Sweetest baby girl ever! Regresses from 0-7 usually, but on harder days she’s more likely to be around 0-1 in a more baby headspace!

Very sweet and polite baby, unlike when she’s big, she’s way more shy and scared to express herself or her needs. Is very quiet and shy, so sometimes she clings to her caregivers shirts and just points at what she wants while avoiding eye contact ૮꒰◞ ˕ ◟ ྀི꒱ა

Loooooves snacking! She has little Sanrio plates with dividers that her cgs fill up with yummy treats and she snacks on them happily ໒꒰ྀི˶˃ᆺ˂˶ ꒱ྀིა

When she’s struggling with dysmorphia, ena sits her down in front of a mirror and brushes her hair softly while having her repeat soft affirmations like:

“I am safe and cared for.”

Her regression is mostly due to her childhood trauma; and even though her caregivers try to make it a positive experience for her, she tends to cry a lot when she’s in a little headspace especially when bad memories resurface on her little mind :(

When she’s crying, she does it very quietly to not alert/burden/worry anyone with herself,, however! Her caregivers are very perceptive and always running to the rescue! ໒꒰ྀིっ˕ -｡꒱ྀི১

When she’s crying, Mafuyu cradles her in his arms and rocks her gently while he walks around the room, soothingly singing to her and comforting her.

If she’s crying and Kanade finds her, she cuddles her in bed against the headboard, gently carding her hands through her hair and kissing her head while comforting her.

If Ena finds her crying, she picks her up and talks to her and cuddles her and gives her sooooo many kisses and blows little raspberries on her tummy until she’s a happy and content baby again

Mafuyu: The Staff of Guidance; Part 2

This is a What Lies Behind / What Lies Ahead side story. Mafuyu signs on to Nightcord early and it's just her and Mizuki. Seeing an opportunity to get something off her chest, Mizuki asks Mafuyu if she can ask her something, just the two of them. Mafuyu's journey forward has been and will continue to be painful, and Mizuki wonders if Mafuyu has any insights to help her on that same journey, because the event story is about Mizuki being too afraid to take it.

Mizuki barely knows how to articulate what she wants to know from Mafuyu, much less articulate it to someone struggling to recognize her own emotions.

But, the way Mizuki rephrases her question deserves some attention. Moving forward means finally learning the answers to some really big questions. To Mizuki, those questions may be, What will change if N25 knows my secret and my pain? Will the same things be fun anymore if they understand I'm every bit a social outcast as they are? Do I want to feel seen, accepted, and understood, or to have a space where I'm simply a girl no questions asked, and which of those is getting to be myself?

There are many questions Mizuki may be asking herself, and she can't know the answers to any of them, and that terrifies her, especially because, here and now, she's comfortable; she's getting by and she's having her fun.

During the event story, Mizuki refusing to leave her comfort zone finally tipped her over the edge, but Ena caught her, and made her a promise that was either exactly right or exactly wrong for Mizuki, because it meant Mizuki can stay in her comfort zone and never learn those big answers, forever.

Mizuki doesn't have to move forward. Instead, she asks Mafuyu why she should still try to.

Mafuyu has an analogous situation; in many ways, Mizuki and Mafuyu parallel each other. While Mizuki's own unsustainable norm is having fun in the moment at the expense of personal growth or considerations for her future, Mafuyu's is perfectly fulfilling everybody in her life's expectations of her at once, at the expense of her sense of self and losing contact with how she, as a person, feels.

Mafuyu asks herself how she has the courage to move forward in her path, which runs parallel to Mizuki's. She cites growth gradually making things better for her in real ways; she never knew she could be in a state where she doesn't want to disappear, or one where she can lessen the pain she feels.

Mafuyu also cites Kanade's promise to her as being a reason she has the courage to move forward: the song Kanade promises to write that will save her.

Ena likewise made Mizuki a similar promise, and these promises have their own parallels. Kanade, who would compose regardless of Mafuyu being saved, will never stop trying to save Mafuyu, until Mafuyu is saved. Ena, who would be Mizuki's friend regardless of Mizuki sharing her secret or not, will never pressure Mizuki to open up to her or show her her true self, until Mizuki is emotionally ready to.

Mizuki admitted to herself in Episode 8 that she's afraid she'll still never tell Ena her secret even after she's ready, because Ena's promise means she could be Mizuki's friend indefinitely. Likewise for Mafuyu finally telling Kanade when a song does save her, although this question can only be explored by Mafuyu, who isn't emotionally equipped to explore it yet.

Things will be different after that final turning point, for both members of each pair. Mizuki is afraid of what that means, but Mafuyu's response here implies that she may be excited for it.

To Mafuyu, that destination is somewhere she wants to be, no matter what it means or each difficult step she'll need to walk to get there. It's a destiny, a sense of purpose; it's something she has to do.

Mizuki understands this now, but we don't get to see whether she is receptive to the idea or not. Interestingly though, we don't even get to see whether Mizuki changes the subject or gets evasive, either; the conversation is simply interrupted by the other members signing on at 1 am.

🩷 They love pretending to be a magical girl! Lovely Ribbon Mizu-chan is here to save her cgs and sibbies from any bad guys or monsters that may threaten them! Usually involving the monsters on the bed or when Ena decides to be the "worstest person ever" and says no more cookies since they "already had five" smh those are rookie numbers.

🩷 Most of her cg titles are sibling ones (Kanade-neechan, Ena-nee, Rui-niichan, etc), but Honami is her mama, she's everyone in Nightcord's mama, she cannot fight it /lh

🩷 Absolutely hates naps, but adores the idea of "catnaps". They'll only go down for a nap some days if their cg agrees to let them curl up in a ball on a chair, their lap, or a "cat bed" made of pillows. Sunbeams help immensely. They may or may not also be a kitty regressor that hasn't realized it yet-

🩷 That being said, for how chaotic they can be while small, they love quiet time, usually while other little ones are napping. Cuddling up close with a cg, maybe with a white noise machine or gentle music on, working on simple crafts or reading a picture book, either with them involved or just having their caregiver as a comforting presence. This especially helps when they've had a long or stressful day, they calm down immediately.

🩷 Loves claw machines, since she already loves stuffed animals while small. She's been fuzzy while walking home with Toya before and they passed an arcade, which ended in Mizuki being so impressed by "Mr. Toya's" super cool crane machine skills, since even though she loves the stuffed animals she usually needs Mafuyu or Rui to win them for her when she's small (oh, the tragedies of poor hand-eye coordination...)

🩷 They love the idea of being a cool big sister to younger regressors, just like Yuuki! They wanna help their cgs with everything they can, even if sometimes it's a bit messy (they aren't allowed to refill sippy cups on their own anymore), it's the thought that counts!

🩷 Speaking off, before telling Ena and the rest of Nightcord, the only ones that knew they were an age regressor were Rui and Yuuki, who saw them regressed a few times in middle school and helped them out before they eventually told her what it was later. She's very supportive, buying them lots of cute little gear and cging over phone or video calls when they're alone, even when their time zones get a bit wonky she'll never leave her baby sister behind.

-Ichika is so sweet when you fall asleep on her shoulder when you both sit together. She gets a little embarrassed at first but she really is smiling and content with you sleeping on her shoulder.

-She doesn't really ever fall asleep on you though, she can stay up pretty late without having to fight her eyes to stay up with you. As long as you're up, she'll try her best to stay up with you until you fall asleep.

-Prefers to lay next to you while you both sleep but, doesn't mind having you rest on her to sleep. Whether that be on her lap or her shoulder, as long as you're resting easy, she's content.

-It's pretty common for both you and Minori to fall asleep while leaning onto the others shoulder. Sometimes one of you just needs a quick nap and the others shoulder is the perfect spot for that.

-Quite honestly, she like to sleep on your lap. It's comforting to her, especially when you start to play with her hair gently. It makes her fall asleep so fast she doesn't even realize that she just did.

-She does prefer to cuddle with you if you both decide to take a nap together though. She just really likes hugging you as you both are comfortably sleeping beside one and other.

-Kohane often comes home from one of her late night shows and wants to sleep but she also wants to stay up with you still! She always feels guilty when she falls asleep on your shoulder or lap because she couldn't keep herself awake.

-It's not uncommon for you both to fall asleep on each other though. She'll fall asleep on your shoulder first and you'll follow soon after, your head leaning on hers.

-She feels bad when she falls asleep on you, leaving you alone as if you both weren't having a conversation. She thought she closed her eyes for one second and then it's suddenly morning! She truly wished she didn't fall asleep so easily like that.

-Tsukasa doesn't particularly fall asleep on you often. He's most times up and about, not sitting at any given moment so it's truly hard to fall asleep on him unless it was late at night when he's mellowed out and gotten tired from the eventful day that was earlier.

-More often than not, you'll be falling asleep next to each other rather than on the other. Sometimes though, you just want to spend some time laying on his lap while he flips through his phone or the channels on tv.

-Its then when that's your only chance to fall asleep on him. He likes to play with your hair occasionally when you lay your head on his lap so it really only adds to the sleepiness that you feel when you lay down.

-When he realizes that you've fallen asleep, he won't move. There's no way that he'd like to wake up his precious s/o after they were tired enough to fall asleep on his lap! He lets you take your nap until you wake up, not wanting to move no matter what.

A comfortable silence was settling in the room as you and Kanade sat on her bed together. She had just gotten off a call with her friends and wanted to spend some time with you. Some well deserved time with all the music she's been composing. She needed a break and sometimes she couldn't get one.

" Hey, look at this cute cat, Kanade. " You angled your phone towards her, refreshing the video to start it over for her. You heard her let out a quiet, short laugh at the cat video as she rested her head on your shoulder.

" The cat was very cute, I like it. " She smiled, returning her gaze back to her own phone screen and you resumed your scrolling. Your favorite thing was the fact that you both could sit in silence and yet still know the other is enjoying every moment of whatever you both might be doing, even if it is separately.

It didn't matter if suddenly as you were scrolling, an audio blasted loudly because you'd laugh it off and Kanade would just smile. She enjoyed it and hoped you did too. She liked just being next to you, her head on your shoulder and you both sat comfortably together.

It wasn't long after you showed her another video of cats that she put down her phone and started watching yours. " Hey... Go back I wanted to see what would happen on that. " And you'd scroll back up and watch it with her. That was until you only heard her breathing quietly as she slept on your shoulder. It had gotten late so you didn't blame her but you'd feel bad if you were to move her! You both end up sleeping there until morning where she feels a bit guilty for falling asleep like that on you.

Listen, I understand why Suite isn't a popular season. Generally speaking, the best parts of it are generally done better in the two seasons that precede it. It in many ways is just a weaker frankensteining of Fresh and Heartcatch. But Fresh and Heartcatch are fantastic, so just because it's worse than those seasons, doesn't mean its bad in my opinion. And to be fair, it does deserve many of its criticisms.

But it's also one of my favorite seasons, and I think some of it's criticisms are more a matter of taste. There's just a lot I love about Suite.

Hibiki and Kanade

I also know a lot of people aren't huge fans of the whole fighting thing Hibiki and Kanade have going on. And I agree, it's not the best executed and some things don't make sense. I also understand that many people are not fond of the vitriolic best buds trope, but I don't think that makes their relationship inherently bad just not to everyone's taste. For what it's worth, we haven't had a pair of cures like them before and since and it's a tragedy to me personally because I am quite fond of vitriolic best buds, duo cures and childhood friends. We have so many cure duos and aside from these two, none are childhood friends. The CLOSEST is the fact that Saki and Mai met once, when they were 9. Several trios of childhood friends (Fresh, Doki Doki and Happiness Charge), but they're the only true childhood friend duo. I honestly want more cures like these two. They get the learning to understand each other that the new friendships have, with the wealth of intimate knowledge about each other stemming from their childhood friendship. Despite spending a year "apart", the years they spent together still mean something, and they can't seem to stay away. They're mad at each other but there is still a comfortable familiarity in the way they aren't afraid to fight with each other. They say they aren't friends but they still call each other by first name.

Their hearts naturally fall into perfect harmony. The have like the same sense of style. Kanade likes to bake. Hibiki likes to eat. Souta refers to Hibiki as "Hibiki-Nee-san", and otherwise treats her similarly to his own sister. They have a flashlight code that they use to communicate across town at night. Neither one realized that there are two entrances with Sakura trees at their middle school or tried to talk about it for a whole year. They're both so stupid.

They take after Nagisa and Honoka a lot too. Nagisa and Hibiki are both athletic redheads who are good at sports and have black as a main color in one of their outfits (Cure for Nagisa, Civ for Hibiki), and generally use pink in their outfits. Both like to eat. Both can be prone to grumpiness and disagreements with their family members. Honoka and Kanade are both white Cures with fierce tempers and a strong sense of responsibility, able to handle domestic things like cooking. Both have more academic strengths, but are relatively graceful. There are some twists of course, Kanade has the little brother who she bickers with (their little brother's even both end their name with "ta"), Hibiki is the one with a parent who is often abroad. I really like how the two called back to the original duo without at all feeling like a copy.

To be fair not communicating is the name of the game in Suite. And so, I do 100% understand not liking this plot. I really do understand it. It's more than fair. All of the plots basically revolve around miscommunication. That is like. The entirety of Suite. Miscommunications, and the breakdown and subsequent healing of relationships. A very very valid complaint. One that I can overlook, but understand if others cannot.

Siren and Hummy

So, Precure's second heel-face turn Cure (if we don't count the Kiryuu sisters). She's a shapeshifting cat who can sing. The original one.

While normally I dislike the "Brainwashed to be evil" trope. It can be very effective. Go Princess used it to great effect in which there was a level of tragedy to the years that had been stolen away from Towa, and how her motivations had been twisted. I think it has similar effect here, where we kind of get both. She was brainwashed, and I do think that does cheapen Siren's motivations and redemption a bit, but she also had genuinely negative feelings towards Hummy, that she acted on in refusing to practice with Hummy. She still has to face Hummy head on, and as much as she tries to pretend that she's hard and strong enough to live in her bitterness. Siren isn't actually mean enough to keep facing her friend and betray her over and over again.

Hummy being better at singing than her caused her to lose a piece of her identity. The most important singer in all of Majorland. The one who sings the melody of happiness. So Siren doubles down on that identity. She becomes Minorland's singer. But she also, due to her shapeshifting, spends that time adopting different identities. Testing things out, even if she doesn't realize it. Ultimately she has to completely let go of her old identity (losing access to her original form) and everything associated with it and forge a new sense of self, in order to find happiness. But she doesn't completely lose everything.

Despite not liking to be called Siren anymore, she still lets Hummy call her that. She turned her old identity of Siren into something bitter, so she had to cast it off to redefine herself. But Hummy is the only one who ever saw the real Siren through everything Siren tried to become. Hummy may have been the one who took her sense of worth, but she's also the one who always saw Siren's value as Siren. Hummy gets to use Siren because her relationship with Hummy is the only thing that survived Siren's evolution. The two have to forge a new relationship to a certain extent. But it's built on what came before.

I also just think it's fun that the bulk of this emotional arc is on Hummy. It's cat drama. Fairy drama. Usually this is the kinda of stuff that happens between the pink and the heel-face cure. But not this time. This time it's the cat fairy, and the pink is dealing with her own friendship drama. I think it also ties right back into Suites continued echo of healing relationships, actually listening to people in order to harmonize with them. Hibiki and Kanade have to resolve their bitter feelings from their estrangement. Siren has to get over her jealousy to let Hummy back into her life. And Mephisto and Aphrodite have to stop fighting a war against each other.

Major Land's Royal Family

I mean really, no one bothered to tell Hibiki and Kanade at any point that Mephisto was the brainwashed former King of Major Land and that Major Land had a princess who was in hiding? Just locked out of the loop. Both Kanon and Majorland are entirely made up of people who can't communicate.

Anyway, Ako is my all time favorite cure. I rather unpopular choice, I know. But she fits right in with many of my other favorites, characters such as Hikari Yagami, Takeru Takaishi, King Clawthorne, King Ezran, Anya Forger etc. I love kid characters. I especially love messed up traumatized kids who don't always deal with it in great ways. And kid characters with heaps of responsibility on their shoulders. Like chosen ones and royalty.

So Ako is the epitome of what I look for in my favorite characters. She's a 9 year old with high future expectations, that she can't even begin to try and live up to because she's been sent away from everything she's known and loved. Not just moving to a new town, but a new world, where the rules of what is and isn't normal are different. In addition she was forced into physically altering her appearance, wearing unfamiliar clothes, and cutting her long hair. Not only that, she now has to keep everything about her secret. Her hometown, whatever music magic she has, her real future career plans, everything that made her her, has to be suppressed and kept secret. And she was like. Six. That's tiny. And she has to construct a whole new fake identity?

No wonder she's grumpy and keeps to herself? Her alternative is just trying to keep up a bunch of lies all the time. And keeping to herself, means few friends, and trying to keep people away, because this is supposed to be temporary to some degree. She has back home eventually, she's their future queen. She really has no choice BUT to be a grumpy brat. To keep from getting found out and to keep from getting attached. Like sure she doesn't have to be a brat to Hibiki and Kanade, but she's kinda right half the time, and honestly her tempering that brattiness into being just unpleasant enough to be left alone without being so obnoxious she draws people's ire involves way more socio-emotional intelligence than should ever be expected from a nine year old. And at a certain point, after years of it, it became part of her real personality. The sweet optimistic little princess is still there. But it's under a layer of cynicism.

Ako wants her family back. So she gets the power to do that. And things still don't go her way.

I've joked to people before that Ako is one of 4 cures with divorced parents. Her parents are effectively divorced, but extra. They're not just trying to fight over a house and custody of her, but over not just an entire kingdom, but the fate of the world. And her father doesn't even know who she is anymore. Her parents are actively at war, and her mother honestly shows no qualms about letting her husband be potentially killed, not bothering to tell the people she's sent after him about their relationship and his true nature. (And then her mom asks Mephisto to kill her to protect their kingdom, Ako can't catch a break).

This ties back to a fact that is kind of brushed over in the show. Ako is the princess. In the show she's honestly just the princess because it puts her in between Mephisto and Aphrodite's drama. But we see in show that Mephisto and Aphrodite are constantly putting their kingdom's needs above their own. A- monarchs (points deducted for getting brainwashed), but like. B- parents tbh. They love Ako so, so much, but simply can't raise her themselves. In fact, Ako's parents won't look after themselves, so Ako has to look out for them instead of the other way around. We see this a lot with Mephisto.

Sometimes Ako makes absolutely stupid decisions, like releasing notes, because she doesn't want to go against her dad, even if he isn't himself right now. Because she's a child whose parents are fighting, seemingly to the death, and if she can spread out the fight, she can hopefully drag out the arrival of consequences.

Ako does eventually learn to use the power as a cure, so she can balance the needs of the many over the needs of her loved ones. So she can do both. But she has to learn to make the hard choices and be willing to stand against her loved ones.

Also Ako also gets the miscommunication based friendship breakdown with her and Suzu, and to a lesser extent her and Souta in the movie. Suite really goes hard on the whole healing relationships thing.

Ako is really a direct foil to Yuri who precedes her. Missing evil brainwashed dads. Present throughout the whole show, but only join the team in the last quarter (the latest of any Cures). Semi-awkward friendship with one of the other cure's siblings in part because their friend doesn't know about all their magical girl trauma. Already looped into the magical girl stuff before any of the other cures, so has a preexisting relationship of some sort with the grandparent mentor. Ako is pretty much just a baby Yuri, but who has just now gained the power to try and fight after years of inability to do anything, instead of having just lost her power, and having to face down her own failure and keep going. So she's an angry elementary kid rather than a depressed high schooler. How can I not love her?

Ever since you two started dating, Tsurugi has preached his beliefs about criminal scum onto you. To enter into a relationship with him you have to either agree with him or be someone who can actually cause his beliefs to genuinely falter in a way that avoids breaking his mind. Considering your later actions, you clearly fall into the latter category.

Considering Tsurugi's past with his late best friend, he's always had an appreciation for your close friendship with F/N. His friendship with Kouhei was ripped away from him by a bomb and he sincerely hopes that this killing game won't be what rips you two apart. He would frequently tell you how he vows to protect you two so that your friendship gets the happy ending he didn't get to have.

With how isolated Tsurugi is from the group, his relationship with F/N is wholly dependent on if they're as willing as you are to look past his psycho cop behavior. Tsurugi would love to be friends with F/N as he knows how precious they are to you but he's also not going to push it since pushing it would just upset them and in turn upset you which he wouldn't want to do.

When a body shows up and investigation starts, he investigates and comes to a grim realization. He would end up triple checking all the evidence and facts for your sake but the truth becomes very clear to Tsurugi after his autopsy and analysis of the crime: F/N is the killer.

He plans to break it to you before the trial starts to spare you the horror of finding out in the middle of the class trial and so you can get away from the criminal but he doesn't get the chance to talk to you about it in private due to F/N clinging to you and instead just spends the entire trial antagonizing them and is much harsher to them than he ever was on Akane. Friendships are something to be treasured and the fact they threw away their friendship with you by becoming a criminal disgusts him.

Your choice to defend them throughout the trial is something that angers Tsurugi but is something he can rationalize, you've been long time friends with them, you didn't just meet at the start of the killing game, once you see the facts you have to accept the truth that is painfully right in front of you so he alongside Yuki and Rei break down every shred of evidence that could imply F/N's innocence and leave you two devastated.

When F/N is convicted, his first move is to comfort you. He's not sorry for how harsh he was with you to ensure F/N's vote but he is sorry he wasn't able to rip the bandaid off early with you. You two would end up fighting over the fact you still want to be near F/N after Monokuma confirms their the killer and your classmates would likely have to step in to prevent a massive argument from ensuing.

Tsurugi's too disgusted with F/N to even bother looking at them so doesn't pay attention to the execution until Akane screams out that you're in the execution. He immediately yells at Monokuma to stop the execution since you shouldn't be there but Monokuma refuses since you being there was your own conscious choice.

He would likely try to get to the execution to drag you out but he's stopped by Monokuma and Rei who say its impossible so he's simply left in the courtroom, staring at the screen, desperately hoping for a miracle that allows you to get out of the punishment without F/N who he blames for this entire situation.

When you die alongside F/N, the fire that was in him as he demanded Monokuma stop the execution is completely put out. His mind breaks at the sight of you and F/N's death. When he had begun dating you, he had sworn to protect you both but here he was, a complete and utter failure in that regard.

Yuki would have to coax him to even move as Monokuma cackles in glee at his despair, asking him to say something over the pathetic death of his partner who died trying to save someone being punished for disturbing the group's harmony. He doesn't end up saying anything and runs off the second he's allowed to, no one except Rei would have the heart to comment on it as Tsurugi's heartbreak is palpable enough that even Haru, the guy vehemently against him, says to give him space.

He's just so confused why you would did what you did. Yuki had explained in complete detail how F/N inhumanely chose to end the life of your precious classmate yet you ran in to save them? Did you not understand that by becoming the blackened F/N was no longer your friend? They were planning to let you and everyone else die for their own selfish wishes and yet you ignored that and tried to stop their execution?

What happens to Tsurugi after these events is essentially his downward spiral in SDRA2 but at a faster pace. He had hope of recovering and becoming a better man with you by his side but with you gone at a death that was ultimately meaningless, and his future conga line of trauma at the hands of the death game that won't stop attacking everything he's built his life on, Tsurugi would break apart and be left with nothing but his corrupted sense of justice.

Shinji had always advocated for getting the Voids to join the group and betray Mikado to end the killing game once and for all. He was glad you agreed with his beliefs about the Voids since as more and more killings happened, the class grew angrier and angrier at the Voids.

He's always found it sweet that you managed to get in the same class as a long time friend of yours. When you two started dating, he would've befriended F/N and offers to train them much like he does with Yuki (albeit with a very red face if they're a girl).

As the group fractures more and more, he would try his best to ensure you and F/N stuck together as friends. You had absolute faith in your friendship with F/N so Shinji would rest easy on the matter of your friendship and instead would vow to protect you two so you don't get split apart and become victims of the killing game. If he were more observant, he would've noticed the cryptic nature of F/N's responses to him saying things like that but whenever he gets a slightly off feeling from them, he brushes them off as soon as he sees you happy with them.

When the body is discovered, he stands guard near the body but questions if he should when you are suspected for the murder due to a skeptical alibi and some evidence suggesting its you. You assure him that he should do his job and leave investigating to Kanade and Sora which he can't disagree with, those two are much better at class trials than he is and he worries he would get in the way of the trial.

When suspicion is moved from you and F/N, it's unclear just who is more defensive of them between you and Shinji. Shinji doesn't have the most sound arguments to defend F/N but much like he defended Hajime, he'll defend them when there's even the slightest bit of hope they may be innocent because he just can't fathom why F/N would commit a crime then pin it on you.

After Sora cuts down both of your arguments and F/N is outed as a Void, Shinji is the one seeking answers for their motive and plan. He had trusted in them and they had seen firsthand that he was willing to work alongside the Voids to escape Utsuroshima so just why did they kill someone for Mikado?

As their long time friend, you likely have an idea as to why they're so desperate but it's highly unlikely you have all the details. Shinji would try to evoke what he did with Emma in asking if they're really okay with dying at the hands of Monocrow. Similarly to Emma, the answer is no but of course Monocrow and Mikado don't care about any pleas for clemency and commence the execution.

You would have to move extremely fast to somehow get as far as the execution without Shinji grabbing onto you to either help you get F/N away from the chain or grabbing you to save your life. It's most likely that he did grab you in time and you tried to save F/N together, Mikado is the one to separate you three with you gripping onto F/N hard enough to get dragged into the execution with them.

Overwhelming anger washes through Shinji as you die alongside your best friend. Mikado tries to spew some excuse as to why he was unable to separate you from F/N in time but Sora would point out the fact he managed to separate Shinji from you so she finds it extremely unlikely he couldn't have separated you from F/N. When he cackles at Sora's observation, Yuki would have to hold back Shinji from breaking the no violence rule.

When they're ordered to leave the class trial, a part of Shinji doesn't want to go. This was the last place you were ever alive, why can't be allowed just one more minute in the room where you were? He would leave if execution awaited him for staying and he would confide in Yuki or Setsuka for help in how to cope with the situation. The situation doesn't change his stance on the Voids as the fact you cared enough about F/N to die with them proves the Voids aren't heartless beasts but every time he advocates for the group to get together and fight Mikado as a class, he can't help but be haunted by the memory of you and F/N, the pair of friends who he vowed to protect.

☆ mizuki, after much pleading, managed to convince mafuyu to have regular playdates in the empty sekai. the favorite activity has become the two of them scheming (mainly mizu, but mafuyu helps a bit) and playing pranks on the virtual singers.

☆ when ena's the one taking care of them, they usually have outings to malls, cafes, and stores. mizuki is a very curious little one, so whenever they are out, ena always has a tight hold on mizuki's hand... and if they werent already feeling small, they feel so, so tiny with that caring gesture.

Between the DR serial killers, which ones are at least the most likable personality wise?

While for extremely personal reasons I don't wish to get into until A Student Out of Time readdresses Kanade, I have little love for serial killers, out of all of them, the one I find the most tolerable is Korekiyo Shiniguji and its for a couple of reasons.

Firstly I really like his design, its easily one of the best of the Killing Harmony Cast. I also liked his original personality as someone who seems to be fascinated by the beauty of humanity and throughout the game would offer very insightful details and knowledge. If Spike Chunsoft didn't decide to make him an incest serial killer, then he could have easily been one of my favourites.

The second reason is as disgusting as the whole See-sister twist is, the only small comfort is because its largely implied a lot of the personalities in Killing Harmony are fabricated for Team Danganronpa, there is a good chance the real Korekiyo was never a serial killer, something that A Student Out Of Time seems to believe in. And even with the incest you could in theory blame Korekiyo's sister more then anything as it was clearly a unhealthy relationship and she was very emotionally abusive to her brother.

As such Korekiyo is probably the least bad of all the serial killers which is ironic since he's the one with the highest kill count. Genocider Syo is not only a very damaging stereotype for people with DID, but I don't like the fact that a serial killer is used for comic relief as its quite insensitive. I do understand why she never killed in Trigger Happy Havoc, and she does go through character development in Ultra Despair Girls, but the point is, she is still a killer. Yes she's been "tamed" and her murderous lust is directed towards objects that deserved to be smashed but outside of a literal end of the world scenario there was no way forward for this character.

And Kanade is just a poor man's Korekiyo and all kinds of disgusting. I don't need to go into a long tirade why Kanade is a horrible character, enough people have already done so.

you nodded in agreement, snapped out of your trance. "how about we check the clearance racks? bound to be something good there for a nice price... i don't know how often ill wear these clothes, aha..." you suggested before mizuki shook their head, taking your hands in theirs. you thought about the mall a little before moving to make your next decisions. an hour or so passed and you had managed to find a few outfits that you liked. in the changing room, you tried everything on as mizuki stood outside waiting to comment or help. eventually, you walked out in the final outfit you picked out. casual but not too casual, cute but not over-the-top, comfy. mizuki clapped their hands and bounced on their toes. "ah! it's perfect! it fits your personality and style, and the colors look so satisfying!" mizuki gushed, making you rub your neck in embarrassment.

"you think so?" you sighed with a smile, tired from all the dressing up. you did a spin to show mizuki the back and retreated back into the changing room to get back into your original clothes. "mizuki, i did the math.. the clothes cost almost 7000 yen... are you sure that's okay? i have..." you stopped just outside the changing room to pull your wallet out of your bag, holding the clothes in one hand. mizuki took your clothes from you.

"of course it is! i already said i would help pay, right? that means no matter how much! i do prettyyyy good at my job so of course i make a reasonable amount~!" mizuki fake pouted as if you suggested they didn't make a lot of cash. "if you insist... i don't know how to repay you..." you started by mizuki shushed you by putting a finger to their lips.

had her father go comatose (and to her, it’s all her fault if he ended up like this)

and now she’s getting abused on top of it all

Kanade’s very good at music and she already plays the piano, so that works out well for Harumichi.

Toya likes her a lot too, so he can… play into that to make sure his son stays obedient, you know? for funsies. make them BOTH suffer. (that’s where we get canon divergent - at least canon Harumichi is… trying, i guess)

i had the idea that only one of them manages to get out of this whole situation, and for this AU… it’s Kanade who stays behind. because that was how i could maximize the suffering and the psychological damage ✨

(Toya Tenma is a thing here. obviously. he goes to Tsukasa when he finally escapes this hell, and ends up living with him and Saki)

Kanade’s newly traumatized after all, and she feels guilty over it because she thinks it’s all her fault. so she thinks, "If I just do what I’m asked, then my music won’t hurt anyone again."

besides, she has a savior complex, so her I Want To Save People tendencies means she could view this situation as a "trading places" thing.

she’s not happy, she’s miserable, but it’s okay. she doesn’t deserve happiness; Toya does. that’s how she can make everyone happy.

well, Toya’s obviously Not Happy. he feels incredibly guilty about it because holy shit, the Aoyagis are just doing the same thing they did to him to Kanade. but now, she’s… all alone.

they were suffering together before, at least.

SEKAIs are created from extremely strong feelings, so i think Kanade could make one in this situation.

it could either be like canon where eventually, 25ji is created, i guess, but i think it’d be funky if this was a shuffle AU thing, and Kanade / Toya ended up in the same unit.

(Kanade is like Mafuyu here; she needs saving, and Toya provides it. an interesting idea. i think.)

because, like… Kanade goes in the SEKAI to find comfort. but one day, she just thinks… she could stay there. she already wants to disappear in canon, so this whole mess would make it worse.

Miku finds Toya and she’s like "Please, can you help me? I dont know what to do :("

Toya goes for it because that might be his only chance to save Kanade.

Kanade just tries to get him to leave her alone but it’s not working, and she keeps trying to pretend like she’s okay but shes obviously not, and-

oh.

she starts crying.

and then she ends up bawling her eyes out in Toya’s arms because everything was just hell without him.

Toya just tells her that he’ll help her, that he got out of there, and that she can do the same thing.

and it just… it feels really nice.

it’s been so long since Kanade’s felt warmth.

The Tomorrow We Hope For, Episode 9

At Mizuki's insistence, Nightcord at 25:00 celebrate New Year's at the shrine that MORE MORE JUMP! is volunteering at, real life idols dressing up as shrine maidens. As a lover of not only idols and anime but also all things cute, Mizuki can't contain herself.

I want to say something like, the elephant in the room is Mizuki's behavior is unusual for girl fans of idols, but Minori had exactly the same reaction to seeing her own idol Haruka dressed in shrine maiden regalia, despite Minori spending almost every day with her. But, there is something to be said for this:

Mizuki actually doesn't have much of a reaction to Ena's inadvertently gendered remark. I got curious and checked the Japanese dialogue (courtesy of Sekaipedia) to see if Ena's comment was gendered in the original Japanese, and it is. Mizuki's either fangirling too close to the sun or is reveling in the knowledge that Ena really and truly has no inkling of her secret to the point of making such a huge promise about it.

They visit the Omikuji booth to draw fortune slips with Minori, and we get this exchange, which is unusual for a different reason.

Mizuki is teasing, but I think there's something else to it too. Mizuki could poke fun at Ena even without offering to trade fortunes, and it still doesn't explain the devious look on her face as she offers. I think Mizuki is covering up feeling like she doesn't deserve a 'great blessing' but that she deserves a 'curse'. This is after What Lies Behind / What Lies Ahead; Mizuki is ashamed she fears she still won't tell Ena her secret even after she is ready, because she can have friendship without leaving her comfort zone.

Finally, we see N25's New Year's wishes. Kanade wishes to write a song that can save everyone (as opposed to one that can save Mafuyu specifically), and Mafuyu wishes to find her true self.

Ena wishes for success in art, but decides it's dishonest to wish for Mizuki to confess her secret to her.

Mizuki follows her true feelings to have lifelong friends, and wishes to continue growing close with N25. It's more than her wishing for things to stay easy and let her maintain her comfortable distance, this is Mizuki enjoying spending time with her friends and wanting to keep hold of that.

this really needs a lot more exposition than i have the energy to type damn. ok well. the girls are in high school. mafuyu has a shitty fucking home life and her entire story (her band's entire story!) is all about how. they make music together online but then she starts acting Fucking Weird and. well to put it plainly she's gonna kill herself. if she can't find "it". a sense of self, something worth sticking around for, the feelings she's missing. she ends up with a SEKAI, which is this fuckinf. dimension built on her garbage feelings, and Hatsune Miku is there. ♡ because. she just is ok.

for HARROW. i think itd make a lot of fucking sense if alecto was her miku. its a pretty nice 1:1 of... humanoid girlthing prevents you from Fucking Dying. and harrow's SEKAI would definitely mirror the tomb.

the rules when it comes to SEKAI are fucking nebulous but mafuyu spends a lot of time there voluntarily and kind of disappears from the real world, leading to her bandmates getting concerned. AND miku starts showing up to KANADE, asking her to help or else mafuyu is gonna disappear for good.

for harrow this probably translates to much of the same but alecto reaches out to gideon. i imagine much like canon harrow she starts leaning on alecto a lot for comfort when alecto is available, and like... accessing this space willingly and frequently.

with kanade, when miku contacts her, she falls asleep at her desk and (temporarily) mistakes it for a dream SO those are kind of the rules i'm going with here. to the viewer, harrow's just. fuckinf. spacey as all hell. Which is unusual (when it comes to school) so ofc gideon has to pester the fuck out of her for it.

i havent decided how this shit ends in what im writing but in CANON kanade is able to accompany mafuyu into her SEKAI, attempt to reason with her, fail really hard and repeatedly, but . eventually they get through and she doesnt kill herself yippee woohoo yaya

In the Mizuena Story Ena comes across the Others multiple times (since the entire plot is about crossing the line between human and others) and I've been trying to give each encounter some form of unique flair, adjusting the prose or working on some interesting forms of distortion.

Ones I'm satisfied with are Teto and the crows. Teto who invites Ena in a dance and having a fun little talk, before leaving Ena exhausted and confused. Talking about how fun the days of the others mixing with humans are, but how they'll always end. The crows who solely talk in ellipses, moving as one large mocking body of glimmering obsidian.

The ones I'm not so fond of, or at least have to work on are, Oliver the cat (There's one scene where Ena tries to interact with him, but small frightened Oliver hisses at her. Erm bla bla rejection of the other), Internet co. (Ena gets suddenly lost in the woods during training, Gumi and some others randomly appear and help her out, with the additional warning that she should leave Mizuki (so homophobic of them :/)), Rui (He's one of the last hurdles, going "Oh me and Mizuki are like Other Others, not fun. You prolly shouldn't associate with us" just, I like writing Ruis dubious hut and the idea of Mizurui angsty "We are children of Chaos" musings makes me go tihi, but I haven't wrote enough of that), Kanade (Homegirl deserves a Ghostbusting chapter, but atm the best I can give is "Wow there's this weirdly beautiful music playing at night, sure hope it's not a ghost or something" ) and prolly some more I can't say from the top of my head lmao.

Most interactions just have the goal of portraying the idea of "Noo, don't interact with us, you're like, privileged or something" almost always followed by Ena ignoring or forgetting the warnings, cuz her only comfort is from the other (rejected heir and all) Basically the common Mizuena chase theming lmao, but I get weird about the themes of sanctity/purity

I could put that to Contrast to the Shizuai plot, where the opposite of Enas theming happens. Instead of a human finding comfort in the Other, it's the inverse with a Other finding comfort in humans.

But instead of sanctity it's domestication and wilderness I explore lmao. Still there are scenes where Airi loses her wilderness, her lynx self and those are fun to explore and the prose in that one is genuinely my favorite part (I used several methods to somewhat describe the transition from lynx to hound to Airi for example by replacing names with animals and then status (If things go as intended Airi won't mention any name before finding equal grounds with Shizuku) It's really fun to figure out animalistic imagery and then the roles of society, all while considering Airis current mindset (Standoffish and all High and mighty to confused, ashamed and deminishing) that stuff plays into my interest lmao)

Still that story heavily relies on me expressing that transition from Airis Pov. Mizuena is mostly interaction based, so I chuck Ena into a room of weirdos and get some dialogue out of it. Her Pov only has some interesting points, like a more painterly prose for descriptions, but nothing that is really beyond the average Pov type. Maybe I could add some more flair to her Pov, but the Character struggle is too external to be worth it :P
