clarification on kaeya's behavior in the caribert quest

seen a surprising amount of people taking kaeya's words at face value so i'd like to point out a very important detail that has been easily overlooked

i don't have any video clips of this and the official soundbite unfortunately cuts off abruptly so you'll have to trust me on this or just do the quest again yourself lol but

right here, in the very beginning of the conversation with kaeya, kaeya suddenly goes quiet and contemplative. if you pause long enough and NOT immediately skip ahead, you can actually HEAR footsteps approaching and kaeya going "hm?". and THIS is the moment when kaeya starts talking about his past. this means he knew dainsleif was there from the very beginning.

he then loudly proclaims that he knows NOTHING about khaenriah and that his dad probably had GOOD intentions (directly contradicting his character story) making himself purposely look naive and harmless in front of dainsleif so he could lure him out and get answers out of him or maybe he was just tired of this guy following him around. though to his credit dainsleif himself didn't seem totally convinced of his act

as to why kaeya knew it was dainsleif just by his footsteps, there could be several reasons: 1) he saw dainsleif in sumeru beforehand and just guessed it was him, 2) he can sense the abyssal corruption inside of him and because he already spotted dainsleif before in mondstadt, could tell it belonged to him, 3) he's an all according to keikaku character and we're not supposed to think any deeper of it

Know what absolutely kills me about Wyll is that his mantra is “it’s okay, the only person it’s hurting is me”

He’s forced into selling his soul to save the city: “I can’t regret it, it saved people and the only person it’s hurting is me”

Letting Karlach live knowing it will violate his contract: “The only person it will hurt is me”

Putting himself in danger endlessly so at least the powers he has will go to some use before he’s dragged to hell, knowing it risks him dying young and being trapped there early: “The only person it will hurt is me.”

I know for a fact that if he were given the power to make the decision re: selling his soul again to save his father in act 3, he would do exactly that. The only person it hurts is him, and over and over he’s marked himself an acceptable casualty in any situation.

Isn't it interesting that Stan never boasts about the things he actually did? He lies about how great he is with women or how he tried to save the pig in an epic battle against the pterodactyl (the first time). But when he actually fought the flying beast, or protected the kids from an army of zombies or managed to escape from the special agents while floating around with zero gravity he never mentioned it again. Save to say, unless the kids told Ford about it, he doesn't know what Stan is capable of. Of course he trusts his brother after Weirdmageddon and goes on adventures with him but I believe Ford still sees himself as the protector and fighter between them two. After all, he has a lot of experience and kept his body at peak health while Stan loves his Ice cream dinner and watching TV.

Imagine Ford trying to protect Stan from a mystical sea creature that attacks the boat but Stan just jumps in and obliterates the thing within a second, because why wouldn't he? It threatened his brother! Maybe not as efficient and clean as Ford would have done it but nevertheless. And the only thing he does afterwards is complain about his back, telling Ford he should clean up the mess, and goes back to whatever he was doing before. Leaving Ford on the deck, who tries very hard not to short circuit.

Batman having low self esteem is actually kind of funny in an absurdist level, like what do you MEAN you're the richest most disputable bachelor of the entire Gotham and part of the United States for actually more than twenty years, you raised pretty much more or less two functioning adults you trained eight competent fighters, you're best friend with SUPER MAN and WONDER WOMAN. You're one of the leaders of the fucking justice league, you got literally aliens and people in power from the government shutting their mouths to listen to you, you're so good at training people that your oldest also is able to do the same and your two youngest, you saved the world more times the world can count, you save the city every single fucking day, you bagged Talia Al Ghul and Catwoman and fumbled imensiously, you have no wrinkles, no one knows your age, you're 6'0, blue eyes, rich, cis het (allegedly) and yet you still come home and say to your self you're not enough ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?
