Being in the aroace spec and a shifter is a strange experience because the only person i'll ever have genuine romantic interest for is in a whole different reality, and i mean ONLY that reality. Noone in this reality, my other DRs, or literally any other reality that doesn't have my beloved person, is ever that interesting to me. The only interest i'l have for them are strictly platonic.

genuinely unsure how to answer this ask because on the one hand yes, that's kinda funny and it would indeed be something like that had the abyss essentially come back to him time and time again like 'new form? 😳' and childe would've slapped it away like 'no!!!' like some sort of shitty spam email that lands on your regular inbox without fail, BUT

the abyss only wanted him to take on one form. in cyanide that form was the foul legacy, and to be frank childe did take it. he just refused to remain with that form. and also like- for it to have reached the 'haha the abyss is like an insistent dog' status, it would've had to have been-

not agonizing. like i get the joke but the process of rejecting the abyss' insistence on taking the FL form was not only a one-time process, but also like- nearly cost him his life. so uh.

my personal headcanon is that he knows basic sign and uses it when he's completely nonverbal, but that for most of his time as a soldier pre-calamity he limits himself to basic signs that are well-known enough for anyone to understand and not much else (thank you, please, basic combat orders, occasional fingerspelling) and uses them VERY sparingly if at all. I personally believe that the lack of communication he displays pre-calamity goes beyond just physical muteness, and I think that removing the communication block by having him sign freely removes some of the nuance of his relationships with other people pre-calamity, so while i think he CAN sign, i think he only uses it when communication is absolutely necessary.

Not me finding out like a day late that one of the Arcane head writers confirmed on a livestream that they intended Jayce and Viktor to be platonic??? I swear to god one of these days someone somewhere will learn how to not put aggressively romantic/sexual metaphors/imagery in their so called platonic male friendships on screen and then act surprised when people notice but I guess it's not this day.
