The Therapist

There's a new therapist at school.

Normally this wouldn't really bother Peter at all, since he's never gone to see a shrink in his life and doesn't ever plan on it, but there's something... off about this woman.

She seems unassuming enough at first glance. Red hair, green eyes, bright red lipstick. But there is something in her eyes, something that Peter can only describe as a predator looking at its next prey, when she looks around the school at all of the teenagers milling about. Heck, even the way she walks makes her seem as if she is a predator stalking her prey.

It could always be some kind of power move, Peter reasons. He's met people like that before, who try to intimidate everyone around them into thinking that they are superior, that they are the apex predator and anyone who dares to cross them would pay for it dearly.

But his Spidey Sense went crazy around her.

He tries to brush it off as paranoia. He'd pulled an all-nighter last night in the lab with Tony because neither of them had been able to sleep, and he hadn't been sleeping well even before that. (Funny, how it had all started the night after he first bumped into the new therapist in the halls.) So his Spidey Sense is probably out of wack because he's tired. Simple as that.

But it seems like everyone in the school is depressed. Even Ned, who can't even muster up the energy and enthusiasm to talk about Legos or Star Wars or even the weather. It worries Peter.

Because it all started when that therapist came to the school.

He can't ignore it forever, he knows that. There is only so long his Spidey Sense can tell him that she is danger danger danger before he finally listens. He has to do something to help everyone.

So he researches.

And he falls into the rabbit hole of ghosts and ectoplasm and secret government organizations and the little, unassuming town of Amity Park, Illinois.

He doesn't sleep that night.

When he comes to school the next morning, Dr. Penelope Spectra looks him dead in the eyes, and smiles.

She did want to talk to someone.

It's just that after realizing that he knew everything, she kept in silence, and it seemed that there was no need to say any more.

Jiang Xuening sat down quietly on the small wooden bench next to the stove, watched Xie Wei put the chopped diced into the ready-to-cook porridge, took a spoon to stir it slowly, and finally said: "I haven't really killed people."

Xie Wei stirred it well, and put the lid on the pot again.

He also sat down by the stove, next to her. His eyes fell on the red-hot coals, and he was extremely calm: "There is always a first time."

Jiang Xuening slowly hugged her knees, leaned down, blinked, seemed to be thinking more, and did not speak.

Xie Wei was beside her.

After waiting for a while, when the outside was completely quiet, he poured some porridge into a bowl and served it to her. The two of them didn't bother to move an extra table, they just sat by the stove and ate a half-hot bowl in this slightly cold frosty night.

At this moment, Zhou Yinzhi's face turned ashen.

But Jiang Xuening just raised her head, looked at the city gate that had been opened wide, thinking that the world is ridiculous, and said slowly: "That's right, in the eyes of Mr. Zhou, a person like me is considered good and easy to deceive."

She thought, it's getting late, and it's better not to delay the army from entering the city.

So she stretched out her hand to the swordsman beside her.

yo I CAN recruit liches!!! let's go! Absolute funniest recruit so far bc I didn't even need to go insane with the chariot rewinds, the lich just decided "yeah sure, why not" on my first attempt to recruit her. Wild. (she still lowkey hates me though bc she started at a pretty low loyalty stat, which makes the entire thing so much funnier to me; Connecticut Clark moment if there ever was one in Tactics Ogre). Also "lich" is apparently the class that can recruit umbra, so now I'll have a new fun side project while I dungeon-crawl

(I'm thinking I need a necromancer for recruiting the phantoms though, I know they're recruitable, I just don't have the right class to do so yet, but I know necromancer is a playable class bc I saw it listed when I was checking out potential reclass options for one of my units. I desire skeletons and floating sheets in my army though, so one day, one day...still curious about what the "divine" enemy types are that clerics can recruit bc I have yet to see any)

Also I finally recruited a hydra! (the chariot rewinds to get said hydra were insane, there were so many different branches). So, unless there's a way to recruit the legendary critters, I finally have all the dragons--and I think all the standard beasts too (gryphon, cockatrice, cyclops, and a golem even though golems are technically tied to the witch/warlock class for recruits).

Anyhow, Pirate's Graveyard is quickly becoming my favorite dungeon in Tactics Ogre Reborn so far, although I am devastated that I can't recruit the krakens OR the dagons--I know they're just recolored octopuses, but I still want to recruit them...

one of the things that i like about rping Mary is the psychological trauma/ tension of it all and coming to terms with it. ah, no. I don't mean Mari, herself. I mean for anyone that gains awareness that they're in the dream and are forced to deal with a lotta shit right on the spot. all while this tiny girl that's basically the embodiment of cotton candy is obviously trying her best to keep you calm/figure stuff out.

Mari/y has no troubles diving in other's dream horrors to help them, but her own horrors? Nope, cover that shit up as best as possible. 'If I can't see it, it's not a problem yet'
