this makes me so sad and angry, to see the very reason such an amazing artist was run out of a fandom still happening to them. It sucks so hard seeing all the people that made the TSS fandom what it is be thrust out because of insensitive, immature people who can’t show base level respect for artists and their work.

Everybody, both in the sanders sides fandom and in any other fandom, listen up:

Reposting art without credit is stealing. Reposting art with credit is stealing.

I don’t care where you found the art; pinterest, safari, instagram, bing, it does. not. matter. if you are posting art and it’s not yours, you are stealing art. putting “credit to artist” or “full credit to owner” does absolutely nothing.

for many artists, like Pastel Peach, creating artwork is their literal job, it’s how they make money and support themselves. it’s how they live. and when you repost it to your own blogs or boards or wherever, you are hurting them and their livelihood. you are harming a personal business. Because now, if someone comes across their art and likes it, they’re giving you likes and comments and interaction, not the person that made the art. they’re boosting your page for the algorithm, not the person that made the art. you’re the one profiting off of someone else’s hard work. that is theft, the very definition.

so PLEASE, when you find art online that you like, and you don’t know who the artist is or don’t know if they allow reposting, Do Not Repost It Anywhere. Ever. If you really want to, you can find the original artist, and ask permission to repost it if they don’t make it clear outright that they don’t want people reposting their work. But if it’s not completely and 100% obvious that they welcome with reposts, do not repost anything.

and OP, as someone who is still a part of the TSS fandom and was part of it years ago when you were active in it, from the bottom of my heart i am so sorry it became such a toxic, unsafe place. You’re absolutely an amazing artist and your decision to separate yourself from the fandom and any other group of people are completely valid. I’m so glad you are protecting yourself and your beautiful work, and i’m so sorry there are people that give you a hard time about it. I’m wishing more respect for you and your work to come your way, and please remember you’ve always got me and many others in your corner 💕

in case anyone ever wonders about the life of a fanartist, this is it

someone approached me about a post by the first screenshotted op(ive blocked out their names cause I'm pretty sure theyre minors and don't want ppl harassing them) in which they used a sanders sides COMMISSIONED piece I did, without credit. I was told the person who contacted me about it tried to comment my @ to credit me, but was rudely told off and the comment removed.

I then approached them and was my best to be polite about asking them to take down the post. They did, but then blocked me. I thought "fine, whatever" BUT THEN their partner sent me the 2nd screenshotted post. I responded, but they blocked me too.

I logged onto a fake account and checked their Insta and saw this

I did not target anyone, I did not 'harass' or 'annoy' anyone, I simply asked that I be respected as an artist.

I don't wanna hear anyone ask me why I don't do sanders sides art anymore, this. This is why. Respect artists.

part 3 to eddie’s tattoo saga, feat. girl-dads!steddie

part 1, part 2

The first time Eddie’s oldest daughter draws on his arm with her Crayola markers, Eddie immediately gets it tattooed onto him permanently. 

She’s barely two so it’s mostly scribbles, but she’d never done it before, and she’d looked up at him with this big, proud, cheesing smile when she was done, and Ed had been caught so off guard with just how insanely much he loved her – that indescribable love parents felt for their children that, before becoming a parent, Eddie had thought he’d be able to beat the stereotypes and describe, but Moe proved him to be incorrect just about the second she came along – and he hadn’t known what else to do. 

He doesn’t even really think about it, just takes a photo so his artist will get the colors right and has her put it in an empty spot on the sleeve he’s been working on for years.

With Eddie and Steve’s second daughter, Robbie, it goes mostly the same. She's just about two years old and draws a collection of swirling scribbles on the back of his hand. Steve advises him to not get it tattooed in the same spot, and Eddie can understand why it might not always be opportune to have permanent child-scribbles in such a visible spot, so, again, he has his artist use it to fill in a gap in the sleeve on his left arm.

When their littlest girl, Hazel, is born, Ed intentionally leaves a spot on his bicep open for whenever she feels so inclined to draw on him like her big sisters had. She takes her sweet time, so much so that Eddie starts to get nervous that she might never end up doing it at all, and he wasn’t going to ask her. It had to be a natural thing, obviously. In the end, she’s nearly five years old, sitting in his lap with a pack of markers while he reads a book to her (Charlotte’s Web, because it was the first chapter book he’d read aloud to both Moe and Robbie, and now it's Hazel’s turn), coloring inside the lines of the tattoos he already has when she gets to the empty space on his arm he’d left just for her. A little bit later, it’s filled with a marker drawing of a blue house next to a green tree, with a yellow sun above the chimney.

“It’s our house,” Hazel tells him.

Eddie calls to schedule the tattoo session the second he finishes the next chapter.

He gets the okay from his artist to bring Hazel with him to the appointment, which he hadn’t done with Moe and Robbie because they’d been too little. They hadn’t had the disposition for it either, but Hazel is their sweetest baby, all solemn and shy, and the session is right before her usual naptime, so once he’s in the chair, she just sits in his lap and quietly watches his artist work until she dozes off about halfway through the process.

Eddie spends much of that session lost in thought – he’s becoming introspective in his old age (forty-five and some change).

He’s thinking about all the tattoos he’s gotten, all the spontaneous ones he’s gotten for Steve and for their girls. He’s thinking about what that means. 

In the family that Eddie and Steve have built, Steve is the one taking all those pictures and home videos and stuff. He’s the one who gets photos printed, framing their favorites and hanging them around the house and setting small ones on side tables, sticking others to the fridge with little magnets they’ve collected over the years, storing the rest in overstuffed shoe boxes he swears he’ll organize into photo albums someday (but their life is so hectic he probably won’t ever get around to it).

This is Eddie’s version of that.

This is his way of displaying to the world how much he loves his family, this thing that he’d spent years pretending he didn’t want because that was easier to sit with than the belief that it wasn’t even attainable for him, that now he gets to have.

It’s fucking incredible, is what it is, and it deserves to be documented.

(partially-solved?) mystery of the night:

in late 2020 I tweeted something about Summer Girl, a summer hit from a Canadian band called Stereos, that came out all the way back in… 2009 (oh my god).

I have no idea if this track got much international airtime, but I’m betting fellow Canadians remember it, because it was eeeeeverywhere for a while. I vaguely remember the band coming out with another song that did relatively well on pop radio not long after, but I don’t think I ever heard much about them after that. I certainly didn’t know they were still around.

…Until tonight, when at 1am, they suddenly liked that tweet and also followed me.

This led me to their page, where I discovered that they’re putting out a new version of Summer Girl this week. (At least this explains why they were probably searching for mentions of their band + that particular song, bc I don’t see how else they found my nearly-four-year-old tweet.)

I… have to admit I’m kinda curious? The song was a bop, in the way that formulaic pop hits so often are, but it’s also pretty damn dated. It SOUNDS extremely 2009. (Still reeling from the discovery that fifteen years have passed, though.) I’m interested to see how they might have updated the sound to be more contemporary and (hopefully) more unique to the band.
