A question for Martlet, Starlo and Ceroba (and Dalv too, I guess). How do you all feel about the barrier breaking and that Clover’s sacrifice payed off? How do you feel about the fact the last human didn't have to sacrifice themselves to accomplish it? (Obviously asking before they find out that Clover revived).

I'm Incredibly angry at the fact that Clover can't be here with us. I get this bittersweet feeling about us being free, but I don't think I even have the right to be upset as I tried to take Clover's soul too. I'm incredibly grateful to have Kanako back, but I have so many regrets that I need to make up for. I don't think I'd ever be able to meet the child who decided to free us, I wouldn't be able to handle it.

Being on the surface for the first time was amazing! I miss them so much, it's been so long, and since we never got any photos of them all of my attempts at capturing their likeness feels... inaccurate. Clover was a good kid and I kiiiiiiinda wished we were smarter, able to come up with an actual solution that could have kept them alive.

Well, eating surface food was interestin'! We'll be movin' there in a coupla' months when the queen gets things sorted out with the humans. I'm glad the deputy didn't die for nothing, proud of them, really. The deputy was great, and me n' the gang miss 'em. I've met that Frisk kid that freed us, gave me the old cowboy hat we gave up. We spoke a bit and they're a great kid. . .

For the Kept Alive AU, since we see the other souls in the intro pic how does Chujin feel about them? Also, what about Clover when they join the club?

Oh Chujin hated them all when he “died” and woke up there.

Especially Melody (blue soul)

But over time…

The started to understand that this were just children… And he started to get close to them… He talked to them…

He entertaining them…

(I have a headcanon that Chujin has ice magic. Just because he’s very connected to Snowdin… And also Ninetales…)

And taking care of them…

(The souls lost their equipments before dying so they don’t have any of them in the void. So Hope (purple soul) can’t see very well because she doesn’t have her glasses. So Chujin gave her his.)

Chujin was already in good terms with the souls when Clover join. So he was very friendly towards Clover… But then he found out that Clover had met Ceroba and the others… Let’s say that he wanted to know how everyone was doing… So he and Clover talked for a while…

So in short… Chujin has grown attached to the souls…

Last but not least, inspirations. hooo boy this is a doozy

Firstly i wanna say i was inspired to make a comic specifically because of older ut comic dubs (Christmas party, handplates, Aftertale, etc) along with Scott Pilgrim and @akanemnon’s Twin Runes comic! (check them out i love twin runes a lot!!!)

The idea for the au is really just “What if the humans were monsters and the monsters were humans?” or, also “what if the (former) monsters were on the surface and the (former) humans were underground?” Classic Overtale plot!

Going in order, starting with AXIS, he’s actually one of the newest designs! i made him in my german class last week („•v•„U ) I wanted Axis to have a design change but remain a robot, maybe being more humanoid due to being made by a human! Changed his pipes and light bulb into what resembles hair and his wheel into roller blades!

Next up, Ceroba! i’ll be honest, i really don’t like Cerobas canon design that much. Love the colors but the short skirt and boots are not it, especially if she’s intended to be a more traditional japanese character. Like she’s not a magical girl, she’s in her 30’s?? Anywho, i made her prominently orange instead of pink (again, magical girl) along with lightening natural hair due to age and stress!

Clover. Clover Clover Clover!!! what do i even say about this precious little pup?! :3

I guess i could start with them being a Kitsune, of course, being switched with the Ketsukanes. Seeing as Ceroba is a mother and is often portrayed as taking a motherly role to clover, i figured a kitsune would fit them nicely! Along with being a cute, fun to draw, and curious troublemaker! I always like to remind myself that Clover’s just a kid.

Next up, Star! or, in this au, Stanley Sterling, the performative sheriff of a humble little town! i decided to switch up his poncho a little, for the sake of changing his design, gave him chaps (i like to call em pantaloons hoohoo!) and teal tassels for days! He’d prolly know more about cowboys than canon Starlo because, yknow, he lives on the surface!

Ah Martlet, or now, Marlette! but most just call her Marley. She has ~4 different outfits planned, a cozy, aviator style one for “Snowdin”, a sleeveless shirt with her flannel round her waist and a bandana for “the Dunes” and that flannel over her shoulders for “New Home”! along with a tee and pj’s for the epilogue. Her outfit is easy to manipulate so it only stays the same so often. Also, talon boots! ;]

And Dalv! Poor fella stayed a monster for the plot 😿 but i changed his design so he’s got a jacket similar to the one he has in Snowdin in uty but a whole lot smaller lol, along with a Batty pendant, a red vest and shoes and carved down horns! poor fella :(

RAHHH OKAY SO im trying to draw the main bunch in my style,, dalv is last as much as i adore him bc i wanna redraw the first uty drawing i did but with an updated style and different designs!

so Ceroba's first!! Well. Clover and the fallen humans were first but i digress. I know I wanted to add more details, especially to the clothes. There's nothing wrong with her inital design but I like details and there wasn't much detailing to work with there.

I looked up references of kimonos bc i believe her outfit is based on em? All the refs were pretty long, down to like their feet whereas ceroba wheres these big knee-high boots and a much shorter one. I stuck with that and just went along with the idea. Kimonos typically have patterns and I was gonna do some of the more like?? active ones?? the ones that show up most like cranes and such but I decided to look through kitsune symbolisms and the like.

A lot of kitsune things revolved around clouds and lots of swirly lines, especially on the masks themselves. I implimented that. her sleeves have a thin line of swirls around the ends and her kimono has lots of clouds.

I added more details to the boots because they felt so plain with that design I had so I went for a pointed shape with more pink and a gold line along the sides to it in. I also went with a pointed shape because?? I see a lot of like. crystal shapes with kitsune stuff? like diamond shapes so I figured it was a subtle nod. Her staff felt bland and boring now so I added the ends of the ribbon/loose parts and tied it around the staff into a bow. It was just to give it more flair.

The insides of her sleeves have this ombre of orange like a sunset almost is what i was aiming for. Kept the sleeves long bc it was typical with kimonos. I gave her this dark undershirt that goes to her wrists and up to a bell collar. In her sprite she has this yellow on her neck that matches the bells she wears but i never see art of her with a bell collar??? I dont think a lot of people notice.

I dont think in the years her and Starlo have known eachother that he wouldnt give her something to wear as an accessory. I think it could have started as a little pin or a clip for her hair before she put it on the bow on her kimono. Not much else changed aside from I darkened the tips of her ears and added dots to blend it in, her hair is naturally pink-tipped but ofc it becomes a fiercer brighter shade in her fight in true paci, and her bow in her hair has a clasped end with another smaller bell.

I HADNT THOUGHT OF THIS but ur so right!! i think they would have some of everyones attacks but have their own special clover spin on it

ceroba: the flower attack she has but instead theyre clovers

martlet: their wings grow bigger and they get martlet’s feather attacks that explode into stars

I feel like most fans would describe Clover as this independent person who's got their stuff together and can handle anything, but these people often forget that Clover didn't start out like this.

Just like Starlo, Clover was only pretending to be a hero. This kid initially was clumsy and had a poor sense of the physical world, when you remember how they died at every turn.

The thing about them is that they subconsciously become more skilled the more they die, and the more Flowey resets. That's why Clover doesn't seem like a scared, clumsy kid when we first meet them. Because they've experienced so many resets, over a hundred, and died so many times, they now appear more "put together."

But even with all that being said, Flowey still has to encourage them to believe in themself more and not to be afraid of a new place (specifically Snowdin). He still has to lift Clover's spirits and he still asks them why they have a "long face" during their "first" encounter.

I've been trying to figure out whether or not I've typed Clover correctly, so I decided to do something else and compare them to Frisk. Now, we don't know how old Frisk is, but we can assume that all the fallen children were in a similar age range.

The thing is, Frisk had a way better sense of navigating the Underground. They had a better sense of direction, and unlike Clover, didn't die during the easiest possible fights (and especially the lasers in Hotland).

I like to think that, in some of the previous runs, Clover met Alphys, and she explained to them what to do, but they became paralyzed with fear and/or forgot that they simply had to run through the orange lasers. I guess that would mean Clover's more "flighty" than most fans think.

Heck, even here they tend to zone out (it's their 100+ run, so I suppose it's an innate trait):

It wasn't Clover's personality that got them this far, but circumstances, aka Flowey. Without him intervening, they'd still be sheltered and safe, they wouldn't have become fearless enough to deal with so much stuff, and especially willingly die in the end (I feel like Clover never really knew just HOW brave they are beneath the naivety and clumsiness, and they brought the toy gun to only FEEL brave).

Again, what they needed was efficency and an idea on HOW to put their plan of saving the kids into action. Clover was always altruistic, but they were also clueless and clumsy and insecure and afraid of danger. That's why they had decided to stay with Toriel. Because their fear had stopped them from acting upon what they believed was the right thing to do.

Frisk didn't need THIS many resets. They even managed to defeat geno Undyne and Sans WITHOUT Flowey "guiding them along." Flowey saw Clover as so weak that he offered them Friendliness Pellets (minus in Pacifist 'cause Ceroba's there + she also gave Clover extra defense)

Those with Ti/Se (ISTPs) are grounded and adaptable, whereas Clover literally had to be forced into dangerous situations to become more "capable" of dealing with the Underground.

Yeah, Clover always had this inferior Te (this leadership quality), when you remember that they wanted to "realize their plan," but it was really REALLY poorly developed. That's pretty much what got them to chicken out. They had no clue what to do, and they didn't want to die.

It hits even harder when they do just that in the end.

Starlo Kicks

I repainted my tennis shoe flats :3!! They are inspired by Starlo, but vague enough that they’ll go with various outfits, just being blue and gold.

The toes of the shoes, tongue flaps, and edges are blue. The backs, around the laces, and front stars are gold. Smaller stars are painted around the back in blue.

The laces were dyed yellow & orange, and I added celestial pendants to them.

Before & after comparison of the detail work. Before the trim was done, the front stars were also much more fuzzy. I personally liked the fuzzy look a lot, but wanted it to match the crisp back stars.

Starlo (from Undertale Yellow) and Westerntale Dust meet.

Cw: It's Dust, so there's violence warning. Also Dust has a pretty sharp dagger :D

( No explicit violence, though. Just the threat of it. )

The sand glittered under the vibrant, orange rocks illuminating The Dunes. A quiet town sat within the desert, filled with people going about their days- none the wiser to the new figure approaching from the south atop his spectral, skeletal horse.

Starlo grinned at an offhand comment Mooch had made, only to freeze when a cold, unnerving presence settled among them- undeniably the air of danger tearing through the peaceful atmosphere.

His eyes widened beneath the darkness his hat cast, locking gaze with the singular red eyelight glowing from beneath the absolute void of a shadow wreathing the skeleton's upperface.

Dust tilted his head slowly, reaching up to tip his hat down the slightest in greeting. Those gloved hands shimmered an unnatural silver- what could only be the exact shine of monster dust.

He can feel Mooch stiffen to his side, casting a quick glance around to see if she can spot the other three monsters missing from the crew to no avail.

In fact, he can feel himself tensing, a tremor running through his SOUL at the pure power this newcomer must hold.

When Dust steps forward, he has to stop himself from stepping back- instead forcing himself into the role of what he'd been acting as for the past week or so; North Star, Sheriff of the Wild East.

"What's your business here?" Starlo asks, stepping forward with a hand hovering over his revolver.

Dust neglects to respond. A shockwave of cold bursts through the air before the skeleton stands before him, the red eyelight (looking vaguely as if it was melting) in his socket looking more akin to the bloody red of his scarf. When it falls down enough, Starlo can clearly see the sharp, amused grin Dust is sporting.

He freezes at the feeling of a gloved hand grabbing his left wrist- his gun hand.

"wouldn't do that, 'f i were you."

The words are whispered in a low timbre- the rough baritone carrying an edge sharper than the dagger being gently pressed into his stomach area.

Mooch stumbles backwards. Starlo's breath catches.

Who was this guy?

After Undertale Yellow people started to care about the human children again.

One thing that I love about Yellow is that it explains how Clover's items got to the dump. And it also kind of explains why Integrity items were hidden.

So I started to think about the other children's items… And I realized that Bravery is like the one with the weirdest item locations.

Like... Perseverance's items are found in Gerson shop. Gerson being the old captain of the royal guard could have killed Perseverance.

Kindness's items are just out in the open in Hotland. Could have just die to a random monster or on of the Royal Guards since RG 01 and RG 02 roam the area. And their items just got scattered around.

Patience is kind of weird since since they were the first human they most likely have the power to save since, according to Undertale, the being with the most Determination can save and load. Meaning that Patience could save and just wasn't able to defeat Asgore and leave the underground and just gave up. And their items were somehow sent back to the Ruins. My theory is that Asgore knows that Toriel lives in the Ruins, and she probably got attached to the child that he just killed. So he sent Patience's items to Toriel. And they got scattered around in the Ruins because of the annoying dog that eats Toriel's phone was a pest.

But Bravery is the weirdest... First of all, Bravery's weapon is the only human soul item that can be found in two locations. In the dimention box and Snowdin Shopkeeper shop.

And second of all, it is super weird that QC has those items in the first place.Like... Bratty and Catty explain where they got their items, and Gerson is a strong candidate to be Perseverance killer. But QC is just a random monster. Heck, we only found out her name in Deltarune. And she's the only shopkeeper who doesn't have a name in Undertale.

Okay… The first part about Bravery's weapon makes kind of sense, since the weapon's name is Tough Glove, that means it's only one glove. So box lover has one glove, while QC has the other.

It's just that box lover and QC are such random monsters that makes me wonder how Bravery journey went. Were box lover and QC Bravery's friends? Like Marltet, Starlo, and Ceroba to Clover. Who is box lover for that matter? If all the dimentional boxes are connected why didn't Clover find the Tough Glove in their adventure?

Whoever is trying to create Undertale Orange, good luck explaining this.

Look, Starlo is just THAT charming. He can charm both the King of Hell AND an Orange guy with a green hat who travels through outer space at the same time. Honestly, who can blame them?

Redesigning Starlo NEO

All right, I haven't had time to put my thoughts together properly, but I do have some ideas about Starlo's NEO forms (or Zenith or Super forms, if you prefer).

1st Phase: Shooting Star

His first phase should not be call Sirius, he is the North Star, and the real name for the North Star is Polaris. Sirius is a completely different star, in a different constellation. I get the joke that he's become a "Serious Starlo," but that's the wrong star, he shouldn't be called Sirius at all.

I think his first phase should be called "Shooting Star," because he's literally a STAR who SHOOTS. Like, duh???

As for his design:

Yellow is actually a mid-temperature star. Based on Starlo's reactions to the Showdown boss fight, I feel like he's someone who would act cool and calm in a real, serious fight to the death. He'd have to be in order to even shoot straight. So his 1st NEO form would probably be a cooler, reddish-orange temperature. Like he's staying calm and giving you an opportunity to give up before he really starts to fight.

His lasso is on fire and burns you when he whips you. And his bullets are made of fire. Every hit has a potential to give you burn damage that lasts for a few turns, or a potential for smoke damage that leaves you unable to breathe, reducing your speed.

2nd Phase: Polaris

Much as I like the name Hypernova for Starlo, I think the North Star should get to shine under the name Polaris, yeah? But he doesn't look humanoid anymore. He still has arms and legs, but his torso and face are replaced by an intense ball of bluish-white light.

His bullets are made of plasma and deal electrical damage. His lasso looks like a streak of bluish-white lightning. If you get caught in it, you get electrocuted and can't move until he un-whips you.

3rd Phase? Singularity

We could give him a 3rd NEO phase (because why not, I mean, Ceroba got a 3-phase fight, even tho ASRIEL DREEMURR himself only got 2, but if Ceroba gets a 3rd, then why can't Starlo?).

This is a desperate, last-ditch move on Star's part and will kill him if he has to stay in this phase for more than a few minutes. Hypernova has used up most of his energy and in order to continue the battle, he has to collapse in on himself. He basically becomes a small black hole. He is no longer able to hold onto a lasso. He has become a living gravity well in order to drag you in. His bullets are pure radiation, no longer being shot from a gun, but from his own body. He will only use this phase if a battle comes to point of "if I'm going down, I will drag you down with me." This kind of attitude goes against his own nature, and is something he will only use if faced with an enemy that poses a threat to all man- and monster-kind.

You can't see anything left of him but two, small, burning, white eyes, and the rainbow-colored tips of the five points of his head. The rest of him has become a black, empty void.

So when would he even use this?

Well, as we've already seen, Star doesn't use this in a Geno run. I have a lot of thoughts on this that need to go into a proper analysis post, but for now, I'll just say that he doesn't even start to develop his other phases until after the events of UTY. Because until the end of a True Pacifist run (that is, sparing Ceroba), Starlo never comes to a full understanding of Justice. He has a messed-up idea of Justice that he got from combining his movies with his monster upbringing. Clover is the one who teaches him that Justice must be combined with MERCY, or else it isn't Justice at all, it's just judgement.

So Star probably would use these phases on dangerous criminals after reaching the surface.
