bonfire - percy jackson
Request: yes! "Hey I was just wondering if you could make a Percy Jackson x gn reader where the reader had a crush on Percy for a while and was jealous of annabeth only to find out Percy felt the same" Pairing: percy jackson x gn!reader Summary: you've got a crush on percy, but it looks as if he only has eyes for annabeth. you try to keep your distance, but it's hard and percy notices you're absent Warnings: jealousy, angst Word count: 1.5K A/N: happy new year!! sadly I went into the year with my tiktok account getting banned because they think I'm 13?? all I do is post silly little pjo videos but apparently its not okay so now I have to start over :( thanks for your request, enjoy!
you wonder if your life would be different if you were more like annabeth.
you're looking at her right now, as she's talking with her team. you know you can't win capture the flag from her. she's too smart. always analysing, always calculating everything that can go wrong and then preventing it.
percy is also looking at annabeth.
he's on her team, after all.
you're trying to listen as clarisse, your team captain, explains her new plan to your team. but you're only hearing half of what she's saying. you're far too focused on percy as he smiles at annabeth while she's talking to him.
you can tell he likes her. and it's not like you hadn't tried to let it go.
you had tried to push your feelings away, to ignore them, nothing worked. when you saw percy chatting with annabeth, you felt a little jealous.
soon your crush on percy and with it, your jealousy of annabeth, started to grow. so you decided if nothing worked, you'd distance yourself from percy.
it hurt, especially since percy was happy to spend his time with annabeth instead of you. at first, he would still invite you to spend time with him. but after you kept declining his offers, he eventually stopped asking you.
you tried not to show anyone how upset you were. maybe it would get easier with time. it's clear to you percy prefers annabeth over you.
on top of it all, you lose capture the flag yet again. you're forced to sit on the sidelines with your team, listening to clarisse tell you everything that went wrong. in the distance, you can see percy and annabeth celebrating their win with the rest of the team.
you tell yourself it's just a game and that you don't care their team won. maybe if you tell yourself it enough times, you might believe it.
when you're walking back to the cabins to put away your armor and weapons, you hear someone call your name behind you.
you turn around and see percy jogging to catch up with you.
you hate the way your heart still skips a beat when you see his eyes and quick smile.
'good game!' he says, stopping in front of you.
'hi percy.' you say.
'hi.' he says with a smile. gods, he's going to be the death of you one day.
'congrats on winning. again.'
'thanks! annabeth had this amazing plan.'
'athena kids, huh?' you mumble, trying not to show your disappointment at how it only took a couple of seconds for percy to bring up annabeth in the conversation.
'you busy tonight?' he says.
you look up at him. surely he wouldn't?
'not really. why?' you say.
'there's a bonfire tonight. want to come?' says percy.
'yeah, that sounds good.' you say. you could never say no to him.
sitting at the bonfire, you hadn't done that in a while. ever since you decided to try and distance yourself from percy, you missed out on things you knew he would be present at.
'great! it was annabeth's idea to host one, see you tonight!' says percy, waving at you and taking off again, headed towards his own cabin.
you just stand there. of course it was annabeth's plan, of course she'd be there as well.
as you walk to your cabin, you're not sure you can stand watching them together all night after watching them win capture the flag. but you'd told percy you'd come. and you hate to let him down.
so when the sun is setting, you make your way to the bonfire. while you're walking, you can't stop thinking about how cold it is. you should have brought a jacket. but you're afraid that if you go back to your cabin, you won't go to the bonfire anymore. and then percy would be upset.
at the bonfire, there's almost no kids from your team. there are a few of your siblings, but not a lot.
the kids from the opposite team are dancing, laughing and celebrating.
is this really where you want to be tonight?
you spot percy in the distance, talking with a few apollo kids. without meaning to, your eyes also search for annabeth. she's sitting with her siblings. at least they're not together again.
you'd stay for an hour. just to show your face, then you'd go back to your cabin. that's acceptable, right?
you get yourself a drink and sit down near the edge of the party, where most of the kids are just talking with each other and not really doing a lot.
as you think back to capture the flag earlier today, you try to figure out how annabeth's team could always beat yours. you know athena kids are smart, but ares kids also know a lot about battle strategies. maybe you could sit down with clarisse some day and see if you can help her with a new plan.
you're lost in thoughts, when you hear a familiar laugh in the distance. you look over and see annabeth has left her siblings and is now sitting next to percy.
you sigh softly, it was never going to be any different, was it?
for a while, you watch the other kids, listening to their songs. you had to give it to the apollo cabin, they know how to get a party started. when you look back at percy and annabeth, percy is gone.
before you can look around where he is, someone sits down next to you.
'having fun?'
you turn and are met with percy's bright eyes. you put on a smile, hoping it looks sincere.
'yeah. thanks for inviting me.' you say.
percy tilts his head a little and gives you a confusing look.
'you say you're having fun and yet since you got here you've been sitting here with a drink you haven't touched, freezing and shivering.' says percy.
right. you forgot your jacket.
'sorry. I was thinking about capture the flag.' you say.
'ah yes, about our fantastic victory.' says percy, smiling and bumping your shoulder. 'you should come up with a new plan some day. maybe talk to clarisse about it?'
'I will.' you say.
'then again, it is hard to beat annabeth's plans. sometimes I don't even know her entire plan until the game is already over.' says percy.
really? how does he manage to bring up annabeth every single time he's talking to you?
'well, don't let me keep you.' you say. 'thanks for checking in, but you don't have to take pity on me for losing. you can go back to annabeth now.'
percy frowns. 'what are you talking about?' he says.
'well, clearly you like her.' you say.
percy laughs at your words. you feel the color drain from your face. tears start to form in your eyes.
'alright, I'm leaving.' you say, getting up.
percy abruptly stops laughing. 'wait no, please don't go.' he says, pulling you back down.
'sorry, I shouldn't have laughed at that. it's just, yeah, I like annabeth. but not like that, we're just friends. I like you, okay? I thought you knew.' says percy.
your lips part in surprise. did you hear that right?
'you like me?' you say. 'like... you like like me?'
percy smiles. gods he really is beautiful. 'yeah, I like like you, alright.' he says. 'which reminds me, why have you been avoiding me lately?'
you look down, fidgeting with the hem of your shirt. 'I thought if I wouldn't see you, my feelings for you would go away.'
'but they didn't.'
'no, they didn't. my eyes were still finding you in ever room. even tonight, I didn't really want to come. but I couldn't say no to you.'
'is that also why you didn't bring a jacket? so you'd have an excuse to go back soon?'
you look up and shake your head. 'no, I did actually forget my jacket.' you say.
percy takes off his sweater and hands it to you. 'here.' he says. 'wouldn't want you to freeze.'
'thank you.' you say, taking it and putting it on. it's bigger than your own sweaters and smells like him.
'want to get out of here?' says percy. 'we can go to the lake. or my cabin, no one's there. it'll just be the two of us.'
'do you have a heater in your cabin?' you say.
'no.' says percy, getting up and holding out his hand to you. 'but consider me your personal heater from now on. always available for cuddles.'
you smile, taking his hand. 'I like that.' you say.
as you and percy walk off, annabeth is still sitting by the campfire. she's smiling to herself. she knew about percy's crush on you. he'd been asking her all sorts of advice. and it looks like he finally told you.

Prompt: tommy breakdown after buck goes through something traumatic, not right after. When buck is all good, tommy starts to shut down, and after a while buck notices and comforts him. Okay thats a long one sorry lol
This is probably not exactly what you wanted, but hopefully it's close enough! This fic features lots of snuggles.
Tommy stayed calm when he heard a firefighter had been seriously injured and air support was needed. He didn't panic when Chimney was the one to start relaying information to him and the flight medics. Even when he heard the words “Firefighter Evan Buckley of the 118” and “impaled” he focused on getting the bird from point A to point B.
When he landed the chopper, Tommy stared straight ahead and let the medics do whatever needed to be done to get Evan ready for transport.
He thought he heard Chimney ask if he should really be the one flying right now. He wanted to say, “Who else is gonna do it? I'm the only pilot here.”
Instead, he simply replied with a yes, then took off with the knowledge that his Evan was being worked on behind him.
He didn't ask how the patient was doing. He didn't listen to whatever the medics said. He did his job and got them to the hospital.
He didn't see Evan's injury until the surgeon met them at the helipad. A large metal rod sticking out of his abdomen. His turnouts had been pulled off of him, undershirt cut open. Blood, both dry and fresh, covering his body.
He had a pulse. Tommy did hear that.
But he looked lifeless.
He looked-
Tommy stopped himself from going there. He heard his coworkers say something about sending another pilot to pick up the chopper. That Tommy should go to the waiting room. He was the emergency contact anyway.
Tommy went. Sat and waited and waited, staring at the white and mint green wall in front of him. At some point, the rest of the 118 filtered in. Then Maddie, Karen, and Athena.
Eddie was on one side of him, Maddie on the other.
He looked down once to find coffee in his hand, but wasn't sure how it got there or who gave it to him.
Eventually, Evan came out of surgery. A success, the doctor said. It'd be a long recovery, but he'd make it.
The first time Evan opened his eyes, Tommy was beside him holding his hand. When Evan's face lit up into a smile, Tommy felt like his whole world just got put back together.
He stayed by Evan's side throughout recovery. Had to be forced into going home for a few hours every couple days for some real food and rest.
Tommy wasn't one for using his sick time, or his vacation time, so he used up what he could once Evan was home so he could continue to care for him until he was fully healed.
It took time, but eventually Evan got to the point where he could return to work on light duty. He couldn't go out on calls, but he could help around the station. After a couple months of barely leaving the house, he was more than ready to deal with paperwork, and cleaning, and cooking.
Three weeks after that, he was fully cleared. In one week, he'd be going out on calls again. Everything would be back to normal. When Evan called him with the news after his doctor's appointment, Tommy had congratulated him. Had picked up a cake after work and they'd celebrated together.
And then Tommy stayed awake all night long.
Evan curled up beside him, softly snoring with his breath hot on Tommy's side. Tommy's hand rubbed up and down his back all night. Right over his newest scar. He had a matching one on his abdomen. Right where the rod stabbed through his body and almost took his life.
No, Tommy didn't sleep that night.
He felt nauseous the next day. Evan noticed, of course, because Tommy was obsessed with his risotto and could barely get half of it down.
“You okay?” Buck asked as they cleared the table.
“Yeah, I think I might be getting a cold or something,” Tommy reasoned. “Sorry.”
Buck smiled at him even as he raised a hand to Tommy's forehead. “You don't have to be sorry for not feeling well. I don't feel a fever.” He moved his hands to Tommy's cheeks, then his neck, then ran his hands down his arms. Tommy knew the drill. The mere mention of not feeling one hundred percent would send Evan into a spiral, even if he did try to keep his face as nonchalant as possible.
“You feeling any congestion? Sore throat? Chills? Fatigue?”
Tommy took a step forward, rested his hands on Buck's cheeks and leaned in, pressing a kiss to his forehead. “I'm okay, Baby. Probably just tired.”
When they went to bed a few hours later, Tommy slept. For a couple hours, at least. He wished he hadn't though, because the nightmare he had felt more graphic than seeing Evan get taken away by the surgeon.
He woke up in a cold sweat, gasping for breath. Thankfully, Evan was out like a light. Tommy got up and headed into the bathroom, turning on the sink to splash some cold water on his face.
He grabbed a washcloth and wet it, wiping the sweat off of him. Then, he pulled off his sweatpants and put on a new pair before getting back into bed.
Once he was back under the covers, he reached over and scooted his hand underneath Evan's body, nudging him until he turned and laid nearly half of his body directly on top of Tommy.
Tommy tugged the covers up until they were over Evan's shoulders, then he wrapped his arms around him and held him tight.
Evan smacked a couple times, burrowing his head further into Tommy's neck. Tommy closed his eyes, breathed him in. Felt Evan's heartbeat against his chest. Listened as his breathing evened back out.
He closed his eyes, but he didn't fall back to sleep.
The next day they both had work, but Tommy ended up getting distracted so many times that his captain wouldn't let him fly. Tommy couldn't even argue with the decision.
They next day, when they both got off shift, Evan arrived a little later than Tommy with burritos in hand.
“They're from your favorite food truck,” Buck told him with a smile. “You haven't been eating much lately, so I wanted you to have something good.”
Tommy didn't have the heart to tell him that the thought of eating made him feel like throwing up. He choked down every single bite of his burrito, then managed to pull Evan into the bedroom for a nap.
Well, sex first, then a nap.
As he laid on Evan's chest, one arm curled up beside him and the other over Evan's pec, he glanced down at the scar. How it raised ever so slightly from the rest of his skin, bright pink against the white.
His chest ached. His eyes burned. The call that he'd forced in one ear and out the other repeated over and over now. “We need an ETA on air support on the Marriott fire downtown! Firefighter Evan Buckley of the 118 has been seriously injured. He fell and was impaled by a metal object. Goes through to his back. Unclear at this time if any major organs were hit, but he's losing a lot of blood and his heartbeat is irregular.”
Tommy didn't realize he'd started crying until Evan stiffened underneath him.
“Tommy?” he asked, his voice soft but concerned. “Babe, what's wrong?” He tried to move them so he could look at Tommy, but Tommy just clung onto him tighter.
He squeezed his eyes shut, sucking in a stunted, shaky breath. “Nothing. S'nothing.”
“Well th- that's obviously not true.” He ran his hands through Tommy's hair, then over his shoulders and down his back. “Come on, talk to me. Please.”
Tommy gave himself a second to calm down. He wiped his eyes before he slowly sat up to face Evan. Evan scooted up the bed so he was leaning against the headboard. He took Tommy's hand, moving his head to meet Tommy's eyes as he tried to look away. “Tommy.” He gave his hand a squeeze. “Please, I'm worried.”
“I... I was so scared.” He breathed out the words like he was admitting to some wrongdoing. “Evan, when you... When I heard it was you over the radio, I was terrified.”
Buck pulled Tommy toward him, wrapping him back up in his arms. “I knew something was wrong. I talked to Cap about it. He said not to push.”
“I was trying to be strong for you. I'm not the one who got hurt.”
“You don't ever have to be strong for me, Tommy. You're allowed to feel things.”
Tommy leaned back enough to be able to look at Evan. “I just put myself in survival mode,” he said. “It was all about getting you better. I could focus on that and not worry about anything else. But, now that you are better- which I'm very thankful for- it's... it scares me. I don't ever wanna see you like that again.”
“Me getting the all clear is what did it, isn't it?”
Tommy nodded. “I think it's always been there, the fear. But it definitely got worse as soon as I found out.”
“Why didn't you tell me, Tommy? We're supposed to- to share stuff like this with each other.”
“I didn't want you to think I wasn't supportive of you going back to work. Because I am supportive of it. I know you're excited, and I'm excited for you. I just- I really love you, Evan.”
Buck smiled. He leaned over and pressed his lips to Tommy's in a chaste kiss. “I really love you, Tommy.”
Tommy pulled Evan to him this time, holding him in his arms. “I have no doubt that you'll be as safe as you can possibly be,” Tommy said, his hand finding its way to the scar on Evan's back. “But I'm gonna be worried for a while.”
“I think that means you care,” Buck teased.
“I really, really care.”
“I like that you care.” Buck smacked a kiss onto Tommy's chest. “If it helps, I worry about you every time I hear you're going up.”
“Yeah?”
“Yeah.”
He thought about it for a second. “It does help.”
Buck smiled against his skin. “Good. You think you can sleep now?”
Tommy scooted down until his head rested against the pillow, his and Evan's legs tangling together. “I think I can try.”

I think sometimes about Tommy and Evan, a few years in. Maybe they're recently married. Maybe Tommy's hair is greying just a bit. I think about Tommy finding a baby left at his station while coming into work. I think about how that baby cries whenever it's in anyone else's arms other than Tommy's. I think about Tommy volunteering to stay behind that day to be with the baby until CPS comes.
I think about Athena filling Tommy in on the status of the baby's parents - Dad died before she was born; Mom, unfortunately, found herself in a car accident that killed her that morning after dropping the baby off. No other relatives. Nowhere to call home.
I think about Tommy looking at this baby girl and thinking about his own time in the system. When he wasn't with his father; when he was bounced around foster families and then group homes.
I think about Tommy having this ache for this baby the moment that he met her. This connection he never thought he would have. This yearning to be there for this small baby.
He wants this kid.
He wants to be there for her.
He wants - he wants to adopt her.
Which feels like too fast of a feeling.
Too soon.
I think about Tommy panicking in the back of his mind at the thought of that; wondering if this is even a good idea. If this would change the relationship he had with Evan. If Evan would want this so suddenly. If this would be the moment Evan realized that maybe Tommy's past fears were true; that Tommy wasn't the man Evan wanted to be with for the rest of his life; that Evan would leave Tommy for this.
Which are irrational thoughts.
Cruel thoughts.
Yet somehow, none of those thoughts stops Tommy from volunteering to watch the baby for a few days when the woman from CPS talks about having some issues figuring out a placement for the baby for the next few nights.
And.
Well.
Tommy should have asked Evan. He tries to warn Evan, but the warning goes to voicemail. Tommy goes home with this baby, unsure of whether or not Evan will be mad or confused or pissed that Tommy made this sudden life decision all on his own, even if it's only for a few days.
Tommy tells himself it will only be for a few days. Because how could it be for more?
And when Tommy gets home, he finds that Evan had swung around Maddie and Chimney's place to steal Jee's old crib and was currently putting it back together. Evan apologizes; he thought he sent a text back and - and he sees the kid too.
And.
Tommy doesn't know if it's the same instant connection, but Evan's always been good with kids. He seems happy to take care of her.
And.
Well.
The baby isn't easy. She's crying and up at weird hours and she would be an absolute nightmare if she wasn't so cute; so sweet in the moments of reprieve.
Evan doesn't seem to complain about it.
And.
And maybe Tommy falls more in love with the baby even with the challenges. He really does. He has trouble leaving the kid alone. He just wants to be around her and make sure she's happy and okay.
And.
It gets to the point where Evan notices something because it's Evan who reminds Tommy reluctantly that they're only keeping her for a few days as CPS sorts out a good placement for the baby. A few days that had already turned into almost a week.
And.
That was when.
Tommy said it.
That maybe he didn't want to have her temporarily. Maybe - maybe he wanted her for as long as they could have her.
Which.
Throws Evan for a loop. Not necessarily in a bad way, but it wasn't exactly something that he had expected. At least, not right then. With them both in jobs that don't exactly have the best hours for raising a kid. They thought they would probably be older parents if they decided to be parents later on.
Well.
Tommy would already be an older parent as is.
But Evan talks about how they probably couldn't adopt her if they both stayed firefighters.
And.
Well.
Tommy proposes that maybe he won't be anymore.
I think about Tommy telling Evan this. How Evan would be confused and tell Tommy that he doesn't have to do that; that this is his career too. But Tommy has been thinking about this for a while.
And.
Tommy's goals have never really been career-oriented. He just wants a family. A home. Loved ones. People who care for him as much as he cares for them.
Not like Tommy can't pivot into piloting or part-time EMT work. Hell, even fire inspector work.
Tommy could fly in his off time. He could save people in other ways.
There is only one baby. This one. Only her. He wants this. He really does.
And.
Tommy's not sure. He's not sure if Evan's exactly okay with that explanation. He isn't sure if Evan is okay with Tommy turning his life upside down for this small baby he met only a week ago. Hell, Tommy's not even sure if Evan is prepared for this; if he even wants this as much as Tommy; if he even wants this to begin with.
But.
But Evan looks at the baby.
And he looks at Tommy.
And there is something there; something there as Evan asked Tommy if he is really serious about this. If he is really sure that is what he wants to do. If this is the leap he wants to take.
And there is no reluctance.
There is no faltering.
Tommy says he does.
He wants this.
And.
Evan nods.
He looks between Tommy and this new baby that has become part of their lives.
And he says that they will figure this all out, then.
And maybe later, a year from that fateful night, Tommy and Evan are in their bed together as Evan confesses that he had been worried when they first decided to take in the baby.
He was worried about if they could do it. If it would be a bad idea for Tommy to reduce his hours like that. If Tommy would grow resentful of the change and how Evan was still a full-time firefighter. He was worried that whatever big beginning feelings Tommy had would wane and they would have this kid that Tommy had gotten from the spark of initial meetings alone.
Evan was worried that he wouldn't catch up to Tommy.
That he wouldn't connect with her like Tommy did. Because there was a connection, Evan saw it the moment Tommy walked into their home with the baby. And Evan hadn't quite had that at first. It took a little time for Evan to feel that connection and he felt a little guilty to admit that; a little ashamed.
But he loves her so much now.
And - and Evan sees how much happier Tommy is with her. Semi-retired and taking care of their girl.
He's happy that Tommy pushed for it; to have this baby in their lives. Evan can't imagine a world without her now.
And.
And Tommy is just happy.
I think about Tommy talking about how lonely he was before Evan. Friendly with everyone, good friends to no one. No family. No love life. Just him and his hobbies and his career.
A constant cycle of distraction, distraction, distraction.
And then.
The cruise incident.
And so much of Tommy's life changed. He had people he actually called friends. He had a support system in a way he never had before. He had that family he had been searching for his whole life.
And he found all of that with Evan.
This is Tommy's happiness. Friends. Loved ones. Family. And he found it with Evan. And he can barely believe he has this. Has Evan. Has their girl.
Sometimes, I think about that as one of the happiest endings Tommy could have. A lonely man who distracted himself with work and hobbies finding himself surrounded by family; choosing family.
I don't know.
I think about that sometimes.

wanna end all my days with talking to you
rating: G words: 1.8k
[also on Ao3]
Buck’s about to get in the engine with his team to ride back to the station, change, and get home to hopefully pass out for the next ten hours – when he thinks he hears a familiar voice among the usual noise of the scene, chatter, yelling, trucks slowly starting to drive away. He stops with one leg on the step and looks around.
“Evan!” He hears again, this time more clearly, and feels the heavy knot in his chest that’s been there the whole day unfold, a wave of relief and calm crashing over him as he sees the face to match the voice. Tommy walks from the crowd, and maybe Buck’s really tired, but he swears his boyfriend glows among everyone else, getting his attention right away. He’s in his turnouts, hair tousled, a worried look on his face mixed with relief. He’s such a sight for sore eyes, Buck wants to drown in his arms right now. “Hey,” Tommy adds as he gets closer, eyes roaming over Buck’s body. “Just wanted to catch you before you left. You okay?” He asks, and Buck finally turns around, both legs back on the ground.
“Hi, Tommy!” He hears Chimney say as he passes them to get on the truck, before Buck can even open his mouth.
“Hey, Howie.” Tommy responds, eyes not leaving Buck. Chim disappears, taking his place with Eddie and Hen who are already waiting inside, ready to leave. Buck thinks they can spare a couple minutes, though.
“Tommy.” Buck whispers, taking a step towards his boyfriend. Tommy’s hands immediately reach for him. “What are you doing here? I thought this was your day off?” He asks, arms wrapping around Tommy’s waist, not caring that they’re technically still at work. He’s had a day, he almost killed his current Captain, they almost lost Athena, he was almost run over by multiple cars- it’s been a day.
“Got called in. I don’t know if you heard but we had a pretty wild all-hands-on-deck situation on the freeway.” He says with a teasing smirk, hands settling on Buck’s waist. Their warmth is so nice and grounding, and Buck leans a little further into him.
“Hm, it rings a bell. A plane landing, right?” He continues, feeling a little silly and a lot giddy, like any time he’s with Tommy. He just makes him feel so carefree, even after a stressful day like today, before even having time to decompress.
“Yeah, that one. Crazy, right? I hear my boyfriend was very involved. Had to see it with my own eyes. And make sure he’s alright.” His eyes scan over Buck’s face. “You alright?”
“I’m fine, baby.” Buck smiles pulling Tommy a little closer to himself. “Are you?”
“Yeah, I’m okay. I wasn’t the one right here at the forefront of everything.” Tommy raises an eyebrow, one of his hands coming up to cup Buck’s face. He leans into the touch, not able to keep in a content sigh. All he can think about is getting home, cuddling up next to Tommy in bed, and soaking up his warmth as he falls asleep.
“How did you know I was? It could’ve been anyone from any station.” Buck says, since it wasn’t public knowledge who exactly was flying the plane, but they both know the answer.
“Who else but the 118 would have this much bad luck.” He shakes his head, and his tone goes for joking, but it does crack a little, worry seeping through.
“Technically, it was Athena. Again.” Buck points out, silently begging the universe to please let Bobby and Athena have a break now, after the cruiseship and now this, they really deserve to rest and not worry about each other’s lives. “We just came to help.”
“You were still heavily involved, weren’t you?” Tommy asks and Buck nods. “So, my point stands.”
“Bobby and I stole a truck.” Buck blurts out. He knows now is not the time, but he just wants to tell Tommy every single thing that happened, and every single thought in his head.
“You what?” Tommy eyebrows shoot up.
“Well, we borrowed it- Actually I have a lot to tell you. It’s been a crazy day. Even before all this,” he gestures towards the plane. Tommy frowns, curiosity etched in his face.
“I can’t wait to hear all about it.” He says with a smile, and then from a distance they vaguely hear someone call his last name. Tommy glances back towards the 217 trucks, probably waiting on him now. Before he can say that he has to go, though, Buck speaks up again.
“Oh, and I rode a motorcycle!” He says excitedly and grins, and sees Tommy’s expression turn into something fond but still confused, probably wondering how it all connects, and maybe where Buck got a motorcycle in the first place. Buck can’t wait to tell him everything that happened today. He’s avoiding mentioning this morning, back at the station, leaving it for later, he doesn’t want to bring it up, bring him up just yet. Not when they’re all still on the high from the airplane landing being very successful, considering their chances. Unpleasant stuff – like Buck’s guilt and confusion about what his intent was – can wait for later, when they’re home, and they have time for him to spiral and confide in his man.
“You’re so adorable.” Tommy just says, and glances to the sides for a second, before leaning in to chastely press his lips against Buck’s, and it’s over way too quickly, Buck pulling him back in, deepening the kiss. He feels Tommy smile and then he’s kissing him just as eagerly. Before he knows it, he’s being pressed against the cold metal of the engine behind him, his boyfriend’s big, warm body right against his, and for a few seconds they just get lost in each other. What pulls him out is his team – some teasing cheers and whooping and even whistling, and a couple joking comments about being inappropriate in the workplace (he thinks it’s Chim who said that, but it’s all a blur – besides, technically they’re on the freeway, so, not really the workplace, so Buck will kiss his boyfriend if he wants to).
He hears himself whining in protest when Tommy starts pulling away, and gets a chuckle in response that he feels in his own chest.
“I’m sorry, but I gotta go now. My team’s waiting.” Tommy sounds regretful, at least. Buck still pouts. But now he can hear Tommy’s co-workers yell his name, and some barely audible jokes and teasing, likely having seen them make out. “I’ll see you tomorrow?” Tommy asks, thumb caressing Buck’s cheekbone. Buck doesn’t want to let him go. He wants to continue their making out, and he wants to talk to Tommy, tell him all about his crazy day, and of course he wants to hear about Tommy’s day, what he was doing before he got called in, and everything that happened after, too. Lately those conversations have become some of Buck’s favorites. He loves talking to Tommy, he loves that he always listens, so attentive and engaged, and visibly enjoying Buck’s rambling. And he loves listening to Tommy, too, his gorgeous voice, and those dry jokes Buck fell in love with that first night they met. They could talk about anything, their days, the weather, some deep personal stuff, Buck loves it all.
“Tonight.” He decides, not sure if he can handle not seeing Tommy as soon as possible. He knows it’s late, and after the day they had, they’re both probably ready to get in bed and crash, but he just doesn’t want to be without Tommy right now. It sounds silly even just in his own head, but he misses him so much every second they’re apart. He guesses it’s that honeymoon period, but maybe it’s also the fact that in the short time they’ve been dating, Tommy has become a safe space for him, a shoulder to lean on, always there, strong and sturdy, to support him whenever and however he needs. He hopes he’s the same for Tommy. He tries his best, at least. “I’ll get my stuff at the station and come over. If that’s okay?” He asks to make sure, just in case, a seed of doubt seeping in. He doesn't want to overstep or assume. But he should’ve known better, Tommy never says no to seeing him.
“Of course it’s okay.” He smiles, leaning back in for one more sweet kiss. “In the meantime, please don’t get into any more trouble tonight. Especially the life-or-death kind,” he half-jokes, and Buck kind of wants to remind him that it wasn’t his life that was in danger this time, but then again, it was Athena, which means Bobby, which means Buck and the entire 118 ready to follow them into any trouble. So, yeah, he gets Tommy’s worry.
“Can’t really promise that. Don’t wanna tempt the universe,” he shrugs. Tommy chuckles lightly. “But I’ll try.”
“Just get to me in one piece,” he shakes his head, taking a step away. It takes everything in Buck not to follow and squeeze himself into a 217 truck just to be with Tommy for a while more. But he’ll see him soon. Around an hour if they leave now. Maybe a little more with the traffic, the freeway being closed now probably causing some issues. But tonight.
“I will. I’ll see you soon.” He answers, and not for the first time the three little words he desperately wants to say try to force themselves onto his tongue. On one hand, there’s no time to waste, life is short, and especially with their profession, and his luck. But on the other hand, he doesn’t want them to come out like this, while he’s still buzzing with adrenaline, and it might be easy to think it’s a heat of the moment thing. He wants to say it in a quiet moment, at home, just the two of them, putting all the feelings and intention behind it, really letting Tommy know how serious and genuine he is about it.
Tommy is his person. The one he wants to go home to at the end of the day – whether an uneventful one, or full of chaos and danger, like tonight. He’s the one Buck wants to talk to for hours and hours, about everything and nothing, spill his every thought. The one he wants to wake up to and fall asleep with. The one he wants to love for the rest of his life.
He can’t stop smiling as he takes a second to watch as Tommy walks away, turns around to flash Buck one more adorable smile, before disappearing in the sea of people. Then, with a shout to hurry up from Eddie, Buck finally turns back to the truck and climbs in. He’s so ready for this day to be over. And what better way to end it than in the arms of his love, while telling him about his crazy day? They definitely need to hurry up and get back to the station, Buck has places to be. Or, one place specifically, the one he already secretly calls home.

Evan Buckley x reader
summary You're taking care of Christopher when Buck comes home, looking absolutely drained and in shock and goes straight to Christophers room. You overhear the news and make sure to care for both Chris and Buck.
word count 1639
tags pretty much episode 14 season 4, Eddie gets shot but it's not described, Buck is sad :(, Chris being the precious kid he is
a/n the way I sat there in silence when Eddie got shot is crazy. Like first they hurt us with Athena and Bobby's fight and then one second passes and Eddie (my bb) gets shot I'm so confused 😭 anyway I couldn't take it when I saw bucks reaction so I wrote a fix it for me. Also I screen recorded off of an illegal site to make gifs LMAO
masterlist
You're washing the dishes when the front door opens and closes, footsteps echoing through the hallway and living room - right past the kitchen.
“Eddie?” You call and the steps stop. Instead of the man you'd expected there's your husband, Buck. He looks distraught, eyes bloodshot and lips bitten raw. What the hell happened? He doesn't even really look at you, it's like he's looking through you. “Buck? You okay?”
He licks his lips and blinks a few times but he doesn't reply. He walks straight to Christopher's bedroom, you following after him in confusion and worry. Why was he alone and why did he look like he'd seen a ghost or worse?
He stops before entering Chris’ room, but not to wait for permission to come in but more like hesitancy. He balls his hand into a fist and takes a deep breath before walking in. You take his spot in the doorway and watch with a worried frown as Buck squats down in front of Chris who's sitting on his bed, playing a video game.
“Where's Dad?” Buck looks down and you see him swallow again before he looks into the kids eyes. “He's.. not coming home tonight, Chris.”
Chris seems almost unbothered by it but considering that Eddie had to stay in the hospital overnight almost regularly due to his job, it was a reasonable reaction. But Buck doesn't seem to think the same and shakes his head minimally.
“Did he get hurt? In a fire?” Chris inquires and Buck turns his head to the side and slowly shakes it in negation. Before explaining it he sits down next to Chris and pinches the bridge of his nose, frowning. “No, not- not in a fire.” He takes another deep breath before continuing, “The truth is someone hurt your Dad.”
It's been a while since you've heard his voice so sullen and raspy from crying - probably since the last visit from his parents and that was weeks ago now. You slowly and quietly come into the room as well, standing at the foot of the bed and next to Buck with his back turned to you.
He regards you with a short glance before focusing back on Christopher, confirming his question, “Yeah, a bad guy.”
You see him reach up and wipe under his eyes, frowning in empathy as you put your hand between his shoulder blades and slowly move it up and down in hopes to calm him down a bit.
“Is he gonna be okay?” Chris asks and you're glad he did because you want to know too. Buck looks at him again and nods. “Your Dad is tough. He's a fighter.”
“He's with the doctors now? The ones that fixed you?” Chris inquires and Buck nods. You see the conflict on his face before the ten year old nods, “Then he's gonna be fine.” You hum and Buck glances your way before focusing back on Chris. Just as he's about to say something his phone pings twice and he looks down at it.
Over his shoulder you see the message as well, stemming from Bobby.
Out of surgery. Doctors say it went well.
Your heart basically drops in relief and Bucks seems to as well when his phone drops from his hand and he pretty much caves in, dropping his chin to his chest as he sniffles and exhales deeply.
You thread your hand in his hair and he automatically leans into you, resting against your stomach as he starts to cry. His hands grasp at your hips before his arms wrap around you and he sobs.
“Shh, it's okay, baby. Eddie's gonna be fine. Right, Chris? Your dad's strong.”
The young boy nods and you smile assuringly as he reaches out and wraps his arm around Bucks shoulders to pat his back. You melt at the sight and ruffle his hair which he usually doesn't like - only his dad is allowed to - but now he just looks at you with worry and confusion.
“How about you go and get ready for bed, hm?” It's not a question and it is a reasonable time for him to head to bed anyway, so he complies and slowly walks to the bathroom.
When he's out of earshot you sit next to Buck and let him fully wrap his arms around you and put his head on your chest as he cries. “H-He got shot right in front of me,” he starts with hitching breaths. “He just dropped and his blood was all over me-” he sobs deeply and you kiss his head while trying to process this yourself. He got shot?
“You couldn't have prevented it, love. He's gonna be fine. Eddie survived a lot, he's going to pull through this time, too.” Buck shakes his head and pulls back enough to look at you, blue eyes glossy and chin quivering as he gasps between another sob.
“It shouldn't have been him!” This devastates you and you cup his face in your hands, your worried expression replaced by a stern one. “It shouldn't have been anyone. Not him and not you, either. You hear me?”
He whimpers and you sigh, wiping your thumbs under his eyes and placing a long, soft kiss on his birthmark. “As soon as we can, we'll go visit him. But now you have to be strong, for Christopher. He looks up to you, if he sees you sad he'll be sad, too. Let's get him to bed, and I'll take care of you after.”
You take his hand and put it over your heart, exaggerating your breaths so he could match his and calm down. Right when he does he opens his eyes again and his frown fades enough to only be barely visible. “‘m sorry.”
The shake of your head is immediate, shutting up any further apologies. “No. It's good to let it out. I'm here so you can do exactly that if you need to. I love you, Evan. Nothing's gonna change that.”
He pulls his hand from your chest and tangles it with yours instead, gently kissing your knuckles and then your inner wrist.
He used to hate his name after it reminded him of his parents- of how they treated him. It reminds him of a life where he had to endure pain to receive love and attention.
But when you say it, it makes his heart beat faster in a good way. It makes him want to move on from his trauma or at least learn to deal with it.
And moreover it makes him feel validated. With you, he's not just Buck. He's also vulnerable, emotional and a bit cheesy. He's Evan. Evan, who's had more jobs in more cities than he can count on one hand because he was trying to find his place in the world. Evan, who likes the ocean but has been uneasy around it ever since the tsunami.
You smile lovingly and peck his forehead just as Chris comes back inside. He's wearing some dino pajamas and you ‘ohh’ at him which makes him giggle and turn as if to show off his outfit.
You move up from the bed - Buck going with you and standing at the foot of it - and untuck the bedsheets. “Get in there.” Chris grins and lays down, letting you tuck him in.
“Don't be sad, kid.” He says to Buck, who tries and fails to hide a new round of tears building up in his eyes. You had no clue where and why Chris sometimes calls Buck or even Eddie ‘kid’ but both of them seemed to love it.
“I'm just a bit worried for your Dad. But he'll be fine,” he adds the last part when you glance at him warningly, not wanting Chris to worry, and smiles. “Goodnight, bud.”
You leave his nightlight on and the door open as you leave.
Buck settles on the couch and watches as you approach and stand in front of him.
He leans back into the couch and looks at you with those puppy dog eyes that make you melt every single time he looks at you. Damn him and his beautiful eyes.
“I'm really scared. I don't know what I would do without him… when he laid there and looked at me, I-” he inhales sharply and looks at his hands, picking at his nails and reopening an old abrasion in the process.
You take his hand into each of yours to stop him and sigh, “I think you're gonna have to move from monthly sessions to biweekly, babe.” You know his therapy has been helping him a lot and you're glad he's working on coping with his trauma, but this addition is going to complicate not just his home life but also work - especially when Eddie comes back.
He groans and pulls you down until you're sitting on his lap, knees on either side of his thighs and his hands on your hips. “I appreciate your help, lovie, but just let me try and rest a little right now, please?”
You smile and card a hand through hair, moving to get off his lap so he could get comfortable on the couch. “Where do you think you're going?” He huffs and you're pushed onto your back before he's leaning over you, laying between your legs.
“You're gonna use me as your pillow?” You prompt and he nods, laying his head on your shoulder and nuzzling his nose into your neck and against your pulse point. You're familiar with his constant search for proof that you're alive and well; you supposed it comes from not just the job but his abandonment issues, too.
It didn't matter to you though, as long as you got to hold him at the end of the day you'd let him maneuver you into whatever way made him happy.

When y/n first arrived at camp the first person she spotted filled her with rage. Perseus Jackson.
“No way Jose!” he called, walking over to her.
She crossed her arms. His dirty clothes and static hair told her that he had just gotten back from training, “how are you here? Of all places, why are you here?”
“Well, Tinky Winky, glad to see you, too.”
Tinky Winky. You dress up as a teletubbie one time in 2nd grade and suddenly you're Tinky Winky for the rest of your life, “I’m gonna head to my cabin. If I see you again, I might throw up on you.”
As she walked away, she heard him yell, “I’m the son of Poseidon, big three, you’ll be seeing a lot of me, babe!” She hated the way her stomach flipped at the name, what right did he have to call her babe?
I
She walked out of her cabin after a month of somehow successfully avoiding speaking to the boy, despite how close her sister was to him. She had free time, so she decided she would walk by the dock to get some fresh air.
She was sitting on the edge, looking at the water when she felt a particularly strong gust of wind. She tried to stand up, but slipped off the edge, falling into the lake. She flailed her arms, trying to maintain some buoyancy. She was never a good swimmer, which was apparent as she felt her lungs begin to fill with liquid as she tried to scream.
Suddenly, she was pulled back to the dock. She tried to catch her brush, coughing up buckets.
“Y/N, y/n, are you okay?” She blinked the water out of her eyes trying to make out the face. All she could see was dark hair and sickeningly green eyes.
“Percy?” She breathed out quietly.
He desperately nodded, “yeah, how long were you under there?”
“Maybe like,” she thought for a second, “20 seconds?”
He helped her up, holding onto her hand, although she urgently pulled it away, “can you breathe fine and everything?”
She nodded, “I’m fine, I’m just gonna go dry off.” She began walking off before stopping and turning back around towards him, “thanks, Percy.”
II
She ran through the woods during a game of capture the flag while clutching a dagger in one hand. She came to a sudden stop as she heard quiet voices. She hid behind a tree bur peeked over to try and see who it was.
There she saw Percy kneeling on the ground next to a younger camper.
“Don’t worry about them,” he mentioned, “the Ares kids are all bark no bite. I would know,” he joked, offering a kind smile.
She noticed the tears coming out of the child’s eyes, “are you sure, because they were saying how-”
“Hey, hey,” he whispered, “they talk to you like that again, you can tell me and I’ll flood their cabin.”
The kid chuckled, causing a grin to find its way to y/n’s face as she watched the scene unfold.
“Now,” Percy stood up and patted the child’s shoulder, “go get that flag.”
The younger boy nodded before running off once again.
Percy brushed off his clothes, suddenly locking eyes with the daughter of Athena, “hey, Alfalfa.”
She tilted her head in confusion, “what?”
He laughed, “your hair.”
She sighed, brushing her fingers through the top of her hair to make sure there were no floating strands, “better, wiseass?”
He smirked, reaching forward and moving a piece of hair behind her ear, “there.”
She felt blood rush to her face, “I’ve gotta go,” she muttered as she ran off. She heard a laugh from behind her, but she carried on, trying not to think of him anymore.
III
She figured the fates must hate her, after all, she was stuck on a quest with the person she hated most. Or that’s what she wanted to say at least. She hated Percy Jackson. She had known him her whole life, and all he had been ws obnoxious.
“I’m as happy with this as you are, y/n,” he interrupted her thoughts as he spoke, “but we should at least talk.”
“About what?” She coldly answered, not even looking at him.
He thought briefly, “what’s your favorite color?”
“Oh, now you’ve gone too far,” she joked.
He smiled in return, “seriously, I’ve known you forever, what is it?”
“F/c,” she answered, glancing over at him.
“See, I never would’ve known that.”
“What’s yours?”
“Blue,” he replied, “reminds me of the ocean.”
“Conceited much?”
“What? That’s not-”
“Whatever you say, fish boy.”
He shook his head, “that’s really creative, wow.” He stopped in his steps in front of a convenience store, “I’m gonna go grab a snack.”
“Percy, there’s more important things right now than your stomach.”
“Right, yeah, whatever,” he brushed her off as he walked into the store.
She groaned, “that idiot.” She nervously looked around, sure she was a demigod, but she was still a teenage girl alone in a city. She felt that those five minutes went on for ages before Percy came back out.
“Here,” he spoke as he handed her a bag.
“What’s this?” She asked, opening the bag to find a package of chips.
“You used to bring a bag of those everyday in middle school,” he added while opening his own chips.
She smiled at how he remembered, “I’m surprised you even noticed.”
“You're hard to miss.”
IV
She wanted to scream looking in the mirror. Purple. Her hair was purple. She couldn't figure out what happened, she used the same shampoo and conditioner as always. She rushed to find her shampoo bottle and open it up. As she took off the cap, she was met with the burning smell of hair dye. She cursed herself for not realizing it before.
She stepped out of the bathroom to find only Annabeth and Percy discussing something while sitting on the former’s bed. They looked at her, surprised.
“Really living up to that Tinky Winky name, huh?”
“Shut up, Jackson!”
Her sister ran to her side, “what happened?”
“I don't know, I washed my hair and- and-”
“The Stolls,” Percy commented, walking over to her.
“Oh my gods,” she mumbled, “why- why-”
“They’re morons, that’s why,” Annabeth said.
Y/N breathed heavily as she tried to stop herself from crying. After all, it was her hair, what did her hair matter? It’s not like she was Aphrodite’s daughter. But, she hated to admit how much it meant to her.
Percy bit his lip, “I’ll be right back,” he mentioned as he made his way out og the cabin.
Soon after, she heard yelling from outside. Her and her sister looked out the window to see what the ordeal was.
“-It’s temporary, it’s not like it's a big deal,” Travis Stoll was defending.
“There is a girl in there crying because of you two!” She was confused why Percy was so angered by this.
“It’s funny-”
“It’s not funny, you ass, she did nothing, why would you do some shit like that to her?”
Chiron suddenly rushed to the scene, standing between the two boys, “what is going on here?”
“Percy’s mad because we dyed his girlfriend’s hair purple.”
Oh, Oh. She was made more confused by the way her heartbeat quickened at being called his girlfriend. She didn't care, he was Percy. She didn't care. She didn't care.
V
To say she was panicked would be an understatement. Percy and Annabeth had been sent on a quest, where only Annabeth returned in tears. As far as she said, Percy wasn't dead, he was missing. They had been fighting a group of monsters, when she turned around and Percy was gone.
Y/N sat at breakfast, unable to eat. She poked at her food, but her stomach was so nauseous, she could barely look at the food. That was until she heard gasps and cheers. She turned around to find Perseus Jackson walking, looking disheveled.
She quickly stood up and ran over to the boy, wrapping him a hug. He was taken aback but enclosed his arms around her waist.
She deeply breathed, pulling away from him. Her hands held onto his face like she was trying to make sure he was real, “I thought you were fucking dead,” she cried.
“I’m pretty glad I’m not.”
She giggled, though tears still streamed down her face. She stayed looking at him, just taking in every feature of his face, every scar, every color in his eyes, and the pink of his lips. She soon enough clashed her lips with his. She didn't care that she knew all of his friends were watching, all she could care about was that he was alive. She did kinda care about the fact that he smelled like raw tuna, but she could look past that for right now.
They separated for air, but their foreheads rested against one another, letting them stare into each other’s eyes.
“You're a pretty good kisser, Tinky Winky.”
“Thanks. You could do better, Spongebob.”
He chuckled, “wanna try again?”

Cheering loudly you jumped happily as you watched your girlfriend clarisse in the chariot race . She was dominating the field per usual, bringing you a sense of happiness.
As the chariots crossed the corner the winner was shown as percy and annabeth. Rolling your eyes at the circumstances you didn’t hesitate to run towards the daughter of ares.
Sneaking up and around the chariots that pulled into the clearing you snuck up to the taller girl. Watching for a moment as she yelled at her siblings you took the opportunity to jump behind clarisse covering her eyes. “Guess who”
Peeling your fingers off her face she turned around, looking you up and down with a critical look. She rolled her eyes before kissing your forehead. “I can’t stand you sometimes” she sighed while picking a piece of pollen off of your hair.
“That’s really how Your Gonna Greet your girlfriend?”
“Yes.”
“Ok clarisse” you joked rolling your eyes in response. Stepping up, creasing your shoes you placed a quick kiss on her lips. “Take care of the chariot ok? I need your sister for something” you politely asked the ares kids, stealing clarisse before they would retaliate.
——
“Where are You taking me” Clarisse complained while You dragged her deeper into the mountains.
“Can You Just be quiet and trust me” looking over your shoulder you raised an eyebrow, testing her patience.
After about five minutes of walking you eventually brought her to a clearing, it was ok the edge of one of the many cliffs at camp but gave a good view of not only the beautiful scenery bellow but also of the camp itself.
Leaning into clarisse you wrapped a lazy arm around her while resting your head on her. “Pretty huh”
She just shrugged her shoulders. “It’s all right” You softly hit her in the side. “It’s not all right It’s beautiful you jerk”
“No.. no I’ve seen prettier” she chuckled.
“Oh yeah? Name three things”
“Ok” Clarisse shifted around some. “Uh for starters the sunset, then my spear and lastly I guess you can count” she laughed as you hit her one more time. “I hate you so much”
“I love you to” she chuckled kissing you once again.
“You did great Today.. your dad would be proud you know” you comfortingly mumbled against her lips. Clarisse relaxed Some sighing once again “let’s just hope he agrees”
——
Heading towards the dining hall you happily held your girlfriends hand. Walking in the stone building you stopped making clarisse jerk slightly.
“What’s wrong” she asked with a concerned tone. Breaking from her you headed towards the Athena table.
Walking up to it you crossed your arms “do we have a problem”
They all looked around confused, some mumbling. “What are You on about?” Annabeth spoke all while giving you an equally dirty look.
“There’s nothing wrong with bragging about winning but the second any of you have the audacity to first of all say, clarisse didn’t deserve her quest this year or that she was just an extra burden which may I add you— annabeth crashed her quest, only to then also say that she deserved not winning just shows the fucking arrogance of you all” placing your hands on your hips you eyed the entire now silent table with some of the other kids in the dining hall following suit in being quiet. “Keep my girlfriends name out of your pathetic mouths and we won’t have a problem.. understand”
Walking back to clarisse you took her hand into yours once again, kissing her cheek you started to walk towards the ares cabin table with her. “Have I ever told you how hot you are when you act like a bitch”
“Eh you’ve mentioned it once or twice” giving her one more kiss, pecking her lips a few Times you started to chuckle as her siblings complained.
It didn’t matter what anyone said about clarisse. You would Defend her til the day you die.

Would You Love Me Again?
The soft knock at your door comes late, too late for anything good. For a second, you think you might have imagined it, the faint sound dissolving into the hum of the night. But then it comes again, firm yet hesitant, like the person on the other side isn’t sure they have the right to be there.
Your heart picks up speed, and you already know who it is before you open the door.
“Jake.”
His name is a whisper, a prayer you didn’t realize you were holding onto.
He stands in the doorway, shoulders tense, hands stuffed into his jacket pockets. He looks different from the last time you saw him—still impossibly tall, still Jake—but there’s a heaviness in his eyes now, a weariness that wasn’t there before.
“Hey, Athena.” His voice is softer than you expect, tinged with something you can’t quite place.
For a moment, neither of you speaks. The silence stretches, thick and suffocating, weighed down by everything left unsaid.
“Can I come in?” he finally asks.
You hesitate. It’s not that you don’t want him here—it’s that you do, and that terrifies you.
You step aside, wordlessly inviting him in.
It’s been months since you last saw him. Months since the uranium mission that changed everything. Back then, he was all bravado and sharp edges, the embodiment of his call sign. You didn’t recognize him—the Jake you knew was confident, sure, but never cruel. Never reckless.
And yet, when your world shattered—when the news came that your father was gone—it was Jake who found you. Jake who held you through your sobs, his own pain etched into his features as he whispered that it was okay to be angry, to be broken.
“I’m here,” he’d said that night, his voice steady despite the cracks in it. “I’m not going anywhere.”
You’d believed him.
But then, like always, life pulled you apart again.
He sits on your couch now, his elbows resting on his knees, his head bowed. He looks smaller somehow, despite his broad frame, like the weight of everything is finally catching up to him.
“I almost didn’t come,” he admits, breaking the silence.
You fold your arms across your chest, leaning against the edge of the table. “Why did you?”
He looks up then, his green eyes meeting yours, and for a moment, it feels like he’s searching for something—permission, maybe, or forgiveness.
“Because I couldn’t stay away anymore.” His voice is quiet, but the words hit you like a freight train. “I’ve done things, Athena. Things I’m not proud of. I’ve been selfish, arrogant… I’ve hurt people. I hurt you.”
You flinch at the raw honesty in his tone, the way his voice breaks on the last word.
“I wasn’t the man you deserved,” he continues, his gaze never leaving yours. “But after everything—after Maverick, after Rooster—I realized I don’t want to be that guy anymore. I don’t want to lose the people I care about because I was too blind to see what mattered.”
Your throat tightens, and you have to look away, the intensity of his confession too much to bear.
“Jake…”
He stands then, crossing the room to stand in front of you. He’s so close now, close enough that you can see the faint scar on his cheek, the way his hands tremble as he reaches for you.
“I don’t expect you to forgive me,” he says, his voice barely above a whisper. “But I need you to know… I still love you. I’ve always loved you. And if there’s any part of you that still feels the same, if there’s any chance—”
“Stop,” you cut him off, your voice shaking.
He freezes, his hands dropping to his sides.
“Do you think it’s that simple?” you ask, your words laced with frustration and something deeper, something more vulnerable. “You can’t just show up after all this time and expect everything to be okay.”
“I don’t,” he says quickly, his tone desperate. “I don’t expect anything. But I had to try. Because losing you again would be worse than anything else.”
You stare at him, your heart warring with your head. Every instinct tells you to push him away, to protect yourself from the pain you know he’s capable of causing. But then you remember the way he held you when you felt like the world was crumbling beneath your feet. The way he gave you his dog tags, pressing them into your palm with a silent promise that he’d always be with you.
And you realize you’re not ready to let him go.
“I waited for you, Jake,” you admit, your voice trembling. “I waited for you every time, and every time, you left. You weren’t just cocky—you were reckless, and it scared me. I didn’t know if I’d lose you too.”
His eyes glisten with unshed tears. “I know. And I hate that I made you feel that way.”
You take a shaky breath, your fingers curling into fists at your sides. “I don’t know if I can go through that again.”
“I’m not asking you to,” he says, stepping closer. “I’m asking you to let me prove that I’ve changed. That I can be the man you need me to be.”
He pauses, his voice softening. “Would you fall in love with me again?”
The words hang in the air, heavy with meaning.
You meet his gaze, searching for any hint of insincerity, but all you see is the man you fell in love with so long ago—the man you’ve been waiting for.
“I never stopped,” you admit, your voice barely audible.
Relief washes over his face, and before you can second-guess yourself, you step into his arms, letting him hold you like he did that night, when everything else felt broken.
For the first time in a long time, you feel like maybe, just maybe, things can be okay.
"Left a trail of red on every island. As I traded friends like objects I could use. Hurt more lives than I can count on my hands. But all of that was to bring me back to you"

'buck's a grown up so treat him like one' lmao where was that energy when tommy was telling buck to put his phone away because it was past his bedtime lmao. people who care about you wouldn't encourage you to fight for somebody who dumped you lmao.
Are we talking about the time when Buck was definitely in a deep hyperfixation and couldn't stop surfing internet by himself? And when he was hurt and needed rest to heal? When Tommy was a caring boyfriend who brought him new ice pack, fluffed his pillow, asked what he needed, slept with him in the same room on a small couch in case of emergency, although could go home? This time? And remind me, did he took Buck's laptop away from him? I don't think so, he just told him to go to sleep because that's what Buck needed. So, all i see here a worried boyfriend.
Em, yeah maybe people shouldn't encourage their loved ones to fight for someone who dumped them. But shouldn't they care about their mental health? Buck is obviously struggling, he needs at least closure. And Tommy wants to reach out too, as we saw in the scene with babbling. So they really need to talk and people around Buck should see it and help him to have this talk. Considering none of them ever gave up on their loved ones. How many struggles Madney had? Henren? Athena&Bobby? And now they are strong. And shouldn't the fuck they encourage Buck to do something to get his happily after too? Even if just to talk to Tommy, understand why Tommy broke up with him, so even without their endgame Buck would know what the hell happend to the relationship he thought were good.
#bucktommy#911 abc#tevan#tommy kinard#evan buckley#yeah buck is grown up#and i stand with the fact#118 doesn't treat him like that#and i wouldn't call break up the “Tommy dumped Buck”#tommy got scared#he ran away#surprise surprise he's a human being and has feelings too#so yeah we don't know his past#and why he broke up with buck#but this break up was hard for him too#that's absolutely true#dumping someone up for me means the person who did it doesn't have feelings for other#it's clearly wasn't the case here

A conversation between Diomedes and Odysseus that I imagine they had at the beginning of the Trojan War, when they were getting to know each other:
— Well, well, if it isn't the youngest King who ruled Argos that this council of war has ever heard of! The disciple with the silver eyes blessed by Athena, the war cry that terrifies the enemies! — The man's melodious voice pulled Diomedes back to reality. The young king had to hold back an irritated sigh that he would let escape his lips showing his discomfort at having someone close to him.
It wasn't a good day, in fact, since he stepped onto the Trojan lands and instructed his men to start setting up camp, he had never had a good day. Diomedes was used to the patterns of war, the dried blood under his nails, the bruises his enemies were lucky enough to inflict, the calluses forming on his already rough hand, he should stop by the medical tent and see if he could get some blister cream or something, he would do that later.
— It is good to see you again, King of Ithaca— He made no effort to look at the man who sat beside him, his gaze continued to focus on the fire. He expected peace and quiet, but it seemed like Lady Athena wouldn't give it to him anytime soon.
—You were splendid on the battlefield today, a true veteran, far more experienced than any of us— He had been warned about the ruler of Ithaca having a sweet tongue to persuade any man to get what he wanted. This made Diomedes shiver just for being a target of this "get what he wants by any means necessary" guy.
—That's right, thank you— He didn't know how to respond to flattery, maybe that's why he fell for so few. The King (His name was Odysseus, from what he remembered) didn't seem to be bothered by this fact.
— Yes, a real standout, I would say, with my audacity, that you would only lose to Achilles! Or you could even surpass him.
— Be careful with your words, Laertiades — Achilles' sharp voice cut through the silence, it seemed that the Best of the Greeks would rather be somewhere else, but Patroclus, his friend and healer (maybe something more) seemed very happy to enjoy the campfire and chat with Ajax the Great, who was Achilles' cousin, and at the beginning of the war, Peliades didn't seem to want to be away from his closest friend— Or you will be without your precious tongue.
— Don't be so skittish, Peliades, it was just a foolish comparison, forgive me — He made sure to emphasize — But you were still magnificent, young Diomedes.
— Do you need something from me, Leartiades? — Diomedes didn't like mind games where he had to put his wits to work and try to decipher dirty tricks, not after a long day. He would prefer the silence and not having to talk for the rest of the night. So anything that would make Odysseus move away, he would be happy.
— Straightforward, isn't it? — Odysseus didn't seem to mind, staring at the helmet still in Diomedes' lap. — I need a favor from you, something small, nothing extravagant.
— I don't do favors — The young King said — Much less for strangers.
— Come on, we are war companions now and the same Goddess guides us, I think we are not so strange after all — The warm touch of Odysseus's palm came into contact with the skin of Diomedes's arm, a friendly, innocent touch, nothing more than a form of bargaining. But for Diomedes that was like a burning coal, the field reflexes came into action and he slapped the other's hand away from his arm. The most serious expression now on his indifferent face.
— Don't touch me, Laertiades — The young king's voice was low, threatening — And I already said, I don't do favors for strangers, much less those who have very big tongues and words that flatter too much.
Diomedes stood up with his helmet in his hands, putting on the piece that completed his armor, his eyes staring at Odysseus with cold indifference — Do not look for me to demand favors, King of Ithaca, from what I hear, you seem eager to get back to your wife and son.
Diomedes heard a provocative whistle, perhaps it had come from the mouth of the sweet Patroclus who was known for his good heart, but had his attractions for a good fight. He decided to ignore it.
— Gentlemen — He said in farewell, starting to walk towards his own camp. With luck, that would have been the only and last interaction with Odysseus and he would only need to see the man in meetings and on the battlefield.
The distant hoot of an owl was his doubt and likely his condemnation of what would come from then on. Odysseus' sweet tongue would still convince him of many things.

so last night i was sitting here trying to clear my writer's block by jumping between wips and then i had a thought: a writing experiment where i write what an "evan begins" ep would look like. and i know what you're thinking-- "we don't want that" but HEAR ME OUT (this was written while sleep deprived but i'm too lazy to rewrite it, bear with me)
"evan begins" isn't actually buck coming to terms with his given name, it's actually the beginning of him losing himself in his relationship with tommy over the course of several episodes (telling everyone that he no longer goes by buck, distancing himself from the 118, getting reckless on calls because tommy, who is as uninterested as we've seen him to be, only seems to care when he's hurt just like his parents).
and eddie. eddie hates this. he just got christopher back, and now buck is pulling away from him, from their family, from the 118, is refusing to be called buck, and won't stop risking his life for no reason. he tries, he tries so hard to get buck to listen to him. eddie never calls him evan, not once, and buck ignores him every time his name leaves his mouth. it hurts, but eddie knows that he can't give in, that he needs to fight for buck because no one else is, has time to because they're all going through their own stuff. but buck helped him get through chris being in texas, and now eddie would help buck get through whatever this is.
but buck isn't making it easy. he isn't talking to anyone, not really, but it's like he's specifically avoiding eddie. that's why it takes so long for eddie to realize what he's doing. that he's reverted back to his childhood attempts at getting attention. and the way he notices? complete accident. eddie's at the hospital, waiting for news (because buck never remembered to take eddie off of his emergency contact list, and eddie would use that power as much as possible until he realized), and tommy shows up. he and tommy aren't on the friendliest of terms anymore, mostly because of eddie's newly identified jealousy, but they make small talk. tommy makes a comment, something about how he and "evan" hadn't had the chance to go out on a date in over a week, and it clicks.
eddie shows up at the loft that night. tommy's there, he answers the door, and eddie pushes past him, heads straight to buck who's sitting on the couch that isn't even comfortable. he stands in front of him, and before buck can ask why he's at the loft, eddie says "i know what you're doing, and it needs to stop".
buck. buck just... goes quiet. the lack of a denial is enough for eddie, and he turns to tommy, telling him he needs to go. tommy puts up a fight, but eddie's more stubborn, and may or may not threaten to call athena (who is not tommy's biggest fan). is it ethical? no. does it have any legal standing? no to that as well. but eddie doesn't care, and it works, and suddenly he and buck are alone for the first time in months. and buck breaks.
he tells eddie everything, how he didn't feel like himself, and that he didn't know why he was doing what he was, but he didn't know how to stop it, how to leave this relationship that took so much from him. he tells eddie he feels like a failure, like a disappointment, and that he feels guilty for abandoning him right after chris got back. feels guilty for abandoning chris, and the rest of the 118. and eddie just holds him.
the next episode is titled "buck begins again", and we see eddie help buck pick the pieces of his life back up. there's a not so pleasant breakup, apologies are made, and eddie is right there by buck's side the entire time.
i don't think, don't want buddie to get into a relationship in this episode, but what i think would be an acceptable ending would be buck telling eddie "i know, and you know, but i'm not ready. i want to be better for you, for us, for me. will you wait for me?" and eddie just smiles, and nods his head. end episode.

Remember when i wrote a fic about Tommy running into a fire to save Buck? Part two here and part three under the cut
Buck felt loopy as he opened his eyes, his mouth was dry, and he felt too out of it to freak out about how his lips stuck together.
He thinks he might have moaned too loud because he hears who he assumes to be Athena go “Bobby, look.”
Before he has the chance to call for Bobby, he feels something wet and soft touch his lips. The water is ice cold and it does little to wake him up, but it’s helpful.
“Buh-by?” his throat felt raw as hell but he finally was able to open his eyes.
“Hey kid.” Bobby greeted him with a warm and relieved smile, he picked up a small cup of water with a straw from somewhere and held it to Buck’s mouth. “Don’t talk just yet, docs were worried about your throat after intubating.”
Buck is sure he isn’t processing much right now; he still feels out of it but he had to ask. “I was intubated?”
Bobby turned pale, his brown eyes slightly widening as he nodded. Athena came into Buck’s view then, standing next to Bobby to wrap her arms around his arm. “You stopped breathing on the way here, Buck.” She told him knowingly, her eyes betraying how scared she was for him. “I don’t know what number of lives you’re on but we thought we almost lost you there.”
Buck winced as he tried to take a deep breath, “How long was I out for?” He doesn’t remember much, he knows he didn’t have a coma-induced lucid dream like before since he can remember going into the fire.
But he can’t remember how he left.
“Four long days.” Bobby answered with a long exhale, Buck felt guilty as he noticed how drained and worn-out Bobby looked while he stood over Buck. Bobby clearly hadn’t been resting well, his skin looked ashy, and he was fidgeting in place.
“I’m sorry.” Buck sighed, closing his eyes for a moment. He didn’t want to imagine how the others were handling him being out for four days, especially Maddie. “Wh-Where’s Maddie?” he thought he had spoken to her earlier, but for all Buck knew, that could have been the drugs.
“She should be here soon.” Athena answered, a small smile cracking through her worried expression, “We told her to go home to rest, I think the doctors were getting worried about a pregnant woman sleeping in these chairs.” Athena joked, nudging her chin to the stiff guest chairs that were against the wall in the room.
Buck thought the cough from laughing was worth it, but it only made Bobby jump in worry and grab the cup of water again. Athena looked hurried as she went to run her fingers through Buck’s hair, the gesture was sweet and while it didn’t stop the cough out right, Buck felt oddly calmed by it.
“Thanks Athena.” Buck felt himself relax, missing the small exchange between the couple. “Are the others okay?”
Bobby took too long to answer that, but Buck chalked it up to maybe Bobby not wanting to stress him out with how the others were handling him being in the hospital. “The others are fine, Buck. They came to visit you yesterday. I’m supposed to tell you if you scare Hen again, she’s going to make sure to tether you to her for every call after.”
Buck was careful not to laugh that time, but his smile was short as he wondered something. “Bobby, how did I get out of the fire?”
“What?”
“The fire? I-That’s the last call I remember, did I do something else that put me in the hospital? Did I forget something?” Buck asked, trying to remember for himself what happened.
He might have forgotten something based on how Bobby and Athena looked at each other again, this time with something akin to fear written all over the faces. Bobby looked like he was bracing himself while Athena squeezed his hand.
“Buck,” Bobby cleared his throat, clearly uncomfortable about how to answer Buck’s questions. “I don’t know how to tell you this but-”
“Evan, you’re awake!” Maddie’s excited presence caused all three of them to jolt in their spots. “How are you feeling? Did the doctor see you yet?”
Buck felt something was wrong in his gut, he didn’t miss the odd annoyed look that Bobby and Athena shared this time.
“He hasn’t.” Athena answered her, she clapped her hands together, “I’ll go flag down his doctor.” She raised her brows at Bobby, earning a head nod from the older man.
Yeah, something was going on for sure.
“Thanks Athena.” Maddie went over to him, taking his hand in hers and pressing it under her chin. He could already see her eyes welling up with tears, “I’m so happy to see your awake and alive, you really scared me Evan.”
Emotional Maddie always had a way of making Buck emotional too, “I would promise this is the last time, but the universe really likes to make sure I break that promise.” He tried to joke, only for Maddie to make a face- clearly not liking the joke. “I’m okay, Maddie. Hazard of the job, right?”
“Doesn’t mean I have to like it.” Maddie scoffed lightly, “I still need my little brother and Jee and this little one.” Maddie gestured to her now protruding belly, “-need their uncle Buck.” She reminded him pointedly while sniffing.
“Yeah, you’re not getting rid of me, not yet at least.” Buck promised, his tone light in order to cheer up Maddie and Bobby. He turned again to the older man, “You still didn’t tell me what happened? Did the team pull me out or something?” Buck asked.
Before Bobby had the chance to answer, Maddie spoke up again. “Oh, before I forget. Mom and dad know, obviously. I told them the doctors were able to remove the endotracheal tube but they were still worried.” She touched his cheek, “They’re gonna be so relieved to hear you’re okay.”
“O-Okay.” Buck nodded, he looked between Maddie and Bobby. Unsure what was going on, but something was off. “Are-Are they coming to LA again?”
Maddie looked surprised at the ask, “They didn’t say.” Buck knew she was lying, he knew Maddie too well and when her voice went up an octave. “But I can ask them, I’m sure they would be happy to hear you want them to visit.” She teased, although it had the adverse effect on Buck. He didn’t like the weird awkward tension he was getting from Maddie and Bobby.
There was something going on…
“Bobby.” Buck ignored the heart monitor picking up, “What happened?” He asked firmly this time.
“Buck, you need to take a breather.” Bobby warned.
“Yeah,” Maddie echoed, she looked back to the heart monitor and Buck as it went up again, “You need to calm down, Evan. The doctors were worried about your heart after that much smoke inhalation.”
“So I was in the fire?” Buck asked, with the way Maddie looked alarm and guilty all in one it made Buck feel the need to press for answers now, “What happened? Why are you two acting so weird?”
Bobby and Maddie seemed to be only communicating with just looks and raised brows before Buck lost it, “What happened?!” he snapped.
“Buck, you need to calm down.”
“Don’t tell me to calm down when you two won’t tell me-”
A strong knock had Buck pause to look up at Athena and Dr. Salazar coming into his room. “Mr. Buckley, I don’t know what’s going on right now, but you need to breathe and you two.” She pointed to Maddie and Bobby, “Need to go, now. You’re stressing my patient out right now.”
A nurse came through a moment later to take his vitals, triggering Maddie and Bobby to step away from Buck. “Hey- no, I need to know what happened.”
“What you need to do is relax.” Dr. Salazar warned, she leafed through her I-pad that contained Buck’s chart info, “Your heart went through significant stress, again. And the last thing I want is another firefighter coding on me again.”
Buck stood up straighter in bed, ignoring the poor nurse that was trying to fix his IV. “Another firefighter? Wha-Who was it?”
Salazar rolled her eyes, writing something down, “Mr. Buckley, you know I can’t disclose patient information like that.”
“Yeah but, was it a firefighter from the 118?” That would explain why Bobby and Maddie seemed so suspicious and guilty around him, “Was it Eddie or Chimney? Or-or Hen?” he asked, the monitor up ticking again, earning a glare from Salazar. She sighed as she told the nurse “Raise the dosage of Carvedilol by 2 milligrams before Mr. Buckley sends himself into cardiac arrest again.”
That did little to calm Buck down, he pleaded with Salazar as he felt himself became hazy, “Dr. Salazar, please you have to tell me who it is. I-it’s probably my fault that they’re in here. I think they were trying to save me.”
For a moment, he thought Salazar would tell him, he saw a glimpse of guilt as she looked at him. “Buckley, go rest up. I’m sure your family will tell you what happened.”
‘That’s what you think.’ Buck thought miserably as sleep overtook once again.
-
When Ravi joined the Harbor, he and Lucy would joke about how they were officially out of the cool kids’ club since no one from the 118’s A shift would talk to them.
It was a joke that fell flat with Tommy, especially after he broke up with Buck, but Melton, Hiro, and the others found it funny.
The one thing that Ravi and Lucy appreciated at times was how the weird added drama that followed the A shift didn’t follow the Harbor’s A shift.
While Tommy had once mentioned how he liked how connected the 118 A shift was, how they were such a family, Ravi felt they were too co-dependent.
For God’s sake, Chimney and Buck were brothers-in-law, Buck was the guardian Eddie’s kid in the case Eddie ever died, Hen was besties with Bobby’s wife and Chimney, and the team practically had dinners with each other weekly.
But where he and Lucy thought it was over kill, Tommy seemed to revel in it. Admitting that he missed that when he and Buck broke up.
If only Tommy could see what was going on now.
Chimney, Maddie, Eddie, Bobby, and Lucy were all arguing about if and when they should tell Buck about Tommy.
“Buck has the right to know!” Lucy pressed, staring daggers at Maddie who seemed indifferent to Lucy’s opinion. “Do you know how pissed he would be if he found out you guys were hiding the fact that Tommy almost lost his life to save Buck’s?”
Eddie looked rightfully guilty at that; he gave Maddie a disapproving look as the older brunette just shook her head in disagreement. “Buck needs to focus on getting better, we can’t tell him about Tommy, its just going to stress him out.”
“He’s already stressed Maddie.” Bobby pointed out tersely, “He knows something is going on and he does know that someone got him out of the fire, we’re gonna have to tell him.”
Maddie stayed quiet at that, lost in thought as she rubbed her belly.
“Maddie?” Chimney asked, he had agreed with telling Buck as soon as possible but did admit that he wanted to support Maddie since she was his wife. “They have a point.”
Maddie pursed her lips, staring owlishly at the group. “I know.” She admitted, rubbing her forehead as the exhaustion from the past four days caught up with her. “But regardless if we tell Buck now or tomorrow, it doesn’t change the fact that Tommy isn’t awake yet. I don’t need the guilt and stress about Tommy making Buck worse.”
“That’s not your call to make, Maddie.” Lucy snapped, arms crossed as she turned to Maddie and then to the others for support. “You might be Buck’s sister, but he’s not a child. He can handle knowing what happened.”
“Lucy, calm down.” Chimney warned, standing up from where he was leaning against the wall. “You can’t blame her for wanting to protect her brother.” He nodded towards the hall, “We know that Buck won’t take it well, do you know how long it took for Buck to get over Tommy? This is just gonna make him spiral more on top of having heart issues too.”
Lucy threw her hands up in the air, “What is the matter with you guys?!” she nearly yelled, this time it was Ravi that stood up to lay a supporting hand on Lucy’s shoulder, he knew Lucy rarely lost her cool- but Tommy was her ride or die since she had joined air-ops. If there was one thing about Lucy, she was fiercely protective of anyone who she considered a brother. “I know the 118 is family and they protect their own or whatever, but Buck isn’t a child or an idiot.” She sneered, looking at Chimney directly for that one, “Bobby already said it, he knows someone rescued him and he’s going to feel bad and guilty and whatever about it, but he’s going to want to be here for Tommy.” She pointed to the aforementioned man, who was still intubated and laying undisturbed as the others argued around him.
“I think we should tell him.” Eddie admitted once the group fell silent, he looked up. Knowing to expect pushback, he continued, “He’s going to have know eventually.” He reasoned, “It’s either we tell him now or later, either way he’s going to be pissed and he’s going to want to see Tommy.” He turned to Maddie this time, looking and sounding stubborn as he warned her, “I’m not lying to him, Maddie. I can’t lie to Buck so it’s not if we should tell him, it’s when.”
Maddie pressed her lips together, her eyes welling up with tears again. “I’ll talk to the Dr. Salazar. See if she recommends if we tell him now or later.” Her tone was cool though, she gave one last glare to Lucy who met her with the same energy.
Bobby gestured to Chim to follow his wife as he went to approach Lucy. “Listen,” he approached Lucy with his hands up in defeat, “I know tensions are high right now with everyone.” He looked at Eddie and Ravi as well, “But no one is trying to hide or lie about what happened, I know its important that Buck knows what happened but both Buck and Tommy just went through something physically traumatizing to their hearts, we need to make sure we don’t stress the out more.” Bobby told her gently, not missing how Lucy had scoffed in the middle of him talking and wiped away her tears as she turned to Tommy. “Lucy, no one is ignoring what Tommy did for Buck, no one from the 118 is going to act as thought Tommy didn’t save Buck.”
“As long as that’s the case, Cap.” Ravi couldn’t help but let a little ire bleed out in his tone, he didn’t want to blame Buck for what happened, but he couldn't help it. It wasn’t lost on any of them why Tommy went in.
He just wished Tommy didn’t literally sacrifice his heart for Buck’s sake…
Again.

Princess Andromeda, Annabeth and Season 2 Predictions
In honor of the season 2 teaser trailer drop, here is an obscenely long and convoluted post stemming from my excitement lol.
Necessary mythological context: Andromeda was Perseus’s wife in the Greek myths. The story goes that her mother boasted about how she was more beautiful than the sea nymphs and so Poseidon sent a monster to ravage their kingdom. Her parents chained her to a rock in the middle of the sea as an offering to the beast to save themselves. Perseus, on his way back from slaying Medusa, ran across her and killed the beast, saving Andromeda. Some more stuff happens but that’s irrelevant to my analysis so let’s just skip to the happily ever after part because they settle down, have a bunch of kids, and live out the rest of their days in peace.
Other than the fact this it is just quite insane to name your boat after the wife of Perseus, it’s also an indicator of Luke’s motivation: Annabeth.
Because, and reader I know you know where this is going, Annabeth is the Andromeda of the PJO story. It’s more explicit in the show (in which they literally have a Perseus who is on a quest to save his mother hold a recently slain Medusa’s head up to kill a monster that has been hunting her since childhood while she watches. Very wild of them, I’ve never stopped thinking about it), but the books aren’t subtle about it either lol.
And this is where the Andromeda parallel really starts getting complicated. Because Annabeth is obviously Percy’s Andromeda, but she’s also Luke’s.
Luke and Thalia find Annabeth at her most vulnerable: her mortal parents have essentially fed her to the wolves by letting her run away, knowing she’ll be hunted by monsters, all to save themselves. Luke and Thalia take her in, care for her, and protect her. If they hadn’t found her, Annabeth very likely would have died. They take her to camp, where Thalia dies, but Luke and Annabeth are safe and they get to live peacefully (for some time).
But, Annabeth still feels trapped in some way. She wants to get out of camp to really prove herself as a warrior and a daughter of Athena. In comes Percy, the second and truer (literally lol) Perseus. He “unchains” her from camp (and Luke) by taking her with him on his quest.
All the tlt stuff happens and Luke betrays them and runs off. Next time we see him he’s an evil frat boy on a yacht named the Princess Andromeda and we NEVER GET AN EXPLANATION FOR WHY THATS THE NAME. Did Luke name it himself? Did it come named Princess Andromeda and, if so, what was Luke’s reaction because I know that man did not need more reminders of Percy around him lmao.
The show already honed in on the Perseus-Andromeda parallels in season 1, so I just know they’re coming up with something crazy for season 2 now that Andromeda’s name has a reason to be brought up.
Definitely think Andromeda’s story is going to be told in some capacity, especially so that people who aren’t mythology nerds can figure out the parallel that they set up in season 1 more completely.
Maybe they’ll replace Agrius and Oreius with it because it could serve the same function. Luke told their story to criticize the gods, and Andromeda’s story can also be used in the same way. I think it’ll be even more interesting because Poseidon plays the villain in her myth.
#did this even make any sense lol#i feel so crazy rn lmao#naming the boat PRINCESS ANDROMEDA and then never speaking about it again has been my roman empire for years#im so excited guys#im going to be thinking about all the possibilities until the new season drops#pjotv#pjo tv show#pjo#percy jackon and the olympians#percy jackson and the olympians#percy jackson#annabeth chase#luke castellan#pjo season 2#the sea of monsters#walker scobell#leah sava jeffries#charlie bushnell#princess andromeda#perseus and andromeda#perseus

Author's note: This was requested, i did a research abt Gregory Alan Isakov's song 'Light year' and it FITS Luke's character as a boyfriend!! (Since it's about a toxic relationship)
__
I woke you up with poetry and stones The ragged and the bones Strewn around the room.
Flashback
"What the actual fuck" You mumbled angrily as you scanned your once organized cabin, now looking like a monster just rummaged through it. Luke was passed out on your bed, his shirt riding up a little bit, His face with unfamiliar kiss marks. Bottles of empty liquor and empty beer cans thrashed around the floor.
After leaving a week or two to visit your mortal father in new york, Instead of being greeted by a clean cabin to sleep in after hours of traveling, You were now kicking every empty beer cans in your way, You adjusted you tote bag that sat on your shoulders heavily, Your hair in a clip, Your eyes with dark circles.
Taking care of your mentally deranged father and his children with another woman wasn't exactly the kind of weekend you wanna spend, But you have no choice after all, It's either your step siblings starve and die or take care of them, and now here you are, With Luke Castellan, A grown teenager treated like a damn baby.
"Luke wake up!" You hissed as you shook the your drunken boyfriend awake, He groaned and mumbled a string of curses before sitting up the headboard. The sunlight passing through your self made daisy patterned curtains.
He looked around and sighed "I thought you'll be back in another week, sorry baby" Luke whispered before leaning in to give you a kiss, But you stepped away, That made the boy roll his eyes, clearly annoyed. He knew what was gonna happen.
"Come here baby, you know i hate that fucking attitude" You scoffed, a silent one before slapping him, Fast and sharp, a red mark appearing on his cheeks.
"You're telling me first which slut you brought here" You gripped his collar, showing himself the kiss marks made by someone, But Luke just chuckled and ran his fingers through his hair.
"Just Quincy from Aphrodite, She's a good kisser unlike you, too bad she left early-"
You shut him up with another slap in his cheeks, This time there were tears streaming down your cheeks.
"YOU HAD THE FUCKING AUDACITY TO THROW A PARTY WHILE IM GONE IN MY OWN CABIN WHILE HOOKING UP WITH A GIRL, LUKE, I WORKED YESTERDAY 13 HOURS STRAIGHT WHILE CHANGING MY SIBLING'S DIAPERS! HOW DO YOU THINK I'LL FEEL?! ALL I WANT IS TO REST AFTER AN EXHAUSTING DAY" You screamed, Uncontrollable rage filling you inside.
"It's not that big of a deal, You're being dramatic" Luke said calmly, as if you were a joke to him.
You were shaking in fury, You love him, you really do.
But sometimes..His attitude is insufferable.
"Fine. Where's my paycheck then? I sent it to you yesterday" You asked him, Yet again, The dark haired boy shrugged.
"Spent it all on beers and sodas"
You felt weak, You don't why, but this is just too much.
So you cried.
"All of it? MY 150$ PAYCHECK THAT I WORKED FOR?" Your voice raised higher, but Luke towered over you, underestimating your small frame.
"Yes, You've got a problem? Don't you ever give me that attitude, I'm the one who got you enrolled in that fancy university that you can't stop talking for months baby, Once i sent them that one video tape of you, You're done" He blackmailed you, Luke smirked as he watched your expression changed.
Of course, Your video tape with him..that video was from three years ago when you two were young and naive and decided it's best to film your first time with luke. Not knowing he'll use it against you.
Over and over again.
You cowered a little bit, mentally rolling your eyes before leaving your cabin, slamming the door shut.
__
I recall another hazy May Take a round in the ring Gone hungry for the win
Flashback
"Do you think we'll be soulmates in every other universe?" You whispered, Luke's muscular arms wrapped around your body as he pulled you close making you giggle softly.
"We could have been" He replied, fidgeting the hem of your yellow summer dress with daisy patterns all over. You two just officially became a couple, He couldn't get enough of you, kissing you everytime and holding your hands proudly. You felt loved and safe.
But you didn't answer, instead, You kissed him, pure of love expressing your undying loyalty to him, He found himself kissing back, gripping your waist, holding you closely.
"I love you so much" He whispered.
And you found yourself melting into his touch.
But then your relationship lost all its sparks.
No more kissing each other every morning or holding hands while striding at camp, It was more like arguing every day over little things.
"Stop it! What is wrong with you?!" You screamed as tears poured down your cheeks, You watched Luke smash another vase, the loud sound clattering.
"You are my girlfriend! you will do as you are told! if i saw you with that boy again i swear to the gods- " He yelled, you cried harder, you covered your ears as he begin yelling again, but then, you felt a sharp pain engulfing you, Luke grabbed your hair, almost pulling it out of your scalp, He dragged you outside your cabin before hurling you down your cabin stairs, you fell and you fell onto the fence, your ribcage caught the most of it.
Not even a day later, you sat in the infirmary, with yellow-ish purple bruises all over your body.
"Are you okay, baby?" Luke's sickly sweet voice asked as he caressed your tear stained cheeks, as if tho he wasn't the one who brutality beaten you.
" 'm fine" You mumbled, fidgeting your skirt, Luke then gave you flowers, Fresh daisies from the gardens of demeter's children.
You smelt the fragrance of the flowers, before feeling another tear roll down your eyes.
__
Heres the part I just lose everything I cracked a spark just to hear you sing Sing
Flashback
"Surprise! Happy Anniversary, Baby!" Luke said as he untied the blindfold, You were greeted by a small, romantic picnic near the lake, Luke gripped your shoulder's from behind before pressing a kiss on your neck.
"Don't you like it?" He asked, Caressing your long hair at the process, But no, You didn't liked it. Even tho he had put so much effort in this simple picnic, you never felt sparkes like before.
Swallowing your distaste, You nodded before being dragged on the picnic blanket by luke, your sandal crunching on the fallen leaves and rocks.
__
I took it out The papers and the trash Old among the cans This golden love gone bad
Flashback
"Sweetheart, I'm so sorry..." Luke whispered, You didn't listen.
Instead, you continued packing your things, shoving clothes after clothes inside you bag, not caring if your freshly ironed clothes came crumpled.
As he tried to touch you, you pulled away angrily.
"You wanna know something? I would rather prefer my dangerous freedom over this peaceful slavery you had done to me" Your eyes met his, but then, You saw him smirk, and pulled out a digital camera, Your loud, wonton moans echoing as he turned the volume louder.
"Freedom over shame? I thought you knew better, baby" He said, you felt your breathing ragged, your hands trembling as you threw you bag on the floor.
You looked around before snatching the camera and breaking it, But it seems like Luke wasn't bothered.
He clearly did something with your tape.
Sensing that you've known, He smirked and started laughing manically. His dark laughter echoing through the cabin walls.
You lost hope now.
Feeling defeat, you slumped your shoulders and fell, You knelt at his feet gripping it tightly, your fresh hot tears dripping on his feet.
"Please" You whispered, Luke just looked down at you, his gaze seemingly judging you. You sobbed harder, pressing your nose against his feet.
"Luke, not this again, Luke, Please, Please"
"Promises are Promises, Baby" The dark eyes boy said, before leaving you.
__
Shined it up Aiming at the sun Just a light year from us Hop a cab ride and we're off
And all the ravens came along to play The simple notes you sang just went astray
Flashback
"I'll be going"
"Okay"
You stopped.
"Just 'Okay' ?" Luke sighed and slammed the book he was reading just, he pinched the bridge of his nose and sighed.
"Yes, Do you expect me to kiss you? Fucking hell you're just going to visit your family, it's not like you're going abroad for fifteen years" He mumbled and leaned against the headboard of his bed.
You just nodded, tears stinging your eyes, threatening to slip.
"Do you want me to buy you anything? Snacks? or mayb-" He slammed his fist into his bedside table, the sound of his lampshade and coffee mug clattering made you flinch.
"Can you just- please shut your damn mouth?"
"Fine." You stormed away, leaving Luke again.
You two weren't always like this, As you stepped outside the camp barrier, You got a glimpse of the Hermes Cabin once more before leaving.
__
Everything was up, its coming down Everything was up, its coming down Coming down
Flashback
You ran around, Dodging attacks and trying not to trip over dead bodies on your way, You couldn't even believe that Luke did all this, The rise of Kronos. The lightning theif.
When you saw him in the distance, Holding a scythe in hand.
"Luke" You called him, with your sweet melodic voice, He turned around, The first thing you saw was his scowl, Then you felt a sharp pierce on the side of your belly.
You barely saw it, But a Chimera had sting you. you gasped, the pain barely registering before you fell down on the cold ground, The blood had dripped, making a scarlet pool right beside you, as you laid down the cold ground, Luke appeared in front of you, Wearing the same evil smirk.
Your hair was scattered in all directions, You truly looked like an angel, With one last kiss on your forehead, Your eyes went still, and before darkness had engulfed your vision, You heard luke say;
"Sleep well, My dear Y/n"

In the Devil au how does everyone react to Athena’s swan dive into the ocean?
(TW discussions of SH, a sewerslide attempt (yes, I know gods can't die, that's what makes it angsty), and mentions of drinking problems)
Oh everyone is fucking HORRIFIED. (I'm including the rest of the Olympians, except Poseidon and Zeus. Zeus is self explanatory, and I can't think of anything good Poseidon would do for her in this AU so... I'll leave that to you guys lol)
Hermes had to retrieve her from the water (he's typically the one to drag Athena back home when she goes to Ithaca), so you KNOW he was worried to find his unconscious sister floating in the freezing cold ocean water with fresh self harm scratches.
Hera, Hestia, and Demeter are doing their best to warm her back up, while Apollo is treating her injuries, checking over her and doing whatever he can to stop the scars from flaring up even more.
Ares would've ripped her a new one if he wasn't so worried about her. This incident just fuels his rage towards Zeus further. He's one of the first gods there when Athena wakes up, and it gets a little tearful between the two (it's tearful for all of them honestly, like, you know it's fucking bad when a little GODDESS tries to off herself knowing she can't even die).
Aphrodite and Artemis don't ask questions (Artemis was definitely ready to pester Athena about it, but Aphrodite reminded her to wait until she was in a slightly better mindset), doing simple little tasks like making sure Athena's room is organized (it 100% isn't after she starts plotting to overthrow Zeus), fixing Athena's hair, just making sure she's taking better care of herself.
Dionysus tries to get SOME information out of her, but Athena just. Completely shuts down. So he makes sure she cuts back a little on the alcohol, noticing how much of a problem her drinking has become.
Hephaestus doesn't say much on the matter, but he obviously stops his work to make sure she's alright. He leaves her a little owl-themed gift, and lets Athena know he's there for her.
Bonus moment for Hades and Persephone just because: They both don't dare mention the Ithacan family around Athena, but they do pop in just to check in on her. After hearing about what happened, Hades sits down and has a long talk with Athena. Persephone leaves her some calming tea blends to help her sleep, letting her know Athena can always come down to the Underworld if she needs some space.
