Thank you sincerely Blackadder Sir. Especially because that is the version you have to inevitably suffer through (very much against your will) when you are studying Hamlet

Y'know we learned awhile ago that some systems just have a headspace. They don't have to conjure it like a spell, no constant mental effort and the equivalent of invoking an ancient hex with a summoning circle.

okay this is rough and jumbled.
SnakeHolder!Chloe headcanons:
Sass is shown to be calm and charming, qualities that make the Kwamis look up to him and consider him as a leader figure. Chloe's tendencies to be easily driven by poor writing by her emotions, especially her self loathing and insecurities can be redeemed with continuous support, calm but firm guidance by Sass. He's also described as mature and responsible which dissuades Chloe's attempts at anything that could get her in trouble or revert her to her old ways.
Sass had doubts at first but after a near death experience where Chloe didn't seem to be fazed or had mind, he was intrigued. And maybe a bit worried.
Surprisingly, Chloe denies him at first saying that Ladybug was right and she shouldn't be trusted with another miraculous. This goes on and on until she finally bursts and all the pent up trauma comes out. Part time Kwami, full time Therapist.
Their relationship is rocky at first but they eventually became civil after they transformed (against Chloe's will) to fight off a powered up akuma. The others weren't aware as Chloe insisted they work incognito.
Chloe slowly redeems herself after acting quick and planning fast everytime she uses Second Chance. It's hard to keep up while making sure she doesn't get seen by the other heroes. It's hard at first but what does she have to lose anyway?
Her new hero persona eventually bleeds into her personal life. She's still sassy (lol), mean, and doesn't take anyone's shit but she's more aware now. Going back in time to fix things alters your brain chemistry.
Awareness is the first step to redemption. After numerous breakdowns and nights of self loathing and pity, she eventually acknowledges everything she's done wrong and sees everything in a new perspective and just freaks out.
Cue Protective Sass!
The process is slow and subtle and people don't notice it at first. Chloe thinks first now. She's able to hold in usual insults that would freely come out of her and reconsider her reaction (unless it's sudden, spooked her, etc.)
Next to awareness and acknowledgement is guilt. After realizing everything she's done, she tries everything she can do at that moment to change even some things. Apologies aren't easy for her because she's never even heard that directed to her. In sincerity and not fear. So, whenever she doesn't have to help Ladybug and Chat Noir, she practices with Sass.
"I..," a shaky breath, "I'm sorry."
She practices the phrase before and after the day.
She's hella confused. She's grateful Sass is there to assure her everytime. She stumbles through her words but she manages to get out a sincere apology to the closest person she has: Sabrina.
They talk about it and their friendship shifts. It's not perfect, but it's better than before.
She hasn't formally apologized to the others yet but she's trying.
With help from both Sabrina and Sass, she starts to apologize (but now with more confidence) to people she's hurt. Rose is open to the idea of mending bonds, the others are wary but doesn't say anything else.
The last two she apologizes to is Adrien and Marinette. Adrien is wary but his kindness overweights his doubts. They're not back to what was before and frankly Chloe is glad. She doesn't want what's in the past, she wants to create something now and for the future.
Marinette was the last.
"You shouldn't forgive me right away," she interrupts the shorter girl, "I know you're kind and such a goody two shoes but that doesn't mean you should forgive me after a week or so." She levels a determined look to shocked blue eyes, "Let me prove myself first." And softer, "please."
Well that's all I have so far. I just find it befitting for two major reasons: Sass's ability can actually help Chloe see things in more than one perspective which would help her deal and open up with all her trauma and toxic habits. The ability allows her to be more observant on where she needs to go back to fix the mistake. It takes quick thinking and concentration of the user. It requires an open mind on alternatives. And secondly, 'Second Chance' is fitting for what she needs. Not a half baked Arc where she doesn't know what she wants and needs. But something firm and continuous to keep her going. A real second chance.
That's just me and my rambling. Feel free to add or correct me about anything! (Don't be rude about it though).

I know this has been talked about a lot but just been thinking about how Something Blue is like a fanfic writer going “haha what if I shipped this wouldn’t it be wild jk” and then it spiralling wildly out of control. It is a crack ship eventually treated seriously and I find that hilarious.
And also just, how does the Will Be Done spell even work. The parameters. I’ve been thinking about it, and Willow only said “why doesn’t she just go marry him” (or something to that effect) not “why don’t they fall hopelessly in love with each other and get married.” They could’ve easily had it where they both maintained their enemy dynamic and been very confused and angry the entire way to getting a marriage certificate, and I think it’s that the concept of marriage and the action of it have to align with the person’s internal logic in some way. Buffy does not believe she will get married, she is the Slayer, she can fantasize but she will most likely die young. So marriage in her head is a Big Fantasy Thing that should only be done if you are Truly In Love and it must require all the wedding planning and the beautiful white dress and all the bells and whistles because the improbability of it happening just fuels the abstract fantasy. She comes across as So Happy and it’s the happiest she’s ever been because on some level she cannot imagine herself being that happy and she cannot imagine a wedding without being that happy, so it’s designated into this little Buffy Fantasy Box Scenario.
And Spike has loved Dru for a hundred years and never needed a wedding or marriage because that is a Human Concept that he probably also fantasized about as a human but hasn’t really thought of since (and has probably had to abandon). Their love doesn’t need a silly paper, they are having a wedding everyday, they celebrate their love everyday, it’s about the constant displays of devotion. So in this made up marriage scenario, Spike can only imagine himself as initiating a proposal if he is In Love and Devoted (and probably secretly wishes he and Dru did have some kind of wedding but would never admit that. Thinking about Angelus telling him: “you can take what you want, have what you want, but nothing is yours. Not even her [dru].”)
Basically, Spike and Buffy as they are would only consider marriage if they are truly in love with someone and they both have a little tentatively abstract Wedding Fantasy that lives rent free in their brains that they would never admit exists there in the first place. And it’s why both of them act like a CoupleTM and do all the Wedding Planning ThingsTM because that’s what a wedding should be, right?
They shouldn’t be a Thing [couple/in love] and yet they are meeting each other halfway in indulging this Thing [wedding/marriage/”normal” life] that can never be.

Some whining about fan responses to GO2 below the cut. I'm just being a jerk mostly lol.
Not gonna tag or link the posts because I'm not trying to stir shit but I see some people doing the thing for Good Omens season 2 that people did for Sherlock or Supernatural where, they didn't really like some aspects of season 2, and instead of saying "oh, that part didn't really gel with me" they think "Oh, it's actually all part of a long con that Neil Gaiman is playing on us! The stuff that I thought was bad? It was bad on purpose!" (Remember, the secret final episode of Sherlock, or the fact that the penultimate Supernatural episode was "bad on purpose" so the finale would fix it all?)
And it's so frustrating because I think these people are setting themselves up for further disappointment when season three comes. I personally loved season two of good omens! It really hit the spot for me, I thought it was funny and charming and clever and perfectly heartbreaking. If you didn't like it, that's okay, you don't have to construct a whole conspiracy theory around "why it was bad".
I want to be clear i don't mean just having theories about potential mysteries/clues leading to season 3. What are the Metatron's real motivations? Will we get to know who Crowley was as an angel before the fall? That sort of stuff is fun to speculate about, and we certainly don't have all the answers!
What I'm talking about things like... I saw someone say that the Eccles Cakes were a secret clue: why bring them up and put such emphasis on them only for them not to get eaten, hmmm? That couldn't have been just a simple oversight... it must be a grander point about the secret undercurrent plot that's been hiding right in front of our eyes this whole time.
And... no, it's not a simple oversight. It's not a grand clue to a big mystery (imo) either. It's pretty basic storytelling. Aziraphale asks Nina for something that calms people down, he procures the Eccles cakes on her recommendation, and then hands them off to Crowley as they enter the shop. There's a pointed shot of the uneaten cookies as Crowley storms off because, guess what, nobody ate them, and nobody's calming down! I think that's it, y'all. No grand mystery to parse here.
Or one thing I saw that really had me scratching my head was "why did we spend so long in the '40s minisode seeing Aziraphale pick out magic tricks in the shop, do the whole fake-out with the bullets, etc.? What was the point of showing us all that?"
I mean... because it was funny and charming and good character development? I don't know that it was leading to any grand secret behind the scenes. The setup and the pay-off is all right there in the 1940's flashbacks. Aziraphale is bad at stage magic, and then real miracles are blocked, and in the moment of truth he's able to use trickery correctly, for once in his life. Crowley and Aziraphale both manage to keep each other safe in the human way, even when their miracles are blocked. It's all right there, it doesn't have to be a clue leading to some big switcharoo later down the road.
Or one last thing I saw was people saying "where were the Zombies? Why have a plot about digging up corpses, and another story about Zombies, what does it all mean?"
And like... I don't know, maybe it means some Secret Extra Thing that i just haven't seen yet, but isn't it also possible that it means... thematic foreshadowing of season three's external plot? You've got Job's children being "reborn", you've got corpses being dug up, you've got zombies roaming London. The third season is about the Second Coming, y'all. I don't want to say "it's not that deep" because it is that deep, it's not just... extra made up layers of obfuscation that give it unnecessary confusing deepness. If that makes sense.
Bottom line, if this season didn't gel with you, I'm sorry! But I promise you, you're setting yourself up for disappointment if you spend the next couple years divining all the secret codes Gaiman put into the work for you. He didn't write a "bad on purpose" season of television. He wrote a good season of television! I'm sure there are mysteries to unravel, and fun clues to go back and find later on when we see how it all ends up. But he didn't write an entire season of TV to be a big giant misdirect in and of itself. I really don't think that's how this works.
End of soap box.

Hello! I am currently working on a modern au and I thought you might want to hear about it!
Not sure if all end up writing it but here are the basics
Whitestone is a city in Canada and the main setting. The setting has low magic.
Percy's family is really rich but not Noble.
The briarwoods were a church pastor couple at the church the de rollos went to that befriended them and then murdered them after forging their will to put everything in their names.
They scared Cassandra into silence so she wouldn't snitch to the cops.
After the briarwoods are defeated through a legal battle Vox machina moves in to a seven bedroom penthouse that was meant for Julius after he got married. Cassandra lives in the old family home.
Percy works as a airport mechanic
Vex is a park ranger at the suntree National Forest
Trinket is a Newfoundland dog
Pike is a med student
Vax is a locksmith
Grog is a construction worker
Keyleth works in the botany collections at the local museum
scanlan has an onlyfans
Cassandra is a law student and works at Barnes & Noble part-time for experience
Gilmore is the owner of a department store and met vax when he accidentally locked himself out of the department store and had to call a locksmith.
Ships are Percy/vex, scanlan/Pike, and Gilmore/vax and maybe Gilmore/vax/keyleth
oh hello!!! i love that this has started a string of headcanons being thrown at me, this is wonderful actually. if anyone else wants to do so, please feel free!!! i love hearing about ideas :)
ANYWAY ANYWAY i LOVE the concept of the briarwoods as these like. well i'm reading it as they are the couple that acts so pious and so neighborly (for context: i grew up going to a southern christian church) when they're actually The Worst, and using that cover to get away with doing Shady Shit. people usually make them just corrupt businessmen which also works, but there are other corrupt systems for them to manipulate - and this kinda parallels how they basically started a cult in canon fjnkrjgnkr
vax as a locksmith is snagging my attention tbh!! that's super cool!!! it also has the potential for an Angsty Setup, or even just an intriguing setup, with vax dancing around the law and somehow making a job out of it. or even using the job as a cover. but that's me spitballing lol
vex as a park ranger is also so !!! i'm just picturing her out in the woods with all these leaves in her hair, looking just a LITTLE bit wild but very happy about it. park rangers (in the US at least, and based off of quick google searches) don't tend to have the best salaries, so it wouldn't work in a lot of modern AUs (vex is Very aware of finances and wants to keep everyone afloat and fed, wants to keep the lights on, so i can't see her taking a self-indulgent job over higher-paying opportunities), but if they have this inheritance in this AU, then i could definitely see her taking a job as a ranger.
VAX AND GIL AS THE "OOPS I LOCKED MYSELF OUT OF MY SHOP" IS SO CUTE!! and it's made even better by the fact that you know, despite gilmore having actively locked himself out, vax would be the more awkward of the two. he's a mess <3 ALSO ALSO i will Politely encourage you towards vax/gil/kiki, simply because i think vax deserves a boyfriend AND a girlfriend to hold his hands <3
this au gives me very comfy and wholesome vibes (once the briarwoods are yeeted from the picture) <33 thank you for sharing it with me!!

Hi Quil! I was having thoughts on media in worldbuilding, specifically on audio vs visual media (sorry if that's randomly specific). A lot of media in our world is mostly visual, like books and a majority of the internet. I was exploring how a fantasy world could have more audio-based media, like recordings and instruments. I was also thinking about theater and what plays might be like in fantasy worlds. Do you have thoughts about either of these? What do you like in worldbuilding? - Amethyst
Hello, Amethyst!! The first thought I had when you said audio media was podcasts and audiobooks. Telling stories either with audio in mind and having environmental story-telling sounds (like footsteps, echoes, crashes) as part of the media, or adapting something non-audio into an audio-format.
You could probably also find inspiration in technology pre modern tech--like how radio was so popular and people would have a big radio in their living room and it'd be a family entertainment sort of thing. You all crowd around and listen to the radio together. Or you could go more for CDs and record players, things like that. It seems like there's a lot more potential for communal enjoyment of media; instead of listening to music directly into your ears, you put it on in a common room and everyone enjoys it and it's a bonding opportunity.
As for plays, my first thought is that plays would be rather similar to they are in our world. Perhaps they'd have access to different kinds of props or means of telling a story--like magical abilities for special effects, different species as different characters and actors or something--but the core of a play is pretty universal. It's telling a story. So at the core they'd be the same, what would change is perhaps the execution or culture around it. maybe it's a demeaning job, maybe actors are revered. Maybe stories focus on a specific moral unique to the fantasy world, like enforcement of a certain power structure in the world. Or maybe plays are a space of open criticism that stick it to the system.
So essentially, I think what plays are like in a fantasy world depends on the fantasy world! The core of a play is universal, so outside of that I can't say.
As for what I like in worldbuilding, I think the best way to describe it is thoroughness? I don't have a preference for any specific part, but I think when it's done well and the author has put in the time for all the small questions and logistics. It feels so much more complete and immersive when I'm not constantly excusing and ignoring the gaps in a world. I don't expect every author to be thorough, I understand there's preference and priorities in different stories, but it's always so satisfying to see something well-planned and in-depth :)
