Call It Love: Yoon-jun & Hye-seong

A jester and a pushover sitting at a bar drinking soju. I feel like both of them so quite often

They're almost invisible, taken for granted. They're always there though. Performers of the group. Yoon-jun's role is providing psychological support, guidance, comfort, protection. He's like that comfy old couch you liked taking naps on as a kid, only with a boring voice of reason, which is why he bites his own tongue so often. Hye-seong's role is only seemingly of a lighter kind, but she is the space filler, energy provider, the background noise, someone to laugh at, but also someone to kill the solitude with, and most importantly, she is someone whose absence echoes a little too loud. They both agree to these terms completely voluntarily, playing the roles comes naturally for both.

My dearest. Their interactions are e v e r y t h i n g. It took some time to get to this point, but it's worth it. 🌹

Both are givers in their nature, but when they're together, something magical happens. It's no longer about one sided giving or providing of any kind. It's like a solved puzzle with no missing pieces. Yoon-jun has a terrible need to lead and be seen as a leader. Hye-seong has a terrible need to endearingly follow and be cherished for doing so. Sometimes, they gladly exchange these roles, Yoon-jun submits to her easily and follows for as long as Hye-seong needs it. In those simplest of yearnings they found each other so complementary. When they're all alone, they reveal their true nature without playing any additional roles or games; in comfort of their tiny universe they suddenly feel completely seen by each other.

Time is never a valid indicator of quality of relationships. That's why I find their friendship much more profound in comparison to other displayed friendships. Drama implies that he's been there for her through her every break up, which means she continually exposed her most wounded self, her most embarrassing parts right there for him to see. He works his wonders of just being a shoulder to cry on. It's not explicitly said, but drama implies that Hye-seong is the first person Yoon-jun opens up to about his family's dynamics and the burden of being a black sheep among them. She gets to experience that cold atmosphere firsthand. His family rejecting her, like they would have done to Jun if only he showed his true face, and Jun insisting she is still valuable to him with or without their approval, probably pushed her towards him even more. As the show suggested she grasped at every display of affection, no matter if it isn't quite genuine or even directed towards her (like when Suho gave her a first drink).

I'd die (live) for a friendship like theirs. If there's no deeper understanding, if our souls haven't stared at each other despite all the shame and inner ugliness, I don't want it.

Watching Call It Love, I tend to put myself in Hye-seong's and Yoon-jun's shoes quite often. So many of their lines and behavioural patterns feel natural and close to what I'm personally used to. Maybe that's why I prefer watching these two and their interactions, reactions and character growth, no matter the outcome. They feel genuine, not fictional at all, plus they're like a breath of fresh air in this gloomy pool of family drama, as they don't go breaking our hearts, despite the complexity of their connection.

i think it’ll be permanent band members but they’ll be like session musicians i think… idk i can see photoshoots and interviews and other promotional stuff just being van and maybe benji but it would be nice to have proper members i guess, but i do think it’ll take a while for most to get used to them like bondy and bob were such a massive part of the band, especially bondy when it came to promo… it’ll be hard to live up to them really

Life Update 2023 summary

First of all, last year was complete shit and it's a torture to remember it again right now but for the sake of this blog well, I'm gonna endure it.

J A N U A R Y

- I got accepted at this BPO company that I've been talking about. I worked there for a month until I got sick and was terminated afterwards. Your girl was unemployed for months.

F E B R U A R Y

- After I recovered from being sick, Gek and I went to Pasacao beach for the first time and spent quality time together.

- Also DJ from high school suddenly hit me up but I just ignored it.

- started my online business, sold some pre-loved clothes and Carbonara. It was fun but really challenging

M A R C H

- Van my best friend went for a trip to Europe for 3 months so Gek, Mak and I had to stay together in one apartment without my dad knowing about it. I had to make up a lot of excuses for my dad cuz he's not gonna approve that I was living with 2 men.

- Holy Week? not sure but we got rat infestation here for the first time and ticks from Boris too.

A P R I L

- I started applying for a job and was scheduled for an interview like 2 jobs reached out to me (ADNU and Jollibee) but I didn't show up cuz I got cold feet. (not sure if this was in april, I might be tripping)

- Can't remember shit from this month

- Also started dieting and fasting this month onwards because of you know...

M A Y

- I got hired for a job!!! I went to work on my first day and I didn't feel like working there so after my lunch break, I didn't go back.

- Damn, the apartment got chaotic and awkward because my bff cheated on her man when she was in Europe and I was kinda involved with the drama. That shit was messy, had to deal with it until the both of them moved out.

- took so long to get my period and I was anxious!!! Didn't do it with Gek or anyone but shit was scary when my period was late. Longest cycle ever and it actually affected my performance when I was still working.

- Peñafrancia festival just got sad because I had no friends to spend it with unlike the previous year when I used to ride the Vikings with them, this year just hit different.

- Stressed because how the fuck am I gonna pay the rent and bills in my apartment if I was unemployed? but I got it so I am fucking broke right now as we speak.

- Bf resigned from his job to become a delivery man and his schedule was flexible so we spent a lot of time together.

- got a new job again but I lasted for 2 weeks only because I fucked shit up and this experience was probably the worst fucking one cuz literally it broke the remaining spirit I had and paralyzed me to go back in the field again.

He’d spent years clinging to his members and needing their attention, but now it was nice for him to have someone who he loved to do that with. He never wanted to be apart from you, he wanted to be by your side forever.

V ⇴ VACATION

If he had a few days without a schedule, Wonpil would definitely try and sort something out so the two of you could go away together. It didn’t matter where in the world the two of you went, just being able to enjoy a change of scenery and each other’s company was what was most important to the two of you.

W ⇴ WHINING

When he wasn’t able to hold you, he’d definitely groan. He’d sit, or stand, with his arms inviting you over until eventually you caved and gave him a hug.

X ⇴ XXXXX

His lips could often be found pressing against your skin if there was ever a moment when he would stop talking. You’d sit and listen to him for hours sometimes, eventually you’d have to silence him with a kiss just to remind him to breathe. He used kisses a lot as little reminders that he loved you when he was too exhausted to talk, or just when he wanted to get a little bit closer towards you, if that was even possible.

You were his biggest fan, the one that would always be by his side.

Z ⇴ ZZZ

Sleeping beside Wonpil was tough, he loved to lay for hours and talk to you about random things, he’d often still be talking, unaware that you had already fallen asleep beside him, pressing a kiss to your cheek before sleeping himself.
