I have been tutoring my son in his college course on American History from the Revolution to the end of the Civil War. He has struggled a bit with his essays and some of the quizzes. So I listened to the recorded lectures and did the readings to help him out. I don’t know how to say this but . . . I LOVE the course. And he now has an A. I want to go back to college and finish out that double major in History that I was so close to getting.

This is such a bummer. Tell me you’re a privileged, entitled, myopic Boomer without telling me you’re a privileged, entitled, myopic Boomer.

It’s interesting to me that he says these legendary sit-coms, none of which were cruel, punching down, or hurtful, but were actually satirizing power, celebrating women, changing societal norms through representation, and using comedy to do it all, wouldn’t exist if “the extreme left” had anything to do with it.

Umm. Who does he think created these shows? And is he really that ignorant? Has this guy never read a single interview with Norman Lear? Or literally anyone in the cast of Mary Tyler Moore? I mean. Come on, man!

Teenagers and college students don’t know what they’re talking about when they tell a privileged, entitled, multimillionaire Boomer that his “jokes” can be hurtful, and maybe he could use his tremendous talent to do comedy that is just as funny without being hurtful. Okay. Got it. Keep saying that, and see how far it gets you, buddy.

LORE | REKINDLED EPISODE 42 - TO THE RESCUE

Y'all, this episode. Holy crap. I know it's not a very long one and not much in terms of plot happens compared to previous episodes, but it's one that I've been looking forward to for ages now because it gave me the opportunity to pay tribute to that original sequence in S1, a sequence that captivated so many fans and former fans of the comic such as myself (I had the final panel as my phone background for like 2 years LMAO). Being able to redraw that scene with our own twist on it was such an amazing process, made all the better by @banshriek's amazing contributions in the background art (seriously, the background art is CARRYING this episode, I'm so grateful and proud of their work and how much they've contributed to this little spite project).

What also helped immensely was our recent anon savior who provided us with so many brush names and design notes for how they're used in LO, we had waaay too much fun using these brushes every chance we got LOL and we're gonna continue to use them because goddamn they're beautiful. Buckle up because the new year is gonna be LIT (•̀⌄•́)

In other news, halfway through the production of this episode I finally replaced my PC drawing tablet! I'm still using my Huion Kamvas 22 Plus as a monitor, but in searching for a new screen tablet, I got cold feet and decided to settle for a cheaper desk tablet instead, a Huion Inspiroy Giano. So far it's great, it's a bit on the larger side which I didn't fully realize when I bought it, so it's taken quite a bit of adjusting (plus I haven't used a desk tablet as my main drawing tool in... geez, 8 years??) but it's like riding a bike, you never really forget LOL So yeah, it's gonna make my drawing workflow a lot faster and more efficient now that I don't have to rely purely on my iPad (goodbye touch screen mishaps, hello keyboard shortcuts!) so I'm hoping it'll show in the episodes to come!

I’ve been playing Scarlet Hollow and HOLY CRAP it’s great go play it <3 so here’s fanart of my canon Scarlet.

My pc Sasha is a bit of a goofball, not the brightest at times, and a little too eager to involve herself in everyone’s business, but she’s very perceptive and empathetic, a good listener and great with people, so they generally allow it. (being barbie-doll levels of adorable also helps, obviously.)

She lives in a small apartment with her cat Truck in Memphis, and is studying psychology, as she wants to be a couples and family therapist. She has a massive romantic streak, loves to play matchmaker, and is fascinated by big, complex family structures and dynamics, because it was always just her and her mom, with the rest of her family a huge forbidden mystery. Because of this she jumped on the chance to get to know more about the Scarlets after her mom passed.

She gets along pretty well with everyone in the holler, but is very loyal to Tabitha as her last remaining family, and is attracted to/fascinated by Reese (tortured, mysterious artists are her absolute type) from the moment she meets him.

What is considered both a reasonable and maximum polycount for custom content hair and other types of custom content in The Sims 2 and does it depend on gaming specs? Also your work is great!

I, personally, use hair that is under 25K polys unless it's unique and cute. Anything over that is overboard and should get decimated. Any furniture or clothing over 10K is extreme for me.

As for specs, I'm inclined to believe that it's a game limitation, how powerful your computer specs are, and a secret third and fourth thing, your OS, and if you're a laptop user.

This OS talk is a side tangent, so bear with me:

Big disclaimer that this is all my opinion, not a factual piece. Don't take this as gospel and I'm far from an expert on operating softwares, computers, and CC for that matter. I went a little bit insane with the OS talk because you mentioned specs and this has been on my mind for a while 🥴

Every single time I've heard that someone installed TS2 on Linux, they are able to play on maximum settings with a BUNCH of CC for a long time and experience no pink soup or pink soup related crashing. I want to do my own research and play the same heavily detailed lot for the same amount of time on Windows and Linux and compare the differences as well as compare how they use resources differently. If I already did not have an attachment to Photoshop CC 2017, I would have made the switch by now.

Okay so Windows... I've played TS2 on my Asus laptop from 2020 and on my new desktop. Here's the spec difference

Laptop: Intel Core i7-9750H 6 Core Processor, 8 GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 (Windows 10)

Desktop: AMD Ryzen 5 2600X Six-Core Processor, 16 GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti (Windows 11)

My laptop was really good for it's time (I bought it in March 2020), but it was pink soup galore for any cluttered CC lot, even with all of the fixes and GRM edits. My current setup is a mish mosh of my bf's and ex's computer parts and it runs perfectly fine, but I do not play long enough to encounter pink soup. (I have a job and I mainly play to get CC previews these days.) If you noticed, both my CPU and GPU were made before my laptop was sold, and yet it still performs way better. Laptops with top of the line hardware will never be more powerful than PCs with even mid to high level hardware from 5 years ago. Don't forget that laptops will throttle performance to protect itself from overheating and causing damage.

There is also no difference between installing and playing the game on Windows 10 and Windows 11, except that you should absolutely uninstall OneDrive if you haven't already. There might be some issue if you install with discs, but I don't own the discs.

And as for Mac, I truly believe that Mac is the worst way to experience Sims 2. Between the Super Collection crap, not being able to use third party tools (SimPE, Hair Binner, any other .exe files made to run for Windows), and the file limit that really hits you hard if you download a bunch of CC that you can't merge anyway because CCMerger can't run on Mac. I should say I have never played Sims 2 on a Mac, but this is my opinion after reading about the struggles of other MacOS users online.

The point of this OS tangent? None, really. I'm not trying to persuade you to use Linux or stop using Mac, this is simply what I've noticed and my opinions on the matter. There's millions of variables I did not cover such as DXVK, texture sizes, difference in specs between each OS and user and many other things I am forgetting.

hello!! i wanna start by saying i am completely blown away by woeford. it scratches a very specific itch, something i’ve always been searching for in the sims. words can’t even begin to describe how incredible i think the town is. honestly it might be my favorite environment in any video game i’ve played period. i am grateful for you, nornities and everyone else who worked on this masterpiece of a project.

and i’m wondering, do you know of any similar towns/have any plans of creating a town with decaying vibes but in a forest setting? my pc cannot handle very large worlds, and because i’ve been playing ts3 for the last 15 years i’m pretty bored of every world they’ve offered at this point. jus tryna scope out any and all creepy ‘crappy’ scrappy small towns i can. thank you so much!!!

As far as Small crappy, creepy, dystopian type worlds in a forest setting go, I know of none, sadly. Maybe someone out there that sees this might know of one they can tell us about? You could also check this blog out for worlds and other awesome content.

I can highly recommend Cronor if you haven't already had a look, it's a medium sized world. I agree though, very few worlds out for TS3 in this particular style, which is a real shame.

As far as my plans for future crap goes, I am always working on something, you never know what the future holds, but it wont be anytime soon. Food for thought though 😉

I heard about Encanto from one of my friends. Luckily, my local shop just had cheap copies

A crack fic because why not?

I remember it as if it happened yesterday. Probably because it happened yesterday.

I was shopping in our local cheap convenience store, when my eyes spotted something. A CD with Encanto. A Disney Movie my friend didn't stop talking about. I was somehow intrigued as she really praised it. Part of me was surprised. It was 2024, who the hell uses CD disks in that time?

Luckily, my parents hadn't update our PC since before my birth, so it wasn't a problem.

For my huge relief, it was at markdown. How could anyone miss a chance like this?

The first thing that made me feel uncomfortable happened when I unpacked the box at home. Some idiots decided that, apparently, putting two covers was a brilliant idea. They looked exactly the same, only that the second was black and white.... Okay, maybe it FAR from exactly the same. But anyway, it was cheap. There probably would be some defects.

So, as I had beaten up the computer system unit to make it run and inserted a disk, the image immediately floated. CRAP! It's a virus... PC is probably dest—

"Hola," I froze, staring at the screen. Seeing a young man in here. "You had found a true version of the movie. The one that Disney had tried to destroy." Okay, what the heck? "Please, spread this version, the world has to knpw the truth about my wife and descendants."

Okay, why does it sound like I'm in some cheap creepypasta story?

I had leaned back in my chair, opening a pack of snack. Well, I had to do the best comfort, right?

A corn growing in a pot appeared on the screen.

"Open your eyes." An old woman asked, holding a girl. The magic corn of the Madrigal family? What? What are stories are they doing these days...

The visual was showing a young old woman (not really old then) and a man that I had seen in the beginning standing in a burning field. The entire food was destroyed. But then a man dropped dead because why not and one last corn grew bright and created a huge field.

"When my children came of age, the corn had given them magic gifts to serve our fields!" I listened to the explanation, intrigued. I wonder what would a girl's gift be.

Time switched to a years later. Pacing through the routine where a Tía Pepa rains on the crops. Julieta cooks. Dolores listens to the parasites. Camilo shapeshifts to have better physical strength. Isabela grows corn and Luisa plows the land. Such a good strong family! Everyone has a... What do you mean Mirabel doesn't have a gift??

Apparently, her door had dissapeared! Poor girl, but at least her family does really good even so. Mirabel is really sweet! She's such a good prima to Tonito! And she had even make a plush corn for him!

Gladly, Antonio got a gift. I breathed out with relief, knowing that the family was good.

But then... The family took a picture with corn... They took it all and Mirabel hadn't get any! Really sad... I wish her all corn in the world!

WHAT?? THE CORN IS WITHERING?? Oh no! What if they'll be left without any food? But once Mirabel calls everyone, everything looks fine. But it was definitely wrong ten seconds ago?

Honestly, this family just couldn't't catch a break. Abuela confirmed that the corn is indeed in danger. And at the next morning Luisa acted really off.

Oh, I guess being forced to work all day wasn't fun. I thought she was happy being useful, but she is breaking from the weight of a plow on her shoulders. At least we now knew about a vision.

Bruno's room looked awful. So abandoned. You can't grow anything in here. And lots of stairs! Too many for it to be legal! And the vision has Mirabel. Of course, it's always the protagonist in the centre of everything.

Tía Pepa told how her brother ruined her wedding corn but making ber rain too hard. She ended up flooding it. And while Mirabel was bisy with a vision the family did... something. Either preparing for the dinner or crying because her gift and corn are withering.

Mirabel in a empty field. Crap, it so tense! I bit my finger, waiting for the outcome.

The dinner was disastrous. All corn is rotting! Everyone saw Mirabel in a vision. And rats grabbed it taking it into the walls! Whre a strange man lives. Honestly, if I was Mirabel, I would immediately move the hell outta here. I mean, sure, it's her Tío. But why the hell does house have an apartment inside its walls??

No, dude, I understand everything, but how tf did you manage to live in the freaking walls for ten years? Oh, well, I probably should had expected that.

They take another vision where Mirabel hugs Isabela. Honestly, Isa was pretty rude through most of the movie. But that's what siblings are for.

Their talk grows into another musical number where Isabela makes a corn that looks like somebody had injected drugs into it. Pretty normal, I'm seeing it every odd Tuesday.

The moment where Mirabel and Abuela are arguing are literally makes me cry. And the corn is all dead! NO, NO, MIRA, SWEETY, DON'T GO!

At the next morning we get to see Abuela's story. The loss of her husband made her too closed and protective. And feeling like thay have to deserve the food. I had never thought Abuela had suffered so much...

But, together the family can make a new field even without their gift! And, what's even better, the entire village goes to help. They wanted to pay back after all those years of food supply from the Madrigals.

In the end of the day, they are family. And they are in it together. This movie needs to stop being so damn sweet, or I'm gonna flood my floor with tears like I'm Pepa.

The magic returns? But, now, the Madrigals are imperfect! I hope they will get even better!

How could Disney lie about the true version? They so annoying! No, listen, guys, how about we sue them to make a true version of Encanto get the fame it deserves?

Sega Mega Drive - Puyo Puyo (Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine)

This is the original of the now ruined by Sega (to some people) puzzle game, Puyo Puyo. The original Puyo Puyo games by Compile were so much more atmospheric than the more modern in-your-face crap that Sega now produce (started with Puyo Puyo Fever). The last true Puyo Puyo game was Puyo Puyo 4 or Yon for the Dreamcast. You may have seen this Mega Drive Puyo Puyo in the west as Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine.

The original Japanese game follows the adventures of Arle Nadja. On her travels, she comes across various enemies such as skeletons that drink green Japanese tea to the Devil. In the land of Puyo though battles are undertaken by seeing who can combine jelly-like blobs onto each other in groups of 4 or more to perform combinations just as in Columns. These blobs in case you haven’t worked out are the Puyo. Puyo is actually the Japanese word for blobby and squidgy.

The concept of Puyo Puyo is just like any other action puzzle game out there, stack, combine and fall. The difference in Puo Puyo though is the ability to stack and combine in vertical and horizontal chains unlike in Tetris where you must have a straight line. It’s sort of like Columns in a way.

Mega Drive fanboys will probably insist that the Mega Drive version of Puyo Puyo is better than the Super Famicom version. This simply isn’t true. As far as playability goes, they are both pretty much equal. The downside of the Mega Drive version definitely falls on the audio quality. The speech is awful, and the music isn’t a patch on the SFC version (Super Puyo Puyo also by Compile but published by Banpresto) or the later PC Engine Super CD version (Puyo Puyo CD by NEC Avenue) although it’s not too bad. Colors are also lacking in this Mega Drive conversion. Still, if you don’t own a SFC or PC Engine then this is still a great game however maybe I’d buy Puyo Puyo 2 only if I had to own a Mega Drive Puyo Puyo game.

ok hi i am currently making my way through all of ur recs and its a LOT of music so its probs gonna take me a couple of days . that being said what ive heard so far i REALLY like

wanna start with what id already heard, ofc Daytona USA OST is great, id say my favorite songs from there were either Sky High or Pounding Pavement, very hard choice.... good stuff all around tho to be sure

i listened to a couple of tracks from FL2LT and id say Could Be or Sling Shot are my favs there, i really love how he always does his vocals, that shit always rocks and it really shines here from what ive listened to so far

finally MAN all of Mitsuyoshi's tracks from Sega Rally 2006 absolutely fuck. every track i heard was awesome, especially Temptation of Speed, Iron Bullfight, and Muddi'n Bass, pumpin tracks that sound like a perfect fit for a rally game (really makes me wanna give it a shot... the last time i tried a rally game, Michelin Rally Masters, was also for the soundtrack, but i didnt mesh with it that much. maybe ill like Sega Rally more,,)

ANYWAYS those are my first impressions. ill keep u updated on my listening experience, and thank u for the recs, ive been really enjoying it so far :D

Hell yeah I love "could be"! Its one of my favorite tracks from Crackin' DJ Part 2.

I enjoy Sling Shot a whole lot... buuut I do kinda preffer Dennis St. James ngl. Idk I feel his voice fits more Daytona 2 but I would be lying if I said Mitsuyoshi didnt give a great performance.

Sega Rally rocks! Its one of my favorite racing game series, straying away from simulation racing to focus on the joy of drifting arround in a rally course.

2006 is great buuut I highly recommend starting with the original and its sequel!

Sega Rally '94 was ported to PS2 and Saturn

PS2 is a straight port of the arcade version while saturn has a bit funkiness due to it being a much weaker machine than the Sega Model 2 but its still great tho!

Highly recommend the "Plus Netlink" release because of the 3D analog pad support.

2 was ported to DC and Windows... but both versions are bad.

Long story short: SR2 for DC was built arround the Windows CE support that the Dreamcast had. WinCE support was mainly there to make it so developers had an easy time working with the hardware and little trouble bringing their stuff to PC... problem is, windows CE on DC was crap and was much more limiting than it should have been

(so much so SEGA just gave developers their own simple OS so they didnt have to use CE (Using CE was still an option but... nobody used it))

Visuals are much worse and it runs like straight garbage and PC is just DC but at an acceptable framerate.

Emulating the Model 3 ver is the way to go.

Its a bit of a hurdle but its super worth it imo. Its one of my absolute favorite games.

If it's a JPEG or PNG it's not HDR. It's just tone mapping.

JPEG needs taking out back and euthanising. There are better formats and have been for like 15 years.

In any situation where there is a clearly better option, someone will contrive a way to fuck the situation up so massively that everyone will just keep using the shitty scenario. That someone is usually Sony.

Thess vs The Fae

Sometimes I have fun on reddit.

By which I mean, sometimes I scare the living hell out of reddit.

Look, someone was talking in r/rpghorrorstories about how the party was supposed to bring someone's daughter back, but one player was playing Chaotic Stupid and had the character kill the daughter first, saying, "You didn't say she had to be alive..." So there was this whole argument about whether the NPC parents were breaking some kind of deal by attacking the asshole who pulled that crap with them.

I am possibly one of the most pedantic people on the planet about some things. Challenge me, and I will poke the Jenga tower of logic until it screams. So I put in my tuppence: "Well, if you want to get into semantics, a daughter is a person. PC brought them a corpse. There's something intrinsically missing there. Like buying a DVD and only getting the case".

Two people referred to that as a truly terrifying, if wonderful, analogy.

One of those straight-up asked me if I was fae. Said I had to tell them if I was because they asked directly, because apparently it's like with undercover cops.

Again, challenge me and I will poke the Jenga tower of logic until it screams. My response was, "I'm human as far as I know; my players might argue that I'm fae, though, and I guess there's always a chance I'm a changeling".

And then, because I am a smart-ass, added, "...That answer is not helping my case, is it."

- Defiant type

- Black French. Cusses at the locals in his native tongue.

- His love interest is Robin. Promised to protect him until the end.

- Probably bisexual with male leaning.

- Might as well assassinate someone for money.

- Is basically friends with most of the criminals (Landry, Wren, Briar).

- Despite all the cockiness and fury, stays optimistic (even shows kindness to those who don't want to ride him).

- Prefers being in charge, but will act submissive if it's beneficial for him (ex. dates with Avery).

- Ended up in an orphanage due to being a refugee with no shelter. He came along with an olive winter jacket that has a handmade patch. He desperately refused to give it in, as he claims it's "the only thing left from old man". "Fuckface" is more an affection to him than an insult, but only when spoken by his former father.

- Has mixed feelings towards Bailey. Though he views him as a threat and constantly fights him, he still thinks of him as some sort of a father figure, even if it's a messed up one.

- Has rivalry with Whitney, but in a "bro" kind of way. He would beat the crap out of this blond dude, only to cheerfully greet him at the park and try to have a conversation.

- Sees Sydney as a friend you can dump your religious trauma onto (Jean was in a religious family so now he's a hard atheist). No romantic feelings whatsoever.

- Viewed Kylar as an unhinged friend ("Everyone must have at least one, right?"), until he kidnapped him. Has beaten him so many times before he was sent to prison. No regrets.

- Hates the farms (*cough* underground farm *cough* Remy), but enjoys drinking with Alex.

- Genuinely terrified of Ivory Wraith (and doesn't have strong opinions on Eden, Black Wolf and Great Hawk, though he kinda vibes with the big bird woman).

- Favorite job so far: Sirris' shop.
