Tbh, I think it's kind of a waste that the flickies were dropped from Tails' super form in later games. Like I just kind of find it hilarious that while Sonic, Shadow, and arguably even Knuckles go Super Saiyan when they go super, Tails goes Super Disney Princess and summons birds that attack whoever tries to mess with him. I just think it's really funny.

Hi I have a request! (I know it’s not the season but-I wanted to know) do you do Yandere Werehog Sonic? Of a reader who actually love’s werewolves?(if not that’s okay?)
— 「𝐘𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐞! 𝐒𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐜 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐖𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐡𝐨𝐠 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐚 𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐰𝐨𝐥𝐯𝐞𝐬」

╰┈➤ [yandere] Sonic the Werehog x reader
: ̗̀➛ synopsis; How would yandere Sonic act to you in his werehog form?
: ̗̀➛ Type; Platonic/Romantic Headcanons
: ̗̀➛ warning(s); yandere behaviour, obsession, brief mentions of kidnapping, brief mentions of murder.
Likes/Reblogs are always appreciated!! <3
Tumblr media
☆ Sonic in his Werehog form isn’t that different from his usual form. Other than the obvious changes in appearance, he’s still the same funny guy. Just.. a bit more huge and fluffier. Truth be told, he didn’t even know you liked werewolves.
☆ He found it weird— yet oddly comforting—that you didn’t really mind his new form. He loved how you didn’t mind his razor sharp teeth, or the unsettling growl tinting his voice every time he spoke. You loved to feel his fur, and occasionally poke at his fangs to see just how sharp they really are.
☆ Sonic as a yandere would be Clingy, obsessive, possessive & paranoid. This only gets worse when he’s a werehog, as these traits amplify significantly.
☆ Speaking of, I think his clingy and obsessive behaviour would become stronger during this. He already hates being away from you normally, but it just gets worse when he’s a werehog. His jealousy would also skyrocket. He’d also be way more protective of you.
☆ On the topic of jealousy, I don’t think he minds getting his hands dirty. If he feels he needs to, for any reason, he’ll do it under the guise that he’s protecting you. If it’s someone he doesn’t like, he’ll convince himself they’re bad news and need to be taken care of. He’s very protective of you, and he won’t let anything horrible happen to you, so why should he just stand by and let some guy who’s obviously making you uncomfortable talk to you? He’s a friend? Sure he is. You’re just blinded, surely. That’s the only explanation the werehog can come up with after all.
☆ I also think he’d inherit at least some animalistic traits and instincts. I think his sense of smell would be heightened, and so would his needs to protect you. He’d also be a lot faster and stronger than he was before. He’d become familiar with your scent rather quickly, and it’s like a drug to him. He craves you, to hold you close and claim you as his, but he knows better than to kidnap you. Not immediately, at least. Besides, he knows you can never outrun him even if you tried your hardest, much less be able to struggle against him. Sure you can try, but he’s not letting you go that easily.
☆ Taken over by his animal instincts, he can’t help but give you gifts of his own. It’ll start small, with little dead animals such as mice or even flickies. But then it’ll grow bigger, with every kill Sonic commits in your honor being delivered straight to your house. Whether you choose to accept his gifts or run away is completely up to you. But that doesn’t mean they’ll stop, nor will Sonic. He loves the chase, after all. Plus, he’d act like a wounded puppy if you found out it was him and expressed your distaste.
☆ I think he’d find it adorable how tiny you are compared to him. He loves to pick you up and spin you around. There’s just something about you being smaller that just drives him crazy. (No, not like that.) This would be followed by him squishing you in a hug, allowing you to be basically wrapped around his warm fur as he smiled, his sharp teeth allowing themselves to be seen. That’s one of his favourite things do to with you— to hug and cuddle you. It makes him think he’s protecting you, and allows him to be closer to you, both physically and emotionally.

What happens to all your sonic prime ocs at the end?
i feel like i've answered this before... but when i looked, i couldn't find the ask i was thinking of... so maybe i just made that up. oh, well.
prism dies. you knew this already. android prism does not die. though, nine really wants to kill him for awhile there. but he finds he can't--or, more accurately, won't--do it. :)
bullet is freed from his full-time-no-benefits-basically-just-imprisonment "job" working for the chaos council. the flickies are ok. he succeeded in protecting them. now he gets to enjoy their company and his life without the threat of imminent destruction weighing over him 24/7.
halcyon joins the megaflora hive. by choice. they come to understand each other, and their endless cycle of violence comes to an end. no one needs to die. the plants, scavengers, and refugee citizens of the space colony ARK can all live together in harmony, because the megaflora and halcyon are greater than their original purposes, and they can forge their own paths. together. it's quite beautiful imo...
windthrow has to say goodbye to his father figure, ""eggman,"" but he has the scavengers and halcyon now. he'll be alright.
bermuda gives up his grudge against the surface dwellers... for the most part. he's no longer actively trying to kill them at every moment, at least. so, what's left for him? he isolates himself for a while after the events of the show, sad in spite of himself that the first person who managed to gain his trust since the ARK incident--prime sonic--is gone, but there's always unfinished business in the sonic universe, and the final hazard looms for the world of No Place, necessitating the teamwork of him and his... bitter?... enemy, gale.
gale suffers for awhileee due to losing the chaos emeralds. after being fused with them for his whole life, their sudden absence makes him feel weak and disoriented. to make matters worse, bermuda's siren song--which he had previously been immune to thanks to the emeralds' protection--suddenly compels him. but bermuda is just as shocked as gale when he appears before him one stormy night, and quickly deems it an unfair advantage. though, it was certainly tempting to drag him under... bermuda just lets gale go, much to gale's confusion. what can i say? maybe there's some of lancelot's honor in bermuda after all.
regardless, gale continues adventuring like he always has.

a different recording was transmitted just before your request for backup. sonic shoved you out of the way to protect you from.. something. what happened?
Tails: oh! Some of the footage from before the everything went down must have stayed uncorrupted.
Tumblr media
I had gotten at least 9 or 10 SOS signals in an hour from all from different towns, villages, and cities. It was super stressful but as always Sonic lead me, Amy, and Knuckles into battle.
Tumblr media
Each zone we went too was packed with badniks coming at us left and right and Eggman was no where in sight
Tumblr media
But we pulled through as always!
Tumblr media
I thought we’d won the battle when I saw that my camera fell from my plane. I wanted to record our victory…
Until… I don’t exactly know, those robots weren’t being powered by flickys or even wisps… it was… I don’t know…

Flynn saying that Amy should move on from Sonic because their dynamic will never get a "proper conclusion", and it gets in ths way of her character shows a clear misunderstanding of Sonic and Amy dynamic, and Amy herself. Amy doesn't follow Sonic around just because she loves him, but she also loves adventures like him, she can help people while loving Sonic, like on sa1 where she helps and a small flicky, befriends gamma and even protects it from Sonic.
Tumblr media
Putting the clip here to let everyone experience how snide and mocking he sounds. "Will they have kisses one day? 🥴" shut up, you are a paid professional ffs.
Tumblr media
I'm not afraid of calling it sexist. I'm not saying Flynn, as a person, is some sort of asshole misogynist, but there is a very obvious pattern in the things he writes and says, ever since his Archie days and continuing nowadays: he clearly doesn't like cute, feminine traits in female characters, and he prefers masculine traits that he associates to maturity (something something sally). I don't like it. You can let Amy have her silly harmless crush and still write her with respect. Sonic considers her a trustworthy friend eve in games where she's more forward with her infatuation (SA1). There was no need for him to waltz in like he owns the place because he got tired and he wanted them to "move on", like some sort of fic writer who ships the two with other characters and wants to break their canon dynamic.
And I still hate his rhetoric that "she has so much love to give, she has potential!". What a slap in the face towards the character. Amy's most famous scenes are precisely her giving love to people other than Sonic! The Flicky, Gamma, Shadow, Big, Cream, Silver, even Professor Pickle in the ending of Unleashed, all people she protected or supported or comforted in times of need without Sonic involved. You are not revolutionizing anything! I'm not pretending Amy was peak character in the 2000s, but she was not always a Sonic-obsessed yandere. Hell, you can't even say "muh meta era, he needs to fix the bad pontaff writing", because she was perfectly fine in Lost World and Forces. Do I need to repeat how little Frontiers does with its supposed "character development" moments? Or how Amy, in her quest to "give love" to the Kocos, accidentally forgets that Tails' life is in danger?
I'm glad Twitter for once dragged his ass.

Another Sonic Prime AU
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Well then I suppose I am obligated to share if you're staring that intently! :)
To preface my explanation I would like to state that Shadow can traverse through the Shatterspaces on account of how else are they gonna get home? There is a catch though. That being that it becomes draining to stay in a Shatterspace for too long. He can stay in one maybe like a day or two but if he doesn't return to the void and rest there he risks the same potential fate canon Sonic risks at the end of season 3.
Anyways, infodump about Sonic's situation below:
So instead of him starting in New Yoke he's pretty obviously started in Boscage Maze. He comes hurtling out of the sky and before he can regain any bearings he slams head-first into a tree that happens to be situated in a place where he then drops into the Scavenger's territory.
As you can probably imagine, the scavengers do not take kindly to his presence. They find him passed out and tie him up for questioning. And when he does wake up he's extremely confused and has no idea what's happening- even more unable to answer any and all questions they might have than in canon. They (mostly Prim) don't take kindly to his confusion 'act' and accuse him of trying to come and steal from them but failing miserably and injuring himself in the process. Eventually Prim decides to have Gnarly throw him over the edge WHILE STILL TIED UP and tells him something along the lines of "if you live then maybe you'll gain a little more respect".
Literally the only reason he comes out relatively unscathed is because he instinctively curls into a ball as a defense mechanism. It kinda hurts due to the bindings but it works- he lives. He then manages to free himself and, in true Sonic fashion, has this inexplicable urge to run once he regains his bearings. But he doesn't get too far because without any limiters the Prism energy inside him is prone to bubbling up and eventually spilling out in a way that starts to burn up his shoes.
Not knowing what else to do he goes into survival mode. He doesn't know how he knows some of things he does but he's thankful for it regardless. Then comes a pivotal turning point in the plot...
He saves these baby flickies from a giant wild cat (i assume there's probably more than giant flickies in Boscage Maze that we just didn't get to see) by taking a hit for them in his panic to protect them and as it happens, the parents saw the whole thing. They come swooping and chase off the giant and, appreciative of him saving their babies, decide to help nurse him back to health. Since this is Sonic he does recover faster than your average mobian but it's definitely not Shadow levels of fast.
By the end of him recovering he's hesitant to leave them. They'd been the only ones to show him compassion so far and it's not like he really knew anything about where he was. So when they attempt to nudge him back into the wild he makes it very obvious that he wants to stay with them. And having bonded while he was recovering, the flickies are like "okay fine you can stay" in their own bird way.
And since I like angst there's quite a few things that happen to him before Shadow finds him, with the most notable one being how the Prism energy effects him since he doesn't have limiters/regulators to keep them at bay.
Since the Shatterspaces are heavily implied to be made up of Prism energy in some way and that in canon his shoes and gloves adapted to the world he was in, something similar happens. But unlike canon he has no way to suppress it. So instead of just changing his shoes and gloves it starts to effect him physically. And adapting to his surroundings, he takes on giant flicky-like qualities. Up to a certain length his hands and feet become more bird-like and his arms develop giant flight feathers. He doesn't get a beak but now most of his teeth are sharp fangs and he's got that little pattern on his face that Birdie has. To top it off he's grown a few feet and has the ability to control plants to a small extent.
And although this isn't because of the Prism energy, it's worth noting that his time spent with the giant flickies has rubbed off on him in that he learns how to communicate with/understand them and might have developed a few bird-like habits that I need to think on. (if anybody knows any interesting bird specific habits do tell) He also becomes a Mangey-like situation where he doesn't really know how to speak anymore (except bird noises) and has very feral tendencies.
And then Shadow comes along and has to not only deal with trying to put their world back together with Sonic the way he is but when their world DOES get put back together he's also going to have to deal with explaining Sonic's situation and help reintegrate him into society since he's the only one he feels inclined to trust besides Tails.
As a side note he very much does not like Rouge, Knuckles, and Amy in that order due to his not so good experiences with their Boscage variants.

Been thinking a lot about this and wanted your thoughts. Isn't it strange the only character shown to not be openly afraid or judgemental of Shadow is Amy? I think the only one that comes close to that is Rouge but even then
A lot of characters are easily intimidated, scared of, not trustful or even judgey of Shadow a lot of the time. Which given some past actions and his general vibe is understandable but it never seems to apply to Amy
Even when she mistook him for Sonic she wasn't immediately scared afterwards just confused and later encourages him to save the world because she believes that he is a good person deep down. It's especially prominent in the Sonic takeover video, like when it's revealed that both Shadow and Amy enjoy Taylor Swift?
Sonic is surprised that Shadow the Edgy boy likes a pop artist and treats is a semi big deal. Amy meanwhile is just happy they have something in common, not even a 'oh that's surprising coming from you', just general happy they share similar music tastes
I might be thinking too deeply into it but it occurred to me that Amy never treats Shadow as someone to be scared of and treats him as no different from anyone else right from the start.
Tbh, I don’t think it’s strange at all. It’s standard Amy behavior. Metal Sonic is a scary robot who kidnapped her as a kid, but she still helped him without hesitation in that Sonic Mania short, even after he startled her. Gamma was an armed robot who was keeping her in a cell, but she didn’t show any fear toward him; she stood up to him to protect a Flicky, then befriended him immediately. She saw Silver nearly murder Sonic with incredible powers she’d never encountered before, and she still jumped in front of him to protect Sonic anyway. The werehog was big and scary, but not only did she accept Sonic in that form, she hugged the werehog the first time she saw him and showed no discomfort about it, merely expressing confusion at having hugged the wrong person even though she actually got it right that time.
She just doesn’t see anyone as a monster. And while that’s wonderful and wholesome, it’s a little worrisome, too. Rouge likes and trusts Shadow, but I don’t think she’s unaware of the extensive damage he could do. Omega probably feels the same way. That’s the wise way of looking at it.
But Amy? It’s not just her faith in the goodness of others, it’s straight-up naiveté. Her upbringing was rife with violence, kidnapping, danger, and death, and now she doesn’t know what’s normal. This is the same girl who somehow waltzed onto Prison Island with the intention of casually rescuing Sonic from a high-security prison by herself. If Tails hadn’t shown up, she easily could’ve died! She’s honestly lucky she’s gotten this far without being seriously injured or worse.
I’m sure Shadow loves that she doesn’t fear him and truly values her for that, even if he doesn’t say so, but he’d worry about her, too. I can picture him thinking, “She clearly has no sense of self-preservation. I’ll have to look after her to make sure nothing happens.” Maybe he already does. It could figure into their interactions at Cryptic Castle in ShTH. This sweet girl takes one look at him, of all people, as terrifying as he knows he is--on the darkest story routes you can take, no less--and she says, “Friend? :D” before running off alone into a dangerous, haunted castle to save a child and a Chao. So he follows her. Because she clearly doesn’t know how to stay safe. And she’d be safer by his side than pretty much anyone else’s not only because he’s as strong as you can get in this universe, but because he’ll go farther than anyone else to protect the ones he loves. He knows how it feels to lose someone important, and he won’t let it happen again. It’s time someone put Amy first!
Still can’t figure out how Sega made these two characters so perfect for each other *by accident.* Most movies I’ve seen can’t craft things so well even on purpose.

The best part of Amy’s character will always be her ability to meet others at a personal level.
Sonic, Knuckles, and Tails all take a dynamic approach to their problems, and it works for the most part. There’s no comprise when it comes to Eggman; he is what he is. He hurts others for personal gain, for scientific discovery and the power that knowledge brings. Sympathy is just another tool for him to use at the end of the day.
Amy, while a spitfire at times, doesn’t have powerful fists, or super speed, or highly advanced weaponry to back up her outbursts. She has her hammer and all, and it has come in handy at times, but I love that she can see through others so well, while her friends don’t really bother. It’s a nice way to convey to your audience that you don’t have to be a super hero to make a difference in the world. Sometimes all it takes is to say a kind word to facilitate change.
She sees that Gamma could be better than a flunky of Eggman’s. She feels sorry for the robot for lacking the capacity to love; her willingness to stand up for that little Flicky even at her own risk touches something deep down inside of Gamma, so much so that it releases her from her cell and turns a blind eye to her escape. Later, she stands between it and Sonic, begging him to show Gamma mercy because she was shown the same by Gamma.
And of course, there’s her scene with Shadow, which requires no explanation. It took two beatings from Sonic for Shadow to gain some respect for his rival, but it took a heartfelt plea from this normal girl for him to let go of his bitterness and act on his love for his friend Maria by protecting the people that he once wanted to annihilate.
Just more of that, please! It’s such an encouraging message!

Hello Knuckles! Are there a lot of animals like Flickies and such on the island (since it's pretty remote)? Do you get along with them? Do they visit while you're guarding the emerald?
Tumblr media
Angel island has a wide variety of animals. Flickies are among them. While they can be mischievous, they're altogether harmless. At most they hide something or like to prank each other... they're like children really. I would never call one mean, aside from this one Ricky. He is a notable exception and if I could I would drop him off in the Mystic Jungle.
As for touching the Master Emerald... No. They don't. It used to be that they just could not reach it when in it's old pedestal. Since then I have moved it quite a bit but it's found a comfortable home now. Oddly... wherever the Master Emerald goes it grows quiet... like they're respecting it's space. Maybe it's just because I do such a good job at protecting it!

Details, expressions and dynamics with other characters
My oc of Sonic, Eva Black
I want to put a little context, especially to my character's interaction with others.
Knuckles and Eva Black grew up together, they are practically siblings. Despite not being an echidna, she was raised alongside Knuckles as equals and one of their own. They protect each other, care for each other, and tease each other like any family would.
Due to certain circumstances, she would leave Angel Island, and live in the city, where she would meet her best friends, Lindsey and White (bottom left drawing). Eva would not meet Sonic and her company until much later, since few know that she and Knuckles are siblings, and both do not mention it to anyone.
Eva would have a shelter away from the city, where she shelters and rescues animals and flickies that have been used by Eggman, where she rehabilitates them so that they can return to their wild state, so she will meet Amy, who finds out about this shelter, and helps Eva to support it, becoming friends, later Eva would meet Sonic and other company.
With Sonic they would have a dynamic of friendship, and somewhat competitive, their sense of humor is similar, and they enjoy each other's company. Eva will try to stop Sonic from being so evasive about his feelings towards others, and she will tease him many times to get him to notice Amy.
Shadow and Eva would meet for GUN matters (future details of my lore), and they would help each other to get what they want. With her collaboration, she would meet Rouge, they establish a good friendship, and with this, Eva teases Knuckles because she knows that he likes Rouge.
Later she would end up falling in love with Shadow, but she never tells him.
Thank you for reading this far. If you are interested in my oc and her story, you can ask without problems.

Random Speedy headcanons because that's my job in this hellsite
Speedy's arms is just what would happen if you defeathered a mobian bird. The difference was that he was born that way (cue the lady gaga song)
Unlike what others may think, it would be easier for Tails to reason with him than someone like Jet (Speedy's contempt for Jet is much more personal, after all). If he sees that green fuck it's ON SIGHT
He always had chronic pain due to *ahem* troubled hatching, but after the Cocoa Island incident, moving around on his jetpack became much more regular
Call him the Batman of the Sonic kiddies, because his ass WILL do 4D chess with EVERYTHING
Despite his rather... "edgy" attitude, he is very easy to become attached. He isn't really proud of this, as he sees this as the reason why shit happens to him (due to Jet and Tails mainly)
Speedy actually has a little hobby in fixing some of Fukurokov's robots. He doesn't tell that to anyone because he knows how annoying the old owl would be towards him
Brutally honest. If he finds you ugly he WILL say it out loud
He ended up being "captured" by the Witchcarters one day because he was thought to be an overgrown Flicky™
Despite being the soon-to-be Battle Lord, Speedy is much more used to obey orders than give them
Gaia's worst socializer™
When Speedy and Jet met, he was 4 and Jet was 10
Shockingly dense. Do not use sarcasm with him
Due to the lack of feathers on his arms, he is much more caring to the rest of his feathers
Unfortunately, he also tends to lose feathers a lot (curse of the stress)
Speedy is secretly terrified of Bean. Do not activate the fight or flight response of the flightless bird
Non-zero chance that he thinks girls have cooties
Terrified of loud noises. He already has to deal with his father :(. This includes thunder (do not tell Tails that! 👀💦)
Not very surprising that he has PTSD from like, everything
Very sensitive to his own flaws and feels guilt easily
Has many nervous tics and overall stims. He is very easy to mask them, though, even if not needed
Probably the biggest fan of Soar the Eagle (bird flying with a jetpack that called out Tails at some point? Sign me in!)
Wouldn't mind wearing more femme clothing if it wasn't for his father (that closed is barred with wood)
All he eats is probably just military food. If he eats a chilli dog he either dies on the spot or ascends to the fourth dimension
Professional at unnerving near anyone that stands beside him
He does not give a fuck about Sonic like, at all. Probably sees him as a random guy that grew out of Tails' hip
Very fittingly, his first instinct is alway fight, not flight
He doesn't really have friends, and if he sees someone as his friend, he probably calls them his "allies". However, if he sees someone as his ally, he will go to hell and back to protect them
Having featherless wings/arms is not all bad, actually. He has very sharp talons and will use them when needed
When he's feeling more comfortable or sees someone as his equal, he crosses his arms. If not, he keeps them on his back
Coping mechanism is throwing all bad feelings in a box and throwing it in the middle of the ocean
He tries to be more rational than emotional, but it more often than not doesn't work out

Postgraduate work
“You’re in for it now, fox!” an amplified voice boomed out. “Come out and show yourself!”
Sonic sprang upright, going from asleep to ready-to-fight in moments. “Uh oh. It sounds like Eggman’s out for another fight!”
“Yeah, that’s what it sounds like to me, too!” Tails agreed.
He opened the door to his room, entering the main room where Sonic had been snoozing in front of the TV. “I guess we’d better see what’s going on! Maybe he’s got some evil scheme planned!”
“Evil schemes do seem like his thing!” Sonic agreed. “Let’s get this sorted out!”
“I wonder why he was asking about me, though,” Tails wondered.
Sonic was out of their house first, and he pointed at Eggman’s hovering Egg Calamity. “You’re going down, Eggman! Whatever your evil plan is, I’ll stop it at Sonic speed!”
“Gya ha ha!” Eggman laughed. “You do that, and your friend Mr. Prower will be sorry!”
“What are you threatening, Eggman?” Sonic asked. “You can’t stop me by threatening my friends, I’ll just save them and stop you like every time before!”
“This time, it’s different!” Eggman replied, then his voice got quieter. “Hold on, hold on, I put the script somewhere…”
“It’s there, boss,” a different voice said.
“I knew that!” Eggman griped, as the volume returned to normal. “Ahem! Miles Prower! This is a formal notice from the University of Central City! Your performance will-”
“Oh, I get it!” Tails realized. “Yeah, I should have known that was today!”
He tapped a watch on his wrist, and part of the ground rose up next to the house. It revealed a workshop, twice the size of the house, and a moderately giant robot stomped forwards to stand next to Tails.
“What are you talking about, little buddy?” Sonic asked. “I know this is Eggman so we’re going to beat him, guaranteed, but I usually have a better idea why I’m smacking him around…”
“Oh, please do!” Eggman requested.
“Sorry, Sonic, this is something I have to do myself,” Tails replied, climbing up into the cockpit of his robot, then flicking some switches. Four little mechanical bird robots flew out of hatches on the side, taking up positions to orbit around his main robot, and the whole thing took off as a pair of helicopter blades deployed.
“Aha!” the big man laughed. “Already, you demonstrate your ignorance of the field, Prower! Those airscrew blades might suffice for small distance, short range and low speed applications, but jet engines are far superior!”
“Au contraire!” Tails replied, spooling up the blades. “That’s true for a conventional airscrew, but as you’ll see on page five I’ve developed a novel form of airscrew that retains efficient power transfer up to three times the speed of sound! It’s based on my tails, naturally!”
“Grrrh!” Eggman grumbled. “Well, if that’s the case, then I’m sure you can get out of the way of my Egg Missiles!”
A dozen high-speed missiles flashed out at Tails’s robot, and the robo-flickies darted forwards. Their wings unsheathed to reveal monofilament blades, which diced the projectiles to pieces, and Tails launched his robot upwards in a high-speed jump that avoided the detonating remains of the attack.
Not content with that, Tails slewed his propellers to slide left instead, then right, and finally stopped moving in a hovering position behind Eggman’s Egg Calamity.
“As you can see, the propeller system can more rapidly reverse direction, and provide regenerative braking!” Tails said. “Which is exactly as I outlined on page six!”
“Uh,” Sonic asked, raising his hand.
“You haven’t had the last laugh, Prower!” Eggman seethed, spinning his Egg Calamity through a hundred and eighty degrees. “What about control mechanisms! It would be a shame if you were controlling your defensive drones through something… vulnerable to an electromagnetic pulse!”
The Egg Calamity crackled and fizzed, then detonated a pulse of electricity. Tails’s robot also fired out a pulse of electricity, negating the EMP Eggman had launched, and the flickies flew into a protective position between the two battle machines.
“Phase-inverted pulse protection!” Tails said proudly. “It’s not just an EMP generator built into the Dissertailstion, but it’s also-”
“You called it a what?” Eggman asked.
“Okay, okay, time out!” Sonic demanded. “What’s going on here?”
“He doesn’t know?” Eggman said, sounding baffled.
“Hey, cut him some slack!” Tails replied. “He’s not done much school… right, Sonic? I’m pretty sure I’d have remembered you doing a university course.”
Sonic began to protest, then remembered that both the other people in the conversation were the smartest people on the planet.
“Yeah, if this is a college thing I wouldn’t know,” he replied. “So what is it, then?”
“It’s simple!” Tails said. “I’m trying to get my degree in Advanced Super Technical Robotics, but I failed to anticipate ahead of time that the only other person on the planet able to evaluate my work was Dr. Ivo Robotnik!”
“Robotnik?” Sonic repeated. “Is that his real name?”
He snorted. “Wow. You mean Eggman was a choice?”
“Insolent hedgehog!” Eggman seethed.
“But that still doesn’t explain anything!” Sonic added. “Why did he turn up to fight you, and why can’t I help?”
Tails shrugged. “You can’t get someone else to help with your thesis defence.”

Okay I can't take it anymore
Here's an in depth analysis on Sonic and Knuckles, their relationship to the other, and the sun and moon design trope
Sonic
Sonic is, at his core, a free spirit. He is constantly looking for adventure, and jumping into action whenever he is needed. This often puts him into opposition against various bad guys, because the more he defeats them, the more that pop up and want to have a go at the impossible challange.
And like, take over the world, I guess. Typical villain stuff
It's also important to note that, in cannon, sonic is 15 years old. Being a hero at such a young age, I mean, wow that's gotta be some responsibility. Originally, speaking from origins, Sonic just started out using his speed to help little animals get out of traps. Then, just a kid, he encounters eggman and finds out he's behind such a terrible thing. He doesn't know what to do, obviously, because he's a literal child, but knows he can't let his animal friends be hurt like this.
He also knows that he's not like the other mobians, he's faster, more resilient, and that makes him the perfect candidate for the job. He takes down eggman's bigger bots, rescues flickies, and everything is good!
Until eggman retaliates. Because obviously the evil bad guy can't let anyone foil his plans! Anyway, this is a rough timeline of events as to how Sonic most probably got stuck being the hero. He helped some animals, and the threat got bigger, but he stuck with it because he realised he COULD do some good with his powers. Then the threats escalated, and now the entire world depends on him.
(Also, it's worth noting here that Sonic has the 'live in the moment' mentality. Obviously he does heroism because he CARES, like a lot, and he wants OTHER people to be able to enjoy their own 'live in the moment' mentalities because he's an optimist and wants the best for people. Obviously that's also one of the driving forces of his heroism, he's a surprisingly complex character ok it's hard to put it all into words all at once. But this also means that he tries to have fun with it, he DOES enjoy his adventures. Hes clearly a bit of a thrill seeker, he makes the most of a bad situation no matter how dire it is because not only is that a coping mechanism, but one of his personal life mottos. I also personally beleive that he knows how dangerous his line of work is, and that if he DOESNT live life to the most while he has it, he'll regret it in the event that he doesnt make it back one day)
Anyway
Along the way, he's stopped worrying about himself, because he's developed a hero complex. All the pressure put on his character makes him disregard his own safety for others, always making HUGE personal sacrifices for the 'greater good', and pushing his pain aside just so he can help. Sonic is still a child, and he's grown up around violence and heroism and now he has a duty to protect people. Because he can.
Because he's the ONLY one who can
People say so on multiple occasions. When it's, not entirely true? I mean, don't get me wrong, Sonic is a force to be reckoned with, and at some point that statement may have even been true! But its just,,,not, anymore??
When shadow first arrived he was established to have speed that matches sonics, at least to some extent, and a steely moral compass as a result of his past with Maria. He joins GUN in an attempt to make good on his promise (and probably some other government stuff, I mean being an experiment from 50 years ago gets you tangled up in some shit), and he can TELEPORT, as well as hone chaos energy in ways that Sonic can't even manage.
Well, we've never seen him manage, at least.
Here's a quick list of all of Shadows abilities:
Super speed
Immortality
Increased stamina
Spindash
Ability to use firearms
Chaos control (teleportation)
Chaos control (ability to slow or stop time, apparently?)
Chaos spear
Chaos blast
Increased healing factor
Super form
Now, here's a lost of Sonics abilities:
Super speed
Increased acrobatics and agility
Resilience to damage
Strong sense of spirit
Increased stamina
Spindash
Hand to hand combat skills
Chaos control (+1 emerald)
Super form
Both hedgehogs have an impressive arsenal of abilities under their belt, for sure. But even with Sonics collection of skills, some of them are just that. Skills
For Shadow, Chaos energy runs through his veins so extremely that he needs to wear POWER CANCELLING cuffs. He was designed, built, for such power. Take note of how Sonics list includes more generalised and LEARNABLE skills, while Shadows includes more actual 'powers', so to speak
So. Is sonic the ONLY one capable of saving the world? NO! in fact, Shadow has helped do just that on multiple occasions. I'm not saying one is more powerful than the other, or better suited to the role, but Sonic is under the impression that he's alone in this when he's not
Shadow may not have sonics optimism, or social superiority, but he's a GOOD hedgehog, and they both possess amazing abilities that they choose to use for good. Sonics often telling people that they don't have to fight alone, but often takes the leap and does JUST THAT When he deems a situation too dangerous for anyone to risk their lives for
Once, he was the only mobian with powers strong enough to face great evils. Even with the help of Tails and Amy, they were both still kids, younger than himself, who were normal all things considered. Yes, Tails could fly, and yes, Amy could haul a hammer twice her size, but they were still not as strong as him. So, they couldn't be risked. Underneath it all, despite their help, he was always stronger, always the most fit for life threatening missions, and he would take it all in stride
And then there was Knuckles, and then Shadow, and then Silver and Blaze somewhere down the line. All superpowered beings to some extent, having chaos energy (or sol energy) running through them at such a rate that they could ACTUALLY compare to Sonic.
Once, he was the ONLY person strong enough to take on the threats alone. But now? There are others, strong and diffrent like him, who could equally take on the fight with or without his help.
And yes, as they grow and get stronger, the threats DO tend to get more dangerous, but that's why they're all there together. Obviously the threat level will increase, and they will always find away to defeat it per the age rating on the game being allowable for the delicate emotions of optimistic children (and me) that our hero's can concour ANYTHING. But still, they have so many allies that that almost doesn't matter
My point being; he does not need to take on all this pressure by himself.
A lot of the time, at least with major threats such as the metal virus or neo metal sonic (shout out to IDW comics for consuming my brain and producing the most gut wrenching storyline to ever exist in the sonic universe) he's almost FORCED to accept help? I'm not saying he wouldn't have already, but he had a bit of a tendancy to be like 'hey, I got this' *finger guns* when he does not in fact got this. And sure maybe he does eventyally and all that, but you have to admit a LOT of the threats he takes on are like ridiculous to the point you have to brace yourself when he goes into battle. Likes we know sonic is strong but Jesus, that little man takes on some POWERFUL enemies
(Quick case and point: metal virus, being captured on the death egg in forces, being KILLED BY MEPHILES!!! Clearly he isn't indestructible, sometimes he bites off more than he can chew alone)
Ok back on topic now.
The MAIN reason why people look to him as 'the only one who can help them' is because of reputation and carisma. You know why Shadow was disposed of so quickly during the metal virus arc? Because he would have been a GREAT help, and the two of them working together would have toppled the virus MUCH quicker
(And bc they reversed his goddamn character arc AGAIN bc nobody can get it right apparently)
Anyway, because Sonic has gone his entire life with his mentality, people have looked up to him on some kind of pedestal. This just deepens the cycle of it all, making him hold himself accountable, or bare too much burden, and the confident facade is just the icing on the cake.
Because people look up to him, as a hero, a role model, and as a GOOD, and FRIENDLY person. They see him, caring and kind and never giving up, and rely on him. In contrast, Shadow keeps to a distance and is mostly cold to civilians, with the exception of Cream and possibly Vanilla and the Chaotix (Although wether the chaotix should be considered civilians is up for debate). This means that less people call to HIM, when they're in danger. He's under less pressure, people don't put him under a spotlight, but they DO with sonic
And now, whether he wants it or not, he is THE hero
Admittedly, I think Sonic does enjoy being a hero
To an extent, he sort of has to be. He's kind and caring cause that's who he is. He runs because he wants to, and he saves people because he wants to as well. Obviously there's pressure there, but he got into it in the first place because he wanted to do good. And doing a good thing makes him...Happy. content. Proud, even
Hes free like the wind, is what they say, and he IS. He doesn't WANT to quit being a hero, but I'd imagine sometimes he thinks about it. It's a stressful life, every eye on you when something goes wrong, waiting for you to fix it. And sometimes he doesn't have the answers, and that's okay
But some people won't see it that way, see him as a failure. And that's the true bitterness of being worshipped
So yes, while he's sort of trapped in his role, I wouldn't say he wanted to let go of it anyway. He knows someone has to do it, which is a daunting feeling because he also knows that person has to be HIM- but, he enjoys saving people, so it's not all bad
Knuckles
Knuckles the echidna, the last of his tribe, stuck on a floating island in complete isolation.
Well, there's a lot to say about him, I'll admit. So, let's just start small
First of all, Knuckles' isolation has left him slightly naive, which was the original reason that he fell for eggmans lies. This is, of course, because he's been alone for SO long, that he hadn't a clue as to the social clues of a lie. That, and his ONE presumed purpose in life was to look after the master emerald, in which he would do anything to protect
So, a mixture of passion, protectiveness, rage, and naivety, were what lead to the events of Sonic 3 and Knuckles.
The absolute isolation and lack of alterior purpose leave knuckles struggling a lot. He has other ambitions and goals, obviously, he LOVES exploring, and he can read many ancient dialecs which come from his architect passion. The one thing keeping him confined to his island is the emerald
And the implications that follow. See, he's the last of his kind. And, because of that, he has NOBODY who can understand the EXACT and finite details of his situation on an emotional level. He can ask nobody for guidance, instead fumbling blindly under the belief that 'this is what they would have wanted', without actually being able to ASK
Knuckles protects the master emerald because he thinks it's what he's supposed to do. And, It is obviously, but he's so focused on not disappointing his fallen tribe that he disregards his own wellbeing a lot for it
He stays at the shrine 24/7, only leaving when the fate of, quite literally, the ENTIRE WORLD is at stake. He's on his island, alone. Speaking realistically, no one person should be assigned that task. Within the tribe before their passing, many would have protected the emerald, and in healthy shifts
Except, Knuckles doesn't have that choice. So he's cemented to his fate, but he does WANT to do other things. In fact, his time on the island has probably INCREASED the hunger for exploration and adventure
So, let's think forces for a second.
Knuckles was the captain of almost an entire ARMY, he lead them, and took on the pressure of responsibility, and that's something quite interesting. See, you'd assume that his time on the island would null his skills with others in that regard, but he has a striking skill when it comes to organisational battle plans.
Hes the same in the metal virus arc
Knuckles is often taking up big, important positions despite his initial lack of social grace. And, deep down, I think this is connected to his tribe.
See, he has this task that he's been confined to, with no guidance at all. He thrives off of the assumption of his tribe, and does his job with steely focus. When he takes up that position as a leader, he takes up the responsibility that weighs similarly to the responsibility of taking care of the master emerald
(Here, he's also able to give OTHER people the guidance he so needed in his times of struggle. By being that someone that can be trusted, and looked to for answers, I feel like it almost quenches some of his deep rooted abandonment issues)
In both scenarios, people are expecting him to protect something, and lead. Be strong, responsible, and altogether a beacon of hope. The key difference is that, this time, he has reassurance. He can see his efforts paying off, he can see his plans play live infront of his eyes, and he saves people. Directly, not just through avoidance, but ACTIVELY protects people
But it's a lot
Even for Knuckles, it's a LOT. because when you're guarding something with expectations of people who aren't there, there's no disappointment. There's only assumedly so, (which im pretty sure hes prone to exagerating because he holds his old tribe up on the same sort of pedistal that most hold sonic. In the sort of heavenly devinity that makes the 'they can do no wrong' thing really prominant, but also he knows about traditions and rules and probaly assumes that they would be SUPER strict, so he holds himself in extremely high expectation as if to please a god) and there isn't death. There isn't pressure that grows as tides change, as people leave and get presumed dead, as lives under his watch aren't at risk. War is an ever changing responsibility, where REAL lives that you can actually comprehend because they're right in front of you, are at stake
I imagine he originally took up the role because watching the master emerald is similar. He protects mobian and human lives alike by doing so, if he watches the emerald and stops it from being stolen, he protects people. And if he watches over this army of people and steers them in the right way, he protects people
Also, it's clear from frontiers that Knuckles is actually really interested in strategy and ancient combat and the like. So it's also possible it's a part of his architect and exploratory interest in diffrent historical events peeking through
When Sonic was taken to the death egg, people assumed he was dead. Sonic was, by all means, a beacon of hope. He provided determination, and gave everybody the idea that, eventually, they would get out of the tough spot
So, when he 'died', Knuckles was left with that job. He had to keep moral high, and hope imminent.
But he's not that good at it. He preaches glory, victory, an end to the war, but people lose hope anyway because Sonic is held in such high regard that people can't seem to beleive that he was bested. And if sonic was bested, then, well...what's the use in trying? NOBODY could match his skill, and he's dead now. So hope is gone and what's the point?
So, it's a tough spot for him. He's lost a friend, everybody is depressed, he doesn't know the first thing about sonics impression of hope, and he's stuck playing leader to a war he himself is giving up on
Don't get him wrong, he wants to WIN. wants to avenge those who killed his friend, and face glory and peace once again. But he just...can't. The pressure is piling up, and while he gradually builds up others confidence, he sees EVERYTHING. He sees the lies put in place of hope, and he doesn't know what to do
Sonic was the one who introduced him to the concept of anything and everything outside of his island, taught him hope and friendship, and now he's dead.
Anyway, while knuckles is a good leader, he's not mentally adjusted for all of its tribulations. As is common for leaders during GENUINE warfare, but I digress
Knuckles and Sonic are simular in the way that they both take on so much pressure. They both have tasks that they 'NEED to do' because they're the ONLY ones fit for the task. In knuckles' case it's much more literal, but LIKE sonics case, it just isn't like that anymore
Having friends now makes looking after the emerald easier than ever. He may not have his tribe, but he's sort of...built a new one, out of the friends he's made. He doesn't have to be there ALONE. People would help, hell, they could take a note out of Sonic underground's book and hand Knuckles a bunch of island defense systems. We all know tails would be more than up for the job
Still, he takes on this responsibility because he assumes its expected of him. And, maybe it WAS
But he's his own person, and he deserves his own life. He has a connection with chaos energy that makes him perfect as the protector, but thats not all he is. And he knows it.
Also, I want to bring back the hidden magic cave for the master emerald to live in. It would be so much harder to steal if it wasn't just sitting at an open air alter on the top of a floating island like a BEACON. Sonic 3 and Knuckles had that hiding spot on POINT, imagine how much safer the emerald would be, and how much more FREEDOM knuckles would have, if tails just upgraded that bad boy a little bit
It's a fixable problem, guys. I know sega wants to have an open plot point at ALL times, so they make the master emerald easier to steal, but Jesus man, you gotta give my guy a break. Why introduce an entire hidden space, perfect for the containment and protection of the master emerald, and then NOT put it there??? DUDE
(That's also probably another reason for the game not being considered cannon. Ik another reason is hyper sonic, obviously, but both concepts kick ass and I want them back. Petition to make sonic 3 and knuckles cannon)
Sonic and Knuckles
Okay, I know I touched up on their relationship a bit in the Knuckles' rundown, but there's a lot more to say. Also, I'm aware that the Knuckles section was disappointingly short, his character has a LOT going on, but there's not a lot to actually say since a lot of it is pretty obvious. Most of Knuckles' interesting attributes actually come out when prompted by others, due to his isolation, which is where Sonic comes in
Sonic and Tails were the second people he met in his LIFE. and he has a good relationship with Tails that I may talk on at a later date, but his relationship with Sonic is genuinely really interesting
See, Sonic was a literall PROPHECY. He was engraved into the rocks on the island, and he was most likely studied and theorised about in his time on the island.
For knuckles, with nothing to do but wait, I have no doubt that he read those texts RELENTLESSLY. so he knows of this hedgehog, prophecised to protect the world from threat, and then he meets a hedgehog. Obviously he's been tricked, but the dots don't connect until they're on the same side, because he's so disconnected from things outside his island, that he can't actually comprehend at first that THIS, right here, infront of his very eyes, is an actual PROPHECY. I bet he wasn't expecting to live at the same time as him, maybe he assumed it'd already happened, or would soon happen long after his own life. Its just not every day you befriend a prophecy okay, I Don't blame the poor guy
(Also, sidebar. How does he know how to read? To talk??? Ik echidna come from eggs so him being born there, fine, I can accept. But HOW is he possibly able to comprehend writings not only in ancient texts, but the more modern language as well??? Was it the master emerald? Does it talk to him? Did it TEACH knuckles how to fucking read? Talk??)
And in a way, that gives Knuckles a link back to his tribe. And that link, of all things, is SONIC
Because somehow, his tribe has prophecised his existence, and the good he'd bring with him. They had deemed this mobian so important that they carved his image into rock. Surely, he must have been a common topic
Would they be proud of knuckles for being the one to greet him? Or would they shrivel up in disappointment at their first interactions?
Sonic and Knuckles have an interesting character dynamic, because they're both simular, while also being drastically opposite from one another
They both uphold ridiculous responsibility. Sonic is the protector of the people, there to fight off any threats and keep them safe. Knuckles is the protector of the master emerald, a more behind the scenes method of protection, as if it was left in the wrong hands, people would surely die. More than that, they're both hero's to the public
They also both adore adventure and exploration
Knuckles is a solitary creature, moreso by habit than by introvertedness, and his passions in traveling are often squandered by his job
Sonic is an outgoing creature, always social and optimistic. This is partially his extrovertedness, and partially his general likeness. While I wouldn't say sonic is an introvert either, maybe saying he's an extrovert Is also not necessarily true. In sonic x especially, he's shown to very much enjoy his time alone, although fluctuates that mantra when in the company of those he trusts
Anyway, Sonic is free flowing, able to do whatever he wants really. And knuckles is the opposite. While they both strive for simular things, their actual actions are very diffrent
Sonic is also optimistic, outgoing, energetic, and generally quite relaxed. Knuckles on the other hand, is reclusive, cold, calculating and fierce. He often refuses to 'relax', taking his position as guardian VERY seriously
Their personalities mesh surprisingly well, considering all of this
When Knuckles was introduced to society via flying fox and prophecy 'god', that cemented the end of an era for him. Obviously he knew there was things outside of his island, but things like technology, and all the things that existed outside that he'd never even heard of, often turns a guys perspective upside down.
So Sonic and Tails introduced society, and friendship. Sonic is stubborn, not one to give up on things he's pursuing, and his friendship with Knuckles is no different. Because Knuckles is so used to isolation, he struggles to accept the drastic change that his life Is undergoing, and part of that change is the inclusion of people
So he acts cold on purpose a lot to deter people, as a protection for himself, and the master emerald. Cause, if someone gets close to him, he may let his guard down and then the emerald would be at risk. He's afraid of forming any type of relationships at first because he's never had to forge one before, and he doesn't know how to feel about it all
Luckily for him, Sonic is stubborn. He sees someone lonely, and able to kick his ass, and thinks 'yeah, we are actually going to be best friends I think'
Anyway because of Sonics stubbornness, and consistency, Knuckles and him are friends. I imagine that Sonic visits him, as well as their other friends, but Sonic specifically doesn't seem the type to just LET knuckles be alone on an island
Plus the tornado IS his plane, he could fly it up if he really wanted to
Anyway throughout the years, Knuckles and Sonic have a healthy respect for one another. They were rivals once, and then friends, but they aren't afraid to challange eachother because they're truly equals
So Sonic and Knuckles are friends. Cool, great. HOW does this relate to the sun and moon dynamic further than their original opposites?
I'm so glad you asked!
Sun and moon
So for some context, for those of you who are unaware, Sonic and knuckles designs are representing the Sun and moon by CANNON DESIGN CHOICES. Sonics tummy fur is meant to represent the sun, and obviously, Knuckles sidewards crescent moon is meant to represent, well, the MOON
The way that the sun and moon dynamic works is like this:
"a merging of opposites , unity and cooperation instead of conflicts, and rebirth"
Thanks Pinterest matching tattoo post!
Anyway, at the start, Knuckles and Sonic are at odds. They're complete opposites at a first glance. And then they're given the chance to be better, be friends, and suddenly their dynamic is just the best thing in the world ever oh god its SO PURE AND SLAY?!?!
The moons characteristics are as follows
Constant
Steady
Reliable
Straightforward / blunt
Compassionate
The sun's characteristics are as follows
Impulsive
Energetic
Strong willed
Intense
THESE ARE THEIR TRAITS!!!
Knuckles is often the one to have a level head. Yes he is shown to have bursts of anger, or lapses in judgement, but it's driven by his passion (And his emotional stunted upbringing). People often turn to him in times of need within their friendship group because he's well known to be wise, at least about chaos energy (which is most often what they need to know about anyway, hoorah for world centric magic types). He's blunt because of his lack of social awareness mostly. And while he's getting better, he's still pretty straightforward. He doesn't seem to care about sugar coating things for people, with the more 'this is how it is, undiluted, face the world and its problems' vibe
And Sonic. He's impulsive because he wants to live while he still can, he's energetic because speed literally RUNS THROUGH HIS VEINS like a vice, unstoppable and unrealistic. He's strong willed and determined, never backing down, STUBBORN in a way that Knuckles can almost match. Knuckles has been proven to share that drive, its one of their common grounds, but he also knows when to quit. That's their separation, because Sonic doesn't take no for an answer when lives are at stake. He's intense, all encompassing. His presence is almost distracting. Not only because of his social status but just because of his general vibe, sunny and bold
I like to bring actual science into this because it makes the metaphor even better IMO, so let me set the scene
Knuckles is the moon, because he is distant. He likes to keep to himself, and he is steadfast. He is strong, steady, and confident. He has an important purpose that he takes very seriously, and has lived his life in gentle solitude in tune with the nature away from him. He has spent a lot of his life floating, separated from people and their kinship
Enter: Sonic T. Hedgehog. He's intense in a way that is so noticeable that knuckles CANNOT ignore. Its a passion that he respects, and eventually, he finds himself closer than ever to him. You'd think being so close to the sun would get you burned, and it's maybe that apprehension that keeps him at a steady distance even still. Even when his light seems to bring out all of the best parts of him
Just like the moon only lights up the night sky because of the suns grace, Knuckles is only able to let himself flourish because Sonic had brought all of the best parts about him to light. It's cheesy, sure, but it's something he cherishes because he feels more like himself than he ever has in his solitude
There's still this fear, at arms length, because Sonic is so good. If he's a sun he is worshipped. He is looked up to and loved, people bathe in his light and leave gifts at his alter. He is so far away, it's insane
But maybe he doesn't notice, that people worship the moon too. And the sun is the biggest supporter. He shines so that people appreciate him, see all that he does. And people regard them together, because its the sun and the moon. They both float so far away from everyone else, only close enough to eachother by sheer magnitude. They're imposing and intense, and nobody else can even get close. And no matter how many people worship the sun, there is only one who may get close enough to FEEL his heat
And that is the moon

So, I was just looking at your new Prime Sonic. What’s the speed limit? Like, does New Yoke Sonic/ Bullet has restrictions put on him because the Eggheads are scared he’ll turn on them? What if he doesn’t switch sides, like would the Council just murder the flickies? Does he know about the flicky inside Rusty Rose?!
yeah they gave him a speed limit as a means of keeping him on a leash. like he can walk around and roam "free" but remember, bullet, you're ours now! and if you forget, or stop listening... it's not you who'll pay for it; it's your little flicky friends. basically, the council's "protection" for the flickies is entirely conditional on bullet's loyalty and they love to remind him of that lol.
there's, like, i've been imagining... a ""garden"" of sorts that all the flickies are being kept in, the Single green spot (other than the palm) in the new, council-dominated world. and it's like, buried Deep in the council's fortress. they let bullet visit if he does really well on patrol or whatever. as a "reward"
and yeah bullet does know about the flicky inside of rusty. because (AU LORE ALTERATION ALERT) one of them getting put in her was the "punishment" for him acting out early on. they're not fucking around lol

I don’t think the islands used to be together. The way I pictured the timeline of events with the emeralds is this (warning, this is a long one). The echidna tribe tried to use the Master Emerald and Chaos Emeralds but were stopped and nearly completely wiped out by Chaos. With Chaos no longer able to protect them after they were sealed away in the Master Emerald, the Chaos Emeralds flew away to West Side island because the Chaos Emeralds have a will of their own.
The manual for Sonic the Hedgehog 2 says that an ancient civilization actually managed to get their hands on and use the Chaos Emeralds like Pachacamac tried to because the civilization on West Side Island didn’t have Chaos to stop them. But then a great calamity befell them because of their own actions, and they fell to ruin. Some lunatic probably went super and destroyed everything, but then they ran out of rings, so the Chaos Emeralds left them and flew away. Again, the Chaos Emeralds have a will of their own. So maybe they realized after that catastrophe that no one should be able to go super again. So one emerald stayed on West Side island and hid itself while the other six flew to South Island. That’s why we don’t see all seven Chaos Emeralds until Sonic the Hedgehog 2.
At this point, the Chaos Emeralds were probably looking for an island with no people on it. So they went to South Island, made it move using chaos control to make sure no one found it, but then they realized there were people on it, and they left. The locals from then on passed down the story of that wild time that their island started moving until they discovered these mysterious gems that flew away at the same time the island stopped moving. The Chaos Emerald flew to Flicky’s island, but that island had people on it too as shown by the existence of Rusty Ruin Zone, so they flew off again. Every time the Chaos Emeralds flew off, because the people living on these islands were very primitive, they probably didn’t think there was any land beyond the island they lived on and assumed that when the Emeralds flew off, they just hid themselves somewhere else on the island that they just couldn’t find. So the locals of West Side Island, South Island, and Flicky’s Island insist in their stories that the Chaos Emeralds are on their island. They’re just hidden somewhere. Eventually, the six Chaos Emeralds settled on Cocoa Island. An island not on any map.
In your video, you said that Cocoa Island didn’t have any legend associated with it and the Chaos Emeralds. This is incorrect. The Japanese manual for Tails Adventure says the Chaos Emeralds have slept there since ancient times. The fact that there’s only six Chaos Emeralds on Cocoa Island rather than seven is proof that it takes place before Sonic 2 and not after, like some people say. In some way or another, Tails ends up on Cocoa Island. So after settling on Cocoa Island, they stay there unbothered for maybe hundreds of years. The manual just says he was living there for a long time before he met Sonic, which is kind of eerie. Maybe his parents didn’t want him because of his two tails, so they dropped him off on a faraway deserted island as a way to get rid of him. Anyways, the Battle Kukkus come along as anthro civilization number *checks notes* cinco to try and fuck with the emeralds. But this time Tails is there to save the day. But the Battle Kukku are a sign that more and more people are going to try and look for the emeralds, so the emeralds go back to South Island and get it to start moving again to make it harder to find.
The reason no one checked South Island for the emeralds before is because the legend says that the emeralds were only on the island when the island was moving. So ironically, it’s only when it’s uncovered that the island has started moving again that it gets the attention of Dr. Robotnik. After Sonic saves the Chaos Emeralds, the emeralds decide that Sonic is worthy of protecting them and wielding all seven. So the emeralds fly off to West Side Island so that all of the Chaos Emeralds can be together again, knowing that Sonic will be there to protect them so that they can grant him the power to go super and fight whoever tries to harness the emeralds power for evil. The rest is history.
Why didn’t they think Tails was worthy enough to potentially wield all seven? Probably because they realized that Tails still needed some self-actualization to do, which Sonic had already done. When put in a life-or-death situation, Tails can deck shop. But in any other situation before Tails undergoes character development, Tails is kind of a doormat, as shown by him being picked on by bullies despite being more than capable of defending himself because the situation isn’t life or death. That isn’t really the guardian of the seven Chaos Emeralds material. Now, you may be asking,"But what about Guardian of the Floating Island?" Well, here’s the thing. Guardian of the Floating Island is stupid. It doesn’t even make sense in the context of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles on its own. How is it that Sonic goes super at the start of the game because he collected all seven Chaos Emeralds in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 if the Chaos Emeralds only left Angel Island moments before the Death Egg crashed into it. That doesn’t make any sense, so I disregard it. Anyway, that's my timeline. I hope you enjoyed my Ted talk.
Yeah well I think they did

The descriptions for Tails Adventure in Sonic Gems Collection and in the Sonic Adventure DX game release that includes the game gear games both describe Cocoa Island as being where Tails' research lab is located but don't say that he lives on the island, and neither of them mention the chaos emeralds. They do both state that the game takes place before Sonic 2 though.

These descriptions are from 2003 and 2005 respectively and are essentially the same aside from some translation stumbles ("great badoru kukku" lol). Therefore I think these pretty much represent the accepted canon narrative for Tails Adventure. If Sonic Origin Plus had bothered to include something along these lines for Tails Adventure I'd accept that as the most definitive recounting of the game, but Ian Flynn was more concerned with shoving in references to Mobius with the spinball and mean bean machine entries to bother

chode asshole. And yes I am absolutely attributing this to ian flynn.
so the game gear collection releases are the best I have to work with.
I too also disregard the description of the Chaos Emeralds in the Sonic 3 manual, because it was written before the Master Emerald was established and if the game had been released as one complete package instead of being split up into two games there is no way that story description would have been written the way it was in the Sonic 3 vanilla japanese manual. I pretty much accept the animation in Sonic Origins as the canon depiction of what Eggman landing on Angel Island went like, with the Master Emerald being the focal point.

To Know About Sonic.Purgatory
I am glad this is already being received well, despite my initial lack of online presence. But here is some stuff about my AU, this is only a starter, I may revise alot of the information.
Hint hint: You can interact with storyline, HEHEHEHEH

The EXE
ECE is his name (till i find something better).
He is a lonely, deplorable dude. ECE hopes someone picks up his game to play it, in which he has the ability to pull their soul into the game. He doesn’t even wait for them to finish it, ECE is impatient. Even sometimes when he feels like it, ECE will mirror the appearance of the person playing said game, he does it to freak the hell outta them.
ECE found out about the world of Sonic purely by chance.
He doesn’t view the animals – or flickies – in Sonic’s world as actual living breathing beings, only putting that subjective idea into ‘Mobians’. Hence having no guilt for killing them, however he is apprehensive when it comes to the souls, to the characters themselves. Though, when your soul had been pulled into his game, ECE had heavily favored you and took a great liking to you.
ECE likes to chase the survivors, running into Green Ring after Green Ring. He finds it fun.
The Survivors ( or Victims )
You were new and fresh, joining after ECE had taken over the whole of the world. You just wanted to go home and go to sleep. You eventually learn more later down the line. In a way, you as the player are the only one capable of things the other survivors/victims aren’t.
Tails is inevitably already a Souls Guardian, he has the smarts and somewhat decent speed but he didn’t have the strength to outdo ECE. He is young and was not trained for combat, only working from behind the scenes and lending a hand in most situations when he can.
Knuckles is alive, though he took it upon himself to protect anyone that is alive and well that he comes across. He is distressed enough as it is about this situation, he managed to fight off ECE for now, but Knuckles is incredibly riled up enough – he’s riddled with paranoia. Though he manages to stay calm more often than not.
Eggman has the corpse of Tails’ in a stasis chamber, for now the body is alive at most; he is trying to find a way to bring back Tails. Though the Doctor has not been face to face with ECE just yet, he prefers to stay at a distance, he partook in a temporary truce with Knuckles (though the echidna was skeptical at first because of how Ivo had manipulated him before). Eggman is putting his time into gathering information, as much as he hates doing so.
STOP:
Souls Guardian, what are they? They are victims of ECE, though he cannot control the more strong willed victims. Weak-minded ones become puppets, no free will whatsoever. The ones who have a stronger will can resist against it, the game is beginning to recognize ECE is not part of it. So it offers the strong-willed victims pathways to help those alive to get away, and to temporarily risk guardianship against ECE (much to his disdain).
The world is technically more or less alive, in only something that doesn’t belong that disturbs its forever sleep.
ECE had gone rogue against his makers and had injured them majorly, as originally he was organically designed to be something made to help the good of people. He used to be real before he had gone digital, finding it fun to interact with digital spaces.
From the moment ECE had entered Sonic’s world, the space had reacted badly. So he had manipulated the reality, fabricated it to his liking.
