Collide (Reader x Lee Rang)

Summary: Lee Rang finds himself outside your work place whilst confronting Yeon. When you see him, you decide to sneak up on him & surprise him. Unaware his brother Yeon is present as well. Acting all lovely, which comes to a surprise to him as it has always been a low profile.

His gaze was fixated on his screen. A tiny smile hiding in the corner of his lips. His eyes going over the same text numerous times. Your name clear at the top. Finding himself go back to it just to relive the moment when he first received it. Unintentionally wanting to bottle the feeling. A simple but a typical text from you that made him smile. Smile at how silly you could sometimes be. Finding you funny even when you weren’t trying. Some cherry blossoms twirled down before his hands. Making him blow at it before it could land on his hand or phone.

Becoming aware of a presence, made him slowly turn his head. Smile faltering with annoyance. – “Aish.” – he said tugging his phone away. In the empty lane stood his older brother. Lee Yeon. – “Rang.” – he called out. Rang scratched the back of his head vigorously, getting up from the bench he had been sitting on. – “What do you want.” – he replied, turning his posture away from him. Walking off in the other direction.

Tugging a hand in his pocket. – “Rang!” – Yeon repeated calling out louder to him. He sighed, looking bothered away when he his younger brother wasn’t listening. Still walking off. Yeon clicked his tongue annoyed before going after him. Keeping a firm pace but almost catching up with him. – “Lang-ah, we need to talk.” – Yeon spoke walking just a few paces behind his brother. – “Then talk.” – Rang replied not slowing down.

Yeon rolled his eyes that his brother wasn’t taking the time to stop and listen. – “I’m sure you have something to scold at me for again.” – Rang filled the brief silence with a follow-up. Leaving the park, taking a mindless turn. Greenery changing for buildings and roads. – “Ya!” – Yeon called out, struck with sensitivity. Pausing briefly, fist raised.

Moving it with a tensing of his muscles, needing to withhold himself from giving his young brother a beating for trash-talking like that. – “Am I wrong?” – Rang added with a smirk. Knowing just how to rile his older brother up. Yeon moved his fist a bit back with a scolding expression. Sucking in a breath between his teeth. Rang moved his hand over his head, waving him away without a glance. Going down the road. Taking another turn at a new block.

“I wasn’t done.” – Yeon called out coming after him again. Hurrying up a bit up before slowing his tempo down once more. Remaining two steps behind him. Rang took another mindless turn, not having acknowledged his brother once with a gaze. Ignoring him as he followed like a desperate dog. – “Ji-a.” – Yeon called out to get a reaction from his brother. Rang didn’t stop, turning into another street.

Yeon went after him continuing to yap about her and something he accused his brother off for doing to her. Lee Rang kept ignoring it. Bubbling it up till he finally reached his boiling point. Coming to a firm stop. Turning around angrily. – “Ya!” – he called out to silence his brother. – “Michyeosseo!” – shouting back at losing his patience. He approached his brother, poking his finger at his chest. – “I have better things to do than torment your friend!”

Yeon scoffed loud, not believing him. – “I know you!” – Yeon responded. Rang laughed at that. Trying to hide the fact that deep down it hurt a bit that his brother saw him that way. Still did. – “Whatever you accuse me off, I didn’t taunt her!” – Rang made clear. – “Why even?” – Rang puffed at the end of sentence.

“To torment me.” – Yeon accused him. Rang licked his underlip subtle, looking away. – “Did she lie to you that it was me?” – he asked. Yeon remained silent. His silence was enough to make Rang laugh hard once. – “You haven’t even asked her. You just assumed.” – Rang responded, moving his hands to his hips.

Exhaling loud, you moved your chair back from your desk. Stretching your arms out above your head. Squealing soft with your stretch, head slightly turning. – “Mwo?” – you said in surprise doing a double take. Rolling your chair closer towards the window that stretched from ceiling to floor. Grabbing the railings of your chair. Blinking surprisingly seeing him stand outside your workplace. Just a bit out of sight.

A smile curled up, making you bite your thumb bashfully. Was he here to surprise you? The thought alone made you all giddy. Too excited to continue working. Letting your gaze bounce thoughtfully around, you wondered what to do. Rolling a bit back to your desk, you reached for your phone. Fingers hovering over the screen. Debating if you should text him or call him. Then again if it was a surprise, you shouldn’t ruin it with a stupid text or call.

Placing your phone back, you eyed the clock. Knowing it would be lunch break in half an hour. Looking around, you saw your co-workers still busy. Knee trembling with excitement, you couldn’t sit still. Fighting the urge till it became too unbearable. Taking your phone, you got up. Bowing your head at your co-workers. They barely batted an eye thinking you might just go to the restroom.

Once in the hallway, you hurried towards the elevators. Jumping in one of them the last second. The doors closing behind you. Patiently waiting till the elevator reached the lowest floor. Hurrying out, not caring if you bumped against some people. Panting softly as you pushed the doors open. Greeted by a soft breeze once you felt the sunlight on your face. A welcoming gesture after being couped up inside all morning.

Coming to a brief pause, there he was. Back towards you. Smiling giddy, you ran up to him. – “Rang-ah!” – you called out wrapping your arms around him from behind. The sudden gesture made him jump out of his skin. – “Rang-ah did you come to surprise me.” – you said in a sugary sweet tone. Swaying his body a bit in your embrace. – “Rang-ah.” – you repeated in the sweetest tone, calling him with an affectionate tone in your voice.

Your eyes widened seeing a person move his body to the side, coming in your view. – “Annyeon Y/n.” – Yeon spoke. His sudden appearance made you gasp loud, arms dropping immediately from around Rang. – “Joesonghamnida.” – you let out, bowing deep immediately. Not aware that Yeon was here as well. Having thought it was only Rang. Yeon’s gaze went to his brother. Wanting an explanation. Rang touched his ear shyly. Avoiding his gaze.

You nervously dared to look at Rang. Begging for forgiveness with your eyes. Whatever was going on between the two of you had always been a low profile. Now it was outed so blatantly because of you. Rang’s gaze went to his brother. Seeing the soft glare in his eyes. Rang mimicked his glare. Sensing the tension between the brothers, you felt it wasn’t your place to be here. Bowing your head at them, you shuffled a few steps back.

Taking your distance from them to disappear quietly. Lifting your upper body up, you turned around, ready to leave when a grip kept you in place. Stopping you with force, being pulled back by Rang. He let go of your wrist, wrapping an arm around you. Scooting you closer against him. – “Taunting Ji-a has not even crossed my mind.” – he told his brother, making it clear it wasn’t him. Rang then turned his head, looking down at you. – “For my mind could only think of her.” – he confessed touching your chin with his thumb.

You blinked surprised back at him. He had never acted so openly towards you. It was always in secret and small gestures. – “Alright, alright.” – Yeon responded waving his hand to the front. Rang looked at his brother with a silly smile. Yeon sighed soft, touching his forehead thoughtfully.

Pushing his hand without a glance back at you to let you know it was alright. You slipped away from Rang, going up to Yeon. Surprising him with a hug. Yeon sighed bothered at the sudden affection. – “Be gentle with him.” – you whispered to him. Yeon sighed again, patting his hand against your back. A double meaning. Wanting you to let go and a promise. You let go of him, stepping back to Rang.

Yeon shook his head at his brother with a deep sigh. Acting like he was unbothered. Yet deep down he was glad for his brother to have found someone that truly understood him. Rang turned more towards you, holding you both by your hands.

“You need to go back inside.” – he urged you, knowing you were still on the clock. You hummed soft but with some disappointment. – “Come pick me up after work?” – you asked. Rang hummed with a nod.

Getting on the tips of your toes, you snuck a quick kiss against his cheek before he could fully understand what was happening. Staring in shock in front of him, you let go of him, running back inside. Yeon sighed loud patting his brother on his back. Motioning with his head to leave.
