But I'm not sure that I like that a campaign meant to be about Bell's Hells ends with them.

a quick illustration of something that popped into my head. Every time I read/remember about Turtle’s exile from his band of brothers after failing to find Snapper I feel like crying/murdering his brothers. Who does that to a kid who was just doing his best? Anyways, this is his hatchmate sister (who died halfway through incubation) and the other two that were supposedly his fault. I think their spirits would comfort him during his lowest point, before he eventually enchants his forgiveness back.

mmm not to be a solasmancer on main but im thinking about those few days after the Cole debacle if a solavellan Inquisitor encourages him to remain a spirit. just. Solas, watching her fret so much in the aftermath, terrified that she may have taken someone's choice away, worried that she influenced what Cole wanted somehow, watching her sheer relief and unbridled joy after Cole's, free and light and brimming with happy incredulity, "but you didn’t change, didn’t make me change. Thank you". He watches her, and thinks of Mythal. Thinks of devotion, and abuse. Regret. Thinks of Cole, and spirits and Wisdom and Pride- Thinks, wistfully, achingly, "in her hands, I might have been safe".

When Rick said that we were going to have a Sally x Poseidon flashback, my mind thought about a nice day on the beach when they were getting to know each other. But no, oh no, that would have been too nice for Rick “I destroy lives” Riordan.

Instead, we got this heartbreaking moment of Sally desperately calling on Poseidon, because she is lost, she thinks she is doing everything wrong and that the only option is taking Percy to a place she doesn’t want him to go. And Poseidon shows up like 0.5 seconds after that calling, because ruling the sea can wait if Sally is crying, and he lets her talk and take out her frustration on him; because deep down he knows that is his fault. It is in his world that Percy is in danger, it is because he is his son that he will not have an easy life. Then Poseidon looks at this small child after Sally ask him if he want to talk to him, but he knows he can’t, no matter how much he wants too; because if Percy is already attracting monsters the presence of a god will only make it worse.

In that scene, they are just two parents trying to decide the best outcome for their kid in an incredibly unfair situation.

it hasn't been long since rin rejected you. actually, it's been precisely two hours, twenty five minutes and... thirteen, fourteen, fifteen seconds. yes, he's been counting.

a silent sigh leaves his lips as his arm falls limp against his bed. he's checked his watch too many times, and now it feels like time is running slow. usually he wouldn't mind but... with you being his last prominent memory, he doesn't enjoy the bitter taste in his mouth. thirty-one, thirty-two, thirty-three seconds... and...

he finally breaks his gaze away from the ceiling, sitting up with his head hung.

maybe it was a mistake.

no, isn't it weird to say he started liking you after he saw you cry? the tears brimming in your eyes, the obvious cracks in your voice, and the smile you tried to put on... all because of him. he should be guilty, if anything, yet there's an overriding sensation in his heart. one that he shouldn't be experiencing.

it's not a big deal. his feelings will fade soon enough.

can you even imagine what a fucking horror show the early game is from spite's perspective, though. not only is this funky forcibly severed little slip of the fade having to deal with the reverse cosmic horror of physical reality as perceived by a spirit and being trapped in it against its will -- existentially confused and disoriented and hurting and nothing makes any kind of sense, at the mercy of human cruelty at its most deliberately sadistic. and then the one source of comfort and compassion and some kind of safety and clarity that lucanis surely must have been to him in the ossuary despite everything just goes and shuts himself in his room inside with a seemingly passive aggressive number of locks between them and no explanation and won't speak to him and they're STILL in the fucking ossuary. rook came and found them and they could be free now (rook is here!) and still lucanis keeps them in the ossuary even though he PROMISED he promised they'd get out of there together!!! what the fuck DO you think at that point? like did he trick me that whole time??? he wasn't like zara before, so why is he doing this to me now? why isn't he saying anything? 'he won't move. I can't reach him'. at least in the ossuary they had a deal, a goal, a hope -- each other. at least he wasn't entirely alone, before.

this poor poor poor little spite spirit really was ferried into the real world like 'hey welcome to reality! as your first introduction to it you're first getting horrifically tortured and then getting to vicariously experience one of THE most distressing and harrowing psychological conditions the human brain can cook up for itself (a fully fledged and deeply entrenched freeze response flaring up with catastrophic severity due to an unbroken ongoing and unlikely to let up any time soon chain of Unfortunately... Recent Events). I think spite is being extremely reasonable and patient about the whole thing, when you put it into perspective. I'm not saying let him eat the self-lighting candles or anything, but he's got some extremely valid points along the way lol. spite is not only child-like, the metaphor work going on is a lot more pleasingly flexible and complex than that, but he is also helplessly existentially dependent on lucanis in a way that, if anything, is a heightened version of the way a child (or child part) has to depend on a parent to navigate the world and survive.

tl;dr: we truly don't give enough sympathy to spite for having to live in the head of lucanis dellamorte. a place even lucanis dellamorte would prefer not to be. to be fair to him I think lucanis would be the first person to agree with this lol
