Better Open The Door Pt 9

Thundercracker x Reader

• If you think about it as a vacation from reality, it’s a bit easier. Of course, usually you aren’t very likely getting evicted from your apartment or making teams of people comb the woods for your body while on vacation. It may not have even come to that, but knowing your family, you doubt it. Stretched out on Thundercracker’s chassis alongside his canopy as he watches the screen upside down, you try not to unravel thinking about maybes. Playing nice for the big guy in the hopes that he will in fact get bored eventually.

• Servos resting on your back, he can feel the steady beat of your heart against him as he halfway pays attention to the movie. Probably thinking he’s not aware that every time it’s your turn to pick, it’s a sci-fi horror movie. Evil aliens. Is that what you think he is? Watching Xenomorphs picking off humans, isn’t exactly flattering if you are drawing some mental parallel between him and those things. “We could have been watching something warm and cozy,” he mutters and you look down at him. You’d made it abundantly clear that you didn’t appreciate the hallmark channel. Or the romance. So stubborn.

• Absolutely not. He’s bad enough on his own, but when he’s watching those lovey dovey dramas, he gets so much worse. He gets inspired. Like he thinks he’s a hero in one of those stories at odds with, but still trying to win over the heroine. Namely, you. And besides, he’s more tactile when he’s watching those movies, his servos wandering until you have to smack at him. Watching an alien egg hatch and the face hugger scurrying off to find a host, you tap a foot on him. “How do you guys reproduce anyway?”

• You do think he’s something like those monsters. Primus. “Not like that,” he growls, shuddering as the spidery thing latches onto a host and he drags his eyes away to scowl at you. Seeing your lips twitch as you try not to smile. Messing with him. Nudging you over with one servo so you’re against his neck, he pulls back the plating covering his spark. And you suck in a sharp breath. “We need a spark, but there’s different ways to get there.” Knows he shouldn’t be doing this, showing you this. His truest self, vulnerable and fragile. But staring up at you, limned in the glow of his spark, you’re the loveliest thing he’s ever seen. He wants you to see him. All of him.

• That’s the hum you hear that lulls you to sleep. It feels strangely like trespassing. Like this isn’t meant for your eyes, but watching his spark pulse and shift, glowing softly is hypnotic. Making you want to reach for that warmth and safety. To fall into it and lose yourself there. It’s his servo against you that makes you realize you’re leaning out over his spark. And he’s staring at you with something between surprise and hunger. “I want you, but not until you want me, too.” And those words are like a bucket of icy water dumped on you, letting you push away from his spark and watching him hide that part of himself away. But it’s his words that snag at you. I want you.

Oh I absolutely hate it through and through. You cannot convince me that the movie is being made by people who love/appreciate/understand Minecraft in any capacity. Jack Black being cast as Steve is the worst part by far. I will absolutely not not be watching it.

That music was really nice actually.. I clicked on their most recent video and listened to it while trying to take down art theft and making this post. It was spooky yet very calming.

I've always wanted to make short pixelated game that just tells a cool story with some kind of haunting twist. But I'm really bad with tech so never dared to try and code something like that.

I originally shelved my FNAF AU because my health was/is still in shambles and I couldn't handle trying to keep up with such q big project. But now I'm not wanting to go back to it due to the constant art theft I've getting recently.

Thank you for the concern.. I'm doing my best to have thick skin about it and just focus on reporting it all.

They still exist for sure. But my persistent illness along with the mountains of art theft is keeping all my FNAF stuff on the shelf.

As for Roblox, I've been playing Creatures of Sonaria. Its a neat Gacha game where you get to run around as all these whacky creatures. So far my top 3 favorites are the Momola, Shararook and Jhiggo Jangl. Though I don't really play as Shararook because it moves so slowly and cant jump, climb or swim :(

And lastly, I really like that portrayal of Mario and Luigi! I imagine since Mario seems to be tough and a real go getter, he doesn't typically think situations all the way through and plan things out. He just jumps right in and sees what happens!.. Which don't usually turn out well <XD Giving him the appearance of the "dumber" brother as a result-

Meanwhile Luigi is more anxious and on the cautious side and is always thinking everything through before he does it. This makes me think he'd come out as the "smarter" brother who does a lot more thinking than doing. When in reality they're both pretty smart!

For now I'm kind of lurking. I'm going to go try and get a lot of my stuff taken down. Hopefully it works and that gives me the confidence to come back and post some more. I love the interactions I get and wanna keep sharing my drawings. I just gotta take some time to try and feel better I suppose..

Now the thing is, Eddie wont touch any of these foods. He'll only eat foods that look normal to our standards. And he doesn't really know why he's picky about this.. he just is..

same anon, do not apologize about taking an excuse to rant because it was a very enjoyable read 👍 especially because i share similar frustration regarding the lack of lore on rivain and even less lore on the lords as a faction. My very first rook was a lord and it was honestly kind of a miserable playthrough roleplaying wise 😭 i think i only got like five faction related dialogue options throughout the ENTIRE game!!! That combined with rook acting like they dont know anything about their own factions or even their own nation was absolutely maddening… anyway whoops sorry for my own little rant

RIGHT.... you do not have to apologise either anon i am right there with you. the map surrounding rivain being so nothing is just insult to injury when 1) like you said, almost no dialogue choices, 2) jack all content because i was running around for 70 hours hoping to find decor related to them/finding none because there IS none/absolutely nothing in the lighthouse being customised as a result and 3) they have decided the only thing you get to say about being a lord is repeating their catchphrase like this shit is scooby doo

the art book also has some pages on the lords that gave me mixed feelings lol spread that i scanned under the cut

i really thought that they would lean into the "mix and match" thing especially because even when i was designing my rook pre release, i was trying to incorporate elements of this! i was looking at duncan's armor to try and patch together something that reflected rivain! but when the game comes out it's just. orientalist. and there's a bull on my crotch. even though the art book discusses this idea of the lords having patchwork armor that they've stolen or put together because they're so diverse. there's a few designs in here that i would have loved to see in the game with the more piratey longcoats and hats, and if they were going to draw inspiration i wish they'd looked more at mauritius and south india (kerala, tamil nadu) instead of . i'm not actually sure what the fuck they were doing here. my first thought when i saw the jewelry and design in game had been indigenous south american? but ofc the longer i looked the more i leaned away from that initial judgement and the more i got confused, and what little we know of rivain is obviously inspired by south asia (asha's maiden name being bahadur, bharv, hari, etc. but there's also mateo?) so i think it is the tried and true method white people looove to do where they mishmash cultures into one place and then get defensive when poc say "we aren't interchangable like that"

visually i think veilguard is so so successful in most cases with that consideration of shape language, colors, etc (though sometimes i think it goes too far. let the crows wear black again) but rivain/the lords is one of the weaker ones because i wish there was something specifically rivaini that tied it all together. like if dragons are found here (presumably. taash has a reputation as a dragon hunter. they would need to hunt dragons in rivain) then maybe scale armor as an identifier. or if rivain is known for pearl farming then it features more in their armor. or if the climate is hotter, so the fabric they wear would be linen and would actually cover more of their skin to avoid sunburn! or if they wear lots of blue, is that because they're a producer of that dye? just worldbuilding things like this completely ignored to make their main thing 'lots of gold and it should be revealing' and be weirdly racist/orientalist in the process.

“We… need a less depressing question next.” Rayla wiped her eyes, and it stuck this time. She didn’t draw away though, just settled to get more comfortable in his lap, carefully adjusting to rest her head under his chin without her horns stabbing him in the neck. “So… what was the weirdest food you ate, since I saw you last? You said you went to Evenere for a diplomatic visit, and to Duren and all sorts of places?”

“Yeah, I did,” Callum said. “But the food there wasn’t that weird except for the snails.”

“Snails?! Yeah, that’s super weird. I didn’t even eat snails, and I ate lichen at some point, it was not for lack of desperation.” She paused. “I guess I answered the question too and it’s more sad than weird, it was lichen, for me. One out of five stars; do not recommend, will not elaborate. Anyway, going back to you… who eats snails?”

“The Evenerian nobility. Apparently. Even they don’t eat them for breakfast though, that was just me.”

“Callum, why…”

“I didn’t do it on purpose! You’ve seen the situations I accidentally get myself into, we know this about me!”

Her laughter vibrated against his chest.

“I’d been to Duren already, by then,” he continued. He had some explanation, after all. “And in Duren they have a kind of whirly bun with cinnamon that they call a snail, but of course it’s not really a snail, it’s just dough that’s shaped like a snail, and those were really good, so I ordered them when I saw snails on the menu during a diplomatic outing in Evenere… a casual meeting of minds with select Evenerian courtiers before an all-day political gathering.” He dreaded to think what they had thought of his mind after that. Probably that he was out of it. “And you know, I just met these people and I didn’t want to offend their country’s food by insinuating it was weird even though it was.”

“So you just sat there and ate snails for breakfast out of sheer awkwardness?” she giggled. “That… sounds like you.”

“I did. I ate the snails in garlic butter. At 7am. With hot chocolate as my drink accompaniment of choice.”

“That’s kinda a power move, if you pulled it off with confidence.”

“I did not.”

“Hey, maybe you looked cooler than you think?”

“I catapulted a buttery snail onto the window of the establishment with my fork, trying to get it out of its shell.”

“And maybe you looked good doing it? You have a way with breakfast foods, you know? I hold firm that those hairy butt fruits you love are also super weird, and back at the inn, you made eating those look just… so good. I’m sure those diplomats were also barely containing their desire for you.”

“Also, huh?”

“Mmmhmm. Also.” She shifted just so. “Then. Now. Always-”

“Rayla?”

“Yeah?”

“I’m done with questions.”

So i gave them a hat that more closely looked kinda chef like? though yes i do know that the hat is a cultural thing but i wanted it to look more pillowy and it also looks like a mushroom now. I also made bonnie dress in a shirt inspired by chef uniforms but with a less modern look by using lace to tie it close instead. also they have wrapped hands to probably cover up burns/could also be simply that maybe bonnie likes to practice boxing with Isabeau and they do basic wraps on their hands to help with soreness. uhh any other notes is that yes I'm a Petronile is buff truther and in my mind has a body type close to Vi from arcane (lean and muscular versus someone like Isabeau who is a bigger guy). Also as illuded in game (Very vaguely i think), Petronille took bonnie with her to escape an abusive household and hopefully give bonnie the loving guardian she wished had been there for her (i imagine in my version she's probably close to siffrin's age)

Which giving him a more top build than bottom build rlly encapsulates his arm strength compared to the other one where you prolly couldnt guess hes strong enough to grow roots under ground with his command ,, its sorta similiar to how allure has more of a bottom build and they have stronger legs/thighs than arms? Giuseppe is the same way like leshy anyways- giuseppe relies in his arms for strength thus top heavy, kall bottom heavy cuz shi has stronger legs than everyone (girl walks around w six everyday too ofc shi does lmao-), heket top heavy cuz of strong biceps and forearms, shamura bottom heavy cuz they use their legs more often and theyre pretty strong leg wise (they do have muscles though! Ive yet to draw that), and narinder is top heavy cuz he uses swords all day-

i want to start writing a bit about my ocs here, i feel like the tumblr community is a cool place for that

For this piece I was inspired by this post HERE Specifically this image:

I originally wanted to draw a bunch of Orym's in a run cycle with the rabbits over top of them, but I couldn't decide if they were all going to be in the same outfit, or show him progressing through the campaign. In the end I only liked the sketch of the OG Orym, and so he's in the middle with the rabbits running before him.

Here's the original sketch, colors taken from the photo:

I knew I wanted the rabbits to be layered over him, and something sparked in my mind, reminding me of Slavic style fairytale illustrations. Now, I don't know if this has an official style name, but if you look up 'Slavic fairytale illustration' you will find beautiful drawings, many in watercolor and ink, with a border of art around the center. In my mind I saw geometric vines, maybe telling parts of Orym's story within them, but for ease and my hands, I kept it simple with just the moons in the center.

Orym was... actually pretty easy to draw. It was the background that was difficult. Finding the right kind of lining style and how to do the watercolor effect was tricky and took some time. I was also inspired by this post HERE of the natural beauty of grasses

And because Orym is on the outside a very subdued character, I thought the grasses fit him. He is small and easy to miss, but easy to appreciate if ya take the time.

Still, drawing the grass and figuring out the style took a while. I did some tricks and studied a few refs for the fairytale page style and eventually got it down. Some of my favorite details are the green and white vines that wrap around a wooden frame in the boards, the Celtic braid that looks like saplings and the human-like eye for the rabbits. The eyes represent Orym's observant feat. He is always aware of his surroundings, on the watch for people to hurt him or hunt him like his father and husband. And, we know he has panic attacks from the pressure of the moon mission and of the danger around him, so I imagine his heart is always beating like a rabbit's. A prey animal.

To double down on this, the rabbit's eyes are same red as Ruidus in the background, and, the tree shape forms an eye, with Ruidus as its pupil.

I debated on adding more red for contrast of the green/gray piece. The moon was added, and I thought about adding injuries to the rabbits, ones that would mirror Orym's injuries in the campaign. Also thought about adding a red halo, similar to a saint's halo in renaissance art, for Orym or the rabbits. in the end I thought it was too much red, so I kept it to the moon and the eyes.

Honestly, I'm very proud of this piece. I've wanted to draw this for a while but only just got around to it. Orym is such a beloved character, and I love how bunny-coded he is. Small, subdued, scared. Fast, watchful, and hunted.

And yet, he rises up as much as he can to do good.
