a bit of a personal ramble because fuck it, i’m posting whatever i want on here:

the past couple years have been some of the most difficult of my life. my mom being unexpectedly hospitalized twice, the worst creative burnout of my career, the grief of reading the news about palestine every day, deep rooted anxieties about not being good enough resurfacing at an all time high, and realizing i was unhappy around people i thought i’d love forever. without getting too dark, i’d never felt more hopeless.

but even through all of that, even with the state of the world right now and the impending doom of waking up each day, i think this might be the most fearless i’ve felt in a very long time.

i just want to be alive and create and build community and share a space where we all still feel hope for our world. and that’s what i’m going to do, through the fear, through all the shit of life, i’ll be here.

I’m excited to present to you… the first piece of fanart for @playedcrowd5610 fanfic adopticons based on something that ACTUALLY happens in the fic!! A miracle, truly.

I had a lot of fun drawing this, it’s just two cutie patooties chillin on a light pole. At first i rendered a lot more detail on Danny’s face but it was to complicated and didn’t really fit the style, I spent a full day just debating with myself if I should get rid of it or not jdisks . I also used a textured brush on Laserbeak only to decide I didn’t like it halfway through shading her and I had to do all the lighting over again 😭 worth it tho

I’m also never really sure how to shade Danny as phantom cus ya know, the boy IS the light source a lot of the time, but I think I got it figured out with this and that makes it all worth it even if I didn’t like it, which I do :3

The base was a Victorinox bag I picked up at the thrift store in like 2018/2019, I covered the front in green canvas, added patches, spikes, and studs, and made some pins using the bottom of soda cans and old seed catalogs. They say “rudbeckia love” “sun revolution” and “bee’s cradle”. They’re fastened with just a pop tab hot glued to the pin and a safety pin strung through it. + I added my bath and body works hand sanitizer & holder (you can refill them!)

I didn’t want to add too much all at once, so I hope to slowly add more stuff in the future. Also apparently the brand is the same one that makes Swiss Army knives? It’s pretty good, the size of the bag is perfect for my needs.

The pins aren’t perfect but they were the first ones I made using this technique but I want to make some more in the future. Though I’m probably going to get actual pin backs next time.
