you're back!! it's been so long!! I missed you <3 <3
ahhhh I missed you too!! Life has been insistent on grinding me to a paste but we perservere
#life has been so so so hard <3#i've never fully recovered from long covid so an average workday was leaving me absolutely drained#and on top of that i had an incident where i was trying to look into a prior auth for a patient#the kid was trans and cried on the phone because he was afraid his insurance wouldn't cover his testosterone now that trump had won#his doctor was at her wit's end because she had been assured on three separate occasions that the authorization was all set#so since it was literally a dead day at work anyway i spent about half an hour playing phone tag with the insurance#trying to find out what their mcfucking issue was#only to eventually be told they wouldn't speak to a representative from the pharmacy about it and that the prescriber had to make the call#so i did let the prescriber know and found a goodrx coupon that made the price like $20#patient was thrilled and very grateful for the effort#(this was like. the day before christmas and his last chance to get his medicine before he had to travel.)#pharmacist however immediately jumped my shit when i hung up for ''wasting time''#despite the fact that there was??? literally no other work to do???#we had three other techs on and i was keeping up with the data entry as things came in while i was on the phone.#tried to defuse the situation by apologizing but she was literally top-of-her-lungs screaming at me#in front of my coworkers and the like 2 customers nearby. so loud that one person could hear her clearly from the bathroom#had worked with this woman for 5+ years and she was the reason i went to this particular pharmacy in the first place#left and texted my boss what happened and told her that this gets fixed or i'm out. had a meeting with the store manager and everything#told them i would have a conversation with her to see if we could move past this. and she refused to speak to me#so i quit and my bestie quit in solidarity and we have been job hunting except that we both also got sick as FUCK the next day#like vomiting shaking massive headache unable to function sick#his fever was like 104.7 at one point? it was ungood#i'm finally about 85% better and back on the job hunt but like. yeah#thought i had something lined up that would free me from the shackles of customer service but unfortunately the guy changed his mind#and the one pharmacy interview i had they wanted to pay me $10/hr 💀 homie that's a $9/hr pay decrease#so yeah life is a prison etc etc BUT not having a full time job anymore DOES mean#that i have the time and energy to tungl again without all the chronic exhaustion#silver linings!!!

hello american tumblr user. i see that you have reblogged the nazi getting punched gif and the clip of the nazi flag being ripped. that is all well and good. but have you checked in on friends and family members affected by trumps executive orders? have you offered any tangible help?
this is not to say that showing your support for anti fascism is bad, but it needs to be paired with action.
posting about trump removing the price cap on prescription drugs does nothing if you are not also sharing resources with your diabetic friends like the American Diabetes Association's article on how to keep insulin costs manageable, or pharmacy discount cards like SingleCare or GoodRx.
instead of publicly posting about friends/family members that youre worried about due to the ICE raids, consider sharing things like the ACLUs article on immigration rights and what to do if youre being detained. PRIVATELY reach out to any undocumented people you know and advise them to carry a red card so that they can quickly and easily advocate for themselves. maybe even do some research yourself and find some local immigration lawyers that they can use if they ever need it.
this is not a post meant to guilt you, it is a post to remind you that there are a lot of ways that you can make a difference. start locally, with people that you can reach and give tangible assistance. does your friend group have a discord? make a resources channel and share things there. take care of your local community as best you can. that will do more good than a tumblr post will.
#it took me less than 10 minutes of googling to find these resources#you can do it to!#also stopppp posting about ur undocumented loved ones u are doing ICEs job for them

🔎Scam Exam(ination)🔍(updated 2/12/25)
Seen as: Selling HRT / Testosterone Scam Type: Fake Product / Fraud
Platform: Tumblr
Accounts running this scam: sirwinz
-----
This scam mostly targets LGBTQ+ individuals, mainly Trans folk who post in such related tags.
Those who do may receive a DM, comment, ask, or any such related contact from another tumblr user who claims to be a certified™ Doctor, Therapist, Pharmacist, ect, who is trying to offer you a 'new and amazing' drug that's not on the market, or a 'cheap alternative medicine' to name brand HRT or Testosterone.
One such account that popped up recently of this is drfelixortega.
Here is what their tumblr page looks like:
And this is the ask that they are sending users:
(Screenshot taken from this post.)
If you visit their page, you will only find six posts.
All very generic in nature.
None of which link to any sort of certification or credentials that prove that this person is a 'real' doctor. They just say they are a totally real (no fake) Doctor and expect people to go with it.
Like most scammers usually to do.
Here's another version of where another HRT scammer leaves comments on peoples posts:

-----
Why this is a scam:
1 - The risk.
Purchasing any sort of drug online from a shady dealer is not only a good way to get scammed, it's a good way to get sick and possibly even die. You have no idea what sort of ingredients are in the pills these supposed Doctors online are trying to sell you.
There was a story that surfaced on my local news station that talked about how in South Korea, capsules were seized that contained the contents of herbs and a mixture of human flesh/DNA.
When tested, the human material was found to belong to infants.
If you wish to read more, you can find the 2015 article here. But be warned, it is very disturbing. (No pictures)
2 - The scam.
I know that getting HRT or even Testosterone can be hard, and I know how the struggle and the desire to truly be yourself can become overwhelming. Your insurance may not pay for it, or you might not even have insurance to begin with, leaving without hope at all in your journey to begin transitioning.
But that still doesn't mean you should believe every offer that seems too good to be true the moment you're offered it online. In more cases than none, you will give these people money, and never receive a product.
Think about these things for a second:
Why would a doctor, surgeon, pharmacist, what have you, be on Tumblr of all places? Why would they browse the trans tag, or other such related tags, to find potential 'clients?' Don't you usually have to make an appointment with a doctor? For your insurance to then pay for to cover your medicine? How can a board certified pharmacist.. be a gender assessment surgeon at the same time? (it's a lie, that's why.)
3 - The truth.
The truth of the matter is, you cannot, unfortunately, get HRT or Testosterone without seeing a doctor for a prescription.
And buying it online from any sort of 3rd party website or manufacturer is simply putting not only your wallet at risk, but your life at risk.
Here is a screenshot taken from this GoodRX article:
Here is an article on the risks and dangers of buying unregulated / unlicensed HRT. One big one being that they can be contaminated.
And a final, general consensus from google:
-----
Final Thoughts:
As I've said in a few of my past scam Exam(inations), if something seems too good to be true, it most likely is. I know how life changing something can be and how desperate wanting it can make you, but please don't risk your wallet, or your life, for it.
Remember: These are just words these people offer you.
Ask for proof. In most cases they will not send you any and will get combative that you asked. If they do send you any kind of images, remember, you can reverse image search them to try and find the source. If you get pushy in asking for their credentials they'll probably end up blocking you and just want you to 'trust them' or send you clearly edited photos made in photoshop.
Never give anyone your personal information such as name, adress, phone number, occupation, birth date, SSN, a photo of yourself or your ID, or any kind of credit card information online who is selling you a product, especially if it's via a DM or chatroom type service or e-mail.
And never go to a strange website you don't know or have never heard of without googling it first.
You can also run it through something like VirusTotal to check if any of the big/main websites like Bitdefender or Kaspersky that detect things like phishing, viruses/trojans/maware, and all that fun stuff, have picked up on it being malicious.
Just... Be safe.
Please make sure you think before you talk to people like this.
Take care everyone. <3

disabled trans man in need of financial assistance
hi! im Aster, a disabled trans man in the US. the TLDR of this post is that I desperately need financial help to pay for my medical bills, as well as rent. Here's where you can donate/buy art from me. as of today, due to issues with my insurance, i need to start paying full-price for my testosterone prescription. A 30-day supply costs $425, and I'm not confident I could use a resource like GoodRx because it's a controlled substance. im in the process of getting more information to get it appealed, but until then i still need my prescription.
I'm also struggling to make rent; in part due to my disability but also because of the area I'm in. I live in a small mountain town, and there aren't any jobs that are realistic for me to have even with reasonable accomodation. I'd either end up spending more on gas than I'd make in a shift, or work somewhere that destroys my body even further and risk never being able to work again.
all this to say im broke as hell and really need some help; i have ko-fi (link here, you can donate or buy a commission), i'm pretty sure i have it set up to take paypal and card but if not let me know and we can figure something out. im also slowly working on designing prints + stickers + clothing and such i can sell on PoD websites so if you're interested in that keep an eye out here!
im not gonna post proof of my financial struggles to random strangers on the internet (but if you desperately need proof you can dm me and ill send censored screenshots of a couple things)

Yall I hate making personal posts like this. Genuinely. I try to keep my personal real life away from social media. But christ I'm struggling here.
I have really severe ADHD. I cannot work or function or do anything without my medication. I physically can't. But right now my medication is completely unaffordable for me.
I've been applying everywhere I can, but I live in a college town so the competition really fucks me over. I mean, which would they rather pick, a competent college student, or an adhd/autistic dropout who never learned how to mask properly?
And recently, I got dropped off my insurance plan. And thanks to me being unable to work decent jobs, I haven't earned enough to file enough taxes to qualify for affordable Healthcare. The only Healthcare I legally qualify for is a Healthcare that's $300 a month when I'm living off pocket change.
I really hate to ask, I do, especially since right now I'm without my medications so I can't get many things done, if at all, but if anyone is willing to help me out, I'm doing $5 doodle commissions. I'll work down the queue as best I can, it'll be slow but I'll do my best.
Link to my Ko-fi for assistance is below. I appreciate the help. Currently I can get a one month prescription of my medications for $45. So I'll be able to get it relatively soon but I need to save up so I can afford it each month.
If you're not able to assist that way, any advice on how to afford medications (I already use GoodRX) or any suggestions on jobs, would be greatly appreciated too.

Hey, I just wanted to say, it seems like you may be going on prescription meds sometime soon. I know you don’t have insurance. I just want to make sure you’re aware of good rx. It’s an app to get heavy discounts on prescriptions and you can look around at various pharmacies in your area for the lowest price. There are more versions of this sort of thing, but good rx is what i use.
I've got goodRX but I don't use it mostly? Most of the stuff I've been prescribed has been through Planned Parenthood and that's gotten me some really nice discounts, especially since the majority of the prescriptions are things like birth control

pharmacy tips from a pharmacy technician:
if you live in the US, check to see what your state laws are for emergency refills (there are multiple tables with multiple updates, ctrl+f to see your state)
if you have a drug that can't have refills (so you have to get a new rx every time you fill), ask your prescriber if you can get multiple prescriptions queued. ex: sending in 2 prescriptions for adderall at once, but with one saying "do not fill until 09/01/2024" on it. idk if every state allows this (and some prescribers might say no anyway), but it may be worth asking
dick pills are so common. they are so so common. the cute lady handling your tadalafil has already filled 5 others today for people younger than you. its mundane job shit. it wont be weird unless you make it weird
google often tells you how busy a pharmacy is hour-by-hour. if you think there might be weird shit with your insurance, youre likely to get more attentive care if the techs arent doing 6 things at once. if you need the full attention of multiple techs and the pharmacist crowding around the computer, youre far more likely to get that during a slow hour
we know what goodrx is. we know this. i get why youre upset, i really am sorry, but if i say i've run it through the discount, i have. i am not getting kickbacks from the manufacturer, and have no incentive to lie and jack up the price. its worth asking why exactly insurance isnt covering it tho, cause maybe itll cover a smaller day supply or similar drug.... maybe
if youre worried that your family member may be stealing your drugs (via picking them up on your behalf and not telling you), ask the tech to make a note saying not to sell it to anyone other than you (or any other exception you wanna make). their system may also be able to send you texts whenever your meds are picked up
if you just got out of the hospital with an opioid script, ask if you can get it as a physical copy instead of them faxing it to somewhere. you cant transfer those to other pharmacies after its been sent, they would have to rewrite one for you. some places have opioids in time-locked safes and cannot fill them after certain hours, but if you have a physical copy you can just take it somewhere else

how do you afford looking nice and living in la
Serious answer? Every single item in the outfits I post is thrifted, second hand, I've owned for 5-10+ years, DIY, a gift, borrowed, received as compensation for work (modeling, prop building, etc), or something I spent a small amount of money on (I can count on one hand the amount of things I've spent, like, over $100 on and it was all stuff like nice shoes or leather gear, the majority of "bigger" purchases tends to be like $25 band shirts at concerts or a pair of good jeans on sale, or like $10 for a new collar once every few months at the most) but then wear nearly every day until it disintegrates. Most of my outfits are creatively recycled from the same handful of clothing and accessories acquired in these ways over years of dressing like this. 😘🖤
I just try really hard to be frugal honestly so I can afford to do what I love, which is concerts and clubbing and buying the occasional cool accessory. I don't travel or go on trips frequently or ever, I don't really collect anything, I go out to eat super rarely, I've never bought a high end makeup product in my life (my favorite eyeliner comes from CVS), I do my hair at home, my biggest appearance expenses tend to be my tattoos which I save for and are a "permanent" or "one time" purchase (and so worth the cost lol), I use GoodRX for my hormones, I don't buy drinks out (you can buy a bottle of rum for less than the cost of one drink at any club you'll ever go to, bring it with you, take a shot or two in the car before an event, and it'll last you a few weeks at least— you've saved a couple hundred by the end of the month on alcohol alone), I shop at ALDI and Food 4 Less for groceries, I stick to very simple, barebones skincare and haircare routines, and I split cost of living expenses with my partner. Couple things for Americans to consider for the future here. Do not panic. We have some months before anything starts happening in earnest, but start to think about being prepared.
Are you up to date on your vaccinations, including boosters like the latest covid shot? Consider getting any vaccines you need sooner rather than later. If Trump does in fact let Kennedy make a mess of our public healthcare system, it's possible that some vaccines could become harder or impossible to access. Not sure if you need a particular shot? Check with your doctor.
If you are someone who can become pregnant, consider buying emergency contraception to have on hand--Republicans have been wanting to make it difficult or impossible to acquire. You won't be able to stockpile a ton of it or anything since I believe the meds have an expiration date, but you may want to at least get one pack ahead of time. If you have health insurance you can probably get it cheaply or free. If you are uninsured you can get generics pretty cheaply and there are also coupons on GoodRx. You can get it without a prescription both in stores and online. Information from the Office of Women's Health can be found here. If you have any questions about whether this stuff is ok for you to use (it is a form of hormonal birth control), ask your doctor.

I think a lot of people don't know about finasteride or are priced out of taking it. like it's the kind of thing that insurance usually won't cover and so on. like I had an acquaintance on a forum who'd been taking it for like a decade plus and who was very happy with it, but he made it sound like the cost was potentially prohibitive
the only good thing that dumb asshole mark cuban ever did was goodrx. this is an awareness post for prescription coupons

‼️Help a disabled trans man afford medication‼️
Hey yall, so I've been couch surfing over the summer trying to obtain concrete housing and my partner and I finally got an apartment but my job doesn't start until next week. I'm nearly out of my meds but I don't have insurance yet now that I'm out of the state it was in, and I have to pay for them out of pocket/with goodrx coupons. Two of these are my antidepressant and my HRT, the former of which I get severe withdrawals if I'm off of them for even a day.
Shit's extremely hard right now until we both get on our feet/our first paychecks, all of my things are still in storage out of state because I can't afford to ship them here yet. I can't even afford the storage rent ($177) and I'm trying to figure out how to pay that before tomorrow.
If you see this and have anything to spare I'd really appreciate it. I do tarot/oracle readings that you can DM me for if interested, I also crochet if there's something you'd like to commission me for.

do you have any advice for other trans guys who want to cruise? i want to but im too scared of violence and stis
If you’re worried about STIs use protection, get tested regularly, and consider starting prep. These days you can get all of these things for free online (at least in the us)
https://heymistr.com/?gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwiuC2BhDSARIsALOVfBLzoN64ZsWitnjnNs1a4awAbTs6Jk2n4xojYanRV_et__AJotkMxusaAmWIEALw_wcB
In terms of safety, I’d recommend taking a few precautions. If you’re planning to meet a stranger for sex, have a close friend you can share your location with and have them check in with you. I think it’s wise, if you’re in a location where you have to be discreet & verbal communication is limited (airports, bathrooms, etc) to use a cruising app like Grindr or sniffies so you can disclose that you’re trans on your profile. You can also use these apps to contact someone before you go to a cruising location at all, and you can plan an encounter somewhere nearby completely in advance.
I don’t have any experience with locations like sex shops or bathhouses. What I do know is that some of them are explicitly inclusive of trans men & will say so on their website, but that’s all about I can say!
#all my little words#one of my mutuals is making a zine about bathhouses if I remember correctly#curseofmeatthawsmoth is cis but he’s cool af & has a lot of experience in that area
