I know this distinction might seem trivial for some but if you state that “trans man” is a separate gender category itself from “cis man”, the caveat that “well some trans men want to have the same gender as cis men but not all of us <3” doesn’t save your rhetoric from being fucked. I cannot become a cis man, I am a trans man… & implying that I’m less of a man because of my medical history is blatantly transphobia & bioessentialist. If you don’t identify with maleness, nor your agab (or identify with both!), that’s fine. There are like, thousands of nonbinary identities out there that don’t isolate run of the mill trans men from the words that materially describe our relationship with gender.

It’s kind of been driving me crazy how I’ve been seeing a lot of people repeat this idea that continuing to identify with your agab as a trans person is “more trans” than trans people who don’t. Like let’s refresh our memory about what the terms “trans” and “cis” are indicating… does “trans” allude to a vaguely genderqueer lifestyle/aesthetic, or does it describe a rejection of one’s assigned sex/gender?
