GROUND. every time.#& yeah theres some comedy to it but you cant Ever forget that ai di wants chen yi to want him. needs it. he's faking sleep in the 1st scene #and once chen yi realizes what he wants he puts everything he has into keeping it - inadvertently taking ai di's advice by doing so -#& expresses it in every kind of way too. whatever it takes. bc between the two of them its not just 'bring him back' it's 'bring him HOME'#in a way thats based on the constantly being witness to the worst of each other & choosing it AND. years and layers of trust & love.#..ok only I would take a gifset of chen yi picking ai di up & make it abt how their relationship is perfectly balanced. but im right so idc #the last one ties it all together in my onion. chen yi got him home. and ai di's deliberately allowing himself to be loved. they won

(note: original image is from HERE (link) - but I edited it to add a wider variety of options.. also added $3 extra to the total, even though I know that makes it more uneven lol, I thought if you're adding 10 whole extra items, the money to spend should at least be increased slightly, if that makes sense..)

#I would get orange juice. black coffee. AND iced coffee ($3) because I love the variety of having multiple drinks #then sausage and scrambled eggs ($8). Then sauteed mushrooms ($3)....AND... hrm.. then spending the remaining $4 would be hard #I wish I could get waffles (as they are my favorite and are superior in every way compared to pancakes. donuts. etc.) but I'm not willing #to give up the other savory things just to get them. so... then maybe I could get a biscuit or english muffin? and just put jam or #honey butter or something on it so it can be my replacement 'sweet and bready' thing instead of something from the $5 row??#OR I could also just assume that having the orange juice plus iced coffee would provide enough of a 'sweet element' to the meal #(since I largely prefer savory foods. I only like a tiny bit of sweet added for variety) and thus forego any sort of #'bready' thing entirely and just get the bowl of beans/onion/tomato (I'd leave the avocado since I don't like the #texture of them really lol). THEN I'd have $1 left to get the milk or the black tea... increasing my total of random drinks..#which is always the goal of course.. as a chronic ''person who is sipping at 5 different drinks at their desk simultaneously always'' perso #OR... I could just do.. waffle. scrambled eggs. sausage. mushrooms. and black coffee and orange juice.. which is... okay variety #augh... so difficult.. As my Ideal Breakfast is like a buffet type thing or something where you have like 25 different things to choose fro #and can get a little tiny bit of everything. My eating style is very much like.. I'd rather pick at a small amount of a ton of #different things than just have a very large amount of only one or two things. Thats why I LOVE sample platter type stuff.#So it's like... augh... the ideal option would be a tiny portion of EVERYTHING actually lol...#Difficult to choose...#ANYWAY.. Also no idea why I added croissant instead of bagel. I only thought about that afterwards. I do actually like bagels.#I've only ever even had a croissant like 2 times in my entire life. Yet I've had many bagels. For some reason it stuck out in my mind more #when I was considering 'essential breakfast foods' somehow... how could I forget them... bagels my beloved...#Blame it on the hot weather... 'What in the blazes? The sun hath obliterated the concept of bagels from my miind!'#(< meant to be said in a silly overdramatic elderly wizard accent or something)#Also I don't think ''bowl of beans. onion. avocado. and tomatos.'' is necessarily a breakfast classic or something gbhjjh #but I was just trying to think of a versatile vegetable-ish side that could be full of common breakfast additions #so people could do stuff like ''oh I get the toast option and then the bowl of stuff and I put the avocado on the toast'' etc.#Like a mix and match. You could mix ingredients from different parts. You could put scrambled eggs and bacon and onion #on the bread or soemthing. etc. I just feel like something is always missing if a Full Breakfast Spread #doesnt have some sort of onions or beans or mushrooms or asparagus or spinach like... some sort of thing that isn't just eggs and meat and #bread.. you know? lol..#But then again.. I am the Sampling Plate Style Variety Lover and Tiny Portion Of Food Picker so maybe thats just a me thing.

When I was a kid, my dad used to cut out newspaper articles of topics he thought pertained to my interests (neuroscience and China mostly) and then he would mail them to me with no note. Every once in a while I would receive an envelope with an assortment of newspaper clippings from the five newspapers he reads a day.

And as I sit here sending star trek memes and mourning dove pics to friend 1, and knitting memes and terrible puns to friend 2, and sexy radishes to friend 3, never with any explanation or even an expectation of acknowledgement of receipt, I have to reckon with some hard truths about the person I have grown into and how it relates to my parenting.

#i will text my dad if I've seen a cool bird #thats about it #eventually he started scanning the newspaper clips and emailing them to me as attachments #often again with an empty email #my beloved friends send me posts about onions #and hades or DA posts that i have already seen a dozen times 💕

gwen and miles are some of the most joyfully trans-coded young characters i've ever seen, especially miles' journey towards autonomy ("doing things his own way") in the second film, and the thought of their t4t joy and solidarity brings me so much happiness. i'm not just saying that in a shipping context - trans friendship is so important to me & we need to protect and cherish it, and we need it to protect each other. i hope this piece makes you happy too!! 💖💖💖

I know I can't be the first person to say this but the integration of the face masks at the beginning, when all the characters are meeting and you see the scientist and the detective wearing sturdy masks which are secure, the rich white antisemitic woman who is wearing a net for a mask, the governor who is wearing a mask but allows it to fall (rendering it therefore useless), and the Joe Rogan stand in + the stereotypical armpiece gf not wearing masks at all

is such a good way to read into these characters personalities

ive been thinking about this but. i think shuro understands laios' character pretty well, but he doesn't value his strengths or interests (monster knowledge). in the DVD extra where laios imagines what would have happened if they'd been on better terms, shuro STILL leaves because he thinks his chances are better with a trained crew (which....... is likely to be true but. look at how he ended up anyway lmao). meanwhile kabru recognises that while the party isnt particularly strong, the reason they get so far in the first place is BECAUSE of what laios knows about monsters. shuro seems aware that laios knows about monsters or has an interest in them, but views this as frivolous and a waste of time and doesn't seem to realise how much this knowledge carried them in the first place

#his prevailing impression of laios appears to be that hes too carefree 💀#i think thats more the case of whatever he observes laios' priorities to be #he thinks its unimportant....#anyway thats just my onion. ive seen people say that shuro doesnt Get laios #and i dont think thats true. i just think he dismisses some of it 💀#its his understanding of his character that. spoiler alert i just realised.#makes him back laios up to the point of defying the elves #this is just what i think is possible. because i realise also #that kabru makes this theory once hes actually talked to laios abt monsters iirc #and like. i dont think laios was as openly fanatical about monsters until after falin got killed LMAO #its entirely possible that actually shuro DIDNT observe this (knowledgeable) about laios #or at least didnt recognise the extent of the knowledge pulling them thru..#but again also. i realise shuro wasnt actually wrong for thinking his chances were better #with his retainers LMAO... senshi made a huge difference in their party and theres no way #shuro could have known hed appear. without senshi they very may have well #not made it that far......#this is all to say that i want a scenario where shuro thinks about this and realises #how integral to their survival laios' knowledge has been so far #and how his knowledge has come about as a result of study and hard work and dedication #<- secret laishuro agenda LMAO

i think ppl criticizing saltburn for being a bad addition to this weird influx of self-aware class conscious movies we’ve seen in these last couple of years are so funny because that is literally not at all what this movie is going for.

its so easy to conflate aestheticism with classism, especially when saltburn plays with this kind of gauche idea of beauty, but the problem isn’t that the catton’s have an unnatural relationship with wealth and material, it’s that they have an unnatural relationship with beauty and a seemingly never ending supply of it. and of course these things go hand in hand. in a house where desire is unheard of, to be of want is a messy ordeal that’s shunned and repressed.

but this movie is never asking what you would do for material gain. it’s about obsession with a relationship and a person that is close enough to touch but still off limits. how do you tell somebody that has never wanted in their life that you want them? how badly do you want them? would you do something ugly for them? would you kill for them?
