I yap so much about the comic and the importance i find in its contents but i hope when i write dirk or jake or rlly any of them it doesnt come off as me dumbing them down😭

I know the core internal mechanisms at which they all operate from otherwise i wouldnt understand why they even do what they do and why they speak how they do since that is so crucial to analysis of their behaviour and Why they were written.

But i mostly write silly scenarios so the deeper messier parts dont get to show much😭 working on deeper things tho rest assured i am locking in🫡🫡🫡

I try to match the tones of how i believe the characters would act continuing off the ending of homestuck. With dirk and jake specifically i try to write them to where they still both kinda dont say everything they need to but they dont have the weight of narrative destiny on their shoulders anymore so they can admit they like spending time together and have actually confessed like normal people and got out those apologies they kept yammering on about in the last half of act 6

I try to reinvoke the ridiculous nature of the one time we really see the real dirk and jake talk (which was actually a dreambubble memory. jake is so gay.) but i try to make it feel how that did, they really do love spending time together and just being weird and cringe and bantering about stupid shit ❤️(the most we see dirk type laugh in the comic)

I feel like the Best Bros part of dirkjake kinda gets lost alot of the time considering THEY NEVER SPEAK DIRECTLY (which is insane that hussie could craft this universe bending gender norm shattering yaoi with no fucking interactions wtf anyway) but there is alot you can gleam from jakes interactions with hal and this one log to tell us how they usually speak

Dirk always veers into making homoerotic comments because.. i dunno he might have feelings for jake or something whos to say. and when jake presses him dirk immediately diverts. I think from being around dave and everything daves realised thats bullshit about masculine standards and heroism that let him have a healthier relationship to masculinity, hearing abt that would loosen dirk up about Actually being affectionate to jake

But hes still somehow trying to no homo his way out of things that are incredibly homo just in a subtler way, not immediately going “Haha, what? I never said that. Anyway.” (Its both out of his fear for what his true identity means about him as a man but also because he doesnt think he deserves to get such affections cough thinks himself an evil)

And jake was always going with the flow. If his friends socially decreed something as okay to talk about then the fucking damn burst open and he couldnt keep it in anymore but they had to Very Clearly Clarify with him about it. So i think dirk going down a more positive road would lead jake there too seeing that if its okay for dirk to be less restrictive with his feelings jake can be too.

The Epilogues has a highly specific premise and was being manned by caliborn and calliope 2.0 cranked to the max in the deranged fanfic behaviour so. Of course it would not be a healthy environment for characters to grow💀 anyone who takes it as full confirmation about how theyd act or become as adults and ignores the fact of its premise Being “Homestuck but Sick and Twisted; The Fanfiction” is kind of stupid its like saying homosuck was in character. Ofc everybodys lives goes to shit because the two running the show dont know how the hell to be good puppeteers 😭

Said it on twitter but you can tell how much a dirk hates himself based on his relationship to a jake. Because tho ult dirk wouldnt ever admit it jake is dirks anchor of self worth just as dirk is jakes. When they show compassion and kindness to one another its a step closer to self acceptance because Jake is quite frankly a living embodiment of EVERYTHING that is “wrong” (queer, cringe, sincere, feminine) about Dirk to himself in his saviour complex surrounding manhood. (See Everything caliborn says about jake) jakes always waiting for dirk. If dirk were to step down and admit his own humanity itd mean hed have to accept he is capable of growing and isnt inherently evil, and jake would be ready to embrace that about himself too

Anyway all that to say. Even in my simple silly writing i at least do try to retain dirk and jakes strange emotional dodging olympics but also its just on a smaller level since theyve inching their way to fully internalising that Its Okay to be Cringe and Gay Together❤️ because the World isnt Ending anymore. Its in the little things they dont say because haha im the one who makes them say words.

tbh, i do have the semblance of a character arc for tim if n52 hadn't happened. while i love the notion of him going full civilian, the way red robin ends gives me very little hope that that's something he'll be able to do... :(

in my ideal world, bruce finishes setting up batman inc. and everybody can kind of relax a little about saving gotham.

tim ends up moving to san francisco full time after dick basically drags him out by the ear. they have a long and exhausting conversation where dick is the biggest hypocrite in the world and tells tim how important it is to have a life outside of the mask. tim alludes to how wearing red robin during brucequest often felt like some weird kind of self-imposed biblical punishment but it was the only thing keeping him tethered to the world. there's a painful segue into how tim had no back up plan for saving his own life after ra's threw him out of the window and dick tells him that tim can't do that to him because he'll always catch tim but what if one day, he can't? tim needs to have something to live for outside of vigilantism bc neither of them want to end up as obsessive and fucked up as bruce.

also rlly want a conversation between bruce and tim about him buying the monarch theatre apartment. it goes... poorly. but things do settle down between bruce n him when tim says he's considering college.

he ends up taking a few introductory classes at a community college in SF, spends a lot of time skateboarding and trying to reconnect to photography. prolly sets up a west coast HQ for neon knights. some absolutely unmatched pathetic-boy-rizz from him with tam as she helps in sorting some of that out.

he and cassie spend time lazing about in the tower and talking about how kon and bart are back but it can still feel like a dream sometimes. they probably end up getting young justice going again. rlly need some unmatched homoerotic vibes going on with lonnie, who gives tim intel in the weirdest ways possible. also rlly want a long-term plot where he and prudence work together again to deal with some loa bullshit where they both are trying not to betray each other and they end up succeeding because of the power of friendship <3

six months in, tim kinda feels too far away from gotham so he ends up moving to new york bc it's closer to gotham but he's still not as entrenched in the bruce of it all. definitely takes classes at hudson even if he can't commit to college full time (peak little brother behaviour to follow ur brother's footsteps). bruce only sighs in exasperation bc none of his kids are going to finish college— he still has hope for damian, tho.

maybe he hunkers down to finish getting a degree, maybe he doesn't. but i can definitely see him going into outreach work of some sort— he has great people instincts! if he doesn't put his foot in his mouth, he's soooo likeable and endearing. rlly like your idea of him becoming a part-time biomedical engineer... he canonically enjoys fiddling with tech and gear. my top pairing is probably Vic Sage/the Question. Vic is the basic answer, but man. i love them so much. no couple has matched each other's freak like that have. Justice League Unlimited is a great adaptation of Helena in general, but it also did a great adaptation of Helena and Vic's relationship. how he just dedicates himself to helping her with no expected return, but also wants to make sure she doesn't go too far in a hunt for vengeance that never ends for her. i think a lot of characters often want to change Helena or expect things out of her for their own needs, like the Batfam and the BoP. but Vic is one of the few people who just wants her to be better for her own good. when he tries to stop her from killing it's not because of his morals, it's because he doesn't want this crusade to consume her. and i just. man i think about them a lot. Helena rlly likes weird little men who give themselves wholly to her.

Zinda Blake/Lady Blackhawk is also a top ship for me. tbh i just like Zinda. but i do love how Helena and Zinda interact, being the more rough and tumble members of the BoP. they're both outsiders, in different ways. Helena is an outsider of the Batfam and Zinda is literally from a different time and an outsider to the current world. their friendship is so genuine and i think if Babs and Dinah can have. whatever homoerotic nonsense going on during BoP, then Zinda and Helena deserve some homoerotic nonsense too. as a treat.

if we're willing to count New-52 Helena, then i enjoy Helena/Dick/Tiger. i think Helena and Dick being a past relationship is really important in pre-Flashpoint for Helena's development, though i don't ship them as a serious couple beyond a fling. but in the New-52, i think this throuple be fun. Helena and Tiger respect each other as two very driven, no-nonsense agents and then well. they both clearly have some kind of thing for Dick. so it's fun finding the balance of how they could all work together romantically.

and ofc. it's a crime to mention Helena ships and not mention Renee Montoya/the Question. every time they interact it's really fucking gay. it's so gay that Kate Kane, Renee's own ex, assumed Helena and Renee were gay. i cannot be convinced against this ship. i genuinely think this ship should be canon. i mean. DC did tease us with this moment from an alternate universe and it's lived rent for me since. fucking criminal for us to only get one panel of what we could have if DC let Helena be a fruit in the main universe. being in love with Helena Bertinelli should be a right of passage for the Question mantle, i personally believe. if you asked me like. genuinely who i want to see Helena date in the current comics, Renee is my top pick. (i would say Vic but he's fucking dead and the New-52 butchered him so rip my mans-)

besides those ships, just about every ship for Helena probably falls into the category of rarepair. like you said i've talked about my love for Helena/Steph before bc god. i think it should be a thing more people ship. once i finish the fic i'm writing about them i will convince others to like it.

i also think Helena/Cass could be fun. in a *lot* of ways Helena and Cass are narrative parallels to each other. Helena was a victim of her family being murdered at about the same age Cass was forced to be a murderer. Helena grows up to believe in lethal justice because of this, and Cass grows up to be staunchly against it. Cass' Batgirl suit was made *by* Helena. they both want to be protectors of the most vulnerable people. they balance each other out in a lot of ways and i think they should kiss about it.

also probably a rarepair, i think Helena/Lady Shiva is fun. their fight during Birds of Prey (2010) had... questionable moments for Helena's characterization, but i do love so much that Helena knocks Shiva off her feet and gains a deep respect from Shiva. like. Shiva gives her a nickname and shows her admiration. i would like to see fanfic where Shiva continues to be weirdly admirable of Helena and bothering her non-stop. they could be a fun fucked up toxic yuri moment. this is just. so gay to me.

my most rare Helena pair would probably be Helena Wayne, actually. but specifically Helena Wayne of JSA (2022). ever since, for some reason, it was made canon that the current Helena Wayne was named after Helena Bertinelli and took the name Huntress to honor her i *cannot* stop thinking about them meeting. because in-universe it makes *no* fucking sense for Bruce to name his kid after *Helena Bertinelli*, someone he's regularly at odds with and doesn't like. it's clearly an awkward explanation to try to make the whole two Huntress situation make sense. (it's almost as bad as Helena Wayne in the New-52 using Helena Bertinelli as an alias.) but because it's such an odd choice, i do think it could be fun for Helena Wayne, when she's back in time to see Bruce, to find Helena Bertinelli to get to know the woman she was named after and Helena Bertinelli just being. baffled by the idea of *Batman* naming his kid after her. it could be a fun fucked up moment.

my other super rarepair is Kara Zor-L/Power Girl. they had like. one meaningful interaction of JSA Classified and it's been PLAGUING me. something about when Power Girl doesn't remember her past and she's seeking a friend, she instinctively goes to find Huntress? but it's wrong bc this isn't *her* Huntress and neither of them understand why Power Girl would seek Helena out? god it's so good. i'm always a big fan of ships where one person in the ship is *so* obviously using the other person as a replacement for someone they lost and they both know it. it's such a doomed angsty thing where you could play with Helena actually really liking Kara, but knowing that she's just a replacement for Kara's Helena Wayne. good fucked up shit man.

and lastly: i really ship her with Dawn Granger/Dove. there's no canon basis for this, they didn't have a ton of interactions even when they were both on the BoP. but there's a very kind innocence to Dawn that contrasts Helena's violence really well. and i do love a ship with a corruption kink vibe to it. let Helena corrupt Dawn. i could write such fucked up porn about these two.

they're from the winter troupe of the mankai company, and unlike the other troupes they're all adults. that said, they all have varying degrees of trauma and emotional stuntedness. it takes them some time to fully open up to each other bc they're all very cautious of each other's boundaries and don't want to cross any lines which initially led to some issues in the group's formation. over time they've learned to bridge the gap while still being mindful of hard boundaries. at one point they have a discussion about what exactly their relationship is (gay) cuz they were talking about how the other troupes have clearly defined dynamics (spring=family, summer=besties, autumn=rivals & teammates) but they don't,, and homare deadass says they're "people bound by a common destiny" which in and of itself sounds very Gay (like why are you as a man bound to other men by a common destiny), but it goes even further because homare starts spouting WEDDING VOWS: "In sickness and in health, for better or for worse, we shall share our laughter and our tears as those with an intertwined fate... How beautiful we are!" THIS IS A DIRECT QUOTE FROM THE GAME AND THE MC EVEN REMARKS "i can already hear wedding bells in the distance..." 

gradually they become closer, in individual sub-units based on who's paired up as co-leads for a play, and as a troupe overall. also two of its members are childhood friends who had a messy 'divorce' in their young adulthood and it took the game breaking its genre to introduce a timeloop for them to finally make up if that means anything to you. one of their troupe songs "precious to us ~bokura no kisetsu" has some pretty beautiful and fruity lines: "The many kindnesses born in me here / Never fail to breathe life into my chest / Even all the pain and bitterness / Have now become dear to me (Ah…Stay with me)", "No matter how many times our season passes / Let us keep living together / Holding our hands, without ever letting go / Let us open up the curtain of tomorrow", "There is no need for words, because once our gazes meet / Joy sparks a light in your eyes", "Our journey, may it be a brilliant one / As our breaths overlap as one"

a lot of their plays has a LOT of homoerotic tension between the two leads too. their first play has tsumugi and tasuku play angels, and it's heavily implied that tasuku's character has an unrequited crush on tsumugi's character. their third play has azuma play a vampire and tasuku play Just Some Guy and it's generally agreed in the fandom to be one of the gayest, if not THE gayest, play A3 has ever written. obviously the vampire thing is very fruity, but there's also how the vampire was longing to bite the human but was holding himself back, and when the vampire left the human in the end, the human was absolutely HEARTBROKEN over it and was swearing they would reunite one day. the stage play of this takes it even further by having the vampire embrace the human from behind and BITE his neck. the fourth play is a watered-down adaptation of Phantom of the Opera where they genderbend Christine into Chris among other things and change the relationship between Chris and the Phantom to one of friendship.... ostensibly so, because there's still a lot of homoerotic undertones in their interactions. i could go on but this should be enough of a sampling taste

the writers rlly said "let's take 2 normal guys who are childhood friends and have been into theatre since their school days and have them go through a pre-canon messy divorce, an eccentric poet with a potentially controversial haircut, an amnesiac sleepyhead who can only be awoken with marshmallows but is also somehow extremely athletic despite doing nothing but sleeping and eating marshmallows all day, a man who is so beautiful and mysterious he breaks gender, and a supposed android from a fictional south asian country, and throw them into a blender, oh and for good measure let's throw in some theatre and angst and gay and angst and gay" and the end result was marriage. i mean it took them a lot of awkward fumbling around and conflicts to get there but they got there and thats what matters. ok *technically* in-text they're all rlly good friends and kinda found family BUT they are found family via marriage papers i do not make the rules chief

Submission 3:

The reason why they are so friends-to-lovers to me is because their relationship is founded on quiet and unconditional acceptance of each other—regardless of how flawed they may be or how heavy their burdens and trauma may be. When the troupe first formed (sans Guy who was in another country at the time), they didn’t have any major clashing personalities at the very beginning and generally they were mindful of each other’s boundaries, unlike the other troupes that came before them. However, it’s BECAUSE they were too mindful of said boundaries that it was difficult for them to break down their walls and bond as a team—and there were a LOT of walls to break down, as all of them had varying degrees of emotional baggage and trauma.

In fact, it’s only three plays in that they finally truly start opening up to each other, with Azuma getting the ball rolling by opening up about the deep loneliness that haunted him ever since his childhood. It’s during this conversation that they also discuss what their relationship as a troupe is, because the other troupes have defined their relationship as a team (Spring is family, Summer is best friends, Autumn is rivals & teammates), and Homare goes on to declare that they’re “people bound by a common destiny” and goes on to spew wedding vows: "In sickness and in health, for better or for worse, we shall share our laughter and our tears as those with an intertwined fate... How beautiful we are!" I mean… it can’t get any more obvious than this, really. They are married.

But anyway, Tsumugi says he wants their relationship to be one where while they respect each other’s need for space, they’ll also be there for each other and share their pains and burdens—or in his words: “supporting each other when our burdens become too heavy to bear on our own”—which I think is really sweet because it carries this idea of quiet, unconditional acceptance; they don’t push each other to share more than they’re comfortable with sharing, but with whatever they ARE comfortable with sharing everyone carries the load and pain because pain is easier to bear when you’re not bearing it alone <3 

A later part of the story focuses on Hisoka, a mysterious amnesiac, being terrified of regaining his memories and facing some “sin” from his past that has led to another character, Chikage, trying to take revenge on him. When he confesses this to the rest of the Winter troupe, Homare asks, “How heavy is this sin you bear?” and Azuma suggests, “Perhaps it’s just heavy enough for the five of us to carry together.” (at this point Guy hasn’t joined yet). The stage play adapts this scene into a song called Key to Memory. The key (pun unintended) part is 1:27 where there’s a back-and-forth between Hisoka and the other Winter troupe members (sans Tasuku because he wasn’t in that particular play)

Hisoka: “I’m scared…”

Tsumugi, Homare, Azuma: “It’s okay.”

Hisoka: “My unforgivable sin…”

Tsumugi, Homare, Azuma: “Let’s carry it together.”

Hisoka: “I might not be me anymore.”

Tsumugi, Homare, Azuma: “It’s all right. We understand and we accept you, so let’s go together.”

And it ends with Hisoka singing: “I was afraid to open the door of my locked memories. But if everyone is here, I believe I can do it.”  In both the game and stage play, Hisoka fully regains his memories and reconciles with Chikage (long story). He tells Fuyupoly he can’t go into detail about his past with Chikage because it’s dangerous but he’ll tell them when the time is right, and they accept this saying that no matter what his past is, they know and love him as their Hisoka which obviously is a very sweet thing for friends to say, but it’s also very Marriage-coded to me.

Later, Guy is introduced as an android from Zahra (a fictional South Asian country) and joins the Winter troupe as a temporary member—because he’s stuck in Japan for the foreseeable future—until they find a permanent member to replace him. The other Winter members have a conversation among themselves and agree that regardless of whether he’s really an android or a human they’ll accept Guy for who he is and help him improve his acting, which again harkens back to the idea of ‘unconditional acceptance’. Eventually it’s revealed that Guy is in fact a human who has forgotten his memories of the past and his emotions. He recovers his memories all at once which shocks his system and causes him to pass out. When he wakes up in his room, he finds the rest of the Winter Troupe asleep around the room—which I believe is symbolic of their whole theme of “quiet acceptance”: they don’t want to push Guy to share beyond what he’s comfortable with, but they’re always there to listen to him and share his load if that’s what he wants. He opens up about the memories he recovered, and they don’t treat him with pity like he’s a lost child, but still extend gentle empathy and understanding. They also emphasise that it genuinely doesn’t matter to them whether he’s human or android because he’s Guy first and foremost. It’s at this point that Guy truly lets himself become part of the Winter troupe/Fuyupoly and not just as a temporary stand-in member, because he’s found a place where he’s found himself again and people who will accept who this “himself” is, whether that be an android devoid of emotions or a human brimming with vivid beautiful emotions.

so ive seen ppl talking abt how the crew's in a deadlock abt banishing ed and which ppl they think were pro-banishment and which were against, but the scenes with the crew make it look like everyone's voting for ed to get kicked out. so tbh i think like either of the following interpretations are pretty valid: the crew is split 50/50 on if they should banish ed OR the crew 100% wants to banish ed and stede was gonna try and leverage izzy's vote to try and get more ppl to change their mind. doesnt rlly matter either way tho

also the fact that izzy was the one to keep ed's body is. interesting. the others must've known abt it and helped izzy hide the body in the secret room. but izzy being the one to be like "no we're not throwing him overboard" is. something. no conclusions abt this atm im just rotating this fact in my brain.

i also just have a lot of thoughts abt the mutiny and the fact that like, jim's a trained assassin and the others are also pretty experienced killers and they probably knew they hadn't completely finished the job. and there was plenty of opportunity for them to do something about that. but instead they hid his body and waited for ed to succumb to his injuries. it feels kinda like ed's "technically i outsource the big job" rule. idk. thoughtssss.

Ok so like I saw this prompt post on Pinterest and I didn’t really think anything of it until I was driving home listening to 70s music and thought, “huh I love 70s himbos and bimbos.”

Anyway so the prompt is about a bunch of little ghost kids that died in different ways helping the others figure it out. So what about teenager-young adult ghosts from different time periods all have some connection to this area a 2020 time period person is living in.

Together they work past the trauma of their lives and the strange new world. Maybe they have to figure out their deaths idk yet.

But I’m thinking around four ghosts and the one living person.

Maybe someone from the Victorian era. Like super uptight, naturally awful in terms of sexism and racism and shit. Is probably a victor Frankenstein Stan and refuses to believe a women wrote the book. He grows into a less awful person through out the story. Was super into romanticism, maybe a poet or an artist or he’s a film buff bc film was like just invented.

Or like a cowboy man, super chill. Likes his clothes a lot, he’s very attached to them. Maybe he like always helps the 2020 person w fashion but he’s always like “I darn do reckon a trusty ole hat always do pull an outfit together”. He’s probably believes like all stereotypes, doesn’t think gay people are real, “I mean when you are out in the west w no women you find companion-ship.” Maybe lived through polio. Had a co-dependent attachment style to his horse.

A man from the 30s to 40s. Probably died in the war. Had a family he adored, maybe was Italian and faced discrimination. Maybe was engaged to a girl he loved, some spitfire as he would probably call her. Would be a v romanticized version of old relationships, like she wasn’t an accessory she was an actual person to him y’a know. Actually spoke out against Japanese internment camps or alternatively he learns about them in 2020 and denies it until being rlly sad and losing faith in the us and questioning why he ever fought in a war, then coming around and fining pride and purpose.

Girl from the fifties. Is super misogynistic at first believes a women should be at home cooking, cleaning, and caring after children but becomes like a feminist warrior. Who still loves caring for children, cooking, and cleaning for her husband but now realizes women can be more and should be treated as such. Terrified of communists, maybe her family was falsely accused of being commies and they lost everything idk.

Either a himbo or a bimbo from the 70s. Like some true stoner idiot. Loves music. Protested against the Vietnam war and for civil rights. Had an intelligent best friend who kept them safe, was probably very homoerotic and literally cannot function w out them half the time despite being a ghost. Was maybe serial killered bc it was the 70s. Or maybe drafted idk.

I’m thinking either like a greasy Billy loomis vibes guy from the 90s. Or like a girl boss from y2k. Idk yet, they might be too current to be like rlly fun y’a know.

Also either ghosts no one else sees or they have been reanimated so they have to live in real life and when people are like your roommates are weird, the 2020 person is like “I’m aware.” Things like cowboy getting into fist fights in a bar for some stupid reason and Victorian having to begrudgingly save them. Dotty (from the 50s) and 70s having an impromptu rally for the rights of people with uteruses. All of them comforting the guy from the 30/40s when he struggles with ptsd, or them all having to deal w him stockpiling all their food for when the economy crashes again. Maybe not even a person form the 2020a maybe they all just have to deal but I kinda like the 2020s person so idk. The person from the 70s gay panicking over an attractive person then having a full meltdown bc they feel so guilty for betraying their best friend, maybe going on a quest to find their grave sight and be reunited almost risking all their friends and having to choose them instead. 70s listening to dad music on a turntable way too loud way too late at night and smoking both cigarettes and weed way too much. 30s, 50s, and 70s all sharing cigarettes and having big movies nights were Victorian era is like rants on about beautiful films and it’s like Paul blart or something.

somewhere in here Arkansas’s family is threatened and it’s. upsetting. and i’m not sure what direction to go in with it but it will be important because her family means a Lot to her. she has two very good kind dads and a little sister named Tinsel. basically she has the only functional biological family out of all the characters and they make me :’) I also think they eventually meet Idabel and ADORE her and since she grew up without parents it’s just a very strange and emotional experience and. h. they r Wives. and the Trust family is all very sweet and kind even if Arkansas struggles a lot w gifted kid syndrome like i think her dads did their best even if they fucked up sometimes yknow. idabel goes fucking wild at the arcade like legitimately bloodthirsty and arkansas is just like i love my furious and powerful wife

anyway there’s some (a lot of) homoerotic space fighting (which perovskia usually wins BECAUSE she remembers when she and nisa used to spar and can predict what she’ll do. nisa ALSO remembers this bc. ofc she does. but perovskia had to learn how to adapt after Events bc her physical health changed a lot and she had to learn to be more careful about overexerting herself and also now knows how to swordfight. and moves more fluidly and confidently. so what nisa expects to happen often doesn’t bc perovskia’s fighting style has changed so much while nisa hasn’t really bothered to refine hers. anyway) perovskia (the gay little target that does a gay little crime and makes fun of you to piss you off) is like hey. what if you all committed treason it’s really fun and sexy. and then her adoptive mechanic mom gives everyone spinal surgery so their bodies don’t shut down and they won’t die :) that’s a thing by the way i won’t elaborate bc uhh :( but it is why perovskia has all the. nerve damage and chronic pain. i can elaborate on the actual Pre-story perovskia stuff later bc i think about it A Lot and it has a lot of bearing on her character but it’s also. before all this. but anyway if she hadn’t been bleeding out on Slice’s front lawn specifically she Would be dead. and there’s some fun narrative foil character shifts that happen four years before the main storyline but i will not say bc i’m tired

after this is Vague in my mind but a lot of it is Perovskia and Nisa reconnecting and just. talking. but being weird and repressed and deflective about anything Meaningful. And I have written a Lot about this so there’s more than I can condense but it’s very fucking good and. Idk. it’s a big shift in the narrative at this point and they’re just Agonizing about their dumb little feelings and it’s good. and P doing some work to make their giant fucking spaceship more stealthy. and Idabel and Arkansas being really cute and also going THROUGH it because i mean. a lot is happening. And it’s nothing either of them ever expected to happen but they’re like. hopeful for the future or whatever don’t look at me. It’s just like. put all of these characters on a spaceship in the middle of nowhere in transit and they all Have to have conversations even if they don’t want to because it’s HARD. nisa is forced by slice to learn how to make pancakes

Slice makes stew. They’re good at stew and contraptions and having a mild new england accent somehow. also canonically back in the scrapyard they would make things like the knife wielding tentacle constantly and perovskia would just stumble upon them. slice changed the live laugh love sign to say die cry hate because perovskia made fun of it. they r her mom.

so now they do some fun fun robberies and various crimes and it’s so sexy and i don’t think N and P are like. fully caught up at this point or know where they stand, so there’s a lot of very fun banter and having to work together despite really being afraid but also yearning to get to know each other again and just connect with one another honestly and openly after four fuckin years apart. because they’re both so different now but also very much the same. horse staring out into sea MAN. the thing is there’s no direct like. reason for them to avoid each other (at first P was shocked and overwhelmed and felt a little bit betrayed when she found out who was chasing her until she found out WHY. oh i forgot to mention Nisa BEGGED to be assigned commander for this mission bc she knew anyone else wouldn’t hesitate to get Perovskia killed. Forgot to mention that it’s IMPORTANT she fucking loves her so much god DAMMIT) but it’s just. tense and there’s a lot happening and it’s just. Ghhhdhbnm and ofc I and A have picked up on it since P showed up but it’s like. ok so what is Happening here. OH AND ONCE THEY START WORKING THINGS OUT IDABEL DOES START BEHAVING LIKE NISA’S SHITTY LITTLE SIBLING AND ACTING FUCKING DISGUSTED BY THEM ITS VERY FUNNY. they’re like perovskia you’re pretty cool what’s up with this. nisa sucks and also is a bitch. and perovskia says SHE CAN GET IT. and idabel says GET WHAT? BANNED FROM OLIVE GARDEN? and perovskia fans herself and is like yeah~ and idabel was just joking around but now is debating between mercilessly making fun of her and hitting her with a cricket bat. but god when P and N just get to hold each other in silence and security and just be. it’s . they. god. fuck. man.

oh i know this is a space story but perovskia just straight up has a sword (and some knives and maybe a gun idk) don’t ask me why idk but it’s very lesbian of her and she does gay little flourishes and is just. very annoying and i like her a lot. she’s very dramatic like her alias was madame revenant when she was living in the scrapyard and just doing some petty crimes like. she embroidered that jacket herself nobody calls her that she’s just a goofball. also warrior cats exist and she makes warrior cat fan animations. that just has to be true so warriors has been preserved for centuries. also she was presumed dead for a while uhh don’t think abt it too much but she likes that aesthetic.

Idabel takes the best to this new life of crime they are fucking FOR it she gets a FLAMETHROWER and Arkansas is like. wrow honestly my favorite thing abt them is that they’re both fucking INCREDIBLE pilots. like they know what they’re doing. and nisa is really really bad at it btw she cannot pilot a mech well. but this block of text isn’t about her i’m talking about THEM. Their chemistry is so good they r just. 🥺. and they both become Fast friends with perovskia because she’s just pretty likeable?? and ofc nisa’s jealous bc a) you guys don’t even like me :( but also b) that’s MY friend. it’s very funny. honey of course they didn’t like you you were being very unpleasant to be around. but arkansas does rlly wanna be friends with her and she and idabel have so much sibling energy it’s insane. i think they’d abel and cain each other for a scooby snack but also kill for each other. because they’re tiny girls who will growl at you solidarity and also probably hang out and just destroy things with bats sometimes. they all become closer and get a rlly sweet found family dynamic it just takes a While. oh also idabel is basically the chosen one and can set things on fire with her hands but it’s barely touched on because i think that’s a really funny thing to just ignore. but i also think it does become important because it’s largely fueled by anger and emotion and. h. i think idabel has a lot of feelings ok. Arkansas and Perovskia bond over having fucking anxiety disorders and have caprisun drinking competitions. i think it’s just like. these people all have similar trauma and need people to lean on when things are hard so they stick with each other once they have the option to split apart because by then they’re friends and work well together and Care. auto tuned baby crying mp3.

Alia and Agent Variety show up somewhere around here? They’re Slice’s very cool wives and Alia has a Vechicle Collection and own fucking stupid race cars and stuff and I love her. perovskia is afraid of being in vechiles so she has to take a fucking benadryl every time they have to make a getaway. Variety isn’t actually an Agent anymore and I also love HER because she’s very fucking good. they started out as just contacts slice had but it turns out they’re all in love <3 alia is also actually a sports car racer like. unprofessionally. illegally. which is just very cool of them.

Also i don’t think it has. a very BIG end, yknow? it’s like, they’re doing very good things and are up against a lot, and I don’t think they like.. singlehandedly take down the government or anything because they’re only a few people. but i think they get a happy ending and get to grow old while making positive changes to the world around them. like i don’t think they’ll be able to solve everything but they’re sure as hell gonna do what they can. But idk maybe they actually do get like. some good shit done. but again they’re not. an army. they’re a bunch of 20-somethings and their rube-goldberg-machine-creating chaperone. but i think they should get a fun climactic moment so i guess this is all to say i don’t. have an ending planned. but there should probably be one at some point.

OH AND the giant evil blood sucking dog vineyard vines robot Definitely almost kills Nisa (or at least fully destroys her in some way) and. it’s very narrowly avoided and she’s very very weak for a while because it took a lot out of her. also the dog robot does make grape vines grow and uhhhh any grapes that show up are 100% full of the pilot’s siphoned blood. also i think there’s still some remnants of that bitch in nisa’s mind afterwards bc an old mechanical god is hard to get rid of. but it’s mostly ok.

Also the bug people are just. a thing. like every person in the most recent generation in this specific society are at least a little bit genetically experimented on because. it sucks there. and i think if your parents bribe the government you can be a little Less fucked up but yknow. everyone’s a little weird. this was an excuse to put bug ppl in here they’re just the folks who were probably the most fucked with and i have many bug people here because i think bugs are cool and i want them to look like weird little bugs. Royal and guard AU for Kunikida!!

asimov as the rebellious royal who needs to be supervised so they stop sneaking out every night to go cartwheeling through the woods is VERY fitting + kunikida is 100% knight material and i think he would look very handsome in a suit of armor. asimov tries getting him to teach them how to fight and at first he refuses until he realizes that the alternative is them mucking about anyways without knowing what they’re doing and probably hurting themselves. cue homoerotic training montage.

 kunikida keeps waking up in the middle of the night to find that asimov has figured out yet another way to escape their bedroom without him noticing. at some point he gets kidnapped by The Enemy(tm) and asimov decides fuck it all and goes to rescue him and then they kiss. 

on the other hand—kunikida as a somewhat closed-off prince who spends most of his time managing the royal accounts or practicing swordplay and he doesn’t really NEED a guard except that he can get a bit overzealous and it’s much better for the royal family if one of their knights gets into a scuffle out on the streets instead of the next day’s headline being “crown prince fucking decks a guy for being a dick.” 

asimov, meanwhile, is effectively stuck in Knight Detention, and got handed the job with the implication that they’d either do it well and behave, or suffer the consequences. the idea is that the prince is such a stickler for rules that maybe some of his sensibilities will rub off on them. asimov doesn’t like him much from the get-go but they warm up. this version also has the homoerotic swordfights. rlly can’t have a knight au without them.

anyways I dont think.. the stobotnik entire relationship is that "homoerotic", but probably some feelings here and there. a lot of it is because of stone's deep seated admiration and sort of Need for ivo's special attention cuz he doesnt give it to anyone else like at all, and after being in cahoots with him for so long, he can kind of tell when his anger is just ivo being ivo and when to actually feel bad cuz ivo has pretty bad skills when it comes to Peopling nice. ivo half respects stone half doesnt rlly know what to feel about him because... wow, an almost decent human? nahh... I hate him... he's a normal person.... right?

stone wouldve definitely liked ivo enough by the point of the movie to make ivo basically his first priority. I find it sad that no one talks about the smaller things between them, like when stone went to see if ivo was okay (before ivo iconnically grabbed his jaw/teeth) and when he was basically shut down he was like "no, I thought that maybe I should check to see if you were okay" like babie 🥺 he definitely cares about ivo, not just because his admiration but more like despite it, because deep down he kinda sees ivo as an equal after all these years no matter how high ivo's horse is.

ivo is just very bad with being nice to people and identifying emotions other than just.. so here he is, thinking he's got the world in his hands and living life how he planned to with being evil and mean but OOPS! 🤭 here comes agent stone to be his assistant for probably 10+ years and they're INSEPARABLE. ivo thinks he can do everything himself but take away his stone for a few hours and he realizes how lonely it is around the place and how much he misses his lattes and stupid generous offerings of company from stone.... bums him out a little bit. but he wouldn't show it. the moment stone gets back he's probably gona be put right back to work but he would be overjoyed to have his assistant returned. he doesnt DEPEND on stone by any means, he doesnt even need an assistant!! if he wanted he could just do everything himself, but no. ivo allowed stone into his life and despite how many times he goofs up or does something to piss him off a little he still keeps the guy around!

Nothing says romance like pretending to be the person you’ve been in love with for years, right? Mac’s frenzy against gay marriage causes Dennis to have a breakdown and he marries his high school girlfriend out of nowhere and for no proper reason whatsoever. Dennis puts his arm around Mac when he kicks him out the apartment. We find out that Dennis has been illegally housing Mac for years, and everything in their apartment belongs to Dennis. Mac steals shirts that Dennis throws away and wears them after cutting the sleeves off. 7/10

Dennis Gets Divorced: Have you ever been so gay that you can’t even get married to a woman for a week and avoid bringing your boy toy (Maureen’s words, not mine) home to dance and get drunk with because you just miss him so much? Have you ever been so gay that you spend all your emotional energy (for dating) on one man for over a decade of living together, never genuinely loving a woman in a romantic sense ever in your life? 8.5/10

The Gang Buys a Boat: Mac and Dennis buy a boat. Which they get Charlie to chip in for. They spend the whole episode basically being a whiny gay boat couple being whiny and gay over expensive boat stuff and basically having a shared income (from all the dick towel money, which is weirdly THEIR money and not the gang’s... not JUST Mac’s, who came up with the dick towel but THEIR money. sounds gay). Mac pushing the wheelbarrow of boat stuff he and Dennis bought and Dennis not even helping to hold one thing is cold hard evidence that Mac tops him. Dennis assuring Mac and calming him down over being pissed about being patronized is peak domestic... Dennis nagging at Mac about how Mac should know what CDs he owns so they don’t buy the same CDs twice and the importance of Being On The Same Page is very gay and even MORE domestic. When Mac and Dennis go to the boat party the way they’re dressed is eerily similar to how they dressed when they were “pretending” to be a gay couple. 9/10

Mac’s Big Break: Mac holds Dennis’ shoulder when he says a prayer for luck. 4/10

Mac and Charlie: White Trash: Mac gets so offended that Dennis thinks he’s of a higher class despite living in the same apartment for years and years—to the point where he either doesn’t want to let Dennis into his and Charlie’s pool or make Dennis serve them. Sounds kinky. 3/10

Mac’s Mom Burns Her House Down: Mac and Dennis start this episode sitting next to each other, super close for no reason even though there’s no reason for them to, and obsess over Charles Grodin together. 7/10

Who Got Dee Pregnant?: Dennis is super impressed and obsessed with Mac’s new term ‘browning out’ and he gets MAD (“Wh a t?”) when Artemis accuses Mac of sleeping with Dee despite not giving two shits when he thought Charlie slept with Dee. Dennis also got pissed when Mac didn’t wear matching outfits with him on Halloween so they could be Mario and Luigi. 8/10

The Gang Gets a New Member: Mac and Dennis try to get Schmitty back in their gang in a very homoerotic way, kicking Charlie out altogether. Dennis apparently orders the food for everyone when they go out to eat together, which Mac justifies by saying “Dennis has the best palate”, and he actually? Believes and supports Dennis choosing his food for him despite hating the food Dennis picks for him? Imagine being that in love? Also, when Schmitty pisses Mac off all he has to do is give Dennis one Look and boom, he’s out the gang. Bonus point for their gay little sways along to Schmitty’s initiation music as well as every time Mac had to talk on behalf of him because Dennis got too emotional for words, plus all the gay bickering. 8.5/10

Dee Reynolds: Shaping America’s Future: Mac and Dennis make a movie together, and argue over whether blackface or “black voice” is more racist. They are both wrong and right (about the other being wrong) at the same time, but the important thing to note (if we ignore all the bad, very bad decisions made) is that Mac and Dennis made a rlly gay movie which they watched and jerked each other off by complimenting each other on their performances (and secretly shitting on Charlie’s). 8/10

Charlie Kelly: King of the Rats: Mac and Dennis sit next to each other a lot and work to make the day special for Charlie in an effort not to be cynical. And then in the midst of all this, Mac got Dennis a gift. Also, Dennis reveals that when Mac secretly sneaked off, he followed Mac, suggesting that he probably follows Mac when he sneaks off a lot. Codependent much :/ 8.5/10

The Gang Gets Stranded In The Woods: Dennis sends pictures of him hanging out with Chase Utley, arm around his shoulder, because he wanted to make Mac jealous. 5/10

Dee Gives Birth: Dennis and Mac sit together in the beginning, as they are wont to do. Mac and Dennis almost become parents (along with Charlie). 4/10

How I feel about this character: 

I love lyra ross, like, more than words can say. like when you approached me about playing a motw campaign i was like “sure why not” and i had NO idea what character i wanted to make. i just started dicking around with The Spooky playbook and somehow fell into the wonderful story and personality that is lyra and i have been hooked ever since. like i think what fascinates me the most about her is how unlike me she is??? like sure i project a little bit, but everyone does w their ocs like c’mon that’s the fun of it! but unlike mack (who started as rlly sort of a self-insert that just developed into a completely different human) like i didn’t start lyra off with my characteristics. she was developed completely standalone from myself and getting to play around in her headspace and see how she functions is just the most fun ever. like i feel like i get more acting experience in our podcast than i do in my Actual Theatre Classes. 

like i honestly can’t wait for the game 3 recap to go up because this was hands down my favorite episode so far. i went into that scene having No Clue what i wanted to say, and by just immersing myself in that moment and in lyra i got a very touching and heartwarming moment and like...fuck man. they're from the winter troupe of the mankai company, and unlike the other troupes they're all adults. that said, they all have varying degrees of trauma and emotional stuntedness. it takes them some time to fully open up to each other bc they're all very cautious of each other's boundaries and don't want to cross any lines which initially led to some issues in the group's formation. over time they've learned to bridge the gap while still being mindful of hard boundaries. at one point they have a discussion about what exactly their relationship is (gay) cuz they were talking about how the other troupes have clearly defined dynamics (spring=family, summer=besties, autumn=rivals & teammates) but they don't,, and homare deadass says they're "people bound by a common destiny" which in and of itself sounds very Gay (like why are you as a man bound to other men by a common destiny), but it goes even further because homare starts spouting WEDDING VOWS: "In sickness and in health, for better or for worse, we shall share our laughter and our tears as those with an intertwined fate... How beautiful we are!" THIS IS A DIRECT QUOTE FROM THE GAME AND THE MC EVEN REMARKS "i can already hear wedding bells in the distance..." 

gradually they become closer, in individual sub-units based on who's paired up as co-leads for a play, and as a troupe overall. also two of its members are childhood friends who had a messy 'divorce' in their young adulthood and it took the game breaking its genre to introduce a timeloop for them to finally make up if that means anything to you. one of their troupe songs "precious to us ~bokura no kisetsu" has some pretty beautiful and fruity lines: "The many kindnesses born in me here / Never fail to breathe life into my chest / Even all the pain and bitterness / Have now become dear to me (Ah…Stay with me)", "No matter how many times our season passes / Let us keep living together / Holding our hands, without ever letting go / Let us open up the curtain of tomorrow", "There is no need for words, because once our gazes meet / Joy sparks a light in your eyes", "Our journey, may it be a brilliant one / As our breaths overlap as one"

a lot of their plays has a LOT of homoerotic tension between the two leads too. their first play has tsumugi and tasuku play angels, and it's heavily implied that tasuku's character has an unrequited crush on tsumugi's character. their third play has azuma play a vampire and tasuku play Just Some Guy and it's generally agreed in the fandom to be one of the gayest, if not THE gayest, play A3 has ever written. obviously the vampire thing is very fruity, but there's also how the vampire was longing to bite the human but was holding himself back, and when the vampire left the human in the end, the human was absolutely HEARTBROKEN over it and was swearing they would reunite one day. the stage play of this takes it even further by having the vampire embrace the human from behind and BITE his neck. the fourth play is a watered-down adaptation of Phantom of the Opera where they genderbend Christine into Chris among other things and change the relationship between Chris and the Phantom to one of friendship.... ostensibly so, because there's still a lot of homoerotic undertones in their interactions. i could go on but this should be enough of a sampling taste

the writers rlly said "let's take 2 normal guys who are childhood friends and have been into theatre since their school days and have them go through a pre-canon messy divorce, an eccentric poet with a potentially controversial haircut, an amnesiac sleepyhead who can only be awoken with marshmallows but is also somehow extremely athletic despite doing nothing but sleeping and eating marshmallows all day, a man who is so beautiful and mysterious he breaks gender, and a supposed android from a fictional south asian country, and throw them into a blender, oh and for good measure let's throw in some theatre and angst and gay and angst and gay" and the end result was marriage. i mean it took them a lot of awkward fumbling around and conflicts to get there but they got there and thats what matters. ok *technically* in-text they're all rlly good friends and kinda found family BUT they are found family via marriage papers i do not make the rules chief

The reason why they are so friends-to-lovers to me is because their relationship is founded on quiet and unconditional acceptance of each other—regardless of how flawed they may be or how heavy their burdens and trauma may be. When the troupe first formed (sans Guy who was in another country at the time), they didn’t have any major clashing personalities at the very beginning and generally they were mindful of each other’s boundaries, unlike the other troupes that came before them. However, it’s BECAUSE they were too mindful of said boundaries that it was difficult for them to break down their walls and bond as a team—and there were a LOT of walls to break down, as all of them had varying degrees of emotional baggage and trauma.

In fact, it’s only three plays in that they finally truly start opening up to each other, with Azuma getting the ball rolling by opening up about the deep loneliness that haunted him ever since his childhood. It’s during this conversation that they also discuss what their relationship as a troupe is, because the other troupes have defined their relationship as a team (Spring is family, Summer is best friends, Autumn is rivals & teammates), and Homare goes on to declare that they’re “people bound by a common destiny” and goes on to spew wedding vows: "In sickness and in health, for better or for worse, we shall share our laughter and our tears as those with an intertwined fate... How beautiful we are!" I mean… it can’t get any more obvious than this, really. They are married.

But anyway, Tsumugi says he wants their relationship to be one where while they respect each other’s need for space, they’ll also be there for each other and share their pains and burdens—or in his words: “supporting each other when our burdens become too heavy to bear on our own”—which I think is really sweet because it carries this idea of quiet, unconditional acceptance; they don’t push each other to share more than they’re comfortable with sharing, but with whatever they ARE comfortable with sharing everyone carries the load and pain because pain is easier to bear when you’re not bearing it alone <3 

A later part of the story focuses on Hisoka, a mysterious amnesiac, being terrified of regaining his memories and facing some “sin” from his past that has led to another character, Chikage, trying to take revenge on him. When he confesses this to the rest of the Winter troupe, Homare asks, “How heavy is this sin you bear?” and Azuma suggests, “Perhaps it’s just heavy enough for the five of us to carry together.” (at this point Guy hasn’t joined yet). The stage play adapts this scene into a song called Key to Memory. The key (pun unintended) part is 1:27 where there’s a back-and-forth between Hisoka and the other Winter troupe members (sans Tasuku because he wasn’t in that particular play)

Hisoka: “I’m scared…”

Tsumugi, Homare, Azuma: “It’s okay.”

Hisoka: “My unforgivable sin…”

Tsumugi, Homare, Azuma: “Let’s carry it together.”

Hisoka: “I might not be me anymore.”

Tsumugi, Homare, Azuma: “It’s all right. We understand and we accept you, so let’s go together.”

And it ends with Hisoka singing: “I was afraid to open the door of my locked memories. But if everyone is here, I believe I can do it.”  In both the game and stage play, Hisoka fully regains his memories and reconciles with Chikage (long story). He tells Fuyupoly he can’t go into detail about his past with Chikage because it’s dangerous but he’ll tell them when the time is right, and they accept this saying that no matter what his past is, they know and love him as their Hisoka which obviously is a very sweet thing for friends to say, but it’s also very Marriage-coded to me.

Later, Guy is introduced as an android from Zahra (a fictional South Asian country) and joins the Winter troupe as a temporary member—because he’s stuck in Japan for the foreseeable future—until they find a permanent member to replace him. The other Winter members have a conversation among themselves and agree that regardless of whether he’s really an android or a human they’ll accept Guy for who he is and help him improve his acting, which again harkens back to the idea of ‘unconditional acceptance’. Eventually it’s revealed that Guy is in fact a human who has forgotten his memories of the past and his emotions. He recovers his memories all at once which shocks his system and causes him to pass out. When he wakes up in his room, he finds the rest of the Winter Troupe asleep around the room—which I believe is symbolic of their whole theme of “quiet acceptance”: they don’t want to push Guy to share beyond what he’s comfortable with, but they’re always there to listen to him and share his load if that’s what he wants. He opens up about the memories he recovered, and they don’t treat him with pity like he’s a lost child, but still extend gentle empathy and understanding. They also emphasise that it genuinely doesn’t matter to them whether he’s human or android because he’s Guy first and foremost. It’s at this point that Guy truly lets himself become part of the Winter troupe/Fuyupoly and not just as a temporary stand-in member, because he’s found a place where he’s found himself again and people who will accept who this “himself” is, whether that be an android devoid of emotions or a human brimming with vivid beautiful emotions.[Mod note: There’s a LOT more but we’re afraid of crashing the post. 4. when sousuke told rin about the shoulder injury he was literally so devastated because his love couldn't follow his passions anymore,, AND WHEN SOUSUKE RECOVERED FROM THE SURGERY RIN LEGIT CRIED HAPPY TEARS!!! and sousuke was always there for rin w/e he had a slump bc he compared himself too much to haru and others,,, like gods they care so much for each other

you said dc so ill say in the circles ive found myself in i simply do not get dickb*bs, dickr*y, or j*ykyle. i kind of hate dickb*bs? maybe i havent read enough comics w them, but idk, i just dont like it. d*ckroy is like. i read outsiders, and i just didnt see it, im sorry. the most ive ever liked them was in the teen titans animated show. i want to like j*ykyle and ive liked a lot of the stuff ive seen on tumblr, but i think i just like them as like homoerotic enemies type of dynamic and not as like, the gushy sweet stuff most people tend to write about them. i hate hate hate the scarlet arc for jasons preboot run. i HATE scarlet. the whole thing is such a mess i mean youve got whatever the fuck was up w jasons hair youve got the pillhead youve got pr*f p*g (censored bc i hate him and not bc of tags) i mean its just generally like one of my least favorite jason comics ever written. they also literally retcon scarlets backstory the second time she appears. like IMMEDIATE retcon its so fucking stupid i hate it

ive heard that a lot of people dont like hush for riddler, but its genuinely one of my favorite comics for him. i feel like it really showcases his brilliance and the way how he challenges batman on an intellectual level thats really interesting and a little darker in a way that i actually enjoyed! it feels very holmes/moriarty and i love them when theyre like that
