so the murder of sonic the hedgehog is a fun game, but i really don't think it should be classified as a storybook game like satbk and satsr. for two big reasons

one, it doesn't directly use the plot of the genre people say it's referencing: the murder on the orient express. nor does it expand on said plot since it doesn't use it at all. it's just a similar plot genre.

two, the supporting cast isn't the same in tmosth compared to satbk and satsr. king shahryar and eggman, lancelot and shadow, sinbad and knuckles, the lady of the lake and amy: they're all seperate characters. They storybook counterparts may look like sonics friends, but they're still the characters from the original story being told. tmosth doesn't do that. tails is tails, amy is amy, eggman is eggman, etc etc.

sure the joke is funny and all, but i don't consider this game to be a third installment of the storybook series

So this one is a little tough for me since I technically haven’t really had the opportunity to play any mainline Sonic games :0

Ive only had the chance to play the mobile games(Sonic Forces and Dream Team), the roblox speed simulator, and TMoSTH ^^’

But when I eventually get a PC I will try out some of the others available on Steam :D

From the games I’ve watched people play I really like SatBK, I also really like SA2 (a common favorite I know lol) I just really love the story behind those games :0

I haven’t seen it in full yet, but from what I HAVE seen I also really like Sonic Unleashed!

Frontiers was one of the first I had seen in full back when it first came out, I feel like that one would be super fun to play and explore around, same with Shadow Generations! I LOOOVE shadow’s doom abilities in Shadow Generations 😫😫 the wings are so freaking cool

But man, choosing an all time favorite is really hard for me right now. Especially since I haven’t played that many myself.. :(

For now I’ll say either say SatBK bc the vibe is just immaculate (though I feel I would be really bad at playing that game XD) or TMoSTH because even if it’s really simple and was an April Fools game, it also really made me emotional because of the mental state I was in when I first played it and it really helped me out a lot /gen

I would *really* love to play SA2 though, I love the story of that game (I am worried that i won’t be able to play it without thinking about RTFandub quotes constantly tho💀💀)

I always lose my mind whenever I see Espilver content that uses Sir Galahad. I have no idea why but it just strikes a very particular spot in my brain that makes me start kicking my feet like a little schoolgirl

I used to have a HUGE SatBK phase for a few months in high school, and it 100% had Sir Galahad at the center of it. Espio not so much, considering he isn't in the game and all and this was well before autumn 2020... But it's just something about the whole knighthood and medieval setting and fighting with cool swords and the amazing-looking armour that gets to me, haha! Isn't there a few posts on Tumblr about Espio accidentally getting yote to Camelot and meeting Sir Galahad/Silver there? An interesting premise, imo ^-^

I wonder what an Espio from Camelot would have been like. Those posts have him as the court poet following TMOSTH if I am not mistaken, but could he also be some kind of knight? He's quite skilled enough with fighting for it, I would say. But he and Sir Galahad can hang out in court together and go training and do missions with the two of them :> I think everyone can easily see these two are very good friends and perhaps a bit more! The other knights surely will be very supportive of them <3

This might just be my bias (I got reintroduced to the franchise during the 4Kids era of dubbing) but post-Colors iterations of him being...too dismissive and excessively cocky? Idk how to properly explain it bc it's not a consistent character flaw, and they definitely tone it down for Frontiers and TMOSTH.

Sonic is self-aware. He breaks the fourth wall in idle animations of several games and scenes from shows, mostly bc he's aware that he's a video game character. But he's chill with it, obvs, and likes going on adventures with the player.

Is that too meta? Lol idk man I have a lot of headcanons.

unpopular opinion

Trying to put him in a canon relationship with anyone is, imo, detrimental to his character. I don't wanna elaborate too much on that bc I know putting him in relationships is fun, I do it too on occasion. I just think this recent attempt of making his canon relationships with his friends more "mature" therefore "romantic" (read: him and Amy in Frontiers and Boom) is not only upsetting to me as an aroace person (maturing doesn't automatically equate to falling in love) but also goes against his original conception from CD.
