There's something Different and distinct about how Tumblr treated Twitter refugees vs Reddit ones and I can't put my finger on it exactly, but if I had to describe it:
Introducing Twitter people to here was like hiring a new intern where we walked them through the most basic workings of the company with a healthy amount of blatant pity and condescension while they told us about Gen z celebrity drama that we have no clue about
But Reddit people is like an experienced worker getting transferred from a different office and we're showing them where their cubicle is and how to log in and leaving them to it, and telling them that yeah it really is okay to just go get yourself a bagel from the break room, I know your last boss yelled at you but you don't have to ask permission here, it's all good man just have a bagel

I love when people learn what acting is when they see an actor making an acting choice & they’re like “that wasn’t even in the script omg” as if most stage directions say “shuffle your fingers 4 inches to the left” instead of actors embodying characters through body language

i find it soo intriguing to look at threads of japanese people learning english and discussing confusing grammatical rules because it really is the same thing as what english speakers learning japanese do and talk about. like for as many pages as i had to read to actually understand the difference between は and が i just read a thread in japanese where someone was so confused about why its “i ate some bread” and not “i ate a bread”. like its so interesting to think about things in english that feel so natural to me

Oddest evolution of twitter leftism i’ve seen is some girl derailing a post about kids getting shot in the kansas city parade shooting and people talking about how crazy and sad and uniquely american it is and she says “imagine what it’s like to be in gaza”…… 🙃🤨 Huh?

literally it does not matter if twitter users come here, it does not matter if they start discourse or act cringy, just block and do not engage 😭 the only thing that matters is if enough of them come and complain about the way the site works that staff changes it but I highly doubt the people wanting an algorithm or whatever are gonna be sticking around long enough to make that happen
