Though... I guess I am trying to counterbalance things that make me unhappy with things that make me happy... So if the Barbie thing is irritating me (and if Barbie wasn't even a movie that I thought reached its full potential) then let me rec a women-led media project that I really, really enjoyed instead.

*rubs temples* Um... I'm going through the women-led media projects I've enjoyed over the past few years in my head. Fewer than I would hope, but I've also admittedly been watching fewer movies the last few years since I moved out of Center City.

Honestly, the one that comes to mind immediately is the first season of Russian Doll, which is one of my favorite tv shows that I've seen in the past five years. Natasha Lyonne was, as ever, incredible, and it was probably my favorite take on a time loop that I've ever seen.

(I was asked a lot if Groundhog Day was influential when I was writing my nandermo time loop story, but if I had to pick any piece of media that actually influenced it, it was probably Russian Doll and its emphasis on time loop as metaphor for trauma and coping mechanisms.)

The thing about time loops is that I feel like you really have to use the idea of time when you're using them. Russian Doll wasn't just about living the same day over and over again. It was about the cycle of abuse and an overall inability to escape from the past. It was about the dangers of becoming too solitary, and how becoming dislodged from the world isn't that different from becoming dislodged from time. It was about how genuine connections are what can pull us out of these horrible, damaging cycles, whether they be time loops or harmful coping mechanisms.

I loved it because it was a show about time loops, but it was also a show about humans and what makes them tick. I thought that Nadia and Alan were both super interesting protagonists, and I thought them growing and learning together was beautiful. I thought that the increasingly literal depictions of Nadia's trauma were haunting and horrifying and beautiful.

I think people often say that they don't like tropes and cliches when they really mean that they don't like them when they're handled lazily. I think that Russian Doll is one of the best examples I've seen of a piece of media utilizing the actual physical form of a trope in order to further what it wants to say rather than twisting the writing of the piece to better suit a trope. It used the time loop to talk about the time loops that humans place themselves in every day, and it used the time loop to explore how many ways a person might try to gnaw their own leg off if caught in a trap.

The time loop was literal but also a metaphor and I honestly just thought it was incredible. Fully recommend.

So Noah is openly being a zionist online... AGAIN. I'm seeing a lot of people wanting to leave the fandom- which I support, if you can drop this then you should. But if you're like me and it's not that simple, here are a couple rough tips that might help;

Pro-tip; instead of paying for Netflix and helping support genocide and the zionists in the cast/crew, cancel your subscription and send that money to charities that are bringing aid and resources into Gaza!

Pro-tip 2; buy fan content and nothing liscenced! Fan works are often better quality than the show- from drawings, to writing, to pins... it's worth the money and you aren't sending money to people openly supporting genocide and the murder of children!

Pro-tip 3; if you are going to continue taking part in fandom, like myself, do not do so in silence. Palestinians are being murdered and we can't pretend that it isn't happening simply because we have hyperfixations that we can't get rid of.

Pro-tip 4; join boycotts! Not only the monetary boycott of Netflix and Stranger Things, but- at least- the three main boycotts; McDonalds, Disney+ and Starbucks! There are many others, from Puma to Barclays to Booking.com to Pizza Hut to Burger King... None of these things are necessities and you can easily go without! Other options are probably cheaper and better quality too! It's a win-win!

Pro-tip 5; Go to protests if you can! Make your voice heard not only online but in person too! We have strength in numbers and we cannot lose the momentum we've barely started to build! Take direct action!

Adding on to this post (which I do suggest reading before you read this one!) because I've been seeing a bunch of stuff about the TOG graphic novel floating around and another thing popped into my head!

More specifically, about the physical form of Sleep.

In the TMBTE artwork, it's easily seen that, in one way or another, the Moon is alive. At least, to the point it has a whispering mouth full of sharp teeth and tar-like tongues.

In the transcripts for the tier 4 bundle page (thank you to @elkkiel for said transcript!) the first line states, "15 days since the convergence of the lunar anomaly".

Convergence is when two or more things come together to form a new whole, and, in biology, it's the tendency of unrelated animals and plants to evolve similar characteristics under similar environmental conditions. With that in mind, this could be a dying God changing in order to remind people it's still a God, and, that it never left.

What once only appeared in nightmares and wistful dreams now sits high in the night sky as a pale reminder of our fickle lives.

Plus, the presale went out on the day of a super blue moon.

Further, Sundowning's release had a Waning Cresent, with symbolises self care and mental contemplation, TPWBYT's had a Waning Gibbous, which symbolises releasing old habits and attempting to change, and TMBTE's had a new moon, which represents new beginnings. This album just so happens to have the song Euclid (which I've jabbered on about enough), which is about becoming someone new and accepting things can't be the same.

Next, we have "I was frequently beset by certain recurring dreams...I found myself standing on a vast shoreline gazing out at a flat, wide sea." The first thing that comes to mind is the Fall For Me MV, which just so happens to be apart of TPWBYT: the water based album.

Night time is, quite obviously, when the moon is most visable, and is also when most people sleep. Asides from this, the moon also controls ocean tides. The closer a moon is (e.g: a supermoon, or an unspecified lunar anomaly), the higher and more violent a tide can become.

Further, if and when the sun, moon, and or Earth are in alignment (at the time of the new or full moon), the solar tide has an additive effect on the lunar tide, creating extra-high high tides, and very low, low tides.

Sound familiar?

Whether Sleep is the moon, or was birthed from the moon back when they first became a God (one of @tonguetyd's ideas), is up for debate.

With all that, and the previous thoughts on Telomeres already thought out: "I felt that were I to somehow survive...then I would be left in a world that would not recognize me. I would become an element unto myself and myself alone. An echo stuck in the throat of a dead God."

So, I'd like to say that TPWBYT is Sleep's album, if anything. Or, in the least, heavily dictated by them in ways other than directly influencing Vessel.
