I do not think Sisko would have killed Tuvix but I also do not think Janeway would have dirty bombed that colony.

Spoilers for Star Trek: Prodigy
Why I'm fine with the J/C reunion, with gifs!
Ok, look. I've been shipping J/C for over twenty years at this point. Voyager was my first fandom and J/C was my first ship and maybe I'm in the minority here but I am fine with how they handled things... Because you have to remember at the end of the day this is a show written for kid and it is about the kids and a romantic relationship between two middle aged people is not going to be the priority... so we didn't get a kiss. Would it have been nice to get a kiss? Of course. But what we did get is:
This hug... like look at this... the way his closes his eye and rubs her back and leans his head a little closer head as it goes on...
Tumblr media
And this is not a brief hug... the camera cuts away to Dal and Gwyn's reaction and to Noum and Tysess coming into the room then it cuts back and they are still hugging.
Tumblr media
And even as they break a part they keep hanging on to each other and Chakotay says "I've thought about this moment for what feels like an eternity" like he spent all those years thinking about being reunited with his Kathryn... 😭 Plus she puts her hand on his chest and he's not even in a biobed (iykyk)
And then they look at each other like this...
Tumblr media
and it's clear from the angle of Chakotay's arm here that he is still touching her
There's also the fact that pretty much any time Janeway, Chakotay, Dal and Gwyn are in the room together the camera will cut from J/C to Dal & Gwyn or from Dal & Gwyn to J/C associating J/C with the show's main romantic pairing... In this scene for example it cuts from J/C to Dal & Gwyn... and after Janeway and Chakotay look at each other in this shot, it cuts to Dal telling Gywn "What ever this reality throws at us, I'm glad I'm in this one with you."
And then there is this shot:
Tumblr media
Where Janeway puts her hand on top of Chakotay's while they are literally framed by Gywn and Dal with Dal's personal log in voice over saying "maybe home isn't always a place, it's the people we trust the most."
To me this is "show don't tell" and the thing they are showing us is that these two are in love with each other. To me this is not subtle, this is not subtext. A kiss is not the only way to show that two characters are in love.
There's also the possibility that they were not already a romantic couple when Chakotay left with the Protostar and that it took this separation for them to acknowledge their feelings to themselves. (or possibly just for Janeway to acknowledge to herself how she felt about him, since I think Chakotay was already quite aware of how he felt about her.) That was my assumption all along and if that's the case, give them a chance to process and talk to each other.
Also Holo-Janeway looks so sad here... I'm sure she's happy for Chakotay that finally got home but she also knows she's lost him...😭

This post (which I love) made me consider T'Pel as someone who Tuvok is constantly debating. (Thinking of Tuvok's instant interest in Marayna once she called him out on the fact that he was doing something intentionally which others might accept as unremarkable and natural). They are both utterly logical Vulcans but subscribe to different schools of logic and thus frequently find something the other says/does/thinks intriguing and debatable. T'Pel finds Tuvok's heavy interest in spirituality and the more religious-leaning aspects of Vulcan to be anachronistic and illogical while Tuvok finds that to be rather narrow minded. We aren't just creatures of blood and bone, wife. We are the mind above all and the mind isn't confined to the physical brain. I can't touch my bond to you and yet I feel it - is it illogical to say it's there? T'Pel believes logic should not go off and devolve into the fantastical. The Vulcan bond is something which could be labeled a branch of science or biology though non-telepaths would of course view it differently. However, Tuvok's affinity for things which are beyond the scope of any rational reality is illogical. Oracles exist only as charlatans and meditation lamps from Vulcan masters are no more valuable than ones from any other source. (Again with the lamp?) It is an exemplary display of your peculiar logic. (I have already apologized for the lamp incident.) It may seem bizarre but because of this the two of them are incredibly close and seem to enjoy their debates immensely. Once you get to know them there's no sense that what's passing between them is in any way antagonistic or malicious, though it may come across that way at first. It's eager and pointed at times but never in a way the other isn't prepared to bite back against. They're also incredibly supportive of one another and respect each other greatly, which is perhaps why they can debate the way they do. Janeway says that at times, when you're listening to them, it almost feels like one person debating themself - like hearing an inner monologue aloud. T'Pel's journeying to the Temple of Amonak was a massive gesture for Tuvok. Not only because it's one of the most sacred temples on Vulcan but because T'Pel herself doesn't believe in the sacred and yet made the journey, brought their children on the journey, to say prayers (another thing which she does not find useful) for his safe return. Because she knows that to Tuvok, these things hold weight. Mr & Mrs Um Actually. They start a debate on opposite sides of the room and by it's conclusion they're practically nose to nose and nothing has changed about their tone but they're staring into each other's eyes and you're like "Should I...? Be here??" If you're Janeway, the answer is yes. You have to be there. They're gonna throw something to you for your opinion and you'd better be ready.

Title: Back To Work
Characters: Janeway/fem!reader
Rating: PG
Tumblr media
Janeway wanted you to come to her quarters in the evening when she had time off. You approached her door and heard her call for you to come in. You found her in her chair, her arm casually draped over the back of the chair, a position you loved seeing her in. She had on her short-sleeved undershirt and was reading a book.
"I didn't mean to interrupt your relaxation time," you said, feeling like you'd intruded.
"Nonsense," she said, waving a hand in the air to dismiss your concern. "I just lost track of time. Make yourself comfortable," she said, gesturing to the sofa. "Lemme just finish this chapter."
You told her not to hurry and you sat down on the sofa. You couldn't help but be transfixed on her. The intense stare at the pages. The arm over the chair back. The undershirt. She looked irresistible. You couldn't stop imagining all the things you wanted to do to--
And then you noticed her book was lowered and she was smiling at you as you were lost in the thought of her. "Sorry," you said shyly.
"For what?" she asked. "Having naughty thoughts about me?"
You shifted in your seat. "How did you know I was--"
"It's written all over your face clearer than the words in this book," she answered. "Plus there's a bit of drool in the corner of your mouth." She laughed as you wiped your mouth. "I'm teasing you," she added, standing up and walking over to you. She removed her shirt revealing the tank top beneath it. She knew you loved seeing her in that. "Better?" she purred seductively. She motioned for you to put your legs up on the sofa.
"Much," you said, stretching out on the sofa as she wished.
She straddled your waist and put her hands on either side of your head before lowering herself down to kiss you. You moaned lightly as her tongue explored your mouth. Soon you were moaning even louder as she started to grind herself against you.
Her lips moved to your ear. She nipped and nibbled at your lobe. "Is this what you wanted?" she whispered into your ear. You nodded as your voice had suddenly been lost in the excitement. She rocked her pelvis harder against you, bringing out more sounds from deep within you.
Your hands found their way to her hips and you pulled her towards you with an uncontrollable need to feel her against you as much as possible. You slid one hand up under her shirt, wishing to feel the warmth of her skin. "I need you," you finally spoke. It was a faint, breathy plead, but she heard you.
She sat upright and began fiddling with your pants, trying to unfasten them. Your pulse sped up with anticipation. When her eyes locked on yours, you felt a surge of electricity shoot to your very core. She grinned, knowing exactly how you felt. She got your pants undone and--
"Captain," a male voice appeared from the air, "You're needed on the bridge."
"Dammit, Chakotay," she groaned before actually replying to say she would be right there.
You let out a heavy sigh and she shrugged at you.
"This'll have to wait," she frowned as she fastened your pants back up. She crawled off of you and put her other shirt back on. "I'll make it up to you, I promise."
You were sitting up by now and looking disappointed. You tried to smile, not wanting it to feel like it was her fault for having to leave you like this. "Duty calls," you said with faux cheer.
Buttoning up her uniform, she leaned down and kissed you. "I promise," she reassured. And you knew she meant it. "Stay the night," she said, on her way out. "I'll be back as soon as I can."
And with that, she was back to work.

Whats entertaining about Season 5 episode 'In The Flesh' is it's such a J/C secure relationship coded episode even though it ends with Chakotay being kissed by another woman.
Like, when Tuvok first arrives and sees Chakotay talking to Archer about their date he gives off such older brother disapproving vibes (and Chakotay's response is like dw I'm planning to stand her up).
When he says he has a relationship with Archer and he should capitalise on that, Janeway has absolutely no jealousy or concerns she's just like excellent the boys will take you.
Their entire affectionate shippy discussion of the last time they were at starfleet HQ and his completely affectionate 'the orders that bought us together'. My heart. But then it goes to her saying one thing and him instantly just stopping and staring at her for a second and just 'Kathryn you're testing me! You think I'm one of them' and just how well they know each other that she made one (tactical) mistake in their conversations and he's instantly aware. They know each other so well.
When he gets declared 100% human and then is off for his date and she teasingly calls back to be home by midnight. She's not motivated by jealousy or anything she's 100% secure in them.
Honourable mention for the entire Chakotay, Tom and Harry sequence in the delta flyer and then Harry worrying his dad hasn't checked in yet. Adorable.
Chakotay all but climbing the door jam while Archer tries to kiss him and then either giving in or touch starved or whatever and kissing her back.
'No, Captain Janeway isn't coming to fight you, she' coming for ME'. The confidence. The certainty. If Kathryn is coming she's coming for me.
The side glances between them during the class reunion with the representatives.
I really hope when they transport back and go to her quarters for dinner Kathryn does the whole lean forward and hand on her chin and gleefully asks what it's like to kiss Species 8472 while he blushes furiously.
They're just so secure in their standing with each other. I saw a discussion about Shattered on here the other day and I think they've had a full on conversation about their relationship by this point. They're too happy as they are. It's I know them and I love them and that's enough for us.
Ofc, I am probably watching with incredibly J/C tinted glasses but I support the argument that man is Demisexual af.

Dal/Gwyn, Janeway/Chakotay parallels
I've been mulling this over for a while so I just wanna put all of these down. I really have been enjoying the parallels between these four, and there's a bunch. Will add to this as I think of more.
Dal and Janeway:
They're both on a quest to find home. Janeway back to Earth. Dal back to his family.
Both captain a nontraditional crew and bring them under the Starfleet banner. Dal captains his crew of escaped prisoners from Tars Lamora and Janeway the combined members of her original crew and the Maquis in each case this is born of expediency. They need the crew numbers to get the ship running. And for both part of their journey becomes learning to be a better captain to their unique crews.
Both explore and grapple with their relationship to starfleet ideals. In Dal's case learning Starfleet ideals and laws from scratch and putting them into practice. In Janeway's having her existing ideals tested by an environment where they are difficult to hold to. She and Dal both experience obstacles that test their commitment to these ideals and face consequences of straying from them.
Stars: Dal's window of dreams. Janeway's love of nebulas. The stars mean different things to these two: freedom to Dal and discovery to Janeway but both are seen to have a particular affinity for them.
Learning to lean on their crew: Both in one way or another return to themes of accepting help rather than depending only on themselves. For Dal, this comes from a past of self-preservation and survival. For Janeway, from guilt-driven instinct to put her crew before herself. Both see some of their greatest successes and moments of growth when they set aside those tendencies and accept help from their crew.
Gwyn and Chakotay
Both leave their home for Starfleet, and later return to it when it is in trouble. Chakotay leaves Dorvan/Trebus at 15 against the wishes of his father in order to pursue Starfleet Academy. and only returns when it attacked by the Cardassians. Gwyn idealizes Starfleet her whole life on Tars Lamora only to decide to try to save Solum rather than join her friends as warrant officers.
Both have complicated relationships with their dead fathers. Both of their fathers disagreed with their pursuit of Starfleet, and wanted them to embrace a future that more directly benefited their homeworld. Both were in conflict with them before their deaths and Both of their fathers were killed violently, spurring a shift in their thinking.
Both love exploring other cultures. Gwyn has a love of languages. Chakotay of archeology/anthropology. Both enjoy learning about new people and places and making connections.
Both of their homeworlds are abandoned by the Federation for political reasons - a treaty with the Cardassians in one case and a commitment to non-interference in the other. In Chakotay's case this leads him to turn against starfleet for a time, feeling that it had abandoned its ideals. I'm curious if Gwyn's mission to Solum will lead her down a similar path.
Both act the first officer to an equal. Chakotay was a captain of his own ship before agreeing to be Janeway's second in command. Gwyn has more technical expertise about the Protostar's systems than Dal, and more familiarity with the Federation.
Dal/Gwyn &. Chakotay/Janeway
Both pairs begin their relationship at odds in similar ways. Janeway is seeking to arrest Chakotay. Dal is first Gwyn's prisoner and then takes her as a captive.
The Moral Star/Coda parallels. I just enjoy a good "You might be dying in my arms and I never told you how I felt moment" okay. I am a sucker for it.
Gwyn and Dal ending Season 1 in a similar place to where Janeway and Chakotay were at the start of it. Chakotay winds up trapped on Alt!Future Solum after accepting a mission to complete some of the unfinished work/fix some of the mistakes Voyager had when it first traversed the Delta Quadrant. Gwyn ends Season one going to fix some of the mistakes made between Solum and Starfleet in the alternate future. Janeway and Dal, meanwhile, are at HQ with their own Starfleet-focused duties.
Speculations:
All of the above have me wondering if both couples are in a similar place romantically. Dal and Gwyn are just beginning a romantic relationship when they separate. Is that where Janeway and Chakotay are as well?
And will this mean that Gwyn will also need a rescue? Will her mission go sideways like Chakotay's did?

I think another part of me wishes that they kept more implants on Seven before removing all of it (Sorry, Jeri, I know you hated the whole makeup thing).
I wish they played up more about how truly dangerous it was to have Seven of Nine aboard before she acclimated to the Voyager way of life. Seven says that most of the crew are afraid of her and Tom concurred but we didn't really see it.
The showrunners were so overeager for Sexy Borg Lady that they skipped through a really great narrative about how scary and dangerous it was to have a barely reformed Borg onboard.
Having a Borg aboard should have been like a livewire situation. Handled with extreme care.
Unfortunately, it seems the network and Berman only allowed up to three episodes of continuity. Seven being in her partial Borg get up in The Gift (4x02) was already pushing it.
Seven is friendly (for a newly severed Borg) but don't think for one second she's not dangerous.
I wish Voyager leaned more into Seven as the most dangerous entity on that ship next to Janeway.
Just like in Killjoys how no one ever forgot in the show and in the overall narrative that the most dangerous person in Team Awesome Force was Dutch.
Or how Buffy is the thing monsters are afraid of.
Seven was quite literally part of the galactic boogeyman.
Also, who else has had such a metal introduction?

i did find "sacred ground" interesting but--and i'm not sure this was the actual argument of the episode, it was ambiguous enough and was mostly focused on janeway's relationship to the ideas over the ideas in and of themselves--i don't think it's necessary to try to collapse the space between faith and science in order to make the point that faith is capable of offering solutions to human problems and is often more present in the consciousness than rationalists like to believe. like i know the scientific method has a fraught history, that it's been used in bad-faith, that it's not a complete solution, that science is affected by bias and hate and intellectual and ethical limitations, that 'truth-seeking' means a lot of variable things, that knowledge can mean variable things, that the mythic quality of science can overwhelm its actual project, that it's often been a tool--actual and rhetorical--for terrible things, yes. but reasoning and praying are different things. just because both require an acknowledgement of the limitations of human understanding of the cosmos doesn't mean they're the same.
when the greek chorus asks janeway if she believes with enough time and study she'd be able to find an answer and she says "yes," this is and expression of faith in science. it's not science itself. the abstract rational response to that question is "i don't know." which she does eventually get to and the episode seems to be leaning in the direction of it being faith rather than rationality. but it's the action of putting kes back in the thing that gave her a fatal blow that's faith because it's absurd, not the expression of not knowing. janeway's faith in science is broken in such a strange way--with the implication that no scientific answer would have arisen without her departure from the rational. "she likes tests." "that is the challenge." not sure if the episode is arguing janeway needed her faith in science to be humbled or her faith in always finding a solution--but either way those are different things.
kes's function in the story as the figurative isaac, as the in-universe figurative prince of the king, further emphasizes whatever janeway's journey is, too, bc kes does have the sort of arrogance that the greek chorus accuses janeway of having: she races off to touch something that doesn't belong to her, she's said previously she wants to "crack open" the universes secrets like janeway, she's impulsively ran away from her home to that which was discouraged/forbidden, and she anthropomorphizes the doctor in a way based off her own rationale of being--that of not agreeing to limitations put on the self. that janeway has to "sacrifice" her to save her could either mean, again, that she needs to sacrifice her faith in science or sacrifice her faith in always finding a solution. and again, however the episode treats those two things, they're not the same.
but there was still something very satisfying in watching the janeway king figure bow her head and expose her neck for the green knight to maybe cut it off, in return.

A Tuvok & Janeway focused T-rated fanfic for Bad Things Happen Bingo
Summary:
An Injured Janeway is found by Tuvok and Chakotay.
Preview of story:
Tuvok finds Janeway in the woods, leaning against a tree. Her eyes are half-lidded, and not quite there. She’s putting most of her weight on the single arm braced against the large tree beside her. Its dark bark digs into her skin, leaving her arm red and black. Her clothes are torn in several places, a large chunk of her shirt hangs, barely against her side. Even if he could not see all the blood on her, Tuvok would have smelled it, but alas the image of her, drenched in blood, sweat, and other materials he can only guess at without a full scan makes his stomach harden as his heart beats furiously at the flesh separating the two organs.
He’s beside her before Chakotay can even get her name out of his mouth. He loops one hand around the small of her back, as he cradles the other beneath her arm, guiding her away from the tree and keeping her feet in front of his. Janeway all but falls into his hold. Her head leans back. She grins as their eyes meet. “Tuvok.” She whispers, clearly relieved.
“Kathryn!” Chakotay calls out again, and Tuvok’s hold on her tightens ever so slightly. She does not like to be referred to by her name when in command, but clearly she and the first officer had reached some sort of agreement. That must be the reason why she smiles at Chakotay instead of reprimanding him. Janeway likes her rules, and agreements. Her clearly set codes, and guides to life, and relationships. Tuvok understands the ease of having clearly set expectations to meet.
There are rules in place for this scenario too, so Tuvok follows them. He doesn’t flinch away as Chakotay moves to help him get Captain Janeway back to the shuttle. Nor does he argue when Chakotay chooses to lift Janeway and rests her on a bench seat in the back of the shuttle, before moving to the pilot’s seat. Tuvok returns to work.

For the character ask game: the Twelfth Doctor and Janeway
thanks for the ask <333
Twelfth Doctor:
How I feel about this character: one of my favorite characters of all time. s8-10 came out when i was a teen and at the peak of my Doctor Who obsession and because of that Twelve is probably the fictional character that most impacted my sense of identity (and even my fashion taste lmao, i bought my first pair of Docs after s8 premiered and they're still the only shoes i wear and the only way i was convinced to go to prom at the end of high school was that it was a reason to acquire a Heaven Sent cosplay). it's also definitely nostalgia bias in part, but i do find Twelve to be the best written and most dynamic & compelling Doctor with no one else having as tight of a character arc that can compete.
All the people I ship romantically with this character: i definitely see the Doctor in general and especially Twelve as aro but i do like both Twelve/River & Twelve/Missy. both are deliciously tragic & doomed & are also my favorite onscreen Doctor/River & Doctor/Master relationship.
My non-romantic OTP for this character: i love whatever fucked up stuff is happening with Clara, definitely one of my top three Doctor-companion dynamics. i also love Twelve & Bill a lot, i just wish they got more episodes to explore their dynamic.
My unpopular opinion about this character: hmm i don't feel like i disagree with the fandom on Twelve in general, but i will say i feel like people underrate s8 (i see a lot of people praise s9 & s10 and then write s8 off as a mixed bag). it's not my favorite season, and there are definite critiques wrt to Danny, but it's so necessary to the Doctor's character and i feel like a lot of people aren't willing to accept the Doctor being a blunt asshole at first and learn to grow which... fair enough but i think that's more personal taste rather than the season being bad because of it.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: honestly the Twelfth Doctor's character arc is quite close to perfect for me and i think any major changes would only detract from it which is also the reason i don't really make a lot of fandom stuff for his era as i don't feel like i have a lot to add. i think i'll go with my prior answer of a few more Twelve & Bill episodes/more episodes showing them at the university.
Janeway:
How I feel about this character: Janewayyyyyyyyy doomed sea captain my beloveddddd. character of all time, my favorite Captain, one of my top three Trek characters, there's something wrong with her and i want her to get worse about it.
All the people I ship romantically with this character: i like Janeway/Chakotay but i don't have super strong feelings about them. i also really like Janeway/Seven though i go back and forth on seeing it as romantic or not, but regardless, it's fucked up and i love it. also with any of Janeway's romances, i'm more compelled by the tension in those relationships (and Janeway struggling with putting duty & her role as Captain over any personal feelings) rather than ever wanting them to get together.
My non-romantic OTP for this character: Janeway & Tuvok is great, no notes. also whatever weird sacrificial dynamic Janeway & Harry have going on is compelling to me.
My unpopular opinion about this character: i don't think this is a super unpopular opinion (on tumblr at least) but i don't think Janeway ever has a happy ending. everything she went through on Voyager, especially how they ultimately returned in Endgame, was extremely traumatizing and i don't think she would ever work through the guilt & depersonalization she developed over the 7 years. i think others might try to help her, but i think Janeway would dig her heels in and lean into her workaholic tendencies more than ever as an Admiral (which considering where Starfleet heads post-Voyager is, uh, Not Great). she might try to have a relationship with Chakotay for a bit, but ultimately i think Janeway is too tied to Starfleet and the Captain persona she's crafted to ever feel comfortable or genuine in a long-term relationship. she made Voyager her home, and as such Janeway's never really been home since she stepped down as Captain.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: hm, there are definitely individual episodes where i'll quibble with her characterization, but i can't think of anything major? she's definitely one of Trek's best written and most consistent characters which i think is largely is down to Kate Mulgrew's performance. that said, i do wish she was a little bit less of a hero character/mentor figure in Prodigy. i definitely get why she was written that way as it is a kid's show and Janeway shouldn't be the focus, but for me, Janeway is at her best when she's being a bit unethical and suffering from depression.

Without You
No True Pair 8 Character Challenge Fandoms: Star Trek TNG, Voyager Pair: Beverly Crusher/ Kathryn Janeway Word Count: 526 Rating: G Prompt: seasons change
The smell of autumn is in the air, despite the late summer heat. Scent is one of the things that the holodeck never gets quite right, but it's easy to forget what it's really like when you've spent so many years on a starship. Now, Kathryn sits on the front porch of the family farmhouse, breathing in the earthy aroma and admiring the reds and oranges and golds of the changing leaves scattered throughout the green trees.
"Room for one more?" Beverly asks, appearing at Kathryn's side.
Kathryn looks up and smiles. "Always," she says, stretching her arm across the back of the porch swing to indicate Beverly's seat.
Beverly slides onto the bench next to Kathryn and kisses her on the cheek as she hands her an iced coffee (black, of course).
"My hero," Kathryn sighs, taking the coffee gratefully. Iced coffee is another thing that she forgot she enjoyed over all those years. There's no need to sully your coffee with ice when you live in a temperature controlled environment. But on humid days like this, she welcomes the crisp chill of an iced beverage — especially when Beverly makes the coffee extra strong.
"I bet this view is incredible when all of the leaves turn," Beverly muses, her hand coming to rest comfortably on Kathryn's knee while she looks out at the expanse of oak and maple trees that reach far beyond the boundaries of the Janeway property. "And then in the winter, covered in ice and snow
"
"What makes you think you'll get to see it in the winter?" Kathryn teases.
"Well if I'm not here, who's going to bring you coffee?" Beverly teases back without missing a beat.
"Replicator," Kathryn replies with a shrug.
"You're going to live off of replicated coffee again?" Beverly asks, suddenly turning away from the view to face Kathryn. "Kathryn, are you going back?" her playful tone has turned to worry and there are creases of concern around her eyes and forehead.
Kathryn turns away from the view as well and looks at Beverly. She gazes into her eyes, the exact shade of blue as the sky on a fresh spring day. She runs her fingers through softly curled hair, streaked through with oranges, reds, and golds more beautiful than any autumn leaves. Her fingers skate down Beverly's cheek, over skin as smooth and flawless as a newly frozen pond. Finally, she leans in, and gently presses her lips to Beverly's, reveling in a warmth more welcoming than the summer sun.
"I'm not going anywhere," Kathryn murmurs her reassurance. She leans her forehead against Beverly's and feels the muscles there relax, a smile blooming on the cheek still being caressed by Kathryn's fingers.
Kathryn knows she'll go back eventually — the pull of the stars is still too great — but she also knows she won't go without Beverly. Because the number one thing she missed — the thing she never was able to forget for all those years — was what it feels like to hold this woman in her arms. Autumn and nature and iced coffees be damned, Beverly is the one thing she will never again be without.

Hello hi! I love your idea to do fics based on Spotify Wrapped! 💕 I'd like to request a reader-insert Chakotay fic if that's alright! (I feel like there's a real shortage of Chakotay fics that don't include a pairing with Janeway.) And let's go with numberrrrrr 38! Thank you, can't wait to see what you come up with! â˜ș
Hiii I agree - there aren't enough reader insert Chakotay fics! Hope you like this xx
So Good [Chakotay]
Tumblr media
Prompt: So Good by Halsey Word count: 1.8k Pairing: Chakotay x femme reader Notes: Let me know if you like the third person POV! Also I'm battling a head cold rn so I apologize for any errors or mistakes.
“I can’t.”
Y/N exhaled slowly, breath fanning Chakotay’s lips. “Then why are you here?”
Chakotay shut his eyes and leaned his forehead against Y/N’s forehead. “I don’t know.”
Y/N ran her hands down his sides and felt him shiver beneath her touch. “I saw it on your face, Chakotay. I know you feel this, too.”
“I do. I do, I just
” He shook his head and moved back, staring at her with mixed emotions: yearning, confusion, hurt, guilt, want. “I can’t.”
Y/N stared at him, stomach twisting. She swallowed hard, then pulled away. “You should go, then.”
Chakotay didn’t say anything for a few moments, and for a split second, he looked like he was going to kiss her. Then he shook his head and looked away. “I’m sorry.”
“Me too.”
-
When Y/N was assigned to Voyager, she had no idea how emotionally strenuous their first mission would be. She knew the commander of the Maquis ship was a previous Starfleet officer, but she didn’t know it was Chakotay. The man she hadn’t been able to stop thinking about since their last encounter years back; when he walked out of her apartment, likely to go hold his girlfriend’s body closer to him so he could forget about what he and Y/N had almost done.
Nothing had happened, not really. The two had been working together for several months and one night they’d been at Y/N’s apartment celebrating their project’s completion. They’d been sleep deprived, a little intoxicated, and had gotten a little too close. Y/N had known Chakotay had a girlfriend. She’d known he was unavailable, and it wasn’t until she felt his body heat radiating towards her on her couch, seeing his soft eyes linger on her face, that she’d realized how much she liked him. How she wished they could be more.
She knew it was bad. But they could have been so good.
Nothing happened, but oh how Y/N wished something had. She never would have wanted him to cheat on his girlfriend, but she’d been desperately hoping he’d tell her it was over. That what he and Y/N felt was real.
But that was years ago and she hadn’t seen him since.
Never in her wildest dreams did she think the two of them would somehow both wind up thrown across the galaxy and find themselves on the same ship, one which they’d likely spend the rest of their lives.
At first, she didn’t believe it. Through all of the chaos and danger, Y/N hadn’t really learned or met the Maquis until after the array had been destroyed and their fates had been sealed. She didn’t really get a chance to encounter more of them until she was trudging her way through the corridors of the ship, eager to collapse on her bed and pray she woke up back home on Earth. She passed by unfamiliar face after unfamiliar face—some in Starfleet uniforms that she just hadn’t had the chance to meet yet, and some still in their Maquis uniforms.
She was nearly at her quarters when she heard his name being uttered in passing. She stopped dead in her tracks and looked to the couple of Maquis talking to themselves down the corridor. She must have been hearing things, because there was no way

“—I can’t believe Chakotay agreed to all this,” one of them said, “Letting Starfleet be in command of us all.”
“Yeah,” said the other. “Just because he used to be Starfleet, doesn’t mean we all want to be shoved into their stuffy system.”
Y/N stopped listening after that. Chakotay was there. On Voyager. In the Delta Quadrant. Stranded with the rest of them for who knew how long.
“Computer,” Y/N said. “Locate Chakotay.”
“Commander Chakotay is in his quarters.”
Y/N’s heard raced. She had a brief thought of, he’s already been promoted to commander? but quickly shoved that aside and asked the computer for the location of his quarters. She made her way there as quickly as she could without looking weird. When she reached his door, her hand hovered over the doorbell.
She didn’t even know what she was going to say to him, but she needed to see him. They’d have to speak to one another and work together eventually, so she might as well rip the bandage off.
Taking in a deep breath, she pressed the console and the chime rang.
“Come in.”
Y/N’s stomach flipped at the sound of his voice. She opened the door and stepped inside, heart beating so loudly she could barely hear anything else.
“Y/N?”
She turned and her lips parted. There he was, standing not ten feet from her. He looked the same, albeit with a new facial tattoo. He was still as handsome as she remembered him being.
“Hi,” Y/N said quietly, taking another step in to allow the door to close behind her.
Chakotay’s eyes darted around her, as if he couldn’t believe she was standing there. She could practically hear the gears turning in his head.
“I
heard you were on board,” she said slowly. “Thought I would
 say hi.”
Chakotay took a small, hesitant step forward. “Y/N, I—wow. It’s
 been a while.”
“Yeah.”
Chakotay offered her a smile. “It’s nice to see a friendly face.”
Y/N tilted her head to the side. “Who says I’m going to be friendly?” she mused lightly.
Chakotay chuckled. “Wishful thinking.”
Y/N returned his smile. “It’s good to see you.”
“You too.” He waved to his couch. “Sit. I’d offer you a drink or something, but, well, you know the replicators are still down.”
Y/N nodded and moved to the couch. “It’s alright.”
Chakotay sat on the other end. He stared at her for a few moments in silence. “What are the odds?”
“I’m wondering that, myself.” Y/N shook her head slowly, still having a sense that all of it was just impossible; maybe she’d still wake up tomorrow and learn it was all a dream. But if it was a dream, she wanted to make the best of it.
She reached out her hand tentatively, resting it on the cushion between them.
A genuine smile spread on Chakotay’s face. He placed his hand atop hers and she took in a sharp breath. The warmth of his palm was comforting and familiar. She intertwined their fingers and Chakotay squeezed gently.
“I can’t believe you’re here,” Y/N murmured, staring at their hands. “I didn’t know you joined the Maquis.”
“When the fighting started on my home world, I had to go,” he replied simply. “I couldn’t just sit back and do nothing.”
Y/N nodded. “That makes sense.”
Chakotay made a soft, thoughtful sound.
Y/N looked up and met his gaze. “What?”
He smiled. “Nothing. Just nice that you aren’t ridiculing me.”
Y/N shook her head and gave him a funny look. “You know I wouldn’t do that. Especially not for something like that. Starfleet may deem the Maquis to be terrorists, but
If someone came by Earth one day and said we had to give the planet to, say, the Xindi? Yeah, pretty sure a lot of people would also rebel against that.”
Chakotay’s smile widened. “I knew there was a reason I liked you.”
Y/N’s cheeks flushed and she ducked her head. “I know the fight must mean a lot to you—you never were one to resort to violence unless absolutely necessary—but
I’m glad you’re here away from it.” She cringed. “Not that I want you to be stranded in the Delta Quadrant for the next seventy years, but—”
Chakotay’s quiet chuckle cut her off. “I know what you’re trying to say.”
She nodded silently.
Chakotay gave her hand a squeeze. “We should probably talk about things. If we’re going to be working together for the rest several decades.”
Y/N’s stomach flipped. She nodded because of course she wanted to talk about it, but at the same time she just wanted to keep talking to him about anything but. It was just so nice to be with him like that: close but not too close with a comfortable, unspoken trust between them. “Yeah, I know. Look, I—I’m sorry. I know it was bad—that I didn’t push you away or stop you more. I know nothing really happened, but I shouldn’t have let things get so
 emotionally complicated before that night.”
“It isn’t your fault,” Chakotay said. “You aren’t responsible for my actions.”
“Still
I should have respected your relationship more.”
“I appreciate you saying that,” he said softly. “So should I.”
Y/N bit her lip and looked at him for a few moments. “Are you two still together? I know
I know a lot of people on board are struggling with the realization that they won’t see their partners for a long time.”
Chakotay’s look softened. “No, we broke up.”
“Oh.” Y/N’s heart fluttered, but she instantly felt guilty because she shouldn’t feel happy that his relationship didn’t work out.
“That night,” he said slowly, carefully, “after I left, I
I did a lot of thinking. No matter what happened with you and I, I knew I had to end things with her.”
“Oh,” Y/N repeated, unsure of what else to say.
“So I did. I broke up with her and there wasn’t anything I wanted more than to go to you and tell you how I felt.” A look of guilt passed over his features. “But it didn’t feel right. Not right after I broke up with her. So I waited to let the dust settle and see if space between you and I would change anything.” He shook his head. “But you were all I thought about, Y/N. Everything reminded me of you, but then more time passed and it just never felt right to reach out to you again. The project we’d been working on had ended and we both had new assignments
But I never stopped thinking about you.”
Y/N shifted closer. “I never stopped thinking about you, either. I felt awful for what happened. I knew it was bad, and I knew that reaching out to you so soon after would be even worse. But
but I never stopped thinking about what we could have been.”
Chakotay lifted her hand and feathered his lips to her knuckles. “It isn’t too late to find out.”
Y/N’s breath hitched. “I guess not.”
“If you want to give it a try,” Chakotay said, staring at her. “I won’t beg or force you, and I will back off immediately if you tell me to. But we’ve been given a second chance, and I
I think we could be good together.”
Y/N pulled her hand out of his and hurt flashed across his features. But then she took his face in her hands and moved closer and just before she kissed him, she saw him smile.

Post-Mortem/Notes on Chapter 2 of "Not Quite an Elevator Pitch"
I plan on adding more to "Not Quite an Elevator Pitch" soon but I'm currently picking back through earlier parts of the story to make sure the bits I add make sense and mesh with everything else.
I saw a post awhile back where someone said they'd love to see an extra notes or post-mortem section for fan fics on a03. Since that'd break terms of service, I'm taking a crack at something like that for the first time here. It's a mix of commentary about what headspace I was in as well as why I went with certain narrative choices.
Here's a few notes on certain bits or references from Chapter 2 of "Not Quite an Elevator Pitch."
So much of him hated that he’d relied on Snackables so much the past few days. He kept imagining an okay-ish tuna sandwich next to flimsy cardboard packaging with crackers, dubious lunch meat, plastic cheese, and radioactive colored candy. Fink loved it. She bragged that her friends were jealous with a big grin on her face.
I'm a grown-ass adult that regularly grabs and snacks on cheese and cracker Lunchables. I can barely put together a competent grilled cheese sandwich and most of the references to food or cooking in my fics are self-deprecating jabs. I'm a big advocate of cook meals for your kid if you have the time and better yet, teach them how to cook.
It felt like time itself stopped. If the oven clock digital display wasn’t flashing, Venomous would have started entertaining the thought of a time wizard or a highly-advanced lizard creature with space-time warping powers crawling around the apartment. Almost two agonizing minutes passed. Carol’s breathing on the other end of the phone became a little strained.
The 'highly advanced lizard creature' is a lame reference to an infamous episode of Star Trek: Voyager where Captain Janeway and Lt. Paris go past Warp 10, become salamander lizard creatures, and have lizard babies. For more context and a very stupid rabbit hole, here's a link: https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Threshold_(episode)
Fifteen minutes later, Venomous walked up to the Plaza wearing an obnoxious yellow hoodie with the hood thrown over his face, tan cargo shorts, and socks with sandals.
I really wanted a scene with PV wearing the worst, most unflattering outfit ever because it was laundry day or whatever else. I definitely want to draw this at some point because it cracks me up so damn much.
“Professor
” Carol sighed as she let go and pulled open the driver side door of her personalized tank. “I think it’d be a good idea to go talk to your husband, but if you’re not ready, then we should go somewhere else.”
“Yeah
.” He blew out a breath as he climbed into the tank. “Yeah. You’ve got a good point. Also, he’s not my husband. He’s my business partner. Well
 probably former business partner.”
Carol gave him a look as she pulled out of the Plaza parking lot. “If he’s just your business partner, then Eugene is just my property manager/close personal family friend.”
Venomous muttered a few choice words under his breath.
From the outside looking in, I headcanon most onlookers would assume that PV and Boxman were a married gay couple with a blended family. That's absolutely what the coding was going for and if censors weren't involved, I bet there would have been engagement rings or something. I decided to lean into the 'business partner' thing as part of PV being scared of commitment or reluctant to get too vulnerable around Boxman or anyone else.
Venomous looked out the window at the passing scenery. “If it was at POINT headquarters, I called you my coworker. That’s just because Foxtail had a policy about not dating colleagues.” Venomous smirked slightly. “I did call you my girlfriend around Mr. Gar, though. Just to wind him up a little. He was head over heels for you.”
“You’re a jerk. No wonder being a villain fits like a glove.”
At that, Venomous chuckled. “I didn’t realize Mr. Gar liked you that way when I started making moves. If he’d told me, I would have backed off. By the time I clocked it, we were serious enough that I wasn’t going to break things off on the off chance he might actually confess.”
“So
” Carol lightly touched her chin. “You did take us seriously?”
“Yes.” Venomous slumped in his seat. “Your feelings weren’t one-sided. I loved you. You’re the last serious relationship I had before...whatever I have with Boxman now.”
There was never an established dynamic for Laser and El Bow one on one without Carol present. El Bow would probably be anxious and respectful of his higher rank while Laser was generally encouraging/cool guy. So, I think I'm breaking canon a bit here.
In other fics that feature Laser, I like writing him with an arrogant or nasty streak to him. He's an asshole in certain settings and that's the early warning and lead up to the piece of work Venomous is later. Honestly, I think PV became a hero for the reputation boost and cool factor more than an earnest desire to be a good guy. POINT was a world famous org. There's a certain level of prestige and fame that comes with being part of a team like that!
“I heard you call me weak,” he said, forcing himself to look at her.
“...what?”
“You called me weak!” Venomous cried, surprised by the bitterness coming through in his voice. “That I’m weak without my powers. That I wasn’t as powerful as you
”
“Professor Venomous
” Carol’s voice was soft. “I never thought you were weak. It was more that I didn’t know what your capabilities were without your powers. Dr. Grayman just lost his powers. I would have wanted to be there to protect him or serve as backup for him too. It was about wanting to support you until you figured out new ways to fight and compensate for no super powers. There’s plenty of fantastic heroes that don’t have any super powers
.” She smiled a little. “Villains too. You’re definitely proof of that.”
This bit has a continuity error. Carol wasn't aware that Laser lost his super powers. Just that he was really, really insecure about what his abilities were. I think I can edit this at some point and still maintain the scene without breaking it too much.
“You wanted Laserblast back.” Venomous glared. “If I told you I was Professor Venomous back then, that I made shady deals with other villains, and that I was a villain. That I liked being a villain and felt better than ever
”
“We could have talked it out.” Carol wiped away more tears. “I still think we should have. No, I wouldn’t like that you’re a villain. We would have broken up. But I wouldn’t ask you to go back to being Laserblast. That’s not who you are and you weren’t happy. I can respect someone’s autonomy. I want everyone to be happy if such a thing is even possible. If I didn’t, I never would have let K.O. start talking to you. If he decided to be a villain, I’d have reservations about it, yeah, but I wouldn’t stop him.”
She took a deep breath and leaned back into her seat, slowly placing her hands back on the steering wheel.
“Wouldn’t K.O. prefer Laserblast?” The question felt hollow.
“No.” Carol threw up a hand. “You said it yourself. Laserblast is gone. Laserblast isn’t his dad. You are. He wanted you, Professor Venomous. I...thought that was pretty obvious.”
A lot of Elevator Pitch is fan wish fulfillment. I really want closure with certain people in real life, but it's never going to happen. So, I contrived a line of dominoes for 'let's give these fictional characters the closure I don't get to have.' It's fiction and it felt cathartic to take advantage of that, regardless of how much more suspension of disbelief it needs.
If I were trying to write in line with canon, PV would come to this conclusion years later or in a therapy session or something. I don't think Carol would willingly sit down or meet with him. After the big reveal, it'd make more sense that Carol would be polite but cold. That bridge is burned, regardless of how K.O. would continue to approach PV. If K.O. had any other interactions with bio dad, I honestly see him having an easier time talking to Boxman and asking him to play go-between or mediator.
Don't let me in the writers' room, man. I think what I'd really want to see play out is Carol getting a few solid punches in if she had any other on-screen moments with PV. Either that or I'd love to see PV try to be civil or talk and she just shuts him down in this really subtle but savage way. I hope I can work up to feeling competent enough to write this out at some point, heheh.

Title: Test The Limits
Characters: Janeway/fem!reader
Rating: M
Warnings: Dominance, punishment, spanking, orgasm denial
Tumblr media
You stepped into the crowded mess hall, the vibrant chatter and clinking glasses enveloping you in a warm, festive atmosphere. Captain Janeway stood across the room, her piercing eyes fixed intently on you. You couldn't help but feel a flutter in your chest as you caught her gaze, her stern expression a subtle warning to behave.
As you mingled with the other partygoers, exchanging laughter and flirtatious banter, you sensed Janeway's gaze never wavered. She watched you with an intensity that sent shivers down your spine, her eyes burning with an unspoken authority. You felt like a misbehaving cadet, desperate to test the limits of her patience.
Just as you were getting into the swing of things, Janeway appeared behind you, her warm breath whispering in you ear. "I told you to behave, but it seems you didn't listen. You're pushing your luck, and I won't tolerate it." Her voice was velvet-covered steel, promising consequences if you didn't shape up.
Your heart skipped a beat as she grasped your elbow, her grip firm but gentle, and steered you toward the exit. "Time for a little....reeducation, I think." The hint of a smile played on her lips, a promise of pleasure and punishment intertwined.
In her quarters, the door slid shut behind you, and Janeway's demeanor shifted from Captain to dominatrix. She took your hand, her eyes blazing with a mix of anger and desire. "You should've listened when I told you to stop flirting with the others. Now, you'll have to pay the price."
She led you to her desk, where a sleek, black paddle lay waiting. "I had a feeling I'd be needing this tonight." Your pulse quickened as she bent you over, instructing you to keep your hands flat on the desk. Her fingers danced briefly across your rear. "You're going to learn to obey, and to respect your superior." She lowered your pants just enough. The first spank landed with a sharp crack, your ass stinging as you yelped in surprise.
Janeway's hands were everywhere, teasing you with gentle touches and sharp slaps, her arm reaching around from behind you, fingers probing your pussy with tantalizing slowness. But she denied you the release you so desperately craved, her whispers of "not yet, not yet" driving you wild. She ordered you to keep your position.
She leaned back against the desk right beside you. As you watched, mesmerized, she slipped her hand down into her pants. She began to touch herself, her fingers sliding between her legs with a soft moan. "You can look, but you can't touch," she purred, her eyes glinting with mischief. You writhed in frustration, your juices dripping down your thighs as you begged for release.
"Fuck, Captain, please!" you whimpered, your hands grasping for her, only to be swatted away.
Janeway's smile grew, her chest heaving with excitement. "You should've thought of that before you disobeyed me. Now, it's my turn to have fun." She turned you to face her, your ass leaning back on the desk and feeling the cold sting. She wasted no time getting to work on you. Her fingers danced inside you, expertly teasing your G-spot until you screamed, your orgasm hovering just out of reach.
She spun you back around to the former position. The paddle returned, Janeway's strokes hard and deliberate, your ass burning with each swat. You sobbed, your body trembling with need, as she denied you the release you so desperately sought.
Finally, after an eternity, she relented, reaching around you once again from behind, pulling you back against her. Her fingers bringing you to the brink of ecstasy before pulling back, leaving you panting and frustrated. "Next time, listen when I give you an order," she whispered, her hot breath caressing your ear. "Now, get out of my sight before I decide to punish you further."
As you pulled up your pants and stumbled out of her quarters, your ass throbbing and your pussy aching, you couldn't help but feel a twisted sense of gratitude. Janeway had pushed you to the edge, and you knew you'd do anything to feel her touch again. The Captain had disciplined you, and you were hooked.

I honestly started watching Voyager with a FULL knowledge that J/C are not going to be canon. I KNEW that. Not that it prevented me from being outraged at them ultimately not being canon, because half way through season 1, I found myself hoping that the ending to this 20-something year old show would somehow magically change and they will end up canon. Because how two people like Janeway and Chakotay, with that mind-blowing chemistry, who are clearly meant to be together, could not end up being canon?
But anyway, I'm rewatching Voy now, and that Chakotay/Seven thing makes even less sense now than it did before. It's so completely random. If Janeway and Chakotay were not meant to be, then surely it makes way more sense to pair Janeway with Seven because, even though I'm leaning toward more mother/daughter vibes, some scenes between them are just ultra gay.
But Seven and Chakotay makes exactly zero sense.
