As cameras becomes more normalized (Sarah Bernhardt encouraging it, grifters on the rise, young artists using it), I wanna express how I will never turn to it because it fundamentally bores me to my core. There is no reason for me to want to use cameras because I will never want to give up my autonomy in creating art. I never want to become reliant on an inhuman object for expression, least of all if that object is created and controlled by manufacturing companies. I paint not because I want a painting but because I love the process of painting. So even in a future where everyoneâs accepted it, Iâm never gonna sway on this.
if i have to explain to you that using a camera to take a picture is not the same as using generative ai to generate an image then you are a fucking moron.
#ask me#anon#no more patience for this#i've heard this for the past 2 years#âan object created and controlled by companiesâ anon the company cannot barge into your home and take your camera away#or randomly change how it works on a whim. you OWN the camera that's the whole POINT#the entire point of a camera is that i can control it and my body to produce art. photography is one of the most PHYSICAL forms of artmakin#you have to communicate with your space and subjects and be conscious of your position in a physical world.#that's what makes a camera a tool. generative ai (if used wholesale) is not a tool because it's not an implement that helps you#do a task. it just does the task for you. you wouldn't call a microwave a âtoolâ#but most importantly a camera captures a REPRESENTATION of reality. it captures a specific irreproducible moment and all its data#read Roland Barthes: Studium & Punctum#generative ai creates an algorithmic IMITATION of reality. it isn't truth. it's the average of truths.#while conceptually that's interesting (if we wanna get into media theory) but that alone should tell you why a camera and ai aren't the sam#ai is incomparable to all previous mediums of art because no medium has ever solely relied on generative automation for its creation#no medium of art has also been so thoroughly constructed to be merged into online digital surveillance capitalism#so reliant on the collection and commodification of personal information for production#if you think using a camera is âautomationâ you have worms in your brain and you need to see a doctor#if you continue to deny that ai is an apparatus of tech capitalism and is being weaponized against you the consumer you're delusional#the fact that SO many tumblr lefists are ready to defend ai while talking about smashing the surveillance state is baffling to me#and their defense is always âwell i don't engage in systems that would make me vulnerable to ai so if you own an apple phone that's on youâ#you aren't a communist you're just self-centered

Judgement Day is great because Tarlton the astronaut is specifically assessing the planet to basically join the big Earth Federation of Planets, which is like a lot of utopian space federations in sci fi, so the worlds have to be fair and just with equal rights.
Which like, given the federation in the story is founded around Earth sort of shows Earth had their shit that much together that they even formed a federation that wouldn't let worlds in until they also had it together. And they actually created the robots but allowed them the ability to build new robots and put them on a planet to develop on their own, hoping they'd form a good society as they carved out their own destiny. At this point, the robots want to join the federation so Tarlton is assessing the development of their society.
The most important part of the story is the setup. The two types of robots have different rights but they specifically hearken to Jim Crow law. Different spaces to wait for the bus, the orange robots sit at the front of the bus, the blue have to sit in the back. Blue robots aren't allowed at orange robot "charging stations" ie restaurants. Blue robots are purposefully given substandard education.
There's a whole whole huge emphasis where Tarlton points out to his orange guide in the blue robot factory how the blue robots have identical internal parts and literally only the color sheathing is different.
And when the orange robot protests that these problems existed before his time and he can't fix them alone, Tarlton points out the robot needs to ask themself the question of why their society is not ready and encourage other robots to ask themselves the question, too. Washing their hands of the problem as "it's too big to change" isn't enough, he advocates questioning and changing society, taking the effort.
But also gives them hope - and in doing so advocates hope for the reader, for the real world. Just like Tarlton tells the robot their society can overcome their prejudices someday, he's also painting a picture of a future Earth that might overcome it someday, just like the story.
Like...it's not subtle. At all. So the "twist" honestly isn't even that twisty. For the time, I'm sure it blew the minds of some readers, because it was printed in 1953. But from a story standpoint, it's completely logical that a story about prejudice that directly draws from then-irl-law might end up with the astronaut (whose helmet obscures his face until the end) being black.
And that's the difference between some of the good scifi "twists" vs the bad ones. A good surprise at the end of these stories feels like a mic drop rather than a random ass pull.
oooh have you ever done a post about the ridiculous mandatory twist endings in old sci-fi and horror comics? Like when the guy at the end would be like "I saved the Earth from Martians because I am in fact a Vensuvian who has sworn to protect our sister planet!" with no build up whatsoever.
Yeah, that is a good question - why do some scifi twist endings fail?
As a teenager obsessed with Rod Serling and the Twilight Zone, I bought every single one of Rod Serlingâs guides to writing. I wanted to know what he knew.
The reason that Rod Serlingâs twist endings work is because they âanswer the questionâ that the story raised in the first place. They are connected to the very clear reason to even tell the story at all. Rodâs story structures were all about starting off with a question, the way he did in his script for Planet of the Apes (yes, Rod Serling wrote the script for Planet of the Apes, which makes sense, since it feels like a Twilight Zone episode): âis mankind inherently violent and self-destructive?â The plot of Planet of the Apes argues the point back and forth, and finally, we get an answer to the question: the Planet of the Apes was earth, after we destroyed ourselves. The reason the ending has âoomphâ is because it answers the question that the story asked.Â
My friend and fellow Rod Serling fan Brian McDonald wrote an article about this where he explains everything beautifully. Check it out. His articles are all worth reading and heâs one of the most intelligent guys Iâve run into if you want to know how to be a better writer.
According to Rod Serling, every story has three parts: proposal, argument, and conclusion. Proposal is where you express the idea the story will go over, like, âare humans violent and self destructive?â Argument is where the characters go back and forth on this, and conclusion is where you answer the question the story raised in a definitive and clear fashion.Â
The reason that a lot of twist endings like those of M. Night Shyamalanâs and a lot of the 1950s horror comics fail is that theyâre just a thing that happens instead of being connected to the theme of the story.Â
One of the most effective and memorable âfinal panelsâ in old scifi comics is EC Comicsâ âJudgment Day,â where an astronaut from an enlightened earth visits a backward planet divided between orange and blue robots, where one group has more rights than the other. The point of the story is âis prejudice permanent, and will things ever get better?â And in the final panel, the astronaut from earth takes his helmet off and reveals he is a black man, answering the question the story raised.Â

That last episode really wasnât as interesting as the discourse suggests, and thatâs pretty much the problem:
First, Ludinusâs fight was not of the caliber expected for a final boss fight, which (in combination with his staff) suggests that it wonât be the last time weâll see him. The issue is that the audience is generally quite tired of Ludinus because (1) he has made far too many appearances for a villain with a single-minded goal, (2) his interactions with the PCs are uninteresting because his motivations don't resonate with them in agreement or opposition, and (3) Delilah did the whole âCerberus Assembly wizard who refuses to stay deadâ thing in this very campaign (plus it was far more thematically appropriate for a necromancer) and that takes the dramatic tension out of the possibility. No one cast member bears the blame for those 3 issues; Matt probably should have pivoted to give Ludinus additional motivations when the Hells had so consistently demonstrated an inability to commit to the gods question, and the players should have done something to build a sense of purpose in their group (which would be their reason to oppose the villain). Instead we're left with "this guy has rancid vibes, kill him and do what he wanted us to anyway."
Second, the PCsâ decisions leading up to this point have annihilated any semblance of tragedy in the narrative. This isnât a tragedy because that genre rests on eliciting a feeling that the characters deserved better, but the audience nevertheless understands why it turned out this way. That can arise from paying attention to institutional injustices, the allure of cycles of violence, or the development of tragic flaws (strengths causing a downfall). That isn't C3; this is a bunch of trite flaws (selfishness, short-sightedness, pettiness, favoritism, etc.) turning out to be flaws. It would have been amazing if this had been an example of hubris like we saw in EXU Calamity, but each of those main characters were bursting with pride in themselves, their city, and mortality, and while that hubris brought the Lord of the Hells back, they managed to prevent the worst case scenario using the exact same skills and resources. None of that is present here. Bellâs Hells are constantly trying to shift the captainâs hat to someone else, and their ship has been heading straight for rocks for the past 60 episodes. There was no intention to sail into the rocks. It wasnât their strengths that led to Imogen accepting Predathos; it was the same indecisiveness that has plagued them the entire campaign. They had 118 episodes to build a proper tragedy, and instead we have a story that took hundreds of hours to say that unreliable people shouldnât be relied upon. The result has been numerous posts hoping for the Hells to suffer all sorts of consequences (TPK, specific player deaths, refusal of aid from the gods) for failing to commit to a course of action. Why? Because then at least there would be some type of cathartic satisfaction that Fucking Around means theyâre going to Find Out. It has nothing to do with imaginary people deserving a better ending and everything to do with feeling like this ending would have been more satisfying around episode 50.
These criticisms are not about facets within the story; it's not about whether X character was correct, whether Y fucked up, whether Z plan was the better choice. It's that sometimes people don't land their bit for improv shows, and that is disappointing after seeing skilled storytellers do so well with prior campaigns.
#critical role#c3e118#would i still enjoy the dnd combat and the possibility that ludinus will try to slurpee imogen? absolutely#and the worldbuilding of course#but all the edgy designs and magical items in the world wont make unmotivated characters interesting or enjoyable

ăăălando thinks he isn't the jealous type, but when it comes to his best friend, he might just be very wrong about that.
genres : best friends to lovers ... fluff ... lando x fem!reader.ăword count : 1.4k.ăwarnings : jealousy ... lando misreading and overthinking.ă note : i recycled this fic from my main (it used to be a kpop fic, but i edited it and rewrote some lines).ăăă( masterlist )ă( taglist )
Lando had always thought jealousy was a stupid thing. Easily jealous people were insecure and only caused headaches for themselves and others. He prided himself with how secure he was, not easily swayed by feelings of envy off the track. And, as such, Lando had never suspected to get jealous, much less over his best friend.Â
He didnât know how to combat the feelings he soon felt rising when he saw you across the room, at this stupid New Yearâs party his friend had hosted. You looked nothing short of stunning in your red satin dress, commanding the attention of the whole room it seemed. Lando simply couldnât look away from you. But while he was busy falling into the hypnosis that you cast on him, he was hyper aware of how close you were to George, how you kept laughing at whatever joke he was telling.Â
George Russell was loveable and fun to be around. Talented, smart, attractive; and a full head above Lando in height. Heâd only been your friend for a few months. Lando had known you for half of his life. Surely, he wasnât threatened by Georgeâs presence, was he?
Lando felt dumb thinking about it like that. George couldnât steal you from himâ you werenât even his to begin with. But he couldnât help but feel his chest burn seeing you make eye contact with the taller man, a pretty smile gracing your lips and your eyes scrunching to complete it. He wished he had the confidence to storm up to where you and George stood and make up some excuse to steal you away from him, if even for a few moments. But he was afraid of acknowledging the obvious jealousy he felt, finding it tarnished his ego.Â
Oscar, ever the observant man he was, found his friend sitting in the corner of the room, sipping on apple cider with a stare that could burn a hole through anyone. With a gaze so fixed on your figure, it was easy to connect the dots. He took a seat next to his friend, offering his mug of cider to toast.Â
âYou look like you want to banish George from the planet,â Oscar muttered with a smile. He was aware of Landoâs crush on you. It was hard to not see the way he looked at you. What Oscar could see that Lando didnât, however, was how mutual the feelings seemed to be. Every time you visited the paddock, you were near inseparable from him.Â
âI donât,â Lando lied. It was a pathetic attempt to hide his churning stomach and aching heart.Â
âY/n looks pretty tonight. I wonder who she dressed up for?â Oscar nudged Landoâs arm.
âIsnât it obvious? Theyâve been attached at the hip for the last 20 minutes,â Lando took another sip of cider, letting the warm spices and tartness burn down his throat. He tried to make his words seem unaffected by the fact he was pointing out, but, to Oscar, who already knew of his frankly crippling crush on you, it was obvious how bothered he was by the sight.Â
âSomeoneâs jealous.â
âIâm not jealous, mate. I donât get jealous.âÂ
As he uttered the defense, his eyes flitted towards your figure, once again caught breathless by how good you looked. There was an obvious absence of George by your side for the first time since Lando had sat down. He assumed he must have walked off. Your eyes were glancing around the room, and once they landed on Lando, they brightened. You started walking over to him, champagne in hand. Oscar patted his friend on the shoulder and stood up, leaving him alone to talk to you.  Â
âHey. So this is where youâve been hiding all night? I swear, I couldnât find you anywhere. I almost thought I dressed up for nothing.âÂ
You smiled, taking the seat Oscar had been sitting in. Lando felt the churning in his stomach come to a halt, replaced by shy butterflies.Â
âWanna trade? Iâve already had too much champagne for one night,â you asked, not giving Lando any time to answer before swapping your glasses, humming in content at the taste of the warm cider. Lando smiled, taking a sip of the half empty glass of champagne that had found its way into his hand.
âYou look nice tonight,â Lando said, giving you a glance, trying not to seem obvious. Your smile widened at his comment, and he couldnât help but feel immense satisfaction at scoring over George.Â
âReally? You donât look so bad yourself. You tried something different with your hair. It really works.âÂ
He nodded. Truthfully, he hadnât expected you to notice as nobody else had. After spending an extra twenty minutes scrutinizing it in the mirror along with his outfit before leaving for the party, he was glad the person he had put the effort in for had taken note. As conversation went on and you started talking, Lando soon found himself entirely lost in your presence and words. Eyes trained onto your face, smile following your sentences. You made everything feel so easy, vanishing all of his previous doubts and worries. All he could focus on was you, and you were back to being best friends; always getting along, always having more things to say to each other, always making the other laugh.Â
The conversation shifted eventually, and the topic of your previous conversation with George came up. Something about modelling, but Lando couldnât entirely focus on processing your words. His focus had shifted to how you seemed to talk about George, retelling the story with such enthusiasm and a sparkle in your eyes. Lando didnât know if you talked about him like that to your friends, but there was a part of his muddled brain that wished you would; wished you did.
When there was a pause in the conversation, Lando found the words falling past his lips before he even realized what he was saying.
âYou seem to like him a lot.â
Your eyebrows furrowed a bit at his observation. You glanced at Lando, but his face was unreadable.Â
âYou two look good together,â he continued, not even sure why he was bringing it up. The jealousy was glaringly obvious. He couldnât hide it, especially not from you. You could always read him so easily.Â
âWhat do you mean? You donât actually think Iâm interested in him, right?âÂ
Lando blinked, taken aback by your words. It had seemed so obvious thirty minutes ago that you were, but now he felt like he had misread you.
âI⊠I donât know. It looked likeââ
âLooked like what? Lando, please donât say you really misread it that badly,â you said seriously, placing a hand on his shoulder so he would meet your gaze. His eyes found yours and his mouth fell silent immediately, unsure of what to say to justify his thoughts.Â
He really was jealousy. God, he felt so stupid.
âI donât care about George. I care about you. Youâre the only one who I think of in that way.âÂ
Lando searched your eyes, tracing them for any hesitation or dishonesty. You were sincere. Smart and kind and so, so pretty. You were miles ahead of Lando, he was sure of it. He didnât know how he had managed to get you to stay his friend for this long, or how you even saw him in a romantic way at all. But he believed you when you said you thought of him, and God, he thought of you every day.Â
He had imagined this moment many times, picturing that he would get a surge of confidence and kiss you, or ask you on a date as soon as he was sure of your feelings. But, he didnât feel any of that. He was embarrassed instead, a flush taking over his cheeks and his eyes unable to move from the spot on the floor in between his feet. Â
You looked over at him, an amused smile on your face. Your best friend was an idiot at times, but you only found it endearing. You lifted his chin gently, turning his face back towards you. Planting a small kiss on his cheek, you smiled.
âI like you, Lan. Donât ever doubt it.âÂ

Some logical things about the void state, brainwaves, etc
This isn't going to be formatted as well. I'm just throwing out information I keep getting asked about.
First of all, the void state is not a deep meditative state. You can use meditation to enter the void but it's not a meditative state because you're not aware of the 3d at all.
The void created your reality whether you like it or not but everything that happens to YOU was created by the pure consciousness. The reason your life was horrible is because you didn't know you could control it.
When you manifest with the void or in general, you have a few options. You can manifest literally anything and everything in THIS REALITY THAT IS YOUR CURRENT ORIGINAL REALITY, or you can shift. You get everything you want in this reality if that's what you want. If you wanna shift, you shift. You can script that nobody finds you weird but be careful and make sure you don't run into any trouble (you could just erase it even if you do so don't worry). You don't have to go anywhere. Nothing is impossible. Kind of the whole point of the void.
Alpha state is a state where you are still conscious but relaxed and not stressed out (unlike the beta state where you are stressed). Your thoughts flow freely in the alpha state and there is no restrictions caused by stress. You should always begin your meditation by getting into alpha state first because it makes going deeper in your mind even easier. It's also when you are focused on something for an extended period of time.
Theta state is a level deeper and it consists of reduced consciousness, lucid dreaming, REM sleep, etc. This is when we are about to go to sleep or wake up in our minds during dreams (lucid dreaming).
Now DELTA state is what babies and infants stay in when they're in the womb. It's a state where you lose bodily awareness and have access to your conscious mind. This is why so many get into the void with delta waves.
Alpha: So to induce each of these states, you have to meditate. But the levels of meditation are different. For Alpha State, you can use the distraction technique by @luckykiwiii101, follow the Nordic Witch meditation on youtube, or do the Silva method.
The silva Method is basically lying down and taking 3 deep breaths. On the first deep breath, imagine the number 3 and say it in your mind three times. Do the same for 2 and 1, breathing deeply each time. Afterwards, you count from 100 to 0. If you're not used to meditation, 100 to 0 should do it. But if you meditate constantly, you might need to do 100 to 0, then 50 to 0, then 25 to 0 to reach deeper levels of consciousness.
Theta: Theta waves is fairly easy. You need to stay still and allow your body to fall asleep. Take deep breaths and visualize a candle or an object in your mind (anything works great). Keep your focus on either your breathing or the object.
Delta: Delta waves can be induced by yoga nidra or transcendental meditation
Transcendental Meditation:Â Transcendental meditation is a type of meditation that involves repeating a mantra. This type of meditation is effective in reducing stress and anxiety levels.
Does that sound familiar? Yep, SATS requires a mantra or a looped visualization as well. Yoga Nidra also gets you into delta state. That's why it works. You visualize and hold this visualization as the last thing in your mind before you lose consciousness (waking consciousness that is).
So the point of all of this is that if you have not been able to induce pure consciousness despite trying the methods, it means your mind is overactive. I don't care if you fell asleep during a method. That just means your mind went from active (beta) or overactive (gamma) to Delta directly (because delta is induced when you sleep naturally).
Let's come back to the void. Like we discussed earlier, the void is not a meditative state. So why do meditative states lead you to the void? It's because meditation allows you to disconnect from your physical body and go deeper within your mind. The void is the purest state of consciousness. Each brainwave is a state of consciousness.
So the way to actually induce the void (a foolproof technique) is to not expect when you're doing the methods. Let me explain:
When you do any method, during it and after you're done and if you have not fallen asleep, you look for symptoms or signs. This brings your mind back to beta because you're questioning, searching etc.
When you stop expecting, you're letting your ego be put to rest. So the next time you do a method, if you feel that you're not stressed, move forward with any method and don't look for symptoms. But if you've been stressing out all day, do an alpha meditation first and then do anything else. The distraction technique is still technically SATS. You use the alpha state meditation to relax and then you visualize which puts you into theta, and eventually delta, then finally pure consciousness.
That's all I have right now.

You, Again: Part 1/2
Roman x black!oc
Warnings: fluff, angst, short mention of abortion, emotional/verbal abuse
Word Count: 3k
a/n: thanks for your patience, it really means a lot đ„č I hope this isn't a disappointment. still working on part five of nights like this, most likely won't be posted till monday. click here if you would like to be tagged in part two.
Sky spent hours in her room crying into her pillow. She was sick and tired of this constant fucked up routine.
Her motherâs disdain for her progressively grew worse day by day. For as long as she could remember, that woman did everything in her power to make sure she understood that her biggest mistake in life, would always be the day she chose not to abort her.
It was starting to become a nightly occurrence of her drunkenly barging into her room just to belittle and scream at her.Â
Her motherâs hatred for her grew immensely as the years went on, to the point where she would find absolutely any reason to take her frustrations out on her.
This included breaking any and everything she could get ahold of in Skyâs room.
Sky knew any attempt to defend herself would only make the situation ten times worse, so she just stayed quiet and accepted it.
Sky could tell she wanted a reaction out of her, which is exactly why she refused to give it.
Maybe life would have been a tad bit easier, if her sister wouldâve had her back during these repetitive toxic situations she was forced into.Â
But no, her one and only sibling turned out to be an even more evil and vindictive bitch.Â
Eva was four years older than her, and it was absolutely no secret that her older sister despised her.
Sky spent many years hoping she would eventually be able to build a relationship with her big sister.Â
Unfortunately, she couldnât have been more wrong.Â
Sky remembers that night like it was yesterday. The night where Eva went to the bathroom and her creepy boyfriend tried to make multiple passes at her.
The fact that he knew she was underaged and still chose to hit on her, disgusted Sky to another level. She quickly rejected his creepy insinuations, trying her best to ignore him.Â
As soon as Eva stepped out of the bathroom, Sky wasted no time in telling her exactly what happened, not giving two fucks about the fact he was still standing there.
Her boyfriend immediately interjected, saying that Sky was the one who was hitting on him, he painted a story about how sheâd been making him uncomfortable for the longest of time whenever Eva wasnât around.
She remembered the exact lies he spewed, âBaby you know how jealous sheâs always been of you, donât tell me you believe this crazy bitch! Why would I ever do that to you? Let alone in your own house!â
To her surprise Eva looked at Sky like she was fucking insane, Sky could see her sisters anger rising.
âEva, please donât tell me you believe him over meâŠâ Skyâs voice cracked as tears started to form in her eyes.
Eva pushed Sky against the wall with all the force she had, causing the back of Skyâs head to slightly start bleeding.Â
âIf you ever even think to go near him again, Iâll fucking kill you,â Eva sneered.
In that exact moment Sky whole heartedly accepted the fact that she was truly alone, with absolutely no one by her side.Â
And just when she had fully given up hope on continuing to live this shitty life, with her even shittier family, she met Joe.Â
Joe was a boy who made her whole entire world shift.Â
He was her new neighbor, who in a short time of getting to know, became her favorite person.Â
As years passed they grew even closer, she was his best friend, and he was hers.Â
He was truly a light in her dark world, and there wasnât a damn thing sheâd do to change that.
âŠâŠâŠ.
After another night of the same bullshit fight caused by her drunken mom, Sky carefully stumbled out of her bedroom window making her way across the wet grass that was now starting to soak her fuzzy slippers. Her phone was dead, so she had no choice but to rely on the natural moonlight to illuminate the short path leading her next door.
She lightly tapped on Joeâs window, hoping not to startle him.
Shortly after, he carefully slid his window open. His eyes were low and sunken, a sleepy smile formed on his face.
âCome in.â Joe helped Sky climb in, which basically consisted of him doing all the work in picking her up.
âShit, sorry for waking you up Joe,â she whispered.
âSky, how many times have I told you? Never apologize for that shit,â his voice was low.
Joe knew that she had issues with her family, but Sky made sure to never tell him how bad it really was. She knew him well, his hot headed ass would confront them with no hesitation, but that would only end up making things worse for her.Â
If Skyâs mom found out about him, sheâd forbid her from ever seeing him again.
And thatâs something that Sky simply would not allow, so choosing to keep him in the dark, in her eyes was the right choice.
Joe pulled his covers back leaving Skyâs preferred side easier for her to get in.
His bedroom became a safe space for her, it was starting to become a habit for Sky to spend her nights sleeping there. For some odd reason the smell of his sheets gave her a sense of comfort, his cologne scent became soothing to her.
They both laid down on their backs, with their gazes focused on the ceiling.Â
Joe was always respectful, making sure he left a small space in between them.
âYou wanna talk about it?â He whispered.
âThanks, but not really,â she sighed.
Joe could hear the sadness in her tone, he knew she was holding something in, but he didnât want to push her. He believed sheâd open up when she felt comfortable enough, so he respected that.
âThatâs okayâŠ.but know you can tell me anything, Sky.â
She turned her body to face him, âIâm going to tell you something, but promise me you wonât get upset,â she muttered.
Just as Joe was deep in his thoughts admiring Skyâs beauty, beauty in which he was convinced everyone saw except her, her light angelic voice instantly snapped him out of it. âTalk to me, weâll go from there.â
âThis is going to be my last night sleeping hereâŠâ
Joe quickly sat up on the bed, with his eyebrows furrowed. Sky could feel his gaze locked in on her. âWhy?â
âJoe I know weâre just friends and that weâve always had boundaries, but you have a girlfriend. ItâŠit just seems disrespectful to keep sleeping here knowing that,â she muttered.
Joe paused in silence for what felt like forever. Sky was starting to get anxious, because the last thing she needed was to cause problems or a rift between them. As regret started to seep in, she decided to try and smooth the situation over.
âItâs justââ
âWeâre not together anymore,â his voice was low.
Confusion, thatâs exactly what Sky was feeling. This was the last thing she was expecting him to say.
âWâWhy didnât you say anything? What happened?â
âShe didnât like me being friends with you, so she gave me an ultimatum⊠to choose between you or her.âÂ
At that Sky stood up, her anxiety causing her to pace the room while so much guilt began to weigh her mind. She felt so fucking bad, knowing that her friendship ended his relationship which was the exact thing she was trying to avoid.Â
She swallowed down her emotions as best as she could, which worked to no prevail because she instantly felt warm tears begin to slide down her face. âJoe I-Iâm so sorry. You shouldnâtâŠ.you shouldnât have chosen me.â
Joe instinctively walked towards her now seeing that she was crying, he gently grabbed her chin forcing her gaze on his.Â
âSky, thereâs no reason to be sorry. It was the easiest choice Iâve ever fucking made.ââ
âIâItâs my fault JoeâŠ. I shouldnât have put you in this situation,â she sniffled.Â
âLook at me,â his voice was assertive but still gentle, Skyâs glossy eyes met his.
âThe ultimatum wasnât the only reason I ended things with her, Sky.âÂ
âJoe, wâwhat do you mean? Iâm confusedâŠ..â
He moved some of her hair behind her ears, the way his eyes were glued to her lips gave her butterflies. âIâŠ.donât want to just be friends anymore.â
Sky could feel her heart beating out of her fucking chest. Sure she believed they were close, but in no world did she ever think he thought of her that way. Joe carefully studied her facial expressions, trying to figure out what she was thinking.
âIââ
Before she could speak Joe interrupted. âIâve always liked you Sky, youâre the most beautiful girl Iâve ever seen, inside and out. I enjoy every moment I spend with you. With that being said⊠I understand if you donât feel the same way, my intention isnât to make you uncomfortable. But, I just needed you toâ
âKiss me.â
âWhat?â
âI want you to kiss me, Joe.âÂ
Just as he was beginning to lean in, she slightly hesitated while slowly pulling back.
âIâve.. Iâve neverâŠâ Sky was too embarrassed to finish her sentence.
âYouâve never kissed anyone before?â
She shook her head no, her gaze now shifted to the floor.Â
Joe lightly brushed his thumb across her bottom lip. âSky, itâs just me. I got you, I promise.â
Once she silently gave him the approval, Joe gently pressed his lips against hers, starting off slow letting her get used to the feeling. Her lips were so fucking full and soft, it was going to be a challenge for him to contain himself.
Once Joe could feel her growing comfortable, he began to deepen their kiss. Sky could feel her arousal intensify as the kiss went from soft and slow to something more needy and sensual. Â
Without a second thought, he picked her up by her ass, hoisting her on his hips.Â
Sky wrapped her legs around him, while doing the same with her arms around his neck. Joe carried her back towards his bed, laying her down gently, while pulling her closer towards him.
To his surprise Sky climbed on top, straddling and kissing him. Joe sat up with his back resting on the headboard, a light moan escaped him when she slid her fingers behind his head, lightly scratching at his scalp.
He slightly pulled away, biting down on his bottom lip, his eyes entranced by that beautiful face of hers. âYou have no fucking idea how long Iâve wanted to kiss you.â
âMe too,â she grinned.
Time passed, and Joe had no idea how long they spent kissing. Itâs almost as if time didnât exist when she was around him.
They eventually had to stop, Joe refused to get ahead of himself, making sure to prioritize taking things slow with her.
Just as they were about to sleep, Joe got up and walked to his drawer pulling out something plastic, it was too dark for her to tell.
âShit, I almost forgot.âÂ
âWhat is it?â
Joe handed her the light plastic item. âI know you forget to bring it sometimes, so I bought you one to leave here.â
Once Sky shined her phone light on it, a smile formed on her face.
A bonnet.Â
Joe went out of his way to buy her a bonnet.
Something so simple, yet so fucking thoughtful made her eyes water âThank you Joe.âÂ
She immediately pulled it out the package, wasting no time in putting it on.
Sky kissed his cheek and laid down, Joe pulled her by her waist with his big arms wrapped around her, there was no longer a gap in between. The warmth of his chest on her back was the most comforting thing sheâd ever experienced, resulting in her instantly falling asleep.
Since the day he met her, sheâd been the only person he thought about. Having her this close to him, internally evoked new emotions for him.
Watching her sleep so peacefully while being wrapped in his arms, brought a smile to his face. In that very moment he made a vow to himself, to always put her happiness first.
No matter what.
âŠâŠâŠâŠâŠ.
Present
The New York city lights illuminated the busy streets. Sky wasnât used to being in such a live and ambient city.Â
After a shit ton of convincing from her best friend Lori, Sky forced herself to step out of her comfort zone and pursue a new potential career opportunity. Itâs something that she had been wanting to do for the longest time, but unfortunately her deep rooted insecurities had her convinced she wasnât good enough.
She was scared to waste so much time and effort, just to end up receiving rejection.Â
Except she was wrong, very wrong. Because after an exhausting few months of traveling around the world and going to so many different try outs, life finally threw her a bone.
Sky had received a message from her agent, informing her that a well known modeling agency based in New York, was interested in flying her in for a week to attend their casting call.
This was an opportunity she was glad she didnât miss. Lori, being the amazing friend that she is, decided to join Sky to offer her unwavering support.
After being in this colorful, fast paced city for a few days, Sky went in for one last meeting with the agency where they informed her she would officially be signed.
Sky still had the weekend left in this enormous city, so she figured sheâd make the most of it. Lori, suggested they try out this new fancy bar to celebrate Skyâs new job.
As they walked in the atmosphere was relaxing, the room was filled with dim lighting and the low sounds of jazz music. Sky noticed diverse groups of people scattered across the room, the air was filled with chatter and laughter, which brought a small smile to her face.
They decided to sit at the stools of the bar, they figured the closer they were, the faster theyâd receive their drinks.
To say they were having a good time would be an understatement, Sky was starting to truly enjoy the feeling of being immersed in this vibrant city.
While Lori went to the bathroom, Sky decided to order their third drinks, and as she was waiting she ended up getting distracted with a dumbass reality show, that for some reason was starting to pique her interest.
Just as the boring commercials started to play, she was starting to zone out when out of the corner of her eye she saw a WWE ad.
Sky could instantly feel her breath hitch in her throat. Itâs not the first time sheâs seen him randomly displayed on tv.Â
Thatâs not the exact reason her heart was racing, while her body felt frozen in place. Itâs the fact that the advertisement said he was in this exact area for a press event he had during the weekend.Â
Every piece of joy she was feeling prior to this revelation was stripped away.
Lori came back, and with one glance at Sky, she immediately knew something was wrong, âSky, are you okay?â
Sky cleared her throat, trying her absolute best to play it off. âIâm fine, I promise. I think these drinks are hitting me all at once,â she nervously chuckled.
Lori stared at Sky, seeming completely unconvinced, but she ultimately decided to let it go.
âIâll drop it for now, only because itâs a big day for you.â
âThank you,â Sky mouthed.
Sky waited twenty minutes for Lori to finish her drink, her anxiety made it feel like she was waiting a lifetime. Once Lori finished up, Sky asked to leave, using the excuse that she was exhausted.Â
Lori paid their tab after refusing to let Sky pay a dime. They started to make their way out of the packed bar, trying their best to maneuver away from large crowds.Â
Just as they were close to the entrance door, Lori had to turn around when she noticed she left her sunglasses. Sky was looking back to see if her friend had located them, while still walking forward.Â
She decided it would be best to wait outside since the bar was starting to get congested. When she reached to open the door, her gaze was glued to her purse while she dug for her cellphone.
Before she knew it, she accidentally bumped into someone, causing her to stumble back.
She stood up, immediately apologizing, moving to the side as more people walked in. âShit. Iâm so sorry!âÂ
âSky?â His voice was low and hesitant.Â
In hearing that voice, his voice⊠she looked up, suddenly feeling the air grow thick. The bar started to feel small, as if it was enclosing around her.
She felt her body go cold, her legs started to feel weak and numb. No words escaped her mouth, she was rendered speechless.
He studied her, noticing she was just as fucking stunning as he remembered. After all these years, the feeling he got when she looked up at him, never changed.
âSkyâŠâÂ
âStay the fuck away from me, Roman,â her voice cracked, while tears began to pool in her eyes. She pushed past him, while quickly walking away.
He knew he deserved it, but hearing her call him by that name fucking stung.
He stopped her by gently grabbing her arm.
âSky, if you never want to see me again after this, IâllâŠIâll let you be. But please just let me explain,â he pleaded.
âI think itâs a little too fucking late for that,â she scoffed.Â
Sky walked out the bar without looking back, quickly texting Lori saying sheâd be at a cafĂ© a few blocks over. Right now all she wanted was to create as much distance as possible, from the man who broke her heart.

im desi and i love ur fics sm.... lando watching a bollywood movie with reader and then getting addicted to it. and keeps singing it during race week or his streams? it becomes a whole thing.... please.
thursday nights âËÊ áąâË⧠ïŸ.
Śâ°â†ln x desi!reader ËÊâĄÉË
Śâ°â†fluff + humour ËÊâĄÉË
masterlist âŸâŒ
movie nights were a steady part of your relationship. every thursday night, lando and you would pick a movie and watch through those netflix chrome extension thingies. lando insisted on doing it on thursdays, because media day was always way more exhausting for him than the actual races. the two of you took turns every week on choosing the movie. you, being desi, would usually something indian, opting for comedy films to ease lando's mind.
since it was the off season, you and lando were cuddled up on the couch, with your dinner plates balanced on your laps. this thursday, it was your turn, and you had the perfect movie in mind: chennai express. as the title card flashed on the screen, lando glanced at you, intrigued.
"what's this one about?" he asked, pulling his blanket tighter around him.
"okay, so imagine a guy trying to scatter his grandfather's ashes in south india," you began, "and then getting dragged into this wild adventure with a runaway bride. it's hilarious, it's chaotic, and the best part, it has shah rukh khan."
lando raised an eyebrow. "shah rukh khan? isn't he the guy that you had a crush on when you were younger?"
"yes, but also that i would drop you in a second for him," you said, laughing. "he's also the king of bollywood. trust me, you're going to love this."
"not sure how much i'm gonna love a movie with an actor that my girlfriend would drop me in a second for, but okay," he said dryly.
you laughed.
as the film progressed, lando became hooked. the over-the-top action sequences had him in stitches, and he couldn't stop laughing at rahul's antics, especially his attempts to speak tamil. by the time the musical number, "one, two, three, four, get on the dance floor" came on, lando was bobbing his head to the beat. and when he finally heard "lungi dance", the man was dancing in his seat with you, as you laughed.
"these songs are a vibe!" he declared, grinning at you. "why didn't you tell me bollywood music was this catchy?"
"because you wouldn't have believed me until now," you joked.
by the end of the night, lando was humming "lungi dance" nonstop. you had fallen asleep to him humming the song in your ear, but it put a smile on your face regardless.
of course, by the time, the season began again, you had shown lando many bollywood movies. it got a point, where the man had a bollywood songs playlist of his own which he listened to more than he listened to other playlists.
he didn't know all the words, but the few words he could understand, he was always singing them.
when the season began, you accompanied him to the paddock. as you spoke to one of the hospitality team members, you heard him whistling lungi dance quietly under his breath as he waited for his engineer to turn up. it wasn't long before his colleagues took notice.
"lando, what is that?" oscar asked with amusement and confusion.
"oh, it's from this bollywood movie i watched during the break," lando responded nonchalantly, as if that was no big deal. "you gotta see it. it's called chennai express. absolute masterpiece. i'll send you the movie playlist too, but you'll listen to it enough through the wall,"
days later, lando's obsession with bollywood music was a constant joke among the team. fans picked on it in a live stream when lando, trying to be attentive while playing, began belting out the lyrics of tan tana tan tan aloud.
"wait, what are you singing?" max fewtrell joked.
"it's from a bollywood movie. judwaa," lando said, with perfect pronunciation as he was trained by you, grinning sheepishly. "blame my girlfriend. she's got me hooked, mate,"
"is this already in your playlist?" max asked.
"yeah, yeah. you'd know if you listened to it," lando grumbled.
"mate, it's hard for me to listen to music i don't understand the meaning of!"
"excuses, excuses, max. y/n is gonna be sad,"
max groaned, while lando laughed.
the fandom went wild with it. edits of lando grooving to bollywood beats flooded social media and "lungi dance" became the unofficial anthem for his streams. mclaren played along and sent a clip of lando teaching oscar the steps of gallan goodiyan in the paddock which left everyone guffawing.
it also led to millions of desi fans sending their song and movie recommendations to lando. they began to send him challenges for different dance numbers, questioned him about his bollywood playlist, begged him to sing a particular song during the race.
lando had taken to singing some of the songs while he was driving. he'd randomly switch on the radio, and will and andrea would be ready to listen to whatever feedback lando had to offer, and all that lando would do was sing, "one, two, three, four, get on the dance floor, booty shake, booty shake, na na, hard core,"
it made everyone at the mclaren garage and wall burst out laughing.
the interviewers would ask him about it too, and lando would laugh, and offer to watch the movie with them and explain everything the way you had explained to him.
"you've created a monster," lando said to you one day as he settled into bed beside you, where you were watching edits of him singing different bollywood songs.
"you say it as if you don't love it," you replied, putting your phone down and smiling at your boyfriend.
he leaned over and pressed a soft kiss to your lips, "i do love it,"
you smiled brightly, pulling at his neck to kiss him once more.
"so, what are we watching tomorrow?" he asked, as he pulled away.
"i was thinking something with more action. singham. we could do a movie marathon if we start early, and watch all the movies in that universe,"
"oh fuck yeah," lando said softly, his body buzzing with excitement, even though his eyes were closing.
"i love you," he said in a sleepy haze.
you pecked his lips once, before repeating the words and watching the way lando's lips curled into a smile.
thursday nights had officially become the highlight of his week.

if we get too closĐ”, would it be okay?
hyun-ju x gn!reader - highschool au
summery: hyun-ju came out to her- now ex- girlfriend who spread the rumor around the whole school.
tags: trans/homophobia (the word tr**ny is used one (1) time), bullying, hurt/comfort, lots of fluff i promise, let me know if i missed anything!
a/n: i am obsessed it's not fair. this is pre-t but i'm still going to use she/her pronouns for hyun-ju <3 also english is not my first language and this isn't proof read, so i apologize for any mistake. @exactlyinfp
hyun-ju didn't want to go to school that day. her girlfriend, ex girlfriend now, broke up with her just because she trusted her, because she didn't want to hide anymore and she believed that her girlfriend of almost two years would understand. but she didn't. she called her all kind of names and blocked her everywhere.
she hoped this was where it ended. that they could just ignore each other and keep living life as it is. it would have been so much easier that way. but the moment she entered the school hallway she knew something happened. the looks she was getting were strange, full of hate. definitely not the looks you receive when you just broke up. she tried to ignore it and walked to her class with her head down.
it was early. a lot of time passed before some of her classmates entered the room. maybe it was better if they stayed outside. their chatter died down as soon as they saw her. one of them, who was seated next to her, took his desk and dragged it as far away from her as possible. âyou're sickâ, he said under his breath. âstay away from me.â
she stayed silent as the realization hit her. if he knew, everyone else did too. fighting tears, she forced herself to keep cool.
slowly people filled the room. everyone ignored her, even her so called friends looked at her with disgust. only y/n seemed to be acting as if nothing happened. maybe they didn't know about it yet. theyâll turn their back to you like everyone else, she thought.
âoh hyun-ju, how are you?â
y/n waited for an answer that never arrived. so, with a sad smile, they spoke again. âit's fine. you don't have to talk with me. you have my number in case you change your mind.â
âââ
for the rest of the week she ignored everyone. she was barely alive.
every morning she entered school feeling like a criminal. her locker in the changing rooms was filled with insults. some guys even tried to push her on the ground. that was the only moment she reacted. she could ignore words, but physical aggression was were she drew the line.
every night she cried herself to sleep, wishing she had someone on her side, someone to talk to. her family didn't know about what was happening in school and she hoped for it to stay that way or she wouldn't even have a home anymore.
it was on saturday afternoon that she lost it. she was out, getting some groceries for her mother at the local market, and she saw her ex with her friends. she tried to hide before they could notice her, but she wasn't fast enough.
"oh god, isn't that that tranny you used to date?", one said pointing at her.
"don't say that out loud, please. what will people think of me?"
hyun-ju ran away without even taking food from the market stall. she kept running until their voice became indistinguishable echoes.
she sat on the side walk and took out her phone, looking for y/n contact. she started crying, the tears blurring her vision.
their words came back to her. you have my number in case you change your mind. were they serious? she hesitantly called them, hoping for the best.
y/n didn't take long to answer and for that she was grateful.
"hey, you called!"
"i- yes... listen can you, can you come here?"
"oh hyun-ju, you're crying? is everything okay?"
"i don't even know anymore. please, just come here." and with that she hung up the phone, quickly shared the position with them.
she hugged her knees as she waited.
âââ
y/n was happy that hyun-ju called, even if the situation wasn't ideal. even though they weren't intimate, they cared about her and it made them sad to see her suffer. especially if she was being ridiculed for something beyond her control.
y/n tried to get to her as fast as possible. they went out in their sweats without bothering to put on something nicer. they didn't like the idea of hyun-ju seeing them in that state, but they also realized that they had to put vanity aside at the moment.
as soon as she saw y/n she got up and hugged. they remained in that position for a while. hyun-ju cried and cried while y/n rubbed her back, doing what they could to comfort her.
"sorry... i don't know why i did that", she said as she let go of them.
"you don't have to apologize. do you feel better now?"
"i do, thanks."
an awkward silence fell until y/n suggested they start walking with a wave of their hand, "do you wanna talk about what's happening?"
"i just want to forget about it. can we talk about something else?"
"oh sure", y/n looked at her and smiled. "do you wanna hear about this manga i'm reading?"
a/n: i realize that for an xreader the reader is barely there đŹ sorry. let me now if you liked it!!

It's all about control, and about making people dependent on their religious leaders for guidance and salvation. The more you can make people think that they're Bad for their natural thoughts and urges, the more desperate they become for reassurance and forgiveness - and the more likely they are to start dropping a bit more in the collection plate.
There is value in teaching a reasonable amount of temperance, like 'don't do this pleasurable thing so much that it interferes with your life - and if you can't stop yourself, then it'd be good to take a look at why that is and try to address it.'
But that kind of temperance isn't sensational enough. Organized religion loves their extremes. If people are simply content, they're less likely to throw their whole body and soul into their religion. Make them desperate from self-denial, get them frenzied with a sensational performance, convince them that they've been helped by the Lord in some way, and now you have a faithful follower who will give you their last breath.
Sometimes I think about how in the times of knights and crusades, it was considered your duty to your God to go off to battle for your King. If you're a peasant who genuinely believes that your King is on the throne because of a divine mandate, then what choice do you really have when you're recruited and told to march off to battle? You don't want to defy the will of God, do you?
Again, it comes back to control. We even see the 'King' effect today, in the USA, as people practically worship Trump to the point of thinking he's the second coming of Jesus. And nobody even had to threaten them at swordpoint to make them believe it. That's the scariest part, I think, is that many people seem to want to be religiously controlled. Probably because they believe that's the easiest way to ensure that they'll be saved.
You see it all the time with Prosperity Gospel preachers. People are willing to give up their entire life savings because they think some guy is capable of giving spring water (which is probably just tap water anyway) miraculous properties.
I consider myself a spiritual person, but I avoid organized religion like the plague. Prosperity Gospel makes me sick, as does the overly performative religious proselytizing that we're starting to see on TikTok and similar. If that shit isn't taking the Lord's name in vain, I don't know what is. And it's all in the name of control - gaining adoration, gaining money, gaining influence.
Spirituality is supposed to set you free, not put you in shackles. Especially not when the key is held by some mortal who isn't any better than you are. Spirituality should be for the individual's personal growth - not as a weapon to harm and exploit others with.
The most insidious part is that it's not even a weapon you have to wield for very long. When you can make a person feel shame just for being alive, all you have to do is give them the sword and convince them to fall on it. And most people have a very hard time getting back up. Many of them never do.
not to be anti-religious but i do wonder if teaching children that they are innately flawed and sinful is, perhaps, not a healthy worldvi

thinking about Lucanis again (always). and how so much of his narrative boils down to the theme of "control". and of course also about how this applies to the Rook x Lucanis relationship.
like the first scenes with him in the game are, in theory, about freeing him from the Ossuary (although he seems to have an escape attempt already in progress at the time, they certainly weren't just letting him keep those knives on him for enrichment purposes, Rook just provided an opening/distraction he could take advantage of and crucially Rook has A Way Out of the whole place not just a cell). but ACTUALLY the purpose it to put him right into a new contract for Us, one set up by his own grandmother and first talon no less, and the person he has the MOST trouble saying no to. He's escaped torture and the Venatori for sure but he still isn't free, which I think is part of what leads to Spite's confusion/the Inner Demons plotline. He agrees to the contract but you can tell it's in many parts out of a sense of duty/mourning vs something he actively wants to do for himself. And then the FIRST real heartfelt conversation you have with him, where he tells you "even before I was captured, my life was not really my own. So much had been determined for me." But he's chaffaing at that! He thinks "to live truly is to live fully" and so directly tells you he doesn't think he's lived a life true to himself. He's been constantly smothered by the weight of expectations around him, even though he longs for more.
And then once you get him to the Lighthouse you see how this Big lack of control in his life comes out as all these smaller frustrations. He's terrified of sleeping and downing 11 cups of coffee per hour because sleeping means he will lose control to Spite, even though Spite is shown to flee rather than fight when he feels threatened, and once calmed down, is more drawn to just benign curiosity/mischief than anything actively malicious. Like if Lucanis loses control and sleeps for a few hours he is not going to wake up surrounded by bloodshed, he's going to wake up to a belly full of candle wax because he wouldn't like Spite taste one while they were awake. Which is the other half of this--he constantly denying Spite's impulses for reasons that in some ways make sense (HE doesn't want to eat candles), but not in a way that's actually satisfying to either of them (why not just take a bite, chew for a bit, and spit it out so Spite knows they kind of suck actually?). But he CAN say no to Spite and so he does. Over and over. Spite's one of the few people he can deny things without feeling bad about it, because it's HIS body he doesn't like that has to share now (<- this is what he thinks about it at first anyway, but he's wrong, it's both of theirs and it's useless to try to hold those kind of boundaries forever. but the "no its mine" spiteful instinct is very beautifully ironic and reflective of them both and their early relationship).
And personally I think this is where his fear of his own desires and intimacy is coming from, at the root. I don't think he's afraid of the concept of being in a romance or having feelings (even if they're unusual and rare for him, this is by no means incompatible with him being demi) but I DO think he is afraid of the kind of power it gives people over you. Getting something you want means there's something else that can be taken away. Admitting your desire means the other person has the opportunity to deny that. The more you have, the more you have to lose, and he has lost again and again and again in his life--his parents, his childhood to the crows, his independence, even his future--he doesn't aspire to be first Talon but he knows the rumors. He knows his grandmother wanted it for him, not Illario. His life path has been laid out for him by others and up to this point he has simply been going along with it anyway, even though it bothers him. He COULD argue and fight Caterina and push for Illario who actually wants the job to be First Talon instead, but from The Wigmaker Job we know he doesn't. He just ignores it and pretends maybe it won't happen, without him having to do any of the work. Which is why in the end Illario is the one who has to make a move about it (and even warns Lucanis of this!!!!). Lucanis KNOWS all this makes him a target but is neither taking charge or getting off of the train tracks, just closes his eyes.
And I think THIS context is what makes the almost kiss scene in the pantry make more sense to me. Rather than being afraid of having feelings (and then NEVER addressing this in game with a Rook who pursues him anyway) or not knowing how to finish what he's started via crow seduction training, it's more like this is a pivotal moment where he can actively choose to step off the planned path of be given a job -> kill the gods -> enact revenge -> go home. even if he doesn't at that point realize that a relationship with Rook could be something that lasts long-term, the very act of doing something just for himself is what's foreign and scary and hard. It's that first step off the tracks, and even if he were to keep walking in the same direction, it means he's making a choice about it. he's accepting that one way or another it IS in his power to go along with everyone else's plans or not. Hence the hesitation, and drawing back, and needing to clear his head.
And then the rest of Rook's role in his narrative IS about giving him more and more control for himself. Inner Demons, dealing with Illario, his questlines move less towards revenge and more towards just... not being locked into one fate. Which of course Caterina comes back and immediately tries to overturn by declaring him First Talon after all, even though she and him and everyone else knows she's not ACTUALLY ready to give up her rule/decision making power yet. Which in a way is maddening because cmon I did all this work here so this sad man could have some agency in his own life just to watch him get sucked right back in (which, at least we get many directions to headcanon from here), but there's no denying that THIS version of Lucanis at least is actually going in with his eyes open now. THIS Lucanis has had a taste of life outside the Crows, and seen the politics and power dynamics in other places/organizations, and finally has emotional ties to the big picture state of the world now, both in relationship and friendship paths with Rook. He's not just hyper focused on each contract as it's given to him now, he's looking at the whole thing.
Anyway of course the beautiful culmination of all this within the romance is the lighthouse scene with Rook, where he finally is willing to let himself be vulnerable (emotionally and physically), and fall asleep without fear of what Spite's going to do in the meanwhile. He also (depending on dialogue choice) finally talks about his feelings directly with you for the first time instead of in roundabout ways (the dessert being "not enough" is it really the dessert you mean, Lucanis. is it.). Even though he is STILL reluctant to verbally admit his feelings or let Rook share their own at this point, I think that's more a narrative choice about saving those last emotional dialogue options for the big final battle. but it is another point where he does have to stop just following along and ACTIVELY choose that yes, yes sometimes loving is worth the risk of losing it. Even if someone takes it away from you later, even if you don't survive it, sometimes the love alone makes it worth it.
I have like another 5000 words I could add into about how Spite ties into all this, about how having the demon in him is something he both fears AND how it forces him to acknowledge that actually yes he DOES share the same base feelings/instincts Spite does in terms of not wanting to be told what to do. And how this in a way is part of what gives him permission to act on it since he can no longer just shove it down out of sight. but this post is long enough already so i'm just going to take the rest of this and gnaw on it all day like a chew toy I guess.
anyway. AHG. it is kind of frustrating that the culmination of his arc seems to be "and then he got the job he never wanted anyway" but I do think at least all this prepares him for it in a way Caterina actively failed to actually do on her own. We're all going feral over the whole "Mercy? Mercy?" which is so valid of us, but the way mercy comes back as a theme in this final saga is really interesting to me, because before this, Odysseus is asked for mercy, for forgiveness:
"Old king, our leader is dead
You've destroyed the serpent's head
Now the rest of us are no longer a threat
Old king, forgive us instead
So that no more blood is shed
Let's have open arms instead"
"No"
He has become Poseidon, the one that first forced him into believing that mercy isn't something he can afford ("Look what you turned me into"), which is made doubly poignant with Eurymachus echoing the open arms of Polites ("Greet the world with open arms"). Now I'm not saying he should have forgiven the suitors for what they were planning on doing, however, this interaction directly informs this one later:
"Throw down those weapons
And I ensure you'll be spared"
"After seeing what the king will do to us
We wouldn't dare"
Because Odysseus doesn't show mercy to Eurymachus, Melanthius doesn't want to take the risk when Telemachus extends mercy to them, which then leads to the starting interaction.
When extending mercy and creating a kinder world is discussed again, it's by Athena. She is the original god, who pushed him towards a lack of mercy, who found that a warrior of the mind is one that showed not mercy and Odysseus believed her during the war, even threw a baby of a roof about it, and it wasn't until after that he rebelled her teachings only to be forced into it by other gods (Poseidon and Zeus most specifically). To which this is said:
"If that world exists, it's far away from here
It's one I'll have to miss, for it's far beyond my years
You might live forever, so you can make it be
But I've got one endeavor, there's a girl I have to see"
"Very well"
"Father, she's waiting for you"
I especially want to highlight that Odysseus says it is beyond his years. He has become that monster and he can't undo that in the years he still has. If this is to happen, then it must be the future generations that Athena has to influence to make that world. Having her reply to that getting interrupted by Telemachus is very purposeful to me. Because he does still extend mercy, he is the new warrior she trained and she trained him differently because her belief changed.
But I also think having her show Odysseus her face with the lightning scar as she agrees is very telling. When she pushed Odysseus to be ruthless she had not been on the other end of no mercy, which is what makes Odysseus turn against her ("UnlikĐ” you, every time someone dies I'm left to deal with the strain"). She now has been on the other side of it by the hands of someone Odysseus also faced and they were both shown the same lack of mercy. For Odysseus that was his final turning point where he chose no mercy, while Athena did chose mercy.
And in the end, she did get some mercy from Zeus in response from it. Zeus also learned from her, from the lesson Odysseus taught her, which was taught to him by Polites. And that mercy gets paid forward allowing Odysseus to get home (yes, I'm emotional about Polites helping Odysseus get home in the end). Almost every time mercy is shown, his journey progresses (Lotus eaters, Aeolous, Circe, Zeus).
Athena has been through not receiving mercy, but she still believes, is still working towards that future. And while she accepts Odysseus words about him being beyond such a world, she doesn't agree with him. Her reply feels more like accepting a dismissal rather than an agreement. And Telemachus shows up as a reminder that she is more correct than Odysseus in this, and he leads them into Penelope.
God, I love Penelope. With her, Odysseus tells someone yet again that he has changed ("I am not your kind and gentle husband") and that he would understand if she did not love him anymore. And then we get this banger:
"Only my husband knew that
So I guess that makes him you"
Penelope shows him mercy in this. She has asked him what he has done and she is given the option to not want him anymore after hearing about the monster he's turned into, but she doesn't. She forgives him. He asks for forgiveness and she grants it. That is mercy.
Not only that, but she also affirms that he is still him. The usage of husband here is important to me, because he says he's not her husband, who was gentle and kind, and she tells him that he is. He believes him beyond that world where people are empathetic and kind, but the roots of that world he created in Ithaca and with Athena allow him to come home. He isn't a monster beyond redemption, he is also a part of that kinder world, regardless of what he has done.
And then you have the music echo the Just a Man melody when Odysseus sings:
"I'm just a man who's trying to go home
Even after all the years away from what Iâve known
I'm just a man who's fighting for his life
Deep down I would trade the world to see my son and wife
I'm just a man"
He is brought back to who he was when he was still just a man, before he became a monster. He did trade the world to see his son and wife and that makes him just a man.
The whole musical asks the question when a man becomes a monster and I think while it is never explicitly answered, that the answer is: when he isn't shown mercy. And that by showing someone mercy, you can reverse that. That it isn't permanent. I really love the moral question of mercy vs. ruthlessness in that Epic has, so it was really interesting to see how it came back in the end :D

Hey guys!
As of the most recent Akatsuki event, fans of Ensemble Stars! across the globe have begun voicing their anger with the distasteful, ignorant, and outright bigoted nature of the franchise's story as a whole (most prominently (but not exclusively) its racist structure, undertones, plot points, and rhetoric). I have always been of the opinion that Happy Elements K.K. as a company is not worthy of respect, and wholly do not care about fans' and users' input, feelings, concerns, and criticisms. Time and time again, H.E. have not only put their own bottom line first, but have made it their only concern.
Needless to say, I am not only disappointed but infuriated with this company. While I am an optimist who hopes to see the best come from any situation, this is not one of the cases where this would be a realistic outlook. Because of this, posts on here will likely be infrequent, as I don't want anyone to believe that even for a moment I think their decisions are excusable.
That being said, while I encourage everyone to do their part in reminding H.E. over and over how much harm they've caused and the colossal damage they've done to their IP, I must also remind everyone that most of a gacha's game's profits come from the small percentage of its highest paying players (i.e. "whales"), and that H.E. has a long history of not listening to its playerbase's concerns and criticisms, even going as far as to silence them and block them for speaking up. They do not care what you think. They care about money, first foremost and only. Be active and speak up, don't support their shitty business practices, but don't run yourselves into the ground in the process of doing so, because at the end of the day they will continue trucking along-- they are too big to fail.
I encourage everyone to direct their focus towards fan creators, and send them as much of your kindness and love as possible. Support the people who create things due to passion and love, not just for money. Enstars has been lacking passionate stories for a long time anyway, with only a handful every now and again. Everyone who creates anything, no matter their skill level, deserves compassion and support. And if you're someone who wants to create something but fears mediocrity, create it anyway. Every great artist was consistently mediocre until they grew enough in their skill to start producing some things they like.
Additionally, this is in no way the fault of the seiyuu, the employees of H.E. who are not in charge of making decisions for the story, or anyone else who isn't directly involved with the meat of what makes Enstars, Enstars. These people are not to blame. Direct your ire towards the writers, the executives, and anyone else who allows these decisions to pass.
That's all I have to say for now. If you have any questions, feel free to send me an ask. I can't guarantee I'll get around to everything in a timely manner, but I assure you I will answer anything I can. Thank you for reading.

Isn't just a purposeful coping method people use? Because this is something I purposefully and knowingly do so often that I've had doctors call me out on it and write in my medical record that I have disabling dissociation caused by uncontrolled severe chronic pain. I go through my day by jumping from hyperfocus to hyperfocus dissociating the whole time, to the point where the ways that my dissociation affects me causes some pretty significant disability. And it keeps me safe in ways nothing else does as someone who pain is just a baseline of course its always there and has limited options of what I can do for it. And it makes a lot of things a lot more dangerous at the same time. Because balancing needs and coping and conflicting access needs with your own bodymind and things not being easy are all things. But yeah, body horror dissociation it is and it real weird to suddenly have the blips of the body horror.
Anyone else with chronic pain ever get really absorbed in a project and dissociate from your body while you're working but then you finish and you come back to your body and you're just like AAAAAAAHHH! WHAT'S WRONG?? oh yeah. The horrors. Never mind

Do You Know What You're Doing?
Anywhere I Want (1)
> melissa schemmenti x fem!reader
> requested? kinda, by the peeps of tumblr đđ»ââïž
> content/warnings: dress shaming? is that even a thing...
> a/n: PLEASEEEE, don't worry i'm gonna post more as i go deeper the algorithm of tiktok
Stealing glances between the five of them, Ava tilted her head as she locked eyes with Barbara, silently asking what just happened. Barbara gave the young woman a shrug and pulled Melissa towards their chairs.
âSo, what're we going to talk about? Don't worry we don't bite.â Charlie started with a sickeningly sweet smile, which made Kristin Marie lean forward and stare at the blonde.
âWhy is she like that?â You whispered to the Italian blonde right next to you. Kristin Marie gave you a shrug. âBeats the hell outta me.â
Sighing at the situation, Melissa raised a hand. âYes? Schemmenti with the red hair!â Pointing her hand towards Melissa, Ava gave the room a bright smile.
âHow âbout we just do our jobsââ
âRight! Thatâs so right, Schemmenti! And not your sister, you!â Charlie's overly passive aggressive statement made Melissa's eye and hand twitch, one more comment from the blonde, Melissa would have to march down her classroom, get her baseball bat, and beat the headlights off Charlie's car.
âWhat in the fuck?â Holding her laugh, Kristin Marie gave you a nudge and nodded towards her sister's direction. Being the obedient person you are, you turned your head to look at the redheadâs direction and found her already looking at you with a raised eyebrow.
Nodding her head towards Charlie, Melissa silently asked you what the hell is going on between your friend. In reply, you gave her a shrug and kicked Charlie lightly to stop her from staring at Melissa with shade.
She looks at me like I'm a trend and she's so over it
At last the meeting was over. With Charlie always butting herself whenever an Abbott teacher was speaking made all the teachers, even ones from Addington, very irritative.
âThis whole meeting could've finished within an hour if the blonde baboon kept her mouth shut.â An elder Addington teacher rolled his eyes as he opened the building front door.
âTotally true.â Another teacher agreed.
âWell, that Charlie's going to be the talk of Addington now.â said Barbara as she stood behind the front desk, fishing for her lost pen that she lent to the front desk worker yesterday.
âYeah,â started Janine sadly, âbut she was just giving out ideas, guys!â She looked at the people in front of her and not one gave her a âyesâ or a nod.
âYâknow Janine, in this industry, you can either be overly respected by not saying anything or have at least an ounce of dignity before you open your mouth.â Melissa gave Janine a look before jostling her bags as she looked for her car keys.
âSchemmenti's right, with that dress on you would've thought she knew how to brake her mouth.â Ava gave Melissa a pat on the back, which Melissa shrugged her off harshly before glaring at the principal.
âShe was just doing her job, I see nothing wrong with that.â Gregory gave Janine an encouraging smile. âCâmon Greg, what part of being a teacher has you bamboozling your colleagues?â Jacob gave Gregory a challenging look which made him look at the camera in defeat.
âYour principalâs right, beanpole. C got a little carried away today.â An accented voice behind them spoke.
Turning their heads towards the voice, they saw you and Kristin Marie in front of them. âA little? You mean âtooâ.â You huffed as you crossed your arms in disappointment.
âShe was all over the place, hell she's not like that when she teaches gym at school.â You threw your hands up and gave Kristin Marie a look.
Shaking her head, Kristin Marie gave you a nod. âYeah, well, this isn't Addington.â She pulled you by the arm towards the exit. âCâmon pipsqueak. See yaâ later at the dinner, Red.â Kristin Marie gave her sister a nod and left with you.
But no amount of vintage dresses gives you dignity
âDinner? You do know you have a husband, right?â
ââCourse I do, you moron.â Kirstin Marie tossed you another dress. Chuckling as it landed on your face.
âThen why do I have to go?â You stomped your feet as you plopped down your bed onto a pool of dressed your friend gave you.
âYou have nowhere to go.â You raised your eyebrow at your friend. âFine, Ma has been askinâ âbout you this month. Gonna give âer what she wants.â
Rolling her eyes, Kristin Marie threw another dress at your face. âPut that on and put an act later.â
Pulling the dress off your face, you turned around and walked towards your bathroom. âAn act?â
âYeah, you bozzo. Maâs expecting you to come with Red.â The blonde sat down on your bed, making you poke your head out the bathroom door and give her a glare.
âGet the fuck off my bed.â Throwing her hands in disbelief, Kristin Marie stood up. âAnd what do you mean âactâ?â
âToniâs gonna be your girlfriend tonight.â
âWhat?!â You shrieked as you entered your bedroom. âIsn't that lying to your mom? And your family?â Giving Kristin Marie a twirl, you went towards your vanity and fixed your hair.
âYeah, don't act like you haven't lied before. You ain't a saint nor Mother Theresa, stronzzo.â
âPlus, it'll be fun playing with Red.â Kristin Marie wiggled her eyebrows and grinned. âItâs gonna be so fun.â
Giving you a tap on the shoulders, your friend prompted you to get up. âCâmon, pipsqueak. We have revenge waiting.â
Slinging your bag on your shoulder, you but your lip. âI don't know about this, Tin. What if Mel gets mad? Why are we even doing this?â
âAnd? She ain't gonna to anything âcause Maâs there. We're doing this because Toni and I find it funny.â
Locking your door, you bagged your house keys and got your car keys out. âFine, but if Mel unfriends me on Facebook, it's your fault.â The effect of what you were going to do to you made Kristin Marie burst out laughing.
Holding her stomach, your let out a breath. âJesus Y/N. She's not gonna do that! Trust me. I ain't gonna do anything to worsen your rift with my sister. The family likes you. That redhead idiot just needs a push.â
Opening the car door, Kristin Marie pushed you inside the driver's seat. âLet's go!â
She's not a saint, and she's not what you think

Fandom Memories: HMFarm
Hmmm. So, nearly a quarter of you whippersnappers wanna hear about the good ol' days, huh? Well, back in the day, you wouldn't just hang out on one or two big websites to try to find people who shared your niche interests among a million random users. Everything had its own dedicated site, with its own special pack of weirdos that you probably wouldn't find anywhere else. Home grown fandom, sprouting from the cement sidewalks of the freshly paved internet like so many weeds with pretty little flowers on top. So, let's take a little stroll down memory lane and visit one of the oldest fan sites with Archive.org's "Wayback Machine."
Ahh, just like I remember it. This here is "Harvest Moon Farm." 'course, we just called it HMFarm, like the URL did. This used to be the place to be. The prime progenitor of all farmin' fansites in the English speaking community. Maybe not the literal first, but up until around 2005, this was where you would go if you wanted to know anythin' about digital farmin'. It truly was a magical place to visit.
This screenshot isn't the oldest design, but it's the one I fondly remember. The majority of my time using the site was during the lead-up to A Wonderful Life, which was probably also when it was the most active as an information source. Seeing the screenshots, checking the forums, speculatin', wonderin', dreamin'... It's a warm feeling. I can't really describe how it felt to look at these shots for the first time. Granted, they were mostly sourced from various places like IGN or Newtechnix, but who wanted to go to THOSE messy sites when all the info I wanted was right here? IGN wasn't telling me how to revive the Vineyard in Harvest Moon 64 while I was waiting for AWL news either.
Our first look at the character we would come to know as Muffy, the sheer novelty of being able to go into the townsfolk's glorious, 3D-rendered rooms, the apparent misidentification of flowering tomatoes... The webmaster, Gamergirl87, would caption each one as well. Some of the captions of those screenshots ended up not being exactly true, but it was the closest thing to on-going coverage we really had. Who else was there to trust?
It's a little off topic, but I think at one point after learning about the GBA connectivity, I must have dreamed about this very gallery and seeing a screenshot of a Gamecube-ized Popuri with the caption that Mineral Town villagers would visit after connecting the GC and GBA together. At least, I'm pretty sure it was a dream. I've met some people who claim they saw the same thing, but none of us have been able to find that screenshot or comment again.
The one that would most catch my attention was the one on the left here. I didn't have a PlayStation 2, so I was coming fresh off of the GameBoy and Nintendo 64 when going into A Wonderful Life. The pond, the mysterious glowing plants, the mood and ambiance of their lighting, the little tree on the door... Naturally, I mirrored it on my first day the remake was available.
It's a real shame that the message boards are poorly preserved, since it doesn't look like there was a news post about the pre-order plush cow. I was hoping to find the name of whoever it was that convinced me to commit my first ever preorder. I still have the receipt, but without the forum post it's really only tangentially related to HM Farm.
'course, just learning about existing games and upcoming games wasn't the only good thing HM Farm was for. As I alluded to, there was a whole community here! While it's a shame that the message boards aren't well preserved by the Wayback Machine, you know what is?
The "ideas" list! This incredible time capsule was one of the first "interactive" parts of the site, starting in the year 2000. It's kind of fun to see how many of these ideas actually happened. Obviously, new characters and personalities were probably expected, but Animal Parade would eventually feature a honeymoon, several games have clothing and other customization, a mall, city, and pig would be added as soon as GBC 3, a goat would be in A Wonderful Life... It's actually amazing how prescient a lot of the suggestions are.
I'd share the whole thing, but the amount of e-mail addresses involved gives me pause. Still, there's a couple I wanna highlight:
Considering how often I still hear about people wanting to marry the moms and people attributing it to just "the fans getting older," it's funny to see Laserion lay out that, no, we've always been like this. Right down to using Manna's unhappy marriage and Lillia's husband never returning as valid reasons they should be available.
Tuan145, on the other hand, I just find extremely amusing because of the specific "2002 Escalade" part. Yes, this is clearly the ideal vehicle for all farmers in the Story of Seasons universe. This is now accepted headcanon. The boat was added in GBC 3 too, so obviously a 2002 Escalade is going to be added any day now.
Another thing that's amazingly well preserved is the site's fan art section. There's a few missing images here and there, but for the most part the entire thing is open to explore. People of basically all ages and skill levels happily submitted their creations, including original characters, digital art, traditional art, crossovers with popular series like Sailor Moon, a liiittle bit of drug use... Y'know, all the kinds of things you'd expect to see in a fan art gallery of the day.
Even better, some of the artists are still doing art today! Looking around, I quickly discovered one of my favorites, Rina Cat, is now on Blue Sky. I made sure to ask for permission to repost their art before including it here. Reaching out to everyone would be a bit much though, so I'll just encourage you to just browse the gallery using the Wayback Machine yourself. There's poetry and fanfics too!
There's a lot more to the site, including useful bits of history like keeping track of release dates for games, pre-release screenshots, and information that was only available on Japanese websites at the time, but I'll leave it at that for now.
Unfortunately, though the site continued to be updated until 2010 and stayed online until 2021, it's no longer available on the regular internet and the URL doesn't seem safe to access anymore. I wanted to include an interview with the former webmaster as well, but all their readily available contact information was tied to the website and I haven't had any luck so far in finding other means of contact. If I have any success, I'll be sure to make a follow-up! If you have any memories of HMFarm, or other fan sites, I'd be happy to hear about it.
#story of seasons#harvest moon#fandom history#i started this post by using portraits of Taro every couple paragraphs#to help sell that the âvoiceâ of the article was a comically old and crotchety old man remembering the good old days#but he has like NO emotional range in his portraits. âHappyâ just uses closed eyes and mouth open#so the idea was abandoned as the post went on. oh well#For a lot of the smaller sites I'm not sure if I can really write up a long article#I might try to do something more like a series of little glossary entries in batches or something?

The reason I say it's classical conditioning is because I'm trying to make a connection between my child going unaccompanied out into the street and the stimulus of mild pain. Pat loves dogs with salivate simply at the sound of the bell. I would want my child, only if necessary, to make the connection between going unaccompanied out into the road and excessively mild pain.
And as to doing it to an adult. I mean the only reason I wouldn't is because I wouldn't have to but if for some reason I did have to, sure I would do that to an adult. Giving them a mild slap on the wrist or on the butt? A slap that would sing for about 10 to 15 seconds? Sure, if there was a reason of course I do that to an adult. There would just be no reason for it probably. But I do agree with you; if you wouldn't do it to an adult, no it should not be done to a child. But you're assuming that I wouldn't do it to an adult.
But you just said it yourself, you said that it CAN cause trauma for the victim, not that it WILL or DOES. The word can does not make an automatic conclusion, it does not make an every single case scenario. I fully admit that it absolutely can traumatize somebody, but not that it always does. Like I said, every single adult ranging from roughly their 80s down to probably their 50s in the United States who went through the public school system would be traumatized if that were the case and that's just simply not true.
See, this is where we differ. You're saying that what I'm advocating will actually harm a child and I am saying it absolutely will not. It will not under the right circumstances, no not simply because of the amount of pressure applied but more importantly the already established relationship between the child and the parent. If the parent is good, if the parent is attentive, loving, nurturing, under all other circumstances except an instance that would probably happen between one to five times and the child's entire life, no this is not going to traumatize a child. They will love and trust their parent and know that their parent is not abusive. If there was other abuse going on of some sort, then yes, this would only serve to aggravate the problem.
I don't doubt that there have been people traumatized by spanking, probably many of them. That was never in question for me. I doubt that spanking my child like I said a total of probably five times maximum and yet providing them with a stable and nurturing environment for the rest of their childhood is going to cause them to have severe trauma by any means, if any trauma at all. Do I have proof of this? In all fairness and honesty, no I don't. But I do have common sense. I also have the Bible which I strongly prefer to research.
I'll give you an example of how flawed research can be. Take the COVID-19 vaccines. If I want to, I can go online and find a ton of research advocating their effectiveness but I can also go online and find just as much research advocating how much damage they can cause. The point is, with the Internet these days, it is hard to tell what research is legitimate. I'm not saying that the research on spanking isn't legitimate, I'm sure most of it is. But you have to consider the type of study done, was it blind or double blind, What was the bias of the researcher going into such research, there are just so many different factors. I don't have faith in science. It's too biased, it's too easily falsified these days, it's to flawed.
Let me correct you there, I'm not trying to convince the rest of the world of anything. I'm responding to a whole bunch of people who chose to respond to me. I stated an opinion. I stated one opinion. Now? I'm responding to a bunch of people who don't like my opinion. I'm not trying to change any of your minds. I'm not trying to change anyone's mind. I'm trying to convince you that you're not going to change mine.
And as to what punishment is and isn't acceptable, again that is my opinion. If there was a law preventing such punishment then of course I would adhere to it. I do believe in following the law. But as of now, what I am talking about has no type of law preventing me from doing so. ïżŒ
Everyone is so quick to state that something is abusive. Abuse requires motive, either motive or excessive harm. The motive behind abusing a child is to hurt someone who is powerless and defenseless, someone who is apparently supposed to be weaker than yourself. That's not what I'm talking about doing at all. I'm talking about taking a very small and mild preventative step to try and ensure that my child lives. I am doing this for my child safety, not for some kind of weird sadistic reason. There's a very big difference between this and abuse.
It's OK, you can make my position clear as you say. I think if anybody goes to my blog my position will be fairly clear there as well. But yes, I have made up my mind. And I sleep very well knowing that it provides my child with an extra measure of safety. That a maximum of like three minutes of mild pain in my child's entire childhood could possibly save their life? Yep, all I know is I'm going to make a very good mother, not a perfect one but a good one. ïżŒïżŒïżŒïżŒïżŒïżŒïżŒïżŒïżŒïżŒïżŒ
When people get pregnant, they will give up smoking, give up alcohol, give up coffee and soda, give up fondue and raw cheese, give up cold cuts and sushi, all because they have heard somewhere, from someone, that these things can be bad for the baby. They donât know the research, havenât looked at the studies, canât talk about sample sizes and control groups. But their dedication to their future childâs safety is so strong, their caution is so overpowering, that they give up these things just in case.Â
So it baffles me when those same people will insist on spanking their kids.Â
Even when they are shown the research.
Regardless of what the experts in the field say.Â
No matter who says it.Â
Or how it is said.Â
People are so invested in this ability to hit their kids without judgement or consequence, that it absolutely confounds me.Â
