— fights the urges to spoil you.. he’s not the richest, but he does have disposable income. and if it’s just gonna sit there in his bank account, why not spend some to make his girl happy? his spouse hates it, you're already spoiled enough as it is.

synopsis: kazuha taking care of you during a fever. fluff. nicknames “honey”, & “darling” are used for the reader.

a/n: its been two months since i genuinely wrote something, wtf? missed yall.

you wake up to your throat hurting, and an irritating cough that sounds like an old man has been holding in since he was conceived.

turning over, you notice an absence in the sheets beside you, long gone cold. kazuha’s up and about, and judging from the lack of body heat, he as been for a while.

you were ready to hop out of bed and begin your day before hearing a bunch of “ah ah”’s put together with the clanging of glasses behind you.

“glad to see you’re awake,” kazuha begins, setting a tray down on the bedside table. “however, you seem to have caught a fever.”

you cock your head in confusion. disregarding that annoyingly dry cough, you felt fine. also disregarding the suffocating stuffy nose and headache. also, were you always this light headed before you got up?

ignoring the obvious signs your body attempted to give you, you shake your head and shrug. “thank you, kazuha, but i’m fine.”

“but you’re not?” he disagreed.

“if im not, i can assure you i will be fine.” you say confidently, letting out a choked cough. a smug smirk appeared on kazuhas face. you roll your eyes. “okay, but that doesn’t mean anything. i just need something to drink.”

he hums dismissively. “you can deny it all you want, darling. but, you’re sick. let me take care of you.” he insists, gentle hands pushing your shoulders to guide you back to sit on the bed. “i’m not gonna stop bothering you until you do.”

you huff, nose scrunched. “im not sick.”

“would you like me to check your temperature?” he asked, making his way to the bathroom for the thermometer.

“i don’t need a caretaker!” you deny.

“so you admit your sick?” he asks, poking his head from the corner of the door frame.

“no! im not sick, nor do i need a caretaker.”

he sniffs the air, pinching his nose playfully. “honey, i don’t know about you, but i smell bullshit and hyper independence?” he says, turning the thermometer on as he walked toward you. “open your mouth reaalll wide for me.”

you roll your eyes at his shenanigans, opening your mouth and lifting your tongue for the thermometer, expression getting slightly more worried when his smug expression begins to turn a bit worried. “what is it?”

“honey, your temperature is at 190. you need to rest.”

“190?!”

“190.” he assures.

you bite your inner cheek, upset at your bodies betrayal. you never really happened to get sick, and at the first sign of sickness, you practically buried yourself in vitamins and nutrients to demolish it the moment it showed itself. so how come you didn’t see this coming?

“now, will you please let your loving, doting and caring lover take care of you?” he asks, moving your body to go back under the sheets despite your spiking temperature, and placing the tray of food onto your lap. “besides, i made your favorite. i’m sure you’d hate to see such a delicious meal go to waste?”

you look down at the tray below you, which had a bowl of fruit, orange juice, assuming herbal tea, and your favorite breakfast. two gummies and two pills sat on the side of the tray in a small circle. presumably, its probably medication.

“fine. only this once though.” you agree reluctantly, picking up an utensil to begin eating. “im starving, anyway.”

he hums, sitting at the edge of the bed. “whatever you say honey. should i put on a show?”

Today I'll be addressing the extreme amount of hate us jegulus shippers have been receiving. To clarify, I myself have been a receiver of death threats because I ship this since I was 13, A CHILD. To begin with @jilyserrr is a big contributor to this hate, and I have no problem naming and shaming. This..creature..seems to be fine with openly telling us to die, so this thing should be okay with me mentioning it! Anyways, a lot of anons have been attacking jegulus shippers too. And to be honest, I don't care, but I know a lot of people are getting frustrated. Because at the end of the day, has it ever occurred to you that we don't give a shit what you have to say? The anons telling us to die and that we're pieces of shit are obviously trolls and as annoying as they are, it can be dealt with.

But unfortunately there seem to be other people who think they're, let's just say, moral heroes that want to involve themselves too. and I'm sorry, but as a sapphic woman I'm going to say this, "but you guys don't write about wlw ships" WE DONT CARE. Timeskip Yuhi is genuinely a super enjoyable character to watch. Like I don’t think I was goo fond of Yuhi beforehand but it wasn’t like I HATED him its more like I didnt favour him in any sort of way yknow?

Yuamu felt like she hasn’t been getting much but that duel where she took Yuga’s place??? Just eugehdghd the way she’s talking about how Yuga’s alone and stuff and how he’s willing not to go back to his time and do something that truly just breaks off all his connections to the people in this timeline??? GEGDHGDHD and the way she was like “why cant i be there for him? Im his ancestor.”

I also love the way that all the ancestors of the people Yuga went to space with helped to get him back to his timeline :33 I don’t think Yuga’s story will end just yet in Go Rush though.

The whiplash from Yuamu’s disappearance/Yuga’s departure to whatever the hell is going on with Yuudias, Yuhi, Epoch and Damamu is just huh??? Like I’m fine seeing them in wacky situations but ehgdgehdgdh I don’t hate it but i do prefer the more serious moments as I remember them more.

Gonna be ranting about the way harassment is talked about so leniently in tbhk.

That part where Tsukasa kissed Nene makes me so mad because we didn't get to even see Nene's genuine reactions, she only thought manwha type stuff it's so annoying.

Let's also talk about Hanako he's also harassed people constantly.

Looking up Nene's skirt, throwing Kou to the ground numerous times, never respecting boundaries even when told to.

I feel like I should add how both Aida and Iro are guilty of this in most of their stories actually.

Sure it's a popular thing in Japan to treat it as a joke but that's exactly why so many horrible shit heads can get away with harassment.

Oh god let's not forget the scene everyone on twitter and tik tok hates.

Chapter 69 during the aoiaoi fight, I will always defend it to my heart forever and ever but I acknowledge that the way Akane was touching her was kinda weird that's why I struggled to read it at first. The kiss at the end was consensual but holding her in place, and we whatever that panel of him was I don't wanna think about it was definitely not consensual.

I don't like how it's treated. I don't care that it's a comedy sometimes or that a shounen trope like this are common, both writer and artist are women I'd expect them to try and treat it with a little more care.

I've seen how most Japanese readers don't really address the bad things of the manga or maybe they just don't notice and I don't think that's good at all.

So many characters have done weird things I'm just picking who didn't, mitsuba and the adults seem to be the only ones who haven't harassed anyone really, even then they have faults.

Even Kou , he tied up Mitsuba it kinda pisses me off for no reason. Maybe im just petty but I knows it's supposed to be comedy, I still laugh at that thing but it's still weird how Kou tied him up in the first place and had no objections by Mitsuba at first maybe I'm thinking too hard about it.

I despise that part where Hanako enters Nene's body. Not consensual, plus using her as a way to get away with things.

People see it like a funny moment but it's still sexual harassment and harassment in general I hate is so much. The fact that he commented on Aoi's breast size makes me even more mad because he touched it wanting or not, and decided to say it even making fun of her.

Plus Nene was obviously uncomfortable with it I'm not sure how she was able to look at Aoi ever again.

Also poor Kou???? He's a poor 14 year old boy Hanako does not need to do that with Nene's body I feel so bad for both Kou and Nene. Kou wanted to do something about it but he couldn't even dare to look at the scene Kou Minamoto they could never make me hate you.

English translation fucked it up a bit , they made him comment on the occurrence saying "seductive" but what i think is more fit is "embarassing". AUGHHH tbhk stop putting your main characters in weird scenes challenge failed.

The image in the first volume of Nene being naked errr it's censored yes but weird. We could've had just hanako talking about it but we didn't need an artist rendition. Someone made an edit of that panel making her covered parts visible and it disgusts me like it would for other people too.

Talking so freely about wanting to see her naked is very weird from Hanako's part I don't exactly know if it does count as sexual harassment but for me it is.

I think we forget Sumire tried to erffghnb with Hakubo and I like that all she got was a headbutt. Oh oh and well Hakubo's kiss was uncalled for but her slap was even more.

The scene where she gets eaten goes down easier if you remember she was completely fine with it, both of them where okay with it happening (i still struggle reading that part 😓) so it's not really that bad.

I’ll probably post more about this in more detail, especially now that the reboot is pretty much done and dealt with. (There is no confirmed Season 3. Stop lying.)

So you know, most of what I have to say in this post is rambling and complaining, because I am ticked off. So if you like the ending of the season, good for you… this is the opposite opinion to that.

Spoilers for Season Two and it’s ending:

This season, for me, is definitely above All Stars and Paketiew. Definitely. I genuinely enjoyed the first two thirds of the season, and its slip ups weren’t too big of deal breakers for me on the season. (Except Millie. I will forever be salty about it and I can’t say I like her character anymore after what this season did with her)

The season was funny, it was engaging in a lot of plot lines, I thought the order was pretty clean, I’m enjoying it and really invested in how all of these plot lines conclude….

AAAAAAANNNND then Zee outs Caleb.

I break the season to three acts. Pre-Merge is the first act.

Episodes 6-8 is the second act.

And right when Zee outs Caleb, is where I’d say the Second Act ends, and the Third Act begins.

And the third act, in my humble opinion, is GOSH. AWFUL.

Like, OH MY GOSH, they screwed up EVERYTHING.

Except MK and Julia in Episode 9. That’s wholesome.

But other than them, literally ALL the other plot lines in the season that I was invested in were completely botched in conclusion. And I can’t like these plot lines anymore.

How do you do that?! Like, WHAT happened here?!

This may seem incohesive, but I’m just that baffled.

I don’t even care about the elimination order right now. You CAN make whatever finalist you want work so long as the story suits it. So Im not gonna say “Oh Julia should’ve won” or something like that, as a complaint. That’s personal preference.

Remember the post I made complimenting Priya and Caleb’s relationship plotline?

That aged like milk. I don’t like them anymore. They were obnoxious as I’ll get out and I just wanted them booted ASAP.

I made a post about how I thought Priya would quit instead of being eliminated. I do think that would’ve been better than what we got because at least there Priya would be making a conscious decision that no one else can factor in. Instead she acts stupid for the sake of Julia and spends the rest of the season whining about Caleb instead of the what they’ve discussed and learned from each other before.

And Caleb being a finalist? After what he’d done I’m shocked he wasn’t booted in a heartbeat after that.

I don’t think they should’ve became a couple tbh. Apologize and make up, sure, but not get together in this whole mess. With how the story was going, it seemed they’d realize and recognize that. But no. It lead to nothing. Way to go.

Damien? I don’t care if you thought he should’ve won or not. That’s not the point. The writers didn’t want Damien to be a finalist. Fine. Okay. Just make an elimination that’s logical and wraps up his storyline-

NOPE. Julia stole the idol. Which I expected, but it’s something she somehow managed to do when paranoid Damien was always around it btw. She did this OFF SCREEN. So even the writers don’t want to come up how she managed to do that difficult task. YOU COULDNT AT LEAST SHOW US?!

Why would they even eliminate Damien? No one was even after him. It’s because they didn’t want to separate Priya and Caleb…

Stupid.

It really solidified to me that Damien had no relevance to this seasons story and could’ve been written out of the story. As tragic as that is to say. Like, make Priya or anyone on the Rats the one Millie pushes down the 4 Point Slide, make Priya find the idol and lose it at her elimination to Julia, and nothing changes.

What a waste of Damien’s character.

I love Julia in both seasons. So you know. I genuinely think she and Bowie have the best character arcs of the two seasons combined. I was actually kind of routing for her in the finale?? Ngl???? Like, I didn’t hate her, I found a nastier World Tour Heather, someone who WORKED for her goals. Good person? No. But an intriguing one to follow.

But this is the definition of plot armor. Multiple times they had to make the other characters act irrationally just so they don’t vote Julia’s ass off in a heartbeat. Which, if they were rational, would do cause everyone KNOWS that Julia is a bad person!

That’s why in the first season and the first half of this season, she had to make herself getting voted off NOT an option for the others. So she won challenges to get immunity. She allied herself with MK to get an extra vote. She got on Bowies worst side to make him want to work with her.

But in the second half it’s pure plot armor.

I thought Bowies elimination and how she managed to convince an entire team to go with it was stretching things. But I could push it aside cause it made sense for Bowie to leave in that episode.

It just got worse.

Once MK is gone, Julia has nobody on her side and no excuse. They should all vote her off in a heartbeat. But they don’t because they are stupid.

They somehow trust her?! With everything she says?!

Even the smartest characters like Priya trust her. She says she knows she’s being used, but decides to let it happen. That is very OOC for Priya. One of the most game-smart characters in the entire series!

Julia being a finalist is actually an idea I’m on board for on paper. But it was just illogical how she got there.

Also, they cut the villains hair off AGAIN.

TOTAL DRAMA, PLEASE STOP SHAVING CHARACTERS HEADS. IT WAS GOOD EITH HEATHER CAUSE IT MADE SENSE FOR HER CHARACTER AND THE STORY. AFTER THAT ITS ILLOGICAL AND CRUEL FOR NO REASON. THERE ARE OTHER WAYS FOR VILLAINS TO GET COMEUPPANCE BUT YOU KEEP USING THE SAME ONE EVEN WHEN IT MAKES NO SENSE. ITS NOT FULFILLING ANYMORE AND WERE ALL SICK AND SEEING IT. YOU DRAGGED THIS THROUGH THE MUD, KILLED IT, AND NOW REVIVED IT JUST TO SMACK IT WITH A SLEDGEHAMMER.

STOP THIS RIGHT NOW!!

At least Julia and MK were great. Mostly because they mostly weren’t in the third act together.

Oh yeah, and there’s also Wayne and Raj. I like them. They’re fun. I like their pre-merge story.

And then Wayne won??

Yeah, Wayne, you know, the comic relief character with no strategy in a very strategic-centric season. Winning.

I can’t tell if it’s supposed to be a joke or not.

If it is, it’s funny like, the first time you see it.

If it’s not, and we’re supposed to take that seriously…

Ooh boy.

I see people compare this to Owen. I don’t think that’s fair given both seasons separate contexts, the characters screen time impact, and theming.

I personally compare this to Beth. Both are tied to someone very similar to them until the very end where their partner, who got more to do, gets eliminated, and then they proceed to fly under the radar because they’re the least nasty people left in a nasty cast remaining.

Now HOLD ON. I am NOT saying Wayne is on the same quality of a character as Beth. Far from it. Wayne will always be the better one of the two for me, because I actually enjoy him on screen, and most importantly, he wasn’t a hypocritical gross cheating creep.

Wayne winning a season CAN work on paper. I’m not opposed to it.

But this is not the way to do it.

This isn’t a guy who has won people’s hearts through being great towards them, he’s only interacted with Raj. This isn’t a guy who has quietly played his cards when necessary. This isnt a guy who has flown under the radar due to being the lesser evil. This isn’t a guy who has clear skills apparent to the viewer but not the characters.

He has done next to NOTHING all season.

I can defend Wayne having some variety of character in season 1, where he was sometimes capable of holding a leadership position, and willing to be patient and loyal, but NONE of these were portrayed in THIS season.

So pretty much, he has won by doing pretty much NOTHING.

At least Raj got a plotline that wasn’t being comic relief 24/7. And I’m not saying Raj should’ve won. Wayne can definitely be his own character, but Raj got eliminated in episode 11/13. Too little. Too late. Honestly, if you’re gonna have Wayne win, eliminate Raj earlier. Swap Raj and MK’s eliminations. At least then Julia making it far is justified cause in Episode 12 she has the idol.

I’m sorry if this is me rambling, but I was genuinely insulted and baffled by the ending of this season. This season started out really good, then declined in quality as it went on.

I definitely prefer the first season. While it’s not as funny as season two’s first two thirds, and has weaker challenges, it’s more cohesive and consistent in quality that reached logical conclusions for almost every character. Love or hate them.

This season, to me, is proof that you cannot botch endings to stories. You try something fancy and screw up, people are gonna remember the mess of an ending, and not the journey. I think that’s apparent with the reactions I’ve seen so far.

You can have a bad beginning. You can even have a bad middle. You can salvage those. But the ending is what you can’t afford to mess up because that’s what your audience will walk away from and remember.

When people look at this season, they’re gonna remember the badly handled ending rather than the good stuff in the first half.

can i rant here a little bit? i hope you don't mind! okay so... i'm a big yinwar fan and have been since love mechanics (it was not a perfect show we know that but their chemistry was top tier), the partners in crime trailer was amazing tbh can't tell you how many times i've rewatched it it's just so good! and they did that just for a concert like good for them!!! so i was soooo excited about j&j! and i enjoyed the first episodes so much, it's a good show, it has social commentary it has good acting it has war wanarat it has slowburn (i looove a good slowburn) but at some point they... lost me? and i'm so sad about it lol because i love them! but like the last three episodes i found boring i was fast forwarding some scenes even, the pacing was weird, some decisions i didn't understand, the conflicts didn't hook me up at all, the tension they have been building up completely flattened for me, the kiss felt so anticlimactic 😭 i hate this, i guess i wanted to know your opinion maybe i need to give it some time or something idk idk i enjoyed sooooo much the first half of the show that's why i'm sad

first of all, please remember that if you need to rant about a show or even life in general, my ask box is always open and i will always gladly listen, so i don’t mind at all!!!!

about jack & joker…….oh boy. okay. i feel like someone is gonna snipe me out of the fandom by the end of this, but let’s talk about it. i want to preface this by saying that i appreciate this show a whole lot and that yinwar will always have my undying admiration and support for being able to put together a series like this without a company to back them up: they dared to do a unique plot without knowing how well it was going to be received, which is a risk that big consolidated companies are still too afraid to take ([coughs] GMMTV [coughs]), and they’re doing so while also serving great social commentary, complex characters, interesting dynamics, incredible acting, insane chemistry, and an actual slow burn

all this being said, i try my best to be objective and honest in my opinions, and while the show has all the elements that i love and that would normally make me go crazy, it’s unfortunately not working as much for me, and that’s because i agree that the show has MAJOR narrative and pacing issues. you actually nailed one of the main problems down, which is that the tension that was steadily building in the first few episodes, both plot-wise and relationship-wise, all of a sudden completely flattened out. and don’t get me wrong, it’s perfectly fine to include moments where the pace is slowed down to add new information or character motivation, because while they do temporarily slow down the momentum of the story, they also help to make the later tension that much greater and more gripping, but after episodes 5 and 6 – after the group steals aran’s mother’s necklace back from rosé, after jack forgives joke, after aran gets disowned by his father and moves in with tattoo – the tension has had trouble picking up again

even if they included new conflicts – grandma getting sick, jack becoming boss’ adopted son and being forced to court rosé, the four horsemen – the narrative has started to crumble around the edges, because suddenly it has lost sight of the characters that it used to build tension up until that moment, and instead of releasing that tension, it just leaves you with all these loose threads that don’t really get tied up: how did tattoo and aran get closer? did aran’s father beat up any bodyguard in place of aran or was it always hope? is hope still recovering? is jack going to find out about what save did? how close jack and save even were? how did they meet? how did hope and save meet? i still have no idea who nang is for rosé and the boss and idk if i’ve missed something or ??????

and like im sure some of these questions will get an answer in the last three episodes, but the focus has shifted so much that whatever tension was built over them is now gone. i personally think they were able to raise it back up a little in episode 9 thanks to the heist and the group being back together (which is why i enjoyed it way more than the previous two), but the narrative feels very clunky to me. as for the kiss itself, i actually liked it, but i understand how the entire confession scene might feel a bit anticlimactic, and again i think it’s because all the tension they built up between jack and joke basically disappeared once jack forgave him. yes, the divorce era in episode 7 and 8 hurt, but by then the viewers already knew that the two of them had feelings for each other, and the entire thing with rosé was never really a threat to their relationship, so you’re just waiting for them to confess. they could have made the tension rise again by making them do that in the heat of the moment (while arguing, after one of them got hurt, etc.), but i guess they wanted that to be a small moment of peaceful joy for them, so i appreciate it

this got so incredibly long so im shutting up now, but the point is. i very much feel the same way as you, anon, and believe me when i say im also incredibly sad that im not going crazy over the show like i wished to. it’s still probably gonna make it into my top 10 BLs of the year for a couple of different reasons, but yeah, for what is worth, you’re not alone

let’s hope the last three episodes can up the stakes and tie up all the loose ends somewhat nicely!!!!

i forget what the actual woman's name is, like who she is when she isn't a dollar store she-hulk. she's fine i guess. i have no strong feelings, as a person she is relatively inoffensive. but the weird rage monster she turns into? it's stupid, it looks bad. if there was a reverse version of the "solid design" square i would have filled out that because the design is genuinely EMBARRASSINGLy bad. and her whole thing is a cheap rehash of the killer frost plotline. "wahh i have a dark side i can't control!!" sorry i don't care, we did this 3 years ago. and then she's like "omg we're all a family! you two random men i've never met are my brothers <3 let's all go live in the magic fairy dreamhouse version of joe's house in the clouds and live happily ever after!!" like oh shut UP.

then we have the sage force, bashir, and this one is a plot twist cos i actually kinda like him lmao

if bashir was a one-off meta of the week and not one of the forces i'd actually really like him? he's a douche but in an enjoyable way, i genuinely think the part of his intro ep where he shows all the characters their greatest fears is really interesting (bar the part where iirc cisco's greatest fear is "working at star labs with the people he loves and cares about forever", like... okay. and then this was the catalyst for him leaving... nvm i hate bashir actually

nah jokes aside i genuinely kinda don't mind him as a character in his own right. again my memory is fuzzy but im pretty sure he had psychic mind control beef with cecile which was fun. he was also basically the only one of the forces who was like "this is fucking weird and i hate it", at least at first, so he has my respect for that. and again, im just gonna say it, he's hot, which makes his sins easier to forgive. remove him from the overarching concept and he's fine, he just had the misfortune of being part of the worst plotline in the show's history.

However, when we hear abt Winston's wife and her 'duty' to the Party it's clear he didn't want or enjoy what they were doing there.

Winston and Julia's rebellion comes through the sex they share. Because their love is beyond any 'duty to the party', the euphoria of love is infinitely more powerful than the Party as it tries to limit sex to something undertaken only for reproductive purposes. Winston, who was a victim of r/pe when his wife, and by extension, the Party, forced this copulation upon him. Through his lovemaking with Julia, he is free.

Julia's promiscuity is her liberation. In a society that has removed her agency and her sexuality, she finds freedom through her relationship with Winston.

you had a real good set of points, but my brain pokes me until I've defended 1984's handling of julia and winston's fantasies. Remember, a book should never be hated for covering sensitive subject matter. Otherwise the booktok authors will win haha

Okay okay first of all, I totally agree with the BookTok author thing because books these days are getting shittier by the copy and many people have already talked about this with much better words then I can possibly come up with but it’s definitely an issue in the current online reading community

About 1984, I am fully aware that the whole sex crazed part of the plot was their form of rebellion. Had it been well written, it could have been immensely good for the story. But the fact remains that Winston and Julia still hate every single woman for not being like them or agreeing with them. The fact remains that Winston, who works for the Ministry of Truth and knows what happens and what is wrong with the Party, only decides that the Party is bad when he wants to get his dick wet.

The whole storyline with his wife was bizarre, I’ll give you that. Although going as far as saying that he was raped… I’m not sure about that one. Winston likes sex, it was only when he realized his wife only did it to fulfil their duty to the Party that he stopped enjoying it. It’s fucked up for both him and his wife, mostly for him considering that we only get his perspective on this and don’t even know what happened to his wife.

Writing characters that love and enjoy sex and find liberation through it is fine, writing characters that have some weird desires and fantasies is okay if you’re into that kind of stuff. For characters like Winston and Julia, living in a world like this one, sex crazed fantasies can make sense. Mostly, my issue is that Winston wasn’t just fantasising about having sex with a woman he couldn’t have, it was the entire smashing her head in and basically fucking her corps, or whatever remained after that brick smash, that bothered me. The fact that Julia was in love with him all along doesn’t make any sense either. They work in different departments, live in different places and have different social lives (as forced upon the by the Party, I’m very much aware) yet she’s crazy in love with him without ever having said a word to him and only seeing him in passing. I get that sex was their way of rebelling against the system that oppressed them, but I think there could have been a much better way of writing that.

There were many ways they could have rebelled against the Party. The liberation through lovemaking would have been a great asset to the story had it been written better. Julia wasn’t a young woman whose promiscuity liberated her, she was a young woman who was obsessed with man and belittled everyone else in order to gain his favour. Winston wasn’t a man who found freedom by sleeping with Julia, he was a man who rightfully hated the system society had forced him into and he coped with violent fantasies both before and after meeting Julia. Neither of these things make either of these characters likeable or sympathetic in my eyes.

Winston is the product of a messed up world qnd my issue is that, in the end, he is a fictional character in a fictional world who has fictional problems created my a man who could have made slight changes to make the story less misogynistic and more about what it should be about: the consequences of totalitarianism.

This is also why the last part of the book, after his relationship with Julia is found out and they are both arrested by the Thought Police, is the best part of the book. Only then we learn how truly messed up thid society is and how it works. It was amazing snd the obly part of the book I genuinely enjoyed, probably because Julia and their relationship was barely in it. Of course, this part of the book only worked because of their relationship, I’m fully aware, and I honestly think that, had their relationship been better, that part would have elevated the book to a whole other level. There is a way to convey the message Orwell wanted to share in a way that wouldn’t have been as misogynistic. Orwell chose not to do that, most likely because things were different in that time.

In this time, I don’t like this book for all these reasons. I like the critiques it gives on society and I like the way the world is constructed and how all of it works. It is purely Winston and Julia’s relationship that ruined this for me. Had it been better written, I would probably have loved thid book as much as you seem to do.

In the end, 1984 is just a book that you happen to like and I don’t. I get your points, I really do, but they don’t change how uncomfortable this book made me feel. Not because of what it had to say about society, but because of what it said about women.

FIRST OF ALL: Build. Okay this one is probably a bit strange for some people but listen. Listen. I want you to understand something. The chances of a woman being stick thin and curvy in the way Cha Hae-In is AND ALSO being able to throw a fully grown man like a pinata is almost zero. (Another thing we never see from her which is just plain sad, she never goes up against a single man in a meaningful confrontation.)

Her boobs are bigger than her face, okay. Women can and do have large breasts- in and of itself, this isn't a problem. Her thighs are also quite large. Not bad, not bad, we've got some symmetry going on. You find out later she's a track and field star who was going to become an athlete but gave it up for the sake of protecting ppl as a hunter. ofc that doesn't come out until like the last forking chapter but okay. fine.

HOWEVER. While her thighs indicate something of the strength of a runner, her calves do not. Her knees also do not. When you're a runner, it's generally obvious. The most successful runners also have A Build. You can look at one and just Know: you run.

An example of a smaller detail, many runner's have a Runner's Knee- a specific group of muscles that, when repeatedly trained, can look almost like a second knee on some people because of how incredibly developed they are. If Cha Hae-In was a serious athlete, it wouldn't be abnormal for her to have this.

She's not often portrayed full body, and this is generally a forgettable thing, so okay. fine. HOWEVER (theres gonna be a lot of these just get used to it my friends) her waist is the size of a stretched cat. Her arms are twigs. I have seen women who are genuinely Strong. They do not have thin arms.

So i guess for the sake of the story, we're gonna suspend belief and say that it's mana or magic or S-Rank bullsheep. Okay. She's got an okay-ish build for a runner- still not realistic but if we lean into 'It's Magic' and she wears two sports bras every time she runs and biking shorts so she doesn't chafe, then whatever. fine.

She's blonde. I hate this. For real reasons but also personal preference. Too many webtoons and books and stuff fall into this, just like there are too many elf romance books where the male lead hads white hair. why does he have white hair? nobody knows. This is nothing against blondes. I've dyed my hair blonde. I had fun, it was cool, this isn't a 'nobody should be blonde because it makes them a ditz' post. begone stereotypers. tho that is another of my annoyances w her character (the ditz part babe not the blonde part thats a separate issue) but that's not about the sin of being blonde thats about the sin of undeveloped characters.

Okay so. She's a Korean. And she's blonde. Alright, lets suspend belief, its a dungeon story. sure. sure. but give me SOMETHING. SOMETHING to tie it into the story, some reason, some interesting tidbit to just flesh out and give her a little flesh on her bird-like twig bones that are NOT REALISTIC given the rest of her build and her physical prowess. (yes im harping on this)

For example, let's say mana flooded the world with the opening of the gates and had strange effects on some human. the awakening of hunters is often accompanied by physical changes- some may be topical some may be muscular, etc etc etc. Interesting, right? Her grandmother is English, her father is German, that kind of thing adds a bit of backstory, a bit of flavour. Show us a scene of her foriegn father cooking her a specialty dessert from his home that he misses.

Show him promising her to take her to visit one day; transition to his hand falling from her head covered in blood and she wakes up gasping from the nightmare of her father's death which is also why she became a hunter.

Do u see that? Do u see what i did there? i made her a Person for a minute in less than a sentence. because we have some Understanding of her, and that Understanding leads to Sympathy; to Interest. We like her a little more because we know a bit about her. this took ONE sentence. three four five panels. a fourth of a chapter. three panels inside her head every once in a while when MC does something in battle that reminds her of her own motivations. thats all it takes.

Cha Hae-In's biggest flaw is that she's not a Character. She's not a Person. She's a Love Interest. She's a Woman, not a woman. A lampshade. She is entirely there to provide the Male Main Character with An Option that's Not As Good As Him, but still Good Enough to be marriageable. And u wanna know what happens with that?

They get married. They have a baby. He gets a job in the police force. She becomes a stay-at-home-mom.

What. The. Fuck.

u wanna tell me in what world that's realistic?

putting aside the fact that after 27 YEARS of nothing but bloodshed sung jinwoo may not have a gentle bone in his body let alone an untraumatized brain-cell rattling around his skull, she's like three DECADES younger than him at this point. fine. suspend belief. we are Suspending Belief. Fine. okay. Move on.

Of COURSE not, Solo Leveling is a Male Power Fantasy made flesh. The strong dominate the weak? the weak are bullied and seen as useless? the one who is strong will be Seen and Listened to and Respected. Strength is the only thing that matters; Overwhelming Strength? One person can save the world. He's calm, cool, collected. He's ripped and strong but not thick because that's not how it Should Be (disregard the fact that this is how it Is). He's the perfect man. Girls fawn over him. Women are wooed by him with a glance.

Give me a single reason that isn't the Male Power Fantasy. And the worst part, to me? MOST MEN DONT EVEN WANT THAT. Not decent men. not well-rounded men. not interesting or creative or loving men. literally. to be The Strongest and Bear Every Responsibility and Save Everyone, NOBODY WANTS THAT.

anyway this post aint about sung jin-woo- luv u precious boi on the verge of a mental break (if we're being realistic but this is SL so we're not *shrugs*)- this post is about Cha Hae-In.

so we're gonna talk about another problem, as is briefly mentioned above. Every woman wants sung jin-woo. okay. from the very first moment they met, her first thought? 'he doesn't smell bad' to her incredibly delicate, sensitive S-Class nose. literally, 'he's not like other men'

let's also remember the moment he walked into his LITTLE SISTER'S school and every teen girl there immediately started giggling. okay first of all no. second of all NO. most teen girls arent actually that stupid and arent really interested in guys six years older than them unless they're getting groomed or paid.

Of those that are one of those groups, they dont usually giggle abt it in public. they'll giggle with their friends or after school. not IN FRONT OF THE GUY thats forking embarrassing for everyone. some will, yeah, but they'll be the really outspoken group that just does not care or are overconfident that nothing can hurt them bc they have daddy's money and no life experience.

his lil sis offering to set him up was just disturbing. no. minors, guys. MINORS. no. thats on the author not the characters. should sung jin-woo have been like, brainless sister mine, im twenty three and they're six. i dont want to get arrested. no. but again thats the author's fault imo.

okay anyway im sorry this post isnt coherent im not very coherent rn tbh. basically i just got really frustrated with how, from the start, cha-hae-in wasn't her own person. she was a reflection of a fantasy. we don't know almost ANYTHING about her. they have a few sparkly pink background moments. like two. maybe. she confesses and isn't rejected but isn't accepted either until the very very end when she confesses again in a different timeline. we dont know ANYTHING about her. WHY does the guy even like her? we dont know. He doesn't even seem to know. shes a cardboard cutout.

'you're my only friend' he once says, because she says it once in battle and I CALL BULLSHIT. what about your vice-prez? What about the b-rank healer from the beginning who healed your useless ass every time u got beat up and nearly died in a dungeon? (who was also attracted to him btw even as a hopeless wimpy dweeb. *massages my temples* and some girls (and guys) are into that!!! full respect to u! but we cant continue in that direction, that would be like saying Diversity has Value and a Place in the hearts of each person because each person's heart is Different and we cant have that, no no no)

speaking of, the way she stands is so heinously unrealistic it makes me cough up a hairball every time i see it.

this is her in battle. IN BATTLE. do u know who stands like that in battle? someone about to get their knees snapped. that entire outfit is completely useless and impractical for numerous reasons. i hate everything about this picture.

a lot of cha hae-in's problems reveal themselves repeatedly throughout the series in various characters, especially minor ones, so we won't completely fault her- again, all of this is on the author, who's neglected what could have been a genuinely interesting character- the only one of Korea's Ten S-Ranks to be a woman. instead she's literally flattened and massacred in the very beginning.

she's literally referred to by the MC by being 'still so pure.' i cannot express to you the number of problems i have with this sentiment. she's a ditz. she's incredibly intelligent. she's pure. she's willing to get her hands bloody. she's beautiful. she's strong. she's powerful. her stance doesn't reflect that. her body's not structurally possible. there's no confidence or personality trait indicative of her status. she's clever; she never talks except to bounce ff the MC or provide him a reason to be patronizingly amused by her cute purity.

i want. to scream.

she's not REAL. she's not a Person. 'its a story its not real life ofc she's not real Moss stop being picky,' u say. in a story, this IS actually a problem. your characters should be well rounded, even side characters and love interests, ESPECIALLY love interests. they MUST to be someone we see fondly as the audience because if we don't how can we ever believe the MC does? this is an issue with writing and story and it's the kind of thing that can halt sales, writers, and stories. if for no other reason than bothering the reader or breaking their immersion.

for an example i want to point to the enormous number of satosugu shippers. they're never stated in the text as being in love or together or even interested in each other as anything other than friends. even gege akutami never SAYS it. there's no outright source. but the MATERIAL. oh gosh. its so clear that they love each other- and you can take that any way you want, i prefer friendship because it makes it possible for me to sleep at night- but even as platonic soulmates, they ARE soulmates. not once do they ever say that to each other. but they say, 'it's okay, because you're here,' they say, 'he's my best friend' even years after their falling out, ' they're indulgent towards each other, they follow each other around, they play games and spend time together, they fight and care and MEAN something to each other. even though suguru's pov isn't much delved into while he's still suguru, we still KNOW. its not stated but it shows.

in contrast, we have NO idea why sung woojin likes cha hae-in. we don't know how. there was a scene at an amusement park. there was a Moment at the end. there was a confession. none of it connects or has a natural progression with times in the middle of them getting to know each other, be fond of each other as anything but just distant figures. You think people like that can survive in a marriage to each other??? marriage is hard freaking work that takes the MOST dedication and patience and vulnerability. there's not an ouce of indication they'd be truly willing to give that to each other as equal partners or lovers.

cha hae-in is also completely well behaved and perfect. there's nothing interesting about her. think about yu sangah from ORV- omniscient reader's viewpoint for those who haven't read it (read it, it'll change your life and youll never regret it). Yu Sangah is also a beautiful woman. A Beautiful woman. Beautifu las in Plot Device. She is Beautiful. She is intelligent and well behaved. rather mild and with a bland personality- except. EXCEPT. we see a little about her interests from the very start. (she's learning spanish) we learn about her situation. (she's getting hired again by the company even tho kim dokja isn't) she's scared by the beginning of the Scenarios, but she also survives them, and then she DOES something with that survival. she grows. she trains. she becomes strong. she sacrifices herself. we see her alive again and she shows such gentle affection towards our MC- kim dokja- and helps him stand up again and face the world. she is a Character. a Person. she's more nurturing and the good girl type but that's not all she is. she's compassionate, she's brave, she's scared but will do the thing that needs to be done for her loved once to survive.

in contrast, again, we know literally nothing about cha hae-in's interests or capabilities or family or the things she would do for her loved ones. we don't know about her savagery or lack therof. we dont know if she's disgusted but forces herself to fight anyway for her hypothetical deceased father. we dont know if she loves the rush but hates the blood. we dont know if she's got any kind of interesting characterists- something like a love of lemon candies like han sooyoung (also orv) or a huge fujoshi like Uriel (orv). there's just nothing. how can we have any atttachement to her like that?

look like i said i really do love solo leveling. it was such a fun series. and these problems are very much problems with the author, who i do admire for making this work and am not trying to hate on or discredit. its fun, it entertained me enough for me to binge it in a total of like four days- anime and manhwa- but these issues are real, and wouldn't have taken very much at all to address. all of my complaints can genuinely be solved with one or two extra chapters. i understand page space. i understand chapter limits. i understand differences in worldview.

but cha hae-in is honestly the accumulation of just about everything i hate about women in media. like. all in one place. its an all you can eat buffet of presentation issues.

anyway. again i really did like the story and i applaud the author. it was fun and im glad to have read it.

sung jin-woo still should've fucked woo jin-chul instead.

from the start, he’s quite oblivious to certain things, (social ques, signs of romantic interest, etc.)

but when he’s observant with someone, then that totally means you’re special to him. does he realize how much he pays attention to you? hmm.. maybe?

he’s going to be the first one that notices you’re hungry, even if you don’t realize it yourself. he’s quick to grab a snack and break it open to you

same thing with being thirsty— if he notices that your water bottle is empty, he’ll quickly find the nearest vending machine and buy a bottle.

temperature is also no problem. he can immediately tell whenever someone’s cold; but he usually helps you first

too hot? he’s slowly putting down the room’s temperature

too cold? his left palm starts emitting some sort of heat in your direction, hoping it creates some sort of aid

if your shoelaces are undone, and/or he notices that there’s a button undone on your shirt— he’ll fix it for you

will ask to take your pictures on dates, and he’ll also help you pick out the best photo (not that any photo of you is short of any beauty)

in short— people will notice that he’s actually a big simp for you; because of how observant he is with you specifically.

katsuki bakugou

— THE TSUNDERE SIMP

just because he’s simping for you doesn’t mean he’ll treat you any differently. bakugou will be bakugou, and you eventually learn how to adapt to that.

but even so, his simp habits slip out sometimes.

when he’s cooking, he’ll accidentally make too much to eat, and he’ll coincidentally put the extras in another box and hand it to you

he’s a good student, even with studies. but would he say he’s a good teacher? hm. probably not

but if he notices you need help, he’ll sigh, feining annoyance as he decides to tutor y’all, because those ‘idiots’ are hopeless

rolls his eyes when he sees food on your cheek, but he’ll grab a tissue and wipe it off for you— claiming how you’re so messy.

he’ll act like he hates hearing your ‘annoying ass singing’ but he’ll lean against the doorway and listen to you rock out to whatever song you’re singing to.

denki will call him a simp for looking after you, and bakugou will just yell at him to “SHUT UP” >:T

he secretly likes taking care of you. his words aren’t the softest thing in the world, but his actions make up to it.

as katsuki bakugou would call him; he is a nerd

he definitely meant that as an insult, but his input on detail makes it very useful in things like relationships

he remembers every detail of your quirk, your limits, potential secret moves.

it would’ve been stalker-ish, if it weren’t for the fact that deku does this out of admiration for his s/o

so if you so happen to collapse due to overusing your quirk— deku has a detailed plan on what to do. it’s almost scary.

he puts detail in a lot of things, anniversary gifts, birthday gifts, and so on.

deku’s also the type to plan things weeks before it actually happens. like.. planning out the perfect birthday gift

and with this, his memory is really good. so it’s very unlikely that he’ll just suddenly forget anniversaries and birthdays.

i hc deku as a bad cook, so he eats takeout food more than his homemade food

but he’s takes note of your allergies, your dislikes with food— and he finds himself mumbling small details to recall what you like

when you walk out in pretty/good outfits for dates

his face will break out into shades of red— suddenly rambling all the good details of your outfit, complimenting you while he’s at it

“y/n’s looks fantastic as always. i might die from their beauty”

if anyone calls him a simp, he’ll be really embarrassed about it. “me? a s-simp? is that a bad thing?”

— THE HYPEMAN SIMP

it’s so blantly obvious that he’s simping over someone, and everyone’s just kinda used to it at this point

and he has tendencies to go a little easy on you like.. what’s he gonna do when you get electricuted??

but that doesn’t mean he’s never serious— nah.

there are times where he’s just a little bashful just being in your presence

sneaking glances your way, as he silently fanboys about you in general.

when y’all weren’t together, the bakusquad was just tired of the constant romantic pining

it was really obvious that he was simping back then, and they’re not so sure as to how you didn’t say anything about it

so yeah!! it was a big relief when you got together with him. he never makes you feel terrible, because he’s always your #1 hypeman.

— THE HELPING SIMP (rip idk what to call this)

i didn’t really know what kinda name i went for this one but let me carry on

kiri upfront is very confident, and friendly. he never shows a mean side to anyone,

and there are rare cases of him being bashful

he’s kinda almost like a golden retriever? since he’s always nice and friendly to everyone

but then when you enter the room; he suddenly goes quiet, and he’s left alone with his rather loud thoughts about you

he didn’t really know how to properly approach you at first

but him being kiri, he’s still rather friendly to you (for now)

when he’s messing around, practically sharing one braincell with kami and sero

and then you suddenly walk in— he snaps out of his foolishness, and greet you with his very warm smile

“hey y/n!” he waves at you, and he hopes you don’t mention the teasing look on both kami and sero’s face

sometimes when he’s doing his close combat training, and he notices that he’s getting too close to you

he’ll be like “woah man, maybe we should move locations.” bc he doesn’t wanna hit you by accident ;;

kirishima prefers to not stand near you when his hair is all spiky. like he’s never conscious about it, until he’s around you

man poked sero with his hair before, and he doesn’t want to do that to you

kiri always looks at your hand, just to see if it’s occupied with something. his thoughts linger to what your hand might feel like

“their hand looks really.. soft. argh! i shouldn’t be thinking about these kind of things in public! im sorry y/n”

bakugou really only notices kirishima’s simping ways

bakugou always mentions the fact that kirishima goes really silent whenever you’re around—

and he’s secretly contemplating on having you around more so he can just shut up 。・°°・(＞_＜)・°°・。

moving aside all of that, kiri always carries your things.

you’ll beg him to give you at least one thing, and he’ll say no because it’s “not manly to let someone carry all of this.”

if you’re sad, he’s the first one to cheer you up— reassuring you that everything will be okay.

kiri’s just wants to be at your service at all times! it’s manly to help people, right?

— THE DISCREET SIMP

no one would be able to tell that he’s simping for someone

because unlike kaminari; he’s not like IM HITOSHI SHINSO AND IM ACTUALLY A SIMP

he’s a lot more discreet, and no one has really caught on, besides you and kaminari of course

he’s a lot less sarcastic with you, asking you about anything that’s happened instead of just being there

he prefers it to hear you talk. the way each word and syllable rolls off your tongue smoothly, and the way you use your hands to emphasize things

he’s amused.

oh and the way he looks at you? almost any normal person can sense the simp in him pop out (he’s so contained though)

he’s definitely the person that’ll get rid of any bug that’s terrifying you— even though he’d normally just leave it to them

he’ll do it, regardless if it’s the biggest fucking spider he’s ever seen, or the smallest spider

he’ll do it to make you feel safe.

he has these random spurs of compliments during the day

and they’re just so unexpected and out of the blue. hitoshi’s amused whenever he sees your reaction to his compliments

sneaky peek at my current wip (also the first wip i had in months) and some thots on it. i need to rant (complain) so bear with me

so far its going pretty good, it doesn’t look bad and thats cool bcs i defs wouldve given up if it did look bad at this point.

obviously this is some kind of realism style and its okay, its not the best, idc. what sucks is that i dont even want this style but its the only one i can do. like i wanna do cartoons and other artsy stuff with clear lines or just sketching. stuff i see online, but i CANNOT do it, no matter how hard i try. i will always do some realistic shadowing and then its over bcs the composition isnt right for me anymore. and i hate it bcs not only would my life be so much easier if i wouldnt fall into this kind of ‘realistic’ style, which is straight up a pain, id be so much more productive as well. but i’m some weird perfectionist dumbass (blame it on my virgo rising or whatever) so shading and tiny details it is.

speaking of details, i love that i accidentally built this wip on my sketch file, which was not nearly a good enough format and now the quality SUCKS ASS but thats nothing new to me so i’m just gonna accept that every detail i draw is like 5 pixels only and you can barely see them.

another thing i suck at is color theory. and when i started this project (yesterday) i was set on doing only b&w. literally 3 seconds in i used colors and i regretted it immediately bcs it looked good which meant i had to continue bcs we dont do half assed shit… so now i committed to color and i don’t understand color theory. like i can see it working but it doesn’t make sense and all i do is experiment bcs i see no sense or pattern (now i question my tiktok diagnosis of autism, neurodivergence and adhd)

at this point i have also given up at originality. im just copying my references picture, which is fine bcs i will never be able to draw a whole ass person, and i would defs not be satisfied if i wouldn’t add details. so now im stuck at drawing a whole military outfit and my reference picture is also only 9 pixels so i cant even make out what im drawing. i’m just guessing at this point.

okay for now the last part of my complaining… @blnk338 why did u choose such a unique mask for reaper? the way i struggled with the concept and its still not perfect but i dont wanna get hung up on it so i’m moving all over the place and going back to the mask every other minute… pretty sure the mask design alone took me 2 hours to put together so it made sense to my brain and then another 3 to design to my liking lmao

anyway this is a snippet of my current take on reaper from rwys, which so far is only the body but there will probs be eyes at some point, if i dont give up. first time in months, almost years of drawing something, so i guess big thanks to blink for giving me the motivation and a character to work on for fun. hopefully i can give an update on progress soon lol
