Submitted Prompts #144
*shakes a bag of bird skulls I found in the woodsI and places it on your desk like it's a bag of gold*
I had an idea:
What if the Fenton parents are, in fact very competent Hunters, but they love their children more than their work?
Say the first shot Maddie ever fired at Phanton actually lands, and the scream he makes sounds too much like Danny's voice, to a point even with any ghostly distortion, his own still recognizes the voice.
I can see her pulling Jack to the side, making a ruckus about how the "darn ghost got away just as her blaster ran out of juice". Mostly as a way to get Danny her darling son to leave and go somewhere safe, while his parents have a whole breakdown in the GAV about their dead son.
And so begins the stealthy studies on how Phantom's "human disguise" works, the Revelation of Horrible Truth, keeping tabs on Danny's growth and revising their whole attitude on Ghosts to account for the fact that Danny himself is, at least in some part, a Ghost himself, but all he's done is live his life (and be the little hero Mom always said he'd grow up to be).
Jazz stumbles across his secret and is immediately pulled aside to join the secret "Protect the Baby Ghost" family group chat.
"And what about all the times they shot at him in canon" I hear you ask?
They're damn good shots, but while Maddie can train herself to aim just so that the shot misses just enough it looks like Phantom dodged it, Jack has the Fenton Bazooka outfitted with a tracking HUD that purposely fails to hit everyone's favorite Ghost Boy.
Danny picks up on that, but not on the fact that They Know.
And so begins the single most convoluted training arc ever.
Next time Skulker's in town, Phantom has become untouchable. Not a single shot or electrified net reaches it's target.
(The electrified weapons in particular send the Fentons into a rage when Sam and Tucker finally can't keep hiding it, and come clean about what happened, since the Fentons have proven themselves to be trustworthy)
When Red Huntress comes about, and Valerie Grey becomes barely a distant acquaintance after having only just now started becoming more than a friend, and with the GIW sniffing about, Maddie and Jack pull Danny to sit between them and finally tell him they know, and they want to prove that they'll love him just as much as before, whether Human or Ghost.
Danny breaks down in the safety of his family's love, and takes some time off as Phantom to help his parents establish a proper line of communication with the Ancients, considering they've kinda adopted themselves into the roles of Aunts and Uncles towards their little Ghostling.
Which is a good thing, because in Phantom's absence the GIW make a giant spectacle of destroying several houses while chasing some blob ghosts. They're chased out of town by brick, stone and metal bat.
Next time Red Huntress actually manages to hurt Danny, the Fentons pack up and leave. The Portal can be transported somewhere else. It can be rebuilt.
Their baby boy can't be rebuilt, no matter how much he likes to be a little shit and ignore Reality to quote Shakespeare at his own head (thank you Mr Lancer, for not giving up on him) or "give them a hand".
As Fenton takes the last tour of Amity, Phantom disappears. The Protal has been left seemingly unguarded.
The Ghosts decide to have one last hurrah in Anity Park before Danny closes the Portal, as per their deal. They won't hurt anyone, just cause chaos, but in return Phantom won't stop them. It's not like poor Red has the energy to chase them down, now that she's been "upgraded" into Amity's sole defender (the one time Lancer compares her new lack of sleep to Danny's, horrifying pieces start lining up too well in her mind)
The Fentons move out. Into a quiet farm neighbouring the land that belongs to the delightful couple that are the Kents, and their darling son, little Clark, who stares at Danny mildly horrified whenever he comes by to babysit, or help out with fixing the stubborn tractor. One day under Danny's clever hands, and Jonathan Kent's eagle-eyed gaze, and that damned tractor has never worked so well before. The boy's alright in the old man's eyes, and he makes sure they kid knows it.
After quiet rooftop admissions of one small boy's growing powers (I know Adult Clark is a brick house of a man, but what if he was a little twig while young) and the reveal of Something More Than Human from his honorary older brother, the course of Time sets into it's best version, and an Old Clock smiles, as Superman rises, only to be scolded by Spectre for recklessness.
(Dunno how well it came across, but I'm envisioning Valerie's feelings towards Danny to go from bitter resignation because she " had to" push him away, to horrified despair when the truth starts falling into place. He's her "the one that got away". And it's not like she gave him much of a reason to trust her with his secrets.
Maybe older and wiser Red Huntress gets invited to the Justice League, and has to deal with not just Fenton, but also Phantom flirting with her, after a good long conversation on how dumb they both were as kids, and a mutual vow of "I think I can do better now, and I want to prove it to you")

Growing Up in the Justice League HC
Purely self indulgence cause I've been on this and idk why so bear with me here
I can just easily romanticize growing up in the Justice League too easily and it would be a problem
Tumblr media
you're brought in at as a baby to be trained by Diana
Apollo brings you to her and tells her that you are an ancient being that regenerates as a new person when you die and this is the form that you have taken. As you get older, you will remember the skills and memories of your past lives but you will have to be raised with someone who can handle you
Diana just loves babies so she had no problem with that
I'd say the league has been established for some time during this point and everyone knows each other's identities in the core group
You grew up in Paris and New York being raised as a mama's child
Bruce is the closest you get to a dad and he does his best
SPOILS YOU ROTTEN
all the Barbies and Legos and whatever toys you'd want as a child
They know that you've been trained as an assassin, wizard, queen, knight, sorceress, scientist, all of these other things that can be traumatic so they just want you to have a great, decent childhood
when you start remember things they begin training you to be a hero
It's like PE and recess all in one since they're really just trying to figure out what you can do
Clark treats you like a fragile piece of glass up until you're a teen cause teenagers confuse him and he just cannot not see you as an innocent beep boppin child sometimes
Barry keeps up with the culture and knows all the songs from your favorite childhood movies and tv shows that you grew up watching on the massive computer in the watch tower when you were up there
will dance to any Barbie song since he knows them all by heart
Hal makes fun of you two but secretly enjoys the movies and is very emotionally invested in Princess and the Pauper and Diamond Castle
Diana and Bruce make sure that you have a great education and training
They are the mature parents of the group and want to make sure you're a functioning member of society
you've got a bag full of grandparents in the Kents, Allans, Princes, Alfred and they all love you to death
Alfred teaches you to make the best tea and gardening, Ma Kent teaches you to quilt and make bread, Pa Kent teaches you how to drive a tractor and farm, Hippolyta teaches you about the Greek gods and ancient cultures and how to ride horses, the Allans would have loads of board games to play and love having you over
Once Young Justice or Teen Titans comes around you don't join since you're officially a Justice League member and get along better with the adults since you were raised by them
That doesn't mean that you don't like or hang out with the kids, it's just that you have better inside jokes with Hal and Barry
When Superboy comes around and the League disappears, you were the only one not taken by the portal since you were helping out some civilians
You knew that Clark wasn't dead and you knew the League was somewhere
What kept you afloat was humor and Kon attached to that since he just needed someone that wasn't insane in his life
you probably won't develop romantic feelings for each other but it's more of a camaraderie since you were both raised in a really unorthodox way
when the league finally comes back, you say it's the happiest day of your life and rant to them that you were the only one who knew they weren't gone but no one understood it
Hal and Barry are known for having a thing for chicken tenders and make sure to instill an addiction in you for chicken tenders
Arthur (Aquaman) really really really likes them too but he doesn't realize it until he comes to the League
Clark would be the one to take you out for ice cream randomly or if you're having a bad day
the mother hen therapist type
You're America's favorite Justice Leaguer and often go viral for in uniform interactions with the League
Dancing with Flash at a Presidential ceremony because the music is too beep boopin good and you can't help but bop around a little bit
Media also loves you as a civilian and it's been suspected that you are the love child between Diana and Bruce since I mean- that would make the most sense
it's a running joke in the league

Oh, I found it!
(So, background:
in this WIP, Martha had several miscarriages and the Kents are a foster family, and applying to adopt. In over a decade, they took care for many kids with disabilities (including fatal) and youth at risk (that come as seasonal workers and stay... well, as long as they need. )
I have some ideas about siblings coming for a week-to-month, and some emergency locations, but the most important part here is this:
Johnathan Kent is forty-one years old when he pull the old (but loyal) truck in front of the sheriff's office. It's been a surprisingly hard winter, and there's still snow. Samous was a good Sheriff. He grew up in this town, and danced at the Kents wedding, centuries ago. He was there when Martha lost her baby and when Johnathan grew cold, and when they stuck together, and as they took so many children in. (He was there when small graves appeared in the graveyard and photos kept cover the wall by their staircase.) And so, it may not be so out of line when he says "I think that no mother would leave a child out in the snow," he slowly say. "And if someone did it, then they weren't a mother, see? And I think that if someone finds a child and care for 'em, they might be as real parents as can be."
Jonathan doesn't understand. "If I heard about a baby left out in the snow," Samous continues, "I probably had to report it. And that would involve many others coming in, taking the baby to- I don't know, Kensas City? And finding his family or a good family. Now I think there's a good damn family right here that already proved to be good enough to raise kids."
(Anyway, they cover it up as "Martha gave birth home and they didn't want to report it before they knew if the baby survived ")
While some believe young Clark was left on the Kents footstep at a snow storm, and others consider him as a changeling/a wish come true. Clark grow up in a house full of life and death and photography and making the most of your time, because every moment matters. He grows up knowing every life ends, and how to use medicals and life support. And when, years later, he brings home another boy (who break when Martha tell him to call her Ma, and hold desperately into her hug), she just smile and add another plate to the table.
The collective mind forget that Clark was anything but Ma's miracle child. Born unexpected, in the middle of a snowstorm.
"Of course he's strong," they'd say. "He had to be. Been brought to the world like that."
And if he's a bit stronger then normal?
A bit off, sometimes?
Well then.
Ma and Pa Kent took in many special kids.
It only fits that their miracle child would also be one.
Starting to think a cooler headcanon for Clark’s upbringing might just be that the entire town of Smallville collectively decided to just go with it and accept that Martha and John's kid has superpowers, but we don't talk about it.
Someone's tractor gets stuck and nothing can get it out? "Be a dear and run down to the Kents, would you? Ask for Clark?"
"Why Clark, we need a machine--"
"Run along now."
Or if he kicks too hard and the football vanishes into the upper stratosphere, no it didn't, we all collectively saw it land over there *vague hand movements*

How about Y/N Wayne and Clark having a daughter? The name could be Lara
I'm mostly sure this request came in before That It Was but I've planned on introducing Clark and Wayne!Bro's daughter for a while and here she is!
Although because I planned this before this request her name isn't Lara (though that's a good option), it's actually Elizabeth or Lizzie. (A call back to Wayne!Bro's cousin Elizabeth Kane, sister of Kate Kane)
So without further ado, here is the birth of Clark and Wayne!Bros daughter! (featuring what I just realized was the first time I've written about the Kents..)
Tumblr media
You paced the waiting room anxiously, 12 hours, that's how long you and Clark have been in the hospital while Millie -your surrogate- was in labour.
"Y/N, take a seat, your pacing isn't going to make time move faster" Clark said but you continued to pace.
"I can't sit still, I've sat still for too long" You told him and he sighed. Of course you knew that Clark, even with his calm and collected appearance was nervous. (Though not as nervous as he was for Jon's birth seven years ago) No, your husband knew how to hide his worry but you never took the time to learn. Or more specifically, you never took the time to transfer the skill from the boardroom to daily life. You were what your husband and eldest son lovingly called- a worry wart. Not the best description for someone who married Superman and whose family are all crime fighting vigilantes but an apt description of what you were.
Suddenly the doors to Millie's hospital room opened and a small army of doctors, nurses and technicians rushed a bed through the hallway. You looked worriedly between Clark and the group and you husband strode to your side. "Her heartbeat is stable" He whispered in your ear and that eased the deathgrip your fear had on your lungs.
A lone nurse rushed back from the group.
"What's happening?" Clark asked, beating you by only a second.
"Millie's fine and so is the baby, there are some problems with the delivery- specifically that the baby's having trouble making it through the cervix so the doctor has ordered a c-section for both the mother and the baby's safety" The nursed explained and you nod,
"So they'll both be alright?" You asked and the nurse nodded.
"In fact c-sections are faster than normal births so the baby will be here sooner than expected" She added and you smiled and leaned into Clark.
"Thanks goodness"
After 50 minutes (you checked) a nurse came out of the OR holding a little bundle.
"Mr. Wayne, Mr. Kent, this is your happy, healthy baby" He said and placed the little bundle in your arms. She indeed was big for a baby with adorable chubby cheeks and big e/c eyes.
"Hi" You simply said as you looked down at your daughter and she looked back at you with curious eyes as if asking who you were.
"I'm dada" You told her and Clark leaned over your shoulder and held out his finger for your daughter to squeeze.
"And I'm papa" He said and she smiled. Your daughter smiled at you for the first time and you wanted cry with joy.
the staff set up a room for you, Clark and the baby to stay in and while the baby napped you checked up with Millie to make sure she was okay and to thank her, after all she brought your baby girl into the world.
a few hours later Ma and Pa Kent along with Jon came by and while Clark was sitting by the window doing skin to skin with his daughter. Jon ran to hug you.
"Is she here?! Is she here?!" He asked and you laughed bringing a finger to your lips.
"She is and she's sleeping" You told Jon, your son was probably the most excited for the birth of your daughter, after all she was his sister! He was a big brother now!
"Why's Pa shirtless?" Jon asked and Ma kent laughed guiding her grandson to her son.
"Pa's holding your sister as close as he can so she feels welcomed into the family" Ma Kent explained and Jon nodded, that made perfect sense.
"Have you decided on a name yet? Cause Clark mentioned you wanted another family name" Pa Kent said and you nodded.
"We did yeah" You said and Martha turned her attention to you and Clark. You looked at your husband to see if he'd say something but his eyes were closed and he seemed wholly focused on your daughter so the announcement fell to you.
"Her name is Elizabeth Kent-Wayne" You announced and Ma Kent smiled.
"Was Elizabeth a grandmother of yours?" She asked and you shook your head.
"A cousin actually, she passed when she was a kid" You explained.
Jon came up to you and tugged lightly on your shirt, "Can I hold her?" He asked and you chuckled.
"If you can wake up Pa, sure" You said and Jon was on the task. You subtly pulled out your phone and took a few pictures, both of Jon's attempts to wake his Pa and of Clark sleeping with your daughter on his chest.

Fathers from Beyond the Stars (Clark Kent x Thor + Son!Reader)
Requested by anonymous for Adopted dads Thor and Clark Kent
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You really do have the best life.
Clark and Thor met when Thor first came to Earth after Odin cast him down.
Being possessed of super senses as he was, Clark has his ear to the ground when it comes to things landing on Earth.
And though it was not Odin’s intention, it was Clark who taught Thor what it means to be worthy - to do things not for recognition or honor, but because of genuinely wanting to help.
It started when Thor mentioned needing his hammer, and Clark simply picked it up. “This belongs to you, right?”
Thor fell in love at that moment, seeing how selfless and kind Clark was when he fought with him against the Destroyer, whose magic-entrenched powers Clark was weak to. He had to leave to Asgard, but he swore to find Superman again.
Clark had smiled. “I’ll keep an ear out for you.”
Superman had intervened at the Battle of New York, but had to escape before being mobbed by the Avengers with questions.
Instead, he met Thor again a few hours later when he and Lois traveled to New York City to report on the battle.
“It’s you!”
Clark was quite surprised Thor had recognized him but not as surprised as Lois that Smallville knew the God of Thunder.
“I said I’d find you again. I couldn’t stop thinking about you.”
Clark had smiled. “Really? I didn’t do much. You’re the one who brought that thing down.”
They keep talking, and Clark suddenly realizes that he LIKES talking to Thor. That he LIKES Thor. Like, LIKE-likes him. So they promise to meet again, and they do.
Thor returns to Midgard and seeks out Clark - he’s finally mastered his Midgard disguise - which is him wearing Earth clothes - and they go on several dates.
Thor feels like Clark is just a being made of light - he’s kind and sweet, and even when he feels tired he’s always willing to help others. Clark loves Thor’s passion and drive, how he can always show his feelings. They are the sun and the storm, but they belong together.
And when Clark finds a baby boy in need of a home, with no one to care for him... he finds himself bringing you home to his lover.
Thor never really thought of himself as being a good candidate for fatherhood. But seeing you in Clark’s arms made him want to be there for you in ways Odin never was for him. To help you grow, to protect you from the world, and to lift you up with his support.
Thor and Clark get an apartment together - it helps that Thor can use Stark money to get a nicer place for the three of you - also having the support of Ma and Pa Kent helps a lot - Frigga comes to visit them once in order to see her grandson and bless him with her magic, and once more to bless the wedding between them
All this was earlier than you can remember. Unfortunately both you and Clark vanished in the Snap, leaving Thor brokenhearted, but also overjoyed when you were returned. He retired from heroics then, never wanting to leave either of you again.
Thor is always around and he loves taking care of you. He’s sweet and encouraging, but he’s no disciplinarian. He can’t say no to his little prince and he’ll even let you fall asleep playing video games with him on the weekends and just let you use him as a pillow.
Clark always makes time for the two of you and he’s always supportive and dependable. He helped pull Thor out of his sorrow and grief, and told him that he doesn’t need a hammer to tell him he’s worthy anymore. He calls you his sunshine and even if he’s the parent who makes sure you get to bed, he does it in such a way that you can’t even resent him for it - he treats you with respect that adults rarely give their children.
Thor treats Connor like a son when he emerges and encourages Clark to see him as a gift from Fate instead of a random chance. When they have Jon, Thor thanks the Norns for giving him another sweet child.
They are well suited to taking care of super-powered children (even you, if Frigga’s blessing manifests itself in magic). Other Asgardians frequently visit, as well as Leaguers. If Thor ever returns to hero work, it will be with his husband as a member of the Justice League.
Together they will help you and your brothers through any hardship and love you through any challenge. They may not be of Earth, but you are their world.

the water is rising/i’m too tired to swim
There was nowhere else on Earth like Smallville. Or, for that matter, off of it.
Of course, little but the high holidays and complete disaster seemed to bring him back here these days. Sometimes he had to wonder whether regular adults felt the same as him, living so far from the places they’d grown up in. That aching wonder at being able to come home, with the overlapping whisper of a sense that that home couldn’t last forever.
Disaster made Clark Kent more introspective than Christmas, it turned out.
Bruce, who had stripped down to the suit baselayer with a pair of Clark’s sweatpants pulled over top, was leaning against the railing of the porch. He appeared to be watching the sunrise, though Clark suspected that was a front for him staring into the middle distance lost in thought. Clark would swear part of the reason the man kept the lenses in his cowl down during League meetings was to disguise the difference between his absent thinking expression and the force of his focus.
“How’s he doing?” Clark asked, voice kept low. Ma and Pa would be up soon anyway, but after the late night they’d caused it was the least he could do.
“Lantern is fine,” Bruce replied. His only tell was a tightening of his knuckles on the railing, there and then gone.
“And you?”
This earned him a look. “Any word from Diana?”
“She’ll be here by tonight with news. But we have our orders.”
“Orders.” Bruce’s expression was one of immense distaste. “We have a round table for a reason.”
“That’s what I’m usually telling you,” Clark replied, just as he normally would, and then winced. “I’m sorry.”
“For what?”
Now Bruce’s face had gone still, an indication either that he was angry or that he genuinely had no idea what Clark meant. Clark, used to treading that particular line on the side of caution - at least in this one respect - felt his eyes becoming inexorably attracted to his feet. Being back home turned him into an ashamed eight-year-old too easily.
“I should have been prepared,” he said.
Because he should have been. He should have known. Of all the temptations and causes, there were few other things Hal Jordan would like to throw his life away for with that particular degree of abandon. This had been Clark’s problem, and he should have been able to solve it without ever involving either of these two men, with their particular idiosyncrasies.
Just - kids were a hotspot for both of them, even kids from far-flung planets being trafficked across a variety of civilisations that just so happened to include the human ones. Bruce had long accepted that it was more reasonable to live for children, not die for them, but Hal hadn’t got that memo yet.
“You can’t possibly imagine that I’m angry with you.”
“I,” Clark began, and then stopped. To be honest, he hadn’t really imagined that Bruce wasn’t.
Bruce turned to look at him more fully, coolly assessing. The huff afterwards was indecipherable.
“Bruce-”
The man had turned back to the horizon. He said, “Clark, have I ever struck you as the type to make excuses for Green Lantern?”
Clark stepped up and leaned against the railing next to him. “There was never any danger of anyone accusing you of favouritism, certainly. Well, not towards Hal.”
The huff this time was definitely shaded with amusement. “Lantern can take responsibility for his own mistakes, Kal. He doesn’t need you falling on your sword for him.”
It wasn’t a mistake, Clark didn’t say, because he didn’t need to. But Bruce’s anger would translate as it liked to - Clark had known him for long enough to know that.
“Well, what’s a mission without the post-mission pervasive guilt,” Clark replied, an attempt at humour. Because it was Bruce, it didn’t fall flat. That was one thing about the man no one who didn’t know him would guess - humourless he may seem, but he was capable of poking fun at himself. Or maybe it was just because he knew Clark well.
It was Hal’s bloody victorious smile that had done it, he thought. Or maybe it was Batman’s sudden anger, alien from beneath the cowl which usually presented only the cold judgement of old god. That fierce protective anger usually reserved for Robins, in a situation where there were no Robins to be found. Or that Clark hadn’t known that Green Lantern might be a focus of it, hadn’t known there was anything there to know.
It wasn’t that it didn’t make sense. It’s that he hadn’t considered it, not once.
“You boys need to get to bed,” Ma said from the door. She was folded warmly into her dressing gown, the one Lois had got her for Christmas a few years back. “Don’t think I don’t know you’ve been up all night.” Her cool hand settled on Clark’s back, like it had from the time he got tall enough she didn’t have to hunch to do it.
“I’m always up all night,” Bruce replied, with a lilt of amusement at himself.
“Well, maybe in those cities that never sleep, that works. Out here, if you don’t sleep with the sun, you won’t get through a day on the farm,” Ma replied. Her other hand pressed to Bruce’s back, there and gone. “You look exhausted.”
“Well, if I need to help milk cows later,” Bruce conceded. It was entirely possible that he had no idea Ma and Pa didn’t keep dairy cows on the property, and hadn’t since their last gentle old house cow had gotten too old to calve. For a man with a seemingly encyclopedic knowledge on many topics, his practical knowledge of farming was limited to desultorily prodding at the inner workings of Pa’s old truck.
“Off you go,” Ma ushered, shooing them into the house like a woman her size shouldn’t have been able to. “I’ll wake you if the world is ending.”
“Not if I hear it first,” Clark said.
*
Bruce retreated to the guest room, feet soundless on the rugs along the hall floor. Martha was right enough, that he needed sleep. As irritating as it was to need it now in particular, he could concede that there was little place safer than Superman’s family home while Superman was in it.
Hal was curled on his side in the guest bed, though he twitched and roused at the sound of the door opening. “Mmff. Hey, baby.”
“Lantern, it’s me,” Bruce replied brusquely.
“Nothing wrong with my eyes,” Hal said. He moved under the duvet, and then hissed out his breath. “Unlike my ribs, fuck.”
“Give me a pillow.”
One incredulous brown eye focussed on him from amidst said pillows. He seemed to have placed them strategically, though Bruce wasn’t sure when.  “Over my suppurating corpse.”
Of course. Bruce picked up his cape from the pile of his gear in the corner and spread it on the floor beside the bed. There was at least a thick rug, some kind of synthetic shag.
“The fuck are you doing?”
“Sleeping,” Bruce replied. “You ought to do the same. You’ll be coherent enough for a strategic meeting later.”
“That’s a funny way to describe you and Clark arguing in the kitchen while Diana watches and laughs internally,” Hal said, “But it does explain a lot about your personal approach to injury recovery.”
“It’s just a concussion.”
“If you could tell yourself from six hours ago that, I’d appreciate it.”
Bruce wore that like the censure it was meant as. He knelt down on the rug, though it made his spine complain and his hip crack audibly. Another shade of embarrassment. At least this one was in front of the team member most likely to understand human fallibility.
Hal heaved a gusty sigh. “Just get in.”
“What?”
The single eye managed to convey challenge as well as the rest of the man tended to. A hand pushed the blankets back.
“It’s a double,” Bruce said. The Kents clearly didn’t have many guests visiting who measured over 5’8”.
“We can snuggle,” Hal replied.
“With those ribs?” Bruce asked, but conceded. The floor had never looked tempting, but it failed to even begin to measure up against a bed with Hal Jordan in it.
“Unbelievable,” Hal muttered as Bruce slipped in beside him. The mattress was body-warm where he’d sprawled across it, and a touch too soft. It rolled them into the centre together, something Hal seemed eager to take advantage of. Wary of bruises, Bruce allowed himself to be nudged onto his back with Hal’s good side belly-down on him, head cupped into his shoulder.
Once settled, Hal let out a momentous sigh. “Nice.”
“I live to serve.”
“Well, that’s not true, but okay,” Hal said into his shirt. “You scared the fuck out of Clark.”
That’s not at all how Bruce remembered the situation, but it seemed cruel to contradict someone with a head injury. Also, Hal’s good arm seemed to be trying to wriggle between Bruce’s back and the mattress, and it was distracting.
“He thought you were going to produce kryptonite from some orifice and rip his stomach out his nose,” Hal continued. “You told him it wasn’t his fault, right?”
“Of course,” Bruce replied. “I told him it was yours.”
Hal huffed a laugh. “Actually, it’s yours, if anything.”
Bruce looked down at him. After a moment, Hal’s head rolled so their eyes met. There was amusement on his sleepy face. “You really shouldnt’a started going out to fight gods and aliens in leather and kevlar. Or you shouldn’t have slept with me. One of those two things.”
“Guess which one I think it is.”
“Yeah, yeah. You’ve got regrets. Well, so do the rest of us, you’re not special. And, might I just add-”
“I’m not sure I could stop you.”
- you still ended up in bed with me right now.”
Bruce sighed through his nose, looking to the ceiling. “There’s only one spare bed.”
“You could have shared with Clark. It wouldn’t be the first time, right?” The tone was distinctly lascivious. Hal shouldn’t have had the blood content for that quite yet, but it proved his healing capacity if nothing else. Bruce felt an expression of distaste cross over his face, but doubted Hal could see it from his position.
“This is purely for practical reasons,” he said, like there was anything in his life he’d done out of practicality. And like he didn’t have an arm around Hal’s shoulders, curling him close.
“Sure, pull the other one,” Hal said, “It’s got an alternate reality where we somehow managed to only ever fuck once on it.”
“The regret gets stronger every time you open your mouth.”
“As if.” To prove his point, Hal gave him a lazy grope. “Did you share those regrets with your-”
“Shh,” Bruce interrupted. He removed Hal’s hand, though not with any particular degree of firmness.
The truth of the matter was that Bruce was not in the habit of lying to himself - he was firmly of the belief that that particular habit, more than any other, got one killed. And perhaps the best he could expect was dying in a manner of his own choosing, but if he got to pick, being surprised by something he’d willfully ignored was not the way he would go.
He’d known since that night that it was never something that he’d do just the once. Case in point: Hal Jordan wouldn’t let it happen that easily.
He’d also known that it was a problem. A personal problem. One that didn’t start or end in the bedroom. That had also proven true.
In the quiet, Hal had settled. His breath was warm on the skin over Bruce’s heart.
“You feel so good,” he mumbled. “How do you always feel so good?”
Bruce had been wondering the same thing. He just held back tighter.

Danny, established gremlin little brother finally gets to be the big sibling. Imagine if he embraces the role? Knows full well the shenanigans a little brother with powers can get up to. Clark will have someone who can pull him down from the ceiling before he starts gnawing at the crown molding (again) because he's teething. (you start losing teeth around 6-7 and with Clarks abilities it might feel itchy coming out) If this is an early reveal gone wrong, Danny and Clark can learn both their powers as they come. Field left to sit for a season is a perfect place for them to try things that might disrupt the landscape. I bet it cuts way down on accidents because Danny is far more durable than Ma and Pa. A super powered hug can crack a rib if you aren't prepared after all. (basing this on the powers showing up early, some media didn't have it happening until he was a teenager. In this house canon is defenestrated on the regular anyways so buff baby it is) Plus Danny can rat out his baby brother when he's keeping things to himself. Like headaches from his sensitive hearing or the x-ray peeking at the Christmas presents.
You know what else this could mean? Danny gets a fresh start. He'd have an adjustment period for school (hand wavy reasons about why no student records) because if the Kents mention he's a distant cousin and there wasn't anyone else to take him in due to tragedy, he'd need a bit to figure out the curriculum. He could get a clean slate grade wise, he could have grades good enough to pass high school. Pre Portal, he was a fairly good student. Maybe not enough for a college scholarship, but enough for him to slowly learn pride in himself again. And with a little brother looking up at him because he helped him hold a pencil without breaking so he could do his kindergarten vocabulary? That would feel pretty good. Worlds away from where he was with a Ma and Pa (not Mom and Dad, not anymore) who are proud to see Danny bringing home those passing grades, not comparing them to his sisters better ones. Maybe they both move to Metropolis, the Kents would probably feel better knowing their boys had each other in a big city. And twice the income means they can be a little more secure in where they move (Danny likely had a nest egg, can't see him not working after graduation and even farm hands get paid. Not a lot but enough they could cover security deposit and rent for a bit until they got jobs). Danny may not like that his baby brother is wearing his underwear on the outside for a whole city to see (sorry Ma, but really odd choice in design there), but at least he can help cover his tracks. He's older now and can come up with better excuses other than bathroom breaks at least. Maybe, depends on if Clark finished the last of the coffee this morning without staring a new pot. He is still a little brother at heart.
After a reveal gone wrong, Danny takes the spectre speeder and just leaves, not knowing that a stray shot from his parents had damaged it. Unable to control the ship, Danny finds himself getting sucked into a natural portal and losing consciousness.
The Kents hear a boom from the fields and go out to investigate. What they find is a scene very reminiscent of 5 years ago.

Present Day: Clark helps 8-year-old Jon deal with his sudden development of powers similar to his father’s.
Commentary:
Superman’s origin is so iconic that Grant Morrison summed it up in just eight words: “Doomed planet. Desperate scientists. Last hope. Kindly couple.” In light of this, I see no reason to mess with a good thing. That being said, the story of Superman’s public debut has been retold with major differences four or five times now between the various Crises, and that makes things tricky to pin down.
The version I ended up writing is mostly inspired by Superman: Birthright by Mark Waid. (Sorry, anyone who’s a fan of Clark as Superboy. While I don’t hate the concept, it raises the question of “why doesn’t anyone associate Superboy and thus Superman with Clark?” it doesn’t really bring anything valuable to the table that can’t be put elsewhere in the timeline: the Legion is more associated with Supergirl in this timeline, and Krypto is moved to later on.) His post-Crisis history is mostly intact, although with a few notable omissions, mainly Superman Blue. I hope nobody will miss that too much.
Superman’s history sets the timeline for the rest of the universe - while other heroes’ origins occur before his public debut, he’s the first of the major figures of the Age of Heroes to debut, twenty years prior to the present day. The rest of the Trinity follows within a year of his appearance, along with most of the iconic Silver Age DC heroes. This Superman is forty-five years of age at the current point in the timeline: a seasoned superhero who has saved the world time and time again, but who also lives a simple life as a family man with Lois and Jon.
He may be a Kryptonian by genetics, but at his core, thanks to his upbringing from Ma and Pa Kent, he’s a human - one who happens to have to balance his extraordinary powers and responsibility to the world (wait, is this Spider-Man all of a sudden?) with his alien heritage and the complications derived from such. He’s a champion of the oppressed, standing up for the “little guy” and those who can’t defend themselves against powers both great and small. Out of the Trinity, he best embodies hope - when the situation seems at its most dire, Superman’s the one to keep the faith and rally for one last push. He’s the hero who lands on a rooftop beside someone who’s about to jump and just sits beside them while they make their decision.
As for Superman’s costume, he’s currently sporting the Reborn look, sans trunks. I’m not saying the trunks are outright bad or silly, and envision them as being part of his original costume for certain, but the costume in the header is what he currently uses in this universe.
Have any questions about Superman or anything else? My asks are open!

RP Headcanons: DC Edition, pt 1
Batfam
Bruce cares, tries, and fails, but generally keeps trying for his kids.
Baby Terry McGinnis is the cutest thing ever and his dinosaur t-shirts reinforce this.
Slade Wilson - terrible person, great assassin, loving (if strict) parent.
Dick and Bruce fight constantly! Once Dick gets mad about something, everything makes him more angry until he and Bruce eventually resolve the first problem. It's sometimes big stuff... sometimes really petty shit.
Steph loves waffles. She will trade Tim for a 4-stack with chocolate chips.
Everybody wants to pair with Bruce on Gotham patrols. He gets the best fights and he brings snacks in the belt - it's a 50/50 if it's protein bars or trail mix, though.
Nobody wants to pair with Bruce on Gotham patrols. He won't let you make Social Media posts or stop for a hotdog at Rico's corner stand.
Jason and Dick actually fight a lot, still. Jason knows how to push Dick's buttons and he uses that as a self-defense tactic when he doesn't want to talk. ("Get Dick mad and he won't ask if I'm okay!")
Cass loved Steph before Steph loved Cass. Stephanie figured it out... eventually.
Lucius Fox only helps with the really weird shit because Bruce trades him Alfred's secret holiday recipes sometimes. Alfred's recipes are the true treasures of Earth.
Duke does his best not to get swept up in the weird, wild lives of his batsiblings tbh.
Tim doesn't babysit, he gets babysat.
Ace is the Good Boy™ but he will try and take Krypto down.
Titus is trained, we swear, but he's goofier than a ferret on drugs sometimes. 10/10 derp.
Sometimes Dami gives Batcow walks through the garden to help her relax.
Every Batfam member will stab the other for the last piece of Ma Kent's apple pie. Even Alfred.
Superfam
90s Kon and YJ Kon both deserve to exist. What better combo than the Insta-famous, outgoing showboat and the blunt, introverted buffbaby?
YJ Kon is way more of a "Conner" than 90s Kon. 90s Con is now "Carter."
Carter + Tim = Flashy Disaster Couple
Conner likes Wally's freckles.
Ma and Pa Kent accept any and all grandkids, time-travel or dimension-hopping be damned because "They're our boys, now, Clark, of course we want to see them!", and there are family trips to the farm.
Clark will bribe his friends and teammates with his mother's cooking. He can't bribe with his own, though, because he's terrible at it.
Jon would happily fly to Gotham for dinner before eating what his father burned made for them.
Krypto would probably go, too.
Clark doesn't know what to do with all of his sons but at least they aren't like his cousins.
"It's not about whether the boob window would look good or not, guys! It isn't happening!" is still something he's had to say before, though, and Clark's mildly ashamed of it.
With three superboys up to bat, the real issue is that none of them want to share the name. Jon had it first and that's fine with his brothers, really. Conner looks and feels like practically an adult, so he's meh about it. Carter wants something catchier to say. The result? Superboy, Kon and Rao.
Jor-El had a conniption when Carter named himself "Rao" as a hero. "You named yourself after OUR GOD?!? You disrespectful little-!"
Lex thought it was hilarious.
The boys are constantly in the background of Carter's posts and there's a few Insta vids of Lex trying and failing to hide that he's mildly amused by his son's shenanigans.
Flashfam
Barry is face-blind (has prosopagnosia). He can gradually memorize specific elements of a person's face ("Uh... Ollie's hair is like mine, right? So he's blond! And I know he has facial hair.") but has trouble associating them together unless he's had long periods of exposure to the person.
Wally is a nervous bundle of anxiety. All of the time.
Barry is practically incapable of looking on the dark side of things, and tends to believe the best of people - this extends to his villains.
Cisco is his bro, Caitlin is like the ditzy aunt, and Harrison is the exasperated father-figure that just wishes his kids didn't drink so much coffee.
Speaking of coffee - Barry doesn't drink it on the job. It makes him antsy.
Captain Boomerang - Digger, to his friends - is always on the edge of getting out of the game. Raising Owen ("Little Diggs") is a higher priority than his Rogues work. He waivers between retirement and always that "last" job that'll set him up to take care of his son.
Little Diggs is too pure for this world, and a fan of Flash even though he knows his father is a villain.
Wally isn't as forgiving with the Rogues as Barry is. This is especially true for Heatwave, Glider and Cold, since they've all double-crossed the Flash before.
Cold isn't fond of Kid Flash. Barry earns his respect and, in some ways, his admiration - this doesn't extend to Flash's smartassed sidekick.
Lisa and Mick are a surprisingly functional duo despite their dysfunctional dynamic. Lisa is generally in charge in their relationship, and Mick knows Len would ice him if he ever raised a hand to Lisa.
Len and Mick are best friends, despite the friction from their clashing personalities.
Lisa keeps pushing Len to either date or pick a favorite hooker - anything to get him laid and chilled out for once.
Len is practically addicted to puns. Not even just cold- or ice-related puns, either! He will make puns out of anything when given an opportunity, and genuinely is amused by them.
Arrowfam
Oliver is never in control of his daily life. He's barely in control of his personal choices most of the time.
Felicity runs it all - the team, the company, organizing his assignments from the League... everything other than doing the hard stuff herself.
Ollie really is a capable hero, but he doesn't believe it. He also doesn't particularly believe that the League needs or wants him there, but couldn't tell you why exactly they keep him, then, if questioned about it.
Roy has totally given up the flash and mystique of heroism tbh. Trucker hat? Check. Bow, arrows, and backup guns? Check. Flip-flops? All the better to chase people with. The slapslapslap of justice will strike terror in the hearts of muggers everywhere.
Oliver spoils Lian relentlessly.
Artemis is glad to avoid the weird shit that Roy and his clones get up to when Ollie isn't paying attention. She's never been more thankful that she isn't one of the adopted sidekicks.
Jim: Big, friendly, easily guilt-tripped, the pretty one.
Will: Mature, down-to-earth, does the guilt-tripping, the mom/dad friend.
Roy: Trash, amger!!!, can't be guilt-tripped but can be blackmailed, has no clue what he wants in life yet.
Lian will either murder you in your sleep or you are now a member of her family. There is no in-between.
No pets. Ever. They will get shot with an arrow by accident and nobody in the house is willing to deal with that emotional burden.
Oliver wants exactly 0 people in the "Arrowfam" but will kill you and/or himself over losing any member of his Arrowfam.

“I could break you” - Conner Kent x Batsis!Reader (Erotica)
Well. I recently binge watched (again) Young Justice (the trailer for season 3 hyped me too much), and remembered how much I fucking love Conner Kent. Like if we forget about the Batfam, he’s definitely my favorite DC character (I mean, if we also forget about Constantine I guess). And I...just...had to write something with him. And I also felt like writing smut so...Yup. Hope you’ll like it !
IMPORTANT WARNING : THIS IS EROTICA ! THIS IS NOT FOR YOU IF YOU ARE UNDERAGED, I GODDAMN MEAN IT. Like there’s cute and sweet feelings in the mix, but also...smut, so if you’re not 18 or more, or if you’re not comfortable with that sort of things etc etc, this story ain’t for you. I have tons of other very SFW story, for averyone to read, and if you wanna check those out instead, it’s right here, on My masterlist blog : @ella-ravenwood-archives.

                                            ************
Conner was nervous.
He had no reasons to really, it was even quite stupid for him to stress so much about something so dumb and normal.
And yet, here he was, at the kitchen table in his parents’ house (most of the time, he lived at the Young Justice’s headquarters, where he had his own little enclosed apartment, but it was vacation time for everyone so...he came to visit his family), barely touching his breakfast while he usually ate six eggs, countless hashbrowns and so oh so much bacon...
It’s his mom who noticed. Of course it is. His brother and father were to busy eating to see anything else but their plate.
Lois turns to her oldest boy (that she came to consider her son not so long ago to be honest, when Clark finally came to closure with the fact that he had to be there for him...well, “not so long ago”, quite a few years now, nearly ten in fact, Jon was tiny when Conner really came into her life) and says :
-Are you OK Conner ?
And by the way he jumped in the air, she knew she was right. Something was wrong, and she was gonna get it out of him.
Conner turns to his mom, as if she just slapped him, utterly surprised she noticed something (even if it was very obvious) and shakes his head :
-Yes. Yes, I’m fine. I was just...thinking.
Lois gives him that mom look that means : “And you think I’m going to buy that ?”, and doesn’t even have to say more for Conner to continue :
-Ok it’s just...I wanted to ask you something but I don’t know if...I mean...
Lois elbows her husband, who was still too engrossed with his food to realize anything, and gives him that typical wife look that he could translate by : “Pay attention to what is happening, it’s important...also you have a piece of egg on your chin” (yes, it’s a very specific look).
Clark reluctantly tears away from his food (which is made even more difficult as he hears his youngest son chewing loudly his delicious breakfast..) and raises his head, looking simultaneously at his wife then at his boy (who wasn’t really a boy anymore). ...Of course, he has no idea what’s going on, but he acts like he does, imitating his wife’s thoughtful facial expression.
Lois says :
-Conner, you know you can ask us anything right ?
Oh. Ok there’s something the boy wants to ask but he hesitates too. Alright. Dad Clark is up to date. He confirms what his wife just said :
-Yes. Yes of course you can ask us anything.
Conner looks between his mother and father, and their gentle expression calms him a little bit. With a weak voice that is very unlike him, he says :
-It’s about (Y/N).
Lois and Clark exchange a look, and his mom says :
-You can ask us anything, of course. But if it regards certain...Matters, maybe you should talk about it with your friends ? Or with your dad. Just with him.
For a few seconds, Conner is confused.
What is she on about ?
...Until he realizes his mom misunderstood him, and his face turns utterly red.
He can’t believe she thought he wanted to ask something about...that ! As if he was gonna discuss with his parents about what happens with his girlfriend !!
Blushing more and more at the thought, Conner blurts out :
-I’m not gonna ask you anything about...that ! Especially not in front of Jon ! It’s not...I wasn’t...What happens between her and I...Stays between her and I and...wasn’t...I wasn’t...far from it...it’s not...
Happy she misunderstood her son’s nervousness, Lois chuckles a bit as she witnesses her twenty something boy getting all awkward and embarrassed and not knowing what to say.
It’s always a treat for her, when her powerful family members mumble and ramble out of embarrassment, it makes them feel more...humans and flawed.
In that moment, Clark has some terrible flashbacks of teenaged him and this almost exact scene happening with his ma and pa, and therefor, he rushes to his son’s aid and says :
-Ok moving on. Then what do you want to ask ?
Conner takes a few second to regain his countenance, and after mumbling some more about “intimate topics not being a subject of conversation with parents” he shakes his head and finally says :
-I just...Well here we go.
Conner takes a deep breath and quickly says :
-I want to take (Y/N) to a special place, only I...Well...Could I borrow your car please ? I still don’t have one and I want to pick her up for once. She always come to get me...And her dad really doesn’t like when I fly to the mansion, he’s super paranoid about their secret identities - to that comment, Clark raises his eyebrows as if to say “yeah no kidding ?” but lets his son finish - and my motorcycle needs repairs and...I just want to pick her up for once. Trying to be romantic you know ? So...Could I borrow your car ?
There’s a small silence. Lois tries to muffle her “aaawww” because she thinks her son is utterly cute, and meanwhile, Clark answers :
-That’s it ? You want to borrow the car ? Of course you can boy ! Go ahead !
Conner’s face light up, and once against, Lois has to restrain herself from embarrassing him by cooing at him as if he was a baby, but he was genuinely so cute ! She just wanted to pinch his cheek and shower him with kisses.
-Where are you going to take her ?
Clark asks, giving his wife the perfect diversion to go and fetch more eggs and Hashbrown for Jon, and therefor hiding her urge to treat her twenty six year old son like if he was a toddler.
-Oh I wanna take her to one of the field at the outskirt of Smallville, a bit further than grandma’s house. She never saw the Milky Way, living in Gotham and all. So we’re going to go stargazing.
Lois makes a strangle noise from the kitchen (her boy was just so sweet !) and Clark and Conner looks at her, a bit worried.
-You ok mom ?
Conner asks, and she comes back sitting next to him, ruffling his hair.
-Yes I am. You’re just...too sweet. (Y/N) is a lucky girl.
Conner blushes a bit, still having trouble accepting compliments...But his mom’s next few words make him blush even more :
-Though...Stargazing. Just the two of you. Hum...Don’t forget to bring protection.
-AAAAH MOOOOOM !!
Conner exclaims, as red as a tomato. Clark acts as if he didn’t hear anything and goes back to his breakfast and...Jon finally lifts his head up, saying :
-Mom’s right. Bring protection. You never know if an asteroid or something is gonna fall on ya while you stargaze ! Also, are you gonna finish your plate ?
Clark and Lois burst out in laughter in front of a very confused Jon, and a Conner who wanted to crawl into a hole and disappear...Blushing more than ever, he hands his plate to his little brother and leaves the table, as his parents still laugh like crazy.
Snatching their car key, he rushes outside and curses a bit more because why did they have to laugh so much ?!
Damn them.
************
When you received Conner’s text, the least you could say is that you were utterly surprised.
It was very rare, that he would come p...Wait.
Actually, it was the first time he came to pick you up by car.
Usually, you’d meat at Mount Justice, or he would fly to your house (which your dad hated) and then you’d use one of your car (being a Wayne had its perks) to go out.
He used his motorcycle a few time, but again, you having one too, you’d just meet somewhere and then go on a road trip or something...
Yes. It was the first time he actually drove from Metropolis to Wayne Manor to come and pick you up for a date. It was...somewhat exciting.
You didn’t know why, but there was something about him coming to get you that was just...feeling really nice.
You were looking outside from one of the first floor window when you finally heard the bell from the gigantic portal at the entrance of the estate.
You rushed downstairs to go open, but of course Alfred was there first...And so were the rest of your family.
-What are you guys doing ?
Your words startle all of them and they turn around a bit panicked, as if you just caught them redhanded while doing something illegal. Your father speaks first :
-Nothing.
He says, in the most unconvincing tone ever.
You crease your eyebrows at him and say :
-You weren’t expecting to see him before I came down, were you ? Because that would be a ridiculously stupid plan.  And I think he heart enough of your threat already.
Jason, who was visiting that day, said a falsely innocent :
-Nooooooo. Of course not. We would NE-VER.
You glare at them a bit, and gesture for them to get away from the door. They obediently go out of your way and you go to open the front door, almost snarling at them.
-Don’t you have better things to do anyway ?
You ask them a bit coldly, while Alfred rolls his eyes and Dick gives you an apologetic look. They look away, as if they were down there by pure coincidence.
You turn towards the outdoor.
A car is slowly going up the path to the entrance door.
It’s a pick-up truck.
Of course it’s a pick-up truck, it’s probably Clark’s.
And it’s...oh my gods.
-Wait...Red and blue...jeez, can you be more obvious ?
Your father, who went out too and was now next to you, rolls his eyes and says :
-Eh it’s Clark we’re talking about, not really the most...You know. His way of hiding his secret identity is by putting some glasses on...
You chuckle a bit, knowing indeed exactly what he means. And you forget to tell him to go back inside and leave you and Conner alone.
The car stops in front of the stairs and Conner gets out of it. He awkwardly straightens himself up and slowly walks up the stairs.
His eyes cross your father’s and he holds his gaze defiantly but then...
then he sees you.
A wide smile spreads across his face :
-Hey you.
He says a bit dumbly (he always felt so light hearted around you).
-Hi.
You answer with the same lovey dovey tone. He continues, giving you his hand :
-Shall we go ?
You’re about to answer when your father (now joined by the rest of your family) says, his voice cold and low, menacing :
-Go where, exactly ?
You slowly turn to him, and oh it’s utterly scary, the look you give him...you’re definitely taking that glare after him. With slow detached words you say, the anger felt in every syllables :
-I am twenty, dad. It’s none of your business where I go.
He looks at you and is about to answer, probably ready to say something stupid that every parents say like : “As long as you live under my roof, you follow my rules” or something (as if that ever happened anyway...after all, you were also taking a lot ater your mother, Catwoman), but this time, you’re the one cutting him off.
You ignore him completely and turn to Conner :
-I’m coming back babe - it’s utterly satisfying, how your dad winces at the pet name you give your boyfriend-,  forgot my backpack upstairs.
You start to leave but stop before reaching the door. You turn around and glare some more at your brothers and dad before saying :
-You guys. In. Right now. Except you Dick, you can talk with Conner if you wanna, you’re the only one that isn’t annoying here. The others, inside the house. Actually, follow me, so I’m sure you’re not planning anything sneaky.
They’re about to protest, but oh the look you give them...And so they follow you to your bedroom. With a sigh you tell them :
-I thought we were over the all “watching your every move whenever you’re with your boyfriend” phase ?
Your father looks at you very seriously and says :
-I never agreed to that.
-You did when you said you’d stop trying to break us up. Still think it’s a huge asshole move by the way, not sure I forgave you yet (in this story : “They’re kind of assholes”).
Your dad grumbles an answer and turns to your brothers for support.
But they all look away...It was hard for them to let go, but they had to admit that you were old enough to make your own decisions and all...And Conner was a good guy, they really weren’t being fair.
Besides, they still actually felt bad about trying to break the two of you up (well, maybe Damian and your dad didn’t much).
You roll your eyes and give them each a small slap on the back of their head.
-I know what I’m doing. Trust me.
Jason snorts and says :
-Oh we trust you. Him on the other hand...
There’s a small silence and you sigh once again...Only one solution left for them to let go. You look at them and gather the famous Wayne smirk before saying :
-Jay, I’m twenty. If you think Conner is my first you’re gravely mistaken and I...
Tim interjects :
-WOW ! STOP ! DO NOT WANT TO KNOW THOSE INFOS ABOUT MY SISTER !! RED ALERT ! RED ALLEEERT !!
Your father looks at you, shocked (he had to realize, one day or another, you weren’t a child anymore), Jason froze and seemed to have crashed as if he was a computer, Damian has a murderous look in his eyes but is still too stunned to move....and you smirk as you leave your room.
Yup. Here’s a sure way to shut them up.
They all stand in your room, stunned, as you go back down and yell to them :
-See y’all tomorrow !
After a while, they finally de-froze. And your youngest brother says :
-Did she say she’d come back tomorrow ?!
His voice is full of worries, as he turns to your father who just manages to say :
-...Did she just say “y’all” ?
Oh God. The Kent were starting to influence you too much...
You were already far away when they finally decided to move out of your room, your father sighing nostagically a bit at the sight of a picture of you and him when you were barely four...
************
When you went down the stairs, you found Conner red as a tomato, discussing with Dick. You instantly narrowed your eyes at your brother and said :
-Oh, not you too Dickie ?!
Your oldest brother turned to you and smiled widely, of a joyful and innocent smile :
-What ? Can’t give advices to a friend ? And can’t threaten my sister’s boyfriend to kill him if he hurts her ?
Unsure of wether he’s kidding or not, you just stare at him and slowly takes Conner’s hand. You two get back to the car, and you ask him :
-What did he say to you exactly ?
-Nothing !
Conner’s answer is too rushed for you to believe him...but you don’t feel like getting the truth out of him. Nope. You just want to enjoy your day.
You watch your oldest brother wave at you as you leave, a way too satisfied smile on his face...
************
The drive is oh so pleasant.
You talk about anything and nothing, and sometimes, you just stay silent, enjoying each others’ presence. Listening to your favorite song (getting a bit too turned up when “Africa” by Toto gets on...).
At some point, you decide to lay your head on his shoulder, and put your hand on his thigh and Conner can’t help but smile stupidly. Your mere presence always made him feel so jolly, so relaxed...
Finally, you arrive where he wanted to take you.
It’s a beautiful field in the middle of nowhere, near a forrest. You can hear water a bit further, lost in the trees, probably a river of some sort.
There, you start by having a picnic.
Conner prepared some sandwiches and it’s just so romantic and cute ! And oh it’s been so long since he had the occasion to be romantic and cute with you...
You wipe a bit of mayo that got on the corner of his mouth and...before you know it, your lips are on his, and you’re straddling him while furiously making out, his tongue licking at yours.
It almost turns to more but...as usual he pulls away.
This time, he tells you you two should go to the river, to cool down a little on this hot summer day (both figuratively and literally). He didn’t want you to have a heatstroke or something...
And you get a little bit frustrated.
You know you shouldn’t be. But it’s always like this...You spend more than one night with him, at Mount Justice, but things never went further than passionate making-out and sometimes, oral.
Granted, he was amazing at eating you out and more than once he snuck in your bedroom at the mansion, and devoured you while you were trying to be silent so your family wouldn’t hear you.
And given his reactions, you knew you gave good blowjobs too but...Whenever it was time for more, for the “ultimate act of love” (your mom called it that...you didn’t even know why you picked her expression up, it was so stupid and cheesy) he stopped (even if clearly reluctant to).
And you knew why.
It wasn’t because he didn’t want to be with you like that, but because he was afraid to hurt you. And given the fact that he still couldn’t always control his powers properly...he could very well hurt you.
He almost did a few times when his cock was in your mouth so...he wasn’t about to risk injuring you badly.
But damn it was starting to get frustrating.
Especially even more since you knew he slept with M’gann before (which was fine, you had other boyfriends too, including a certain “Aqualad”).
Somehow, she convinced him he wouldn’t hurt her...or maybe he thought she could take it while you couldn’t ?
She wasn’t a “weak” human after all...
Little did you know that he just never thought that he could hurt her when they were together, while with you...just the thought of hurting you a tiny bit hurt his heart more than anything else.
You weren’t about to force him of course, but you would be lying if you didn’t have a hope that spending the night in a remote place just the two of you wouldn’t arouse a...certain mood.
But for now, all frustration disappears as you playfully throw some water at him, and he picks you up and throw you in the cold ass water...Not very delicately, but hey, you’re not really a delicate lady.
You emerge from the water, hair falling unsexily on your face, laughing your ass off as Conner joins you, and you both start playing as if you were little kids.
And it’s just so nice, to be far away from any responsibilities and vigilante stuffs...It has been a long time since you two had a sort of vacation.
Even longer since you managed to be just the two of you...there was usually always someone around.
So you take advantage of it, enjoying every single seconds in his arms, laughing, talking, yelling out of joy...
************
You don’t think you’ve been that happy ever in your life.
That relaxed.
It’s...so nice, to forget about all your stress, traumas and bad times.
To not worry about your father being reckless, or about one of your brothers getting hurt somehow. About having to arrest your mother because she stole yet another treasure or anything of the like...
You wish you could stay like that forever.
Far from all your troubles. Not that you didn’t love your family, hell, you would die for all of them but...It was so nice to be away from their antics for once.
It made you realize that, more often than note, you’d live for them...and Conner was your only escape.
Not that you would change your life. No. You couldn’t stay away from your beloved family for long...But from times to times, it was nice to not have them around you know ?
You felt a bit guilty having that thought, but then Conner wrapped his arms around you and you forgot about all of that, for once, thinking only about your own happiness.
Your boyfriend had brought some blanket and pillows to throw in the back of the truck, and you were both snuggled against each other, gazing at the stars.
That day had left you exhausted, as you did so many things (unfortunately, no actions you desperately wanted...ugh).
You knew Conner was completely fine, Hell, the man barely even needed to sleep...but you felt knackered, and kinda forgot about any prospect of possible sex.
You shift a bit next to him and groan out in pain.
Worried, Conner turns his head down to you and asks :
-What’s wrong ?
You shake your head slightly and say :
-It’s nothing really, I just had a rough night yesterday. Got hit a bit badly on the shoulders and back...It’s sore.
He looks at you thoughtfully as you close your eyes, not really making a big deal out of it (and it’s so frustrating to him, the way you never seem to care that much when you get hurt...).
His hand mindlessly drawing pattern on your back, he finally says :
-How about a massage ? I know they can be very relaxing...
You were slowly falling asleep and jumped a bit at the sound of his voice. You turn your head upward to meet his gaze and say, an eyebrow raised :
-Do you even know how to give a massage ?
-I’m no expert, but I believe I know enough. I read a few books about it. And...I know you’re stressed, and I thought I could help a bit.
You smile at him, oh if only he knew how relaxed he made you feel...You consider his offer however, and sit up, offering him a smile :
-Alright Kon, sure. That’d be nice. Thank you.
He nods, still smiling at you a little awkwardly, and you giggle. It’s not like you’ve never been intimate before...
His eyes widen as you take your top off as if nothing. He stares at your breast despite himself, and his adam’s apple visibly gulped.
You roll your eyes and say :
-What ? You wanna massage me through my clothes ? Seems a bit un-efficient. And come on, you already saw my boobs. Touched them more than once, fell asleep on them a few times.
You wink at him and he blushes slightly. He takes a sharp intake of air and says :
-Yes. Yes of course. I just...I...Nevermind.
You roll on your belly and he sits next to you. For some reasons, you couldn’t help but tense a bit, awaiting for him to touch you, as if afraid you were just having a pleasant dream...Finally, he lays his warm hands on your shoulders and begins to rub there. And it’s definitely real.
At first, he goes a little too gently, his thumbs rubbing the area where your neck joins your shoulders. As usual, he was afraid to hurt you...
But very soon however, he begins to gain confidence, pressing harder and using his whole hand. You sigh, relaxing in his touch.
-You know Conner, it might be easier if you, hum...if you sat on...you know...
You trail off, not entirely sure how to put this. “Straddling me” just sounded way too sexual and though you’ve been very intimate with him before, you don’t want to scare him away.
The massage felt just too good, and you were afraid that if you pushed him too much he’d be scared to hurt you again and pull away.
He understands your meaning however, and kneels over you, resting lightly on your thighs, almost on your rear, barely applying pressure there, and you know he’s holding up his weight.
-Is this ok ?
He asks nervously, again, afraid to hurt you...and touching you like that feels too nice, he doesn’t want to stop.
-Yeah. It’s good.
Conner’s hands continue to work down your back, with more skill than you had expected. He slowly works out the knots in your muscles, knots that have been there for years, and after a while of his careful attention, you can’t help but let a small moan escape.
He instantly stops :
-Oh please Conner, continue. When did you get so good at this ? Do you often massage people ?
You were so damn relaxed, you were pretty sure you could fall asleep like this. And you clearly didn’t realize the innuendos of your words.
Conner caught on it however...He gulps before answering :
-I...I don’t know. I didn’t realize I was any good at it. And you’re the first one I do that to...
His voice sounds strange, almost strained. You frown, shifting slightly beneath him, and hears your boyfriend’s breathing stutter.
And then, for the first time, you notice it : the slight bulge pressing against your ass.
Conner is hard. Oh so damn hard.
Your heart jumps, and you can’t help the warm jolt of arousal low in your stomach. Should you say something? Ignore it ?
You hear Conner take a deep breath, continuing his ministration to your back, trying to ignore the sensation, and you grin into the pillow.
-You ok, Kon ?
You ask innocently, knowing damn well what you were doing.
-Yes, I… I’m fine.
He responds, his voice gruffer than usual.
-You sure ?
You ask again cheekily, wriggling your ass slightly against him. You were definitely not gonna let such an occasion pass without doing anything.
Conner grunts, taking his hands away from your back to rest them on the makeshift bed in the back of the truck, gripping the sheets.
-(Y/N)…
-Yeah ?
You ask in the most innocent voice you can muster, ignoring his warning tone and rubbing your ass against his growing erection.
-Mm, got a little problem there, babe ?
You hear him sigh deeply and he says :
-I thought you said you were tired.
-Mm. I don’t recall saying that...
You answer, knowing it’s a blatant lie as you told him you were tired barely a few minutes earlier.
With a little wriggling around you manage to roll over, taking in Conner’s flushed cheeks and his pupils blown wide in arousal.
-Can I ask you something ?
You say. Conner looks up and keeps his gaze fixed on the top of the truck above you, resolutely refusing to look at your exposed cleavage, afraid to get even harder.
-If you have too...
He murmurs. You take a deep breath and launch yourself :
-Are we going to beat around the bush for long ? Are we both going to ignore your dick pressing against my stomach ? Or like...Are we going to finally do something about it  ?
It seems like Conner wants to lift off of you, but he just can’t resolves himself to do so...There’s a small awkward silence.
Conner doesn’t reply, and you can feel your heart drop. Was he going to pull away once again ? Was he going to act as if nothing happened, and just go back to cuddling you ?
Instead, he finally meets your gaze.
And there’s something in his eyes you’ve never seen before. A lust he cannot hide anymore.
He leans down slowly until his still-clothed chest touches yours.
His face is so close, his breath warm on your lips.
And then, at last, he closes the distance. And for once, it seems like this make out session isn’t going to stop with just heated kisses...
His lips are chapped and rough against yours, but the kiss is gentle, tentative. As if he was afraid you’d break under him...
You reach up to place one hand on his back, the other behind his head, your fingers threading through his hair as Conner becomes more confident.
His lips move against yours, and you ache for more, pushing your tongue into his mouth. He gladly accepts it and his hands tighten in the sheets around your head.
Not even realizing it, he begins to rock his hips against yours, the bulge in his pants pressing right where you need it, and you moan into his mouth.
Conner suddenly breaks away, the two of you gasping, catching your breath. And for a moment you’re afraid he changed his mind again, and you clutch his shirt, as if you could stop him from pulling away if he really wanted to.
But he rests his forehead against yours, and you find yourself enraptured by his piercing blue eyes, unable to look away.
You tug at the bottom of his shirt before you even fully realised you're doing it, and Conner sits up, helping you pull the shirt off over his head without bothering with undoing the buttons of his flannel.
You reach up to run your hands down his muscular bare chest, brushing your thumbs over his nipples as they harden, and he closes his eyes, letting out a groan.
God, the things that noise did to you… you reach out impatiently for the button on his pants, unfastening it, your heart pounding.
-Conner...Conner, you’re ok with this, right ? Here ?
You ask, panting. Your warm breath makes your boyfriend shiver, and he nods, his hands brushing yours as he helps you pull off his pants.
-Yes. Are you ? And don’t worry, this field is abandoned, no one ever comes here...Especially not at night.
You laugh breathlessly, bucking your hips up against him. All he wore now was a pair of boxer briefs, his hard length visibly straining against the fabric.
-I’ve been waiting for this for a while now...We could do that in front of a crowd that I wouldn’t care right now.
With that confirmation, Conner tugs off your jeans in one swift yet delicate motion, and then he’s grinding against you again, your underwear the only thing separating you.
He captures your lips with his once more, and you whimper, torn between wanting this to last forever and wishing he would just get on with it...You waited long enough !
His lips begins to move from your mouth down your jaw, and further down your neck, peppering the skin there with soft open mouthed kisses as he massages your breast with one hand.
You tip your head back, infuriated with how slow and gentle he was being.
-Conner, bite me.
He pulls back, frowning, and stops. You’re afraid you pushed him a bit too much with your poor impulse control, but he says a curious :
-...What ?
You look at him straight in the eyes, and, mustering all the confidence you could, you say resolutly :
-My neck. Bite me. Get a little wild babe.
-If I do get a little wild, I could hurt you really bad...I could break you.
-So be it, then I would die feeling something.
You know you’re not being particularly nice, but you definitely hit him in his pride. He narrows his eyes at your mischievous smile and leans in again.
He tentatively nips at your neck and your moans encourages him to continue. Soon, he becomes a little rougher, leaving hot wet kisses down your neck, and you let out a shaky exhale.
And then the hand on your breast finally slides down your body, cupping your wet heat through your soaked panties.
You lift your hips up into the warmth of his hand, gasping as he begins to rub you through the fabric.
-Yeah Con - uh - just like that.
He continues to rub you and in a whisper says :
-You look beautiful like this.
And without further warning, he pushes your panties aside, his fingers finally coming in contact with your sex.
-So desperate for me to touch you. So wet for me...
He runs his fingers up and down your lower lips before slipping a finger inside you. And you don’t know what is taking your breath away more, his finger ruthlessly fucking you, or his sudden and very welcomed dirty talk.
You’re not even sure he does it on purpose, or if he just says whatever is on his mind out loud, lost in his passion...but his words and his finger pumping inside you will be the death of you.
And his teeth gently biting you there and there, leaving hickeys all over was a bit too much for you...a bit more harshly than you intended, you say :
-Boxers off. Now.
Desperate to see him, to touch him...
Conner quickly kicks off his underwear, finally freeing his dick, and you reach done, wrapping your fingers around his girth.
Your boyfriend moans as you run your thumb over the tip, collecting pre-cum and using it to slick your movements as you begin to pump up and down.
-(Y/N)...That...feels so good...
And you can’t help but smile fondly at him, as his eyes slowly half-close, and he’s coming undone at the pleasure you’re giving him.
With what looks like a great deal of effort, he pries your hand away, trapping it above your head.
-I...Need to be inside you.
He practically growls.
Finally, he pulls your panty down and over your ankles before slipping his finger back into your heat once more. This time, he finds your clit, circling it slowly and expertly, making you gasp and squirm under his touch.
-So beautiful. So perfect.
He murmurs, his hot breath right next to your ear.
-Yes...Oh Gods...Conner, don’t stop...
His fingers began to circle your clit a little faster now. And his hot voice resonates in your ear once more :
-Look at you, begging for me so prettily. I cannot wait to make you scream my name...You know, I know you spend nights, your hand between your legs, thinking about all the things I’d do to you...I know, because oh you have no idea the number of time I touched myself thinking about those exact same things. And we’ve always been on the same page you and I...always...
Fucking Hell. He was going to be the end of you.
Where did all that come from, all of a sudden ?!
But you knew. Oh you knew. All those pent up feelings were suddenly resurfacing and...to be honest, you always knew Conner probably had a thing for dirty talk. It was a hunch.
And oh you were right.
His fingers were alternating massaging your clit, and fucking you steadily, pimping in and out in a perfect pace. He knew you well...After all, he did already finger you but tonight ? Oh tonight every thing felt a hundred percent more vivid, everything was different.
Because tonight, you’d go beyond pleasuring each other manually or orally. Tonight, you were finally going to become one...
-I know you thought about me inside you many times. I know...Whispering my name as you came, pleasuring yourself. But there’s no need to whisper anymore my love. Come on. Come on (Y/N), scream my name, go ahead, it’s finally happening, I cannot stop anymore.
-Conner ! CONNER ! Oh God Conner !
You cry out, heat clenching in your stomach, your thighs tensing. He gives you a mischievous smile and says with a sexy voice :
-Good girl. Come for me (Y/N), come for me.
At those words, you were gone. You think you called out his name as you came, but you’re not sure. Hips bucking, writhing on the makeshift bed, arching your back.
Conner’s fingers ease you through your orgasm, moving away from your clit as it became almost painfully sensitive, but still rubbing your folds as you finally flop back down...
-Conner, that was...wow. I mean. We already did that before but...what’s gotten into you ? Where does...all that come from ?
Your boyfriend grins boyishly, his fingers still rubbing you gently, and you spread your legs a little further. He says :
-I don’t really know...You drive me crazy I guess ? All your teasing today...I just can’t hold it anymore.
-Teasing ? I so didn’t tease you. You did, with your touches and kisses and all !
-Let’s just say then that it’s a tie ?
-Yet you’re the one that is still teasing right now Conner...I need more.
And you can see it in his eyes, the sudden surge of doubt. He looks away a bit, still unsure...Maybe getting orgasms out of you by finger fucking you was enough ? Maybe you didn’t actually needed more ? But oh the look in your eyes...
He can’t do that to you.
He’s not sure what it is, exactly, he cannot do. Not making love to you ? Or risking badly hurting you by doing it ?
He pulls away slightly and you grab his arm.
-Don’t you dare.
You tell him threateningly, but he...He’s too afraid to break you in half. And though he’s still painfully hard, he pulls away, his warmth leaving making you shiver, and he sits up, back against the the cabin of the truck.
You sigh and roll on your back...So what now ? A handjob or blowjob and everyone to bed ? But oh you ached so bad for more ! To feel him inside you, pushing in and out...and you know he wants too as well !
But he’s scared to hurt you and...Wait. He’s scared to hurt you ?
So what if...What if you’re the one that move ?
You sit up too and look at him. And the dilemma in his eyes almost hurt your heart...You know he wants you, but his fear of hurting you is too grand.
You shake your head and reach in your backpack. You came prepared. Just in case...And you did right.
You take out a condom, and Conner’s eyes widen.
-(Y/N) I can’t risk...
Your fingers on his lips instantly shut him up. And despite himself, he finds himself softly kissing them...He looks at you as you roll the condom on his length, twitching under your touch, and you gaze back at him.
-If you’re so afraid, then let me.
He wants to stop you, but it seems he cannot move anymore. BEcause he wants this. Oh he wants this so bad.
And you do too..
It feels like he cannot breathe anymore as you sink down his cock. Slowly, oh painfully slowly.
Your hands go to rest against his chest, and his cover yours so perfectly, as if they were molded to do so...He squeezes your hands lightly, tenderly, encouraging you to go slowly as you take all of him inside you.
Finally, he’s all the way in, and he gasps in pleasure.
You go to rest your forehead on the crook of his neck, breathing heavily, and for a few seconds, he’s afraid he’s too much for you, and he thinks about pulling you off of him but...Then you raise your hips slowly, wrapping your arms around his shoulders, and you go down again, a bit faster than before.
You do that a few time, up and down slowly, getting used to his size...your breathing mixing together, heavy and passionate.
His lips find yours, as you fuck yourself onto him, and you share a sloppy yet loving kiss. He cannot help his arms wrapping around you, bringing you ever so closer.
Slowly but surely, you increase the pace, and soon enough, you’re both panting mess full of pleasure.
You rest your hands on his shoulder to help you get up and down faster, harder, and your voice snatches him out of this sort of transe he fell in :
-Move your hips, Conner.
At first, he doesn’t understand...But soon enough he raises his hips slowly to go meet yours and both your moans increase.
It becomes a bit violent, the sound of skin slapping skin filling the air...And Conner becomes self-aware that he might hurt you. But you grab his chin in between your fingers and fiercely says :
-Don’t you fucking dare stopping Conner, don’t you fucking dare. It feels too good for that !
And so he doesn’t stop. He’s not sure he could have had anyway even if he wanted too...You felt just too damn good. So good in fact, that he couldn’t utter a word, even if he wanted to tell you oh so many filthy thing. Another time, perhaps ?
But after a few moment, the rough night you had the day before catches on to you and you slow your pace at the worst moment possible, just as you were both reaching your highs...Worried, Conner asks :
-Are you ok ? Did I hurt you ? (Y/N) ?!
You shake your head “no”, and say weakly :
-It’s not that, it’s just...I’m sore from patrolling yesterday, I can’t keep up, even if I want to...
Your voice breaks a bit, sad that you’re ruining this moment you’ve been waiting for so long. And it breaks Conner’s heart to see you like that...delicately, he pulls out of you and switches you around.
You’re not riding him anymore, not straddling him, no...He’s now above you his hands on each side of your head. You instinctly wrap your arms and legs around him, and he sigh, content.
-You sure you’re ok to...Finish like this ?
You “tt” him in a very Damian way and say :
-Honey I’ve been ready to finish for a long time.
He chuckles but before re-entering you, he makes sure you’re ready to receive him in that angle, and slips two fingers inside you, scissoring them, massaging your walls, stretching you open once more.
And as you sigh, overwhelmed with pleasure, he presses the head of his dick against you, guiding himself back inside you.
You run your hands down his back to his ass, squeezing roughly, getting a grunt out of him as he pushes deep inside of you.
Still afraid to hurt you like this, now in total control...He moves slowly, giving you time to adjust again, and you find yourself relaxing completely as he kisses you again.
But now you’re wrapping your legs more insistantly around his waist, and he gets the message.
He draws his hips back before thrusting into you, deeply and slowly.  His hips rolling against yours, each movement drawn out and loving. You grab hold of his hair again, liking way too much his dishevelled head and the sweat running down his brow...You pull his head down, tilting yours to meet his lips.
-Faster.
You mumble against his mouth before he cuts you out, deepening the kiss. But his thrusts become faster at last, and you wrap yourself tighter around him as he rams into you with more strength, surprisingly finding the exact amount of power to make you scream with pleasure, without breaking your bones (quite literally).
He lets out a low groan, his face so close to yours that you can feel his warm breath...
-(Y/N)...
He moans again and again, and you find yourself echoing him with his own name. Until your entire body shake uncontrollably, and you tighten your wall around his dick, making him fall over the edge.
This time, the plea of your name is cut off by a low growl as he comes. His hips buck wildly, his arms trembling where he holds himself up, and you close your eyes, your hands running down his body, feeling his muscles tense and then relax as he is finally sated.
Slowly, he pulls out, collapsing beside you. You crawl closer, curling up in his arms and burying your head in your Superboy’s bare chest.
His voice, ragged and exhausted, resonates in the silent night :
-Did you..Did you enjoy that ? I didn’t hurt you did I ?
He asks, running his fingers through your hair carefully and tenderly.
You shift your head up to look at him, and you see his worried look towards you...You shake your head, a bit amused he couldn’t figure out he definitely didn’t hurt you, and say :
-That was amazing. You, were amazing.
-So, I did everything right ?
He checks again, a little nervously. It’s interesting how he didn’t really care about that when he was with M’gann...Proof enough their relationship wasn’t meant to be.
You lift yourself up on your elbow and bore your eyes into his icy blue ones :
-Conner, you were perfect. Trust me.
He sighs in relief, and kisses your hair. And the reality of what just happened dawned on him.
-I just made love to you.
He says, and you can’t help but chuckle, answering :
-Yup, that you did. And very well if I might say.
-And I didn’t hurt you.
-Nooope.
There’s a small silence, and he continues :
-So...We can do it again.
-Only if you want to.
-Fuck yeah I want to !
It’s rare to hear him swear and once again, you laugh, the sound of your laughter making his heart jump. He straightens up a little and smiles fondly at you, saying from the bottom of his heart :
-I love you (Y/N).
-I love you too Conner...
You both wrap yourself in warm blanket, and stay there for a while, not saying anything. Eventually, you both fall asleep, wishing that moment could last forever...

Best of DC: Week of June 19th, 2019
Best of this Week: Teen Titans #31 - Adam Glass, Bernard Chang, Marcelo Maiolo and Rob Leigh
Lobo came to bring the pain.
Starting off with a bang, Lobo completes a contract on a Dhorian at the behest of Kanjar Ro, blowing up the disguised alien’s bodega before shooting him right in the face for his cash. After completing the contract, he receives a job from The Other to take down the Teen Titans. After an initial rebuff of the job, his interest is piqued after he's shown an image of Crush, the only other living Czarnian. (not counting Twink Lobo that should still be trapped by Larfleeze)
Cutting back to the ending from the last issue, Lobo confirms that Crush indeed her daughter and proceeds to absolutely DESTROY the Titans. All of my love comes for this book comes from just how amazingly dominant Bernard Chang makes Lobo look and how terrifying Glass scripts him.
All of the Titans rush the Main Man with Roundhouse being the first to face his wrath. Lobo takes Roundhouse, who has taken the form of a ball, and uses him to BEAT THE OTHERS. He slaps Kid Flash with his best friend, he smacks Red Arrow upside her head, Robin dodges, but his cape is used against him as he’s crushed between Roundhouse and Lobo’s hands. Kid Flash tries to come back with a flurry of punches, but Lobo has none of it and decks the Kid in his face.
Djinn teleports him into Crush’s room and he sees her wall of pictures and articles about her dad. Djinn tries to bind him with magic, but he uses a mirror to turn it against her and just as he’s about to kill her, Crush saves her in the nick of time, suplexing him out of the Titan’s hideout. Lobo, unaffected, uses her as a basketball, throwing her into the backboard before using his hoop as a bat and hitting a home run with her as the ball. Throughout the carnage he has nothing but a smug grin, like he’s playing with these kids; because he is.
Lobo has killed a lot of things, including his own children, so killing the Titans would be nothing to him. At the very least, he’s jovial and having a fun time beating their asses. Chang draws him as being kinda relaxed and casual about his violence. He’s still rippling with muscle and almost appears to be showing off a little, it’s really charming in a sick way.
Catching up to Crush, he shows no restraint against her. He breaks her ankle to test if she has his healing factor, grabs her by the hair and smashes her into a train. The impact is hard and brutal with the train crumpling as Crush’s face kisses it. Back at the hideout, Djinn has the idea to loose Crush’s chain, Obelus, as it might be the only thing that can save her. Crush, however, is not a fan of the idea because the chain came from Lobo and may not obey her. In her anger, she crushes her communicator and LOBO CRUSHES HER WITH A TRAIN.
This splash page made me lose it. Lobo just leans on the train car as Crush is pinned underneath, reaching out in pain and the bottom is EXPLODING in a hail of debris and fire with a deep red and some blood spatter effect acting as the background to the insanity. Lobo taunts her, saying she was lucky that he wasn’t around to mess her up for all of her years, but that there was still time for him to let her down. The absolute CHAD hasn’t been in her life at all, comes back and IMMEDIATELY threatens to ruin it, absolutely. I can’t believe how callous and brutal it is.
Crush spits blood in his face and just as Lobo is about to deliver his coup de gras by smashing her head into a fine red past on the ground, Kid Flash swoops in and saves her, setting up Round 2 for the next issue.
This issue was absolutely insane thanks to The Main Man. Lobo just brings out the crazy in everything that he’s in and introduced the Titans to a WORLD OF PAIN. Crush was absolutely an overpowered member of the team because almost nothing could hurt her and to see her absolutely dominated like this was astounding. One thing that truly stood out was her anger when seeing Djinn in danger because of her, pun intended, crush on the young Genie. She had a burst of rage and actually slightly overpowered Lobo, but of course he continued the beating.
Lobo’s ferocity stood out in a way that we haven’t seen in any of his fights with Superman or his time in the Justice League of America. He wasn’t angry at all, but was having fun. While he could have swatted any of the kids into dust, he played with them, dragging out their pain. His fight with Crush was hard to read/watch at times with his banter. It was almost scary how ready he was to straight up murder her to keep his rep as the last Czarnian, (again, not counting the pretty boy) but at the same time he was weirdly fatherly in his own murderous way.
Honestly, this issue was just a ton of fun. I love Lobo and any chance that I get to see him act like a madman, I enjoy. Adam Glass wrote him so very well that it kind of feels like a callback to Giffen and DeMatteis’ series and Change makes him look like an imposing freak of nature that eats nothing but protein and drinks rage. Seeing Crush express even a little bit of fear was fun because all we’ve gotten out of her is anger and snark. I can’t wait for the next issue and her eventual win just to see what she’ll be capable of. High recommend.

Runner Up: Superman: Year One #1 - Frank Miller, John Romita Jr., Danny Miki, Alex Sinclair and John Workman
That's the approach visionary writer and sometimes crazy person, Frank Miller, took when writing the great, but flawed, Superman: Year One. The book is a masterwork on the slow burn that builds excitement and tension for a character that has all the potential to be exciting, especially as a young child.
Beginning with the destruction of Krypton from the toddler Kal-El's point of view, the boy is rocketed from his dying home. He watches as his parents get further and further away, engulfed by the fire and explosions of the dying Krypton, scared and alone until he reaches his new home; Earth.
TW: Attempted Sexual Assault
Slow and steady wins the race.
This presentation feels a lot more personal through his eyes. Though his inner monologue is a bit jarring for a toddler, it speaks volumes that he doesn't know what's happening. He's terrified that his parents are leaving him alone, that he may never see home again. His hands press against the glass in fear.
Pa Kent just happens to pass by, noticing the rocketship land with this strange child in it. The baby Kal exhibits a strange telepathic suggestion ability and makes Pa Kent think that taking him home is all his idea. Ma Kent is introduced as the ideal small town mother and the majority of this book expands on Kal-El's life in Smallville.
This comic acts as the absolute ideal in what Superman's life as a kid could have been. It's hokey in a way that the Kents are just simple farmers and the perfect parents with Clark learning the values of how to be a good person. He defends his nerd/outcast friends from bullies and gains the love from the always awesome Lana Lang.
The books flaws, however, are as awful as the entire thing is good. Things get a bit jarring as the bullies go from simple name calling and egging to physical violence and attempted rape after Lana takes pictures of their actions. If anything should have been cut, it should have been this gross depiction of near violence against a teenager.
This and the fact that there's no real comeuppance after the fact, aside from Clark just beating their asses, and leaves a bad taste in my mouth and the plot is dropped from there. It shifts to his relationship with Lana Lang after he reveals his powers to her and gradually makes up his mind about his future. In his late teens, instead of going to college or to Metropolis for his common origin of becoming a reporter, he decides to join the US Navy.
I am a little biased because his experience was much like my own from people questioning the decision, to telling my girlfriend at the time that I'd come back and what not and the teary goodbyes. Of course everyone who joins may have the same story. It just felt very personal to me and stood out as the most glaring change to how Clark Kent becomes Superman. I felt kinship and traumatic flashbacks when seeing John Romita Jrs. representation of RTC Great Lakes.
Speaking of the amazing artist, his art for the book is absolutely stellar. Capturing the vibe of the dry heat of the American Midwest, Romita Jr pulls you into every scene. The sense of scope is grand in space, it feels home-y in Smallville and the road to Illinois feels desolate and empty and yet full of hope and joy.
The line between adult and children's faces, however is very thin. Clark's faces run the gamut of emotions from joy, to surprise to near rage, but between each time jump, it's hard to tell just how old he actually is. Ma and Pa Kent age with the subtle graying of hair and maybe a few wrinkles, but Clark is forever having the face of his three year old self.
Despite covering ground that's been trodden millions of times, Frank Miller's found a way to inject a bit of interest into a familiar origin story. I love the new angle of Clark Kent becoming a Sailor and fighting for America, not exactly knowing what kind of person that it will change him into. Though I hope we get a more focused and less Crazy Frank Miller in the next issue. Attempted rape is disgusting as a simple storytelling device and depending on what kind of accounts he's gotten from Sailors on boot camp, things could go either way.
I am excited for the future of this series, however, and can't wait for the next one. High recommend!

Today we're tackling the most recent version of Superman's origin, as told in Superman Year One. Creative Team: Frank Miller, John Romita, Jr., Danny Miki, and Alex Sinclair. All-Star Summary: Doomed planet. Terrified parents. Last hope. Mesmerized farmer.
Key Elements: As the planet Krypton explodes, a scientist and his wife place their young son in a rocket and launch him into space. He lands on Earth and is found by Jonathan Kent, who brings him home to his wife Martha, and they adopt him. From the start, he has a dense body and superhuman abilities, and these grow as he gets older. He begins using his powers to punish bullies, but learns quickly that his actions sometimes have unintended consequences. When he saves Lana Lang from an attack, he reveals his powers to her and takes her for a flight. He uses his abilities to excel in sports, to Pa's dismay. He decides he needs to leave and see the world. Ma uses the super-durable blankets from his ship to make him a garment.
Interesting Deviations: Baby Kal is old enough to be standing and walking when he arrives on Earth. Jonathan Kent is alone when he finds Kal. It's heavily implied that Kal has some kind of psychic ability, and that he uses it to influence Jonathan to take him home. The Smallville High team is the Wolves here, which is an interesting choice. I don't think that one's been done before. They were the Crows on the "Smallville" TV series and the Spartans in "Man of Steel" as a nod to the director.
Additional Commentary: I know it's probably cliché to criticize Miller's overwrought narration, but it's laid on pretty thick here, switching from baby Kal's perspective to third-person narration of various degrees of omniscience on a page-by-page basis. Ma and Pa Kent talk like a very stereotypical, old-timey kind of farmer.
It's pretty clear that Frank Miller doesn't know what age high school freshmen are, since both the class and the kids are written as though they're in elementary school (when they're not being written as bizarrely anachronistic old men).
Later we see that Clark and Lana are conversant in Plato and Aristotle and Freud and Jung, none of whom are commonly read in high school courses. We know that Clark uses his abilities to speed-read, but it's Lana who brings up the topic. Also, I would have killed for a forty-five minute lunch period.
It's nice to see Clark being friends with a bunch of outcasts and misfits, though it would be nicer if Lana were part of the friend circle, since she's introduced as being somehow connected with Clark, but we don't actually see them interacting until considerably later, as a prelude to...well, to the unpleasantness that really didn't need to happen. I appreciate having thought balloons here, but it's a really strange lettering choice not to make them into the typical scalloped thought balloon shape. And this is John Workman on letters!
And all the sound effects in this comic look like this, which is...a choice, for sure.
Speaking of strange choices: green oatmeal?
It's also a strange choice for Clark Kent to be reading Doc Savage. I suppose there hasn't been a clear indication of when this story is taking place, but there's no time I'm aware of when both goths and 1930s pulp fiction were commonplace. It's one of many places where this book feels adrift in time, not contemporary enough to feel like a modern retelling, not classic enough to feel like a period piece. I could have done without Clark Kent peeing, but I guess this is a Black Label book, so. The bit of this that got the most pre-release controversy is the idea that Clark would join the military (here, the Navy). Jonathan is surprised that he's decided not to go to college, but Martha expresses quite reasonably a fear of his prodigious power being turned toward war. That's still contrasted with Clark's glee at seeing an F-35 flying overhead—complete with a "Look! Up in the sky!" caption—when he arrives on base.
The F-35 is an interesting choice to compare so directly with Superman, one originally intended to be the super-powerful champion of the oppressed, the other a bloated, ineffectual example of government waste and the military industrial complex run amok. As with the Superman in the military angle, it'll be interesting to see how much of this is intentional commentary and how much...isn't. As a bit of a final thought here, people were (justifiably) skeptical of this book before it was released. Frank Miller hasn't exactly had a great track record for the last (checks watch) eighteen years or so, and "the origin of Superman" is such well-worn territory that some chuckleheads have dedicated whole blog series to examining it. Heck, we just had a problematic dude writing a new, modernized exploration of Superman's origins four years ago. When the previews showed Clark joining the military, it's no surprise that there was some backlash. Awareness of the problems with the military—in how it's used, how its members are treated, and how it uses pop culture and superhero media as a recruitment tool—is at a high point in the last couple of decades, and people were uncertain how the guy who wrote Holy Terror was going to handle that relatively sensitive topic. And one issue in, we still don't really have an idea. There's a definite "recruitment commercial" feel to the last few pages of the book, but Martha's vocalization of a lot of fans' fears gives me some hope that it won't all be rah-rah jingoism. As to the rest of the book? I'm interested to see where it goes as a fan of the character, but there's just...not a lot here. From the writing to the art to the letters and coloring, everything about this book feels phoned in. Miller and Romita in particular feel like they're parodies of themselves, and if you'd told me that this was lettered by someone brand new to the industry and not the legend who put words to Simonson's Thor run, I'd believe you. For the "definitive origin of Superman," this just kind of...exists. What's interesting isn't new, and what's new isn't interesting.
The Rocket: We don't get a really clear glimpse of it, but what we see is nonsense.
Not only does it look like a knockoff of some landspeeder from The Phantom Menace, but it looks an awful lot like it should be large enough to hold more than a baby. It's implied that there's some kind of on-board AI teaching Clark along the way, as in "Superman: The Motion Picture," but the overwrought narration and constant perspective-shifts obscure whether that's intended to be the case. Not a fan. One exploding Krypton for this rocket.

A Life So Changed: Chapter Sixty-Two
Author: Lopithecus Pairing: Clark Kent/Bruce Wayne Rating: Explicit Word Count: 2875 Alternate: AO3, fanfiction.net Author's Note: I had fun writing this chapter. Ooh, I’m finally at the part of the story in which I can get excited to write for this fic again. Please enjoy!!
Bruce feels someone shaking him and he tries to open his eyes but the pain in his head, between his eyes, is too great. He reaches out blindly, the ringing in his ears deafening everything around him, and grips tightly onto the sleeve that is holding onto his shoulder. Bruce moves his mouth, tries to form words, but he can’t hear what he is saying and doesn’t know if he does anything more than groan in pain.
He doesn’t know how long they stay like that, seconds probably, but soon he hears a muffled cry, someone telling some one else to call 911. Bruce forms the words no and this time it gets out correctly. A hand comes to touch his hair, hold his head steady so he doesn’t knock it against the floor. “Bruce!” Clark’s voice finally breaks through the veil of the loud sound. “Bruce, we have to!”
“No,” he groans, the ringing starting to subside but the pain only intensifies. He feels his muscles tense, spasm, and then rest, the pain in his head radiating throughout his entire face. “Leslie.”
“What?” Clark asks, holding him steady.
“Bring me-” he trembles again, “to Leslie.”
“She’s all the way back in Gotham, Bruce! I’m not flying you all the way there when you’re like-” Bruce doesn’t let the Kryptonian finish his sentence.
“Damn it, Clark!” He squints open his eyes, peers up at Clark and then quickly closes his eyes again. The light hurts them. “Just do it!”
He hears ruffling, as if Clark is looking at his parents for guidance, before Bruce is gathered up in strong, warm arms. When Clark takes off, he feels weightless. He passes out again halfway there.
*~~~*
Bruce wakes in a dark room on top of a hospital bed. The place is run down, cracks going up the walls, and paint chipping in areas. He knows immediately he’s at Leslie’s practice in Crime Alley. He sits up slowly, the pain in his head completely gone. He looks over at the window, sees the slight shine of light, and determines it’s morning. He’s hooked up to an IV drip, fluids pumping into him. He has wires connecting to his stomach, travelling over to a monitor. Over in a corner, sitting in a chair with his head bowed and mouth open, is a sleeping Clark. Drool is dripping down his chin.
The door opens quietly and Leslie walks in. “You’re awake.”
Bruce nods, pressing a button to have the head of the bed move up, the hard mattress meeting his back softly. “I am.” He studies Leslie as the older woman walks up to him, clipboard in hand. She checks his fluid and vitals, one for him and one for Lara. She jots things down on the papers she had brought with her. As he observes this, he clears his throat. “What’s going on Lesie?”
Her lips thin and shoulders become tense. Leslie looks from him to the still sleeping Clark and then back to him, avoiding eye contact as she continues to write. “I’ll explain when Clark wakes up.”
“Leslie?” Leslie hesitates, probably hearing the concern in his voice. She finally looks up, through her eyelashes and glasses. “Is it serious?”
She blinks at him then gives him a small smile. Leslie reaches out, places a comforting hand on his knee. “We’ll talk more soon, Bruce. For now you rest.”
Leslie turns to leave and she makes it to the door before Bruce asks her something else, the worry building in his chest. “What did you give me for the pain?”
Leslie doesn’t turn back to answer, keeps her back to him. “Morphine.” Bruce’s heart spikes in alarm but before he can protest, Leslie continues. “Don’t worry, it shouldn’t hurt the baby if given the right amount.” She then walks out, leaving Bruce to stew in his anxiety.
Clark wakes up about twenty minutes later with a start, looking around wildly as if forgetting where he is, before his eyes land on Bruce. The Kryptonian is out of his seat in an instant and by Bruce’s side. “Bruce!” He takes Bruce’s hand, kisses the knuckles, and then leans forward to kiss Bruce’s forehead. “I was so worried. I didn’t know what to do. Ma and Pa have been texting me non-stop trying to get answers. They are really worried too, Bruce, believe it or not. I haven’t told the boys yet though, but Alfred knows. I don’t know if he told the boys. I’m not sure if he wants to worry them about it, especially if it turns out to be nothing. But what if it isn’t nothing, Bruce, what if it is-” Bruce holds up a hand to stop Clark from word vomiting any more.
He remembers the stricken look on Leslie’s face. “I’m sure everything will be fine.” Clark is frowning at him, worry lines between his eyes. “It was probably just some stupid migraine. I could feel it coming on all day.”
Clark is still frowning, leaning close, and still holding Bruce’s hand. He’s practically squishing it, bones protesting with ache. “I’m just glad you finally decided to let me bring you to Leslie.”
Bruce shrugs. “It seemed like the best thing at the time.” He rubs a hand down his face, groaning with exhaustion. “That’s the worst migraine I have ever had.”
Clark gives him a sympathetic smile, placing a hand on his bulging stomach. “Maybe Leslie will be able to give you something for them, something stronger than Tylenol but not bad for Lara.”
Bruce smiles back, placing his hand over Clark’s that is on his baby bump. “Maybe.”
Leslie chooses that moment to walk in, shutting the door behind her quietly. She sees Clark is awake, smiles at him, and then her eyes move to where Clark and Bruce’s hands are resting on Bruce’s stomach. She stops in her tracks, something flashing across her face, before going back to professional neutralism. She approaches the bed, a heavy sigh escaping her lips. She pulls up a chair. “Clark, you should sit down as well.”
Clark’s eyebrows furrow but he does as told, pulling the chair he had fell asleep in over to the opposite side of the bed that Leslie is sitting on. “You look worried,” Clark says, sitting down and taking a hold of Bruce’s hand, this time more gently. “Is everything okay?”
“It was just a really bad migraine, right, Leslie?” Bruce asks her, squeezing Clark’s hand in worry.
Leslie isn’t looking at either of them, instead looking absently at  her clipboard. With a deep breath in, she finally looks up at the two. “I’m afraid not.” Bruce feels Clark’s hand tighten around his and Bruce’s chest fills with worry. “When Clark brought you here and I got you stabilized along with checking on the baby, I took some blood from you, Bruce.”
“You’ve already looked at my blood, Leslie,” Bruce begins. “You never called so I figured everything was okay.”
“It was… at the time.” She sighs again. “Your first sample of blood looked fine but I’ve been keeping an eye on it, Bruce, and I’ve been seeing some changes in it that are worrisome.”
“What do you mean?” Clark asks, leaning forward some.
Before Leslie could answer, Bruce asks, “Why didn’t you tell me this?”
Leslie shakes her head. “I didn’t want to unnecessarily worry you, first off, and secondly I wanted to keep studying it to be one-hundred percent certain of my conclusion. I was actually planning on calling you sometime this week to have you come in for me to draw more blood to confirm my suspicions.” She paused, waiting for someone to speak. When no one does, she continues. “Obviously I didn’t get around to calling you soon enough but either way, this new blood sample that I took last night does confirm my thesis.”
“And that is?” Bruce asks.
Leslie’s face turns somber again. “You and your baby are dying, Bruce.”
It’s like the whole world stops spinning and ice water is dumped on him. His heart simultaneously sinks to the bottom of his stomach and jumps to lodge itself in his throat. Time stops, he’s alone in the world, and the air is sucked out of the room. He blinks at Leslie, his brain coming to a confusing halt.
Leslie’s soft voice snaps him out of the shock and Bruce tries to swallow past the lump in his throat. Clark is very quiet. “From what I can tell, your body is trying to reject the baby.”
“Lara,” Clark whispers, sounding like he is in a daze. “Her name is Lara.”
Leslie nods then continues. “My hypothesis stems from the Kryptonian genes that she has. Your body is viewing those genes as defective and is trying to get rid of the baby because of those ‘defective’ genes. That’s why she is dying.” She sighs again and this time it sounds even more dejected. “As to why I think you are dying, Bruce,” Clark’s hand squeezes again, “is also because of those Kryptonian genes. You see, Lara’s Kryptonian gene side of her is fighting back against your body’s protest against her, trying to stay alive. Essentially, you two are killing each other.”
When Leslie stops talking, the room is plummeted into a deafening silence, both Clark and Bruce looking at Leslie with shock filled gazes. Clark is the first one to break it. “What can be done?”
Leslie shakes her head. “I’m afraid nothing unless Bruce wants to end the pregnancy.” Bruce’s heart spikes in anxiety. “Though I feel Bruce has a good probability of making it full term, there’s also a chance he won’t make it.” Clark’s hand slips from his and the Kryptonian rises from his seat, starting to pace. “If he does make it full term, then he will surely die during childbirth. Lara’s chances are a little higher for survival, after all, we all know how strong Kryptonian genes are when under yellow sun radiation, but she, too, has a chance of either being aborted by Bruce’s body, if his body is successful, or dying during or shortly after birth.” Leslie shakes her head in grief. “I’m sorry you two.”
Clark has stopped pacing and is now shaking his head, arms crossed close to his chest. Tears are teetering at the edges of his eyelids. “No. No, there has to be something we can do.”
“There’s not, Clark.” Leslie’s voice is gentle. Bruce stares at his lap. “The only solution I can find is that Bruce terminate the pregnancy. It’s not too late. He would take a pill that will essentially stop the baby’s heart and then a doctor will do the rest.” She turns to Bruce. “You can even be put under anesthesia if wanted.”
Clark is biting the bottom of his lip, breathing hard. “No.” He shakes his head again. “No this can’t be-” his words get choked off and Clark scrambles out of the room, tears streaming down his face. Still, Bruce says nothing.
Leslie heaves a sigh and turns her attention to Bruce. “Think of it this way. If you live, you can still have another baby with Clark. You can use a sperm bank. The baby won’t be Clark’s biologically, but you of all people should know that doesn’t make one not family.”
Bruce keeps staring at his lap, head bowed slightly. He doesn’t comment on Leslie’s proposal. Instead, he goes straight to the facts. “Statistics.” When Leslie doesn’t answer him, he looks up at her. “What are the percentages of survival, Leslie?”
“Bruce, you don’t want to know-” Bruce cuts her off.
“Tell me them. Now,” he says, making sure to be demanding and show how serious he is.
Leslie frowns at him. “I’ve estimated that the likelihood of you making it full term is eighty percent.” Some of Bruce’s worries lessen, feeling relieved that the percentage is so high. Maybe the others are too and Leslie is worrying for no reason. But she is still frowning and is no longer looking him in the eyes. His worry returns. “Lara’s rate of surviving childbirth is fifty percent.” Bruce’s heart sinks further. “Your rate of survival during childbirth is…” she hesitates, eyes flicking to his and then diverts again, “twenty-five percent. If that.” Bruce sits there in stunned silence. “Bruce,” Leslie starts carefully. “That is why I believe your best option is to terminate the pregnancy and use a human donor instead.”
Her words snap Bruce out of his shock and anger immediately builds in his chest. “I’m not getting rid of Lara, Leslie.”
“Bruce-”
“No!” He yells, not really meaning to raise his voice but his chest hurts with grief and rage. “No, I’m not doing that. I don’t care what the statistics say. Lara is going to survive. We are going to save her.”
She shrugs. “And what about you, Bruce?”
“To hell with me!” He flings the covers to the side and gets up out of the bed, ripping the IV out and the wires off. He locates his shoes by the wall and slips them on, having not been changed out of his clothes. He storms over to the door.
“Bruce, we really should talk about this,” Leslie tries, getting up from her chair.
Bruce turns around, glaring at her. “What’s there to talk about? My baby and I are dying, Leslie, and you’re telling me there is nothing, besides getting rid of her, that will change that even though getting rid of her with kill her too.”
Leslie’s face takes on a sympathetic look to it. “It’s the lesser of two evils, Bruce.”
“I don’t care.” Bruce shakes his head. “I could die a million times over it meant Lara living. I would gladly give my life for her.”
Leslie is watching him closely, staring and analyzing. She eventually nods acceptance, looking back down to her clipboard. “I’m going to prescribe you morphine you can take orally for the headaches. Only take them if the pain gets to be intolerable or other painkillers, like Tylenol, don’t help. Morphine is an opioid so it’s highly addictive, for you and your baby. Be careful when taking it.”
Bruce nods even though he has zero plans of taking such a thing. He won’t risk Lara’s life more than it already is in danger. “Thank you, Leslie.”
He turns to leave but is called back by Leslie. “Bruce.” He turns to her and she is closer now, looking up at him. She pulls him in close, hugging him around the shoulders. “I’m so sorry, Bruce.”
Bruce closes his eyes against her, wraps his arms around her waist, and allows the two tears to fall from his eyes. When he pulls back, he sniffles and wipes them away. “I better go find Clark. Thank you again, Leslie. I’ll keep in touch, promise.”
He leaves then with Leslie watching sorrowfully. He wanders down the rundown hallways, passing rooms with patients and stragglers walking down the hallway themselves, until he comes to the bathroom. Bruce closes his eyes, grounds himself and pushes the heavy weight off his chest for now. Lifting his hand as he opens his eyes, he knocks and waits for an answer. A sniffle comes from inside the bathroom so Bruce calls out. “Clark?”
It takes a few seconds for Bruce to hear the sound of the click the lock makes and then footsteps walking back to the opposite side of the bathroom. Bruce opens the door slowly, peers inside, and sees Clark sitting on the floor, legs curled up close to the alpha’s chest. Clark’s face is red and wet, eyes not doing any better. His nose is running and Clark is giving small hiccupping sounds. Bruce enters the room, shuts the door behind himself, and locks it again. He goes over to Clark and sits down quietly, waiting for Clark to talk first. He’s not really sure what to say.
The two sit like that for several minutes, none making a sound besides Clark’s muffled cries. They don’t touch each other, they don’t look at each other, they don’t do anything. Finally, however, Clark says very quietly, “It’s my fault.”
Bruce’s eyebrows furrow. “You’re fault?” He looks over to the Kryptonian who is looking back.
“I’m the Kryptonian. I’m the one who passed those genes to Lara. I’m the reason those genes are attacking your system.” Clark hiccups throughout his sentences, struggling to form the words. “I’m so sorry, Bruce.”
Bruce shakes his head and immediately pulls Clark in to his side, holding the man close to him. “It’s not your fault, Clark. It’s no one’s fault.” He pulls away and cups both of Clark’s cheeks, making the Kryptonian look at him. “No one could have known this was going to happen.”
“What are we going to do, Bruce?” Clark asks, eyes filling with tears once again. They stream down his cheeks steadily and the man can’t hold them back, sobbing. Bruce pulls him in again, allows Clark to bawl on his shoulder.
His own eyes fill with tears and he buries his face in Clark’s hair “I don’t know, Clark.” He shakes his head, biting his bottom lip to stop hiccupping. “I don’t know.”

Jonathan Kent isn't a kind and generous man who wanted to take care of a baby. I mean, maybe he was but what does it even matter if something else is manipulating his actions?
Do audiences enjoy stories where characters are manipulated by Gods or destiny to become the thing they're meant to become to do the thing they're meant to do or is this just writers being too lazy to let a story tell itself along the way? My view of audiences would be severely diminished if it could get any lower and also if I were to believe they preferred stories about Chosen Ones rather than regular people who rise to the occasion to do something heroic. What makes a story better if we learn that the hero was always meant to be the hero? Isn't it more rewarding to have heroes like Frodo Baggins and Sam Gamgee who struggled to do what was right with no guarantee that they were cosmically destined to succeed? The only thing this whole idea that there has to be some thing (or Thing) manipulating events from behind the curtain is remove free will from the hero's actions, thus making the hero nothing more than an automaton programmed to succeed. Jonathan brings the baby home and Martha is all, "Whelp! I guess we have a kid now! Praise Jesus!" And Jon is all, "Praise Jesus and his might rocket ship from Heaven!" And both of them feel slightly guilty because of all the times they cursed God for giving them faulty reproductive organs. Jon and Martha are still young so at least they can pretend that they kept faith that God would provide them a child. But I bet if they had been creeping up on the age of Abraham when he finally boinked the help, they would have fucked up God's plan too! Jon and Martha quickly begin calling each other Ma and Pa because why not? It's not like anybody is going to somehow come along and take their new space baby away from them! They found it and so it's as good as theirs. It's not like Kansas has any laws on the books that say you can't keep a baby you found in a field that fell out of the sky in an alien rocket ship. Are there? Probably not, right? And even if there are, nobody in town seems to question where the fuck Jon and Martha got a kid.
Tumblr media
Oh yeah. I'm supposed to believe Clark can feel hot oatmeal. What flavor is it? Kryptonite? I mean, it is green.
Stupid penis! Every time I turn the page, it keeps thinking we're going to see thick chicks on space motorcycles with their tits flopping out and huge bushes streaming out from between their thighs! This isn't Heavy Metal, you stupid organ! I blame my brain for constantly thinking while reading this, "This comic book magazine sure would be better with more tits." Between being a toddler and the first day of high school, nothing important happens. I mean, some important things probably happen. Like Clark's first wet dream. But Frank Miller doesn't think that's important enough to make the story. I don't know why. I want to see Ma asking Kent why he hid his sheets out in the field and also why he was re=plastering the ceiling of his bedroom. In high school, all the kids start talking about how amazing Clark Kent is. But he hangs out with the fat kid and the goth kid and the other kids that are probably losers in ways that I can't tell by John Romita Jr's art. They all just kind of look like John Romita Jr people. I think they others are misfits because one wears glasses and the other one is black and the other one is Latino. That just means they don't fit in with the white rural farm kids, I guess? I don't know how high school works in rural America. I grew up in Silicon Valley. Our nerds were the white kids who played Dungeons and Dragons. Our popular kids were the Filipinos who were style conscious when most of us still weren't wearing deodorant or washing our hair regularly enough. I would see them hanging out at lunch and think, "How do they get their hair to stay so high and look so good?!" If only I had known that part of that answer was simply, "They wash it regularly," maybe I wouldn't have been a big misfit loser jerk! Clark sees the bullies picking on little Pete Ross (you have to say that in a high-pitched sneering voice. Unless you don't want to be a bully. Do you not want to be a bully?) and decides, "Enough is enough!" Even though he's not supposed to stand out or else the government will take him away to do experiments on him, he has to end the rash of bullying at Smallville High School! This looks like a job for Clark Kent! I don't think he's decided to call himself Superboy yet. Apparently nobody in town knows how to stop a bunch of asshole kids from bullying other kids. It's just one of those Earth problems that can't be solved by Earthlings! It must be Clark Kent's destiny to stop bullying once and for all! And that's what Clark does. He takes the novel approach that nobody thought of and asks the bullies, "Hey? Could you stop picking on my friends?" Sure, that doesn't work. They just see it as Clark starting a fight. So they oblige him and throw a few punches. Clark blocks one and the bully's wrist breaks. So now the bullies realize they can't win and stop bullying! Yay! Except they don't. They just bully even harder because why not? They're shitting on other people because their life is shit. Why would they not increase the shitting if something happened in their life to make their life even shittier?! Something like Clark "Break a Boy's Bones" Kent!
Tumblr media
Why do they seem so happy about Carlos being called a spic and getting his tooth knocked out?! Fucking asshole weirdos!
Lana tells Clark she has a plan to stop the bullies. Her plan involves journalism! She has pictures of the bullies assaulting the weirdos and she thinks they can get the police to listen to them. But the goth weirdo overhears their plans and he's a big weirdo traitor! I guess if he snitches on the weirdos, he doesn't get beat up. I bet he's going to become a supervillain some day. When Lana leaves her house at night thinking she's going to meet Clark, she's set upon by the bullies! They steal her pictures and threaten to rape her. These aren't just bullies! They're criminal psychopaths and I'm sorry I tried to understand their bully behavior earlier! I was thinking, "Maybe this story will be about the ambiguities of youth and how hard it is to navigate the world between childhood and adulthood, especially when you have serious issues with your parents and home life and self-esteem!" Instead I should have been thinking, "Clark and the weirdos are Good with a capital "G" and the bullies are Evil with a capital "E"! Hopefully the story will make this explicit so that I can truly just hate the bullies and not mind when Clark drowns them in the reservoir! And the best way for a narrative to help me understand how evil they are is if they commit attempted rape!" Whew! I sure am glad to know that whatever Clark does to them now, they totally deserve it! I'd hate for Clark to have to come up with a real life solution that stops the bullying and teaches the bullies how to cope with their own problems without resorting to small violences against other kids! After saving Lana from being raped, Clark seems to insinuate that maybe Lana should fuck him as thanks. He's all, "Let me court you!" And she's all, "Whatever." And he's all, "Sleep tight!" And she's all, "Yeah. Sure. I'll sleep. Tight." I think that means she's going to masturbate? I'm not good at sexual innuendo but I figured it must be because the very next panel begins like this:
Tumblr media
That's definitely sexual innuendo!
Kent forgets that he's supposed to be stopping the bullies because he starts dating Lana. They sneak off and Clark closes his eyes and pulls out his penis and is all, "Just touch it Lana!" And she's all, "Mmmph mmph mmmph!" And he's all, "Please! Just touch it!" And she's all, "Mmph mmmph mmph!" And he opens his eyes and realizes his penis is in Lana's mouth and he blows her brains all over the field with his load. Later, after my fantasy is concluded, I return to the actual story where they only kiss. Lame. After high school ends, Clark joins the navy. But not after banging Lana Lang all night! And that's not something I made up! It's right there in the comic book! Superman: Year One: Book One Rating: It was a bit treacly but not super bad. Ha ha!. But I still don't know if the bullies ever got their comeuppance! Was I supposed to be satisfied with Clark bloodying a few noses and then saying to Lana, "We'll use reporting to get them good!"? How disappointing!

Little SuperBat
Requested by an anon
Summary: Batmom is Superman’s little sister & pregnant. Mixed emotions are expressed when the news is revealed!
Disclaimer: I’m not too familiar with details of Superman’s arcs, so we’re going to pretend Ma & Pa Kent are happy grandparents.
Warning(s): Slight Mentions of NSFW
Word Count: 1,030
“Clark, all I want is to have lunch with everyone I love. No super-hero talk! Plus, Ma and Pa already said they’re coming! Just a nice, relaxing lunch, okay?” Your words flowed into the telephone as you tried to convince Clark to come to lunch at the mansion.
~”They’re coming all the way to Gotham from Smallville?”~ His concerned tone annoyed you slightly and you huffed a sigh.
“They’ve visited you in Metropolis from Smallville! And Gotham’s not that much farther! Look, just please come, okay? Bring Lois and Jon! Please?”
~”Fine, we’ll be there.”~
The day of the lunch couldn’t come soon enough. Your parents arrived a few days earlier in order to spend time with you and the mysterious Bruce Wayne… and all of their grandchildren. Those days were the best of your life, but it would have been better if you didn’t have to keep such a secret the whole time. The little life growing inside of you seemed to taunt your mind, willing you to bring it into conversation at every possible moment.
Thankfully, it had been obvious that your birth controls fluked(or rather the stress of Bruce’s last mission caused you to forget to take them.) So you were able to take a pregnancy test the day after Bruce came home(and the day after you had ‘I’m so thankful you’re alive sex’.) It confirmed your suspicions and you and Bruce set out to find a way to tell everyone before Clark flew in on his own and demanded to know why he heard a little heartbeat connected to yours.
Finally, the day came and you couldn’t help but have a smile plastered to your face after you hung up the phone from Lois telling you they were leaving. Nervously, you busied yourself in the kitchen, happily helping Alfred and your mother(who refused to NOT bake a pie) prepare things for the picnic lunch. It kept your mind off things and kept your heart rate from racing.
The doorbell rang and your body tensed as you glanced at your mother. A smile spread across Martha’s face before she wiped her hands on her apron. Eagerly you set your knife down and followed her out of the kitchen, excitedly scurrying to the front door. Along the way you met other members of the family, also gravitating towards the door in anticipation.
An hour later the lunch picnic was well under way, Damian and Jon having “endurance” races while Steph and Jason threw a football trying to be the next Odell Beckham Jr. and catch it with one hand. Cass was showing Gramma Kent her ballet routine, with Dick choking back proud older brother tears. Alfred talked passionately with your father about his vegetable garden. Babs, you, and Lois talked about whatever, while watching Clark harass Bruce with concerned brother questions as Bruce tried to barbeque.
When lunch was served everyone sat down at the custom picnic bench and started passing food around. Before long, you shared a look with Bruce, knowing what it was time to do.
“Sooo,” You cleared your throat, “Bruce and I have something to announce.”
Immediately you saw everyone tense, some in fear and other’s in excitement, before your mother, eyes twinkling, spoke up, “Well, what it is, darling?”
You shared another glance with Bruce, “I’m pregnant!”
Your parents lit up excitedly but not before Clark stood up, the bench he was sitting on being pushed back with his movement, “What?!”
Lois put a hand on his arm to try and calm him down but in a huff he turned away from the table and towards the woods behind the mansion. With a sad sigh you got up and announced that you’d go after him. It thankfully didn’t take long to find him slumped over near the bank of the creek. You sat down next to him and sighed again.
“Are you not happy about this?”
Clark’s head snapped up to look at you, “No! I mean, I am happy for you. But… another bat running around? (Y/N), what if something bad happens just because it’s yours and Bruce’s kid, or more importantly, batman’s kid.”
You raised an eyebrow, “Clark, that didn’t stop you or Lois. And it’s not going to stop Bruce and I. Plus, we have quite a few older siblings willing to protect our little one.”
Now it was Clark’s turn to sigh as he took in your words, knowing you were right. At the end of the day you couldn’t have been more satisfied by everyone’s reactions. Even if Clark got a little bit more overprotective than you liked, it was to be expected and it’s not as if he was the only overprotective one in the family.
Nine months later and Clark was unsurprisingly the first one by your bed side having heard your first sounds of distress. Bruce was second to come to your side. When you got to the hospital Bruce was rather thankful he didn’t have to ask Clark to stay in the waiting room and not go in the delivery room with you two. Clark paced back and forth for the entire 13 hours you were labor.
If you hadn’t been completely drained of energy and over excited at the same time you would’ve cracked some joke about how you would’ve hated to see what Clark was like when Lois was delivering. Luckily, Bruce was there to make the joke for you. Your baby rested in your tired arms perfectly and Bruce slumped in the chair next to your bed when Clark was finally let into the room.
Clark’s face lit up in a smile the second he walked into his face lit up at the sight of his tiny niece. Gently you slid your newborn into your brother’s arms and watched as tears came to his eyes after you told him she was named after both Bruce’s and your mothers. As Clark looked down at his niece, dwarfed in his muscular arms he thought maybe, just maybe, another bat might not hurt the world. After all, this one wasn’t just a bat, this little girl was a SuperBat.

Hannah Watches LOSH - Man of Tomorrow
This is my start on what will be a one episode-per-post re-watch and review/analysis of Legion of Superheroes. I am going to go through all the episodes of both seasons, and when I finish the show, I will also go into the comics afterward. I will try to aim for once a week at minimum, but that depends on school. The reviews will be made while I’m watching, with much pausing and commentary being made and screenshots being shown, and a final word at the end on both the episode overall and the characters.
I will also be comparing my view when I first saw the episode vs now. Also please keep in mind I did not start with the first episode when it aired. And these will all have my opinion alone, and if you have any feedback/comments you want to give, go ahead ^^
So, let’s start of with the first episode.
Man of Tomorrow
So we first get the preview of the Legion fighting the Fatal Five before cutting to Clark Kent during his last night in Smallville before going to Metropolis.
Watching this again, it struck me that Clark probably didn’t get the best support from his parents on the super power part.
What do I mean? Ma Kent said “Just please be careful. Remember Clark, your not like the rest of us.” Which he replies with “I know.” Now in the animated show most people are familiar with, the superpowers came into being around high school. But his parents seemed to have handled it rather well, as does Clark in the end, and he is given a device that has a message from his birth parents to give him an explanation. But here that’s not the case. I think it’s more likely that the parents were less ready to deal with superpowers, and god, given Clark didn’t know squat about Krypton as evident in the comics that tied into the show – will go into that eventually, who knows how well Clark was dealing with the powers when they first came up. Probably much worse than in the Superman animated series.
Speaking of parents, noticed that Pa was not in the episode. Where is he? Is he dead in this version? Ho geeze, adds to the stress the poor guy must be under.
And then we get our time bubble trio aka TBT: Brainiac 5, Saturn Girl, and Bouncing Boy. I wonder what the decision process was behind them. Which will be discussed in a bit.
Cutting back to the fair, we get more evidence of Clark not dealing the best way with his powers after a Jock taunts him and his physical abilities. He is getting ready to toss the ball, recalls Ma’s words. And god, the facial expressions now have the ability to pick apart my heart now.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Just. Ow.
And then comes the trope-tastic faulty Ferris wheel. I bet Grunkle Stan branched out to this fair.
And then we get back to the TBT. What do you mean food on a stick is not normal?! WHAT DO YOU DO FOR POPCICLES?! COTTON CANDY?! CANDY APPLES?!
Tumblr media
Wait, how did he get that food? Was it samples? Or did the trio steal it?
I couldn’t help but snicker at Brainy’s and Saturn Girl’s expression at Bouncing Boy. Imma have to go with “stealing”
Also, what performance would the TBT be part of? I mean, I understand cosplay at a convention, but they look a little off the mark at the fair for me. But I would totally pay money to see that performance.
Tumblr media
And it happens.
Tumblr media
The beginning of what was one of the many triggers in many for shipping a gay ship.
When I first watched this show, I was in elementary. I was having some curiosity towards gay ships – I was in a very heavy weeabo state, and especially into CLAMP’s manga, which is filled with LGBT characters. I was also going through a bit of a religious phase, and my parents aren’t the most accepting people, especially back then. So I was scared by possibly shipping anything that wasn’t deemed right. I wouldn’t go bashing in public, but I wouldn’t confide with others. I wouldn’t really support the LGBT community until high school.
But now, I can fully appreciate the show and what it tried to do. The storyboards probably have more representation for the LGBT community by far, but still, I will take what I can get with this show… THAT’S A LIE I WANT THOSE STORYBOARDS.
Gotta appreciate the dramatic music that comes with the scene as well.
Tumblr media
Look at those two concerned guardians.
Now back to Clark.
Given my earlier talk with him and his powers… THIS BOY MUST HAVE HAD A HEART ATTACK WHEN BOUNCING BOY SPOKE TO HIM. HE WAS CAUGHT. YET HE GOES “EVERYTHING IS FINE HERE,” AND PROCEEDS TO SWOOP IN WHEN THE THING STARTS TO FALL APART. KUDOS TO MY BOY IN HOLDING HIMSELF TOGETHER.
Tumblr media
GRUNKLE STAN YOU HAVE A LOT OF EXPLAINING ON THE STATE OF THAT FERRIS WHEEL.
Tumblr media
Saturn Girl, I don’t think now is the time for intros.
Pfft, BB is confused by this as well, to the point where his animation is a wee bit off.
Tumblr media
And then he proceeds to walk behind Clark and… what’s the best word for this…
Tumblr media
WHAT A PRECIOUS FACE THAT FOLLOWS THAT SILLY BOING NOISE. AND THE WAY HE SAYS “help?” AFTERWARDS IS SO CUTE. EXPRESSIONS IN THIS EPISODE ARE SO GOOD.
Tumblr media
I never realized how big Bouncing Boy could get.
Clark starts to nope out, and Saturn Girl said she did the same thing when she saw Bouncing Boy to do that as well.
Tumblr media
And cue more internal panicking for Clark.
So, did Saturn Girl like did the whole fair a mind wipe, or just the guys who were witnesses?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
More gayness, both sides.
Tumblr media
And Clark has a gay panic.
Which will eventually turn into “I’m not Straight” in the future. I’ve been through that phase my boy.
Tumblr media
Saturn Girl looks like a mom here, telling the kids to stop flirting atm.
Tumblr media
Oh man, Clark asking them not to tell anyone about the super power thing. What a heart breaker.
“It’s okay. We know all about you.”
Tumblr media
Wow, great conversation starter B5, totally not sounding like a stalker.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
BRAINY WHY DID YOU CUT OFF BOUNCY?! JEALOUSY?! LOOK AT THESE GOSHDARN EXPRESSIONS.
Tumblr media
Good job B5, weirded out your crush.
At least Saturn Girl knows saying “Coming to the future” sounds crazy.
Tumblr media
“Clark!”
Tumblr media
“Wait!”
Oof. My heart at his voice.
Tumblr media
And Cool Mom has to step in.
Tumblr media
He looks like a kicked dog at this frame.
Let us appreciate how immediately when Saturn Girl says “Let’s just give him some time,” the episodes is edited so that they show up in the kitchen at his house.
Tumblr media
So Saturn Girl has a coffee mug, Bouncing Boy has pie, and nothing for the green child. Oh, and embarrassment for Clark.
Well, okay, B5 kinda looks like an angry kid who’s upset their BF is an hour late to the date.
And the introduction the do at the home seems to be much smoother at the fair. Think they did rehearsals waiting for Clark to get home? Did they switch out constantly? And how far did B5 take his crush with the rehearsals?
But Clark defiantly has a lot of self-doubt at the idea of him being a super hero. He uses his powers for good, but he definitely lacks the confidence that he’s good enough for it. He laughs it off at first, then seems a little angry and scared at how much they knew about his powers. Reminds me now of Yuuri Katsuri. And given how little confidence I have had in the last few years about myself, I can further appreciate him now than what I did back then.
Clark was very tempted in coming at “Come with us and you won’t have to hide them anymore.” It’s like getting a safe place to come out, finally, after years of being told that it’s safer to hide himself. Further more appreciative with time for me.
Tumblr media
Wow, B5 looks so demanding here.
(Where did they keep that time bubble tho?? It just appeared out of nowhere?)
I kinda laughed at the part where Ma goes “Take a sweater!” then comes down stairs, confused at what he said. “Future?”
Tumblr media
I like the atmosphere of New Metropolis in this show. Good use of complementary colors in this shot.
Tumblr media
AND THANK ****ING GOD LOOK AT TRIPLICATE GIRL IN HD HER SKIN IS DARKER
I CRY BLOOD AT THE FACT THAT THE FACT SHE WAS SUPPOSE TO BE MUCH DARKER AND THEN SHE CAME OUT SO PALE IN SD QUALITY THANK GOD FOR HD
Granted the concept art of her gave her darker skin but SHE’S SO BEAUTIFUL WITH DARK SKIN
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And here we have Queen Sinnamon Roll and Lighting Trash Baby, who PG proceeds to sass out with an eye roll and reality, and then has Trips back her up. Positive female friendships, that’s an instant gold star.
Tumblr media
What a jealous baby, getting phased through and shoved aside. Thinking back to the jock we saw earlier, I find it interesting that Lightning Lad was made to fit that image on the first episode. Interesting move. Perhaps it was to show the character development as we went along?
Tumblr media
The girls look so disappointed that the skinny Superman came out instead of some muscular guy. Personally, I prefer the skinny Superman design. Muscular guys just don’t seem as attractive to me as often. Might have something to do with that I find myself attracted to girls more often. But I love all girls, and buff girls are on the list of those I am weak for, so I’m just further confused. Maybe I just need another 10 years to figure this one out.
And when Lightning Lad proceeds to poke fun at B5 and Clark…
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Brainy looks like a cat who is planning his demise. I had cats for a little over ten years. I know this look. Brainy is giving him the look that says he will murder him in his sleep. Painfully.
And then Lightning Lad proceeds to be a jerk, doing the last thing Clark needs: degrading him on his powers. After everything I talked about earlier, this hurts me in the hard. Trash Baby will be sent to the garbage pit as required.
We cut to the Superman museum, where Saturn Girl brings Clark to speed what’s going on, explaining who the Fatal Five are.
While watching this episode, I realized how much emotional support and guidance Saturn Girl provided for those in need – particularly B5 and Clark in this one. And she doesn’t seem to need to read their minds to figure out what they are feeling. So really, that is really thought provoking. Maybe she studied psychology or hosts therapy groups. In any case, it makes her far more interesting as a person.
I’m kind of interested to see what the military forces were like in this show’s universe, given that they were deemed not available for help against the Fatal Five. How restricted are they? Is there restrictions based on international laws? And as for the Science Police… well, I’m going to discuss that in a future episode.
Okay so tallying up the other legionnaires who were mentioned when the code red was sent out. Shrinking Violet was undercover, Colossal Boy is on Rawl (did I spell that right?), while Cosmic Boy, the leader, is at the outpost, where it is commented he won’t make it on time. Good god, they were spread thin. Just how much shit is going on elsewhere?! Just leave less than ten people at the HQ where one of the biggest problems will find them. NOT A PROBLEM AT ALL.
So the Fatal Five show up, and at least the police try to do something, but still get their asses kicked. A for effort.
And what does Clark do when confronted with his first Comic Villain fight? At first he seems like he’s running away. Leaving the Legion to get their butts kicked. But instead he’s getting the costume, and tries to fly. He’s taking a step forward to define himself as someone who can help. He’s becoming Superman.
But how did that costume just suddenly adjust to the tinier frame? Krypton Science?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And what about his hair? It changed too! It just popped out that signature curl!
Regarding the fight, there are several things I noticed: Triplicate Girl can be forcibly merged back into one singular being, and all three of her can carry Persuader and PG with the ax. Validus chased Bouncing Boy like a dog, which was kind of funny. Lightning Lad abandons his original opponent during fight to go help his teammates, and manages to resist for a while. And then he gave Superman tips in fighting. Saturn Girl is the first to break out of the control, and uses her powers to free the others. B5 has strong robot muscles (what’s the mechanical equivalent?)
Tumblr media
Also, I think I should thank this episode for giving the idea of the ax for a weapon in the SU AU i work with, since she got to hold it several times in the episode.
Now regarding the villains, honestly the only one who I find of any interest is Emerald Empress. She was just so causal to Superman when she sees him in costume, and sounded disappointed at the small number of the people who came to confront her team, which gives her some character. Also, I heard somewhere that she is a lesbian. If anyone has a source that can confirm, I would appreciate it so much, cuz I need more queer ladies in my life.
Tumblr media
Post fight, Lighting Lad says he knew Superman could do it, only to get the look from everyone. Karma much?
Tumblr media
And we see sad Brainy when he says Superman has to go home.
But then Superman is the one who proposes he stays.
And as one last boot to the episode, Superman steals what Lightning Lad’s spot during flight with Brainy’s help. Continuing Karma on the trash baby.
Tumblr media
So final thoughts on the episode overall.
It’s a good start the first season, definitely. But I feel there could be better execution. Like the first bit can get people to think that the fight happened before the Legion went to fetch Superman. Like only some of them managed to get away from the Fatal Five, and realize they need help in rescuing the rest of the Legion. That would be more interesting for a first episode, to me anyway.
Villains could have used more development.
Maybe seeing a bit more of the life back at Smallville would have been nice as well.
And how did that decision for the Time Bubble Trio/TBT go? I know B5 probably demanded to go, justifying he was the one who built the device. And wanted to see Superman first. But why Saturn Girl and Bouncing Boy? Did they draw stick, or was it based on the idea that they are probably the most responsible of the group? TELL ME~
But given what we got, I love it. The members of the legion are fun to watch, and it’s a good take on the younger Superman, and the interpretation I got out of the episode was so much deeper than what I got when I was younger.
And kudos out to the staff in trying to squeeze that gay stuff in.
Characters in this episode:
I really like Superman/Clark’s personality here. I can relate to it now better than how I did when I was younger. And now the experience seems like a parallel to finding a safe place to come out. Gold. Star.
Brainiac 5 was nice to see, crushing on Superman. We discover more of him personality wise later on, but it’s so good to see the gay game getting on this early.
Saturn Girl – god I love how she’s so emotionally aware of others in parts of this episode. This girl is definitely someone I would talk to during a hard time.
Lightning Lad… thank god for later character development. He’s a lovable brat here, but needs that character development stat.
Bouncing Boy is a delight. Such goodness in a person. An early-version of Hunk from Voltron. Good emotional support as well.
Seeing the sass that just oozes from Phantom Girl is a joy. My beautiful daughter.
And Triplicate Girl… THANK GOD YOU ARE NOT AS PALE HERE IN HD AS YOU WERE IN SD. I feel that we could have seen more of her and PG, but I really love how they got along in the HQ before the TBT got back.
The villains. Not much to say other than what I said about Empress earlier and that they needed development overall. Sorry.
Well, that’s all for this episode! Hope this was a good read for you all! lemme know if i should put any under a Read More bar.
