I'm sick of waiting 3 months to request permission to go to the high school library because I was so ashamed to leave since no one ever went there (really no one from high school goes to the library) and I just asked for 2 days already and the gentleman told me clearly that "the library is made for reading not for studying and I just panicked I felt humiliated (I don't know why but I am all the time thinking a lot about what others will think after i do or say something but also i stress a lot for lots of things

I’m not sure if I’m the best person to be giving advice since I struggle with this stuff as well sometimes but I’ll try my best! 

That sounds very frustrating that you’re trying to get work done but feel like you can’t :( I admire you for sticking at it though it sounds like you’re very determined to do well and that’s amazing! Honestly I know this is probably a frustrating answer but only thing you can do is try your best and be kind to yourself as you do it. Your grades don’t determine your worth and you are so much more than how you do in school. Studying can be so hard but it sounds like you’re trying and you deserve to give yourself more credit for the studying and work you have done! 

And when it comes to other people honestly I’ve learnt that 99% of the time other people are too busy worrying about what people are thinking about them to judge other people. They also never remember when other people do things “wrong” because they’re too worried about themselves. You are doing what you need to do to get to where you want to be in life and that’s all that matters really, as long as you’re happy and looking after yourself. I know its a lot easier said than done but other peoples opinions of you shouldn’t stop you from being who you want to be and doing what you want to do. If those people feel the need to be unkind towards you do you want them to have any kind of control over how you live? I wish I knew how to stop being effected by the words other people say but I think most people will always be afraid of what people think of us to some degree. But you deserve to be at school and use the library to study just as much as everyone else there I promise you you deserve just as much time and space as every other person in your classes! if the people around you chose to not worry about school as much that’s their own decision but you as just as entitled to study ect there as they are to do whatever they’re doing. 

I’m sorry I’m not the best at giving advice anon, that sounds really tough but you have every right to be studying and I’m proud of you for sticking at it!! you can never control what other people think about you sadly but you can control how you feel about yourself. Ah, yes, Rigby and Saeyoung having a bit of Genius Rivalry. Luckily for them, they don't overlap entirely. He seems to gear more towards robotics and whatnot, which she does not. She likes making gadgets and weapons and techy suits and some seriously sci-fi stuff lmao.

Oh, she's also a hacker, a very good one at that, although it's not her primary job so I'd say she's probably just below Saeyoung in skill level.

Here's the first thing I didn't mention, the thing that caused her parents to keep her home most of the time: She has powers. It's not too much of a rarity in her universe, but its still the minority of the population, and it's best to keep the fact that you have powers on the down-low as much as possible. Her powers are reactive adaptation, coupled with enhanced strength. Her primary active adaptation is "steel" appendages such as wings. The steel-like organic material is her go-to.

Ever since she was 14, almost 15, she's been a vigilante hero, with her best (and first) friend Ryder, whom she met that same year. He also has powers, and eventually she revealed her powers to him because he was already doing the superhero stuff. And she was bored. Wanted in on it.

Deviant, she goes by, and it's where her cocky side comes out. Overconfident, cocky, witty, along with her usual demeanor. She loves pissing off her opponent, just like she loves pissing off her cousin, who takes care of her at that age.

Ah, right. Her parents, who are actually v good people and helped train her the best they could even without powers of their own, disappeared when she was 12. First her dad, called into work at HQ in Europe (they live in the U.S.), then her mom a month later, same deal, cos her dad couldnt handle the task on his own.

And then another month, and all communications stopped.

From there, it was practically Rigby's life goal to find them. She refused to believe they were dead. Long story short, they had no choice but to disappear, but were finally able to reunite when she was almost 19 years old. 7 years. She was just glad to have her parents back.

Nevertheless, though she would never admit it, she definitely has separation anxiety, and when she was still under her cousin's care, whenever he would leave on a business trip, it showed, though she tries to suppress it.

With her parents, came 2 new family members to be adopted into the family: Vasyl (m12) and Amara (f16). The reasoning behind this leads into an explanation on Rigby's work (and her parents' work), so I'll save that for later.

Rigby was a little upset at first, and it took her a while to get comfortable with not only the new siblings, but her parents themselves. However, she got close to Vasyl pretty fast, and now, at 22, she would put her life on the line without hesitation if it meant his safety and survival. She's stated that he's her favourite person lol.

Okay, one last thing: the whole fam is multilingual. Russian is her parents' first language, but her mom is like 1/4 american. Rigby considers both english and russian her first language, but would say english if she had to choose. By 22, she knows i think... 20 languages? Her powers affect the mind too -- quick learning and such (i did my research lol). So she knows so many damn languages lol.

You immediately sold it to me the minute that you said superpowers. You said wings and I said I'm simping.

She also seems too smart for her own good and sometimes that can be a tedious thing as well as a bad thing but it doesn't seem like it's that bad for her in that regard anyway. It sounds like she has a little too much fun with what she's doing out there. But, who hasn't been a little cocky and in over their head? Especially when you know you're smart and can whoop some ass like that? You shouldn't expect less from a teenager, I mean we've all read the comics, we know how that works.

I definitely find that character arc intriguing so it would be fun to see her pushed to her limits and how long she can hold up that feisty and brazen mask. Because, I know that we all can appreciate a character that's willing to go absolutely Wild, it can also be interesting to see how far they can be pushed before they absolutely lose it for real. That is to say, you don't really know someone until you know... circumstances put your back to the wall.

It's probably a good thing that she and Seven have different fixations because I imagine if they were working on the same thing that they would probably go mad with power. Because when you stick two people that know too much of the same thing together, well, neither can really figure out when to call it quits so they just keep working until they've invented, I don't know, time travel. When in reality they were supposed to be working on making popcorn or something. Nerds are impossibly incorrigible.

SECOND TIME TRYING TO ANSWER THIS CAUSE MY IDIOT ASS FORGOT I HAD ONE TYPED OUT AND CLOSED EVERYTHING :)

some disclaimers im getting most of this from an old draft i had written about the au, i havent watched the specific scenes in dbz and dbs that these are based on in well over 2+ years so i dont remember the timeline of events that well so im sorry if some of it just straight up doesnt make sense lol

this whole thing did start out as an excuse to replace the romantic scenes with mai in dbs with goten actually so the truten themes are pretty significant but that aside future goten is a very good boy with a much different personality and outlook on things… much like how future trunks is compared to his main timeline counterpart :3c the whole thing was developed by me and my gf together and we never rly posted too much about it and the broken links you did end up finding were probably from like the one or two times we did but here u go im glad u asked

the big change is it starts out with chi chi getting pregnant before goku dies of heart disease or whatever in the android saga instead of the cell saga, so even after he dies in that timeline she still has their 2nd son and he grows up in the future timeline with trunks.

when they were kids (like 10-15) goten was stronger than trunks just bc gohan and chi chi were there to teach him just a little bit. trunks and goten sparred a lot though so he was able to keep up but never really passed him. (that part isnt really important but i figured it was a nice detail that made sense)

thats when history of trunks comes into play, and they both get really serious about gohan training them. the scene in the movie where gohan knocks trunks out before flying off and getting killed is the same except now he just knocks out 2 kids instead of 1 i guess. 

i feel i gotta add that this au was created when the future trunks arc in dbs was airing, and mai was introduced as his love interest, and honestly in my opinion the scenes were written really well but i just wasnt digging the fact that before she was granted a younger appearance she was already middle aged, like she was old enough to be his mom if that makes sense. so it really isnt a dig on mai at all cause i love her and id die for her its just the romantic plot that i didnt like. so when that was airing i thought “WELL what if that was someone else” 

she’s still with them though in this timeline and she still has her younger appearance! 

the future timeline is still progressing the same as it did in canon, the androids still wrecked the place and no one was strong enough to do much about it so trunks is still set up with a time machine to meet with the other timeline. goten stays back and does his best to protect everyone while hes gone just in case

some stuff happens in between here but skip ahead to trunks coming back from the trip after the cell games i guess! lots of stuff happened obviously like trunks literally dying, spending years in the time chamber with his dad, meeting a whole gaggle of clowns that he’d only heard stories about, seeing gohan as a preteen. hes got a lot of stuff to share!!! now hes back and he can take care of the androids + cell + and goten can catch up and lifes pretty good over there! 😇

during the rebuilding period goten would spend a lot of time with chi-chi and ox-king and still slept over there occasionally which she really appreciated, and he invited trunks and bulma over there with him frequently.

despite this he wasnt present when she died as no one really expected goku black to wipe out the landscape so far from the city, but she and ox-king died along with more than half of the population. (ugh god im so sorry queen i love you😓)

as i said before mai is still here and she’s still the leader of the resistance!

events of future bulmas death is the same as well as mai originally intending to go with trunks when they meet up together in an abandoned building. goten is already there as the three of them rest up a bit and start making their way to capsule corp. goten was planning on staying behind anyways but he wanted to see the two of them off. when goku black interrupts them as they arrive, trunks and goten encourage mai to escape, seeing as she only has a gun and everyone already knows bullets arent gonna work. 

this scene is the same as it was in canon, where trunks tries to rush black but gets beaten quickly. mai trying to buy him time to let him escape is replaced with goten actually fighting him and taking a hit for trunks but getting knocked out as mai did. trunks under extreme stress from already losing his mom today assumes hes dead instantly, (he has dumb bitch disease, he didnt even check for a pulse in canon!🤔) and fires a masenko to escape into capsule on his own 

after trunks pops back in time and black is focused on searching for him, mai sneaks back in to retrieve goten (even though they told her to leave she really just ducked behind some rubble and stayed close, because she wasnt just gonna leave them!)

she takes him back to an underground bunker with other members of earths resistance and when he wakes up she tells him that trunks made it to the time machine and that hes presumably in the other timeline now. 

idk if yall remember it well but i rewatched some of the episodes just for this, and trunks in the main timeline believing goten was killed and mai is alone and he wont be able to get back is so sad. and when he spent that day with gohan and his family and cried thinking about how if black hadn’t have shown up, he couldve had a family too… he doesnt deserve to be this sad 😥

skip to when he’s finally able to get back home with goku and vegeta with him and they make their way to the bunker where he sees mai and goten together! the scene in canon where he rushes over and starts spilling his heart out is the same, with him telling goten he thought he died

they get a really sweet hug moment here when theyre both happy to see the other is still safe and it gives both goku and vegeta some Food For Thought, because goku actually didnt know there was a goten in this timeline, and he doesnt really recognize him at first. vegeta has the idea in his head that this is probably goten.

goten never really had any sort of real attachment to his dad. it makes sense hes never met him, hes only ever really heard about him through others, (his mom, his brother, trunks, and probably bulma has mentioned him as well) so he definitely knows OF him its just that, he doesnt know him. so when he sees the real goku standing there for once a lot of thoughts run though his mind, like, “that looks A LOT like goku black!” “thats definitely my old hairstyle” and “holy shit is that my dad?” but the first thing he actually says out loud is “Holy shit its goku orange” and vegeta really almost loses it because cause any doubt in his mind about this kid being related to kakarot just went right out the window cause only someone related to him would say that

and as you probably know a lot happens after that with them all finding a way to defeat zamasu but i dont want to include all of the rest when you can probably just interpret which scenes were changed  

ANYWAYS now instead of trunks surviving the apocalypse its trunks and goten surviving the apocalypse. thats why its not a really super romantic deal like Who has time for dates when goku black Might possibly be hiding in this abandoned olive garden?? so theyre just very close and privately affectionate

the ending where trunks and mai get to live in a new world with their counterparts is the same except gotens there with them of course, dbs left their ending pretty open 

so that takes care of the story changes, heres some additional details and information on gotens character in this au!

he kept his natural hairstyle for a while, but i think he changed it sometime during the rebuilding period after the androids and just let it grow out a bunch. up until then he kept his natural style purely to honor the guy he’s heard so fondly of even if it brought him a lot of mixed feelings when people said he looks just like him. a really distinct feature about his new hairstyle is that the spikes look like horns and i love that a lot !!

and the shawl he wears was the same one chi chi wore 

some personality traits for future goten is that he has a habit of bottling up his negative emotions and has trouble taking care of himself, as hes always more focused on the well being of his loved ones. he can be mischievous and cocky but hes not overconfident (or he hasnt been since gohans death) however in some situations he can be charismatic and assertive which works really well imowhen their timeline is erased and theyre temporarily in the main timeline, goten gets to meet a bunch of people like gohan and his family, chi chi, and even his counterpart

1. What does your character’s name mean?

i am….. a gigantic astronomy nerd; I love space, i love learning about stars, and i have a fondness for named constellations / asterisms. Originally, I fell in love with the name “Eridanus”: In that pretty famous Greek Mythos that pretty much everyone knows (another one of my obsessions), Phaethon begged his father, Helios (God of the Sun who rode a chariot every morning across the sky that would pull the sun into its place), to drive the chariot one morning. Helios allowed it, but Phaethon wasn’t able to fully control the chariot, and the horses went wild; Zeus eventually struck it down, and Phaethon with the chariot fell into the river–the river Eridanus. Here’s a hot pic of the constellation marking this event, right next to my FAVORITE constellation:

The son of the sun god, in his tragic tale, being felled by overconfidence, oversimplifying a massive task, and a much more powerful force to be deeply respected. Really sounds familiar now HUH i REALLY called that one three years aGO

Of course, as soon as I tried typing in “Eridanus” into the character creator, I found out it was already taken SO i retyped “Eridunis” as just a small alteration, and it worked! Also, unlike Eridanus (which I pronounce as “er-i-DA-nus”), I pronounce Eridunis as “er-I-du-nis” which the emphasis on the I if that makes sense. I know that was a long explanation, i’ll try to keep the others shorter, but I LOVE explaining how i got his name, and even then there’s more to it with Arkus next to him.

6. Do they have any hobbies that their lover finds unusual, odd, or otherwise annoying?

UH hm since he’s always traveling, it’s tough to do his usual hobby, which is gardening (especially in the desert), but he’s also a weaponsmith and a jeweler, so I think he takes that with him. He tries crafting items late at night, as like a distraction or a stress reliever, and Arkus has to frustratingly drag him to bed at 1am.

11. What is something that would make your character fly into a rage?

Anything someone else would say that would disrespect Arkus or his authority / integrity / expertise. He’s heard a lot of people, over the years, talk smack about Arkus–mostly because a lot of people don’t really know what Arkus does for the Pact and don’t know how he’s involved with Eridunis–and Eridunis has either overheard or been told about people saying things like, “he’s the Commander’s hype man, and that’s it,” “he’s just here to look pretty,” or if they do know what Arkus does, they might be like, “the Priory obviously doesn’t need him there, so he bums around here,” you know, things like that. Eridunis loses it when he hears things like that or even hears about them–he doesn’t even do diplomacy for these situations either, no “look, you need to respect Arkus because he’s with me; if you respect me, you need to respect him” shit, it’s just curses and punches at that point, immediately. When Trahearne was around, he had to break up a lot of these sorts of fights rip

29. What is one of the most courageous things your character has ever done for a loved one?

I don’t think there’s ever like a pinnacle moment where they’re like separated because Arkus has been taken or something, like no life-threatening thing has ever made Eridunis sacrifice himself for Arkus; however, there was like a…. social-political kerfuffle… Arkus is a Magister for the Priory, but he always wanted to rise to Archon status. Sometime around 1326-ish, like I wanna say around living world season 1, Arkus presented his research and submitted himself for Archon consideration, and when he sat through the ceremony (in which I feel like only one Magister might be named; it’s probably like a yearly thing so it’s incredibly competitive and hard to obtain), surprise, surprise: Someone else gets it over him.

Eridunis is also there, supporting Arkus, and after the reveal, he encourages Arkus to ask Gixx for some clarification, and Gixx sort of vaguely tells him that he hasn’t done much beyond dragon research (which is for the Pact, Gixx argues, NOT for the Priory), he’s always away with the Commander, but he avoids the fact that the research Arkus did submit 1) wasn’t dragon research, and 2) was incredibly thorough in its own way and had nothing to do with the Pact at all, and Arkus felt like Gixx was just hiding something.

To make a long story short (too late), Eridunis takes it upon himself (sort of at Arkus’s warning and behest; he didn’t want either of them to get in trouble) to sniff out a conspiracy and unveil that Gixx was no longer examining submissions for Archon consideration; he had silently given that task to someone else at the Priory. To make matters worse, that person had biases against several Magisters and Archons–and they had a particular bias against Arkus because of his race and his connection to the Pact. The reason I bring this up for this purpose is that the Durmand Priory is a huge organization, and Gixx is incredibly influential. Even if he lost his status from a slip-up like this–ESPECIALLY consider that it was during this time where the Aetherblades were infiltrating organizations and garnering power, imagine the damage that could have done under Gixx’s complacency–he still pulls the strings on a lot of smaller groups affiliated with the Priory. Not only that, but the Pact could risk losing the Priory as a subsidiary group–all because the Commander took the personal issue of Arkus’s “failure” and made it bigger, and public. Eridunis risked his job, his authority, he could have made the Pact suffer a huge loss in manpower, and he knew he was risking it–because Arkus warned him it could happen like that. But he did it anyway because the relief Arkus felt in recognizing that his research was enough–he was enough–for receiving that title made it all completely worth it to Eridunis. and that was a really long explanation for something that isn’t even like, traditionally-heroic, but adfakadfh i think it fits

Later in the story, Arkus and Eridunis start doing a little bit more PDA (nothing beyond hand holding; they’re really private people), and I think Eridunis starts putting his hand on Arkus’s back. Just anywhere, but particularly in the upper-middle part of his back, and he just runs his fingers along his spine over the cloth. And if Arkus is wearing the Elonian Elementalist outfit (which he wears in the hottest parts of the desert), Eridunis lets his fingers sit down on the small of Arkus’s back, and he’ll do the same thing–or if he thinks no one is looking, he’ll put his whole hand flush to Arkus’s back and drift it up under the cloth to casually hold him for a sec. very cute ;u;

hello there! i was discussing the recent events of the manga with my friend and he was saying that ishida has wasted his time, seeing the hyped awesome villain Eto fall against Furuta, when she could handle her own vs Arima himself, and then apparently disappeared ever since without a trace, supposedly dead, in addition to Arima dying for Kaneki's sake and the result is Kaneki completely destroyed vs Juuzo and Hanabe, which is imo really underwhelming and ridiculous even if he hasn't eaten...1

..2 and then Furuta becoming this all powerful villain out of no where feels kinda silly as well, and kaneki's fail in winning his fight just felt very underwhelming for his character, do you think Furuta being this op villain really is fine and kaneki just easily getting crushed isnt gonna make us slowly dislike the manga? (and yes its ishida's story after all but im just discussing) wouldnt be a there another route for the story to take other than this ?

This is an opinion question anon, but I’ll try to give you a meta answer as this really isn’t an opinion blog. 

I know a lot of the fights don’t make total sense in terms of shonen power levels, and I understand why that can be frustrating. I know a lot of people call shonen stupid but I actually like shonen, like shonen fights, and like the way mangas devise power levels and have to cleverly plan out fights. The fighting in Tokyo Ghoul is definitely a let down at times, I can think of the Urie and Roma fight for sure as a conclusion that made so little sense I was unsatisfied with it. 

However, as I’ve discussed previously in this meta here, fighting and power levels aren’t that important [x]. In fact Furuta himself as a character is not that strong, except for his one offscreen victory against Eto. We saw him even parody the shonen notion of gaining strength and a power up at the last moment only to totally fail in that fight.

So, rather than viewing Furuta as a character whose somehow all smart or all powerful, it might be better for you to view Furuta in a narrative sense. I’ve made this meta in the past as well, but Furuta seems to have taken over as the narrator [x]. 

In a meta sense what that means is Furuta is always the one setting the scenarios in these situations. Furuta acts, and everybody else reacts to him. However, Furuta retains control because he’s always the one plotting the scenario. He is the author, and the others are characters.

As we’ve noted several times, the current scenario basically follows this. Not only that, but the video that Furuta broadcasted to everybody was basically once again him narrating to them what is happening and what the current scenario is.

Reporter, Media, Script, Playwright, Casting, Last Boss these are all terms that describe narrative. When Furuta won so to speak, the words “Game Over” along with a glitching effect appeared on the screen. We’re meant to read Furuta not only as a character existing within the world and restricted by its rules, but also a character in a narrative sense.

Then the question is why exactly is Furuta able to seize control of the narrative even though he’s a character who came from relatively nowhere? This answer too is tied to the idea of narrative, and narrative foiling. The reason is simple, Furuta is the main villain because Kaneki is the main character.

The two of them are near perfect inversions of each other. Remember that word you used to describe Furuta, that he came out of nowhere and became the most powerful ghoul in the manga?

That is quite literally exactly what happened to Kaneki. He’s not the chosen one, he’s just some poor unfortanate soul who got ghoulified and happened to have  body suited for it. Three years later despite having nothing at all to do with the conflict he’s now completely at the center of it, with all of the ghouls literally moving for Kaneki’s sake alone.

Whereas Furuta’s backstory places him at the exact center of the conflict. He was born into this, he’s been plotting this his whole life. He’s even far more connected to Rize, who was the woman who brought tragedy upon Kaneki, than Kaneki ever really was.

In this story of Washuu and fighting V, in a traditional narrative Furuta who was born at the center of it all, who destroyed the Washuu, who plotted his revenge for his whole life would be a more traditional main character.

However, we follow Kaneki instead and our perspective is centered on him. Therefore we, much like Kaneki, view Furuta as having come from nowhere, and therefore having no discernible motivations.

However, Furuta is Kaneki, and Kaneki is Furuta. The reason that the final antagonist is Kaneki’s greatest foil is because Kaneki greatest enemy is ultimately himself.

Kaneki’s own choices, his limited viewpoint of the world are often what end up damning him again in again in tragic circumstances. Kaneki will not conquer tragedy until he conquers himself and looks at himself honestly so to speak. In the same way, he won’t conquer Furuta until he accepts Furuta, his shadow. 

That’s why what brought about Kaneki’s sudden downfall had more to do with Kaneki than Furuta really. The reason Kaneki was weak was because he starved himself and refused to take care of his body. The reason he lost so easily is because he got overconfident and charged in against Juuzou entirely on his own.

Furuta overcoming Kaneki didn’t come about by Furuta being a brillaint omniscient mastermind. He simply had to know what Kaneki’s weaknesses were and account for that. Furuta knows Kaneki so well because Furuta is, ultimately, Kaneki, the narrative embodiment of all of his flaws.

It’s Kaneki himself however who took a complex situation and narrowed it down to two really predictable choices. It’s Kaneki whose thinking is almost entirely reactionary, where Furuta will often have two or three plans going at once so he can adjust. 

Kaneki’s thinking is linear. He sees something and then tries to decide between one or two options, he even describes himself as being on railroad tracks. It’s as black and white as you can get. 

Kaneki’s always had extremely black and white ways of viewing things.

Furuta himself always blurs the lines between things. His thinking is lateral, he’ll often float two or three plans. You can tell there were several options to entrap Kaneki, he might not have even initially planned to rely entirely on the 24th ward raid. 

He also had back up plans. He promoted Mutsuki himself and Mutsuki devised their own plan to entrap Kaneki. He was also the one who made a public anouncement, and he probably was aware that Hajime was being sent down to the 24th ward. 

Kaneki wasn’t just trapped in one plan, he was in the midst of several but decided to narrow it all down to a binary choice. Either attack or retreat. He was, clearly and obviously outgambitted and the manga does a good job of explaining how Furuta won in practical terms without relying on just him being the villain or being super smart or something. 

Ultimately though, what sabotaged Kaneki is Kaneki. He wasn’t taken the role of king seriously. It didn’t need to be Furuta who took him down, Kaneki was doing a good job of sabotaging himself. 

Narratively though, as Furuta is Kaneki, the embodiment of his urge to die, his entitlement towards others, his need to have everything revolve around him, all of the worst parts in one package having Furuta be the final boss is in a way a way for Kaneki symbolically to confront his own flaws and overcome them, or at least accept them.

okay okay okay SO- i have an extremely similar trauma response to Persephone, and sort of similar trauma. (i also dont read fastpass, so dw bout that)

also idk if i talk in circles so TL:DR- her overconfidence was a coping mechanism, well see how much actual progress she made in the upcoming episodes i guess.

this is 100% her having this nebulous option. where if everything was how she wanted it, shed theoretically be able to say yes and have sex. theres someone who she is sure wants her and she is sure she wants him. when shes distracted by pulling her life back together, she gets to pretend that this 10 yr separation is the only thing in between her and a normal sex life with someone she loves.

working from her upbringing first bcuz its simple, many ppl have this "outburst" moment when in control of their life for the first time. kids of conservative parents dye their hair, get piercings, sometimes do drugs, sometimes seemingly innocuous things like who they date; Amish during Rumspringa are known for breaking all the church rules; even ppl well into adulthood have this after cults and bad relationships even if they were in control when they were younger. its her "acting out", in quotes bc its not bad. thats all her upbringing is contributing. i have a bad memory so correct me if im wrong, but sex wasnt necessarily something she saw shame around, her mother just infantilized her and treated her like an object she owned, like a piece of glass and if she wasnt careful Persephone would shatter. this doesnt go directly into "im five years late for my dick appointment", its mostly been shown in her clothing and her confidence while flirting.

onto her trauma, she was absolutely being all assertive and cocky and such as a coping mechanism. she wasnt going out and dating anyone in the mortal realm, and Apollo wasnt there, and shes seemingly far enough along in her recovery (or at least enough in control of her environment) that little things arent reminding her of her assault. so she got to be all confident and bold and not think about it.

shes compartmentalizing her trauma, shes not connecting what shes saying and wanting with what happened to her. which is kind of fine and kind of not. its good that shes able to talk and think about sex in theory without having a negative reaction. the not good side comes from how if her and Hades hadnt stopped something couldve triggered her during. which would turn out fine bc Hades is an attentive partner, but would add to her anxiety about the whole thing.

shes in this place in recovery where shes far enough past to want sex, and its been long enough since she came to that realization, that shes feeling pent up. like shes probably feeling like shes not in control of her sex life, between what Apollo did and then being separated from the only person she has ever wanted to have sex with, and shes right shes basically not in control here. and being all unabashedly horny is a way to claim control. yknow without going out and sleeping with someone.

i doubt shes actually thinking thru what shes saying. like not that shes not thinking about how it would go, but that shes probably not thinking thru her feelings all the way. like how we can all be like "oh if [bad thing] was happening, id totally swoop in and save the day" in our minds when for most of us thats probably not true. shes starting and stopping at "i want to have sex with Hades"

if i had to guess shes at this point where she knows she wants sex and desperately wants a positive experience, but doesnt know if shed have a nice time or cry on the spot, and thats whats stopping her. but in her mind, when shes not physically there with Hades in front of her, she doesnt have to think about that. in the mortal realm she was so far removed from it being a reality that her feelings dont really matter to her, and as she gets closer to being able to actually have sex she has this anxiety thats building up.

its hard to tell if she made a lot of progress healing, i mean obviously 10 yrs is a long time but it wasnt exactly her only (or most important) problem. she obviously was acting like it wasnt a problem while in the mortal realm, but her feelings still seem the same. which i guess is why they suggest she go back to therapy.

Help me understand Persephone’s sexuality

Please don’t spoil fastpass chapters!! Or at least warn me it’s a spoiler at the top of your comment!!

So, I need to start by saying I’m a hardcore asexual and sometimes have trouble understanding how allos experience sexuality. I’m making this post so that you guys can help me out. Forgive my ignorance and naïveté.

Persephone’s views towards sex in the latest chapter seemed rather contrary to how I understood them before. The lines I put above honestly seemed very out of character for her to me. (But I think it’s more likely I’m just not understanding her sexuality).

I think this post I made quite a while back explains well how I saw her view of sex in the past.

I was under the impression that she was absolutely sexually attracted to Hades, yes, and wanted to have sex with him, yes…but there were a lot of mental issues standing in her way—and affecting her view of sex in general. Her sheltered upbringing, her status as a member of TGOEM, and of course…what Apollo did to her…

Having sexual arousal and attraction doesn’t automatically equal “I’m going to die if I don’t have sex soon.” …Does it?

For someone with no shame around sex in their upbringing, and with no sexual trauma, it certainly might equal those things, yeah…but it sounds very strange to me to hear those things coming so blatantly out of Persephone’s mouth.

From my understanding, sex is still in essence a new and unexplored thing for her. The only other sexual encounter she’s had left her thinking (something along the lines of) “Is this how it’s supposed to feel? …This just hurts.” That to me doesn’t equal someone (who hasn’t had a good sexual encounter since) proceeding to go on and on about how much they want sex—even if it’s been 10 years. That equals “I’d very much like to have sex with this man I love. But I’m scared. Will it be like before? Or will it be as amazing as everyone says it is?” That feels more in-character for Persephone to me.

I understand that it’s been 10 years. But is 10 years with no (as far as I know) positive sexual experiences enough to go from “I’m sexually attracted to him, I want to have sex...but I’m scared” to “I’m going to die if I don’t have sex soon”? Maybe it is…but to me personally it felt out of character to read. Her words just seemed so extreme. Maybe it’s just that I feel like I wasn’t taken on that 10 year journey, so I’m still viewing her like her old self, when she’s changed.

I know she said it was bravado, but I don’t think that means her words were untrue. It felt like her words were true, but that she’s also not completely over the trauma too. (Basically that I’m thinking her trauma would affect her view of sex more than it does—in canon it still affects her, but not as much anymore). Am I misunderstanding? Was she just saying that to mask her real feelings completely? Why would she do that?

It seems like the coming chapters might discuss her trauma in more depth, and that might answer my questions. Which is great. But…still. That doesn’t change that she said these things.

I don’t understand how she became, not just unafraid of sex, but desperately wanting it and shamelessly talking about it in public. Her wanting it is in character, yes, but her level of—not just positivity towards the subject, but—desperation and shamelessness seems contrary to how I understood her character, and how she viewed sex, previously.

Please help me understand what I’m missing

So I am about to turn 17 in four months, and am going to move out soon. I am planning to get a fuel efficient car, so I do not have to pay much for gas.    Any year make is fine, even from the 50s. I love old cars, but unfortunately most of them are not cheap. A good sound system is preferred, with a cord that connect to your ipod/iphone, though it is not required. Safety is a concern too. I usually drive friends around when I can, so 4-5 seats would be nice. I can learn how to drive manual; I've heard those are really fuel efficient. Also, I think this is a bit self explanatory, but in case you didn't get it, I would also prefer a car that is not expensive, since it is my first car and I probably have to pay for part of, if not all of it. I am also pretty lenient about my preferences, and realize I might not get everything I want in my first car, which is okay.   One more thing, please do not recommend the Hyundai Accent. My mom has that car, and the acceleration on that thing is HORRIBLE. It literally refuses to accelerate on a hill unless I almost floor it. Even then it takes a second or two to actually respond. I realize a lot of people recommend it, but honestly I just really hate that thing.

My mom has that car, and the acceleration on that thing is HORRIBLE. It literally refuses to accelerate on a hill unless I almost floor it. Even then it takes a second or two to actually respond. I'm older than 24 and never got around to getting a driver's license because I went to college at a young age. Now I have an opportunity to use my mom's insured car for a couple months, and I want to practice and get a driver's license, just so that I'll have the driving test out of the way (and won't feel so weird being this old without a license). So I am about to turn 17 in four months, and am going to move out soon. I am planning to get a fuel efficient car, so I do not have to pay much for gas.    Any year make is fine, even from the 50s. I love old cars, but unfortunately most of them are not cheap. A good sound system is preferred, with a cord that connect to your ipod/iphone, though it is not required. Safety is a concern too. I usually drive friends around when I can, so 4-5 seats would be nice. I can learn how to drive manual; I've heard those are really fuel efficient.
