An Ode to Augustās Black Turtleneck
A post written for YRFavesFest2024, graciously hosted by @youngroyals-events. This is in response to prompt #32.
credit to @all-things-sigust for the screencap
Augustās black turtleneck is pitch-perfect characterization via costuming.
Why?
Letās start with color, because itās an obvious place to start. August isnāt a straightforward villain, but he plays a villainous role in season one. Villains traditionally wear a lot of black in western media, so it fits in with that aspect of his characterization. This is the part of my post that almost felt silly to write, because itās so obvious, but it must be stated all the same.
Then thereās the high collar. Itās a guarded look, which goes well with August having so many walls up in the first season. It continues with the villain-coding theme by reminding us of vampire capes and other such sinister accessories. For those of you who are also Interview with the Vampire fans, youāll probably be reminded of Armandās turtleneck in season 2 episode 5, which he wears in a scene where heās finally put on the defensive. Young Royals often communicates Augustās vulnerability by showing him naked or half-naked, and what is Augustās turtleneck if not the opposite of his nakedness?
credit to @andthatisnotfake for the screencap
The last thing I want to note about Augustās turtleneck is the striking contrast with his āwhite partyā outfit in season three. August has dramatic character growth over the course of the series (yes, he does) and the costuming team chooses to reflect this in his changing outfits. The first season gives us August in a lot of darker colors as he plays the antagonist. In season 3, as we learn about Augustās past as a victim of the initiations and as someone who wants to change, he wears lighter colors. The guardedness also falls away and we see more open collars. (Not to mention the scene during the sit-in, where August wears a goldish turtleneck and an open white jacket and starts to open upānot all the wayāabout his eating disorder. Conflicted August, perhaps?) What can I say? We love when costuming reflects a character arc!
You should own a black turtleneck too, by the way.
Unless you donāt want to, or you donāt like the way turtlenecks feel. I mean. Whatever. Iām not the boss of you.
(This is the Fashion Notes With Blue section of the post.)
Fun fact: I owned a black turtleneck sweater even before I started watching Young Royals, and I love it. Itās a classic piece I can pair with lots of other wardrobe items, so it feels like a good investment. It also keeps me warm on my winter commutes.
Generally I tend to style my own turtleneck as part of a mod ensemble or dark academia look. Sometimes I pair it with a coral jumper/pinafore dress, leggings, and boots. Other times Iāll try it with a plaid or tweet skirt, and sometimes a blazer or beret. I have a copper-ish raven skeleton necklace that stands out well against it. All of these looks help me to project a certain level of donāt fuck with me, so I wear them on days when I want that for myself.
I always recommend acquiring a clothing item that reminds you of a blorbo, especially when itās a solid, comfortable, and versatile wardrobe staple. Thatās what my black turtleneck sweater is for me.Ā
What are some of your favorite fandom-inspired wardrobe pieces?
This American Girl doll also wanted to model a black turtleneck for this post. If you think she looks like Augustās daughter in an AU fic, no she doesnāt.

A Pink Take on the Capsule Wardrobe
Or: Pieces to consider when building a pink academia-inspired wardrobe Ok, the capsule wardrobe has been defined to death, and I think we all know what it is. Iām not here to reinvent the wheel, Iām just here to paint it pink!
T-shirts: having plain black/white t-shirts and vest tops as well as long-sleeved tops as either a nice basic or an underlayer are all staples, of course. But I want to make room for a few fun t-shirts that have disgustingly obnoxious Bratz-style graphics on them and say things like āAngel.ā Mwah, marvellous, gorgeous, perfection.
Shirts and Blouses: you need a few plain button-up shirts- personally my most-worn are from the menās section. But also, something fun like a pussycat bow or a puffed sleeve adds your own personality to the basic. Obviously, Iām on the hunt for a good pink shirt or too. Skirts and
Trousers/Pants: first of all, jeans are super personal, so you should just choose the cuts and colours that suit you and make you feel the most. But also, something office-appropriate, be it trousers or a pencil skirt, and be it a matching suit/set, is worth having. And you guys know I live for a plaid skirt moment- and plaid trousers are so fun, though I have yet to find my dream pair. We also tend to undervalue the formal short!
Formal Events: having something simple an elegant and a few āniceā pieces for a range of functions is nice and handy, but I think having one or two statment pieces that make you feel like Elle the night she thinks Warner is going to propose (you know, ideally without the heartbreak that came after).
Seasonal Dressing: You absolutely need clothing that suits your environment, and Iām making a point about it because I donāt see it emphasised enough. Pinkify your jumpers by picking a pink argyle sweater vest, or pinkify your sundresses with a hot-pink floral. Own both if thatās the norm for your country.
Shoes: basics usually include a good solid pair of trainers/sneakers/runners/gutties/whatever, doc martens, something office-ready and a sensible heel. I think Pink basics include something with a pearl detail, and/or a disgustingly ankle-breaking Bratz heel.
Coats: I am in full support of making a pink trenchcoat the go-to Pink Academia outerwear.

So my managerās manager wears suspenders, itās his thing (like Pete lol), and itās SUCH a staple in his wardrobe that I dressed like him for Halloween.
Today, our store director called the two of us into her office, and she gave us both a matching plaid pair of suspenders, and weāre wearing them when we close Sunday, but they came with a bow tie, and he says āOh, I canāt do the bow tie, my brother is the bow tie guyā, so I told him he picked a signature look and stuck with it, like how Pete said it, and it even looks like Peteās at the Homecoming dance!!

šSmoshblr December Asks Day 18š
What are your top 3 fave clothes, that you currently own? (can be faves for any reason, like comfort, smth you love to wear on special occasions, etc. š¤)
Bonus: What are your top 3 fave accessories? (like jewelry, belts, bags, etc. š)
oh my god....... this is so hard bc i am a Fashion Girlie. but i digress. have some gpoys as well to showcase the Fits bc i am Proud of Them
the first is this cropped sweatshirt that says practice safe hex. i love her. SO much. i study witchcraft (one day ill practice. one day.) and i think this shirt is so funny and the and when fall hits? im a menace this is all i wear. (bonus shoutout to the patterned jeans in that pic bc they'd probably be my fourth pick for this list i LOVE those jeans.)
second is this brown corduroy skirt!! this is a more recent addition to my closet (i think i got it like last year?) and i wear it all the time. it is sitting on my bed to be put away from the wash rn. it's so cute and simple and goes with so many different things. ive got this outfit i really like to do with it (but no pics of the full thing unfortch) i call my shaggy fit where i wear this with like a lil green tank top sweater combo and its SUCH a cute winter/fall fit. (also this picture peeps one of my weeb tattoos so enjoy xx)
third and finally i cannot believe this is the best picture i have of this stupid thing (censored the face and an identifying landmark in the background LKNFKNSFLKNR) BUT this lil plaid overshirt? i have had that thing since i was literally... 13. so like 12 years and i STILL wear it ALLLLLL of the time. showing my arms makes me Uncomfy so this thing is a lifesaver. and i also wear a lot of plain black clothing so if smth needs a lil spice? ya just throw this bad boy on. plain black dress? plaid overshirt. lil romper? plaid overshirt. plain t-shirt? plaid overshirt. she's everything to me.
OH BOY OH BOY okay so two of these are like. staples to my wardrobe and the other one is. just for fun!
so the first one - my best friend handmade this for my birthday. this is my very own clown collar!!!!!! katie lore drop incoming - i am obsessed with clowns. i have a clown collection and a clown tattoo. so of course when she went to knit me smth she made me this!! i have not had the occasion to wear it but. im manifesting it soon (i will say she gave me this While i was dressed as a clown)
the second picture is of my class rings. (don't worry they've been heavily censored i'm not doxxing myself <3) the lighting is terrible and they also. don't leave my hands so the gems are grody as hell but the gems are blue zircon (my brother and mother's birthstone) and amethyst. im not even like. very proud of being an alumni from my schools but they remind me how hard i fought and all i learned to be where i am today and honestly. i love a ring! i love a ring moment and i wish i wore more so. class rings stick around.
and FINALLY. oh Boy oh Boy. i can talk about this thing for hours. this is my backpack. it is Covered in pins and keychains (spot all my special interests in there....... so many things....) and i take it Everywhere with me. this is actually the Third iteration of this backpack - i had a black backpack that all these pins were on (it broke tragically), then his white backpack had different pins, and now we've moved the black backpack pins onto the white backpack. im a bag enthusiast and a pin collector (i have so many pins....... so many) so i have multiple bags with pins all over them but. these pins are my faves.
ANYWAY. sorry ab being so extra but i love all these things soooo yeah <3<3<3

Shadow and Bone Wardrobe Appreciation
The costumes on both seasons of Shadow and Bone are gorgeous. From hats to suits, Keftas, upturned coat collars, kilts, dresses, and all the plaid and embroidery your heart desires, it's no question the wardrobe department, led by costume designer Wendy Partridge, put their hearts into dressing our Grishaverse characters.
Photo heavy post below.
First up: Giant Collars
This is not so secretly my favorite element of the fashion in the Grishverse. Whether you live in the Barrel, Ravka, at sea, court, or are just trying to keep warm on set when it's freezing, you are guaranteed to have the most obnoxiously large upturned coat collar. Bless.
And this monstrosity...
Keftas:
No question about it, Wendy Partridge brought the Grisha's staple outfit to life through stunning embroidery. (More on that later.) Here is an informative article discussing the Keftas and other costuming in more detail and their historical inspiration.
Cloaks:
How heavy were these things? Doesn't matter. The fur collars and fabric draping are exquisite. And so warm too!
Costume Department Interlude:
Here is a tour of the costume department during the second season led by Jessie Mei Li and Patrick Gibson. Featuring costume designer Wendy Partridge.
Beautiful Embroidery:
Last but not least, let's take a moment to appreciate all of the lovely detailed embroidery designs. This is my other not-so-secret aspect of Grishaverse fashion. Pretty sure there was a point during the show were I stopped watching for the plot and started watching for the embroidery. It's gorgeous. The painstakingly decorated clothing of the Grishaverse are lovingly designed to add color, class, and motifs. Look at this artistry, truly stunning!
This Shadow and Bone wardrobe appreciate collage was so much fun to put together. I found a million and one more photos of our beloved characters. Unfortunately, to put them all in one post would make it waaaaay too long. So I'll make several posts of individual character wardrobes and group wardrobes. Stay tuned!

Looks like there's a special Santa for football and naturally he drives a golf cart like the idiot teens in my neighborhood. Also naturally, he wanted to ally himself with ever more popular holiday of Swiftmas, so he took the Swift family for a ride in his sleigh to today's unfortunate Kansas City football team game.
And Dr. Swift herself wore a green, white, and black plaid skirt.
Taylor Swift Style's eagle eye spotted the exact skirt if you're curious.
Which leads one to wonder....
Does wearing such a skirt represent:
A. Christmas spirit
B. A secret affinity for the Eagles
C. Slytherin house pride
D. Aro pride flag allusion
E. Wardrobe staples from 2008 Hot Topic
Well, it looks like she also wore red, so the answer must be A!!!!!!!!!!!

fat clothes bullshit
As it is a fact universally known that once you hit double-digit sizes, clothing that isnāt fugly, uncomfortable, or both becomes hard to find on almost a logarithmic scale, Iāve always got an eye out for somewhere that doesnāt appear to hate its customers in order to spend my fat fashion dollar.
Most recently, I succumbed to the Universal Standard hype. The tl;dr: it is well-fitted decent quality basics for people of all sizes (from US size 00- 40). Every piece is available in every size -there arenāt differentĀ āplusā styles - and most pieces come in a wide variety of colors.. Itās slightly more expensive than Torrid (about equivalent with Lane Bryant), and unlike either of those options it doesnāt look like 2003 threw up on it and died.
That said, when I say ābasicsā I do mean basic. Thereās some pieces with construction interest to them like the Meridian asymmetric zip jackets, and thereās some tunics and dresses with interesting shapes, but for the most part it is very much wardrobe-staple type items in simple styles and almost zero prints/plaids/pattern of any kind, even just stripes.
In my opinion, thatās perfect because a) I have a deeply ambivalent relationship with girly shit, and b)Ā Iām a scarf/shawl/cowl knitter and a jewelry maker; solid colors are a great canvas for statement accessories. But if your jam is more high femme and print/detail interest than clean-lined bordering on gender neutral (a good amount of their clothing, although sized and tailored for AFAB, could certainly read nonbinary or agender depending on the pieces), you might find it uninspiring. However, you may still want to consider their pants and teesĀ as potential infrastructure to rotate more trendy/dainty pieces around if Torrid or LB is doing that for you now and you donāt love the (lack of) durability.
If any of that sounds like you would like to know more, more specific product reviews behind the readmore.
1) the T-rex/V-rex t-shirts are cotton/modal, soft but heavy enough that I didnāt get bra lines, the colors looked pretty faithful to how they were on screen (enough that I was able to match a pair of pants from another vendor and was still happy when able to physically put the two together) theyāre neither baggy nor mad clingy/revealing, and they donāt feel like the hems will be unraveling and holes growing around the stitching after a season. The V of the v-neck does what it needs to do without showing bra; the crew neck that I was ambivalent about getting (wanted the color but generally donāt like crew necks) is cut wide enough that itās got a little style and doesnāt feel like itās strangling a person. Theyāre both decently long enough to not ride up and expose your back when you bend over/long enough to tuck in if thatās how you roll (I am 5ā²7ā³ for reference). They feel a lot more quality than Torridās basic V-necks and come in a LOT more colors, as long as they wash decently these are worth getting. Keep your eye out for sales.
2) the liquid jersey Genevette top - the fabric is amazing, itās a slinky rayon that for something as soft as it is just falls straight down without sticking weirdly to any lumps, bumps or bulges. Itās an asymmetrical piece that on me at least falls long enough to be a good length to wear with leggings (same place as on the skinnier model displaying it, kudos to the people who graded the pattern and actually knew what they were doing). Iām just praying I donāt dump coffee on it or something. Will definitely acquire more pieces in this fabric if it washes well.
3) The Meridian Zip jacketās two-way zipper is actually metal and heavy. Itās almost pure cotton and more structured than I was expecting; if you are looking forĀ ācozyā this isnāt it. It is however warm, easy to wear and fashion enough to get away with in a business casual environment iif like me, sweaters make you itchy and blazers are annoyingly constricting and sweaty. (the autistic personās go-to office layering piece!) Unfortunately, theyāre out of a lot of colors right now after their Mystery Box event. II hope they restock or add more, I would definitely buy another one in the steel or navy if they had it in my size.
4) The sweats I got as a āmystery bonusā item I think they are the Hathaway Jersey Jogger - annoyingly, any āmysteryā items you get still donāt have what product they are on the tags when you get them. This is dumb, because how are you supposed to order them again if you liked them? Anyway, they are heavy and soft - not fuzzy, but very drapey/silky unlike the Meridian jacket. They DO have pockets and DONāT have a drawstring, which are exactly what Iām looking for in lounge pants, hooray! I donāt know that I would have paid upfront what these cost for something thatās around-the-house or errand pants, but Iāll definitely be keeping my eye out for sales.
5) Universal Standardās claim to fame are their jeans. To get a taste without a huge price commitment, I got a mystery box with some. I think the ones I ended up with are the Seine skinny midrise in dark wash (again, irritatingly, they are not labeled wth a product name because mystery box.) They are true to size (US gives both size measurements and individual product dimension measurements which is super nice), the waistband is not pinchy and nor does it gap in the back, pockets your whole hand fits in and they donāt creep if youāre getting up and down a lot (LOOKING AT YOU TORRID). The real test of jeans of course is how they come out of their first wash, but theyāre a win on try-on and if they wash well, Iād be willing to buy at full price. It gives me some more confidence to try their work pants too, now that I have more faith that their sizing is actually as described.

Series Wrap-Up
Well, here it is, my analysis of Murray's entire wardrobe. Across the 168 episodes he wore 475 outfits, for an average of 2.83 outfits per episode. We can use this to infer that an average episode of Mary Tyler Moore takes place over about a 3 day period, though cataloguing Mary's outfits would probably give better data to back up this inference as Murray is absent in quite a few scenes.
Under the cut is 5 categories of graphs that breakdown Murray's wardrobe for the entire show, seeing which items were worn the most, as well as some trends of his clothing choices through the seasons. There are quite a few graphs, so beware of the length of this post beyond the read more.
Outerwear
Like my season wrap-ups, we'll start with a simple count of the different outerwear types Murray wore. We saw a decrease of cardigan as the series went on, but looking at the data as a whole, cardigans have remained the champion of Murray's wardrobe, with 148 cardigans worn. In a not-so-close second is jackets, ringing in at 111. Notably, Murray wore 41 outfits that did not have a second layer.
This graph shows the trend of Murray's outerwear choices from season to season. For the first 3 seasons, cardigans dominated to an extreme, but this dominance disappears suddenly at the onset of season 4, decreasing by 20 outfits from season 3 to 4, never regaining the stronghold it once had.
The steady upward trend we observes from season to season of jackets is shown nicely on this graph, rising from insignificance into a top contender in the later seasons. Interestingly, this graph also shows the increasing variation of Murray's outerwear choices. Cardigan's overwhelming domination is not picked up by a different type of outerwear even as the numbers of cardigans decreased. A more even distribution between the outerwear types becomes favored.
Lastly, we'll look at a breakdown of Murray's outerwear options, looking at the prevalence of each option throughout the series. The data for the graph is filtered to exclude any outerwear options only worn once.
The clear winner of this graph is the yellow cardigan, worn 34 times, with the entire cardigan family holding strong on repetitions, with the black double breasted cardigan and cornflower blue cardigan each appearing 26 times. The more worn non-cardigan is Murray's casual blue jacket, coming in at a mere 22. Putting this into perspective, however, with 475 total outfits, the yellow cardigan is only a part of 7% of them. Not a single outerwear option is worn more than 10% of the time, which goes to show the depth of his closet and the constant introduction of new outerwear options. In the end, I believe this makes it a very realistic wardrobe, having a handful of outfit staples, while changing it up enough to not be cartoon character-esque. A balance between the two extremes of never repeating an outfit or wearing the same thing every episode.
Shirts
A simple breakdown of the different shirt types Murray wore throughout the show. The category Button Up includes all of Murray's plaid shirts, differing from the Dress Shirt category. The Shirt category is comprised mainly of turtlenecks, as well as everything that didn't have buttons. The N/A category (with two points) is not that Murray did not wear a shirt, but that we could not see the shirt we was wearing under his outerwear.
It's obvious that dress shirts would appear the most, making up 307 of Murray's outfits. Shirts bring home a respectable 64 outfits, with button up making 98 different appearances. Sweaters were seen a meager 4 times, but sweaters were used more as a second layer which alleviates some of the sadness that could arise from thinking Murray only wore 4 sweaters during the show. Combining the sweater-as-outerwear data, Murray wore sweaters 88 times through the show!
It's hard to easily depict the variation of Murray's shirts, which goes to show how many different shirt options he had. This graph excludes everything not worn at least 3 times, yet it was still difficult to fit everything in one graph. That said, the data it reveals is interesting to compare between shirt types.
Both the button up and shirt categories have a shirt option appearing 16 times, respectively the yellow and black paid and the navy turtleneck. This is ten less than the more prominent dress shirt, however, with the lined navy dress shirt appearing 26 times. A few other favorite dress shirts also are seen more than 20 times, such as the light blue , plain blue, and red and white checkered dress shirt. But once again the greatest takeaway from this graph is that Murray had many options at his disposal, not simply wearing the same boring dress shirt episode after episode. He wears a gallery of patterns, from plaid and checkered to paisleys and pokadots. A rainbow of turtlenecks also appeared, though some sadly only worn once and not depicted on this graph, but is grounds this show solidly in the 70s with their prominent and casual appearances, along with the wide collars and all of Mary's outfits of course.
Pants
Moving on to something I have been gathering data on but not analyzing until now: Pants!
This is a distribution of the pants Murray wears throughout the show, categorized by their color. The N/A category means he did not get up from his desk during that scene so we do not know what color pants he was wearing. Out of the 475 outfits worn, Murray remained seated 21.68% of the time, which speaks of the blocking conducted on the show.
I've included the data chart with this graph, depicting the trend of pants as the seasons went on. Keeping Murray seated during scenes decreased in the last two seasons, with only 4 N/A results in season 7, echoing season 1 surprisingly. We can also see the ebb and flow of some of the pants options, with the light grey pants disappearing after season 2, and the brown pants appearing strong in season 4. No pants were worn every season except the grey pants, which grew in popularity as the series went along, peaking in season 5 with 23 appearances. This is a very interesting graph for me, since as I was collecting the data I had no idea the trend of his pants, or how some suddenly disappeared and never returned.
Ties
Another category of data I have been collecting has been if Murray was wearing a tie in each of his outfits. 89% of the time, Murray did not wear a tie, leaving only 54 outfits having a tie.
Per season, this breaks down interestingly, with no ties worn during all of season 2, while season 7 had the highest at 14. I think having Murray not wear a tie in his regular office outfits is a great choice, something that was clearly decided on as Murray did not appear without a tie until the 4th episode of the show. It's a nice and subtle aspect to his character, coupled with the cardigans he wore to build a welcoming and comfortable energy.
This pie chart shows the distribution of the 54 ties worn during the show. A brief description of each tie is given, along with the number of times the tie was worn. At 9 times, the plain black tie was worn the most, with the bowtie and red tie close behind, each at 6. However, most are only worn a few times, which allows a wide variety of ties worn over the mere 54 appearances.
3rd Layer
Last is a graph that shows the 3rd layers Murray wore, either under a shirt or as another outerwear layer. These were all seen as a proper component of a different outfit besides the green corduroy coat, which appeared occasionally from season one to season five. In total, Murray wore an outfit with a 3rd layer 26 times.
And that wraps up the series wrap-up. I want to extend my thanks to everyone who enjoyed this project, or even browsed through this blog. If you've made it to the bottom of this long post, I want to thank you for sticking around. I have enjoyed the project, so much so that I'm (very slowly) working on a website to display Murray's wardrobe. You can find it here: https://murrays-wardrobe.neocities.org/ When I've made significant progress on the website, I will probably post an update to this blog.
Over a year ago, I set out to categorize every single outfit Murray wore and I've finally completed it. It was well worth the journey and resulted in some unexpected results while further solidifying my love of 70's fashion and the Mary Tyler Moore Show. Thank you for coming on this ride with me and don't forget to rock that cardigan, just as Murray did 148 times!

So, Color Theory.
Color is wild and I'm not an expert buut, I did take a class a while ago on it and I'd like to think I've gotten to the point where I can use color to to acheve a certain vibe when I'm styling an outfit.
Idk if yall have noticed, but a I tend to use a lot of similar colors when I plan outfits, especially when it comes to things in my wardrobe. This is on purpose. I've paid attention to which colors I tend to gravitate to when shopping, and in real life and using what I know about myself I've been able to come up with a color palette that I like and can style outfits around.
In the past few years, I've found that I personally vibe with neutrals and pastels, and a lot of the time that leads me towards the more feminine clothes, which suits my taste just fine. Even though I know what colors I like, my wardrobe is filled regular pieces in two staple colors, black and white. These colors are a good way to break up a busy outfit and give the eye a place to rest, but too much can easily change the vibe of an outfit so be aware.
This idea of being proportional with color is one that I use a lot. Take my outfit Soda Pop for example:
This outfit is edgy and chic, but why?
First off, you got the contrast from black and white, back taking up most of the color ratio. The difference is already sharp, and good color placement on the garments themselves make it so that its inclusions highlights details that might otherwise have gone unnoticed (ex: the white seams on the pants)
Now, notice that the only color here is coming from the accessories. We could have just continued the black and white theme with the accessories (and that could have slapped too dont get me wrong) buuut throwing the smallest hints of orange in a few places around the fit is such a big brained move. This is cause now you not only have contrast between Light and Dark but also you've got this extra layer of Color Saturation to play with. Those accessories could be any color as long as they a) were vibrant as heck and
b) showed up more than once/or included a bit of white or black to tie it in with the rest of the fit.
An outfit that does the opposite of this is Stay Frosty:
This outfit also only has 3 colors (4 if you count gold) but the vibes of this one are a lot softer than Soda Pop, and that's partially because palette shift.
The use of black is majorly toned down here and is only really found in the shoes and the necklace as an accent. The primary colors here are white and a dark blue, and the way they come across are actually quite different as well.
First of all, we have some blending happening with the introduction of grey, both on the sweater and in the plaid on the skirt. Opening up this middle zone makes the palette seem a lot softer because there is less contrast between tones, and what contrast there is, is lessened in a gradient.
Secondly, and I'm going to nitpick here: that white is not actually white. It's an off-white grey, one that compliments well with the off-white in the plaid design. The color is pastel, and is less vibrant than a true bone-white, adding to the soft girl vibe by toning down the vibrancy of our main color.
An easy way to seem more put together is to pay attention to the undertones in your clothes, especially your neutrals. Using a warm toned white in an otherwise cool toned fit throws the vibe. It'll be subtle, but once you start noticing I stg it's so hard to go back. I have a cute cardigan that's a victim of this rn cause it's a an off-white with and undertone of *warm green* and it clashes with most of my wardrobe because I'm a cool toned green gal.
So yeah, color theory. It's all about how much you want to contrast your darks, lights and color vibrancy. It's also about finding colors that compliment eachother, but I'll post on that later, this ones long enough.

It's time to start thinking about your wardrobe for fall/winter transitional weather. With the weather not to be trusted, having cold-weather clothing is simply a way of life. Many of our favorite autumn pieces are available cross-seasonally, making them smart staples to invest in at any time.
All of the items you'll find in the outfits below can be easily mixed and matched, allowing you to create many versions of these fall classics. And basics don't have to be boring. You can mix brighter colors with the fall leaf color wheel that has dominated this season.
Ā Trench coat + loafers + neutral jersey
When it comes to British wardrobes, a trench coat is a quintessential staple. Of course, there are plenty of simple options to go with any outfit, but we also love trench coats with different design details, like these plaid panels.
Chunky sweater + jeans + cowboy boots
Cowboy boots have continued to be big news since they were all the rage last year. It's worth investing in a standout pair if you can find them, as they wear out quickly.
Blazer + jeans + boots
Can you ever go against an outfit check of jeans and a blazer? The answer is no. Check out Sylvie Mus and consider colorful tailoring in your search for the perfect blazer. This shade of blue is perfect.
