I was listening to a podcast episode of one of those shows where a mix of rewatch & first watch folks discuss an anime (kawaii desupointment) and it was the Tokyo Mew Mew episode from before New came out and I can’t stop thinking about some of the ideas the person going in totally uninformed had imagined the show would be like.

Like she thought it was a cat rescue thing and oh my god why is Cafe Mew Mew not a cat cafe??? Hijinks with people getting excited to see that one stray tomcat who only comes round from time to time, with the striking eyes, and Ryou just wants to get back to work and finish those darn spreadsheets.

Also man it is a shame they didn’t just name Berry like, Nilla or something, it bothers me so much that this adorable show with too many gimmicks can’t keeps them together.

Okay, let’s plays pretend here. TMM gets the Saban Moon treatment but it’s more like SPOP or Kipo- stylish and made with care. The cafe is a cat cafe- really it’s an animal rescue which R&K had been using to observe any alien impacts on local wildlife, and it has a small cafe attached to it. But Keiichiro still enjoys and is good at patisserie so that combined with small makes them seem more appealing and they get popular over the course of the series. Lettuce might get a rename and I’m sorry about it but she’s the odd one out in terms of being neither a fruit nor a dessert. How about Shiso?

Bonus: if you’re like, what if woof and fish kissed, the ship name could be umeshiso

Also we get more of the aliens backstory. Like so much more.

Nilla is there, and so is Ringo. Should they all get cute new names? Yes. More names is more names.

Okay so I might let Berry be Berry against because if I am going to do all new names I wanna start with the main girls and Zakuro is first for elaborate reasons. I want the pomegranate reference to be clear and others have done Pam, so what about something based on grenada? Grenadine? Nadine is a real name, maybe Nadine Grey the Grey Wolf? I think that works, striking a balance between 90s localization & funky kids show of the now.

Nadine is an influencer and eventually is explicitly dating Menthe, who by the way her outfit looks like ballet warm ups now. It is periodically implied that she’s funneling money to the project.

Shiso is perfect never change babygirl. She could be Key Lime (maybe Merengue as name?) themed instead but I really don’t want to mess with her deal too much so I like that Shiso is still a leaf.

What’s an actual nice sounding Chinese term for pudding or egg tarts? Our consultants inform us of this and that’s what Purin is called now.

Ichigo can stay Ichigo for now, too, since idk that Fariza is an improvement. Their Mew Mew names are whatever their thing is stated plainly, to be clear.

Also they all have like, a brief window when they first are injected to either get a cure or let it stabilize and all opt in because that just feels nicer story wise.

The Creative Directors Behind Fate: The Winx Saga Must Not Be K-Pop Fans

Also, they have a pretty wrong idea of the role fashion should play in a show.

There are a few words that will stand out across most reviews of Netflix's Fate: The Winx Saga - drab, boring, flop, flat, unimaginative. Critics and audiences consensus is that the show is not only a mediocre-at-best story, but also an atrocious (and ultimately confusing) choice of adaptation of the color pop and fairy magic cartoon it’s based on, 2004 italian cartoon Winx Club.

Fate has plenty of it's own issues - white washing and erasing characters, cringey dialogue, outdated melodrama, etc. But where it truly, unequivocally fails is as an adaptation. Fate misses everything that was magical and lovable about the original series, in all levels, from bizarre writing choices, - such as never actually developing any sense of friendship between the characters, who are based on a cartoon about…..a group…….of friends -, but it's especially and immediately felt in the art direction and costume design.

Winx Club is set on a fantastical world, Magix, where each of our main characters hail from a different planet, à la Sailor Moon. Alfea, the fairy school they attend, is the most common background: a pastel colored, futuristic high tech-meets-fantasy, art nouveau inspired castle. Alfea sets the tone for the whole visual of the cartoon: bright, colorful, futuristic meets vintage, leaning into the technological positivism of the Y2K style, uniting it with magic, DnD worthy monsters and, of course, fairy wings. Often featured are also the Red Fountain school, where the Specialists train, and especially Cloud Tower, the goth and gothic inspired witch school Alfea has an OxBridge rivalry with (How cool would that be in a live action? I guess we’ll never know…).

On Fate, Alfea is the only school we ever see, and it’s another beige boarding school in not-Britain, somehow set in a magical world where everyone has the exact same technology and even social media that we have on Earth in 2021, no transformations and, most egregiously, no fairy wings.

This lack of visual creativity is pervasive throughout the whole show, and its most heartbreaking iteration is in the characters' wardrobe. The styling has the barest bones of a color scheme, - such as 'Bloom has to only dress in red since fire, duh',- the clothes are ill fitting, bland, dark and very dated. These are supposed to be teenagers who enjoy fashion, and yet they look like varying types of soccer moms from 2010.

The series seems to operate on an old and tired vision that women and girls can’t have depth and have adventures and fight monsters while also caring about fashion, a vision that the original show played a big, big role in challenging in the early 2000's. Fashion and costume design sets as much of the tone of a visual medium as the script does; through clothes we can gauge characters’ backgrounds, passions, and personality.

Winx Club has some of the best examples of this in the cartoon sphere - Bloom’s comfortable and bright style, Stella’s glitzy and bold, Musa’s edgy and cool, Aisha’s sporty and fun, Techna’s neon and tech gear inspired, Flora’s earthy and romantic, they all work as extensions of each character and serve a narrative purpose. And that’s not even mentioning how insulting it feels that in their quest to make Winx “edgier, darker” and fit for an older audience, the creators of Fate somehow decided that was in opposition to caring about style and fashion. Most “girly” shows, including the Winx Club are just as much adventure action shows as the ones geared towards boys, and it’s emphasis in fashion, friendship and color does not detract from that. The original run of the cartoon deals with war, violence, grief, abusive relationships and even genocide; leaning into those plotlines would not require Fate to erase any integral parts of what made Winx so beloved, and the fact that they did shows that the Netflix team completely missed the point of fashion in the original show, and really, the point of fashion and costume design in the world building of any show.

That, however, is not a mistake K-Pop makes very often; (This might seem like a bit of wild swerve in topic, but stay with me here). Unlike it's western counterpart, the Korean pop scene never lost the emphasis on music videos and how the visual medium can complete and potentialize music and performance; the K-Pop culture is very album and concept oriented in a way that has been all but lost in many other pop circuits, and the music video, styling and set design of a ‘comeback era’ is a key point of excitement among fans.

As such, music videos that follow storylines, connected universes, boundary pushing concepts and visual effects are the norm, rather than the exception, and a list could be made of works that are beautiful examples of what a live action Winx adaptation could look like. In fact, and very smoothly, here is a small list of exactly that!

3. Red Velvet - Psycho

If it was a darker and more somber look that Fate wanted, there was a way to make it actually appealing. While it still feels a liiitle too grown up and elegant for Winx, (maybe this author is biased, as a full proponent for the Y2K fun) Psycho makes a very compelling argument for a witchy, mysterious, fairy tale-esque show that could look scrumptious and definitely not boring, or even a gorgeous example of what the witches in Cloud Tower could look like. Black and white, dark green, pastel blue and pops of jewel tones make Psycho's color palette. To add interest to the understated colors, the styling is heavy on textures; We see plenty of stonework, intricate embroidery, tassels, lace on lace on lace, feathers, bows, opera gloves and lots of glitter. All of that is offset by bold, dark makeup, leather accents and eerie cinematography. Needle & Thread, Marchesa Notte and Self Portrait lend their hyper feminine and intricately detailed tulle gowns, juxtaposed with the creepiness of the lyrics and the dark backgrounds; their deep berry and green fairy tale looks are built with pieces from Zara to Nina Ricci to Dolce & Gabbana to Alexander McQueen.

Red Velvet’s more edgy styling for 2018's Bad Boy would also not feel out of place on the Trix.

2. IZ*ONE - Fiesta

IZ*ONE kicked off 2020 with sweet and fun Fiesta. The MV features rooms with mismatched décor that go from retro to space opera, rocky faux landscapes that feel other worldly, and visual effects that would look perfect on the back of a transformation sequence. Mirroring the set design, the girls wear various outfits by sustainable up and coming brand Chopova Lowena. Their signature skirts made with discarded and repurposed fabrics give a cool and interesting twist on a schoolgirl look that would look very sweet for a band of school fairies that occasionally go off to save the world. Also, wouldn't those bedazzled headphones look great on Musa's fairy outfit?

1. Aespa - Black Mamba and Next Level

Aespa is what fans call a monster rookie. With only three music videos under their belt, they still have some of the most visually interesting work in the industry right now. Their concept is very tied in with high tech, featuring even AI avatars of each member, packaged in a glitzy, fantastical and futuristic aesthetic, candy pop meets cyberpunk. I think I’ve exhausted ways to say that is exactly what a perfect Winx adaptation should feature.

Their debut smash hit, 2020’s Black Mamba is truly a perfect moodboard for live action Winx. Wearing a sequined and colorful mix and match of Dollskill, Gucci, Didu and Balenciaga to a backdrop that features some alien fairy forest realness, a pyschedelic fever dream, rooms straight out of a Y2K catalog or donning lime green and black techwear inside a metro fighting the "black mamba", Aespa look through and through the part of fashion loving fairies who save the world together, while looking fierce, stylish and, most importantly, interesting.

The styling and the sets jump seamlessly from more casual colorful fits with blouses, shirts and baggy pants to barren, darkly lit backgrounds and fringe-and-glitter heavy pieces necessary to fight giant snakes, in a way so fitting to transformation outfits for magical girls we could cry.

In their third MV, 2021's Next Level, the cyber in their concept is taken up a notch (get it. because Next Level-), set to a futuristic urbanscape intersped with a planet made of crystals and the ocasional alien fauna popping up again. We get treated to Monse, The 2nd Skin Co., Johanna Ortiz and The Attico styled to fairy princess standards, sporty sky racers and a white and sequined group styling that is top ten fairy busy saving the world uniform material, or maybe even a specialist worthy getup.

This particular look from Ningning is so Techna that it almost feels as if it's mocking Netflix.

And doesn’t this Karina trapped inside the "black mamba" in Alexander McQueen feel like a perfect Dark Bloom moment?

These are only a few examples of interesting and creative designs that are in line with what a live action Winx Club should have given us. There are so many more I could list, even among other TV Shows, like Sex Education and even polemic dark Euphoria, that know how to have fun with style and design without losing the depth of their stories. In the end, it's hard to justify why Fate creators even wanted to make an adaptation that didn't even try to capture the heart of its source material, and all we can do is watch one more "Restyling Fate: The Winx Saga" video on Youtube whilst mildly dreading season 2.

Finally got the Platinum and True Ending for Blue Reflection: Second Light, so I wanted to share some thoughts and tips on it(PS4 Version, with no DLC Maps purchased yet). 

Might be very long-winded, so I’ll put it under a Readmore. ^^;

It feels like a major step up in a lot of ways from the first game in several ways. 

It doesn’t have the janky feel some parts the first game had, for the most part, though a couple times there was some slowdown(usually if too many enemies are nearby, like in the last map of Rena’s Heartscape).

Improved battle system.

There are much more varied maps than the several regions of The Common(and they’re larger, too) that have a bit of exploration elements to them like Atelier Ryza 2 had(though I think that one did it better, overall).

Feels like a much longer game(I can’t really check how long one playthrough took me, though, since it’s not recorded), and less repetitive.

Double the amount of party member Reflectors, 6 compared to 3 in the first game(3 useable at one time, with 1 as a support member).

More expressions for the characters/models, though on occasion they look a bit off or goofy(the toothy grin one when someone is talking, for example; it makes more sense to see for yourself, probably). There’s also a subtle eye movement if you look closely.

And more I’m probably forgetting.

Unlike the first game, where Hinako, Yuzu and Lime start out fighting in their Reflector forms, here you need to get the party to build up their ‘Gear Level’ before transforming(which has a nice and short magical girl-style transformation sequence play out, too, which can be set to only play once per excursion, or never). As you battle, it’ll gradually go up, though early on, you probably won’t see it too often. Later on, if you get their Ether Recovery Level high enough, they may even start the battle transformed. 

Another effect of increasing your Gear Level and transforming is access to new and stronger versions of old attack skills, as you learn them(for the former).

One new battle feature is having a Support Character set in addition to the main three you select. There’ll be a ring that fills up as time passes in battle, and, depending on the Support Skill selected in the party menu, they will activate one of them after a certain number of times it gets filled. They can also be switched out with the main battle party and use items.

Another new battle feature is One-on-One fights, where either a party member or a boss enemy fights one-v-one. I’m not sure what makes bosses initiate it, but party members can start one by inflicting Knockdown on a boss. During these, they’ll get four commands:

Triangle: Support Skill

Circle: Dodge

Square: Counter(has a very narrow window to actually work, though)

X: Attack

In a One-on-One fight, the selected party member picks from the four commands to fight, trying to build up a combo, that seems to get added to whatever it was in the normal battle, and possibly beat the boss in this fight within a time limit. If the boss is reduced to 0 HP, the party member will use a unique finishing move on them, and if the party member goes down, it just goes back to the regular battle, but they’ll be KO’d. 

The character’s Heartscapes are a big step up from just having the different sections of The Common from the first game, being based on the specific character’s memories, and being more interesting to look at, as well as larger, most having three different map sections, though two have 2, and one having 4.

They’re easy to miss, at least some of them, but in each Heartscape, there’s a few spots where there’ll be a scene where the characters will stop and talk, and it’ll be recorded in the menu under ‘Locations’. These are needed for Trophies, and will become unavailable for the rest of the current playthrough if missed(they stop showing up in a specific Heartscape after the Chapter ends), so try to be thorough when going through them. One in Yuki’s needs to be found before completing a puzzle, since an Event Flag will block the way afterwards.

Also in the Heartscapes, Ao can cut the grass with her scythe by hitting Square. You can get items from doing this occasionally, and a Trophy for doing it 50 times.

Probably taking influence from Atelier, there’s a Crafting system, which you can make useful items that can be used in or out of battle, depending on what they are, and characters can learn Talents that add Traits while being selected to help Craft items, which can give them effects, such as healing more, doing more damage or causing Status Ailments. More items can be crafted as the game goes on, and also from collecting Memory items in the Heartscapes, some hidden behind sealed areas that you needed specific crafting items to get through.

In addition to Crafting, there's also School Development, which has the characters build various structures to place around the school building. The story has you required to build some to progress, but there’s quite a few that aren’t needed to advance the main story, and are part of Requests. There’s only so much room to place them, though you can increase the amount as the game goes on, but you never get enough room to place -all- of them, so you’ll have to pick and choose, or switch them out, and some have size requirement for where they can and can’t be placed. They also all have some sort of added effect to them, such as increased Defense or Ether Recovery Speed, and can be upgraded to increase or add on to their effects. Weirdly, there’s a spot by the pier to place something, but nothing you build can go there. Maybe something from the DLC can be built to be placed there?

One of the structures you can build, the Training Dummy, has another use that’s not really hinted at: beating the enemies that appear after using it once, which may be difficult at first, gives the party members the ability to use ‘Ether Tide’ skills. These attacks, which are useable once you build up a combo of 15 or more in battle, are powerful, required for Trophies, and cool to watch, though I think a couple could use a bit more ‘oomph’ to them.

There a stealth element to the game that comes into play in two ways: one is hitting Circle to have Ao enter ‘Search Mode’ and sneak around, which dulls the colors and lets you see the enemies’ field of view, and then you can sneak up behind and strike them to get an advantage in battle, and the other, which mostly shows up in Requests, is where all you can do is try and avoid enemies' view to get somewhere on a map. I’m not too big on the latter, at least the later ones, since the patrolling enemies can be finicky at times, but it’s a neat idea...and can be Save Scummed to make getting through them easier. XD

There are several types of Requests you can get:

Beat specific enemy(s)

Get/Craft specific items

Build a new structure they thought up.

Sneaking missions

Clearing Requests gives you Talent Points for that character, and also Ao, if their Talent Level increases(up to lvl. 10). It might be possible to max at least one person’s T. Lvl in one playthrough, but not all of them; you’ll need New Game Plus for that.

Talent Points are used for increasing Talent Levels(and each character’s Talent Skill, such as Yuki’s, which increases the Drop Rate), learning Skills, both for battle and Crafting, unlocking Fragment Slots, and increasing stats more. Maxing the level out for any character besides Ao will let you see a new event in their Heartscape(not always right away, though), and seeing -that- will let you see a slightly longer version of their ending if done on NG+. More Talent Skills will become available as the story progresses and their Talent Level is raised.

Another way to get Talent Points is going on Date events with the other characters. During these, Ao and whoever she’s with can walk around together, and have a set point to go to, usually something you’ve built, or another part of the school building/Oasis. Once you get to the date spot, they’ll talk, and you’ll get a few dialogue options to pick. Depending on your answers, you’ll get either more or less Talent Points afterwards, and one of two Fragments. Eventually, as you do more of these, and other events for the characters, Ao and the others will hold hands as they walk(its a bit finicky, though, but they’ll run back up to Ao and hold on again if they end up letting go/caught on something). As the game progresses, more characters join and more structures are built, there’ll be more Date events to see.

One last way to get Talent Points is from some events with several of the girls around the school that pop up as the game progresses where you have to pick one of the dialogue options favoring one of the characters involved to gain more points with them.

Like in the first game, the Fragments you get can buff your party members, and a few can also give them skills they can’t normally learn. The Fragments’ additions all have a Gear Level Requirement, though, only activating at that Gear Level or higher. You can only equip so many, and some take up more than one slot, with a maximum of 10.

There’s a couple Fragments for increasing EXP, but you probably won’t really need to use them, if you take the time to fight every enemy you run across, plus the max level is 50.

You’ll need to play through the game at least twice, as after the second run, there’ll be a slightly extended scene after the credits for whichever character ending you picked if their Talent Lvl. is 10 and you saw a new scene in their Heartscape(after the final boss, you get the chance to hang out with 1 character before the ending). Almost nothing else changes during the playthrough aside from that, though, just one scene before the final boss, and not much carries over into NG+, just anything saved to System Data, Fragments and half of each character’s acquired Talent Points, which make it easier to max their Talent Levels. It’s a nice addition to the ending, but I wish there was more than just those small bits added after having to go through the entire game again.

For my main party, once they all joined, I liked to have the three main protag Reflectors, Ao, Hinako and Hiori, and usually Rena or Shiho as the support. Strategy wise, Shiho is a better main party member than Hinako, since the latter can’t learn healing skills and has less skill type variety for hitting weaknesses, though those can be remedied with certain Fragments.

Like the first game, the music is pretty good, especially the two battles themes and the boss themes. I wish I could have heard it all easier, though; my PS4 still whirs loudly, and I had wanted to get the Switch version to avoid that problem. ^^; 

Even though she’s just an NPC in this game, I think it was a good idea to include Uta Komagawa in this, and further explore her past/character, which was given a bit of attention in Blue Reflection Ray, but much more detailed here. She’s more than what she appears to be, and really made me like and sympathize with her. Makes me wish she, along with Mio, who is also here but as an NPC, were playable. I’d like to see someone who knows what they’re talking about, i.e. not me, psychoanalyze her character; it’d probably be interesting to read.

Ao felt like a pretty good protag to me, and hope to see her again, maybe in another BR game , or another Warriors All Stars-type game, with the other main character Reflectors. It feels like there’s more to learn about her that isn’t fully explained in the game, too. Also, I like how it hints that her Reflector form may have been influenced by her ‘goth’/chuunibyou phase. XD

It does feel like there’s some character and story info that’s hinted at, but not fully explored(like the AASA, possibly more about Ao, stuff with Uta that is hinted to have happened after Blue Reflection Ray, Shiho, Kirara and the rest of their eight-man team and the unnamed organization they belonged to, etc.), and I’m guessing it’s related to events in the, hopefully still upcoming, Blue Reflection Sun, which seems to be a mobile/PC game. There unfortunately hasn’t been any new info about it that I‘ve seen in that since it’s announcement, though. 

While probably not completely required to play this game, I’d highly recommend playing through Blue Reflection 1 and watching all of Blue Reflection Ray before doing so. It’ll add more context to characters, events, etc., and I feel it gives more impact to scenes involving returning characters from each.

Like Ryza/Ryza 2, there’s a theme of ‘Summer’ or ‘Summer Vacation’ in this game(I don’t remember if BR1 had either theme to it, since Hinako was in school the whole time).

This was a very good and improved follow-up to the first game and anime. Aside from Sun, I’m not sure if the series will have another sequel since, without spoilers, it ends on a pretty definitive, if also ambiguous, note. But I hope there will be.

Why we should have known Alix’s importance as essentially the in-show keeper of the Love Square the second we first saw her, and how we can use her character design to predict what will happen for the Love Square

WARNING: spoilers for a couple season 3 episodes, including Desperada, Ikari Gozen, and Miracle Queen. Honestly, if you haven’t watched any of those episodes yet, I highly recommend them, they’re really good

Ok so, today, as I was drawing Alix and therefore thinking about her appearance, I realized that basically her entire physical character design has elements of the Love Square to it. I searched tumblr trying to find someone who posted about this but I couldn’t, so here we go bois. Sorry if I missed anyone’s post about this, I’m still kinda new to tumblr and I’m just trying to share my thoughts with the fandom!

There are gonna be three elements of her design I talk about: her hairstyle, her coloring, and the details on her clothing.

First off, I would like to start with her hairstyle.

Her hairstyle is iconic for its uniqueness— pretty wild, short, with a pigtail on one side and loose hair on the other. BUT GUYS. HER HAIR IS LITERALLY HALF LADYBUG’S, HALF CHAT NOIR’S.

Let me explain—

If you look at the images above, you can see precisely what I mean.

On the left side of Alix’s face (when we, the audience, look at her, not her own left), we can see Alix’s bangs are parted exactly the way Marinette/LB’s bangs are, plus she has Mari’s pigtail. On the right half, we can see the middle piece of Chat Noir’s bangs that is pointed toward/in his face, plus the rest of his hair that alternatively points outward (sorry if that wording was confusing, there’s a reason i’m not a writer, it’s easier to see in the photos). ALIX’S HAIRSTYLE ALONE IS QUITE LITERALLY HALF LADYBUG AND HALF CHAT NOIR. I AM NOT OK.

Alright. Ok. As if that alone hasn’t made me lose my mind, there’s more. Before we get into her outfit, I want to just quickly address Alix’s coloring itself.

Alix has pink hair and blue eyes, and her clothes are black, green, pink, and red.

The pink hair and blue eyes can easily be attributed to Marinette/Ladybug, since Marinette’s clothes and room are majorly pink, her transformation sequence and powers all have pink backgrounds, and pink is a variation of red, which is Ladybug’s main color. Marinette also has blue eyes (and blue hair, but I don’t know if it’s blue in-universe or black).

On the other hand, the black and green on Alix’s shirt can be attributed, of course, to Chat Noir, who’s entire color scheme is black with accents of lime green. Adrien also shows hints of these colors in his design, but that’s a completely different subject.

For the rest of her look, Alix’s shorts are almost all black, except for the red decal on the back pockets, and her socks and shoes are a mix of Mari/LB’s and Adrien/CN’s colors.

To sum it up, from head to toes we have Mari on Alix’s head, Adrien on her upper torso, and a mix of the two from the lower torso down. It is worth noting that the reasons Mari’s colors are Alix’s head and Adrien’s colors are on Alix’s shirt is that, throughout the series, it is established that Mari is associated with using her head, and Adrien is associated with preferring his heart. (This has been explocitly referenced in episodes like Lady Wifi (s1) and Ladybug (s3).) Therefore, Mari’s coloring being on Alix’s head—which is what Mari is associated with—and Adrien’s coloring on her shirt being closest to her heart—which he is associated with—makes total sense.

Ok ok ok. This is the last point I have to make, but also kinda the most complicated to explain, so bear with me here.

In the photo on the left, if you look by her wrist, you can see a snake head, and you can see the shape of the snake body trailing around her arms. The scale print even further adds to this.

So a snake. The immediate thing that comes to mind is the snake miraculous. If you’ll remember the episode Desperada (s3), the snake miraculous was originally given to Adrien, who transformed into Aspik, but then Adrien learned that he was unsuccessful as Aspik because he couldnt be Chat Noir at the same time, and his role as Chat Noir was essential to the success of the team, so Luka became the next (and way more successful) holder of the snake miraculous, Viperion. The other relevance of the snake miraculous was in Miracle Queen (s3 finale), when Chat Noir merged the black cat miraculous and snake miraculous (Snake Noir). The colors of the snake are also the same colors of Chat Noir, but black is Chat Noir’s more primary color while green is the snake’s more primary color.

(side note: When Luka holds the miraculous, the tones of the green color shift from a lime green to a more blue-green, which shows his individuality/difference from Adrien being expressed in the miraculous, similarly to how Ryuko’s coloring is more of an orange-toned red than Marinette’s as Ladybug/Dragonbug. This isn’t quite important to this analysis, I just thought it was interesting, whoops!)

For the photo on the right, I know the photo isn’t very clear, but I just couldn’t quite find a clear photo of the red snake decal on the back pockets of Alix’s shorts. For context, in the Chinese zodiac (where the second level of the miraculous originate), dragons don’t have wings (the wings thing came from western culture), and so they look similarly to the shape of a snake because they are long, thin, flexible, and have scales. Therefore, it’s reasonable to assume that this snake-like outline in red on the pockets of Alix’s shorts could also be meant to resemble a dragon. This makes a ton of sense when we consider how the snake and the dragon are pictured together in the show, and the colors typically associated with either.

The dragon’s relevance is presented in a similar manner to the snake’s, only Marinette doesn’t try to use the dragon (excluding Kwami Buster) until Miracle Queen, when she becomes Dragonbug (and Chat Noir becomes Snake Noir). Kagami, however, is meant to be Marinette’s “rival” for being Adrien’s love interest, and Kagami is the one who ends up getting the dragon miraculous and transforming into Ryuko for the first time in Ikari Gozen (s3).

Luka is meant to be a altered reflection of Adrien, and Kagami is meant to be an altered reflection of Marinette. This is why the miraculouses that Luka and Kagami are given are also the same ones Marinette and Adrien unify in Miracle Queen, and why the color schemes are the way they are. Their roles in terms of the writing of the show are only meant to be a psyche-out Adrinette for both Mari and Adrien. The balance is almost there, but not quite. This can be seen in their own character designs, but again, that’s a whole other thing. Their roles in the show, though, are essential to bring Adrinette together. In Miracle Queen, Luka and Marinette are established as an item, and Kagami and Adrien are established as an item. In the same episode, Dragonbug and Snake Noir themselves even foreshadows the separation of Luka & Adrien and Marinette & Kagami being unified into just Adrien and just Marinette themselves. A better way of saying that is that the qualities Mari likes about Luka will become things either Adrien grows into or that she’ll find in him, and the same thing with Kagami and Marinette for Adrien, which will lead to them becoming a couple. This is why they’re included in Alix’s design, if we can agree that Alix’s design is meant to represent their journey into becoming a couple.

Man, am I tired from finding the words to explain that. Hopefully it makes sense!!

So, to summarize everything, not only do Alix’s hair and general coloring have direct traces of LB and CN, but also the snake and the dragon, who can be represented by both Adrien & Luka (snake) and Marinette & Kagami (dragon), and can be used to determine that Luka and Kagami’s roles in the show hold the key to the Love Square becoming canon.

So. Yes. Alix’s design, once I realized all this, has been driving me crazy. I MEAN SERIOUSLY. She is a literal human representation of the Love Square.

More of the magical girl/guy stuff. (this was half written in one of my docs. I’ve finally finished this, so hopefully you’ll enjoy it) By Season 5, everyone’s outfits are no longer messed up, however they have changed from their season 1/true potential outfits; Jay still has some show host elements, Cole has short/no sleeves from his lumberjack look and Kai’s gloves now have some metal worked into them(the patches are still a bit dark, but it’s brighter than right after his near-corruption, and getting lighter each day), among other things. (Jay and Cole still have the stitches by the way, they aren’t as visible, but are still there.) Everyone has calmed down after season 4, everything seems to be okay. Then Lloyd comes home from the museum. Lloyd(?) transforms in front of them, but it isn’t his familiar outfit. It’s an off shade of green, battered and torn, parts floating in an invisible wind. He’s wearing pieces of blackened armor, twisted and weathered, and filled with cracks that glow a toxic lime green. (Yes, there’s more Morro and Kai parallels, why’d ya ask?) Nya’s outfit starts out rigid, parts that restrict her movements, with sharp, angular designs printed over everything. The worst part is that she has ballet shoes, but unlike Cole, her outfit forces her to go en pointe, making every step in her current outfit painful. It’s like the outfit was made just for one particular pose and nothing else.

When she finally gains her true potential the fabric loosens and flows, every sharp pattern curves into waves of water. She moves to the music of the transformation, every movement impossible in her pre-potential form; breaking the piece that was holding her back, turning it into water. She finishes the sequence by pulling off a pirouette, spinning once, twice, three times before the accursed shoes shatter like glass.

The new outfit is practical, with elements of the Samurai she once was, and the Ninja she is now. The shoes are a pair of strong boots designed to protect her feet, and she has a headpiece, subtler than her Samurai X outfit, but clearly referencing it. Cole’s magical outfit as a ghost is tattered towards the edges, but it feels more purposeful and gives him an ethereal air as small scraps of fabric float around him. At first, it almost looks like the outfit’s dissolving into the air, but as Cole accepts his new nature, they come closer together, more whole.

Now, I haven’t watched the majority of season 6, but there is one outfit that I have a definite idea on.

Cole went into the captain’s quarters, bottle of venom in hand, when he heard a thump.

His eyes rushed to the wall, before freezing.

Nadakhan was more vile then he ever thought.

Jay lay there, in an outfit that made it clear what the captain thought of him.

His chest was bare, with only a vest to cover his back. His shorts barely reached his knees. He had heavy golden bracelets covering his forearms and an anklet to match the ball and chain attached to his other leg. But the thing that disgusted Cole the most, was the thing around his face.

It wrapped around Jay’s neck and the bottom half of his face. This mechanical monstrosity ensured while his neck could move, his jaw was locked into place, rendering the motormouth completely mute.

He did what anyone would do in that situation, and carried Jay out of there.

“Okay, Jay, let’s get that thing off of you.”

Jay shook his head, well, as much as he could with the thing trapping his tongue and jaw would allow.

“Huh? Oh, does it do something of you try to take it off? That’s ok, we can get Nya to take a look!”

Another shake.

“No? Is something wrong?”

Jay pointed to himself, then his face.

“I mean, I know about that creepy gag, but-”

Jay grabbed his hand, and after a brief second to make sure Cole was paying attention, Jay began to write on Cole’s hand with his finger.

The angel stands in front of the flatscreen, flicking it off and back on again, doublechecking to make sure it stays tuned to NBC. He ticks the volume up several notches, then back down. Finally, he tosses the remote onto the sofa just to get it out of his hands. Slipping his phone from the pocket of his white jumpsuit, he checks the time -- 20:22 -- and places it in front of him on the coffee table before collapsing with an impatient huff on the end of the sofa opposite the remote.

He’s up again almost immediately, pacing restlessly over to the room service trolley to pour a glass of champagne. He shouldn’t (he really shouldn’t, tonight of all nights), but there’s no reason to think anything will go wrong, is there? Jeffrey’s there, and Ben Winston, and there’s not much the angel could handle that they can’t. Still, he’s been on edge ever since the Cancun incident. So many Harrys converging, each one unmoored from his respective universe. He’s got to make sure nothing like that happens again.

A decisive knock at the door of the hotel suite startles him into sloshing champagne down his fingers. Swearing under his breath, he slides the glass onto the table next to his phone and tiptoes toward the door. The thick carpet muffles his footsteps as he approaches the peephole suspiciously. Nobody knows he’s here, and room service has come and gone already.

On the other side of the fisheye lens, his own face looms large above a plunging neckline framed by purple sequins. The angel backs up. He combs his fingers through his hair and tugs his jabot straight before he flips back the security latch and pulls open the door. “What are you doing here?”

The demon sidesteps past him into the suite, sequins scraping against the angel’s knuckles in the narrow entryway. He’s got a black bottle by the neck in one hand. “Heard it was SNL tonight.” The demon saunters through the suite’s sitting room, looking up at the high ceilings and trailing his fingers along the back of the sofa. At the window, he twitches back the edge of the thick damask curtain. “Thought we could have a little party,” he says to the glass, peering out over Manhattan.

The angel’s shoulderblades tingle, right where his wings would erupt if he wasn’t trying to be unobtrusive in the city. The demon suddenly pivots back toward him. “Catch!” The bottle in his hand sails over the sofa and across the suite.

“Fucker.” The angel lunges for the bottle and snags it with one hand just before it hits the floor. He straightens up, looking at the label. Casamigos.

The demon leans a hand against the frame of the double doors into the suite’s bedroom and pokes his head inside. The angel hadn’t expected to sleep here tonight -- there's too much to do, a whole afterparty to keep an eye on, the possibility that Harry could make all kinds of terrible Xander-related decisions. But suddenly’s he’s conscious of the pristine expanse of the king-sized bed, all the corners crisply tucked under like a wrapped present. He flushes and turns away to browse through the glassware on the bar, wondering what the demon expects to pour tequila into.

He looks back over his shoulder when the silverware rattles on the trolley behind him. “What the fuck is this?” The demon’s got the room service cloche tilted upward. He jabs a finger at the contents of the plate underneath.

“It’s a Beyond Burger,” the angel says defensively. “It’s vegan.”

“No shit.” The cloche clangs back down. In two strides, the demon’s at the desk, dialing the phone. “Room service, please.” He clacks his fingertips against the desktop, pink and blue and pink and blue tapping down in a staccato sequence while he waits on the line. “A cheeseburger, medium rare… no, not the Beyond Burger… no, yes, you had the last order right.” The demon rolls his eyes. “It’s only that I’ve changed my mind about being a vegan… yes, just in the last ten minutes. I’ve seen the light.” He flips a cheery middle finger at the angel. “And send up some limes too, please.”

The angel glances back at the television. “Shit, time.” Text is scrolling across the Capitol Building. He hurries to the sofa and retrieves the remote.

“Just the cold open,” the demon says lazily, hanging up the phone. “He won’t be in it.”

“How do you know?” The angel jabs the volume button with indignant emphasis. “Justin Timberlake did the cold open. Remember, the Hugo Chavez song?”

“Believe me, I’ve got some friends at SNL.” The demon vaults over the back of the sofa and into the seat next to the angel. Water drips from his hair.

“Why are you wet?” the angel asks suspiciously.

The demon inspects the damp sequins on the sleeve of his jumpsuit. “I dunno,” he says with surprise. “It just happens sometimes. Do you mind it?”

“You’re soaking through the cushion,” the angel points out.

“Sorry.” The demon inelegantly sweeps his arm down his chest and out to the side. The water evaporates from his jumpsuit. His freshly dried hair looks perfect. The angel tries not to be jealous.

The cold open stretches on interminably. Harry doesn’t follow American politics in any universe, so the angel doesn’t get any of the jokes. He jiggles his leg impatiently as the sketch finishes and the opening credits start to roll. They’re unforgivably long.

“I think you could use some more champagne.” The demon swipes the glass off the table and knocks it against the back of the angel’s clenched fingers.

“I shouldn’t.” The angel tries to wave it away. God, how many more cast members are in the alphabet?

The demon fixes him with one of those stares that the angel ought to be immune to, since he’s a master at them himself. “Drink up.”

The angel takes a gulp of champagne. “Host and musical guest!” announces the television.

“Oh, there he is!” The angel gingerly claps around the stem of his champagne glass as HARRY STYLES appears on the screen in capital letters, followed shortly by Harry himself.

The demon raises an eyebrow at Harry’s white jacket. “The suiting’s a bit boring. Should have gone with a jumpsuit.”

The angel nods in agreement as Harry preens in front of the cheering audience onscreen. “Jumpsuit’s always the best move.”

“Or at least one of those Harris Reed outf…”

“Shhhh.” The angel cuts him off with a hiss, flapping his hand at the demon as the cheers die down. “He’s starting.”

He’s so intent on the monologue that he doesn’t realize the demon’s on his feet again until he thunks the champagne bottle against the angel’s glass. “Hold still,” the demon instructs, tipping up the bottle as Harry utters the words “One Direction” for the first time since 2015.

“Shhhh!” the angel hisses again. The demon’s about to interrupt a Zayn joke. But he obediently holds up his glass to be topped off. The demon steps languorously over him to reclaim his seat on the sofa, taking his time as he blocks the angel’s view. The angel bobs back and forth to see the screen on either side of the demon’s hips.

The purple sequined nightmare thankfully keeps his mouth shut for Harry’s first sketch. Everything’s going well so far. Harry’s doing great as Rob the intern. The angel finishes his glass of champagne.

“Nice work.” The demon thumps him on the knee and stands up as the sketch ends. “Time for tequila now.”

Harry doesn’t seem to be in the next sketch, so the angel watches as the demon collects two heavy-bottomed glasses from the bar and tucks the Casamigos bottle under one arm. He snags the salt shaker from the trolley in his other hand, and lines everything up on the coffee table in front of the angel. The demon looks around the room with a disappointed expression. “No limes yet.”

Right on cue, there’s a knock at the door. The demon’s face brightens. On screen, a dog morphs into Harry. The angel suddenly realizes that the bellhop is about to be very confused. “Shit!” He looks frantically back and forth between the screen and the demon. “There’s... three of us. You have to hide.”

“Please,” the demon scoffs. “I’ve got this.” He flashes a finger gun at the angel.

The angel looks down at the gesture, and when he looks back up, the demon’s transformed into Rob the intern. “That doesn’t solve anything! You’re still another Harry!”

“Believe me,” the demon says. “No one will notice a thing.” His smug drawl is out of place coming from Rob’s eager, freshly scrubbed face.

The angel stands up and moves toward the television, keeping his back to the door and trying to block the bellhop’s view of Harry on screen. “God… and his friends!” exclaims Harry. The angel narrows his eyes suspiciously. How does Harry know about God’s friends?

Behind him, Rob the intern's voice effusively thanks the bellhop. At the sound of the door closing, the angel relaxes and sinks onto the sofa. The demon joins him, back in his jumpsuited form. He slides his cheeseburger and a dish of limes onto the coffee table.

“Listen to that accent!” the angel exclaims as Magnus introduces himself. Harry’s really far more versatile than the angel gave him credit for. This is very impressive.

“Shame he’s not the pregnant one,” the demon comments. He uncorks the tequila and adds a generous pour to each glass. “You’re not, are you?”

“Not what?” The angel looks at him quizzically.

“Pregnant.” The demon’s eyes smoulder as as he licks his wrist with a slow, wide swipe of his tongue.

“No…” The question is baffling but also somehow embarrassing. “Is that… possible?”

“You never know.” The demon sprinkles salt on his damp wrist. “But if you’re not pregnant, there won’t be any problem with this, will there?” He punctuates the question by sliding a tumbler of tequila down the tabletop toward the angel. As the angel catches it before it topples over the edge, the demon holds his own tumbler up expectantly.

The angel touches his glass to the demon’s. “To Harry.”

“And Harry, and Harry, and Harry,” the demon adds with relish, taking a gulp of tequila.

The angel sips more modestly, closing his eyes at the burn. When he opens them, the demon’s arm is extended toward him, hand bent back to expose his wrist. Salt crystals glimmer on his skin.

With heat trickling up his spine, the angel bends in and touches his tongue briefly to the demon’s pulse. His mouth waters.

“Good.” The demon plucks a lime wedge from the dish and tosses it to the angel before licking the remainder of the salt off his wrist with a broad-tongued flourish.

The angel suddenly remembers Harry. Face burning, he snaps his attention back toward the television.

“There’s that jumpsuit,” the demon says with satisfaction as the first musical number starts. He swings his legs into the angel’s lap and settles back against the throw pillows at the end of the sofa. “Color’s a little bland, though. I did like that silver one.”

The angel touches the demon’s sequined knee and glances sideways at him. “I like the purple better.”

“Thank you,” the demon says with great satisfaction. He wriggles further down the sofa, so that the angel’s hand slides from his knee up to his thigh. The demon’s body always seems to be a couple of degrees warmer than any other being the angel knows of. Hopefully the performance of Lights Up will be on YouTube later. It’s a little hard to focus right now.

But when Harry appears in a pilot’s uniform, he forgets all about the weight of the demon’s legs in his lap. Harry’s hair... “Is he gray?” the angel asks with surprise.

“Distinguished, isn’t he?” The demon’s fingers toy with the angel’s ruffled cuff, brushing over his wrist.

The angel leans toward the screen. Pinned under the demon’s legs, he can’t spring up to inspect as closely as he wants to. “Is it a different one?”

“Naaaah, it’s all makeup.” The demon flattens a hand on his chest and presses the angel back toward the sofa. “Relax.”

“Are you sure?” Harry’s been awfully busy tonight. Suspiciously busy. The angel squints at the screen. Is it all the same Harry?

“Of course I’m sure.” The demon’s sedative voice is convincing. He traces the line of the angel’s collar. “He’s going to age well, isn’t he?”

The angel sighs and relaxes back against the cushion. “Oh, they all are.”

He lets the demon tug the bow of his jabot loose and marvels at Harry’s bizarre accent and terrible jokes. Until the next sketch. The angel tenses forward as soon as Thug 1 appears on screen.

“That’s not the same one,” the angel says decisively, shaking off the demon’s hand. “That one’s got crazy eyes.”

“It’s fiiiiiine,” the demon whines, crawling closer on the sofa. “He’s an actor. He’s impressive. They almost made him the Little Mermaid, of course he can pull off those braids.”

"He was supposed to be Prince Eric," the angel corrects.

The demon snorts. "Shows what you know."

"Never mind, listen to that accent,” the angel says worriedly. “That can’t be the same one who played Magnus.” He bends to grab his laptop from the far end of the coffee table, shouldering the demon aside. “Maybe there are credits…”

“Of course there aren’t credits,” the demon huffs as his feet thump back onto the floor. “It’s just going to say Harry Styles. What are you expecting, a nice scrolling list that says, ‘Harry Styles from KL154X7, and Harry Styles from WK373Y2, and Harry Styles from Eroda’?”

“Oh shit, is it the one from Eroda? This is a disaster.” The angel types “SNL” into the search bar. Instagram, goddammit. Does no one have a web site anymore? He backs up, clicking frantically against the slow hotel WiFi. All roads lead to the SNL Instagram.

“I’m joking.” The demon gently but insistently tugs the laptop out of his hands and sets it back on the table. “See?” He pokes a thumb under the angel’s chin and prods his face back toward the television.

The angel exhales. It’s Rob the intern again. No, wait, now he’s named Dylan? At least his accent is somewhat subdued.

The demon curls up next to him with an arm around his shoulders. “Same old Harry.”

“Oh…” The angel breathes a sigh of relief. “Yes, that’s definitely him. All he had to do was say ‘getting railed to death’.”

“Right! How many times have you heard him say that?” Somehow the demon’s in his lap now, straddling the angel’s thighs. He’s found the zipper to the white jumpsuit.

“So many,” the angel sighs. The demon’s hands are as warm as the rest of him. “Sounds better in your accent.” Unlike Harry’s speech lately, the demon’s hasn’t been polluted by California.

“What does?” the demon murmurs. He leans in. “Getting… railed… to… death?” He enunciates each word slowly, letting his lips brush the angel’s ear.

“Yeah…,” the angel breathes, “that....” He pushes apart the deep neckline of the sequin jumpsuit, trying to work both halves off the demon’s shoulders. The demon grinds down into his lap slowly and purposefully.

This is probably forbidden, somehow. Or maybe God and his friends haven’t even considered the possibility.

Over the demon’s shoulder, the screen on the laptop loads into focus. Harry appears. Three of him. Ten of him. Twenty of him? A row of Harrys in black leotards vogues in sequence. A Harry in a silk shirt smiles winningly. Harry after Harry after Harry fans himself. There’s so many of them. “Oh....” The angel bats at the demon’s shoulder. “Oh, there’s definitely more than one.”

“Is there?” The demon’s voice rises with incredulity. “Is there?” He looks over his shoulder, fingertips still resting on the exposed skin just beneath the angel’s butterfly tattoo. “Oh shit, there is.”

“Look, that one’s backwards!” The angel laughs in disbelief. He reaches around the demon for his glass of tequila and takes a bracing, burning swig. Somehow, a gathering of dancing Harrys in sweater vests seems funny. Not like a dangerous breach of the space-time continuum.

The demon lets his forehead drop to the angel’s shoulder, cackling helplessly. It only sounds a little bit demonic.

The angel tosses aside the empty glass and pokes him. “No, no, you have to see this one. Look at him go!” One of the Harrys tosses his hair and stares seductively at them over a bared shoulder.

The demon turns his head just enough to see the laptop, forehead still against the angel’s cheek. “That one’s gunning for my job.”

“One of you is plenty.” The angel traces his fingers over the familiar numbers inked onto the outside of the demon’s arm. The tattoos look different on him, as if his hellfire body heat has baked them into his skin.

“That’s right.” The demon tugs at a lace cuff until the angel lets his arm slide out of his sleeve. He pulls the angel’s blouse over his head and drags both hands down the angel’s chest.

The angel glances futilely at the laptop. “Should I do something about this?”

“Nah.” The demon continues to deconstruct the angel’s jumpsuit with efficiency and enthusiasm. “They can’t cause any more trouble together than they can on their own, can they?”

“I suppose they can’t.” The angel tips his head away from the screen, letting the demon mouth at his throat. The Harrys loop again and again on the laptop behind the demon, vogueing and kicking and preening, ready to wreak havoc on an unsuspecting world.

• Fiona- Pieces (fushia blood), heiress, Knight of Life, Prospit. Shrek's matesprite. During the day, she transforms into her god teir form. (Her dream self died on the quest bed thing, like what happened with Aradia, exceot Prospit wasnt destroyed. It is unknown how her dream self died.) She uses throwing knives. Land of Rays and Fear.

• Shrek- Cancer (mutated lime blood, bottom of hemocaste), Lord of Heart, Derse. Fiona's matesprite. Shrek uses a mace. Land of Bog and Self.

• Donkey- Shrek's lusus. Eventually becomes Donkeysprite. He has the ability of speech, and others besides shrek can understand him. Dragon/Dragonsprite's matesprite (can lususi have matesprites?????? Unsure but i dont care. This is a shrek au, why are you expecting logic)

• Charming- Scorpio (Blue Blood), Derse, Prince of Time. Shrek's kismesis. Charming uses a wand given to him by fairy godmother as his weapon. Land of Oil and Waves.

• Dragon- Fiona's lusus. Eventually becomes Dragonsprite.

• Arthur- Fiona's morail, trans, Jade blood, Sylph of Hope, Prospit. Lusus died when he was little. He uses a rapier. Land of Mist and Lakes.

• Fairy Godmother- Was Charming's friend, but then died. Later becomes Fairy Godsprite

• Merlin- Sorta a parental figure to Arthur, took him in after his lusus died. Becomes Merlinsprite

Shrek is a mutated limeblood, and as a result, is meant to be culled on sight. To prevent the grub from being culled, his lusus, Donkey, took him to a swamp, where the imperial drones would not look. Donkey is not a normal lusus, and while he does his best to care for Shrek, he is very immature. So, most of the time Shrek was forced to hunt for food, and fight against swampbeasts to survive.

Just after Shrek turns 5 sweeps old, he is awoken to the sounds of voices outside. He ignores Donkey, and looks outside. At least 100 highbloods had set up camps in the swamp.

The antisocial troll storms out of his home, and yells, "WHAT ARE YOU DOING AT MY HIVE?"

An teal blooded grub approached the troll, and explained that a rust blood, who goes by the name of Lord Farquaad, had killed the Condense and taken the throne.

He had exiled all the highblooded trolls, and sent them to the swamp. Shrek would like for everyone to screw off, and so he and his lusus begin travelling towards the Conden- Lord Farquaad's palace.

When he arrives, the outside is barren. He goes into the castle however, and finds Lord Farquaad sitting on a throne, a line of several low bloods standing before him. Shrek sees an array of colorful blood splattered upon the walls.

"The one who brings back the hieress shall be compensated greatly," Farquaad tells the trolls.

Heiress? Why does he need her?

Shrek dismisses the thought as quickly as it came. He marches forward. "Excuse me? Are you Farquaad?"

Farquaad tilts his head in confusion. "I am. And you are?"

Shrek pauses for a moment. With the hemocaste in disarray, and a lowblood in power, he doesn't have to worry about people finding out his name. He enjoys this moment of relief, before reminding himself he is here to get his life back.

He shrugs. "I'm Shrek. And you have sent all the highbloods to live right outside my hive, and I want my swamp back!"

Farquaad was silent for a few seconds, then spoke, "Shrek, was it? I have a deal for you. If you retrieve the heiress and bring her to me, I will relocate the highbloods."

"And I can go back to the way it was before?" Shrek questioned, considering the offer.

"Down to the last slime-covered toadstool." The rustblood replied.

"Fine. I'll go find the heiress and bring her here."

*cue traveling montage of Shrek and Donkey until they reach the castle*

Shrek dons a nearby suit of armor, not knowing what to expect from the heiress.

Donkey and Shrek get separated, and Donkey encounters Fiona's lusus, Dragon. Dragon is infatuated with Donkey, and Shrek climbs to the highest room of the tallest tower.

There, he meets Fiona, the heiress to the throne.

Meanwhile, Farquaad is busy plotting. He plans to ask the heiress to be his matesprite, and announce it publicly to consolidate his power. Soon after, he would kill her, and pin it on another rustblood, leaving him as the emperor of Alternia.

Shrek and Fiona get down to the first floor of the castle. When they hear Dragon, Shrek ushers Fiona out of the castle, and he then goes to best the monstrous lusus.

(this part happens pretty much exactly how it goes down in the movie)

Shrek, Fiona, and Donkey begin their journey to Lord Farquaad's castle. Shrek and Fiona slowly become friends, and Shrek thinks he may be flushed for her.

When they are attacked by a few anarchist lowbloods, Fiona finds out Shrek's blood color. However, it does not bother her like Shrek had feared.

During the days, Donkey and Shrek set up camp while Fiona makes her own, not wanting to be near the others during the day.

On the last day of their journey, Shrek decides he is going to confess to Fiona. Meanwhile, Donkey hears some strange noises coming from Fiona's camp. He bursts in and sees her in her god tier form. He is initially confused, but she explains, saying she believes it to be some sort of mutation. She says that she believes it will be cured when she finds her matesprite. (She believes in magic) Shrek shows up and is outside Fiona's camp, and overhears her say, "But who could ever be flushed with such a disgusting mutant?"

Heartbroken and betrayed, Shrek goes to Farquaad's castle, and feturns at nightfall with Farquaad and his guard.

(The whole scene here goes down pretty similar to how it does in the movie)

Shrek storms off without Donkey, stating that Donkey never did much for him anyways.

Shrek returns to his hive, where all the highbloods have been removed.

(Cue the whole hallelujah sequence, except w/o wedding stuff)

Dragon breaks free, and finds Donkey. Shrek and Donkey reconcile, and then go to Lord Farquaad's castle.

Shrek bursts in and professes his flushed feelings for Fiona. Fiona is quiet for a few moments, and goes over to him. Farquaad is shocked, "Don't tell me you actually have feelings for that mutant!"

As he orders his guards to take Shrek away, the sun rises, and Fiona transforms into her god teir form.

Farquaad orders his soldiers to kill the mutants when Dragon shows up and eats Farquaad.

Everyone celebrates the fact that they just staged a coup. Fiona takes her place as Empress, and abolishes the whole hemocaste system, and stops all the culling.

Things begin to improve, and Shrek and Fiona are now matesprites. And they all lived happily ever after.

Until one sweep later.

With equality between the trolls, everything has seemed much better on Alternia. Most of the time, Fiona does not have to do much as Empress, and instead spends her time helping others. One day, her childhood friends (who she only talked to online) Arthur and Charming ask her if she and Shrek want to play a game that Charming found called Sgrub. Fiona and Shrek agree. None of the teens are aware of what this desicion shall bring.

Shrek enters the game first, with Fiona as his coplayer. Donkey is killed by a nearby meteor, but Shrek is able to revive him by prototyping him with his kernelsprite. He enters the Land of Twilight and Mask. His quest is to awaken the mask.

Fiona enters the game after him, Charming as her coplayer. Dragon died about half a sweep before, and Fiona prototyped the skull of the lusus. Fiona entered the Land of Rays and Fear. Here, Fiona is unable to contact anyone, and Charming can only see her, but is unable to message her at all. Her quest is to revive the dawn.

Charming enters the game next, with Arthur as his coplayer. He prototyped the ashes of his friend from when he was younger, and she becomes Fairy Godsprite. He enters the Land of Oil and Waves. His quest is to learn the waves.

Arthur is the last to enter the game, with Shrek as his coplayer. As a grub, Arthur's lusus died, and he was taken in by an older troll named Merlin. Right before Arthur entered the game, Merlin prototyped himself. Arthur enters the Land of Mist and Lakes. His quest is to release the tides.

When Fiona enters the game, she is fully god teir. The first to ascend to god teir after her was Shrek. He was injured by a Dersian named Puss. Shrek made it to his quest bed, where he collapsed and died, and then ascended to god teir.

Charming and Arthur both finished their quests early on in the session. Charming ascended to god teir before Arthur, by doing the deed himself. He then traveled to the Land of Mist and Lakes and "helped" Arthur ascend to god teir.

It took Shrek and Fiona much longer to complete their quests. Fiona completes hers last, restoring life to the planet, and clearing the sky in order to revive the dawn.

They all travel to Skaia, where they battle the Black King.

They defeat him, and claim the ultimate prize.

(Also I'm aware that there isn't a space player, but I didn't think it really worked with any of the characters so I'm just going to say that the game provided them with a frog.)

Okay now it is done. I'm so fucking sorry for making this yall.

Jurassic Emblem-Chapter 9

You thought JE was merely fantasy? Well, my friend, your mind is about to be mind-blown! >:3

 Teba and Warbler were in the deep sea. Specifically, 35 meters below the isle of Nifl, surrounded by what what appeared to be a frenzy of shear-toothed chameleon-sharks and flame-spewing dolphin-lizards.

How did Teba and Warbler end up in this crazy shit? Well you sea, the two mercenaries had escaped confinement by feigning their death. It wasn’t very easy, given how excellent the olfactory senses of raptors are, and many predators can easily distinguish between a sleeping living creature and a creature whose brains and hearts have stopped. By coating himself and Warbler with their own feces, they had disguised themselves as luxurious buffets for flies, and Echo and Charlie wasted no time to toss the mercs into a man-hole.

Unknowingly to the raptors, the dilo and the salamander were still alive, albeit smelly. They were wandering through the sewers underneath Askr when the floor began to quiver upwards. Teba knew too damn well that shoggoth Andromeda had some news to report to them. They were, under the newly assigned orders by Sha’Rad Yuwi, to find Lucina and the raptors and have them dead with twelve days. Even Warbler for all her toxic personality felt a shiver down her spine;if there was one thing Sha’Rad Yuwi was good at, it was killing subordinates who disappointed her, and Teba and Warbler nodded their hands reluctantly.

“What about the embryos however?” Teba asked.

“Ahhn, don’t worry cute-boy~<3, I’ll take care of things on my part too~.” Andromedra replied in her own lewd way. “Ahhn, I hear Luci-Bluci are at Nifl, so there’s a chance it might be a water level. Teba, you’re fine as you are since you are an amphibian, though you might want this Warbler.” Andromeda formed a part of her gooey body into a cylindrical tank with tubing and a respirator, detached it, and gave the whole thing to Warbler.

“Oh I get it! Now that’s what they call Direct Kissing:French Maid edition!” Warbler cackled.

“Glad you like it, Warbler-chan~” Andromeda was burning hot, despite the cold damp sewers. “Ahhhn, it’s so cute to see you two cuties ready for your mission that I can’t wait for you to COME on down~!”

PLOOOSH! Teba and Warbler were thrown to the water by a push from Andromeda. Warbler immediately donned the respirator, attached the cylinder onto her back. Teba started to swim towards the mouth of the sewer, make their way through the Askran waterways, and head on out towards Nifl where those velociraptors are.

The waters were dark and freezing, Teba thought. He had hoped that as an aquatic creature, this mission would be relatively easy, given how the environment is within his forte. You would expect Warbler to be a popsicle by now, but she was surprisingly resilient, furiously paddling to create thermal radiation. It had been four days since they headed out from Askr and the two mercs were starting to feel fatigued. Periodically they sit down and rest on the rocky bottoms, eating passing fish that swam by. 

They came across a sign. A metal crossing sign on a rocky cliff over looking a patch of sea-floor below that was neon-lit with various fluorescent lights. Skyscrapers rising into the water column, illuminating the otherwise black sea. 

Teba was quite out of breath, and decided to rest adjacent to the crossing sign. “This looks like a very suitable place to recharge our batteries, so to speak,” the samurai said. “The view here is very magnificently beautiful I might add.”

“I could use a nice bottle of Caubernot Sauvignon to go with the view!” Warbler spoke, stretching her arms and legs. “ My body’s aching from all that swimming we just did over the past few days-wait, Teba, how many days had passed since we left that jail?”

“Well, the answer’s already in the above paragraph.” Teba answered. “Look above.”

“........Awww shit-!! Shit! Fuck! FOUR DAYS!?! Holy macaroni-with-wine the deadline’s in three days! That angry bitch is going to rip our spines out if those rowdy-raptors aren’t dead by then!!”

Teba pat his hand on Warbler’s head, stroking her white hair. “Don’t be so edgy. I have a feeling that those raptors are closer to us than you might  expect.”

Teba loosened up somewhat. “Whats makes you so sure of that?”

“Nothing in particular. I am not exactly sure if my theory is correct, but something is telling me that the lizards we’re hunting are right above us at the surface.”

“You mean those sharky-looking things with googly eyes, long tongues, and fiery throats?” Warbler pointed her finger behind Teba.

“What ‘shark-things’?” Teba questioned, as he spun his head. What he saw chilled him even more than the surrounding water.

 There were a massive swarm of sharks all around them, but they weren’t exactly “normal” sharks that you think of. They were lime-green whose flanks had a red horizontal stripe running down from their odd jaws that are likened to a pair of shears with one row of teeth on each mandible. Vertical light-blue bands crossed the red stripes, and the sharks possessed strange, calculating eyes situated on fleshy pink stalks that spun and twitched periodically.

Almost like the aquatic version of a chameleon,Teba thought, frowning.

There was another group of creatures as well, creatures that resembled dolphins, save for their curious three-lobed tails shaped like those from airplanes, and they were ivory white with splotches of ember orange on them. Their snouts were particularly long, like a gharial’s, and indeed, embers were falling out their mouths.

“Awww hell. Why can’t happy things ever happen to bad guys like us?” Warbler groaned.

Teba was just about to ready his katana blades into battle when something smacked around his belly, wrapping him up and tightening, causing him to drop one of his blades unto the ground. He didn’t have to realize that he was seized by the elongated tongue of one of the chameleon-sharks, and the creature was pulling Teba towards its jaws and was about to slice him in two when the samurai managed to stab his katana under the creature’s upper jaw and out its forehead between the eye-stalks. A deep crimson cloud filled with pieces of brain seep out and the chameleon-shark loosened its grip on Teba, and he was released. 

But when a previous danger passes, a new one immediately begins. A dolphin had opened its jaws agape, and spewed out expansive flames near Teba. The amphibious samurai leapt into the water column, barely missing the flames as a piece of ember had caught on his yukata.

Warbler picked up Teba’s second katana blade and proceeded to slice apart several of the chameleon-sharks and fire-breathing dolphins.”Take that bitches! Oh hey, you dolphins remind me of Celicunt from Echoes-because you girls all have celiac disease from guzzling down raw flour all day! Kahahahahaha~!” Several heads,fins,and tails floated down towards the ground as the waters were reddened by blood and organs-not that you see them in the darkness anyway.

“I see that you’re quite invigorated once more,” Teba remarked, slicing apart fire-dolphins and chameleon-sharks here and there. “If you don’t mind, I think I would like one of my blades back.”

“Sure thing Tebs!” Warbler chirped as she tossed the katana blade she was wielding towards the samurai, kabobing more sharks and dolphins in the process.  The dilophosaur took her Dragonstone from her breast pocket, and proceeded to transform into her saurian form, and tore apart more of the creatures.

“Sword Shield”. Teba activated his signature move. Emanating electromagnetic impulses, he spun his blades all around himself hand-free and shredded apart more sharks and dolphins. The shield might not be able to block the dolphin’s flame-spewing, but it’ll certainly chop the tongues of those water-chameleons. 

There was more slaughter when a bright magenta laser had pierced the ground between the mercenaries and the creatures.

“Alright ladies and mentlegen, why don’t we channel your violence into something more productive?”

A tall inigo-magenta man was floating down from the water column, and landed between one of the dolphins and Teba. 

“Dear me, what if Lady Basilice sees this chaos? She might add it as an action sequence in her writing, tough she does appreciate there will be a percentage of persons that will find carnage as appealing as moldy cotton candy.”

“What reason do you have for stopping our fighting?” Teba questioned the man in front of him, his attire the opposite tone of the samurai’s yukata. While Teba wore yukata that were colorful but not overly garish, the man’s clothes were very flashy. His jacket was deep navy with white and magenta lines, his boots were the same theme, and the man wore blood-red headphones around his ears. Pink and purple chromatophores running down on his cheek and hands added to the neon effect.

The fluorescent man waved to the remaining sharks and dolphins. They held their tongues and fire. “Listen, these guys here saw you wandering on this cliff and they simply wanted to welcome you to our city Neon Choral,” the man explained. “It would seem there was a huge misunderstanding and there was quite the ruckus.”

“May I have your name?” Teba asked.”It would be very tedious to the reader if they had to call a flashy fellow like you ‘The Man.’‘‘

“Call me Laba. Labea Iridophorous. And I would like to treat you to a local tea-house as a form of apology.”

“Will there be some sake as well?” Warbler licked her lips.

“Oh yes, there will be, my dear,” Laba answered, smiling. “In fact, I think I can escort you to those surface lizards you’re so eager to hunt.”

Jonathan Tuckey Design adds modern extension to traditional Cornish house

Jonathan Tuckey Design has renovated a historic house in Cornwall, England, adding a stone-clad extension that contrasts with the original lime-rendered building.

The London-based office headed by architect Jonathan Tuckey was tasked with sensitively modernising the building, named Cornish Cottage, situated close to the island of St Michael's Mount on the Cornish coast.

The 400-year-old property is of a style known as a Dartmoor Longhouse, which was traditionally built lengthwise down the slope of a hill and divided by a central passage into an upper area for people and a lower section for animals.

In its existing form, the house comprised a long, linear volume that was compartmentalised into a sequence of smaller rooms. Tuckey's studio set about improving connections between the spaces to make them better suited for modern living.

"Retaining the character of the building was a necessity," the architects claimed, "however, in many places the design sought to amplify the legibility of certain aspects."

The new interventions utilise a material palette chosen to reflect the changes the house has undergone throughout it history, with different surface textures deliberately juxtaposed to emphasise the various phases of construction.

Externally, the original lime-rendered cottage is contrasted by a new addition clad in stone quarried from a nearby village. This extension houses a bedroom and utility area on the ground floor, with a guest suite on the first floor.

A new entrance pavilion is crafted in wood

Details such as its large picture window and crisp, clean-lined form distinguish the extension as a modern addition, while its gabled upper level cantilevers to shelter an outdoor shower area.

Slotted between the existing house and the extension is a new entrance pavilion crafted in wood. The structure features vertical timber shutters that can be opened to allow more light into the hallway.

Irregular surfaces were retained inside

The lobby area features slate floor tiles and rough, stone-lined walls that the architects said help to lend these spaces "a sense of permanence and minerality".

Throughout the interior, the existing walls were insulated and their irregular surfaces retained to create a contrast with the more orthogonal contemporary interventions.

Light walls allow daylight to emphasise the uneven shapes throughout

In places where the old walls meet modern ceilings or floors, the new surfaces have been adjusted to follow the uneven lines of the existing structure.

"The client was keen to draw a link between the house and the ancient boat-building techniques that survive in the local area," the studio added.

"These were displayed through the careful and visibly crafted details throughout the building. However, they were also born out of necessity, as no two material junctions were the same due to the aberrant shapes of the rooms."

A simple palette of pale render, stone and wood lends the spaces a natural and minimal feel. The white walls emphasise the way daylight falls on surfaces such as the gently curved door and window openings.

Stone and wood details also feature inside

Jonathan Tuckey founded his eponymous studio in 2000 having previously worked for David Chipperfield Architects and Fletcher Priest Architects. The firm advocates for remodelling and modernising old buildings, regularly working on projects that revitalise unloved or under-utilised structures.

Tuckey's own home is a 19th-century steel workshop in London that he converted in the early 2000s. The studio also worked alongside WilkinsonEyre to transform several gas holders in London into luxury flats.

Gatorade - “Heart of a Lio”, the animated short film about Lionel Messi's life

Gatorade presents Heart of a Lio, an animated short film about Lionel Messi. #HeartOfALio Gizmo, the Argentinian animation studio founded 14 years ago by Andrea Bacigalupo and Emmanuel Verruno, had the challenge of making "Heart of a Lio", an inspiring story about pursuing your dreams. It is a 4 minute animated short film with Lionel Messi as the main character. The script was created by the agency TBWA\Chiat\Day LA for the Global Gatorade Soccer 2018 campaign. This project was carried out under Ema Verruno´s, Flamboyant Paradise’s ( Directors duo Javier Lourenço and Antoine Quairiat) and Nico Presas’ direction. The production was made from its Gizmo’s headquarters in Buenos Aires and the team was composed by more than 80 talented artists. For this animated short film starring by Lionel Messi, the team worked an original aesthetic in which the design of stylized characters treated almost as sculptures with environments, textures and hyper realistic materials was combined. Beyond the stylization of these designs, cameras and photography have a more realistic cinematic search. “To achieve this animation work, we have studied Messi in all its ages, both in its sport movements and its facial expressions - happy and euphoric moments, as well as moments of frustration and anger - to arrive at a natural and credible result" commented Ema Verruno. “Regarding the story, we have sought more surreal resources for certain key moments in its history, either to highlight his feelings or to tell certain moments of his life in a more original way," concluded Javier Lourenço. “The film has a very cinematic treatment, just as it works in the great American and European animation studios," commented Antoine Quairiat. “We want to highlight the joint work we did with the agency in Los Angeles, creator of the script, especially with the global creative directors of Gatorade, Ariel Abramovici and Bruno Acanfora, who entrusted us with the project.” said Javier Lourenço. “Without a doubt the great challenge was to achieve a fluid thread through the different sequences for a piece of almost 4 minutes”, concludes Nico Presas.
