#and just the fight between luke and percy in general was so cool

i love how they changed the way luke is revealed as the traitor like it’s soo good. the fact that annabeth was also there listening so she was able to hear about his betrayal first hand was such a great change and i think it’s really important bc of their relationship. although i do wish we could have gotten some more interactions between them prior. to the ppl who have only watched the show, that scene hurts because of the way the betrayal hurts percy. for book readers it’s not only percy, but annabeth too. we feel more for annabeth bc we understand how long they’ve known each other and how they care for each other like siblings.

Hi! Q again.
1: Your thoughts/headcanons on demigods compared to normal mortals.
Personally, I think it'd be cool if more disparities between demis and humans were shown. Obvi they're more durable, yeah, but what about them having trouble controlling their superhuman strength or accidentally lifting something that would be way too heavy for any mortal.
2: thoughts on freakouts and loss of control.
Personally, I love a good superhuman freakout. You're telling me these kids are under constant stress and not once have any of their powers gone out of control? Give me storms, give me launching things across the room in a fit of rage, give me explosions of pure, unbridled power when someone at school pushes them just a bit too far on a bad day.
Anon, Q <333
(P.S. srry for spamming your ask box, I just really love your takes and am scared to dm u <33)
HIIIIII! OKOKOKOK so first off, no need to apologize! I love getting asks like that 💖💖💖💖 There's a reason i told people to abuse my ask box as much as they want, the same going for my DMs! No need to feel scarred, just throw me a message and I'll answer as soon as I can. Of course it's also fine if you don't want to <3333 But now onto the questions! To be quite honest I never really thought about this so thanks! 1: My thoughts/headcanons on demigods compared to normal mortals.
OKOKOK, imma start off with the fact that normal human medication and its dosage just- doesn't work for demigods. Their bodies are different and thus take care of things like sickness and injury faster. So medication often isn't needed, and when it is you'd have to administer a significantly lot more than for a normal mortal. They also tend to form quicker and stronger bonds. It is a bit inspired by human evolution and how we became so social based on the hostile environment, for demigods that environment is even WORSE so their instincts and group drive are stronger. It's easier to survive and fight monsters in a group afterall.
They also tend to grow muscles and mature faster body-wise. In the sense that their strength develops sooner. They get stronger quicker and have heightened stamina. If it weren't for all the monsters going after them all the time they'd have a longer lifespan than mortals actually. Like 100 years at least.
2: Thoughts on freakouts and loss of control.
I think that they DEFINITELY happened and the camp counselors definitely were the ones dealing with them. (We all know Chiron and Mr D wouldn't do shit, let's be real). I think it often happened during nights from nightmares, especially with newer campers who haven't had time to get used to it all yet. That's why most of them happen in Hermes. Oftentimes they manifest in flare-outs of powers due to raw instincts (sorta like what Percy did to Clarisse and the other Ares kids in TLT when they wanted to dunk him in the toilet). The best way to deal with it is to dodge and comfort them. Luke has more than a few scars from times where he couldn't dodge fast enough and took the brunt of the flare-out. He never blamed the children though for when it happened. If it happens in the mortal world it's generally hidden by the mist, which protects the demigods somewhat. Camp places a LOT of emphasis on quickly learning to regulate any power they recognize in demigods to avoid things like that happening in the mortal world.

I've been pretty pos about the show overall (albeit with some criticisms, and I did think episodes 6 and 7 were disappointing and underwhelming) so maybe take my opinion with a grain of salt, but I can confirm that the last episode was really good! one of the bests out of the entire season, if I'm being honest.
they utilized flashbacks really well (Luke + Percy sparring), and the Luke scene was 10/10 imo
ok i finally watched the last episode (over 2 weeks after you sent this, sorry nonnie) and it was definitely the best of the bunch! i liked it :) a solid 6.5/10 maybe, if i had to give a number score? you didn't ask but i love sharing my opinion so, some bullet points:
THE GOOD:
zeus was legit really good! the first (and only) god to actually feel godly, something i've been CRAVING the entire show! "so when i say 'you may go' it means be grateful and it means be gone" is a bar and i'm so sad we won't get more of lance reddick's performance
the ares fight was cool-- good choreography, i like how much Bigger and more physically powerful ares is than percy, you could really feel the strength in his strikes which didn't come across as much in the books. finally seeing percy fully use his powers was neat too, and actually pretty good cgi! i wish it had been longer though. and i wish we got percy actually outwitting ares and using his strength and pride against him instead of ares just staring at the huge wave coming at him for 10 seconds. and feeling the presence of kronos would have been cool. and i wish they had kept ares' curse on him after being defeated which was so much cooler. but i guess i can't have everything
really glad we finally got some training flashbacks with luke! i agree that it's utilized great by being intercut with the ares fight and olympus, and i think they captured luke and percy's dynamic well! luke's line about not being both small and scary was a good addition
speaking of luke, the betrayal scene was also p good! the visual of the fireworks lighting up the scarred side of his face is great (though it would've been better if the scar looked nastier and we actually got its history......) and i think it makes a lot of sense for him to try and recruit percy instead of just killing him! "stop saying we" / "it's the word zeus fears the most" is another great line
percy apologizing after hitting luke was cute lmao, and imo he was a better character in general this episode-- we got more of his edge and impertinence (which i've sorely missed) but also more of his heart and loyalty
other cute things: the last scene between the trio, grover's searchers license being a flower, the sally scenes, percy calling kronos grandpa
walker's performance was also the best it's been so far, he felt like he embodied the character and got to show that he actually has talent
i like the idea of the "clarisse is the lightning thief" red herring! never bothered to watch episodes 6 and 7 though so i can't say much about it
not related to ep 8 specifically but since i haven't mentioned it yet, i actually really like the change of having four pearls instead of three! it works with show!percy being more explicitly focused on saving sally, it makes sense for poseidon to do that as a gesture of goodwill, and it gives more weight to "you shall fail to save what matters most in the end" if they Could have saved her and actually did fail by losing one of the pearls (<- the way they lost one was lame as fuck tho)
THE BAD:
starting off with a nitpick sorry but it bothers me so much that the prophecy line got changed to "find what was stolen and see it returned" when the original just objectively flows better
it also gets under my skin to no end that they just call mrs dodds "alecto" the whole time like what happened to names having power??
also mr d sucks shit he doesn't have that necessary threatening aspect or feel meaningfully resentful of the camp at all. case study: calling percy by the wrong name. in the books it's a sign of purposeful disrespect because he doesn't like percy and doesn't gaf about halfbloods in general, which makes it important on the few occasions when he does get it right, in the show it's just a bad joke
gabe accidentally petrifying himself is a bad change.. i get that it was a consequence of his own nosiness and lack of respect for others, and in a vacuum that's fine (and more fitting for a less explicitly abusive gabe), but it's so much weaker compared to the books. gabe being genuinely Awful adds so much strength to sally's character, both in her selfless love for percy by staying with gabe to protect him and when she actually does get to rescue herself and take control of her own life
i was underwhelmed by how olympus looked-- on a technical level it's pretty, but it was so grey and had none of the energy and sense of life described in the books (which is important for the contrast to how it looks in the fifth!) i think this is a flaw with how they use the volume as a whole, which i also noticed on the beach in the ares scenes. objectively it looks nice, but it's flat and boring when it's overused or you don't add other physical set dressing
was also disappointed they didn't include the gods' custom thrones and they're all nondescript metal :^( where's the personality! where's the whimsy!
making the quest deadline pass to set up poseidon surrendering for percy is fine i guess-- and i can see why it was changed since they've leaned so hard into The Gods Are Bad Parents and need to make it believable that percy wouldn't immediately side with luke-- but again, it's just... weaker than what we already had
i reeeeaaally hate that annabeth was there for the betrayal scene..... her clinging to the hope that luke could be turned back is a FUNDAMENTAL part of the story, both as a character flaw and what ultimately saves them, and i don't see how that could be believable going forward if she actually heard him say that he wants to tear the gods down? and if you're gonna do that at least have her react believably? like that's her big brother, who saved her, who she's known since she was 7, have her yell at him or cry or attack him or something! SOMETHING! why does this show hate annabeth so much i don't understand
i've liked the kronos dream sequences fine so far but i wasn't a big fan of this last one, too cartoon villainy for my taste
and finally to address the elephant in the room, my god the exposition is so fucking annoying, it's by far the biggest problem with the show. whenever percy starts explaining things to people (including people who Already Know the thing he's explaining) i'm like HOW DO YOU KNOW THAT? HOW DID YOU DEDUCE THAT? the most egregious examples in this ep being:
1. figuring out kronos is behind everything. it's such a good little mystery in the book to find out who the big baddie is-- not even annebeth knowing who "the crooked one" is referring to, the mysterious presence on the beach, percy catching the word father in zeus and poseidon's conversation-- and it has a genuine sense of ominousness and ancientness and "THIS WOULD BE REALLY FUCKING BAD" that just isn't present at all in the show because he either already knows or those moments doesn't happen
2. figuring out luke's betrayal. i just don't buy that percy would be able to deduce that with the information he has, and while i like luke wanting to convert him in theory, it would've been so much more powerful to have that slowly-dawning dread as luke reveals his plan and tries to appeal to percy as a friend while also sounding more bitter and angry than he ever has before, rather than percy already knowing and expecting it
anyway i think those are all my thoughts! i know i sound like i hated it lmao but i really didn't (this last episode at least), it was a decently fun watch and i'm doing my best to be fair about the things they did right! although those things are almost More frustrating because i can see the flashes of potential that are ultimately drowned out by an overall disappointing experience :/ but i would love to hear other opinions if anyone wants to share! i never wanna take someone else's enjoyment away and i really am so happy for everyone who liked it

percabeth as songs bc they own me
in no particular order along with era i associate it with and three lyrics that made me choose it.
waves by dean lewis : so i picture this in the post-btol/pre-tlo yearning™ era. this would definetly be more percy centric but theres still some angsty percabeth content.
A feeling I thought was set in stone; It slips through my fingers: percy's reckoning with the fact that one of the only steady thing in his demigod life is changing, and for the first time he doesnt know how to act around his best friend. (and annabeth reckoning with the only steady thing in her life in general changing) its! about! the! yearning!
Down to the place we used to lay when we were kids: best friends percabeth stargazing. thats it.
I watched my wild youth; Disappear in front of my eyes; Moments of magic and wonder; It seems so hard to find; Is it ever coming back again? Take me back to the feeling when; Everything was left to find: ok whew. i think this is when percy really starts to realize how powerful he is and it frightens him. its no longer just oooh i can breathe underwater and oh cool i can will myself dry. he claimed the prophecy at the end of ttc, but the weight of it is heavier now. he misses when being a demigod was bright and shiny and new. he misses being a kid. and he misses being a kid with annabeth. he misses her calling him seaweed brain and ruffling his hair and explaining this world of gods and demigods and monsters to him.
bedroom ceiling by sody: also post-btol/pre-tlo era BUT annabeths perspective.
How am I supposed to know you're not the one? : ok so this may just be me but i have this hc that annabeth is terrified that loosing a love worse than death wasn't luke turning into kronos, but her and percy never going back to how they were. its worse than death because hes right there and can't look her in the eye. i think the not knowing whether it was him or luke kills her far after the quest is over.
I wonder if you're moving on; If you are, what's your secret? 'Cause I can't work out where to start: annabeth was definetley hit hardest by lukes betrayal/giving himself over to kronos, and i think one of the things that unsettles her so much about percy and rachel isnt just plain jealousy. she cant comprehend how percy can think about anything else but saving luke stopping kronos. but she wants to. she wants so desperately to hate luke and to stop caring about him like percy does so they can go back to what they were. but she cant.
Is your bedroom ceiling bored like mine? Of you staring at it all the time; 'Cause it's seen so many nights where I cry and I yell at the sky for not telling you how I feel : i mean. self explanatory.
i'll keep you safe by sleeping at last. i picture this as percy's silent vow to keep annabeth alive during tlo. he never expressly makes the promise but the sheer number of 'don't touch her'- especially after the incident on the bridge- says it all. (now you could most certainly place this in tartarus and it would fit just as well)
Hold out your hand, can you feel the weight of it? The whole world at your fingertips: THIS IS THE ACHILLES SPOT TERRACE SCENE YOU CANNOT CONVINCE ME OTHERWISE. (side note that scene makes me go absolutely FERAL) also i just think that hands>>. on a more serious not the “can you feel the weight of the world at your fingertips” how percy holds the weight of the world on his shoulders and in sharing his weak spot he is sharing the burden.
You'll be an architect, so pull up your sleeves; and build a new silhouette in the skylines up ahead: c’mon man. yk what this means.
Our mistakes, they were bound to be made. But i promise you i'll keep you safe: when it comes down to it the angst, the fights, the jealousy, the confusing feelings dont matter. and as soon as they start fighting (and as soon as annabeth gets hurt and the prospect of losing her gets real, all that matters is seeing his best friend alive.
fine line by harry styles: this song encompasses percy and annabeths growth over the pjo series. im probably gonna do a percabeth edit once all five seasons come out bc of how perfectly it fits. so era is pjo in general but pre-hoo
You’ve got my devotion, but man I can hate you sometimes: this is tlt - som annabeth to percy. need i say more?
we’ll be the fine line: fine line is a great phrase for there entire relationship. until tlo they're always toeing against a line between something. the lines between reluctant allies to actual friends. pretty good friends to best friends. best friends to something more.
we’ll be alright: this is repeated in the song like a mantra growing louder and desperate. i like to think this is both a wish and a promise. even if they're life never slows down they’ll have each other and they'll make it alright.
if youre still here thanks for listening to me rant and attempt analysis. im a mess about them lmao. i have a ton more so if yall like it ill do a part two :)

Y/N L/N AND THE HALFBLOODS
Percy Jackson X Reader -Y/N L/N met Percy Jackson and everything was now ruined.
CHAPTER 10: The Wheels On The Bus Goes Skrt Skrt Skrt
Tumblr media
It didn't take me long to pack. I didn't have anything at all, which left me only an extra change of clothes and a toothbrush to stuff in a backpack Grover had found for me and Percy. Both having nothing to carry we decided to share a bag. The camp store loaned us one hundred dollars in mortal money and twenty golden drachmas. These coins were as big as Girl Scout cookies and had images of various Greek gods stamped on one side and the Empire State Building on the other. The ancient mortal drachmas had been silver, Chiron told us, but Olympians never used less than pure gold. Chiron said the coins might come in handy for non-mortal transactions—whatever that meant. He gave Annabeth, Percy and I each a canteen of nectar and a Ziploc bag full of ambrosia squares, to be used only in emergencies, if we were seriously hurt. It was god food, Chiron reminded us. It would cure us of almost any injury, but it was lethal to mortals. Too much of it would make a half-blood very, very feverish. An overdose would burn us up, literally. Annabeth was bringing her magic Yankees cap, which she told us had been a twelfth-birthday present from her mom. She carried a book on famous classical architecture, written in Ancient Greek, to read when she got bored, and a long bronze knife, hidden in her shirt sleeve. I was sure the knife would get us busted the first time we went through a metal detector. Grover wore his fake feet and his pants to pass as human. He wore a green rasta-style cap, because when it rained his curly hair flattened and you could just see the tips of his horns. His bright orange backpack was full of scrap metal and apples to snack on. In his pocket was a set of reed pipes his daddy goat had carved for him, even though he only knew two songs: Mozart's Piano Concerto no. 12 and Hilary Duff's "So Yesterday," both of which sounded pretty bad on reed pipes. We waved good-bye to the other campees, took one last look at the strawberry fields, the ocean, and the Big House, then hiked up Half-Blood Hill to the tall pine tree that used to be Thalia, daughter of Zeus. Chiron was waiting for us in his wheelchair. Next to him stood a surfer looking dude. According to Grover, the guy was the camp's head of security. He supposedly had eyes all over his body so he could never be surprised. Today, though, he was wearing a chauffeur's uniform, so I could only see extra peepers on his hands, face and neck. "This is Argus," Chiron told us. "He will drive you into the city, and, er, well, keep an eye on things." I heard footsteps behind us. Luke came running up the hill, carrying a pair of basketball shoes. "Hey!" he panted. "Glad I caught you." Annabeth blushed, the way she always did when Luke was around. I looked at him with a frown. "Don't look at me like that. I had to find out from the others you're going on a quest." he glared. "So much for the option you won't die at." "I would've told you if you were at the cabin when I got back. Now what's with the shoes?" "Just wanted to say good luck," Luke told Percy. "And I thought... um, maybe you could use these." He handed him the sneakers, which looked pretty normal. They even smelled kind of normal. Luke said, "Maia!" White bird's wings sprouted out of the heels, startling me so much, Percy dropped them. The shoes flapped around on the ground until the wings folded up and disappeared. "Awesome!" Grover said. Luke smiled. "Those served me well when I was on my quest. Gift from Dad. Of course, I don't use them much these days...." His expression turned sad. I didn't know what to say. It was cool enough that Luke had come to say good-bye. But here he was giving Percy a magic gift.... It made me a bit jealous. "Hey, man," Percy said. "Thanks." "Listen, Percy..." Luke looked uncomfortable. "A lot of hopes are riding on you. So just... kill some monsters for me, okay?" They shook hands. Luke patted Grover's head between his horns, then gave a good-bye hug to Annabeth, who looked like she might pass out. The three went to Chiron about stuffs while Luke and I had a staring contest. "So Percy got a present and I only get an I don't know... a hug? Here I thought I was your favorite." "What made you think you are?" He laughed and ruffled my hair. "And no you don't get a hug." "Suddenly I'm not coming back." He smiled and from his back he pulled out a sheathed knife. "I meant to say you won't get only a hug. I noticed you're not a fan of swords. So, I made this my self. I am no Hephaestus child but hey..." He handed me the knife. The sheath was plain colored with a metal chap and locket, it had chains attached to the locket where I could probably put it on something to make sure I bring it with me. Pulling the knife out of the sheath, its knife was around 15 inches. On the blade, Ancient Greek was engraved on it. I think it's my name and the other side is his. "What is this?" I grinned. "I don't know. I ran out of good ideas! I swear I looked up some of Plato and Socrates for that." "And you settled for that?" I laughed. "I am going to take that back now." "Hey, that doesn't mean I don't like it. Thanks." "It's celestial bronze... Half of it at least." "Half?" "I'm sure Chiron won't appreciate it. It will harm both us and humans." "So... It'll hurt both side?" "Yup. And I'm not sure but according to a Hephaestus kid but it's supposed to glow when its near something." "Its not glowing now." "We never said no backsies. I'd like it back now." "I'll take good care of..." I stopped to think of a name and almost immediately remembered a perfect one, "Sting." "I would ask but I already know." Luke shook his head. "Be careful with Sting. It---" "He. Sting is a he, thank you very much." "HE, is lethal. He it can kill us, others close to our kind and normal humans." "Oops I accidentally stabbed myself." With a worried look he pulled me in a hug, "And whatever happens. Put your safety above all. No need to be the hero. If you die in this quest I will get the lord of the dead revive you or kill me." "Ew how sentimental." "Be careful... okay? All of you. Promise me that." "Fine, I promise. On the knife, I'll come back not dead, with everyone." After Luke was gone, I placed the knife on my waist. I went back to Percy. "Okay, that's extremely cool," I heard him say. "What's cool?" I grinned standing behind Percy overlooking his shoulder. "My new pen." He showed me his pen and uncapped it only to show a sword. "I can't loose it no matter what! Its called Riptide." "But what if a mortal sees you pulling out a sword?" Chiron smiled. "Mist is a powerful thing, Y/N." "Mist?" "I just keep hearing that over and over can someone finally explain?" "Yes. Read The Iliad. It's full of references to the stuff. Whenever divine or monstrous elements mix with the mortal world, they generate Mist, which obscures the vision of humans. You will see things just as they are, being a half-blood, but humans will interpret things quite differently. Remarkable, really, the lengths to which humans will go to fit things into their version of reality." Percy put Riptide back in his pocket. For the first time, the quest felt real. We was actually leaving Half-Blood Hill. We was heading west with no adult supervision, no backup plan, not even a cell phone. (Chiron said cell phones were traceable by monsters; if we used one, it would be worse than sending up a flare.) I had no weapon stronger than a knife to fight off monsters and reach the Land of the Dead. "Chiron..." I said. "When you say the gods are immortal... I mean, there was a time before them, right?" "Four ages before them, actually. The Time of the Titans was the Fourth Age, sometimes called the Golden Age, which is definitely a misnomer. This, the time of Western civilization and the rule of Zeus, is the Fifth Age." "So what was it like... before the gods?" Chiron pursed his lips. "Even I am not old enough to remember that, child, but I know it was a time of darkness and savagery for mortals. Kronos, the lord of the Titans, called his reign the Golden Age because men lived innocent and free of all knowledge. But that was mere propaganda. The Titan king cared nothing for your kind except as appetizers or a source of cheap entertainment. It was only in the early reign of Lord Zeus, when Prometheus the good Titan brought fire to mankind, that your species began to progress, and even then Prometheus was branded a radical thinker. Zeus punished him severely, as you may recall. Of course, eventually the gods warmed to humans, and Western civilization was born." "But the gods can't die now, right? I mean, as long as Western civilization is alive, they're alive. So... even if I failed, nothing could happen so bad it would mess up everything, right?" Chiron gave us a melancholy smile. "No one knows how long the Age of the West will last, Percy. The gods are immortal, yes. But then, so were the Titans. They still exist, locked away in their various prisons, forced to endure endless pain and punishment, reduced in power, but still very much alive. May the Fates forbid that the gods should ever suffer such a doom, or that we should ever return to the darkness and chaos of the past. All we can do, child, is follow our destiny." "Our destiny... assuming we know what that is." "Relax," Chiron told me. "Keep a clear head. And remember, you may be about to prevent the biggest war in human history." "Relax," Percy said. "I'm very relaxed." When we got to the bottom of the hill, I looked back. Under the pine tree that used to be Thalia, daughter of Zeus, Chiron was now standing in full horse-man form, holding his bow high in salute. Just your typical summer-camp send-off by your typical centaur. I took Percy's hand and we gave each other a reassuring nod. I wish us luck. Talking whilst at camp drained me. I apologize if I won't be much help. You have stamina? So you aren't a bigshot all powerful god? Without you and I as one. I am nothing. I have given you my everything.
Argus drove us out of the countryside and into western Long Island. It felt weird to be on a highway again, Annabeth and Percy was sitting next to me as if we were normal carpoolers. After two weeks at Half-Blood Hill, the real world seemed like a fantasy. I found myself staring at every McDonald's, every kid in the back of his parents' car, every billboard and shopping mall. "So far so good," Percy said. "Ten miles and not a single monster." She gave him an irritated look. "It's bad luck to talk that way, seaweed brain." "Remind me again—why do you hate me so much?" "I don't hate you." "Could've fooled me." She folded her cap of invisibility. "Look... we're just not supposed to get along, okay? Our parents are rivals." "Why?" She sighed. "How many reasons do you want? One time my mom caught Poseidon with his girlfriend in Athena's temple, which is hugely disrespectful. Another time, Athena and Poseidon competed to be the patron god for the city of Athens. Your dad created some stupid saltwater spring for his gift. My mom created the olive tree. The people saw that her gift was better, so they named the city after her." "They must really like olives." I interjected. "Not you too! You know what? Forget it." "Now, if she'd invented pizza—that I could understand." "I said, forget it!" In the front seat, Argus smiled. He didn't say anything, but one blue eye on the back of his neck winked at me. Traffic slowed us down in Queens. By the time we got into Manhattan it was sunset and starting to rain. Argus dropped us at the Greyhound Station on the Upper East Side, Percy and I didn't let go. Taped to a mailbox was a soggy flyer with Percy's picture on it: HAVE YOU SEEN THIS BOY? He ripped it down before Annabeth and Grover could notice. "They could've at least gotten a better picture." I smirked which caused him to roll his eyes. Argus unloaded our bags, made sure we got our bus tickets, then drove away, the eye on the back of his hand opening to watch us as he pulled out of the parking lot. Grover shouldered his backpack. He gazed down the street in the direction Percy was looking. "You want to know why she married him, Percy?" I stared at Percy then at Grover. "Were you reading my mind or something?" "Just your emotions." He shrugged. "Guess I forgot to tell you satyrs can do that. You were thinking about your mom and your stepdad, right?" Percy nodded. I missed my parents of course, but I had Luke and Grover to talk to which made me less lonely. Percy became an outcast when we got to camp and had no one to talk to. I squeezed his hand and gave him a smile. "Your mom married Gabe for you," Grover told him. "You call him 'Smelly,' but you've got no idea. The guy has this aura.... Yuck. I can smell him from here. I can smell traces of him on you, and you haven't been near him for a week." "Thanks," Percy said. "Where's the nearest shower?" "You should be grateful, Percy. Your stepfather smells so repulsively human he could mask the presence of any demigod. As soon as I took a whiff inside his Camaro, I knew: Gabe has been covering your scent for years. If you hadn't lived with him every summer, you probably would've been found by monsters a long time ago. Your mom stayed with him to protect you. She was a smart lady. She must've loved you a lot to put up with that guy—if that makes you feel any better." I knew what Percy was thinking. He was thinking of the fact we'll get his mom and my parents. How we'll save them all. We got restless waiting for the bus and decided to play some Hacky Sack with one of Grover's apples. Annabeth was unbelievable. She could bounce the apple off her knee, her elbow, her shoulder, whatever. I wasn't too bad myself. The game ended when I tossed the apple toward Grover and it got too close to his mouth. In one mega goat bite, our Hacky Sack disappeared—core, stem, and all. Grover blushed. He tried to apologize, but we were too busy cracking up. Percy pulled me to a corner, after excusing ourselves for a bathroom break. "You finally going to tell me about this quest?" "The truth is," He started. "I don't care about retrieving Zeus's lightning bolt, or saving the world, or even helping my father out of trouble." I gave him a look that reassured him to continue. "The more I thought about it, I resented my father for never visiting me, never helping my mom, never even sending a lousy child-support check. He'd only claimed me because he needed a job done. All I cared about was you and my mom. The underworld god had taken her unfairly, and he is going to give her back." "Percy, we don't even know what's going on. Yeah, he might have her. But what is there's another reason? We don't exactly know anything. I don't even think my parents are with him." "Well, no matter where they are. We will get them back. The least I could do is get them back." He rested his head on my shoulder. "Don't "You will be betrayed by one who calls you a friend," "What?" I froze. "Percy... I would never---" "You will fail to save what matters most in the end." "What are you talking about?" The rain kept coming down. "The rest of the prophecy. Y/N, I don't want you to betray me. Please... don't." I could hear his voice breaking. "Of course I won't. We'll get this quest done. We won't loose anyone and we'll get our parents. Don't worry." I hugged him. "I will stay with you. I won't leave and I won't betray you." "Hey Bonnie and Clyde, we need to go." Finally the bus came. As we stood in line to board, Grover started looking around, sniffing the air. "What is it?" I asked. "I don't know," he said tensely. "Maybe it's nothing." But I could tell it wasn't nothing. I took Percy's hand and started looking over my shoulder, too. I was relieved when we finally got on board and found seats together in the back of the bus. We stowed our backpacks. Annabeth kept slapping her Yankees cap nervously against her thigh. As the last passengers got on, I immediately clamped my hand onto Percy's knee. "Percy." It was Mrs. Dodds. Older, more withered, but definitely the same evil face. I scrunched down in my seat. Behind her came two more old ladies: one in a green hat, one in a purple hat. Otherwise they looked exactly like Mrs. Dodds—same gnarled hands, paisley handbags, wrinkled velvet dresses. Triplet demon grandmothers. And I was now sure, Mrs. Rudolph was one of them. They sat in the front row, right behind the driver. The two on the aisle crossed their legs over the walkway, making an X. It was casual enough, but it sent a clear message: nobody leaves. The bus pulled out of the station, and we headed through the slick streets of Manhattan. "She didn't stay dead long," Percy said, "I thought you said they could be dispelled for a lifetime." "I said if you're lucky," Annabeth said. "You're obviously not." "All three of them," Grover whimpered. "Di immortales!" "Who knows maybe they just want to play?" I said nervously. Annabeth gave me a look of irritation, "Not now," she said, obviously thinking hard. "The Furies. The three worst monsters from the Underworld. No problem. No problem. We'll just slip out the windows." "They don't open," Grover moaned. "A back exit?" she suggested. There wasn't one. Even if there had been, it wouldn't have helped. By that time, we were on Ninth Avenue, heading for the Lincoln Tunnel. "Maybe a nice chat would help?" "They won't attack us with witnesses around," Percy said. "Will they?" "Mortals don't have good eyes," Annabeth reminded him. "Their brains can only process what they see through the Mist." "They'll see three old ladies killing us, won't they?" She thought about it. "Hard to say. But we can't count on mortals for help. Maybe an emergency exit in the roof... ?" We hit the Lincoln Tunnel, and the bus went dark except for the running lights down the aisle. It was eerily quiet without the sound of the rain. Mrs. Dodds got up. In a flat voice, as if she'd rehearsed it, she announced to the whole bus: "I need to use the rest-room." "So do I," said the second sister. "So do I," said the third sister. They all started coming down the aisle. "I've got it," Annabeth said. "Percy, take my hat." "What?" "You're the one they want. Turn invisible and go up the aisle. Let them pass you. Maybe you can get to the front and get away." "But you guys—" "There's an outside chance they might not notice us," Annabeth said. "You're a son of one of the Big Three. Your smell might be overpowering." "I can't just leave Y-- you guys!" "Don't worry about us," I assured him. "Go!" His hands were trembling. But I took the Yankees cap and put it on. And he simply vanished. Mrs. Dodds stopped, sniffing, and looked straight at a spot. My heart was pounding. Apparently she didn't see anything. She and her sisters kept going. "Maybe if they approach us, I could try talking? I really was Mrs. Rudolph's favorite..." I stammered. "Yeah stage is yours." Annabeth answered. The old ladies were not old ladies anymore. Their faces were still the same—I guess those couldn't get any uglier— but their bodies had shriveled into leathery brown hag bodies with bat's wings and hands and feet like gargoyle claws. Their handbags had turned into fiery whips. The Furies surrounded us, lashing their whips, hissing: "Where is it? Where?" The other people on the bus were screaming, cowering in their seats. They saw something, all right. "He's not here!" Annabeth yelled. "He's gone!" The Furies raised their whips. "Don't!" I stepped in front of them shaking. "H-Hi Mrs. Rudolph. W-What could you need?" Annabeth drew her bronze knife. Grover grabbed a tin can from his snack bag and prepared to throw it. To our surprise the bus jerked to the right. Everybody howled as we were thrown to the right, and I heard what I hoped was the sound of three Furies smashing against the windows. "Hey!" the driver yelled. "Hey—whoa!" The bus slammed against the side of the tunnel, grinding metal, throwing sparks a mile behind us. We careened out of the Lincoln Tunnel and back into the rainstorm, people and monsters tossed around the bus, cars plowed aside like bowling pins. Somehow the driver found an exit. We shot off the highway, through half a dozen traffic lights, and ended up barreling down one of those New Jersey rural roads where you can't believe there's so much nothing right across the river from New York. There were woods to our left, the Hudson River to our right, and the driver seemed to be veering toward the river. The bus wailed, spun a full circle on the wet asphalt, and crashed into the trees. The emergency lights came on. The door flew open. The bus driver was the first one out, the passengers yelling as they stampeded after him. The Furies regained their balance. They lashed their whips at Annabeth while she waved her knife and yelled in Ancient Greek, telling them to back off. Grover threw tin cans. It was as if I didn't exist which was kinda offensive. "Hey! I'm also here!" I yelled pulling out my now glowing knife and helped Grover. "Hey!" A voice from the door way echoed. "Percy you idiot! Run!" I yelled. The Furies turned, baring their yellow fangs at him. Mrs. Dodds stalked up the aisle. Every time she flicked her whip, red flames danced along the barbed leather. Her two ugly sisters hopped on top of the seats on either side of her and crawled toward him like huge nasty lizards. I don't know how but I managed to parkour my way to avoid them and get to Percy in no trouble. I raised my knife and stood in between of them. "Perseus Jackson," Mrs. Dodds said, in an accent that was definitely from somewhere farther south than Georgia. "You have offended the gods. You shall die. I suggest you step away from him Y/N L/N." "I liked you better as a math teacher," he told her. She growled. Annabeth and Grover moved up behind the Furies cautiously, looking for an opening. Percy took the ballpoint pen out of his pocket and uncapped it. Riptide elongated into a shimmering double-edged sword. The Furies hesitated. Mrs. Dodds had felt Riptide's blade before. She obviously didn't like seeing it again. "Submit now," she hissed. "And you will not suffer eternal torment." "Nice try," I told her. "Percy, look out!" Annabeth cried. Mrs. Dodds lashed her whip around my sword hand while the Furies on the either side lunged at him. I managed to keep one of them and parried with her using my knife., which turned out to be Mrs. Rudolph. "I hate to admit it but you were my favorite teacher. Why go mean now?!" I struck with the hilt of my knife against her, sending her toppling backward into a seat. I turned to see Percy had sliced the Fury on his right. As soon as the blade connected with her neck, she screamed and exploded into dust. Annabeth got Mrs. Dodds in a wrestler's hold and yanked her backward while Grover ripped the whip out of her hands. "Ow!" he yelled. "Ow! Hot! Hot!" Mrs. Rudolph came at me again, talons ready, but I dove in and got in range to swing Sting at her and she broke open like a piñata. Mrs. Dodds was trying to get Annabeth off her back. She kicked, clawed, hissed and bit, but Annabeth held on while Grover got Mrs. Dodds's legs tied up in her own whip. Finally they both shoved her backward into the aisle. Mrs. Dodds tried to get up, but she didn't have room to flap her bat wings, so she kept falling down. "Zeus will destroy you!" she promised. "Hades will have your soul!" "Braccas meas vescimini!" Percy yelled. I wasn't sure where the Latin came from. I think it meant "Eat my pants!" Thunder shook the bus. The hair rose on the back of my neck. "Get out!" Annabeth yelled at us. "Now!" I didn't need any encouragement. Taking Percy's hand, we rushed outside and found the other passengers wandering around in a daze, arguing with the driver, or running around in circles yelling, "We're going to die!" A Hawaiian-shirted tourist with a camera snapped my photograph before I could recap my sword. "Our bags!" Grover realized. "We left our—" BOOOOOM! The windows of the bus exploded as the passengers ran for cover. Lightning shredded a huge crater in the roof, but an angry wail from inside told me Mrs. Dodds was not yet dead. "Run!" Annabeth said. "She's calling for reinforcements! We have to get out of here!" We plunged into the woods as the rain poured down, the bus in flames behind us, and nothing but darkness ahead.

opinions on riordanverse ; my edition
a lot of people have been doing this so i decided why not right. probably gna lose some followers or smth but anyways. pls respect my opinions! if u disagree, thats fine, but please be polite. unless any of my opinions strikes u as morally wrong then pls point it out to me respectfully. thanks!
- i actually liked drew. im so sorry to everyone who hates her but full offence, why. think about it this way ok, first of all drew became hc because silena died. silena was the traitor, the one who betrayed chb, yet after she died campers celebrated her as a hero? and then drew suddenly has to replace her and live up to idk that legacy she left behind,, when all of a sudden this girl named piper swoops in and takes her place. idk abt u but i wld be salty abt that too. not only that, but as an asian, the chances of drew having faced racism/bullying as a child is pretty high (she studies at brooklyn academy). which means that when she finds out shes a demigod, and arrives at chb where most of the campers are white (this is an assumption btw), she’d obviously be scared of being bullied for her skin color right?? so the first thing she wld do before the campers get to bully her is to bully them before they can do so. (sentence structure here is wack i apologize) ofc this might not even have happened, drew could have had a perfect childhood && was a b1tch for no reason, BUT EVEN THEN HER ROLE AS A BULLY WAS PRETTY VITAL BECAUSE THAT FURTHER SHOWED THE CONTRAST BETWEEN HER AND PIPER,, HIGHLIGHTING PIPER AS A HERO//GOOD CHARACTER,, AND THEREFORE MAKING READERS LIKE PIPER MORE. anyway stop hating on drew please. ALSO WHY IS THIS SO LONGA SDFJHG
- jason isnt bland, the fandom just kinda erased his backstory (thanks to @pjohoo-memes for the phrasing lol)
- reynabeth wouldnt have lasted/would have broken up several times. idk i just see them as two extremely powerful characters who have firm opinions and will definitely clash at some point. in a platonic relationship,, i can see them as really good friends but as lovers? idk i just think theyll break up
- PIPABETH
- i dont really like jercy,, i see them as better friends than lovers. also idt jason and percy were that close..?
- the dam and not my type jokes are srsly cringey and were never funny. ik that seems hypocritical since my username literally makes use of the dam joke but honestly i dont actually like the joke. its not funny to me and has never been funny
- the seven were not best friends. they definitely argued,, and honestly probably werent as close as the fandom makes them seem. like ure dumped with 6 other people, out of which u only know a few. my introverted ass would have jumped off the argo 2 quicker than leo valdez could bomb camp jupiter up. also leo was a dick to frank. so what if frank is bigger sized?? thats not a valid reason to tease him
- the fandom needs to stop hating on octavian while worshipping luke. if u hate luke and u say u hate octavian too, then okay. but if u tell me ure a luke stan but u despise octavian?? imma disagree w u. luke was worse than octavian im sorry. first of all, octavian being a dick was kinda justified. hes been after the praetor position for so long, and everyone keeps saying to “wait for jason” when suddenly this dude, whos a son of NEPTUNE (neptune wasnt liked much by romans), and the camp decides to make him praetor?? dude i would be pissed off big time. and then afterwards, he finds out that greek demigods are real and the dude they made praetor is greek. AND THEN GREEK DEMIGODS COME TO CJ AND ONE OF THEM BOMB IT UP?? octavian has been told all his life that greeks are scum and this dude called leo valdez attacks cj. sure it was an accident, but did octavian know that? no. so it was honestly justified that he was such a salty prick im just saying. also some of yall be hating on octavian for cutting a teddy bear open and thats the funniest shit ive ever heard i swear
- luke didnt go to elysium
- travis and connor stoll r way too underrated. the two have been head counselors of the hermes cabin since luke was revealed as a traitor, can u imagine the stress? luke, the person they probably looked up to as a brother, betrayed them. and they didnt even have time to process this when they were  thrown the roles of being hcs. that would have been so stressful and i would probably have broken down if i were them. the stoll brothers taking turns to wake up at ungodly hours because a new camper is crying and homesick and terrified, the stoll brothers having to comfort and take care of new campers, having to deal with the amount of people in that cramped space because not enough campers are being claimed fast enough. having to resolve issues between campers in the hermes cabin all the time. the stolls arent just comedic relief, and we need to stop treating them as such
- tratie shldve been canon idc idc
- demigods of the demeter cabin arent talked about enough and i love the fact that meg was demeters kid. like she isnt the child of one of the big three yet shes so powerful.
- we need to hype clarisse up more her character arc was phucking amazing
- rachel is overhated. sis found out greek gods exist and regularly come down to earth to fuck around and went “ok cool”. queen shit behavior methinks
- the floor 19 crew of mcga is srsly underrated. like do u even remember halfborn gunderson, mallory keen, tj, etc??? bc i feel like we only remember samirah, magnus, alex, and sometimes blitz and hearthstone
- sadie (tkc) was kinda annoying at first. i like her more now tho but i rmb not liking her for a phat while
- tkc and mcga need more love
- carter kane and jason grace arent boring. theyre just really sweet boys who are too good for this world and yes yes yes
- hazel and frank (especially frank) need to be hyped up more. i hardly ever see anything about them. also yall seem to forget that frank was literally made praetor and that even hecate admired hazel and was willing to fight beside her because of how powerful she was
- frazels age gap is kinda sketch but i still think theyre really cute
- nico definitely had trauma from going to tartarus on his own
- GROVER IS PERCYS BEST FRIEND
- annabeth isnt smarter than leo but neither is leo smarter than annabeth. ive seen a lot of discussions about who is smarter and heres my hot take on it: neither. theyre equally smart, just in different ways. leos a genius mathematically speaking. he has no issues solving math problems meant for people much, much older than him. annabeth on the otherhand, is great at strategies etc. she can make an army of 1000 more powerful than the enemy, even if theyre outnumbered. so in my opinion, both are equally as smart//u cant compare their intelligence, because their talents lie in two different areas.
- while i do agree rick riordan isnt a god and that hes bound to make mistakes,, AND that hes given us a lot of representation,, if the representation offends the people its sposed to represent, then theres a problem. im talking about piper as a poc and wearing feathers in her hair. im not a poc, so i cant speak for them on whether or not its wrong, because i dont know either. HOWEVER, i have seen multiple posts BY pocs talking about how they didnt really like rick’s representation of piper, and thats an issue. pocs have been and are still oppressed and discriminated against by many. as a white cis man, we cant really blame him for not knowing (tho he could have done a research,, asked some pocs,, idk), but by representing pocs in that manner, hes influencing impressionable kids/teens into thinking “oh pocs wear feathers in their hair all the time” etc, which isnt true. the pjo/hoo series is extremely successful, and kids who read the books will probably start forming inaccurate opinions on pocs. the amount of fan art that depicts piper with feathers in her hair dont help either. “but rick said so in the books, so its canon” yeah well rick isnt a god and he can get some things wrong at times. im not saying we should cancel him, im saying we should start educating ourselves and not spread false info like pocs wearing feathers in their hair all the time. also that snake song shit where she sang Summertime was just- yeah. bc heres the thing you can be racist, and still include minorities, but portray them in a racist way. And even then, ignorance isn't a thing to admire. Getting those facts wrong still has a major impact. It continues to perpetuate racist stereotypes.
“ With the feather thing, I looked it up myself; it takes less than five minutes to figure out that Cherokees don't braid feathers into their hair. I didn't grow up in the country where my parents are from. I have many other first/second generation American friends who have also been through that, with a bit of a disconnect from their culture. But something that most of us have in common is that when we didn't know something, and when our parents weren't that big of a help, we looked it up. We sought out resources online and through other people from our culture to be able to connect more with where we came from. Some of that took a Google search. So I find it hard to believe that Piper, a girl who Rick's trying to portray as someone who is attempting to connect with her culture and is totally against racist stereotypes, wouldn't know that eagle feathers aren't supposed to be braided into your hair casually. She may be disconnected from her culture, but she's also shown to want to connect back to it. Piper wouldn't be casually braiding feathers into her hair while also telling off people for being racist. It makes no sense.” - reddit thread (down below)
for those of yall who wanna know more please please read this, it has a lot of things i wanna add in here : https://www.reddit.com/r/camphalfblood/comments/gy3gl2/piper_mcleans_portrayal_is_innacurate/
as well as https://finding-my-culture.tumblr.com/post/189422373260/maxie-ratties-and-cattie-finding-my-culture
i will be posting screenshots of these in future posts so if ure viewing this on ig and u dont have tumblr,, dont worry
- the fact that most of the strong female characters in the series refuse to be “girly”, and ngl i dont really like that. just because ure girly doesnt mean u cant be strong.
- piper would have been a great way for him to start making the strong characters act girlier, but instead he went with the “I’m not like other girls” trope which is quite obnoxious to hear constantly, and I don’t think it’s necessarily great for younger girls to read that idea growing up.  the closest we've ever had to a strong female character who was also into "girly" things was Silena. when I was younger I admired Piper's "I'm not like other girls" thing, but then I got older and realized that the whole mentality of "not like other girls" is super obnoxious, and a little bit toxic
i have a heck load more that i cant rmb rn but yeah feel free to add more

In an adaptation/rewrite of tlo I have some changes I'd like to make. Aside from the obvious. And I really like this book, it's my favourite from the main series, but it needs some updating!
**********
Firstly in order to fix The Last Olympian we need to fix some things in The Battle of The Labyrinth.
I want Beckendorf to have a bigger role in this book. He was introduced in the second book, but here is where he could really shine as a son of Hephaestus This whole quest is about his dad! He should be able to get more screen time in this story so that we can care about him on his own merits instead of as one of Percy's friends or the tragic love interest. For that, I think he should be a part of the questing trio.
"But what about Grover!"
What about Grover? He has his own reasons for going into the labyrinth, he doesn't need permission from Chiron to look for Pan. He's a smart boy with some brains, he can see the maze as a lead and go in after them on his own. This also creates the same conundrum of Threes that came up in the book before, which we'll come back to later. Percy can intrust Tyson's care to one of the other demigods set up to be his friend in TLO: Michael Yew to establish their friendship and trust, Lee Fletcher to give him some purpose besides dying, the Stolls to once again affirm that the Hermes cabin takes on responsibility for other campers, ect. When Tyson later sneaks off into the Labyrinth after Percy, this sets up a later conflict that establishes whatever choice more. This also fixes something else that's always bothered me, which is that it kind of felt that Percy only truly accepted Tyson once he showed how useful he was. Plus he always seemed to feel responsible for him. By having Percy take the time to make sure Tyson is being taken care of outside of his talents, that establishes more concretely how much Percy cares about him as a brother without painting him as a burden.
So Charlie goes on this quest and sticks it through to the forges. Grover in this version still goes off with Tyson for that sweet sweet character development, but the questing party stays at three. It's here that the parallels set in, because in being burned alive by the volcano and being yeeted to Calypso, Percy is not only saving Annabeth but also Charlie. Saving him from certain death by explosion and flame. It does have the unfortunate side effect of there being TWO incidents of Percabeth having emotional kisses in front of their friends, but we can fix this by having Charlie fight a Telkinhein or something it's fine. Beckendorf drops out of the main story from here to make way for Rachel but he still has one good scene of protecting camp at the end. Plus, I want him to be present when Amnabeth tells Hera she only cares about perfect families and I want him there to defend his dad.
So for those counting that makes three counts of narrative consistency stacked against Charlie's life (which makes a lot more sense than just killing him off because you needed a martyr). With this we go into The Last Olympian.
I wouldn't change much about the plot line from here on out. We have the setup of Charlie returning the favour to Percy by saving his life, we get some sweet last scenes of him being a demigod and a hero, the setup to TLO is bomb and it's fine. I'd like more scenes with Michael because if you're gonna set a character up to be front and center then kill him off you could at least give him more than 35 lines.
What I do want to make a point of here though is that Percy lives in BoTL. What happens to Beckendorf specifically from that moment doesn't actually matter so long as it makes a big enough impact on Selina to drive her to reach the conclusions that she does. He could live or die or be yeeted to Calypso, lose a limb or two, it doesn't matter so long as he's put down for the count for the rest of the book. Percy lived, and the rule of threes doesn't actually make an impact again outside of Bianca's death (because if it did someone should have died in Sea of Monsters but they didn't). So I like to think he lives, but I'd be more ok with him dying in this scenario than I was in canon.
However on to Selina, who still needs to die. And it's at this point that I will make people angry by saying that I think Charlie's impact on her is much more meaningful if they were best friends instead of dating. I want a scene in the earlier books where this is established so that we know that they are close. And I want them to be friends because the point of Silena's ark should be that she hurt her friends and she feels awful about putting them in danger and got them killed, not that she's changing herself for a man (or dying for one that's possibly still alive). I just think this would be much more powerful if romance wasn't the main emotion involved.
That being said I want her to be 50% gayer for Clarisse because we were given Patroclus and Achilles parallels with girls and by GD they will be gay. I will stand for nothing less. I want them to have a relationship that's established at the end of BoTL in the background and I want it officiated in TLO because if you're going to compare them to one of the great mythic queer relationships of antiquity then they WILL BE QUEER.
Again it would be neat if Michael lived because the alternative is that Percy killed his friend and then never talked about it again and it's never brought up again and it just exists as a thing everyone quietly knows until he snaps in Tartarus. Which I'm not saying that having that conversation instead wouldn't be cool, but the ending kiss is very iconic and I don't think that strong of a tone shift could work.
Now I want Ethan to live not because I'm bitter and not because almost every person of colour dies in the main series but for one very important reason. Through the entire series, every time we see him, Ethan never actually did anything wrong. He was forced to fight in the arena by Luke, he didn't directly hurt or kill anyone, in fact he's never actually aggressive in any of his later appearances. Yeah he joined Khronos, sure, but it's not like he had any other options. That was his tragedy. Ethan was a son of a minor goddess, a goddess usually seen as evil by other demigods to boot, who was neglected and mistreated by the place that was meant to keep him safe. He had to join Luke because the alternative was being killed or recruited anyway. And he didn't deserve to die for it, the price of his redemption was never that steep. It makes much more sense for Ethan to return to camp and have a hand in rebuilding it with his own hands and making amends for the minor gods with his own power. His fatal flaw was the desire for justice at any means, him being killed when he's so close to freedom and respect doesn't jive with that.
Additional notes:
- The romantic subplot between Annabeth and Luke was creepy and we didn't need it. He was a big brother figure to her, that's enough betrayal drama on its own.
- In general we need more canon ethnicities. In a TV adaptation this is easier obviously, but honestly we shouldn't have to assume things based on names or how little they're described. We should just get to know.

Star Wars x Percy Jackson
Okay so this was a LOT harder then I thought it was going to be on the account that literally everyone in the GFFA is related to one another. So for the sake of my sanity (and yours) let’s just assume that no one is related so I can figure out what kriffing Olympian attributed to them (also we are keeping them all Greek to save me that headache)
Also to keep my sanity I split everyone up by Trilogy/TV Show so just assume each each are a new generation (with some overlapping)--
Also I’m not doing everyone because there is way too many kriffing characters so get ready for highlights and personal favorites. If you have anyone to add, comment or feel free to add! (Last “also”, promise! I stuck mostly with the big twelve to, you guessed it, preserve my sanity!)
Prequels:
Yoda is from Dionysus cabin--FIGHT ME ON THIS. I could not figure out why he talks like he does and came to the conclusion is he is definitely “drunk” on Kool-Aid. Also I like the idea of him growing vines and plants because of Dagoba. He is a camp councilor that’s been around for longer than anyone can remember by Chiron likes him well enough.
Mace is a child of Hades. ... I honestly don’t know why, but as soon as that image popped into my head I accepted it. Maybe it’s because of his stoic personality or maybe the fact he fights in a very angry style, to which I say, “skeletons ripping up from the earth”.
Qui-Gon-- for some bizarre reason the idea of Hypnos popped into my head and I now I cannot get it to leave me alone. So Qui is from Hypnos cabin. He gets a lot of sleep and even more visions of the future (such as a very powerful half-blood coming to camp and he’s now determined to find that kid)
Obi-Wan was tricky. I debated between a lot of cabins and none of them seemed to work for him. I finally settled on Hephaestus, which seems weird but let me explain. Obi-Wan feels like someone who would totally be into arts and crafts, if he could have. Hephaestus cabin usually has a good head and are quite smart
Anakin is from Zeus Cabin. Did you expect anything less? This kid is Mr. Lightning summoning, sword wielding, insane power with way too many emotions. (It was either that or Hephaestus but... “Chosen One” and all that)
Padme is 100% from Athena cabin. That’s it. Fight me.
Palpatine is a weird one because I’d usually just make him a monster or something like a Titan but... eh. I’m going Hermes because this boy knows how to lie and trick people (a lot like Luke, now that I think about it...). A friend of mine also suggested the child of Nemesis, the goddess of Revenge which could also work so pick your pick.
R2-D2 and C-3PO are satyrs. Very annoying, very loud, satyrs. 3PO goes on and on about the importance of nature and R2 follows behind him creating his own form of chaos. Most people avoid them.
Clone Wars:
Ahsoka is also from Athena cabin. I just like to picture her fighting with two knives and flipping around like a gymnast. But she’s more chill then Ares cabin--although she does love hanging out with those boys. She’s unofficially adopted by Ares cabin as a sister in arms so that’s cool.
Ares Cabin just consists of all the clones, okay? It was either that or Hermes but I just couldn’t imagine my boys without their military structure. Cody’s head of the cabin and has to try and keep all of his siblings in line-- very poorly, but he’s doing his best.
Satine is in Demeter Cabin. I wasn’t sure where else to put a pacifist but I thought it suited her well enough. Ex-girlfriend of Obi-Wan but they are on friendly terms (and there is a running bet on when they will get back together)
Rebels:
Kanan was really hard to figure out. I decided to make him Poseidon’s kid because he’s usually really chill in the show. For the most part, he’s really laid back and doesn’t use any water abilities unless he has too. Prefers to fight with a sword, but can use a crossbow surprising well. Has a street kid background so he gets along with the Hermes cabin really well and has kind of “adopted” one of the kids there (three guesses as to who)
Hera has to fly, okay? She has to be able to fly either a Pegasus or actually fly which leaves either Zeus, Apollo, or Poseidon as the main picks, which I don’t think any of those scream Hera. In fact, flip them, she’s a mortal that see’s through the Mist. She somehow got dragged into this world of monsters and demi-gods and is now chilling at the camp just for the heck of it. It may or may not have had something to do with her now-Boyfriend Kanan who may or may not have been on a quest at the time when he accidently destroyed her apartment because of a stupid hellhound.
Ezra is in Hermes cabin. This tiny little thief is wonderful and is a cute little blueberry. Kanan kind of unofficially adopted the kid so Ezra is usually drenched from swimming in the lake.
Zeb is from Athena cabin. Very skilled with a staff and very into battle meditation. Not super into the “intelligent” side of Athena, but he is in no way an idiot. Get’s into a lot of trouble with Ezra because why not?
Sabine I could totally see being the child of Apollo, but she joined Artemis Huntresses (maybe out of spite to her Dad but also because a bunch of warrior women? Heck, yeah!). Very artsy, excellent shot with a bow, and is much, much cooler then her dad.
Chopper is a very lazy, very stubborn Hellhound, fight me on this (and may have been the Hellhound Kana was fighting when he met Hera, but he’s now attached to this strange mortal woman who literally told off these two for destroying her house).
Original:
Luke was almost a child of the big three (specifically Hades for some bizarre reason--don’t ask me why, I don’t know how my brain got on that) but then I remembered that Hecate was a thing soooooo... Luke Skywalker, the son of Hecate, goddess of magic. He manipulates the mist and stuff like that. Also likes to fly Pegasi.
Leia... okay, this is going to sound really weird but I kind of see Leia as a child of Aphrodite. Not obsessed with how she looks and all that stuff, but more like Piper. Very strong willed, determined, and keeps your attention. She fights for what she believes in (loves) and can kick butt. It was either that or Athena but... eh, let’s turn that on it’s side, shall we?
Han is Hermes. What did you expect?
Chewbacca is a satyr. I don’t know if you expected any differently, but I’m picturing Coach Hedge just not... insane. Very much likes to fight monsters and is very protective of Han.
Lando is... tricky. I’m going to go with Dionysus simply because of the party factor, but don’t cross him. He can mess you up.
Sequels:
Rey is unclaimed. She chills in Hermes cabin and has no idea who her Godly parent is... which she mopes about a lot. ((I literally could not figure out who’s daughter she would be because that’s kind of the whole Trilogy. And then it hit me like an out of control Pegasus.))
Poe is from Apollo cabin and can usually be found on a Pegasus. His favorite is nicknamed BB and is white with “orange” spots. Very good at flying and shooting a bow at the same time. Yes, he’s a show off and yes, he’s very good in a fight.
Finn is in Ares cabin. But he’s more like Frank in the sense of he’s definitely nicer then most of his cabinmates. Excellent fighter but does not have that stupid Ares temper... most days (don’t cross Finn or he will mess you up)
Rose gets to be a child of Hephaestus. She’s smart and is an engineer, simple as that.
Kylo/Ben is in Aphrodite cabin simply because I want him there. He’s prissy, full of himself, and a jerk and if that isn’t Aphrodite, I don’t know what is (I’m sorry, I just hated Aphrodite in the books and Kylo was kind of a “meh” character soooooooooo...)

Bring On The Monsters
a/n: I wasn’t going to spend too much time on domestic Luke, I was gonna get right into HOO but @scammedbyanigerianonline made an excellent comment on Bring On The Real World (pt2) about Luke facing the most fearsome monster, a Karen, and I loved it so much I wrote a fic about it. This is dedicated to them.
Y’all, comment things! I have basic plot points I’m going to cover, but I love the takes other people have and if it doesn’t conflict with my outline I can probably write a little scene based on it- that’s the beauty of this format. I’ll always give credit if it’s your comment that sparks a fic.
Read the others!: Masterlist
It had been a couple weeks since Percy and his family took Luke in. He learned the transit systems quickly, had taken to studying for his learners permit, and had been adamant about doing his chores, trying to stay on Sally’s good side.
It was nearly 6pm when Luke came through the doorway, looking visibly distraught.
Percy glanced over from the game he was playing- a birthday gift from Paul -and paused it, watching Luke with growing concern. “What happened to you?” He raised his eyebrow.
“Percy, you can never escape monsters, no matter what kind of life you live.” He told him seriously, collapsing on the couch beside him.
Percy’s eyebrows rose. “You fought a monster?” He asked incredulously. “You should’ve called me, I would’ve come for backup.”
“Humans are the worst monsters,” He muttered, closing his eyes. “Keto, what in Hades name is keto?”
Percy was confused. “It’s like, a diet plan or something, I don’t know.” Percy shrugged. “Why?”
Luke sat up, getting ready to recount the encounter. “Some lady came in, and asked about keto and I don’t know anything about it and that’s what I told her but I’d been the one stocking the shelves and I never saw anything that said keto and she sat there and shouted at me, calling me disrespectful, asking to speak to my manager, but Chloe was on lunch and I told her that but she just kept yelling.” Luke nearly exploded with the story, slumping back into his seat. “At this point I think I’d rather be fighting a minotaur or something, it’s ridiculous.” He massaged his temples.
“Oh, you definitely fought a monster today,” Percy mused, trying to keep a straight face.
Luke looked up at him confused. “You think? The mist was strong then, because she definitely looked human.”
“Yeah, you fought one of the biggest monsters of our generation, they’re awful,” Percy paused for effect. “A Karen.”
“You mean a Kraken?” Luke asked, confused. “Isn’t that the huge squid from that movie you made me watch?”
“No, not a kraken,” Percy thought about it. “Though that would be cool and we could definitely tag team that one into defeat, but no, a Karen.”
Luke was lost, and the look on his face showed it. Percy burst out laughing. “Man, you know, a Karen? They’re the people who treat employees like shit because they live by the mantra ‘The Customer Is Always Right’. They’re basically assholes who defend their assholery because they don’t think they do anything wrong.” Percy continued.
Luke thought about it for a moment, mulling over the definition. “Like Mr. D.” He said without thinking.
Percy, who had just managed to calm down, burst into another fit of laughter, holding his stomach. “Yeah, exactly like Mr. D,” he gasped for breath between fits of laughter.
Luke quirked a small smile and shook his head. “I’m going to take a shower.” He got up off the couch.
“Hey, did that girl come back today?” Percy smirked, his eyes on the screen.
Luke tripped over his feet. “Girl? What girl?” He looked at Percy with wide eyes.
Of course he knew which girl Percy meant, the girl from his first day that asked about the cherry sours, she came in at least twice a week. Percy had been insistent that Luke try and talk to her, but he was pretty content with doing not that, and instead just pretended his didn’t notice her unless she asked him where something was.
“That girl that you were pretending not to look at when I met you at the store a couple days ago,” Percy rolled his eyes.
Luke shook his head. “I’m taking a shower,” He announced again.
“Luke’s got a cruuuuuush,” Percy teased.
“I’ll run you through with my blade if you don’t shut up!” Luke called back, heading into the bathroom.
“I’ll tell mom that you brought your sword out without permission.” Percy threatened.
Luke popped his head out and glared. “You wouldn’t.”
Percy paused the game. “Try me.”
Luke huffed and went into the bathroom, closing the door.
“That’s what I thought.” Percy mumbled to himself, starting the game again.

the titans curse reread thoughts im emo
this was my favorite book during the youth and i reread it the most out of the series and coming back to it and coming back to nico ... felt like coming home. i just love this book
the thalia-percy power struggle!! WHAT we deserve!!!!! i loved every single second of it; their fight after the capture the flag, losing Annabeth, etc.
there was a LOT of foreshadowing of nico and bianca and i just feel like [eye emoji] that i didn’t get it when i was young. nico said in the first few chapters ‘wouldnt it be cool if you could be resurrected after you die and keep fighting’ then bianca banishing the skeleton soldiers then bianca picking out the gold in the junkyard
i once again want to point out the importance of the luke-annabeth-thalia family unit, which drives the whole plot
when i was little, i didn’t care for or against bianca and i loved her in general but as an adult i resent her for joining the hunt? it felt so. selfish of her? which i can see though as a hades trait as well but still. but her death was also written so poignant.
same thing with zoe; the whole book focuses on making zoe old (her thee/thy speech, her timelessness, references to immortality, then the fact she knew hercules) that her demise is so...shocking? and everything “i can see the stars again my lady” “live through the stars” how zoe also used to say the stars were clearer...
also the weight of the world was also written beautifully
and i was also really moved by thalia and luke’s fight. the clashes of lightning and thalia’s tears (also motivated by thalia’s want to trust luke / similar interests as she was tempted by bessie).
THEN when thalia had the chance to kill luke, she hesitated and annabeth stepped in truly showing how broken the family unit between them has become which can later be paralleled to the last olympian climax when percy has a choice, annabeth interferes, and luke makes his choice.
overall, the climax battle made me shed a few tears with thalia-luke’s battle, the brokenness of thalia-luke-annabeth, percy holding the world, zoe’s death and in addition to bianca and nico’s tragedies which i think is why this book struck me so much today still and as a kid
this book also sets the stage of the seriousness of the overall pjo climax by showing the broken thalia-luke-annabeth family unit
also annabeth was going to tell percy things (one at the school nico and bianca were at then at the end of book) but idk what they are ? am i dumb
very well paced and so witty and engaging with emotional ups and downs (bianca’s death to the dam snackbar to thalia’s emotional meltdown) and it’s the first time death is truly introduced in these series which is why it moves the pjo series into another level
ALSO percy’s change from being angry/embarrassed all the time to accepting in the conclusion (angry at sallys new boyfriend to again loving his mom and supporting her)
tldr; i cried and its still one of the best books rick has written, the best book in the series sans the last olympian and nico’s home

( Warning: This is a very long and ranty post. If you’re not curious, I totally get it and you can scroll past it or block it.)
@blacksunlover6
This post serves as a follow-up post for anyone curious about what I posted last night, about something happening that hurts your feelings in a way which isn’t serious enough for it to matter. I took the time to sleep on what happened, and yeah it does still upset me, so here’s the full story below. I accept that I was maybe in the wrong about it, but I just wanted to vent if anyone wanted to listen/read.
Firstly what I meant when I said that it was a small thing is that it is an interaction I had with members of the RPC, and a lot of the people I know IRL and would like to talk to about it ( my girlfriend, family, friends, etc.) don’t really know about the RPC and they mean well but they’re very much logic based people and probably wouldn’t understand why it makes me so upset. I understand and acknowledge that issues with the RPC are pretty first world and small in the grand scheme of things
When I said it trapped me in a loop it was my problem at the end of the day. I have a very hard time letting things go, and things get under my skin. I am definitely the most sensitive person in my friend group, and I have had to learn sometimes that I won’t be getting an apology from people all the time, and so I have to try and learn to let things go and break the loop on my own.
I have a lot of issues with the RPC in general, and I’m not always the best at articulating things and the issues I have. This is a rant post, and very likely not the most put together. The situation that happened left me very confused and frustrated, and I’m not sure that I understand it fully anyways, so if you have any thoughts on it I’ll listen and maybe I am wrong about all this like I said. With all of that said here’s what happened
One of my hobbies is to RP for a lot of the fandoms that I’m in. I mostly RP at Wattpad ( but I don’t feel comfortable sharing my Wattpad and I won’t be sharing the Wattpad with anyone involved in this story, I would feel uncomfortable doing it).
My thoughts on Rp in general is that it has to be a collaboration. Neither of you are going to get the perfect verse that you want, at least that happens very rarely. There has to be a back and forth respect and collaboration when it comes to things like ships, changes to the world and to the timeline, and things like that. But I do have one pretty solid line in the sand when it comes to RP: “ If someone’s OC is involved, you do not have the right to speak over their desires for the OC, and what they tell you about their OC is factually true: It is their creation.”
Anyways one of the fandoms I started to RP for lately was Percy Jackson and the Olympians, and I have an OC for the series named Hokuto. I don’t want to info dump about him but the very basics on him if it helps anyone understand the story better-
Hokuto is Asian-American, and the son of Ares and a mortal woman named Sakura. Once Ares left the family, Sakura threw herself back into competitions to try and attract Ares back, and Hokuto was left alone, until he ran away, meeting Luke, Thalia and Annabeth, and going to Camp Half-Blood with them, until Thalia turned into a tree, and when she came back and joined the Hunters he had some abandonment issues pop up, and other things.
I had been speaking with someone on Wattpad for awhile and planning a group RP with a few people, and planning how to make it all work with our OC’s and adding them to the story. All of us had decided on an order to present our OC’s in, and I ended up being the last to go, and I have to say they all had really cool concepts for OC’s, and I was excited to have Hokuto bounce off them, and work on this world
In the canon of Percy Jackson, Thalia ends up joining a group called the Hunters, and swearing off romance. I had in mind that depending on how the RP went either Thalia could leave the Hunters to be with Hokuto ( In canon I believe people have left before? This might be an error on my part) or with the two of them acknowledging there could have been a romance between the two of them, but the two of them have gone in different paths in life, and it’s too late for them to be with each other.
So I was….surprised and hurt in a way when they began to say they weren’t interested in the concept, and more than that, downright hostile in a way to me. ( Like I said I don’t feel comfortable sharing my Wattpad or theirs, and I don’t have screenshots of the messages) And I tried to defend myself against some of them and explain the dynamic I wanted for Hokuto and Thalia. Here are a couple of the things they said, and how I tried to defend myself
‘ The two of them are toxic to each other’- Yes Hokuto and Thalia don’t always get along with each other, and they have a hard time speaking with each other. But the two of them are teenagers, and teenagers aren’t always perfect communicators. Hokuto and Thalia also have an extremely deep bond with each other, and a care is always what underlines their fights, and some of their pettier moments, they love each other at the end of the day
‘ Hokuto is a boring wangst character’- Yes, Hokuto does have a dark backstory, dealing with survivor’s guilt, abandonment issues, a guilty complex and self-esteem issues. But the point of his character is that he’s working to be more than all of those things, and he’s trying to be better. And as it is, PJO as a series has explored all of those themes with different characters, and so it’s not as though it would be entirely new or out of place
‘ Having Thalia leave the Hunters to be with Hokuto is heteronormative’- I guess I don’t have a response to this one. That’s why I said that Hokuto and Thalia I would like at the very least to acknowledge they could have a romantic relationship with each other, but that door has closed to them, but they were unwilling to do even that. This one in particular frustrates me because several of them shipped Thalia with a character named Reyna, and one of them had written a fic centered around Thalia and Reyna together, with Thalia leaving the Hunters to be with Reyna, and I don’t understand why her leaving isn’t considered unhealthy for that.
This went on for a little bit, and in the end, all of them said they would no longer RP with me, and they would be advising other people they knew about me to block me, and not RP, before I was then blocked by them.
It’s not a big deal in the scheme of things. It’s really not. But the situation frustrates me, upsets me, and honestly it still does. Like I said in my initial post, what they did is not serious enough it merits an apology, but it made me feel really shitty, and I am bitter about it, and I know that I have to choose to let it go on my own, and just move past it.
Hokuto is a character I worked really hard on, and I thought and think he is a cool character, and his dynamic with Thalia, at least the way I pictured it was fun and I wanted to do it. But I instead had to defend my OC and the potential ship to people who honestly just seemed dead set on fighting against it.
If anyone does understand why Hokuto was such a problem for them or has their own problem: Please please let me know, I just don’t understand.
And for everyone else: If you do RP, please just communicate with people, and do not speak over them about the visions they have for their OC

Story
Lucy is a nineteen year old daughter of Ares. She was born to Talia Cohen. Her mother died during childbirth, leaving her to her grandfather. When he first saw her, he screamed, yelling about the devil, and fled, claoming he would not take her. She was born with red eyes, like the devil, as her grandfather said. Her mother had no other family, so she was placed into the system. She had been given the name Lucy by one of the nurses from when she was born. As noone had given her a name, it was decided that Lucy, inspired by Lucifer due to her grandfather's reaction. and due to her eyes, would be perfect.
She bounced back and forth between homes, never staying too long due she was labeled a problem child. No one wanted to help the kid who freaked everyone out, that no one wanted. They let her struggle in school, and when she didn’t behave like they wanted, she was sent away again.
This continued on for years, no one ever really believing in her. Except for one person. In her fifth grade year, she had a teacher who didn’t believe what everyone else said, but instead tried to really see her. She was the first person ever to tell her that she was good, that she was kind, and that she was loved. Lucy still holds on to these memories, she uses them as reminders when she spirals, and when she needs to be reminded that she is good. She tries to live up to her former teachers belief in her, and uses her as the memory to drive her towards remaining a nice person.
When she was 14, she was in a home in Virginia Beach. When she was walking home from school with one of the older children from the home when they were attacked by a monster. The other child revealed themselves to be sent from Camp Halfblood, and that they were here to bring her to camp.
She has been at camp Halfblood since, and is a year rounder. She has never tried to return to the 'real world'. Instead she stays at camp, and apparently occasionally, even fights in legitimate wars. During this war, she comes to the realization that she can raise fallen enemies to fight with her. That was a crazy ability that she didn't realize she was capable of before the war, and 3 months later, is still trying to process.
Wanted Connections
Family in everything but name: these are Lucy’s closest friends here at camp. They are the ride or die friends, and they always have each other’s backs.
Pinterest: https://pin.it/7KNCY8z
Adventurers live on forever: these are the ones that Lucy has gone on quests with, or even does just general adventures around camp with.
Pinterest: https://pin.it/5eBUyo0
Cheaters never win: This is someone that Lucy opened her heart to, and really felt she loved, until she found them with someone else. It has been about a year now, but she is still out for blood, holding out for her revenge.
Pinterest: https://pin.it/3bl7zz5
Forgive your enemies but never forget their names: Everyone has got to have some sort of enemy, right? Now Lucy has plenty of people in the past that make fun of her, but her and this person are legitimately at each other’s throats.
Pinterest: https://pin.it/3TODMLU
If your life is going to be short, do dumb things: these are the crackhead friends. Like Lucy and then get into trouble when they are together. They are the prank era, the partiers, they just want to live loud and wild while they can.
Pinterest: https://pin.it/3TODMLU
In the dark of night, clarity is found: When lucy can not sleep, she tries to sneak out and walk at night around the camp. This is a person who she started to see as well, and often they walk in silence, but sometimes this person gets to see the real Lucy, hidden by her loud exterior.
Pinterest: https://pin.it/18It3rC
Kindling a new flame; Lucy doesn’t know how it happened, but she somehow has found herself crushing over someone again. Lucy gets all embarrassed around this person, and she just wants to hold their hand. This can be one sided or reciprocated.
Pinterest: https://pin.it/3WH03Fe
Once I idolized you, now I despise you: Imagine like Percy and Nico, Annabeth and Luke kinda thing. This is someone that Lucy used to look up to when she came to camp. She followed this person around, and was attached to them. They could do no wrong in her eyes.. until they did. Now she can barely even look at them. She is hurt and broken up inside.
Pinterest: https://pin.it/u2dXuvp
Sour little lemon: This is some person who just won't leave her alone. Like she has no interest in this person, but they won’t leave her alone. Kinda like a Gaston Belle situation.
Pinterest: https://pin.it/24HvjNp
Whoever said words don’t hurt lied: Lucy tries really hard to get most people to like her, and while people are nicer here at camp, you still always have those people who see the eyes and her name and go to the devil and make fun of her. She says it doesn’t hurt, that she is used to it, but that is a bold faced lie.

For the question game - Obi-Wan Kenobi, Katara, Thor, and Annabeth Chase.
Thanks! :D
Obi-Wan:
Sexuality Headcanon: I headcanon him as asexual. As far as romance goes, I guess I see him as hetero but I am open to other headcanons.Gender Headcanon: Male, but I like the idea of gender maybe meaning different things in the Star Wars universe. Like maybe they express/think about their gender way differently than we do.A ship I have with said character: Satine! They’re my OTPA BROTP I have with said character: Anakin, Ahsoka, and Bail OrganaA NOTP I have with said character: Taria or whatever her name is from that one book. The worst example of a self-insert character I have ever come across. I’m also not too big on the Obi-Wan/Padme ship. It creeps me out to think of Obi-Wan dating his best friend’s wife. He and Padme would never do that to Anakin. Also, I can’t stand Obi-Wan/Darth Maul. It’s just so bad on so many levels.A random headcanon: I like the idea that he had some cool adventures in the desert while looking after Luke on Tatooine.General Opinion over said character: I like him a lot, he’s a very kind soul who happened to have a lot of tragic things happen to him.
Katara:
Sexuality Headcanon: StraightGender Headcanon: FemaleA ship I have with said character: AangA BROTP I have with said character: Sokka, their sibling relationship was very sweet and realistic. I also like her friendship with Toph and later on her friendship with Zuko.A NOTP I have with said character: I never liked her with Jet. Also, any ship involving siblings, though luckily I have never seen her shipped with Sokka.A random headcanon: I feel like she must have been pretty involved in politics at one point in her life, acting as sort of a delegate between the North and South Water Tribes and maybe even representing them to other nations. I also think she became a renowned and respected waterbending teacher, teaching both healing and fighting.General Opinion over said character: She’s a very nuanced and well-written character.
Thor:
Sexuality Headcanon: PansexualGender Headcanon: I think the Asgardians see gender way different than we do. That being said I think that, for the most part, he identifies as male, but there have definitely been times when he experimented with gender.A ship I have with said character: Thor/Bruce. I love this ship.A BROTP I have with said character: Loki, Valkyrie, Steve, HeimdallA NOTP I have with said character: Loki. Adopted siblings are still siblings.A random headcanon: Not so much a headcanon since this comes from Norse mythology, but I totally think the Thor dressing up as a bride story happened in the MCU verse. Even after he got his hammer back, he wears the wedding dress for several days because he just looks so darn good in it.General Opinion over said character: Tbh Thor might be my favorite Avenger now. His character arc has been so good and I just really love watching him and seeing him interact with the other characters. Chris Hemsworth is underrated as an actor I think. Honestly guys, I like Annabeth as much as the next person. She’s strong, a gifted strategist, a great fighter, a fantastic leader and so much more.
But at some point people kind of... exaggerate all this. Like when they considered her the leader of the quest of the Seven only because of this: ”In an awkward moment, the two boys tried to sit in the same chair at the head of the table. Sparks literally flew from Jason’s hands. After a brief silent standoff, like they were both thinking, Seriously, dude?, they ceded the chair to Annabeth and sat at opposite sides of the table.”
This quest didn’t have one leader. Actually, there isn’t just one leader in none of the PJO or HoO books. Everybody has their own gifts and none of the Seven is that self-conceited to forcefully take charge. They let whoever is more experienced in a certain domain to take charge. There wasn’t one leader on Argo II, not Annabeth, not Percy or Jason, not even Leo who build the thing. They took turns, because each of them was an important part of the quest.
Also, people make it to look like Annabeth is the brains and like all Percy does is take stupid risks and never think about consequences or never think, in general. That’s also not true. Percy won almost all of his fights by outsmarting his opponent. He has very ingenious ideas and he’s able to improvise and come up with a good plan on spot. Of course he’s not gonna be like, “One second Mr. Monster, I need to explain this apparently bad but actually extremely ingenious idea to my friends... Okay, everybody got it now? Alrightly then, let’s go!”
They are fighting for their lives, of course they have to think and move fast and he won’t have time to explain everything! And have you noticed how the more they know Percy, the less they question him? No matter how out of the blue his instructions sound, they just do it without a question (maybe just a questioning and confused look ‘cause yeah, Percy’s plans are something else). And Percy is totally capable of organizing and leading an army, which has been proved repeatedly, especially in TLO and SoN.
And the constantly reminders that Annabeth held the sky longer than Percy, which is 100% true and just proves how capable and strong she is. But guys, we have no idea how much Percy could have held the sky! When the fight ended and Artemis put Atlas back in his place Percy couldn’t have been like, “wait a sec, I really wanna see how much I can hold this! Yo Luke, wanna time me, mate?”
Also, there are so many jokes in which Annabeth beats Percy in fight. I mean, that is cool for a joke, I guess, but it’s not true. First of all, Annabeth is not a child of the Big Three. Their levels of power are totally different! And even if Percy wouldn’t use his water powers, hasn’t he been repeatedly called the best swordsman in a few hundred years? The only one who is said to be a match for him is Luke. I’m not saying he would beat Annabeth easily, but in the end Percy would definitely win.
Let’s try to make the difference between fanon Percy and Annabeth and canon Percy and Annabeth.
