‘What am I?’ Aziraphale asked with a look that sent a pang of sorrow through Crowley.

‘You’re an angel who goes along with Heaven as far as he can.’

‘That sounds, um…’

‘Lonely?’

Aziraphale didn’t reply, just nodded.

‘Yeah,’ Crowley said.

‘But you said it wasn’t.’

Oh, this sweet, naive angel. Thousands of years among the humans and he was still so ready to believe every word he heard.

‘I’m a demon,’ Crowley said. ‘I lied.’

They sat on the rock for a long time. So long, in fact, that day turned to night and night bled back into day before another word was spoken.

‘Where are you headed next?’ Aziraphale finally asked, eyes fixed on the shimmering sea, the soft pastels of dawn pinking the water.

‘I dunno, thought I might hang around here a little longer.’ Crowley rose to his feet and stretched, hands high above his head. Aziraphale turned to watch him. ‘I’ve a house here, a nice little one-bed with its own garden, just on the outskirts of the town. I think I can stay a few more years, enjoy the wine and good weather before reporting back to Hell.’ He looked down at Aziraphale and gave him a crooked grin. Azizaphale’s eyes darted away and Crowley’s grin only widened. ‘Where are you off to?’

‘I’m not sure. I should probably head back up, check that the reports on Job’s trials don’t mention anything too out of the ordinary.’

Crowley reached out a hand and Aziraphale took it, letting himself be hoisted to his feet. His hand was warm and soft in Crowley’s. They stayed holding hands for a long moment before Aziraphale pulled his hand free and smoothed down his robes.

‘I best be off, then.’ He took a deep breath and began to make a sign in the air.

‘Wait.’

Aziraphale’s hand froze.

Crowley swallowed. ‘What if you came over to my place, to, um, you know, celebrate a job well done.’ Aziraphale cocked an eyebrow and Crowley hurried on. ‘I could cook. Show you some of the finer things the humans have managed to whip up in their kitchens. Would be a shame if you went back to Heaven without trying something other than Ox.’

Aziraphale stared at Crowley for a long moment, lips pursed. Crowley shifted awkwardly, sandaled foot scraping across coarse sand.

‘Fine.’

‘Yeah?’ Crowley couldn’t fight the grin that spread across his face.

‘But no wine, you hear me, Demon?’

Crowley threw up his hands. ‘You have my word.’

Azriaphale rolled his eyes. ‘The word of a demon, I’m sure I can put my utmost trust in that.’

Crowley tilted his head and winked, a sliver of yellow iris and slitted pupil sliding over Aziraphale's face. ‘Be at mine by sundown.’ He turned and started to stroll away.

‘How will I find your house?’ Aziraphale called after him.

Crowley swivelled, walking backwards for a few steps. ‘Follow the snakes. I’ll tell them to point the way.’

He thought he heard a quiet ‘oh, good Lord’ as he turned away and continued his walk towards town.

“You will come back.” Essek says and it is not a question or a statement; it is a plea.

Caleb huffs a sigh, stroking his husband’s cheek. “Schatzi-“

“You will,” Essek’s gaze shoots from the floor to Caleb. “I will not be there to protect you. So you will promise me that you will protect yourself.”

“Essek. Liebling, you know I cannot make any guarantees.”

Caleb catches a glint of fang as Essek grits his teeth, the hand at his side clenching for the briefest of moments.

“He will not take you from me.”

Angry tears bead in Essek’s eyes, blurring the silver lining them and spilling down his face. Again, he breaks Caleb’s gaze and stares at the floor. Caleb’s chest aches at the sight of it, knowing he can do nothing to end the pain, only lessen it.

“I sold my last home away for him,” Essek mutters after a moment, voice scalding with the hurt it contains. “He cannot take my new one from me too.”

The last words break on a sob and Caleb catches him just as he pitches into his arms. Tight as a vice, he holds Essek to his chest as he weeps, face buried in the scarf he himself knitted.

“Come home to me, Caleb Widogast,” he begs. “Please don’t leave me.”

Caleb has not heard him sound so broken in years.

“I will,” he whispers, ignoring the sour bite of uncertainty in his throat, and presses a kiss to Essek’s curls. “I’ll come home, my love.”

air put on a cheesy christmas movie and I honestly really liked it. it’s about two sisters who get isekai’d into a christmas movie plot and the younger one’s having the time of her life while the older one hates it so bad. the thing is the older one ends up having a romance with a resident of christmas world and. the guy gives the impression it’s his first week being alive. he does not give the impression of being a real human man. and the thing is he does some stuff that the older sister specifically does call out as being stalkerish and creepy, but it’s written and acted in a way where I’m not immediately like Kill Him which honestly? impressive. the older sister goes like ‘you gave me a hand-drawn card of me sleeping, do NOT watch me sleep and draw me that is WEIRD’ and he’s like ‘oh! got it!’ later he gets isekai’d into the real world with them and when the sisters wake up he just pops up from the kitchen, presumably just lying on the floor, and is like ‘you asked me not to watch you sleep! so I didn’t!’ really really funny. I also like the older sister because she’s a bit of a grouch and is very annoyed at being the side character of her little sister’s christmas movie plot lol
