mechanical crew headcanons.

jay is really good with physically building stuff and designing machines but struggles really badly with software and coding and phones and such

nya is is good with software and such but finds it tedious and much rather just get her hands dirty and build something awesome. her design notes are always random and illegible. (when working on something together pixal is constantly asking her "what did you mean by this")

pixal really enjoys all parts of the process. she finds people confusing and frusterating. but she understands machines and code. i think its very meditative for her and she loves to find out new ways to solve problems. she likes to make cool badass shit for herself and her friends! i think she also is really into the coding and software part because it feels almost like a first language to her.

zane could fix himself the way an average person can attend to their own minor wounds and he can follow instructions from the others when it comes to building but outside of a crisis he is suprisingly not that good with machinery besides himself

percy:

becomes a high school teacher

teaches high school marine biology (idk how it is in other schools but when we hit sophomore year we got to choose different bio classes ie: marine bio, ag bio, med bio + regular bio)

also teaches the mythology elective and is the swim team coach

annabeth:

we already know this queen is an architect with obvious inspiration from greek architecture

learns how to make blue food for percy and their kids from sally

has traveled all over the world looking at different architecture

learns the basics of many languages so shes able to communicate with the locals

her and leo team up to build a small school near camp half-blood for year rounders so everyone can learn consistently but dw they get summers off

piper:

love her but shes a nepo baby

she doesnt act like it tho

loves her dad to bits but does not like being seen out in public by the paparazzi

him and calypso dont last, maybe a year and a half in they split bc calypso wants to explore the world and leo is very emotionally unstable and calypso has a hard time understanding

they end on good terms but dont ever talk unless its with a group of friends

he goes into a trade to become a mechanic and owns his own shop

starts smoking cigarettes/vaping

his friends dont really approve but they understand he cant quit just yet as hes not in a mental space to do so

goes to therapy with a psychologist whos a demigod that specializes in grieving and war trauma

they all go to therapy but hes the last one to do it

he’s still the ‘happy go lucky’ guy hes always been but as he gets closer w the others they start to see the true sadness in him

piper and him grow a lot closer after jason died and have a big sister little brother relationship

her and frank also dont work out as a romantic relationship, they felt that the age gap was too much after frank turned 18 and hazel was 15 theyre still friends tho

hazel often visits leo in his shop

as much as leo reminds her of sammy, through therapy she has recognized that theyre separate people and to not push all her past feelings for sammy onto leo

not only does she train horses but she also teaches little kids basic math, science, and history to the younger kids

they all call her ms. hazel

she prefers to teach the really young kids (age 4-7)

i relate to frank a lot personality wise

therefore i think hed be a 4/20 fanatic after BOO

hes not stoned during training or during important camp duties

but otherwise you try talkin to him and you dont really notice until you look and see the far off look and red eyes and he just goes “huh?”

after he gets his cool new look from mars he takes really good care of his body including consistent exercise and eating really healthily (maybe he has a soft spot for fast food when hes hi)

him joining the military does not make sense to me

he lost his mom to war, and he was in one himself, idk about you but i would not wanna join the military after being the main character in a war

he studies to be a veterinarian for exotic animals

when no one is around he shifts into the animal to find out whats wrong

HEYO, do you think your Regina GeorgeTM Nightmare would ever have moments of his past self just...idk how to word it rn, just like he slips back. He's there. Something that Nightmare wouldn't normally do, but just this once or twice?

Whether it's drawing the line at children. Killers can kill them. Nightmare would prefer to not....just, something about it is a little too similar for his liking. And if Killer asks, the answer is just 'I have standards' or something to try and cover it up?

Or, maybe a rare 'olive branch' between him and Dream? Perhaps he remembers a small detail and does something nice for once, even if it's a small thing, before going back to his bitchy self? Like, a tiny piece of candy Dream used to like. Or a moment of 'that's MY brother asshole', even if Nightmare still a piece of shit?

Or, not even a moments. What about small mannerisms he has from before, that he doesn't even realize he still has? Maybe it's posture. Maybe it's the way he tilts his head when listening or curious(as a child, it was much more innocent compared to now).

Just a thought I wanted your opinion on!

Ok thank you for asking that cause i wanted to ramble about how i view Nightmare for a long time and now the time has come, cause i usually talk about him in fragments, bits and pieces here and there, never fully diving into his personality as a whole

Thing is, corrupted or not, i like to believe he’s still Nightmare y’know? Beneath all that bitchiness, he’s still the same quiet loner little guy that was just never dealt a fair hand by life

I have talked before very quickly about how i think Nightmare has moments of kindness

And even talked a bit in depth about why i think Nightmare is extremely bitchy

And you better believe i love to think Nightmare has those little moments in which he has a kind thought that just seems out of character for him, but it’s truly not, it’s just that little guy inside is still there, it’s just harder for Nightmare to truly think clearly with all the corruption that consumes him

Not only that but i absolutely love to think a lot of his habits are still the same, maybe developed or slightly changed but still very much the same

and i even sketched a few sketches concerning these two points, i just never shared them

In the first sketch, Nightmare is thinking about bringing Killer to Ccino’s Cat cafe, bringing killer to the cafe has no benefit to Nightmare whatsoever, it only serves to make Killer happy (something that completely opposes Nightmare’s goal of spreading negativity) yet he still thought about it, it’s just one of those moments where his little guy self just shines through

In the second sketch, it shows a lil headcanon of mine that Nightmare never broke a habit (and even something of a coping mechanism /comfort) of finding a tree to sit by when he reads, it helps clear his head, and i like to fully believe Nightmare doesn’t truly realize he does this cause it reminds him of better simpler times when he was just a happy content child reading a book under his mom’s leaves

That aside, sometimes i love to include little details in my art that people usually don’t really notice most the time, one little detail is that i love to have Dream and Nightmare grip their clothes as a child would when they are distressed (especially if it’s specifically anxiety/fear)

That’s just plays into a little headcanon of mine that it’s a habit Dream and Nightmare had since childhood and neither of them broke it, nor they’re ever gonna truly break it, what I’m saying is Nightmare’s child-like behavior is very prominent when he’s distressed, and i love to think so cause Nightmare is first and foremost, a wounded fearful lonely child, someone who’s inner child never healed, so when things scare or distress him, his inner child just takes over and such habits make themselves known

To me Nightmare is still Nightmare, it’s just that the corruption has taken over and made his pain worse and by extension he wants to let that pain out by inflecting it on others, all while not truly realizing that he does it to let his own pain out, in fact, I wholeheartedly believe that if someone (say Killer for example) kept pressing him by questions as to why he does what he does, eventually Nightmare would hit a wall only to realize “huh… why am i doing this?” Cause Nightmare would never settle for a bitchy answer like “why not?” It’s beneath him

Not only that but i fully believe Nightmare can get those moments of weakness in which the past just eats away at him, something I sketched for too :’)

And when it comes to Dream, he definitely has those moments of hesitation that he himself doesn’t fully understand, he fully believes that he doesn’t care for Dream at all, even tho it’s not true

I even talked about Dream and Nightmare coexisting before

And even this animatic, in which Nightmare (while being unphased/ unresponsive to Dream’s affection at first) still allowed Dream to show him his affection and let Dream hug him, only to return it by a very subtle head tilt leaning towards Dream before returning to his bitchy self

And I even wanna bring attention to this lil comic (and the ramble I made in the reblog about it dhhxhx) cause I feel like it also explores Nightmare’s fears to an extent

Fears of feeling weak, cause Nightmare definitely developed the mindset that the strong devours the weak, i like to think Nightmare hates feeling weak cause who would protect him but himself?

That being said, he maybe a bitch, but he’s also a deeply traumatized individual with an inner child who’s in dire need to heal, my man needs therapy and love <33333

I’m thinking about Peter Walter I (Analysis thingy?? Awwywiwiwh)

He’s such a conflicting subject in my mind likeee

Initially all of my headcanons painted him to be a pretty crappy guy. Most of it was for the sake of the development of other characters.

But more recently I’ve been thinking about the more positive side of Peter Walter.

Rabbit called him pappy, and continued to do so even AFTER Red Core. And though that’s pretty depressing because she thought the situation was her fault, she had to love Peter Walter a lot to continue to call him pappy. He had to give her a reason to love him.

He was BEST FRIENDS with Thadeus Becile before the rivalry.

He was ENTHUSIASTIC about his inventions, though they were for Delilah.

He saw things as a learning opportunity, even if they weren’t great!

He was careful. He was safe

I mean just LOOK at him compared to Thadeus Becile

And y’all saw the way VI talked about him in the comic.

He had all these good things going for him. He was a good person. He let that reflect in his work. Even when he was getting extra competitive, he was still careful and considerate enough to not cause major damage to the Cavalcadium like Thadeus did.

But when Delilah died oh my god.

He was such a good guy, but so much about him changed since then. He had so much happen to him, both as a result of his own actions, a result of grief, and a result of war.

And it’s like, he’s such a good guy, but there’s so much that can and HAS disrupted that. And it’s depressing

He became significantly more reckless building way too many robots all for the sake of escaping grief. He was too smart to be losing his mind. It was dangerous.

But not only that, it was during this moment of his life when he accidentally gave his robots sentience.

A terribly ambitious and intelligent man was losing his sane mind when he mistakenly made a miraculous breakthrough that gave his creations life. Also he opened a portal to another dimension.

He was a mad scientist when he became the “father” of his robots as well as give the entire world access to a different reality.

And to make it worse, it was like a blackout! He couldn’t remember what he was doing when he made the breakthrough! The scientist, a man who works very closely with VERY dangerous tools, doesn’t even remember what he was doing!

And let me just remind you that making and advancing his robots was a COPING MECHANISM. Imagine indulging so hard into your coping mechanism to the point where it ends up HURTING YOU. Because that’s what Red Core was to Peter Walter!

So long story short, Peter had to deal with the death of a woman he dearly loved, but didn’t love him back. But ON TOP OF THAT he was a wildly genius scientist. So much to the point where his life was inherently abnormal. He couldn’t do anything normally, INCLUDING coping. So when something went wrong, he didn’t know how to deal with it normally! So he deals with it in the only way he knows how and loses his mind as a result. But losing his mind only made him more successful. And just like that, this man is utterly insane!

BUT WAIT! THERE’S MORE!

BECAUSE NOW THIS MAN HAS TO EXPERIENCE WAR! AND AS I SAID BEFORE, HE’S TOO GENIUS OF A SCIENTIST TO DO ANYTHING NORMALLY AND NOW HE HAS TO GO TO WAR!

IF AN ABANDONED IDENTITY, INSANITY, AND GRIEF ALONE WEREN’T ENOUGH, LET’S JUST ADD SOME PTSD INTO THE MIX.

Two insane yet brilliant scientists thrown into war against each other using their own inventions that were results of their insanities.

And the war is over but now he has to get back to his robots that have essentially turned into his children because now he actually has to look back on what he’s done and work with it.

These robots have been too useful to abandon. Not to mention that they are sentient now. So he can’t just give up his life of science! He’s in too deep. He’s GOT to keep going. And so he did.

Also by the way he’s 32.

So, like, you see what I’m saying. He had every right to become a bad person. He sort of ruined his life by pursuing his passions which is SO depressing, AND THEN HE JUST KEPT GOING?

Of course, he was still messed up. As shown by the fact that he literally killed Rabbit. But considering what he’s been through, I feel like he could’ve done even worse.

And so like, there’s still evidence of that good Peter Walter! I mean, he’s just about as insane as Thadeus was but he still managed to avoid a majority of his footsteps. He kept going. He found love. He found happiness. He changed.

I think it’s made especially clear in Red Core. His sons have repaired a robot that he created in an effort to cope with the pain, only for that robot to remind you of that pain you were trying to escape over and over again. His first robot, and the first robot for him to take out his rage on. He’s seeing this robot again thanks to his sons, who didn’t even design it properly, and he smiled. What was the reason? We don’t know! But it meant something.

That’s where I think a lot of the goodness of VI comes from. I don’t think VI was an anomaly. I don’t think V was either. I think it all started with Peter Walter I. But it was drowned out by his insanity for the longest time.

I have a hard time imagining what kind of a father he was to the robots. He’s got so much good in him, yet he’s been through so much. And it’s like. What did he do.

Bunny has stated multiple times before that Honeybee is sort of laughable in terms of its concept. These days, she sees it more as a “Why did you wrap yourself so tightly around her finger, when people come and go no matter what. Why define your entire life by her” AND WELL

Idk. It’s all crazy to me.

Hello! Headcanons and scenarios for Mikey with a s/o that is not a touchy/affectionate person please? Like she doesn’t mind affection, but it has to be her who initiates first. I’d also like to add that she might seem cold and distant (maybe even haughty) but is actually very sweet and sensitive. Doesn’t like to fight and does not accept people overstepping her boundaries.

She accepts the fact that he’s a gang leader, but is a pacifist at heart and only accepts violence when it is required. Does not want to be involved in his gang issues, like participating in their fights and such. Can be rather distant and prefers to be alone most of the time. Does not enjoy hanging out in larger groups and prefers to be in smaller, if not with only one person. Is blunt and does not filter her words. Is a bit childish and can look pretty air-headed, but is actually really smart and is good at reading people.

She’s really picky with whom she interacts with and is because of this viewed as a bitch by many guys in her school. Like they find her attractive and would want to date her, but are afraid that she’ll reject them and will because of this insult her and call her names. She doesn’t react nor care. She is still very picky but has self esteem issues and can sometimes have very unhealthy coping mechanisms. I’d also like to add that she has a very unhealthy relationship with her mom, and has also poor eating habits because her mom kind of forced her to keep a good figure.

It’s just that I’ve been going through a lot recently and this person kinda represents me in some way. I guess that what I want is some kind of comfort with my comfort character, who is Mikey. I understand if this is to much and you don’t have to answer. Have a good day!

He is a perceptive person and is able to pick up on subtle cues from her to know when she is comfortable with physical contact. He doesn't push her to be more affectionate than she wants to be and is patient in waiting for her to initiate.

➵ When they are alone together, Mikey likes to show his affection through small gestures like cooking for her or bringing her favorite snacks. He knows that she prefers to be alone most of the time, but he wants to make sure that she knows he cares about her and is there for her when she needs him.

➵ Mikey also understands his significant other's pacifist nature and does not pressure her to get involved in his gang issues. He knows that violence is not something that she enjoys or is comfortable with, and he respects her decision to stay out of it.

➵ Despite her cold and distant demeanor, Mikey is able to see through his significant other's tough exterior and knows that she is actually very sweet and sensitive. He appreciates her honesty and bluntness, and he enjoys spending time with her even if she prefers smaller groups.

It was a hot summer day in Tokyo when Mikey decided to pay his girlfriend a surprise visit. He had noticed that she had been distant lately. Mikey, being the leader of the Tokyo Manji Gang, had a lot on his plate, but he still made time to visit her.

As he walked up to her apartment, he could hear her voice coming from inside, she was on the phone with someone. He stopped outside the door and listened for a moment, but he couldn't hear much. Finally, he knocked on the door and waited for her to answer.

When she opened the door, he could see that she had been crying. Her eyes were red, and her cheeks were stained with tears. He frowned and asked her what was wrong.

She tried to put on a brave face, but he could tell she was struggling. "Nothing, it's nothing," she said, but her voice was trembling.

Mikey stepped inside and closed the door behind him. He looked around the apartment, noticing that it was tidy and well-organized, as usual. "What's going on, [Name]-chin?" he asked again, more firmly this time.

She sighed and sat down on the couch, and Mikey sat down next to her. "It's just... my mom," she said, looking down at her hands.

Mikey knew that she had a problematic relationship with her mother, but he didn't know the details. He waited for her to continue.

"She’s been making me feel... small, I guess," she said, still not looking at him. "She keeps telling me that I'm not good enough, that I need to lose weight, that I need to dress differently... and I know it's stupid, but... I just can't help feeling like she’s right. Like I'm not good enough for you, or for anyone."

Mikey's heart sank. He had never seen her like this before. He put his arm around her and pulled her close, trying to comfort her. "Hey, hey," he said softly. "You're perfect the way you are. You don't need to change for anyone. And you're definitely good enough for me."

She leaned into him and rested her head on his shoulder, letting out a small sob. "I know, I know," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "But it's hard... you know? When someone you love doesn't think you're good enough..."

Mikey held her close and rubbed her back soothingly. "I understand," he said, his voice gentle. "But you have to remember that you're not defined by what other people think of you. You're your own person, and you're amazing just the way you are. And I love you for who you are, not for what you look like or how much you weigh."

She sniffled and looked up at him, her eyes red and puffy. "You really mean that?" She asked, her voice small.

"Of course I do," he said, giving her a small smile. "I love you, [Name]-chin. And I'll always be here for you, no matter what."

She smiled back at him, her eyes still watery. "Thank you," she said, sniffling again. "I'm sorry for being so distant lately. I just... didn't want to burden you with my problems."

Mikey shook his head. "You're never a burden, [Name]-chin. I want to help you through this. Whatever you need, just tell me."

She leaned in and kissed him softly, her hands on his chest. "Thank you," she whispered. "I love you.”

Favourite game of the series?:2 wins overall, due to how much I loved learning about the new companions and all their little side quests and the excitement of prepping for the big mission. 3 has the best overall mechanics though, and the npc’s being able to banter is top notch.

MShep or FShep?: Both, but I tend to create themsheps anyway.

Earthborn, Colonist or Spacer?:Keahi is a colonist, Blaise a spacer AU. I think all the backgrounds have juicy potential but find the idea of growing up out there in this big new galaxy exciting. 

Biotics or Tech:Probably tech for my sheps, but I love having a biotic in the squad as backup. I’ll usually have 1 biotic ability as my Shep’s bonus and chalk it up to funky side effects of how they resurrected Shep in 2.

Paragon or Renegade:Generally paragon but some renegade interrupts.

Favourite Class:Infilitrator. Sniper Rifles are always my fave (or archers in fantasy games).

Favourite Companion: Such a tough question. As there’s a romance question later, i’ll save Thane for then. I’m also going to answer as me rather than who my shep’s would pick. I think Mordin is honestly the companion I got most excited about going to chat with or hearing unique lines from. And while not ‘companions’, I have such soft spots for Traynor and Cortez and consider them honourary squaddies.

Least favourite Companion:I mean there are plenty who I think have questionable morals/ideas/attitudes, but it doesn’t make me dislike them, it makes them interesting and gives fresh perspectives, so this is also a tough question. I feel bad for saying it, but I guess Liara? Only in that she gets so much priority in 1 and 3 but I don’t find her as interesting to chat with compared to others and also found her going from nerdy excitable anxious dork in 1 to ‘flay your mind’ corpo bad bitch in 2 gave me whiplash. The fact she sold shep’s body is another point deducted. And the way she let Shepard drop like hot shit in shadowbroker too, oof. I really don’t dislike her though and still find her overall character interesting.

My squad selection:I change it up a lot so I get to hear all the different things they have to say

Favourite In-game romance:Thane, followed by Steve Cortez and Samantha Traynor. Is anyone surprised?!

Other pairings I like:Feron x Kolyat, Thane X Cortez (why romance them separately when I can put them together instead!) Femshep x Miranda. I tend to headcanon my shep’s as older than the in game age so Jack feels too young for them, but I do love the Jack romance generally. 

Favourite NPC:That one completely chill smoking salarian in the citadel DLC. Dandenbo’s icon always makes me grin reminding me of him. Also the salarian Thane rescued who had his whole world rocked and wrote an email about it. You go you funky little horny guy.

Favourite Antagonist:TIM is interesting because you get that having to work together and resenting the hell out of it aspect in 2. And look he’s by no means an effective antagonist, but Donovan Hock is objectively very funny.

Favourite Mission:The suicide mission. It isn’t the best mechanically, but it’s very satisfying after working towards it the whole game and getting yourself as ready as can be.

Favourite Loyalty Mission:Thane, i’m biased. Grunt’s rite of passage is also just fun.

Favourite DLC:I’ll go with 1 from each game. Bring down the sky- I just find something pretty satisfying about pootling around shutting the 3 rockets off and finding all the little out the way side bits. And that view! Lair of the Shadowbroker- Feron my beloved. Gotta save my boy. Leviathan- felt like a breath of fresh air with the piecing together clues, and such a great creepy atmosphere. You really finish it feeling like ‘this may help, but at what cost?’ and it feels significant.

Control, Synthesis or Destroy:So funny story, I got so confused the first time I played and kind of panicked, completely missed that you could choose to run a different direction and just ran full pelt forwards yeeting shepard to the centre. When that activated synthesis I spent the next 40 odd minutes watching my computer in growing utter horror/confusion. Anyway destruction is the actual choice but fuck that whole ‘this has to genocide the geth and Edi’ thing fuuuuuck.

Favourite Weapon:Upgrading to the widow is nice but I am quite fond of the M-97 Viper in earlier/lower levels, the 6 shot mag is especially favourable.

Favourite Place:I really love the brutalist architecture of Port Hanshan.

Soul wants to protect him in a potentially self-destructive way since he's someone else's feelings by asking him to leave them all alone, whilst Mind might respect him more cos he's known as morality. Tbh you do make a good point, Mind probably would respect him more because he’s Morality, but the resemblance of his role and Heart’s just triggers something in Mind.

When I first made this AU, I thought it’d be neat that Logan would be a robot. (I put this into my design for him but I may or may not scrap it, we’ll see.) I also headcanon that Mind has mechanical prosthetic hands, and his voice modulator is also machinery. You know what that means????

Yup that’s right Mind’s jealous!!! He thinks he should be more robotic, considering that he’s a broader concept that Logan and he’s a robot. Besides, his whole insecurity of needing to be more synthetic is just dksgdjdbsjdhsjdh. It’s part of my interpretation of him that I love and you cannot stop me from including this in the AU.

Now to your first additional question:

Also, on a scale from the most to least convinced of Heart’s manipulation, it goes: Roman, Patton, Logan, Virgil, Remus, Janus. I put Roman at the top because he does NOT trust Janus at all, who is the main one who is saying that he’s manipulating everyone. Patton views him as a son, and he trusts what people say, but yet again, he does trust Janus. Logan is below him because I feel he does notice the signs of manipulation, but he doesn’t think it’ll have any lasting consequences. Virgil is next because he was already anxious meeting Heart, and then being given proof of him being not as good as he seems threw him off. He does think Heart can change though (or at least hopes). Remus is next because he trusts Janus a lot, and he’s close with Soul who knows for a fact that Heart lies and manipulates. So he’s like “ah. I see. Welp time to give him a beating” and then comes up with cruel pranks bc he thinks Heart deserves them. Janus catches up to all the manipulation, being Deceit and all. And he also has a good enough relationship with Soul to know about Heart’s tendency to manipulate. AND he’s also close enough with Mind to get a view from his perspective, as Heart’s enemy.

When/If Heart has an outburst like he did in RoE, then shit would go DOWN.

Firstly, Logan, Virgil, Remus, and Janus would have their suspicions proved and would trust him far less than before. Logan and Virgil would still have hope, but Remus and Janus would not. Roman would have an “Are we the bad guys?” moment while Patton freaks out and lies to himself to convince himself that Heart is more than that, and that he is truly good. This would also cause Janus and Patton to argue, with Janus telling Patton to admit the facts and Patton telling Janus that Heart is more than a man who hurts people. Patton’s relationship with Mind would falter more as well.

So… yeah. Thanks for all the questions!

OFFICIAL BLOG POST ABOUT THE PLANT TWINK

So uh. full disclosure, this was meant to be a breakdown of the entire blog post, but there's not anything super interesting besides one piece of concept art I ended up having a LOT to say about and another tiny piece of info I'll explain in another post.

So, this post starts off showing the ideation for the basic design of the character, see here:

Here we see a wild array of drastically unique potential Support hero designs, varied in gender, ethnicity, and costume design, which the post says culminated into the final design. Gonna throw in a bit of personal speculation on what these earlier designs might've been planned to do:

The leftmost one seems to bending water or some other kind of substance as they float slightly off the ground. Possibly could've used water to help their teammates move around the map more freely? Definitely the simplest design of the bunch, but not bad either.

Next is a... wanting to say Japanese or Chinese but not totally certain man who appears to be holding small (acupuncture?) needles and carrying a gourd jar (I think? Not sure what they're called, again not totally sure please don't kill me). My guess is that he would've had a kit based in large part on traditional medicine from (whichever part of the world it is). I'm assuming that he would've thrown those needles as an attack/healing ability like Ana's darts, and the container would be some kind of throwable burst heal/utility? All that does sound just like a mix of Ana and Kiriko though, so that's why I'm assuming he got shelved. Okay so, belated edit: the only character of the 4 that has any specific accompanying text says: "One of these pieces features an older physician who drew healing energy into his hands and blasted it into his allies, a bit like Moira’s Coalescence." I misinterpreted this for a while as being for the fourth character of the set, but I realized this was almost certainly the "Older Physician" of the bunch. If I'm understanding it right this time, I think his healing would've essentially been healing with hadoukens?? I can definitely see this working visually with Lifeweaver's healing mechanic.

The detail sticking out to me the most is that he appears to have...

a Chronal Accelerator?? Probably not, but this does seem to be a very specific high-tech part of his design. Speaking of specific high-tech design details that remind me of other characters, there's one detail that did make it from this guy to the final design of Lifeweaver:

The little uhhh. Tube thingy. Around the collar. Yeah that. I don't know what it does. But they both got it!

Third design features a woman wrapped thoroughly in some kind of vines, with a familiar-looking flower behind her body (though this one 6-pointed instead of Lifeweaver's 5, which makes her look even more like Volcarona). I'd wager this is where the devs were starting to figure out how their ability ideas would be executed in a similar means to the end result. Personal theory: This character would've ended up being another Oasis scientist and would've been headcanonned to hell and back as Moira's rebound. Good for her.

Now oohohoohohohoooo, this last one

Look at this MAN. This ABSOLUTE LAD. Frankly I'm mad they showed this guy off, because now I wish this guy didn't get shelved.

With the exception of the plant themes, I think this guy could have very realistically had all of Lifeweaver's current kit, at least in some way. The large clock emblem on the ground could've materialized into the floating platform. And instead of pulling allies back to safety with a vine, my theory is that he would've had a targeted recall, sending allies back to where they were a few seconds ago.

This also ties into my hypothetical lore theory: This guy almost certainly would've had something to do with the Chronal tech that Tracer uses. This would go along with the trend of new heroes tending to have direct ties to existing heroes, and despite being the poster girl, Tracer doesn't really have any unique ties to other heroes outside of being friends from Overwatch, so having some character with at least a shared technology tying them together would've been interesting.

So uh. Yeah sorry flower boy, but if you and this guy were dangling off a bridge about to collapse, I know who I'd be saving.

But yeah! Very interesting set of concept art, and while sadly it doesn't seem like any one of these concepts went too far, or if they did then we didn't get to hear about what happened before they got shelved, it's still super cool to see them anyways. Always happy to get a chance to analyze Overwatch's hero design process.

grimora for the ask game !!

Favorite thing about them: I feel like this is cheating because it’s so niche but I love the skeleton hand that rings the bell in the Finale (honestly Grimora’s whole aesthetic in the finale is phenomenal but if I had to narrow it down to one detail it would be that). Also a very small detail but I like how in her idle animations her hands are always folded over her abdomen; reminds me of the way people are laid to rest in coffins and really cements her undead status for me.

Least favorite thing about them: I wish she had some/more lines talking about her subordinates. We really don’t get to know much about how she feels about them which is sad. (I’d say the whole “killing everyone” thing too but… I don’t completely blame her on that one—similar to the other Scrybes’ Batshit Machinations, I can see why she felt like she needed to do it. Not to mention she didn’t technically succeed so I’ll give her a pass (I say that jokingly but holy shit did it catch me off-guard in my first playthrough))

Favorite line: This bit in her boss fight. Absolutely insane mechanic (just killing all of your cards but instead of the PG “turn them into gold” she just casually hands you back their lifeless bodies. Also pretty good foreshadowing in hindsight).

brOTP: I’ve seen a couple of works where Grimora has Royal as her right-hand man and they both get to be pirates together and you guys are absolutely correct. They should get to explore the high seas (or at very least I’d like to imagine Royal spins a lot of tales about his time when he was alive—a lot of which are pretty exaggerated—and she listens and makes sure to write them down regardless).

OTP: Her and any/all of the other Scrybes. She deserves better but the other three immortal shitheads she has to share an archipelago with will have to suffice. I’d say they’re all divorced but that’s probably putting it too simply. It’s more accurate to say they’re all fighting to see who’s the best at inventing a brand new type of complicated relationship. They’re all winning.

(I’ve also seen her paired off with the Woodcarver—not my thing personally, but I think it’s cute)

nOTP: Haven’t seen any Grimora ships that I don’t like honestly. But again I’m not super into shipping so that might be part of why this category has been blank the past couple of times—I’m not seeing many ships so there’s not any for me to report on.

Random headcanon: The dead can’t really “sleep” (and don’t really need to)—they just sort of “fall prone” into a state where they don’t really rest and don’t dream. As a result, a “sleeping” Grimora just looks like a corpse… more like a corpse than usual, anyway (she already rarely breathes and her heartbeat is so slow the event sometimes surprises her, but you know, completely lifeless). This would be disconcerting for the other Scrybes if not for her other far more concerning physiological traits. Like the first time she came to a meeting with her head in her hands—literally—and a needle and thread to sew it back on while the others talked. Not much got done that day.

Unpopular opinion: As much as I wish she did get more screentime I can see why that wasn’t really possible. Inscryption is already a pretty long game as-is, adding a whole card segment for Grimora—while it would be fun DLC—isn’t really feasible in the base game. Having said that, I do still wish we got to know a little more about her, even if it was just via some lines from her subordinates.

Song I associate with them: My knee-jerk is Necromancin Dancin by Bear Ghost just because it’s a batshit ridiculous villain song about the undead (she deserves to be a little more unhinged than how she gets portrayed by a lot of people; just look at the other Scrybes), but for something a little more fittingly melancholic I’d go for Grave Digger by Blues Sarcaceno or Dance While the Sky Crashes Down by Jason Webley.

(Character Ask thing)

Alistair

First impression: I had a vague idea of who he is by the time I played Origins (I played Origins last), but my first impression was something like, "Aww he's just a funny lil guy."

Impression now: I don't think the first impression was inaccurate, but I do think he does a really good job of playing dumb (and I definitely bought it at first). I think it (and the joking) are a defense mechanism that worked well in templar training, so he's carried on doing it. He likes to be underestimated (especially when he does not want to be in charge!) and jokes are only one way he manages others' perceptions of him. It makes me extremely sad to think about how he's been searching for a family all his life, thinks he's found it in the Grey Wardens, and then loses it utterly.

Favorite moment: I really like the conversation that goes with his mother's medallion. Also the eulogy he gives if the HoF dies (I uh...played a Cousland once, they got engaged, and then she died 😬) but it's a really lovely speech.

Idea for a story: I have a loose outline for it, but I have plans for rewriting/writing around the hardening conversation (because I don't think it should happen in just one conversation). I think telling him to stand up for himself shouldn't sound like "get ahold of yourself." Also he and Wen going into the fight with Loghain, which is a scene I've been fiddling with for a while.

Unpopular opinion: If not for Inquisition, I would let him be a Warden. I think he'd be happier. Despite my dislike of Anora, she is a competent ruler. Alistair could absolutely be good at it, too, but I think life with the Wardens would be less isolating.

Favorite relationship: I mean! Wen and Alistair for life. Their friendship means so much to me. But as far as canon dynamics go, I like he and Zev a lot.

Favorite headcanon: I do not believe that Alistair is straight or cis. Not a very detailed headcanon, but there it is.

Oh, also, I like to pretend that he and Fiona get to meet eventually. In my head, that has happened. He deserves to know at least one family member and why their role in his life went down the way it did

Oghren

First impression: Oh cool, dwarf companion! Now I can finally get rid of all this booze I've been carrying for the whole game.

Impression now: Ahh man. Oghren. Could've been such a cool character. Could've supported the themes about being used up and discarded by people in power when you are no longer useful. Unfortunately, the constant sexual harassment is so off-putting that I cannot see past it. I think he's really interesting in theory, but like...his writers were on some nonsense when they put together his dialogue.

Also...the fact that without the gifts in the DLC packs, the only way you can befriend the alcoholic is to give him alcohol...doesn't feel great.

Favorite moment: I think his introduction in the Awakenings DLC is really funny

Idea for a story: Errr well! Wen almost kills him once. On account of the sexual harassment (and the fact that the particular brand of comments he makes really strongly remind her of Vaughan). Also her looming out of the corner of his eye whenever he's running late to visit his kid. He will be a good father or he will pay the price, and that is a threat.

Unpopular opinion: Idk! I think he is definitely a product of his time, so to speak, and the "edgy" tone they were going for accommodated this particular type of toxic masculinity. It's a shame, because I think a frank discussion of addiction and rehabilitation would have been really impactful, but...what can you do?

Favorite relationship: Having just read all of his dialogue with every companion, I am going to have to go with Shale. I think they have some interesting conversations about golems and dwarves.

Favorite headcanon: That he gets clean sometime in the course of Awakening and pulls it together for his family.

BRADLEY UPPERCRUST III AND TANK HEADCANONS

(I'm starting with Tank because he deserves to be first for a change. ^^)

Tank

Alrighty, starting with the sweet boi!

Everyone’s favorite 9-ish foot tall frat guy is studying to work in the wonderful field of mechanics! I believe he’d be the type to have grown up REALLY into cars, and so he decided to use this passion to help choose his career! 

He knows he can’t be a skateboarder forever, and actually has his future planned out surprisingly well! 

He drives a tiny red Volkswagen Beetle and I will die on that hill. He got it from his dad when he turned 16 and it’s his absolute pride and joy. He’ll kill anyone (Bradley included) if they so much as THINK about scratching his baby.

When he isn’t studying or skating around campus, there’s a pretty good chance he and Bradley are kicking back at the nearest party.

Now, he isn’t sure how, but SOMEHOW he became the designated drink holder around his second year. Let’s face it, nobody’s going to mess with your beer if it's in TANK’S hands. 

And he isn’t complaining, either! Holding and protecting other peoples’ drinks has scored him a date many a time.

And if any of his friends were to ever start a fight at any of these parties, you’d better believe he’s the one ending it for them. Without him, half of the Gammas would be dead at this point. He knows this and reminds them of this constantly.

So many other fraternities have tried to steal Tank from the Gammas. But Tank’s nothing if not loyal, and never pays their offers any mind. He’s a Gamma Mu Mu, through and through!

Speaking of, he has actually been in the Gammas LONGER than Bradley has, if only by a few months. Before he came along, TANK was set up to be the next president. He accepted his defeat gracefully, though, and was more than happy taking the role as Brad’s left hand.

Back to the fun stuff now; Tank’s only been to any of the college big dances ONCE. The poor baby LOVES to dance, but is NOT a fan of dressing up in tuxes and things like that. He’s most comfortable in his muscle-shirts and converses. 

He only goes to the “fancy,” dances if someone specifically ASKS him to go. Otherwise he stays at the Gamma house and works out all by himself.

He spends a LOT of time working out, actually. 

NEVER takes notes in class. It’s a problem he’s slowly working on, but still very much a problem. He puts way too much trust in memory alone.His professors get onto him for it all the time. But, he’s never failed a class, so he can’t be doing too horrible!

Bradley

He’s studying Business and Marketing! Have you ever noticed he sounds like a car salesman when he talks? That’s why.

Unlike Tank, Bradley DOES take notes in class. His notes are all very detailed and precise, leaving no room for him to forget anything of importance. 

He’s the teacher’s pet in MOST of his classes and it drives certain people NUTS. 

He’s a perfect little angel when the professors are looking. 

He is a MASTER at getting his homework and assignments done in a timely, neat fashion. Everything is organized and typed out perfectly. This ALSO angers his classmates.

He’s a huge fan of studying outside. It’s not uncommon to find him skateboarding towards the campus park with a bag full of textbooks, notepads, and highlighters. He spends HOURS at a time out there some days. People like Max know to steer clear of him when he’s studying because he can get downright MEAN if he’s disturbed. 

Major chihuahua vibes there. XD

Idk why, he just strikes me as the kind to like being outside as much as possible while he’s still young and free.

SPEAKING OF YOUNG AND FREE- This man single handedly throws the BEST frat parties. He’s got the best music, food, and drinks around every corner. 

Scary good at all of the games. He plays a MEAN game of darts and an even MEANER game of billiards.

I can’t see him being a huge drinker either, so while his opponents are ready to fall flat on their faces, he’s just the slightest bit tipsy and smiling like a champ as he DESTROYS them.

When he isn’t partying, skating, or studying, THAT’S when Max and his friends are in trouble. He isn’t the SOLE instigator, but 70-ish% of all fights between his crew and Max’s were started by him. This includes probably the biggest prank-war the campus had ever seen. (They ended up calling a truce after Bobby’s eyebrows got singed off and Bradley nearly broke his neck falling down the library steps.)

I decided to do headcanons for the characters separately for this one. Hope you like it!

Boyfriend, Girlfriend, and Pico (separate) with touched starved S/O headcanons

Boyfriend:

When he found out about your desire for physical affection, he had an idea: what if he carried you around in public, so you don't have to wait until at home to snuggle. It sounded a bit strange, but you loved the idea.

But he looks a bit short to be carrying anyone past a five year old child. Maybe he was joking?

You're assumptions were wrong in the best possible way. This kid must've eaten protein powder for breakfast, because there was a lot more muscle in him than you thought.

And he would happily carry you out in public as he had offered, showing you off around the mall while you held a drink with two straws to share.

Some clearly salty guy would then accuse Boyfriend of being a show off carrying his partner and looking all lovey dovey, when it was really just him spending time with you in a way you both liked.

Don't worry, he would never let go of you to throw punches. Instead, in his usual beep bop style, he challenged the guy to a rap battle. Some passerbys started to watch in interest.

And it was then you learned that he could not only carry you, but carry you while singing. The guy soon stormed off, humiliated, after another successful rap battle from your favourite little cyan haired hero.

And outside of carrying you, you two like to put on a movie while snuggling in bed. However, you would be too relaxed to stay awake and could never remember what happened in the movie.

And if you can sing too, you could sing like Skid and Pump does and Boyfriend could carry you while you sing a duet against your opponent.

So when it comes to wanting physical affection, you are lucky to have someone like Boyfriend.

Girlfriend:

You are blessed.

She's the squishy and curvy girl people dream of. She pats your head, as you use her as a pillow, whispering sweet little nothings until you sleep.

Remember to check your face before going out, because you never know if there is another lipstick marking from her kisses after a cuddle session.

And she finds it amusing how much you enjoy the squishiness of her body, allowing you to give her surprise hugs when you want, being that most women would be judged for such a thing.

But this woman is still a demon.

One day, she's down to snuggle and no questions are asked. But the next, she's teasing your neediness.

"Not so fast," she would say as she held you away from her with her hand on your head. "I wanna see you earn it this time."

She wants her partners to have skill in rapping, and if you haven't shown any in a while or if she feels like she wants to hear you sing, then she'll say you can't cuddle until you find a tall bad boy to rap against.

She's joking there, since the tall bad boy rappers are almost never worth the trauma of facing, but she still wants you to find someone.

And once you do and beat them in a rap, she would get off her speakers and give you the affection you've been craving. And yes, she'll do it even if it embarrasses you in front of those watching. It's what you wanted, right?

Pico:

It's been a long time since he has dated Boyfriend, and he hasn't had much physical affection since then. With his paranoia and murderous tendencies, it seems he has forgotten how nice a simple hug can feel.

Not long into the relationship, you got physical for the first time and gave him a surprise hug from behind.

But this didn't end too well, with him panicking and asking you who broke into the house.

"No, nothing's wrong!"

"Then what is it!?" he nearly screamed with his Uzis pointed in different directions.

"I just wanted a hug."

"Oh... Okay?"

For a while, you felt bad for how much you gave him hugs and cuddles. He was interpreting being embraced as you needing his protection from someone. But don't worry, he eventually got used to it, and even started to enjoy it.

the idea that the violence in 3rd life/last life is caused by something supernatural - ie. a "red life bloodlust", a curse/illness, etc - kind of. Sucks actually?

hear me out. there IS supernatural influence in the series - martyn's mysterious figure, and the boogeyman in last life is arguably some kind of supernatural force infecting the players. however. what makes 3rd life good, and what will hopefully make last life good too, is that every choice was one the players chose of their own volition.

in the series to my memory theres some evidence that being red (being Dead) affected players' dispositions/states of being somewhat - ie. scar talking about how hollow he felt, ren referring to red scar as a "dead rotting corpse" - but I can't remember a single time the players blamed their atrocities or choices specifically on the fact they were red. in week 8, ren laments that he's been "blinded by the violence", not by him being red. you could argue that skizz is an example of "red life bloodlust" but skizz is just Like That! "i love you guys and i hate them!"

no. third life was, and last life will be, an exploration of how regular decent people can feel pushed to do horrible things, whether that's by a boogeyman illness or because you've seen one too many precious things burn or simply in order to protect the people you care about most. the first few weeks of third life serve as a reminder that our players are people, that they were once friends, and that the tragedy of the series is that their own actions and circumstance violently tore them all apart from one another.

third life and last life are minecraft "lord of the flies" - both are explorations of what could happen if a small group of people were isolated in extreme, life-or-death circumstances

maybe it's just me but including headcanons about a bloodlust or an uncontrollable urge to kill upon reaching your red life feels like it takes away agency and honestly a lot of interesting character nuance! for example: by including a headcanon of "red life bloodlust" you take SO much power out of Ren's character arc in season 1. Ren was a kind and gentle man who was stepped on and bullied a few too many times, who learned to stand up for himself, became a ruler fit to lead his people, and then gave up his life to become red to protect the ones he loved - but he also murdered about half the server in the process! and that's what's interesting about him- that he's good and bad at the same time, and all of those aspects, those faults and virtues, are entirely his own. and in a moment of clarity he begged his right hand man for support because he realized just how far he had fallen from the path of a kind man.

the boogeyman system is a much better way of having a mechanic similar to the idea of a "bloodlust" but it works better because the boogeyman player always has a choice. bdubs could have taken any opportunity to kill etho but he didn't and instead he waited to kill grian. it was impulsive, but it was a decision he made, and now bdubs has to live with those consequences.

also like. if you think of it as a "theory" then the idea of red life bloodlust can be disproven with folks like tango, grian, and martyn in 3rd life (tango setting up a death game, grian Literally Trapping And Murdering Three People, and martyn often hunting people down in order to defend his king's honor) who all did the same stuff while green

anyway. tl;dr give red lives their agency and let them just be dead and kinda pissed about it instead of like, possessed by bloodlust

He doesn't know how to ask and is too anxious you would hate the idea to ask, though.

X = X-ray (let’s see what’s going on under those clothes)

Echo lost a lot of his muscles while in stasis. He is slowly gaining that and his color back though. Along with getting upgrades for his prosthetics. Like an actual hand that Tech built for him. As for his dick, it's average clone size. Longer and thicker than the average person's.

Y = Yearning (how high is their sex drive?)

His isn't really too high. Even once he gets used to the fact that you love him and his body, he doesn't really have that high of a sex drive. He controls himself pretty good and doesn't really even need to jack off much unless he's really stressed. That doesn’t mean he won't initiate sex with you the moment he sees you after a long mission though. 

Z = Zzz (how quickly they fall asleep afterwards)

He for the most part tries to stay up, playing with your hair until your asleep above/below/beside him. Wherever the two of you decide to cuddle against one another. It's sort of his way of making sure it's all real though. Some nights he is the first to pass out though.

Hello fellow person with fma Briggs ocs, do you want to tell me more about yours? (Believe it or not, but that moodboard with those images that remind you of Briggs got me curious about your ocs/Briggs headcanons :3)

YES OF COURSE, I'D LOVE TO!!

Okay first one is Casther. He's Captain at Briggs. We already have Buccaneer as Captain at Briggs but I like to think that he is head of the defense department while Casther is head of the attacking department.

His main responsibilities are leading a small squad in missions (often on Drachma territory), patrols and such.

One important thing to know about him: He's a white wolf chimera! He can't transform like Heinkel etc (for several reasons, no. 1 being that I can't draw animals), but he has some abilities (for example great smelling and hearing) and wolf-ish features (grey hair and fangs).

And to his personality: He's a goof who likes to take his job more or less seriously depending on the situation. For example he loves pulling pranks (mostly to annoy Miles). However he's deadly serious when it counts.

Second oc is Val: He's a doctor at Briggs. The two Briggs docs are specialized in automails and cold climate treatment. Val on the other hand is specialized on treating combat wounds and performing surgeries. He's quite the contrast to the other two docs (very chill and extrovert), being rather grumpy and not as talkative.

Fact about Val: Olivier and him are childhood friends! Being both the eldest of influential family in Central they grew up close and remained friends later on. Once Olivier got the command over Briggs she recruited him (and Casther).

Also important: Casther and Val are idiots in love who think they're being sneaky and secretive (but literally everyone at Briggs knows).

Some quick thoughts abt our Briggs favorites:

Olivier is self explanatory bc we see a lot about her character. I'm definitely team "she's gay af" tho.

Buccaneer is very serious most of the time but I think most is bc he wants strangers to see him as intimidating. But that man is a dork. He's definitely in for joking around a lot and helping out with pranks every now and then too.

Miles is kinda hard to read and this may seem ooc to some but I like to see him as the one who takes his job the most seriously. Which leads to him to regularly lose his mind bc some idiots (Casther) pull a lot of jokes. Give this man a break.

Next oc is Thea: Take the 'guy finds child and raises it as his own' trope and put it into Briggs (I'm a sucker for this trope and it basically was why I even created my Briggs ocs). She's from Drachma and a squad of Briggs soldiers found her completely on her own when they were on a mission. Long story short is that they took her back to Briggs and in the end Casther became her guardian (or: he and Val became her dads). She grows up to be a total badass, being on the field regularly.

These were my main ocs whom I constantly draw. Here are some others, all part of Casther's squad:

Silas: First Lieutenant, he's a tactician. Whenever he's not in the field with Casther, he assists Miles in planning out strategies. He's the nice and most responsible one out of the group.

Richard: He's a sniper and he once wanted to be a state alchemist. Dude can't draw a straight circle tho, so he's rather useless as an alchemist. Also he's a bastard.

Brooks: The heavy man in the squad and they're a pretty good mechanic too! Or to put it differently: every group needs a himbo and that is Brooks job.

Them and Richie are often involved with delevoping new weapons and technologies.

These were the most important things, but actually there's a lot more to it (especially Casther being a chimera, Val and Olivier's childhood friendship) so feel free to ask for details!

Some general things I like to hc about Briggs: They're really badass but also huge dorks. I mean they're at the fort most of the year, I don't think they'd have much free time?? So they'd definitely be a big family who loves doing stupid/silly things like pulling pranks on each others.
