a cute monason idea i pulled from the trenches of my brain bc why not?

Moni was in her room, stroking her cat Midnight, who purred contently. She was drawing and was feeling very at peace with life.

Then the doorbell rang.

Moni scratched Midnight’s head. “Wait here, little guy, I’ll be right back.”

She left her room and walked over to the door.

“Mason!”

She hugged him tightly and he smiled.

“Hey, Mon! I was in the area and thought I’d say hi.”

Moni smiled. “Well, hi. Oh, I have someone who wants to meet you. Come in!”

Mason walked in and took a seat. Moni ran upstairs and gently picked up Midnight.

“Come on, you have someone to meet,” she said softly. Midnight complied, for a little.

“Ugh, you silly cat!”

Moni picked him up again and took him downstairs.

“Hey, are you allergic to fur,” she called as she walked.

“Uh, no,” Mason answered, “Why?”

Moni walked back into the room, carrying Midnight like a proud mother.

“We have a cat! I named him Midnight. Noel and I found him in an alley and we nursed him back to health.”

She placed the black cat down and he arched his back, finally free from Moni’s smothering.

“Oh, wow, he looks like you if you were a cat,” Mason said. Moni laughed.

“And what is that supposed to mean?”

Mason shrugged and went to pet Midnight, who let him eagerly.

“He’s just like you. He’s a fighter, and he was saved by someone who truly loved him.”

He looked up and smiled. “Just like you.”

Moni sat down and smiled. Midnight curled up on the floor and she stroked his fur slowly.

“I guess you’re right. You’re always right.”

She turned to him and he shrugged.

“It’s a curse, Monini.”

He kissed her head and pulled her in a hug. His head rested on hers and Moni picked up Midnight.

“You are a lucky cat, Midnight,” she said, “You have a mother and a dad, and an older brother.”

Mason laughed. “Who’s Midnight’s dad, Moni?”

Moni looked up at him cheekily. “You, silly. Midnight is my baby, and you’re his dad.”

Midnight meowed approvingly, and they both laughed.

“Final decision, you’re either in or out, Lovett.”

“Fine! I’ll take on the duty of being this needy cat’s father, okay?”

They laughed again and Midnight rested his head on Moni’s arm. That little cat was lucky, all right.

I think we need to start putting up some of those classroom kindness posters in the nonhuman community or something. Can we all just calm the fuck down please and stop acting like territorial animals butting horns. Someone experiencing nonhumanity in a way that is different to you doesn't mean they're faking it. If this person's identity and self expression isn't causing any harm then it's not an issue! you can't justify cyberbullying someone just because "they made me mad".

It's really not that deep. Someone getting their theriotype wrong? not a big deal. Someone accidentally makes a mistake with their terminology? not a valid reason to harass them. Someone has a common theriotype? doesn't mean they're faking. This person identifies as physically nonhuman? also not a valid reason to harass them.

This community has so many fascinating critters and beings, there are so many wonderful acquaintances and conversations to be found. So please let's all calm down and read some posters.
