Thats what school, laws, jobs, and parents do If they realize it or not and them, the few who stick to their natural instincts are casted out as psychos or lunatics or strangers or just plain different. crazy, strange, weird, wild, these words are not bad or degrading.. if humans were let to live how we would naturaly it would be chaos and anarchy and the human race wouldnt probably last that long, but hey guess what, thats how its supposed to be!!!!! society and goverments are only created to have order and calmness, which is exactly the opposite of pure human nature. take away all your laws and morals and just see what you can do. if the goverment was one entity it would be thinking "hey, lets make some order here and calm these crazy fucks down so we can be constructive and fight other goverments in our own little so called self created "civilizied world" and get rid of all those damn insticts everyone has" well shit I'm to tired wright anymor tonight, so until next time, fuck you all”

In some way in pains me to see the way he felt about the world and the wrong doings of those around him. If you take a second to sit and read what he’s saying it’s like part of his authenticity comes out and then transitions back to switching to speak to the audience and how he wanted to be seen. I can’t always articulate in words the feelings I get when I think about him but it’s genuinely always painful. He was so hurt, and described his pain, but still shadowed his true feelings of distress for the audience. He cared about what other people thought about him even in his writings, and it’s so disheartening that he was that broken and plague by the environment he was in. I take time to consider how people cannot feel empathy for him and I understand it due to the situation at hand (obviously) however, considering how he was 17 years old writing this, he was just a kid. He was once how we all once were, innocent and compelled to continue on the paths of our lives the way that the nature of society intended us to. It really goes to show how fucked up he had it. This draws me back to the butterfly effect, was there one decision by himself, or inflicted upon him by others that brought him to where he ended his life? Empathy is a theme he seems to disregard in his journal entries, and quite frankly, all of media and the world deems him as un empathetic because of his writings. We didn’t know how he thought of himself in his head, we didn’t know the guilt, destruction, and true pain he went through that was genuine. I find this a reason why there is much more weight put onto him within his person. “It’s only a tragedy if you think it is, and then it’s only a tragedy in your own mind.” (7/29/98) I suppose this is how we all (who empathize with E&D) feel and can relate to.

Thinking too much about his pain these days and what he once was and how he became what he was. Being truthful and honest are two different things. Being truthful, factual, what he did was terrible. Being honest, feelings, I have so much pain in my heart for how he was feeling. There’s nothing anyone can do now (whom empathize)

for kate... i dont think anyone but toby and MAYBE clocky/nina would know what happened to her. she doesnt want to talk about it at all, and toby would only find out by connecting the dots of random stuff shes said.

i think toby is pretty open about what happened to him. he'd be very quick to make jokes or casually be like "yea i got the shit bullied out of me". so people are familiar, HOWEVER i dont think a lot of them really understand how bad it was for him bc hes so casual with it. i think tim and brian probably caught toby losing him mind, having nightmares, screaming and he'd be like "you dont get it you dont fucking know the shit that happened to me" etc etc. with clocky or kate or EJ, he'd be SLIGHTLY more vulnerable. tell them about lyra and connie, but he's just uncomfortable with that stuff

tim wouldnt really want to talk about his childhood or everything he lost either. i think he'd only bring it up with toby in the event that toby needed comfort, or something to ground/relate to (i.e hospital visits, schizophrenia, loss) OR if someone implies tim has it better than them. then he's like WHAT the fuck do you think you know about me. otherwise he rather not.

brian is pretty similar. he just doesnt wanna talk about it. brushes things off pretty easily, tries to joke about it, or he says something like "it sucked but im here now. gotta keep pushing, why dwell". . .

clockwork keeps that shit to her chest. the most she'd bring up is like "yea i grew up poor, dad was a nutcase, i dont wanna talk about my brother" or implying other people have it easier than she did (which is true 90% of the time. she had it rough). i think only toby and nina would get a better idea of what really happened to her, but she just doesnt like to think about it. itd be a similar case where they catch her having a panic attack or nightmare and she chokes something out .

nina spills everything she doesnt really care. she likes to talk and share and spill her guts, so everyone is pretty familiar with all her ex boyfriends, workaholic parents, getting bullied, whatever. shes a bit more hesitant to bring up certain things that SHE'S done (cheating, cyberstalking, self harm, etc) but she'll happily share times she was a victim to others

EJ would share about his family very freely, and i think if someone asked, he'd tell them about jenny. so i guess it just depends on who cares to ask ? toby, clocky, maybe tim/brian would. jeff and ben might ask like "hey why are you ugly now" and he would not tell them . cuz he needs whoever he tells to ask genuinely and treat it seriously

similar to nina, jeff just yaps and yaps and goes off about how hard he had it (completely warping the story and lying half the time). so he'll just bring it up to brag or compare or compete or prove a point, but its never done very.. vulnerably?

ben doesnt talk about any of it. most of the group knows, because his case (yk, 13 yr old boy kidnapped and murdered amongst several other young teens..) got really big and everyone kinda talked about it without him. he doesnt want pity or to think about it. he'd only bring it up with sally, i think, cuz he feels a bit more seen by her

sally would only tell jane and clocky. i genuinely cant see a reason she'd ever bring it up to anyone else, and those two are the only ones she'd trust (and mary but marys not that big in my au)

jane tells people pretty openly, because she was a victim of jeffs stalking. she tries to make her story more...inspirational? because after all her pain and loss, she still went to law school and all of that. or if someone tries to diminish her pain, she'd be like 'watch your mouth.' i think she'd tell nina and liu. for nina, it'd be like "you dont even care do you? you still love that man after everything? how can you look me in the eye, knowing all he's done, and tell me you idolize him?" and for liu it would be more about like. closure maybe? part of her resents liu even though it was NOT his fault whatsoever and he's also a victim, but shes mature enough to try and navigate the trauma WITH him despire her pain

for liu its kinda similar, but nothing is inspirational. he would tell people because for him, its how he connects to people. connecting on trauma, even if its not the healthiest way. . . if someone asks, he tells them. its kinda sad the way he talks about jeff though. 'i just miss pushing my little brother on the swing'

dina screams and screams at everyone about "YOU DONT KNOW WHAT IVE LOST" because she was held in such a idolized position in her cult. she hates lazari and she blames everyone else because she thinks they have something to do with the devil(zalgo) and thats why god doesnt want her anymore.

lazari would cry to EJ about her nightmares of her mom, but i dont think she'd talk about it with others. it just makes her sad. maybe she'd tell jeff cuz he'd be asking and then He'd belike oh. jeez. ok. LOL. that sucks.

lulu doesnt really remember what happens to her, but everyone has an idea. she mumbles about hazing, how cold the water is, how she doesnt wanna drink again, how the sorority girls are so mean, she just wants to go back to her dorm, whatever. but its just because shes so lost in her mind

ann is more like ... sassy . brags about her redroom business and whatnot, complains about the man who killed her, gets all sultry about kate saving her from her big bad killer, whatever. but she doesnt talk about her family or how she was a femcel neet.

I just think about how alone Luffy was 24/7, now okay this is the struggle of shounen protagonist on main where they are there for everyone but nobody is there for them right, its a trope i love ✨️the angst✨️

Like anything, Luffy is a little different he has his crew but if we look at his childhood

Who did he really have that was there for him first? It wasn't Shanks or Makino, Luffy barreled into their lives with the same okd enthusiasm, not Ace or Sabo, ans one die and the other left

Luffy was around 14 when Ace left. He had Dadan and the bandits, and I wont say that they didnt care for the kid but there was some distance between them. Luffy wasnt even living in the house, he was being his usual excited positive self that got people attached to him, but I doubt at that point he would go to anyone if things got tough

He's a teenager, Im sure some things bothered him and he would just not talk about it, wouldnt have anyone to talk about it after Ace left. Sure there is a snail but would he call? Or would he not want to bother Ace on his adventures? Would he think that bothering Ace or anyone with his problems be encroaching on peoples freedom and joy?

Luffy is very good at not speaking up about things that bother or hurt him when it matters (first thing that always comes to mind is the Katakuri fight, it made me recontexualize Luffy for sure)

So that thought process where Luffy will just smile and brush things off like they dont bother him if he has someone to protect

(water 7 fight is another can of worms, there is alot more going on there, complicated situation that needs a post all its own xd)

Anyway, that is why I think Law going out of his way to reach for Luffy first, and seeing him at his lowest is a great building block for their relationship to develop during the 2 year timeskip

Law knows what bothers Luffy, and maybe he cant read Luffy as well as say Zoro, but he knows the pain Luffy went through and can relate about the whole hiding painful feelings

I think they have a similar upbringing when it comes to that. Law taking his mannerisms from Cora, who often hid his pain for others and Luffy being much the same, he doesnt see a point in letting his pain that will pass hurt others that he cares about.

Currently fucked up considering that the central point around which 79's agonies are built—yq's promise to come back when he was stronger and save sj—is a child's fantasy. Because even if he had come back? What could he do? Sj was considered qjl's property, it was legally within his rights to do whatever he wanted with him. He had money, now, but qjl would never have given up sj. Being a cultivator wouldn't have put yqy above the law, and exerting his newly-acquired strength to save sj by force would have only earned him a warrant.

Yue Qi becoming a cultivator wasnt some magical cure to everything. There would still be work and planning necessary in order to get him out of there without huge consequnces. And the thing is, I think sqq understands this. I think he understood this when he burnt down the qiu estate, perhaps even long before that. He probably considered plans for it—what to do once Yue Qi came back. But even when he understood, he waited, because the important partof their promise wasnt who precisely did the saving, it was that Yue Qi would come back for him, that Yue Qi cared about him, even if he found a better life for himself

Yue Qingyuan, i think, doesnt understand this at all. I think he really believes if he was just a little faster, if hed just gotten there sooner, if he hadnt been trapped in the caves, if he hadnt messed everything up, then he would have been able to show up in time to whisk sj away. The sentiment of the promise isnt so important to him—of course he loves sj, he always has put him first in all things, it goes without saying bc every single thing he does and says is an "i love you"—to him, the part of the promise that sat most heavily was the responsibilty. Its not enough to come back without strength, its not enough just to care—he had to save sj, and he failed.

Had sqq known he'd tried, he'd surely have viewed his failure as an inevitability, and it wouldnt have bothered him at all. To yqy, his failure is crushing. It is the basis around which every pathetic facet of his personality will be built for the rest of his life.

PJO ≠ Greek Mythology

I can't believe I have to say this but I swear by the gods, the next time I see a pjo fan saying "the gods can be easily overthrow. This is canon on riondanverse and in greek mythology" or "yes. Mortals, specially demigods can win a fight against the olympians and easily defeat them. It happend on greek mythology. So it is plausible for Percy overthrow Zeus." I'm gonna riot.

You want a story where Percy takes down Olympus? Ok! There may be fics on ao3. You want a fic where Zeus is taken out of his crown and someone else takes his place? Fine. There may be fics on ao3 with this premise. I may hate this take, and I won't read it. But if you like, go ahead.

The riondanverse barely scratches the greek mythology correctly. The Gods are marely réplicas of the tales of Old. They dont match with their myths - since Riordan basically blanded one myth on the other, or created a few himself. - The PJO Gods are not a source for greek mythology, they dont properly represent their importance, much less their complexity, nuance and power.

So stop. Just stop spreading misinformation about Mythology - which u know nothing about if you are saying those things - or using it as a basis to your takes.

The Gods, the Olympian Counsil cannot be "easily" overthrow in any possible way. Using the idea "Zeus did that with Khronos so it is easy" is literally absurd. Zeus is a God. He has always been a God. He was born a God.

Only a God can fight another one and win. And a mortal - including demigods - can only harm a God with divine help - which usually is Athena's helping them. - No God can overthrow Zeus powerwise, let alone a mere mortal (Im looking at you, Epic fans). He is the King of Gods for a reason. That is a fact in greek mythology.

But if you want a good idea of "dethrone Zeus" trope acordding to Hesiod, there was a prophecy one of Zeus children would be the one to do it. When Zeus learned about it, he pushed a Khronos and devoured one his pregnant wives, Métis. Athena was still born from his head though.

Do you know what he did to Athena? Nothing. She is his favorite kid. He kept doing it? Also no. He never did that again. And all his god children were welcome in Olympus. Even Dionysus - who was born a mortal and ascended. Even Heracles, who became a minor god.

+ the "overthrown" of Zeus wouldnt happen. Zeus is - according to greek mythology - the fairest of the kings. I dont care if you don't like Zeus because for your modernized view on ancient tales "he is evil". He is a good king and that is a fact in Greek Mythology. You like it or not. He is not a tyrant. And he is not considered a Tyrant in mythology either. Another reason for one of his wives be Themis - Justice.

The Gods are literally a representantion of the Cosmos and natural law. They are not "beings with too much power". Hades is the underworld. Poseidon is the nature. Zeus is the heavens. More than that, Zeus is the one who brought harmony to the universe - the oikos. Without him, everything we know about crumbles.

And Zeus children are the parts of human society. The pillars of "civilization". Apollo is art and healing. Hermes is communications and commerce. Athena is strategy and warfare. Hephaestus is technology. Ares is conflict/war and bloodthirsty. And there you go.

All the Gods represent the "good" and "bad" aspects of their domains. + They also reflect the human nature. That is why they are "flawed". That is why they are way more complex in the myths. Why they make good and bad decisions. Why they sometimes are kinder, why sometimes they are crueler.

Overthrow the Olympians mythwise? Would be the end of the life as we know of. The end of civilization. If there would be human life by the end of it.

Halfway through the night of those chuckles fumbling every woman in sight, a particularly cute pop song comes on and Law tells Bepo "do you want to dance?"

Law: Of course not, i'm staying where i am, i have a perfect view of the dance floor from here, you can go (Law did plan this when they came in and he saw the club layout)

Bepo is a bit disappointed but he goes and when he turns around from the edge of the dance floor and meets eyes with Law across the room, his heart skips a beat- being watched by Captain feels like some type of no-contact play. Bepo is tense for awhile until he finally relaxes and has fun (Law smiles noticing Bepo getting used to him staring ♥)

The simp sees Bepo right away and of course she would be attracted to his size (its the first thing you see, who can blame her) and would come up and ask his name to which Bepo would answer but hed be a bit thrown off like why are you talking to me i dont care

Law does not get his ass up, he just watches Bepo be awkward, he wont rescue him even if Bepo very obviously turns to look at him (and the girl follows his gaze) lol bepo looks like a kid searching for their parent in a scary situation except no thats his dom and a husband

bepo fumbles her spectacularly showing his disinterest/being rude lol, Law really wouldnt want to rescue him.

pt 2 of mastermind theories

srry this took so long to come out i got distracted and forgot

Spoilers ahead and this post it very long

Fizz and ver bc their section is gonna be short. Fizz's face when he saw blitz about to die and texting ozz and begging him to do something is just so different from what his reaction would be a few episodes ago. He wouldnt have cared and mightve been even happy that this was happening to blitz. Im just glad they fixed things. Ozz too, he actively tried to help and so did Queen Bee. Queen bee saw how much blitz and loona care and love each other. And she wanted to help. Ozz tried to help bc blitz helped fizz when he couldnt. And then ver. Even though blitz fucked her over she was still worried for him. The split second we see her face change is just perfect. Like she still feels bad and knows what he's gone through before. So its nice to see that they've repaired things at least to this point even if things will never be fully repaired.

Moxxie, millie, and loona. first i would love seeing a short where millie's family was so worried for millie and at least a little bit for moxxie. Cause blitz's execution was broadcasted everywhere so they would've seen it and been worried. I could even see them going to whatever ring IMP is on just to check on them. And moxxie would totally cry bc he doesnt have any blood related family and so in laws are the closest he has other than IMP. Loona grabbing the photo from the drawer *CRY* and her calling blitz her dad so much this episode too *CRY*. like, they were all so terribly worried for blitz when he came out of those doors. *CRY* CRYING ALL AROUND.

Now the deadly sins the last part of these posts on episode 11 for now probably. Cartoon Universe already covered them so go check out cartoon Universe. Also if you're a fan of my arcane posts they covered arcane as well. I kinda just gonna cover satan and mammon bc i cover bee and ozz it the previous section. The sins of sloth and envy are also cool but i dont have anything to say on them. Cartoon Universe did go a little deeper on them than just what we know so far. Mammon, im not surprised that mammon was against helping blitz. First bc ozz and bee were already helping him and mammon is very much against ozz bc of fizz. Bee is also against him and allies with ozz so he def against her. Then there's the fact he sees imps as profitable. If they have talent convince them to join him and work for him. If they dont have talent ads galore so that they buy his merch he makes. So mammon sucks even more, fun. Then Satan. Pretty sure that moxxie, millie and loona are only alive because he thinks moxxie and millie can change and that then they'll discipline loona. Why would they discipline loona in his eyes? Based on the precautions they take with her and how we see hellhounds treated in other episodes - hellhounds are below imps and so his train of thought is likely like 'oh, she's a hellhound so she's owned by the imps. The imps are my creations so they'll listen to what i say and if she doesn't they'll discipline her cause she's below them.' Overall thought on satan - he sucks and is just gonna cause trouble.

i have some thoughts after the first ep of downfall

i really like that they have the deities disguised as human trying to shut down aeor and the beginning with their possible creation and light vs darkness was incredible

but as much as i think the binary message was a cool little touch to make it easier to figure out which gods they are, i kinda wish they didn't do that

for people that dont know exandrias pantheon, seeing those words kind of dont mean anything to them because they wouldnt know what each god is a deity of

but at the same time for critters who know the lore it became very easy to figure out who is whom by the hints the cast and brennan were throwing around without them saying like "oh hi I'm [blank] god"

the raven queen was the easiest solely because we've had more time with her in c1 and other campaigns too since death is kind of inevitable

dawnfather was a slow build and then very much you couldnt ignore that it was him once nick said "it's not dark" like the little mf that pelor is /pos

melora was also fun to figure out because animals are her thing and then she got the most upset when erathis didnt show up like the yearning little lesbian that she is

arch heart was also a slow build up to figure out, they needed to be rigid and play their part so the others could get on board, they couldnt stop themselves of visiting the city of creation, they see beauty everywhere, they're just as much of a little shit as i imagined they would be also /pos

law bearer's envoy (champion?) was easy to figure out because of meloras reaction and also for The Emissary's lines about helping civilization, he was sent to be their salvation, maybe she knows it's inevitable for the city to fall and wants to preserve as much as she can (he might be the one to send out the blue bubbles who knows)

and then we have the everlight, at first i thought ashley was playing ioun, the husband talked about her being a teacher but then you have these subtleties in their lines - asmodeus talking about her not having followers, the dawnfather's care for his sister, her compassion - and everything made sense, even her light being name Luz is just Light translated from some romance languages

then we have the npcs: ioun was easy enough to figure out from the get go, brennan was also very explicit about who she is, and the betrayers were very fun to figure out, we don't have all the knowledge about them all but asmodeus, the father of lies, choosing to be Father Milo and a cleric of the Dawnfather just to fuck with him is an incredible choice, Torog being the torturer but also the most tortured and fucked up looking is such beautiful imagery, and the other two we don't have that much but i assume the halfling is Lolth, since she enjoys the darkest corners and climbing things, while the other one might be Tiamat, just cause it makes sense for me that she would be a heavy hitter

this is all to say that brennan and the cast did a wonderful job in this first ep with the imagery and subtle (and not so subtle) references to each character in a way that fans can figure out who is each person and newcomers can learn their personalities slowly and figure out the dynamics with the time we get to see

because we need to remember, this is bells hells watching this, and many of them have no knowledge about the gods beside a few that they've met their champions, fcg followed the changebringer, orym, fearne and dorian have met the wildmother and the spider queen, laudna has some connection to the matron and they now met a champion and a follower of asmodeus, both of which they havent asked much about the prince of hell

-basic stuff: 27 (<-when he meets lu ten), nonbender (<-doesnt need bending lol)

-finest jewelry maker in the fire nation. he also does metal art like embossing and figures and shit. he collaborates closely with famous potters and tailors in the FN to make stuff for the royal family and their special occasions (like holiday and celebration banquet jewelry and bedazzled outfits and shit). he also works with fire nation theaters, to help with their costumes for their more pricey productions. he's made MANY crowns for the royal family as well.

-oldest of 3 brothers. the business he owns was passed down in the family thru generations. jiro inherited (usurped?) it when he was 23, after he beat his father to death for smacking their mother around. their mother lives with the middle brother and his family on one of the outer FN islands. the youngest is estranged and started his own (less successful) business out of jealousy towards jiro.

-neutral on the war in the same way june the bounty hunter is- money is money to him. and when I say neutral I mean neutral. he obviously doesn't get clients or customers from other nations due to the war but if he did then he'd be more than happy to serve them. but his business still wouldn't be affected no matter the outcome of the war because even without international clients his wallet is thick, so he doesn't really care what the outcome ends up being. he believes a true businessman goes wherever the wind takes him and is good at adapting. not a "stuck in his ways" type of guy. the royal family is his top priority client obviously, but it's simply because they pay the most for the finest pieces. it's not out of any kind of loyalty or patriotism.

-jiro likes material things and having money, but he's genuinely super passionate about his craft and the arts in general. he does a lot of other crimes (<- lol) but counterfeiting isn't one of them. all his products and art are genuine, handcrafted, made to detail. he's probably kinda disgusted by the idea of counterfeit and scamming because he genuinely looks forward to the reaction of his clients when they receive what they paid for. he does the act of service, he gets the praise and the money, he's a happy camper.

-despite all of the above, his demeanor is the definition of greasy and sleazy- but he also can be genuinely suave when he wants. he'll charm the pants off your granny. but not sleazy in the same way zhao is, though (cus zhao is no real charmer lol). cus zhao is high in the navy so he's Very stuck up, and he's also an otl (<-???) ass-kisser. he's a slimy douchebag, but still one that adamantly adheres to and enforces fire nation law. he's a guy that has goals and will do anything to get there. meanwhile jiro, you look at him and you know he does criminal shit. he just gives the danger vibe, and he flaunts it with confidence. and you must reach at least level 4 friend to unlock the gentlemanly, white-knight-syndrome side of jiro.

-what jiro DOES do for criminal activity is that as he has most of all the fire nation nobility and high court (along with the Literal royal family) in his pocket. he has eyes and ears in a LOTTTT of people's business. sensitive business. criminal business. blackmail on top of blackmail. he's only loyal to people he personally gives a shit about, and whatever the people he cares about gives a shit about. he's got the love in his heart to make those extensions because he really is thoughtful in nature. but anything outside of that is not his problem so yes he WILL sell your ass out. the most dependable man in the world if he loves you, but the most venomous, backstabbing scorpion-viper if he doesn't care about you.

-and he doesn't hire goons- the business and its dealings are done all by him, and him alone. so if you air out his business or try to fuck with him, he will show up in your house alone and kill you in the next 24 hours i PROMISE you. preferred form of doing so is beating to death. and them is workers arms baby so you aren't getting out of it alive!!! jiro isn't very tall but he is strong as FUCK. and because of the fact that he knows everybody's dirty laundry he gets away with all of it lol. jiro is not afraid of jackkkkk SHIT (<- which is why he's very dependable if he loves you. he's unflinching and dedicated)

-as for him and lu ten: he and lu ten met by chance (they quite literally ran into each other in the palace and toppled over each other), and ended up being twin flames. lu ten's like the orange cat to jiro's black cat. they balanced each other out and jiro was exactly what lu ten needed at the perfect time. their first date or whatever (Doing An Activity Together) was having lunch and tea together in the palace gardens, and it kinda spurred from there. they spent time together like an old retired couple basically lol??? lunches, dinners, long walks from evening to night, doing their tasks in silence but they're next to each other so it's fun (<-parallel play for adults), sitting on benches for hours and just talking and bird watching. two people with tough jobs, so they sometimes forget to stop and smell the roses, but they reserve time for each other so they can stop and smell the roses together.

-it isn't ALWAYS them acting like a retired old couple though cus like I said jiro is a sleaze bag and a flirt. azula was the only one that really noticed and she was very disgusted by them and would constantly swear lu ten has a thing for losers. but then again she'd claim any person lu ten messes with to be a gross loser so there's that

-as soon as they got close to tension hitting a boiling point the siege situation rolled around (<-AVERAGE COCKBLOCKER IROH MOMENT) and lu ten obviously didn't come back. and jiro never let go of it because of all the "what ifs" and how there was something there that was mutual but it never became official or was put into words. so there's more regret rather than bitterness about lu ten's absence in jiro's life. like "right person, wrong time" trope??? but this is the dai li au so they'll be fine eventually lol

-after lu ten died and ozai took over, jiro was silently cut off from the royal family. ozai didn't directly order that or anything but he didn't commission or hire jiro for anything the way azulon always did. jiro also quietly removed himself from the whole political ring and just focused on his work. didn't have a reason to stop and smell the roses anymore, but the work never quits and the world didn't stop turning

-once azula got old enough to be let loose into the playing field, she hired jiro under the table due to her knowing how close he'd been with lu ten (which makes him someone she felt that she could trust), and he got put back into the political game (<- to everyone elses dismay). since her first rodeo was outside of the fire nation, he became her eyes and ears back home.

-and he wasn't forced by her or intimidated by her- he was brought back to life by finally having a real reason to get back in action again. at first, azula being the kid lu ten personally took care of for the first little portion of her life (<-which is a secret jiro knows from lu ten. azula doesn't know about that, and it's gonna stay that way. it's more to be a driving force for jiro. cus jiro has a "whats yours is mine" mindset when he loves someone. so what lu ten loved, jiro also loves. so whatever azula wants from jiro, jiro will provide it to her.) was what made being her guy so easy, but he ends up taking a genuinely liking to the crazy kid. he feels like they get along pretty well cus they're like-minded when it comes to their methods

I think your point of Deku feeling like a lesser All Might is the result of the story not wanting to commit to any too radical change, only saying "people will try harder and do better" - hence Deku at best is an imitation of All Might, the symbol which for all the critisicm, basically got rehabiliitated.

Thats why, besides all the build up and weirdo fans that whiteknight the LOV too much, there was need for "redemption" - because this would make Deku look different, as someone who brought something truely new, something that could surpass even All Might - saving not only the civilians, the status qou - but also the villians, fixing society and not just letting it go on forever.

Back when the series was still running i was honestly thinking we were building towards the idea that the entire series was gonna be the origin story of the MHA universe's justice league.

That seemed the logical solution to a lot of the current system's flaws.

The pro hero system was an imperfect solution to a real, complicated problem(namely how to have a running society in a world where everyone has superpowers), and the series was ultimately about exploring those problems, and by extension the obvious flaw of having a superman figure to rely upon to effectively patch up it's shortcomings.

But the fact is, putting every, single problem upon the back of one man, no matter how strong and powerfull didnt work, and in large part was the reason why everyone was so complacant.

For all the infighting and competion for the rankings, the reality was that the entire system was built upon the expecation that all might would always be there, and when he wasnt, the much more flawed upper rankers failed to uphold the system, and in endeavor's case, did more to hurt the public's faith in the system than anyone else.

The obvious solution, and the one i expected the series to head towards, was to effectively do away with the competition element that the rankings represented, and solve the problem through how the Superheroes of the DCAU effectively solved superpowered crime once and for all.

centralize the entire japanese hero system into one, overarching organization that was for all intents and purposes a centralized superhero team with the entire group working together for the good of the nation, where people would be sent where they were needed, when they were needed, and because this would allow more control, heroes would both be more effective, but also have way more "time to kill" due to not constantly competing to stay relevant, and thus being able to devote more of their lives to do silly little things like take better care of their families.

That was where i thought the series was heading, and how izuku was going to surpass all might, by being the lynchpin for this new system.

obviously it wouldnt have solved all the problems, but i think few people would argue this kind of ending would have been a worse outcome than what we got.

Regarding the idea that the series would somehow "fix" society forever though, it's something i actually disagree with most of the others who hated the ending.

One of the things that made MHA special, is that unlike One Piece, that far too often had endings that were way too happy, MHA made no bones about the fact that there were no perfect fixes. the world was complicated, people were and would forever be flawed, and there was never going to be any one size fits all solution that would make everything better.

Im glad the ending did not backtrack on that point... But the problem is the fact that it offered NO solutions or improvements as a whole, with Uraraka and Shoji's work being the only real things that seems to have changed the system beyond everyone "Working harder".

also, there is one other point that the series screwed up on, which is how it handled the way it presented the virtues of what "The status quo" actually means.

MHA's entire first two thirds are about building up to a societal collapse, where law and order break down, where to hero system fails.

One of the reasons why the LOV are the villains of the piece, and what separates them from the heroes, is their ability to completely dissasociate the fact that they just set into motion events that killed hundreds of thousands of people, while discussing their hopes and dreams, as gigantomachia is killings thousands up people that they are literarily trampling underfoot.

One of the reasons Dabi is such an amazingly good villain is that he is the only leaguer who just throws any and all justifications for the greater good to the wind when Twice dies, and he commits himself fully to his actual goal, of hurting his dad, and ripping their society to pieces.

and he does just that in spectacular manner, as using his understanding of how society works, he shifts all blame unto him in the eyes of the public.

chapter 290 is probably MHA's best chapter, and definitly it's best villain chapter as Dabi in one move rips his dad's life and Japan's society to pieces.

But the manga does not in any way try to present him in a positive or even neutral light.

After all, his amazingly devastating revenge is juxtaposed with images of what ripping down the "Status Quo" actually looks like.

Shattered lives.

destroyed children.

lives on a grand scale snuffed out.

When Shigaraki gives his famous villain and heroes speech, what we are actually shown when he describes "Trash that needs to be coddled" we are shown what that actually means. Innocent children, who's lives have just been ruined, many of them who will now have to live with lifelong trauma.

and after all is said and done, what was the actual result of "Tearing down the status quo"?

Fear, hatred, mistrust, and murder. might makes right.

THIS is what always happens when law and order breaks down, and anarchy actually gets to reign.

it has happened countless times throughouth history, be it Japan's Sengoku Jidai, China's warring states periods, the french revolution, the russian revolution, the haiti revolution, the splitting of Alexander's empire, the norwegian civil war period, the era of the princes in ethiophia, the fall of the western roman empire, The Bronze age collapse, and so, so many others.

This is what ALWAYS happens when the "Status Quo" is violently torn down. And MHA for all it's faults does a pretty good job showcasing it.

No the problem is two fold, in how it actually showcases it in a grander context.

It lacks a figure that really calls the villains out on their hypocisy and the aftermath of what their actions have actually lead to.

2. We arent given a real estimate of just how BRUTAL their actions actually were.

In One piece chapter 543, the main protagonist of the series, Monkey D. Luffy is called out by Hannyabal that his actions in that arc, are, WRONG.

That the prison of Impel Down, that luffy and his gathered band are breaking out of exists to keep the people of the world safe, and to let innocent people live their lives in a "Status Quo" of peace and order, withouth having to fear for their lives from the "Golden age of piracy".

Now the One Piece universe has the caveat that the World Government is so objectively evil, that despite Hannyabal's good intentions here, you could make a solid case that every single one of the pirates in impel down is an objectively lesser evil than the WG.

However, that is not the argument luffy makes, because he is NOT a hero.

Luffy does not CARE about a debate in right and wrong. While he has his own morals, if the time comes that he has to choose between what he wants, or what others considers good, luffy does not care to debate such issues with them. because he is not a hero. he is a pirate, and he does as he will.

The reason why this scene works so well, is to illustrate the fact that luffy, despite doing a lot of good through the series, is NOT a Hero.

it's why at the end of this chapter, luffy is put face to face with his main rival, the likely final villain of the series blackbeard.

This is not the story about the rivalry between a good hero and an evil villain. It's the story about two men with the same goals and willingness to step over others that they dont like to reach that goal.

this entire scene and what it represents is all about laying this bare, and to prepare to lead into the fact that luffy's main motivation through most of one piece second half is to assassinate his political rivals.

While they might be objectively evil people, and luffy gets more, and better moral motivation to kill both of them, Luffy's actual motivation to kill kaido and big mom are built upon pure ambition and nothing more.

which is the point about the aforementioned scene in Impel down.

unlike MHA, One piece is NOT a story about good versus evil. it's main themes are freedom, for both good and ill.

MHA however, IS a story about good and evil, and as such is REALLY needed a figure like Hannyabal during the final arc, and objectively good person who called the league as a whole out on all their bullshit.

Because withouth it, it can, as proven by all the people who were confused about the league not getting any redemption, think that MHA is saying the league's actions can, in some way justify their actions, when the entire point of the latter half of the manga is to illustrate just how much it VERY MUCH CANNOT.

The destruction and death is there... but this was really a point where the story would have benefited from being blunt as a sledgehammer about just how evil the villains actually were.

which leads me to point two.

Hunter X Hunter has a villain group that also tries to rip down society and conquer the world in the form of a faction known as the chimera ants.

Their leader Meruem is frankly speaking one of the best shonen villains ever, and a REALLY well developed character, where over the course of one arc he becomes a far better and more nuanced person... though he never stops being an actual villain who's death was an objective good for the world.

He does HORRIFIC shit and is ultimately responsible for a lot of the horrible stuff his faction does... and yet his actual goals and death count is probably not THAT different than Shigaraki.

Both of them wanted to destroy the current world order, and both of them were stopped before their rampages could expand beyond one single country.

If this is the case, then why is Shigaraki fans far more upset that he was ultimately killed, than Meruem fans are that he was?

Well the fact shigaraki had a much more sympathetic backstory helps, i would argue there is a much, much bigger reason. Namely the fact that HXH focuses FAR more on the actual destruction and attrocities that Meruem's little takeover actual caused... but it also gave us clear, hard numbers, which makes it WAY clearer that despite everything, Meruem was a TRUE monster.

During the Ant's invasion they killed about half a million people, 478 594 of which were civilians, and 12 905 who were actual soldiers.

Those numbers are about comparible to what shigaraki probably killed, give or take. half of the heroes of a country with tens of thousands of them were killed, while law and order dissapeared, and gigantomachia smashed his way through a dozen cities in one of the most densly places on the earth.

I think MHA would probably have silenced a LOT of critisim for killing of Shigaraki and the League, if they had actually shown these numbers, and given us an exact number of just how many innocent people the league butchered or were responsible for dying in their war against Hero society.

9. What are their thoughts on Mythal/Flemeth?

I think that deep down, despite her upbringing and Malcolm's efforts, Aniera still came away from her childhood harbouring a deep fear of magic. Not that she's incapable of appreciating it, and she certainly would never see mages as sub-human or that it's a curse, or anything like that. she isn't in danger of "switching sides" or anything like that but i think it's there nonetheless. it's a world that wasn't properly hers to know or understand, and thats where some of the anxiety comes from. the rest? that's from what it can do to herself and her loved ones, and how unprepared she might be when the laws of her reality begin to bend.

So when she meets Flemeth for the first time, yes, she is completely terrified but she also needs to be the one to face her. Carver's just died, and even though the grief hasn't fully set in (in some ways, she hasn't even processed that it happened at all) she still needs to be the one protect the others, and if there's one thing Malcolm instilled within her it's "do whatever you can to save them. sacrifice yourself if you have to." aniera doesn't know what flemeth is or the extent of what she's capable of, but she'd shake hands with any devil just to ensure her family getting somewhere safely. whatever follows, she'll just have to live with it. it's what she was trained for.

Overall I'd say she tries not to think about Flemeth. She thinks the less she knows of her, the better, because she's afraid of what she'll find and what that'll imply. maybe one day she finds out she's a god, i wouldnt know how, but I also know she wouldn't feel very secure about knowing she owes her life to that. it's weird, it makes her anxious, and she hopes she never has to see her again

12. Who is Hawke closest to in their group?

Unsurprisingly, it's Varric. kind of the lame and obvious answer, but she doesn't build friendships on her own and he was ALWAYS there. just never went away. by proxy he learned a lot about her, and since he's able to help her it led to her actually beginning to trust him with things like connections and business - which are sort of things she needs in kirkwall, but has no skill in practice and would totally fuck it all up on her own; which she wouldn't care about, but those are things Varric does, and ultimately that keeps her taken care of.

at some point that develops into a sort of trust and loyalty. she never wanted Varric around, nor his friendship, and yet it existed. now she wouldn't know what to do about it if it were to go away. a really big part of her would be lost without his counsel

Other big contenders are Fenris and Aveline. She of course romanced Fenris, they have a lot in common (emotionally) and she's never felt more comfortable in her life than the times she spent rotting next to him. With Aveline, Aniera really responded well to her sort of tough-love approach. Pretty much the only one she willingly hung out with (at first)

YES! and it was really a disaster on all fronts. i know its a disaster for all hawkes, but i feel like i can claim i got one of the more messier interpretations

when they met, aniera was the one who put Wesley out of his misery. she thought she was doing aveline a kindness, of course, because doing nasty shit for the betterment of others is something so deeply ingrained in her but this led to a lot of tension in their relationship that still lasts even know. Aveline isn't the kind of woman who would've ever appreciated that, Aniera should've known but she's not normal so she didn't.

there's the petty remark once in awhile, which sometimes leads to something bigger but it usually doesnt. aniera has to pretend like she isn't crumbling under her guilt, and aveline thanks and curses that because it's one of the things about her that drives her fucking crazy. she's always genuine but she cant be real, and it's sort of like trying to fight with a child which is so pathetic of aniera but also aveline knows she cant help it, because shes also met her mother

anyway so. even with all that in mind about their relationship, aveline has still imprinted on aniera. by accident, she also kind of needs her. emotionally. she's the maker's favorite chewtoy. when she finds herself getting childish and desperate, who else is better to go to than aniera? so she chooses her as a confidante for all of this

but from ANIERA'S pov she thinks she's being punished, and she absolutely treats the situation as if aveline is going to DIE. it's so dire. she can't fuck this up. even if it's absolutely crazy that aveline chose her to help (shes a mega-virgin who at best managed to fuck fenris ONCE before he fucked off and now things are very weird so needless to say she's not good at this either) it's kind of also her way of making it up to her about wesley? she cant really say no to doing this. so when she watches her try to interact with donnic she watches aveline's fuck-ups as if they're her own. maker shes bad at this i never shouldve let this happen ive ruined it all again

somehow though. somehow. it ends up okay actually! terrible experience though. easily in the top 5 worst things that ever happened to her

39. How does Hawke react to the explosion of the Chantry? How do they feel about Anders's actions and do they kill him or let him live?

one thing that is extremely, EXTREMELY important to the aniera and anders dynamic is that her relationship with him is irrecoverably linked and woven into the relationship she had with her father. he's soft, tragic, duty-bound, self-sacrificing and manipulative, and so she found anders' presence comfortable in its familiarity. this isn't wholly true, but i like to think that anders is almost entirely why she continues to put up with living in kirkwall. she hates it there, nothing about that horrid city is appealing to her but her beloved sister is trapped in the damn gallows! so what if anders promised her that he could protect bethany, and maybe one day help her free? it keeps aniera close to him, and it's through that closeness he ends up being there a lot of the time (especially for the most vulnerable moments) and thus develops a weird transactional - yet sentimental - relationship.

when anders started asking her to do things without explaining why, sparing her of the gory details... that was nothing new to her. in a way she loves that, she doesnt have to make any of the decisions anymore she just has to finish a task. it enabled that sad part of her, but what she imagined... it wasn't... that... she didn't have a good feeling but her father taught her to ignore those instincts, and maybe she felt like anders would protect her from it. but he didnt. that's on her, really, and she had to face that as she did her other failures

she felt horrible to put it lightly. horrified, guilty, and once again the onus was on her to take action when she didn't know what she was supposed to do or how to do it. it's funny too, because if anders had asked her to put him out of misery years ago, she would've actually done it. she did it to wesley, she did it to bartrand, she did it to her father, and to many more. but when it came down to it, aniera couldn't do it to anders. all the blood and guilt must have caught up to her. she feels so deeply ashamed about letting him live

in the game, if you let anders live he shows up again before the game ends. in my canon this conversation never happens. i like to think he secretly aids her at some point during the final battles, trying to do some good towards her without her knowing. she does catch him and stares at him for a moment, but then she turns. and she never looks back

Blake paused for a moment as she watched the police escort a girl that couldnt be much more than a couple years younger than her to the same holding cell she was in. And while she didnt mind the company, it was a bit surprising to see someone else get brought in only a mere hour after she was. Still, the longer she watched the girl, the more curious she became as to why she was brought in in the first place. 

The office shoved the girl in and shut the door. “Stay here while we do your paperwork.” 

“I told you it wasnt my fault!” the girl yelled as she gripped the bars of the holding cell. “I was framed!” 

Blake sighed and leaned against the wall. “Dont waste your breath, they’re not going to listen to you.” 

“I know, but its about the principle of the matter.” 

“You say that like it matters.” 

“It does. Especially when a few laws arent as just as they could be.” 

Blake nodded and watched as the girl made her way to the other side of the cell and sat down. As much as she had wanted to ignore the girl, something about her just wouldnt let her look away. “What’s your name?”

“Ruby,” Ruby answered. “And yours?” 

“Blake.” Blake moved a little closer. “What exactly did you do? You dont seem like someone who’d break the law.” 

“Why do you care?” 

“Because everyone’s got a story. And I want to hear yours.” 

Ruby let out a sigh and pulled her knees to her chest. “I was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Sorta. I was told Roman Torchwick was going to be at the docks and I figured it’d be the best way to get my huntress license reinstated. But when I got there, Roman wasnt and I was found with the docks in a mess and marks that could’ve only been made with a scythe.” 

“Sounds like someone wants you out of the way.” 

“Wouldnt surprise me with the target I put on my back. What about you?” 

“I was… protesting,” Blake lied as she pulled her sleeve down to hide the little bit of the White Fang tattoo that showed on her arm. A frown started to cross her lips for a moment as she thought back what she had done the night before, her fingers shook a bit as she clutched her sleeve. “Things got… violent. Okay this is your HUGE spoiler warning because I have so many thoughts and my love for this show knows no bounds but I don't wanna take away from the magic of living it through on your own so go watch it!!!

So, currently writing this at midnight just after 2/9/2023 which was Tinn and Charn's wedding day!!!!!!! These two goofs have come so far and yeah, couldn't be happier for them 🫶

I took a pause in the middle of the episode to collate my thoughts and here was the list I made about the first half:

1. the mma boxing unconventional fight between tinn and nawin, it was giving 'youtube boxing: worst bits!' but it made me laugh so its fine 😭

2. thee having no one truly there for him except tan - his fellow bodyguards didn't even back him, meaning ever since he started working for tan's family he truly has known no one who cares and loves him deeply which 🥹😭 how did he manage to stay so kind through all that

3. thattep that psychopath.

4. nawin being the best character ever

5. how similar nawin and charn are (one just has a few dozen more braincells than the other

6. how charn planned that entire plot knowing the risks not only to his physical self but knowing he could be risking his entire career but he's ready to do that as we saw when thattep called him to prison 🤧👏

7. the one guy that said you dropped the soap in the prison showers 🥲

8. tan using his annoyingness to his advantage and celebrating being banned from an airline - the most tan thing to do tbh

9. thee and tinn link up AGAIN!!!

10. the wedding talk made me emosh.. the entire proposal (lets ignore the singing but even that wouldnt wipe the huge grin off my face as i was watching it) i love the storyline of the song though (hats off to that tumblr user who explained the story behind the song, this was perfect

11. emotional during the seeking of blessings from charn's mum

12. grandma is a gem 💯

13. maya and rose doing so much to help the people they love - they truly are the MVPs

14. tongkhao's dream living on 🥹 all she wanted on Tinn's birthday was for him to be happy and start a family with someone he loves, and he did it 🥹😭🤧

Also, completely ignore the fact that I skimmed over the whole exposing scene because it was decent but I knew, I just knew Charn wasn't gonna die today and a bullet wouldn't be the thing that ended him so IM GLAD I WAS RIGHT 😭

The wedding! OH THE WEDDING 🥹👏 It was beautiful, just everyone who loves them there and present in form or in spirit - seeing the dolls and knowing Tonkhao was there just 🥹 maybe I'm just an emotional wreck but this episode really got me in my feels

I did laugh my butt off when they were taking wedding photos because why so stiff 😭🤣 It served prom in a nice way WHICH IS FINE it was just looking a bit awkward and hence it was funny 🤭

Also I could write entire essays about Tan's storyline but the fact that he never held any resentment for his dad even after all of THAT is just astounding, and it highlighted how even though Thee and Tan are very different, down to their core values, they're the same which is why they're perfect for each other

Speaking of perfect for each other, seeing Rose and Maya get engaged!!!!!! AHHHHHHHHH I WAS SO HAPPY FOR THEMM

When Tinn said 'one day' concerning the conversation about the legality of same sex marriage in Thailand, I got in my feels again as you can probably gather is a common theme here, and I realised how much good shows like this promote.. and yeah I won't waffle on too much about that but it was really powerful 🥹

All in all, if we learnt anything from Laws of Attraction, I'd comfortably say it would be... how to say doll in Thai 🤣 (WHAT? It sounds so amazing! tuktā (pronounced too-ka-ta), it's a much better word!)

No, but seriously, what a show, I'd definitely recommend watching it and I hope, whoever is still reading my midnight rambles, enjoys it as much as I did 🫰
