Okay, finally caught up on the full VOD and here are some messy thoughts
...
So. UHHH. On a gut emotional level, I fucking hated that lmao. Whole chapter of my life finished with a bang and a whimper. Las Nevadas Labor Union is over, y'all. The boss just deny, defend, deposed himself. Holy shit.
On an intellectual, thematic level... I... can't really... argue with that? Like, we didn't actually expect a character that cc!Q explicitly said was inspired by Walter White to receive a happy ending or a functional relationship, did we? We were really high on our copium supply, good grief.
I could, and still might, write a whole meta about how c!Quackity has been passively suicidal with a foreshortened sense of future for a very long time. As far back as Doomsday, he didn't care if he lost his life, as long as he got to watch those who hurt him go down first. He declared so many times that he would die with his country. He was incessantly compared to c!Wilbur, both by other characters and by the narrative itself. He was fucking terrified of being betrayed again, but he always expected it, and moreover did nothing to prevent it. He told c!Foolish and c!Purpled outright that they would have every right to kill him for what he did to them. Didn't even consider making himself immortal with the revival book, instead focusing on making sure c!Dream would no longer have it. Didn't fight back when Slime killed him. Doubled down on his mistakes, and in hindsight rationalized everything as inevitable. Wrested back control the only way he knew how, following another's model. Las Nevadas was a broken institution, built by a man who had given up on fixing anything. His story was always about the self-perpetuating cycle of power and abuse.
This... isn't shocking, unfortunately. If anything, it was too obvious an ending.
I won't go too deep into the OOC implications, because they will make me sound... way more parasocial than I want to be. But I don't think it's controversial to say that the DSMP holds a lot of complicated, difficult, bittersweet memories for many of its former members. It does not surprise me at all that the ending cc!Q chose for his arc was an unhappy one. There are several possible conclusions I would have greatly preferred, but none could have realistically happened without Certain People returning. I wonder how aware the creator was of that, and how much those emotions bled into the writing.
And while I'm... still not certain how I feel about c!Quackity blowing himself up even after being given a second chance (I will always prefer "live and try to do better" à la Bojack Horseman for characters like this), I see the in-universe logic behind it, and everything up to that point was completely in character. Right down to his denial of having ever done the deed, boasting that his enemies deemed him important enough to kill, while ironically taking hollow pride in denying them the chance to take the revenge he so desperately sought for himself, showing no mercy to who he maybe subconsciously believed was his greatest obstacle to true glory... ughhh, c!Quackity makes me so fucking SAD you guys-
Ahem. Anyway. Could he have forgiven himself? Would he have ever accepted the forgiveness of others? Perhaps, perhaps not. In two other lives, those he unknowingly gave a second chance to, he did. q!Quackity went on living for the sake of someone he loved, knowing he, too, was loved. k!Quackity went on living until he found justice, knowing he did not deserve to be wronged. c!Quackity... what other legacy would he have left? Does he know what he truly wanted, before all that fear and hunger for control tainted his heart? Was he content to know someone would remember him with a shred of fondness? That he left a single positive impact? That his life did have a purpose? What if he knew that even some of those with the most reason to hate him still wanted him to be better?
I suppose one might imagine an open-ended resolution, exchanging that last shot of c!Q's last life vanishing with him riding Boner/Ossium away from the explosion and into the sunset to build a better legacy. What would that new legacy look like? I have no idea. I don't think he knows yet, either. But we can pick our favorite based on the day. Time travel is real, and canon is made up. We can do what we want forever now. Enjoy.
...
He's not a fucking gringo, though. c!Quackity is Mexican, importantly so, full fucking stop. Stop infecting him with more Trump particles than he already had. "Oh great, a foreigner" honestly FUCK you Alex. 0/10 for that
#i have not written any dsmp analysis in so long#didn't even realize how much i missed this. how much this character really meant to me.#i feel... fuck. i wrote hundreds of words about how i feel and i still don't know how i feel.#thank you quackity from las nevadas... for rekindling my inner english major lmaooooooo#dsmp#c!quackity#tw suicide#analysis

Hell, even hazbin fortelling happened
Almost a year ago I believed the writing of HB may be leading us to some nuisance? That some of the holes and convenience that began to pop up, technically at the end of season one, had been intentional. The parent series HH was on it's way in the next few weeks, so surely it will expand on all we know, teaching us more and the two shows will complement eachother.
I admit I was wrong.
The Mammon episode was the last before Hazbin Hotel started and wow did it let us know of what was to come.
Dropping insight into the future was common in season one but died off this time around, only this episode created a standard for both series to abide by when we got Mammon as an irredeemable, all encompassing God like villain like no other, boo hiss at this guy because the characters we like are selectively morally just dispite vocation and if they are attracted royalty then the power imbalance frequently referenced doesn't exist
yet this big bad we got is almost Beetlejuice and Oogie merged together complete with their undeniable competence, this characters home and place of operation is actual hell and we are good as told that this character is the worst of the worst for being a bother to some side characters over business?
Why did I highly these points you may ask? So that we remember
where this is set?
who is a threat or at the very least in the way of the characters we follow and why?
most importantly, what do our main characters do? Why are we following them? What's their motive? What does the series description say?
This episode absolutely butcher likable meanies Fizz and Ozzie, who played out like OOC (or who even knows these days) Stolas x Blitzø in a fanfiction, with their content creating more questions than answers.
This episode featured Blitzø for no other reason but there otherwise would be no lead characters. It created the chance for him to reflect on his own obnoxious, helluva bad boss behaviour, to not only make him relevant in this episode but show us his growth in future episodes, but no, we go on to see IMP at work less than ever and fewer interactions with no real proof of a better dynamic, Blitzø has become more subdued, but this change can only be accredited to his desperation to impress/cheer up Stolas.
Hazbin starts with a storybook that places Lucifer, Lilith and Charlie at the top. We already knew they would be but what did we get.
We meet Adam in the first episode, he meets Charlie in the first episode, he's no threat to her but he's the big bad. Episodes pass and nobody has any particular power or understanding, Charlie's goal is pointless, we learn about what Lucifer thinks and allows but none of it is ever bought up (even though this could have offered solid reasoning behind the well used horrible partent subplot) he's uwu soft life like his daughter and that's all that matters.

This is on my tiktok but I wanted to post it here too bc it's really been bugging me
The caption essentially said that if I see a characterisation I don't like (I used the example of big buff alpha remus) I just scroll because clearly the content was made for someone else and I'm not the target audience
#let people have different interpretations#let out of character fics exist#there's no one right way to write and view a character#if someone wants to throw out canon and write their own interpretation that is AMAZING#if someone wants to explore what one change (such as the black cousins being in an abusive household) could have on the story LET THEM#stop crushing the creativity of young teens because you can't have fun#marauders era#marauders#mwpp#feel kind of bad tagging this with all the fandom tags I'm sorry :/ I just wanted to get it out there#to show people who do write 'ooc' interpretations thay that is FINE#and most people are SO PROUD that you're able to explore and share that creativity with us#dldr#DON'T LIKE DON'T READ#remember that?#there's nothing wrong with liking canon characterisation but you don't have to be a dick about it#you don't have to force it onto everyone around you#they're allowed to make their own versions up#dead gay wizards#id feel so bad putting ship or character tags#bc that's not the content ppl on the tags wanna see so I won't

The other night I met this guy in a bar. While drinking he silently looked at me, almost long enough for me to snap at him and punch his face.
But then he suddenly said: "You've got BPS, right? Borderline?"
At first I thought he was kidding, so I snorted. Showed him my - tattooed - wrists.
"I'm not a fucking wristcutter, man."
Though I've had cigarette burn marks on them. And they didn't have been there accidentially. Plus I like knifeplay, and not only being at the giving end when it comes to that.
Anyway, he then started to explain what symptoms this disorder actually comes along with.
It hit home. So fucking much.
At some point I asked him how he got an idea I might have BPS.
"I've seen the pain in your eyes", he said. Quite a little over-dramatic I guess.
However, I ended up with two empty bottles of vodka and a new cigarette burn mark on my arm.
#about fuji#(ooc: even if i wanted to i couldn't write a mentally healthy person xD)#(though this stirs me up now a lot)#(could be i can let him unfold his personality more knowing what's wrong with him xD)#(i need to process this because damn)#(this gives me actually a red string when it comes to his acting etc and could be a new source of inspiration)#(anyway he sometimes shows heavy symptoms so i'm sorry xD)

being somewhat happy that rouge is included and given focus as a main character in sonic prime but then being sad again because apparently shes literally not in character at all ever and they just forgot what her role/story is supposed to be. literally not a single mention of the fact shes a spy so far. tragic tragic world
#though to be fair. most characters feel ooc in prime#im trying to get my thoughts organized while watching prime but idk it all just feels kinda Wrong#i cant tell if really the writing is bad or if i just personally dont vibe with it#but idkkkk i just dont like how they work most characters including sonic himself whos SO more unlikeable than usual#by far the most interesting character in the whole show is Nine and at least i can be happy he exists cause hes awesome#makes me wish the other alternative versions of the characters were as interesting as nine is#🧃.txt

(( Perhaps ironically for Miranda — she doesn't actually correct pronoun useage in the slightest.
Primarily this is because her using she/her is a formality to begin with, not something that she actually cares about or feels innately. It's a weird thing that was insisted upon her by landfolk and within their languages, and it's something that she understands they care about a whole lot. If anything, she feels more stress about getting other people's pronouns correct than her own, because it's a layer of politeness and proper behavior that never existed for her to begin with, that she has no idea how to clue in on in the same way that landfolk seem innately aware of, and something that she's all too aware of getting sharply corrected on.
To Miranda, having a landfolk use the "wrong" pronouns for her feels like nothing. She feels no kinship towards she/her or they/them, and she feels no kinship towards he/him or it/its or anything else in the same degree. They're all equally as wrong, she just picked one set to make the landfolk happy. She understands rationally that she should be upset about this, in the sense that, to landfolk, this is a great focus of proper address, but she also just really doesn't care. As a Merkingdom royal, all of her focus is on her people's titles and proper address among them, and even respecting landfolk's titles and claims feels like she's just humoring them and playing along without any real belief.
She might take offense at it/its, but this is seldom due to it/its specifically. Rather, if someone is just generically treating her as an animal or as a non-person, they're more likely to use it/its for her, and Miranda's outrage at being dismissed and depersonalized can look a lot like getting upset over being misgendered.
#Most secret royal advisor || OOC#Given by Divine Right || Headcanons#(( and when i say this. do understand that when miri accidentally misgenders someone its truly random#(( she will misgender the most obvious cis person in the world if shes forced to use a pronoun for them without knowing it beforehand#(( because. gender just legitimately doesnt exist for merfolk.#(( they dont know what a man is. they dont know what a woman is. they dont know when someone is breaking these rules.#(( she has no idea how this system works and its basically random guesswork for her#(( functionally theres no way to refer to miranda with pronouns without misgendering her as well#(( because she has no gender. she uses no gendered pronouns.#(( even gender neutral pronouns is presuming she exists within this system when she doesnt#(( the she/they is a compromise and one that miranda doesnt particularly know much about#(( and she feels varying levels of frustration over how little she understands it over how important it is for landfolk#(( also this is funny because. ironically. when i show miranda to non-monprom people.#(( she gets he/him'd a lot#(( which is a little odd for a giant bright pink thing#(( but also i love it. love the thought that most people end up he/him'ing her at first#(( and she just never corrects it or cares#(( i ultimately never write this because i know other people wouldnt be comfortable with it. but just know.#(( miranda will wait as long as possible if she doesnt know someones pronouns to use any pronouns at all#(( and if forced she will usually just pick randomly and be wrong#(( because she just has no association with gender whatsoever

Sorry for being shippy but… does dabi like, like-like hawks in imaginary? Or is it a “i pity you moderately good looking bird” situation?
ill be fr, i've never gotten to the part in the anime/manga where dabi and hawks interact. i might joke around with them and if i ever catch up on the series, we'll see how it goes from there
#... actually i never got to the part.. when hawks shows up#i honestly am flying with hawks by the seat of my pants and his wiki page and my friend ro's characterization of him#and 'every time hawks shows up in the anime' and 'hawks analysis' youtube videos#if hawks is ooc let it be known that i didnt intend for him to steal a spotlight in imaginary he just kind of casually demanded it#my asks#imaginary#in fact. about to put myself on blast here#the whole reason i 'changed' canon and Hawks attended UA was bc. Hawks was a brand new character at the time i was writing the fic.#and little ol me just fucking. assumed he'd gone to UA for some reason#so i wrote it that way#that was not like a deep intentional change that was me fucking around with a character and finding out#i think i read another fic where he was at UA. thats why#but anyway#hes still roped into the commission's shit dont get me wrong. but for whatever reason i thought the commission enrolled him into hero schoo#on top of their conditioning#youll have to forgive my four-years-ago self. i did my best lmfao#again: whoopsie!#hawks doesnt repeatedly show up in imaginary because of plot (though it works out in the recent arcs). he shows up because of vibes#and a repeated middle finger in my face

#bro i can’t with the way some people love to sanitise this show to a certain degree#like when it comes down to it#they’re all fucked up#saying a certain plot was a mistake or ooc#bc they’re fucked up people who fuck up and do bad shit#like be real lol#do whatever you want in fanon#but the whinging and blaming when bad ppl do bad thing#when they’re actually awful to each other#when they fuck up each others lives and psyches#like YEAH.#THATS THE POINT#they’re so awful it extends right to the people they love the most#you’re in the wrong place if you think the gang hurting each other is out of character or ‘bad writing’#this isnt about retcons btw this is about certain later seasons#bc yes i think we all agree the show did get softer#but it shouldn’t be whiplash to the point of blaming random writers and saying ‘that’s not canon’ when they’re fucked up people still#anyway can’t wait for frank to shoot one of them on purpose#and for one of them to kick dennis when he’s in fetal position breakdown#hope charlie tries to drive on the road trip and hits mac with the car and blames him for being a gay loser about it#no one gets us man…#sorry i’m sleep deprived what else is new

looking at those two gifsets back to back makes me 😭 just the tension in his jaw and the intensity in s1, the way he's clearly bottling so much in.... to the s3 set where he's relaxed and in a robe and being spooned by his wife and doesn't have a single care in the universe???? i know that's my boy i'm so emotional over him
#it's 2am it's not my fault#i. 「 ooc. 」#i feel like anthony being second really made his arc a lot less awkward than other characters#don't get me wrong it's b*ton so there's still plenty of awkward writing BUT he got set-up growth and resolution right in a row#whereas other characters like ben or e.loise or even c.olin kind of float around in the wind until something's allowed to happen to them#and sometimes feel stagnant or underwritten#it's the structure of the show and not surprising given the format of the materal but#IDK IDK IDK

“Trunks should be more badass!” “Trunks should be more edgy!” “Trunks would be disappointed with how X turned out!”
Nah, Trunks shows that despite being someone who constantly struggles and has experiences the worst stuff that he’s still someone who keeps his humanity no matter what happens. At no point would him judging others harshly or taking a major level in cynicism make him more interesting, it’d just actually make him blend in with like 95% of other apocalyptic survivors in media.
He’s very interesting (to me) because he shows the opposite of side of a person who experiences the worst an apocalypse has to offer, instead of being an angry, jaded, bitter and cynical person, he’s kind, empathetic and attempts to do what he feels will help people. And despite constantly losing, it’s his determination that allows him to pull through and finally reach those goals for the good of himself and others.
A character not being a raging jerk who can never lose doesn’t mean they’re not interesting smh smh
#Out of Time (OOC)#this just popped in my head bc i saw someone write 'oh future trunks and gohan would be disappointed in their counterparts' like no? shut up#and don't get me wrong i do enjoy gritty pragmatic protagonists and i do love me an apocalypse#but part of my enjoyment from trunks is that he's so unlike the norm for that template#i can think of maybe like two apocalypse survivor mcs that don't fall into the same sort of template#where it's of 'cold and willing to do whatever it takes no matter who has to die' and i get it those kind of stories are about#the cruelties of humanity and showing desperation at its peak#but it makes me appreciate that trunks is so different than the norm despite being in the same situation#anyway rant over#idk if any of this made sense

absolutely wild to me that for me, i have the story laid out and the comics prepared ahead of time so it's one long sequence. but because it's posted bi-weekly, moments linger and the intended and unintended feelings of the scene last for days, if not weeks.
biggest point: tuesday and thursday work together to me in a simple scene of (set up) and (pay off). but without that pay off, you get a different impression than what i was expecting... i guess this is a microcosm of when i wrote Asriel as a total Jerkwad but I knew their true intentions the whole time. like it was easy to paint them so cruel, cause i knew the pay off was an interesting introspection and critique of capitalism and closeting/isolating oneself from loved ones and soceity.
one of these i gotta reread the story and try my best not to think about my perspective as the writer and think over how i protrayed asriel earlier on in the continue arc.
since you guys actually lived through it- what's your thoughts? did i go too hard in that portrayal? i remember at least one person thought i actually hated asriel because of this at one point afkjasdf
i should mention this chapter serves to humanize Asriel's breakdown and set up a couple aspects of their heel turn to face turn (what would that be called??) hard to explain but basically, you can see Asriel's callousness and "super villian" energy at full display but it's all painted in (what i hope) a very sympathetic and understandable light.
i reaaaally love the tug and pull "is asriel flowey? was asriel flowey all along?" dynamic of the story and i'm hoping this scene can be pointed to as evidence for either side of the arguement
#i also wanna strengthen the family's bonds by having them spend time with each other without drama and just having a nice time#but i think thats kinda... boring in itself and doesn't move the plot along#so it feels weird and hard to justify showing them just farting around enjoying each other but its important for the story to get some down#time after all that action#and i DO love the mundane and loving moments so don't get me wrong here#i'm talking about where characters are just... literally not doing anything. past the banter and characterization they're just not being#proactive. and its hard to write that#let alone pace and feel whats not boring for the reader...#hope i'm making sense#ANYWAY i get so frickin rambly at 1am#ooc#tbd#not art

While I do have show verses I will be TAILORING THEM basically au versions of the show bc Rand - is just...Rand won't be the Rand you see in the show. The Dragon is not the friends that you made along the way and Rand also didn't fck off to Cairhien to work in a mental health facility. He is v much Channeling and grappling with his own sanity at this time and he did fight his own battles. He also wasn't all HELP ME PLS to a fckn Forsaken. Just so show watchers know. It's a show verse but an AU show verse. ahem. He also cannot be shielded by ONE aes sedai and he isn't just a plot device for everyone else.
#.ooc#josha is great I love josha#but also#i love that everyone is so Sando critical after the reaction video COOL COOL OK fine criticize away#but THE DRAGON IS THE FRIENDS YOU MADE ALONG THE WAY is from Sanderson's books#I don't remember that or the dragon's peace being in RJ's books#correct me if I'm wrong but I don't remember that and no one has said the Dragon's Peace was in the notes that RJ left SO THERE'S THAT#neither was IT WASNT ABOUT ME it just sounds v Sando (fine by me tbh his SA is fantastic ) but to accept the show saying ITS THE FRENDS YOU#MADE ALONG THE WAY but say that Sando didn't write the books right when the show can't even get down the lore right#will i ever be over this? nope#wot spoilers#wot series spoilers#tagging spoilers jic
