semi-hiatus announcement 🎀!!

hi everyone! idk if anyone noticed lol ive not rlly been around n so i fear i am going on semi-hiatus for a while! i’ll be back periodically to check on ficsforgaza stuff - dunno when i’ll be back but im not enjoying tumblr rn and things in my life are up in the air so i’ll be taking a wee step away. tis no longer fun when a girlypop app on my phone is affecting my mental health!! my avoidant attachment style is telling me to just LEAVE but thats mean n while things are uncertain i want to say bye bye first!!!

Do you have any tips or advice for running an artists booth at a convention? I'm thinking about doing it eventually and been wanting to hear from people who have done it before :^)

yeah!!! lemme rattle off a few things off the top a my head also, pardon me 4 using amazon dot ca links for products that i mention. its just easy to find references that way (and often u can look up the brand and find their non-amazon store etc etc)

this got super long so im putting it under a cut!!

• join an artist alley group!! i'm in this artist alley discord and it is a fantastic place to get info about cons, table display ideas, manufacturer recommendations, etc. there are more than just this group out there and i think there are bigger ones but i personally really like this one ^u^ i make a ton of use of the display resources and manu recommendation channels!

• if you can afford it, be choosy about the events you apply to. there are a lot of cons out there that are fantastic, and a lot that aren't worth the trouble, and i don't necessarily mean small vs big cons. some of my fav events are smaller artist alleys local to me, and most of the artists i know avoid informa (fanexpo) like the plague. check out what other artists have to say about past events and keep an eye out for red flags: personally i find cons with really out of date/poorly advertised social medias and websites that have mismatched info are a warning sign of a mismanaged and not well attended event. • you don't need a lot of fancy display stuff to start, those sorts of things you can build up over time. im a fan of getting a ton of my display stuff from the dollar store >:)

when you're ready and need the space to display a good amount of art the main thing you wanna pick up is definitely something that gives your table some verticality, whether that's a pvc pipe style setup, pegboards, or modular cube shelving (we all used to use these big heavy grid ones until the plastic sheet covered ones came out and now we all use those. theyre cuter and lighter and fit better on a table and come in more colours yayay. im sure some people still like the grid ones since they fit gridwall accessories tho) there are lots of other ways to display stuff but these r what i am most familiar with. definitely helps to look at youtube and pinterest and discord groups for display ideas!!

another thing you will want to start is a tablecloth. not every con has their tables already covered! there are those plastic picnic ones at dollar stores, and you can thrift bedsheets/fabric too.

• depending on the type of display and art you do you'll need some way to attach signs/prints/charms/etc to your display. i just moved from blu-tack to magnets but i used to use sewing clips (back when i used the grid cubes) and before then masking tape. all of them are okay and cool! except blu-tack. don't make the same mistakes as me it adds like 40 whole minutes to teardown and it leaves gross oil on the prints after some time. evil

• if you don't have business cards you can make a sign with a qr code that links to you/your shop! there are lots of qr code makers online that u can even customize with images and colours and stuff. there will be people that wanna know how to find you again after a con!

• these days a lot of people don't bring cash to conventions and it's pretty vital to bring some sort of card reader or other digital payment method. most of us use square - they recently made it so that the phone app can accept tap! so you don't need to jump for the expensive physical readers. i've also got a paypal dot me qr code and my etransfer email (i think this is a canadian thing) on a lil sign on the table so people have lots of payment options. usually over 50% of my con income comes from non-cash sales!

• make sure to bring change!! we've forgotten in the past and done okay but it's always handy to be able to make change for people. you'll want a secure place to put cash as well, whether it's a locked moneybox that you keep out of sight or a place on your person (friend of mine uses a fanny pack!) you never wanna leave your table completely unattended but especially when it comes to the moneybox. if it's a multi day con this is an item you mustn't leave at your table overnight.

• keep count of your sales and expenses properly so that you can see how much you made at the end of the con. i really like spreadsheets but you can even just note it down in a book. here's a little example of one con for me:

• you'll want to make a checklist of stock and display stuff to bring, but don't forget to make a list of minor stuff like phone chargers and scissors and tape and glue and pens and paper. multiple types of tape and paper if possible. they don't feel super important until you're stuck because you forgot to make a price sign and have to get by with a sharpie and a napkin. don't let that be you!! dollar store sticky note pads are super useful for this type of thing.

• plan out your prices and do as much prep (counting, sign making, display planning, packing/sorting) as you can beforehand so that the event doesn't feel too stressful. make sure your merchandise is stored in an easily accessible way for you behind the table so you aren't scrambling or rummaging too much when people are asking for stuff!

• similarly, whatever you can leave out for people to just pick/grab themselves, the more of it you're likely to sell. things like stickers and charms are good for this - people like to touch stuff! and it makes it so you don't need to go fishing for items for people as frequently. generally i don't do this with more expensive items just to be safe.

• if you sell prints, people are gonna ask for sleeves to keep them safe, especially at outdoor events. sometimes people ask for sleeves/bags even if they dont buy anything. they're a good idea to have on hand and you can find em for pretty cheap online and for a bit more expensive at dollar stores (i use OPP bags. if you dont wanna use plastic you can always get paper bags/envelopes/glassine bags instead)

• a cushion for the chair is a good idea. lots of conventions have really uncomfy chairs. some folks even bring camping chairs instead!

• pack snacks/lunch/water/drinks/have lunch plans. if you have a table buddy that is able to run out for food that's always nice. you might be sitting but it uses a lot of energy to interface all day!! you'll be exhausted and hungry and it's gonna be important to get enough fuel for your brain to function properly. i genuinely would recommend juice/soda/coffee/energy dink alongside water and food if you wanna live, especially if its a multi day con. get good sleep on days between!

• if you're excited to do trades with other artists during the con, the general etiquette is to wait until later in the day/near the end when the crowds are winding down! it's always okay to ask if someone's doing trades, and don't be upset or press them if they aren't interested or have certain stuff they don't want to trade.

• speaking of con etiquette, depending on the type of vert you are (intro/extro) and or how much customer service experience you have, interfacing can be nervewracking. my general rule is that if they stop to look, i say Hello and let them browse. if they seem interested in my table i try and do some small talk. stuff like How are you/How's the event been for ya/compliments on their outfit/cosplay/merch they have on like pins etc are good! kids and old folks love this. as tiring as it is to do some of my favourite parts of cons is talking to nice people that like my art!! all the folks that say nice things about my work are what keep me drawing ;w; i keep my sketchbook with me to jot down/doodle nice and funny encounters just cus it makes me happy to look back on XD

• when it's teardown time try to put stuff away as neatly as you can. you might be tired and just wanna toss all your stuff into whatever it is you brought it in but i promise future you (especially next-con you) will be so thankful that you put all your price signs into one baggie etc etc.

• speaking of bringing and putting away merch - you'll need a way to get it all from your home/car to your table and back. lots of people use dollies and other types of utility cart (i can guarantee there are a bunch of those grandma grocery ones at your local thrift store!!) - i personally use a big luggage bag and a collapsible wagon, but back in the day we used to CARRY bin after bin of stuff from the car and back in multiple trips which i would NOT reccomend lol. not every convention hall is easily accessible or close to parking so not having to lift stuff if you can avoid it is gonna be vital.

"Hey y/n guess what your favourite daddies got for you!" Bucky sang walking in with two large shopping bags, steve following behind with another.

However they were met with the sight of you curled up on the bed groaning in pain. Bucky immediately dropped the bags and walked over to the couch where you were laying in agony.

"Doll? Are you alright?" You shook your head writhing around feeling like you were being repeatedly hit in the stomach. "Hurts."

"How long has it been hurting?" Steve asked when he'd moved the shopping from the floor to the counter. "Jus after you left." Bucky and Steve shared a worried glance, they hadn't seen you in this much pain since... maybe ever.

"This could be something serious, maybe we should get someone to take a look hm? Just to check you're doing okay." You gave him a worried glance. "No wan."

"I agree Buck, we can't let them go out like this. They could get something else and I don't think it's a good idea to take them somewhere unfamiliar and scare them."

"Sam told me about an app where you can get them to come to you and if that fails we could always try Bruce." Steve agreed so he stayed with you whilst bucky arranged the doctors appointment.

"He said it will be around an hour." Steve nodded before laying down next to you, you eventually managed to cuddle up close without aggravating your stomach. "Daddy im scared. No like doctors."

"I know baby, but we need to make sure you're nice and healthy, okay? Me and Dada will protect you." After some cartoons and snuggles Bucky answered the knock on the door. "Baby this is Dr Alex can she come and take a look at you?" You saw a woman stood next to him, she seemed really friendly and your caregivers were there so you nodded.

"Why don't you sit with Bucky y/n and I will hold your hand." Steve suggested making you nod, Bucky sat down beside you, pulling you into his lap. "they're little right now, I hope that's okay." Bucky sighed and the woman nodded. "Of course, whatever makes them more comfortable." You couldn't help but smile at that she seemed nice, maybe you could trust her just a little.

"So y/n I've heard you have been having some stomach pain?" She asked sitting opposite you. "Mhm." You replied looking away. "anything else? Fever? Nausea?" Steve shook his head squeezing your hand a little to prove he was still there.

"Okay, do you mind if I take a look?" She asked making you nod nervously. "Alright, I can see some bruising around here." Her fingers touched it slightly making you hiss. "I know I'm sorry, well I think it's mostly likely just a pulled muscle, have they been doing anything strenuous recently?"

"They've been training a lot recently, I can't believe we didnt think of that." Alex gave him a reassuring smile. "Don't worry about it, I'm glad you called me out. It's always best to get it checked out rather than assume it's nothing. It seems quite severe but it doesn't require surgery which is good." Bucky sighed with relief hearing that and kissed the top of your head. "You did so good."

"They need plenty of rest and to avoid doing anything strenuous for 4-6 weeks, and I recommend ice packs and heat packs to helo witb the swelling along with some ibuprofen but other than that there's nothing else we need to do." Steve nodded looking at bucky, they both knew it was going to be hard to get you to stay still for 4-6 weeks. If you weren't training in your big headspace you were running around playing with your daddies.

"Thank you Dr Alex, let me show you out." Steve smiled shaking her hand before opening the door for her. "Bye y/n. Thank you guys." She smiled back at Steve and Bucky before leaving. "See kiddo that wasn't too bad." You glared at him.

"alright, I know, it's gonna be hard to stay in bed and rest but it's what your body needs and you can get all the cuddles you could ever want." You gave him a small smile at that. "We love you kiddo and we are so proud of you. You were so brave today." Steve grinned kissing your forehead making you giggle.

Maybe spending all that time in bed cuddling wouldn't be so bad after all.

I started Disco Elysium this week and im obsessed im already 25 hours in i cnat belive it took me so long to play it im just so excited its so good im literally harry du bois i love my bff kim i love solving crime rahhhhh

The only hard part has been avoiding spoilers ive forced myself not to look anything up about it not even reddit hints or Pinterest art or anything. I want to see art of everyone so baddd ahhhhhh

I actually started sobbing that first night when your dreaming and talk to your hanging body. Im glad im playing this now because i just got out of rehab (almost 3 months sober!) and Harry really connects with me those feelings those urges and the regret and guilt. Somtimes its almost to much when I discovered his crashed car and i could feel the pit of my stomach ive been there waking up after a blackout and that feeling or guilt, terror, denial, they capture it so well.

It is a little slow at times and the skill checks have been frustrating but i just love it I actually feel like a spitfire detective solving crime. Like im making real notes in my notes app and putting stuff together constantly just eeeeeeeee

You were in your room, the one the triplets had built for you so you can live with them in their home. Just becuse you were too far away before and they quote 'need to see you every day'. You were more then happy to spend time with them but there were some bad sides too. The biggest problem was that, that you had a small crush on Chris. You did manage to avoid him while you were living in your house and to keep your feelings in control, but now seeing him everyday it just made your feelings blossom so much. And it wasnt helping how Chris would always flirt with you with no shame at all. Matt and Nick always take his flirty comments as a joke so when he does it you just laugh it off.

It was late at night and you were laying on your bed, legs in the air and swaying them back and forth while you mindlesly scrolled thru your phone, checking all the apps and finding some ideas for the car video you need to film together soon. As you were scrolling thru instagram someone knocked on you door.

"Come inn" you said happily focusing your gaze onto the door. The door cracked open and you saw nick as he slowly came in. He checked behind him and closed the door.

"Hey, i needed to get away from those two" he said with an eye roll as he laid beside you on the bed.

"What happened?" You asked making more space for him on the bed.

"We need to film a video the one where we guess the drink, i told you about it. And me and Matt both were doing an assigned job we all gave eachother BUT CHRIS REFUSES TO DO HIS JOB BECUSE HE IS LAZY!" He yells on purpose towards the door to make sure Chris hears him. You chuckle at his behavior and get up.

"What do you need to get, the drinks?" You asked and went to look for your car key.

"Omg yess will you go get them?" He said as he got up.

"Yeah sure just let me change quickly" you chuckled and Nick sprinted out the door to brag how you will get them and also to rub it in Chris' face.

You chuckled again as you heard Nick bragging to Matt and you quickly got on a simple black top and paired it with wide jeans that you loved.

As you made your way downstairs you saw Matt cutting some boxes and Nick cutting out mini versions of the drinks you will be having in the video.

"Hey Nick can you just send me the list of drinks you guys need?" You asked as you reached the bottom of the stairs, seeing Chris look up at you and stare at you with his lips agape slightly.

"Oh yeah i thi-" Nick started to say and reach for his phone before Chris cutt him off.

"No need im coming with you and i already have the list" he said still angry a little as you could hear it in his tone.

"Oh okay then" you replied as you started getting more nervous about having to be with him all alone, completly zoneing out so you didnt even hear Nicks angry yells about how Chris want to go just now.

You both made your way to the car, you in the drivers seat and Chris next to you. You did all the shopping making small talk and throwing random jokes, all untill you needed to get back home.

"Sprite, pepsi and monster peach. Is that all?" You said as you looked thru the bags in the trunk making sure you got everything off of the list.

"Oh shit, we forgot red bull blueberry" he said as he scanned the list seeing that he didnt cross it off or heard you say it.

"Oh god okay can you just run back into the store and get it. I dont feel like it" you said as you went to get past him to the drivers seat.

"No im not going, you were the one who said you will get the drinks and im the one reading it, so go get it" he said as he pressed his arm at the side of your waist to stop you. Making your stomach do a backflip at the little gesture.

"YOU were the one who was supposed to do all of this in the first place but was lazy, so get your lazy ass back in the store and get it!" You said growing frusturated with him.

"Dont raise your voice at me!" He said with disbelife that you raised your voice, even tho you barely even did.

"Y/n" he warned.

Gyaru is one of those lifestyles that isn’t necessarily focused on luxury brands or bougie stuff but is high maintenance to some extent. High maintenance can be several things: effort, time or money. Here are my tips on doing gyaru with minimum effort for those who are low on energy.

Keep in mind for some things to be effortless the price may go up.

Gyaru has 5 “pillars”:

Tan:

Not every gal has to be tan, theres sub-styles that don’t require it such as hime-gyaru. The tanning in gyaru was developed to fight beauty standards in Japan. Depending on where you are maybe tanning is the beauty standard maybe it isn’t. To me the important part is having healthy skin you feel confident in so I’ll twist this pillar to hygiene instead.

If you’re low spooning opt to do the pit stop:

Basically one shower for everything:

- clean your body, wash your face, brush your teeth and wash your hair (if it’s hair wash day)

Some people may find it gross but honestly it’s convenient. You’re already there, water is already running. Instead of having several steps you can just do everything in one place.

After wards it’s just treating face, body and hair. Start by your face so you don’t have to rinse your hands whenever you change products.

You may find yourself a bit more energized and happy for once you’re all clean and ready for the day.

Clothing:

Personally clothing is relatively easy if you already have a gyaru closet going on however if you don’t thats fine. Stick to a couple of safe and easy outfits: comfy and sexy are two words that should be in your outfit. Gyaru isn’t really a clothing focused style and almost everything can be made gyaru as long as the hair and makeup are top notch. Choose your favorite feature in your body and exploit it.

Personally, to me my legs are my best feature. So I base my outfits around that. Shorts, skirts, socks and leg warmers are my favorite accessories. Notice how these outfits look gyaru but there’s no heavy accessorizing and nothing gets in the way? Thats what you should strive for

If making outfits is something you struggle with go to Pinterest and check some outfits out, look for regular outfits and see how they can be gyaru-fied. Everskies is an amazing app where you can create outfits as well. Try to create stuff there. Theres groups in apps like amino where you can get crit and ask for tips.

Keep the clothing you like at an easy access place, maybe the front of your closet, maybe a rack outside. Repeating items and outfits is ok.

Makeup:

Here’s where it gets a but more complex. Some gals say no make no gal, others say it’s completely fine. To me even though makeup is a huge part of it, gal is about lifestyle and ideals.

Personally I’ve managed to reduce my makeup routine from 1-2 hours to 5-15 minutes. Obviously makeup requires skill and practice so maybe what takes someone a minute may take you 5 (such as eyeliner or lashes)

To reduce time select that which you don’t enjoy and remove it. Heres a list of things I don’t do:

Foundation: I have acne, I used to hide it by wearing foundation but im not embarrassed by it anymore. I really don’t use it unless I want to have like a seamless moment for an activity or if im posting on social media. Most of the time I wear foundation im not really doing Gyaru makeup anyways

The nose contour: Im black, my nose doesn’t look good with the whole stripe contour moment. Plus it looks odd from the sides. If i do wear foundation I follow my natural line to bring definition back to the face but i try to avoid if

Contacts: not really makeup but I hate them

Basically most of my makeup centers on the eye area. And even then you can avoid some steps.

If you color your eyebrows you can be up to 3 weeks with color so technically you can avoid doing your eyebrows besides from brushing and grooming (if necessary).

You can get eyelash extensions, now days lash techs are posting their lash maps and some pf them are creating anime/manga themed lashes which match the appearance of some daiso lashes.

You can half line your eyes instead of trying to do a full line eyeliner look. This is easier put visually but hopefully y’all get the gist. I might do a tutorial in the future. Honestly makeup is the only thing you really need the spoons for and even then removing some aspects that do not serve you can reduce it by a lot.

Nails:

Get press ons. Seriously there’s a bunch of people on Instagram making beautiful sets and they’re relatively cheap. You only have to prep your nail a lil and put them on.

Hair:

Hair is a bit complex as it kinda depends on the sub style you’re under. However for most (excluding hime) you only need layers. To me gyaru hair is very similar to scene kids once they’re leaving the style. The layers are a bit long, there’s some nice facial framing, color and cute bangs. If your hair meets these, you can just leave it as it is honestly.

Braids are a low maintenance option as well as wigs. Or simply having your natural hair texture theres not a lot of images of gyaru hair outside of straight and wavy, but hair is hair you don’t need a certain texture to pull it off just the main features. Curly hair can have bangs and layers. You can do layers and bangs with braids + add any color you like.

Worst part about braids is having to sit at the chair for hours but if you have the spoons for it, do it, you can be up to 3 weeks (more or less) with braids so that’s something you don’t have to worry about for quite a while.

For wigs, I recommend wigs that already have bangs in them, you just need to plop your hair in a cap and pop it on. It takes practice but once you get the hang of it it takes no time. Also it’s best to divide it in 2: put your wig cap at night, put your wig on the next day, that way it’ll be less exhausting

For straight hair, get one of those hair drier brushes, takes less effort than a blow drier + brush. You can skip the iron and you get volume so you can skip any extra steps.

For those with wavy and curly hair, work on finding the right products for yourself. The diffuser is your friend tbh in this case is just technique and good products. +++ remember to put your hair on a pineapple and bonnet to retain the curls.

For easy hair styles:

I did just update Finch and i have some thoughts on the layout

Putting these side to side for a initial comparison

The bottom feels too cluttered and the top feels too empty, for starters. I don't know, i really dont like things being bottom heavy in apps.

Not so sure on how i feel about the progress bar. So, neutral for now.

Not a big fan of having to go to a whole different menu for the activities now. I didn't do them that much before but the old way was more accessible to me at least.

The layout looks pretty cute, though, i love the sky theme (also idk maybe could have some text like "activities" or something like that)

And i don't really like that it occupies the space of the journeys now. I check the journeys kinda frequently, and i don't really like it being hidden in the options menu

Along with the insights, history and the mailbox too. Like, i don't know, the options and stuff aren't a place for these things.

The bag idea looks cute, i like it (the activities menu could work like this one tbh, like it used to be)

Only thing confusing me is why is the place that Pie is travelling is stated here of all places?

The micropets page looks really nice, i do like how it was done, i like seeing each individual micropet. I just miss being able to scroll down to avoid the unavoidable lag with all my micropets walking around + the total number of micropets. But those are small things

I absolutely love the look of the micropedia, its so cute, i love how its a little notebook page!

(also very convenient to have the options to go to the other sections of the bag when you are in one of the sections)

Not much changed in the others besides the button for the shop, which, its nice i guess fnfnfj not going to use much but the option is nice.

Im just missing seeing my house when i change Pie's clothes, since i like to match the outfits and the house

And lastly, the birb page

This is by far my favorite change to the layout. It looks nice, its a pleasing palette, the travel and notebook theme continues here, which is great, i like seeing all the likes, recent micropets and the locations like this

(also i appreciate that the percentage of how much you have explored of the current location is on an easier to find place)

But yeah these are my thoughts, i already sent my feedback, though its not as lengthy as this post, but it comprises my general thoughts on it. In short, aesthetically its a great change but layout wise, it could be better but its not awful

hi! no worries love, you can ask me whatever here, i don't mind twitter stuff here (as long is this kind of stuff - i don't want twitter discourse here for some time). i made my pinned video myself, i tried to find one similar but since i couldn't i decided to try to make it myself and i guess it worked!

gonna try to make a small tutorial for those who want this kind of videos:

you will need the following apps. (this tutorial is web, pc and mobile friendly!)

Canva

VN / CapCut

first of all, download the album cover and their respective vinyl on png format. here are the ones i used since hot girls don't gatekeep 💋

now, download the song you wanna use or screen-record it (you can use the "import audio from video" option to add the music to the video later). If you wanna screen-record it, remember that accounts that don't pay twitter premium or whatever the fuck is it called, only can upload videos less that 2:20 mins so i recommend record 2:19 seconds (even if its 2:20, twitter may say "too long" so to avoid that just make it 2:19).

open canva. select custom size and use 1920x656. add a background color or picture, i used white (#FFFFFF). add the album cover and the vinyl. place them wherever you want to (i want them in the middle, but if you place the album cover in the middle, the vinyl is gonna be a little bit more to the right so place the album cover a little bit to the left instead of the middle). tap the vinyl and use the "send to back" option to place it behind the album cover and add the "rotate" motion option. download the video (make it between 23s and 30s long - check that the vinyl make a complete turn on its axis) in the best quality or the want you wish.

open capcut or vn and add the video, crop it the way the vinyl starts in the exact same place it ends, duplicate it the amount of times you wish (depends on how long you want the video). you will notice that the vinyl does a smooth transition between videos, if not, that means its not cropped right. you can change the speed (canva doesn't let you unless you pay) so here you can make it slower or faste, i made it faster (x2). add the music and crop the audio to use your favourite part of the song. save the video (remember to make it 2:19 or less!) in the best quality you are able to since twitter will low the quality of the upload (if you want to upload it at the highest quality i recommend you to follow this tutorial).

open twitter and check that you are able to upload at a good quality (app settings) and post the video. you can add some emojis, symbols or you carrd/tumblr/youtube/etc - tip: erase the https:// from the url, it would look better and it will work perfectly). If you want to make your video downloadable to twitter premium users, leave the option turned on, if not, turn it off in the video (the same place where you can alt text and sensitive level). remember that people will still able to download your videos using some websites, so if you wanna put effort in you pinned vid remember to watermark it (you can add you @ on VN or CapCut and use the "transparency" option, i usually leave it at 15% or 20% but you can leave it 100% full if you want to).

But the past year taught me a lot about friendships so I’m just working on myself this year. It’s kind of lonely but at the same time really peaceful? I think I’m happier now than I’ve been in a long time. Yeah the lack of friends and companions makes things lonely but it’s not something that I’ll let break me anymore. I know I’m stronger than that now. Someone’s I think online people are easier to interact with because there’s no attachments?? I’ve posted a few things on my blog but only drabbles really. I’ve been wanting to start doing analysis’s for a long time but I never got around to it. Just like character analysis’s and relationship analysis’s and story arcs and all that jazz. I love all of it. And in my opinion the best stories are the ones where the characters are what drive the plot of the story. TR did an amazing job of doing this and it’s one of the reasons I fell in love with the story in the first place almost immediately.

Unfortunately, I don't use tiktok.
