i hate being called male terms or even receiving masculine compliments sometimes (i especially hate the word handsome...) but for some reason getting called boyfriend makes me 😳
#especially if its teasing like... okay... can i take your hand in marriage#wont be ur husband tho im your wife but your boyfriend too. *gerard way voice* and ALSO... ur girl#ive always hated masculine compliments for everyone basically. its why you always see me calling ppl pretty or beautiful here#even when i was a kid and my mom would b asking me about male celebritie id always just go 'that ones pretty i guess'#and then shed say 'omg boys arent pretty' well im NOT calling that thing handsome#also dont like the word gorgeous#if i say pretty it means ur attractive. if i say cute it means im in love w u. if i say beautiful??? i am imagining us getting married#those r the only compliments i will give based on appearance the other ones are just weirddd#well ok hate is a strong word i dont HATE male terms#i just used to rlly distance myself from bein a woman and it was harmful for me in the long run i think#so like ehhh idk i dont like it :/#plus people irl being super weird about my gender. cannot comprehend that i am in fact a girl#insist on not using she/her for me EVEN WHEN i explicitly tell them that i use those prnouns#like. huh???#who is that supposed to help...#im so jaded atp id rather get called he than they#just by the amount of people who ignore boundaries and call me they bc theyre. uncomfortable with gnc women i guess???#sorry if this comes across insensitive but honestly i dont care im so sick of people treating me like that#smells like homophobia 2.0 but from ppl who are supposed to NOT do that#like i always call ppl the pronouns they ask me to but apparently that does not go both ways the minute im gnc

Bloodlust
Aemond Targaryen x wife reader
Word count: 2.6k+
About: Aemond, unable to leave you behind in King's Landing on his way to Rook's Rest, returns to you after a successful scouting mission.
Includes: Contains future Fire and Blood spoilers (prelude to battle at rook's rest and a couple of the events leading up to it - mentioned, but not heavily described), and SMUT. Featuring murder (no descriptions of it), blood, Aemond's slightly (?) unhinged, blood eating (this is a fantasy in a work of fiction - please do not do this irl), reader is hot for Aemond's gloves, blowjob, rough Aemond, minor praise, unprotected vaginal sex, brief degradation, creampie, and reader and Aemond say 'i love you' at the end. Whew! Apologies if I missed anything!
Note: Hello lovely reader! This is pure filth. Sorry for the grainy header photo. This specific gif is still driving me insane and was the whole inspiration for this fic! As always, reader is non-descript and I hope you enjoy it! ♥
With Lucerys’ death, the war of ravens came to an end, and the war of fire and blood began.
Prince Aemond Targaryen, your lord husband, barely allowed you from his side much less from his sight.
Kinslayer everyone called him. In fear, in awe, as a curse.
After the murder of the King’s princeling son, Jaehaerys Targaryen, King Aegon II would no longer fight this war with quills and ink. He meant to win it with swords and blood. An eye for an eye. A son for a son. King Aegon dehanded his grandsire, Otto Hightower, as Hand of the King and gave the pin to Crison Cole instead. Criston was ravenous for it and immediately began planning an attack against the Blacks.
Duskendale would likely stand little chance against the Greens who were three-thousand men strong. If by some miracle they were able to defend their city, Aemond upon Vhagar and Aegon upon Sunfyre would overwhelm them from above.
Despite the odds being in your husband’s favor, anxiety still gnawed at you from the inside. The hour was late and sleep evaded you at every chance inside your martial tent. War was hardly the place for a woman, but Aemond refused to let you stay behind at the Red Keep while he marched to battle. He trusted your safety to no one except for himself. He deemed there wasn’t a safer place in all of Westeros than with him. You believed him.
You weren’t the only woman traveling with their army. There were other lady wives in similar positions to your own, a few cooks as well, and medics. Judging by some things you’d heard along the way, you weren’t too sure if there wasn’t a gaggle of whores somewhere too.
The company of other women made you feel significantly better–whether they were whores or healers alike.
No one was allowed in yours and Aemond’s tent, however, and everyone knew that. Regardless if you and Aemond were inside or not, a pair of guards stood watch outside at all times. Tonight, a third armored man joined.
Criston, Aemond, and a small group of soldiers scouted ahead to gather what information they could on Duskendale’s defense. Hours had passed since they left. Ideas, scenarios, and other horrible images filled your brain on what might be happening. The entire scouting party was extremely skilled; the rational part of your brain knew they’d be able to handle anything that crossed their path. Yet… what if Duskendale housed monsters like the Targaryens housed dragons?
There wasn’t any room for a fire inside the tent. Nor was it safe. An oil lamp sat atop a makeshift desk and a few scattered candles lit the darkest corners of the space. Laying on your side, you watched all of the little flames and prayed for your husband’s safe return.
Perhaps you dozed off, or went into a sort of prayer-induced trance, or simply lost track of time, but a clattering commotion outside seized your attention. Fight, flight, freeze: the instincts of any animal. Leaning up you grabbed a dagger from the makeshift nightstand. You held it in front of you, ready to defend yourself if need be. Fight. You would go down fighting.
Aemond’s soft voice whooshed inside on a rush of cold night air. “Ābrazȳrys.” wife
“My love!” You said with an exhalation. You laid the dagger back down and stood, stepping to him with hurried strides. “Blessed Seven you returned! I’ve been so worried.”
He walked towards you as you came to him, long steps slow and sure. If he had taken note of the dagger in your hand he made no mention of it. His silence was almost as unnerving as the glint of his dilated eye in the low light.
You meant to throw your arms around his neck and squeeze him against you so you knew him to be real and true, right here and now, rather than a ghost summoned by your worst nightmare. But, something stopped you. You stared up at him, doe-eyed.
The blood splattered across his alabaster face spoke more words than he could vocalize. The smell of him–metallic and heavy–sent your own blood rushing. Even his hair was matted by thick streaks of dark blood. “What happened?”
A serpentine grin slid across his chiseled face and his seeing eye lit with deranged lust. His gloved hands gripped around your forearms, squeezing. “They’re dead.”
“W-who?”
“Duskendale scouts. We found them, questioned them, and killed them,” he answered with soft-spoken intensity, gripping your arms tighter. “Cole’s speaking with Aegon now. We attack tomorrow. Duskendale will fall, and Rook’s Rest after. We will cripple my half-sister and uncle’s strategy before they gain it.”
Your pulse hammered against your chest. Behind your ears. You weren’t sure if Aemond realized how harshly he held your arms. It hurt. “Th-that’s wonderful news,” you stammered, looking up at him with a mixture of awe and creeping fright. “Are you hurt?”
He shook his head and let go of your arms. Then, he held your face as he crashed his mouth down to yours, kissing you with victory that smelled, and tasted, of copper. “My brother will have his throne,” he rasped against your mouth. “My whore of a sister and her bastard horde will never claim what is Aegon’s by right.”
You whimpered against his mouth, against his words, melting into him as he wrapped his arms around your waist and hip. Lifting your hands to grip onto the front of his dark green doublet, your breath caught in your throat. Blood stained the white of your chemise where he had squeezed your forearms. It looked nearly black in the tent’s candlelight. Leaning back half a step, you looked down your body and saw the front of you stained as well. Not only was his face and hair speckled with blood, but his new military garb was covered in it. “Aemond…!”
“Shh, my sweet wife,” he said against your neck, nipping the sensitive flesh.
Confusion, elation, and lust roared through your body, all of them trying to outdo each other. None of the emotions won. They only succeeded in tightening the muscles of your belly and making your entire nervous system quiver. Why were you like this? Why did your prince husband covered in other people’s blood make you yearn with dark desire? Goosebumps rose on your skin as Aemond nipped, kissed, and sucked all along your neck and shoulder. On instinct, you began to work open the buttons on his overcoat; you’d only seen him in this garb a few times, and your fingers fumbled with inexperience over them.
“I’d do it all again,” he said by your ear. “I will do it again. All across the Seven Kingdoms.”
You understood his meaning. You heard what he left unsaid. Pulling back, you peered up into his seeing eye. A hundred emotions lay bare for you to see: rage, satisfaction, confidence, hunger. “Who are you doing it for?” You asked softly.
“For my brother. For my hatred of my half-sister. For you.”
Aemond’s leather glove was warm when you grabbed his hand–the blood on it slightly sticky to your bare touch–and you nuzzled your face into it. “My sweet, dark prince,” you cooed, kissing his palm. His fingers. Languid. Dizzy on the intoxicating aura radiating off him. You bit the tip of one finger, sly; blood that certainly wasn’t your husbands smeared your mouth.
Witnessing your reverence had Aemond groaning in low inaudible High Valyrian. His soft raspy voice praised you in words you didn’t know. With his free hand he pulled you against him, his hard cock pressing firmly against the soft span of your belly.
You moaned behind his hand. “You will win this war for your brother,” you said adoringly. “Not Crison, not Rosby, or Stokeworth, or anyone else. You and Vhagar.” The feeling of him against your belly had embers searing your senses. Without allowing yourself to think twice about it, you licked one of his gloved fingers. The leather was smooth beneath your tongue, and your tastebuds exploded with the coppery taste of some man’s blood.
Aemond fucking groaned.
You did it again.
Tension sparked down your spine like lightning and that delicate space between your thighs clenched around nothing. Despite the barriers of clothing between you two you swore you felt him throb. “You are the only weapon Aegon needs.”
He watched in fascination as you shamelessly licked the bloodshed from his glove. He nearly spent in his pants as you took his thumb into your mouth, sucking. “My filthy wife,” he hissed, pulling you further into him. He kissed you again and this time he tasted blood. He licked into your mouth, seeking it deeper.
Each little moan his passion coaxed from you, he swallowed whole. Once again you began fumbling with the front of his attire, working the buttons open until you were able to push it off his shoulders. Beneath he wore a simple linen shirt, and you helped tug that off, too. With one final nip to his bottom lip you began to sink down to your knees before him.
Aemond watched you hungerly.
You could unbuckle his belt behind your back by now–it stood no chance as you deftly slid it open. The front of his pants didn’t fight you as his tunic did. You pulled them down enough to free his cock, and you wasted no time in pressing deliberate, hot, open-mouthed kisses along it. You didn’t care that he was unwashed. If anything, the scent of leather, sweat, and battle on him made your desire boil over. Saliva instinctively collected in your mouth, and your eager kisses soon had your tongue sliding along him. By the time you wrapped your soft, lovely mouth around him it was lewd, and wet, and slow. You looked up at him, watching him unravel as you made a sensuous show of swallowing as much of him as you could.
Aemond’s eye hooded as he watched you. He would never fucking tire of watching you take him whole–your mouth or your cunt. Blood still streaked your exquisite features. It made the whole thing obscene. Blood from men he killed to protect his brother. To keep the throne for him. To protect you. “Fucking hells–,” he hissed. “There… yeah, oh yeah, hold my cock in that little throat of yours.”
Tears brimmed your eyes as you held, drool already threatening to dribble down the swell of your lip onto your chin. You knew your husband liked it slow and messy like this. You knew he’d have the muscles of your throat flex around him until your head became dizzy from lack of air. You loved it–and he knew that. You held onto his thighs for support, cunt soaked and throbbing between your legs.
He pulled back slightly, before pushing forward, giving your slobbering mouth deep shallow thrusts. “I love how you sound gagging,” he praised, threading his gloved hand into your hair.
You nodded, tears still threatening to leave your eyes, moaning deep in your throat to his lecherous praise.
With a handful of your hair your prince husband bobbed your head along his cock for his pleasure, fucking into your mouth with perfect timing. He tipped his head back. He could never get enough of this.
His strokes were getting longer and quicker, now, a sure sign that he was getting close to finishing. You held on all the while, savoring the rough treatment as much, or perhaps more, than he was.
Finally, he stopped. Looking down at you again he said, out of breath, “I want to fill your cunny tonight, not your mouth.” Then, he clicked his tongue and said, “up.” He helped you stand, and before he could stop himself he was kissing you again, wild and voracious, licking away any trace of blood he had left on your face from earlier. He walked you backwards to the bed all the while and only stopped when the backs of your legs bumped into the cot. Smirking, he helped you out of your shift. He pushed you back onto it before finally stepping out of his pants and boots.
Below him, you didn’t even care that his Targaryen hair was clumped with dried bits of blood. No, all you cared about was the weight of his cock as he settled it against you. Hot, heavy, smooth. He was perfect. All of him was perfect.
He squeezed your breasts in his hands–he was still wearing those fucking gloves! Of course he took everything off except for those!–rumbling his appreciation at the softness of them. His cock lined up with you effortlessly. With a push of his hips, he sunk into you.
The stretch of him, the fullness of him, the sensation of being as close to him as you ever could be, had your eyes rolling closed and mouth parting open. In that same effortless manner, your legs wrapped around his trim waist. You were so wet that your body immediately yielded to him. You bit back a moan, not wanting to draw attention from anyone who might be in earshot of your tent.
Above you, Aemond smiled a dark smile. Shadows danced across his features and made the angular lines of his face sharper. “How does it feel to be right where you belong? Under me, full of me, wet as a maiden and hungry as a whore?”
Your legs flexed around him tighter. Heat bloomed beneath your face. “S-so fucking good..!”
He could see you holding back your sounds of pleasure. “Let them hear you,” he said, thrusting into you harder. Deeper. “Open that pretty mouth and let them hear.” Fingers pinched your nipples as he plunged into you again and again, filling you to your body’s end.
Even if he wanted you to stay quiet there was no way you could. Your sounds of pleasure spilled from your mouth as he nearly fucked you through the cot. It was as divine as it was harsh. Rough as it was loving. You weren't going to last long. Aemond wouldn’t either. “God–! Aemond..!” His name left your mouth in a wanton gasp, back arching.
With your mouth hanging open, he pushed two fingers inside to muffle some of those beautiful noises. “My pretty wife overwhelmed with bloodlust,” he crooned, tilting his head as he watched your fucked-out expressions. “Come with me,” he rasped, cock swelling impossibly harder. “Come with me.”
You did. The tension in your belly snapped, and any restraint you were holding vanished. Your thighs quivered around him. The emotion and sensation that overcame you was intense and all consuming. Aemond, Aemond, Aemond. You’d give him a babe tonight. You knew you would.
He throbbed inside your flexing and relaxing walls, his seed filling you past the brim of your cunt. It dribbled out of you while his thrusts slowed. His breath came heavy and labored, face finally softening in the orange glow of the tent. “Vok. perfect You are so perfect,” he whispered, pressing his forehead to yours as you both came down from the heights of shared orgasm.
Your legs loosened around him until they lay open, allowing him to slip out from the cradle of your body. “Duskendale will fall tomorrow,” you said to him, kissing him gently. “You will be the victor.”
He laid beside you, then, and pulled you against him so you were laying on your sides face to face. “Anyone who dare face me will fall. The entire realm will fall before me,” he answered with the softest utmost confidence.
Nodding, you smiled and kissed him again. “The world is yours, my prince. With fire and blood.”
“With fire and blood,” he proclaimed, hooking your leg over his waist. Then, he whispered, “I love you.”
And you said it back, meaning it wholly.

To continue riffing on the marriage/tradition stuff because that’s one of the themes I’m obsessed with in her discography, it’s fascinating because it would be easy to reduce it to, “she’s adhering to patriarchal societal norms in chasing the traditional nuclear family and that’s why she throws herself into these relationships,” but it’s just so reductive to well, how human beings exist in the world. Just because it’s a societal pressure doesn’t mean some people don’t genuinely want to get married or have families.
Yes, she’s been singing about it right back to her first album when she as 16. Yes, her view on it has evolved, from marrying the sweet neighbor boy to the princess fairytale early on (debut/fearless), to the disillusionment that increasingly pushed it out of the narrative (speak now/red/1989), to slowly letting herself believe in forever again (rep), to seemingly actually committed (lover), to questioning what that means (folklore/evermore) to trying to reconcile what it means for her current life (midnights). Every relationship she experienced throughout those periods informed those views and how *she* pursued it.
I think what makes it so interesting on TTPD is that it is EVERYWHERE, as I mentioned in my previous post about it. And it’s unsettling because it’s not just in the setting we expect it to be — e.g. a long term partner she’d previously indicated she was ready to marry — but also in songs about a man who swooped in to save her when she was low only to break her apart, in thinly-veiled fantasies about strange bedfellow neighbours, another thinly-veiled story about marrying the person you want consequences be damned, in taunting your on again/off again partner in a bar (e.g. i want to smash your bike or be your wife).
And it’d be easy to chalk it up to, well she’s in her 30s and the clock is ticking, she’s just obsessive! And there’s a nugget there about women and their bodies and both the lauding and weaponization thereof and everything that personally I’m dying to talk about at some point. But when it comes down to it, I’m willing to bet that the reason why it’s everywhere is because THAT WAS HER LIFE. That was the plan she’d taken for granted for so long — and I don’t just mean in a general sense as a girl in the world — but in the very real, very tangible way she was living her life and in the circumstances that led to what would be written about in TTPD. By working out all these scenarios through her songs (and tbh in whatever she was doing IRL that inspired them), she was grappling with and grieving the loss of the life she thought was ahead of her. We’ve talked about how pervasive grief has been on her recent albums, in all kinds of forms, and I think this is kind of the culmination of all of those worries.
She’s not the girl with the paper ring and all’s well did not end well to end up with him. She’s not the girl who has his midnights after cleaning up bottles on New Year’s Day. She couldn’t give him her wild or a child because it wasn’t enough. She may have even been the self-fulfilling prophecy of the girl who is fucked in the head, but feels more like the one left out on the landing.
So in TTPD, she is all of these things. She’s the neglected wife whose husband cheats on her so she runs off with an old flame. She’s the one who gets the jewel on her ring finger and talks about babies because he says it’s love. She’s the woman whose partner once made a promise but never followed through. She’s the hell-raiser who follows love in a different kind of getaway car while the town calls her mad, consequences be damned, but joke’s on them because she gets the wedding in the end anyway. She’s the wife who feeds her cheating husband to the swamps of Florida. She gets swept off her feet by an old flame to run down the aisle. SHE’S the one who gets to decide if she’s gonna marry him or decimate him (be his wife or smash his bike). She’s the girl who didn’t become the wife while she watches the one that got away marry his. She’s the woman scorned who has to call the whole thing off. She’s the saucy girl who bets her new lover is gonna marry her for real. She’s sold off as chattel to the highest bidder in an arranged marriage. She’s the young girl starry-eyed with the dreams she grew up with only to have them go up in flames, leaving only her pen behind to turn it into art.
She navigates all these scenarios because in the end, she isn’t any of them and she is all of them. She’s mourning what she gave up, mourning what she’s already lost, mourning the time she feels she wasted and could have started over. She’s mourning any number of women she could have been if she’d just tried something else, but also mourning that ultimately much of this was out of her hands. She’s grappling with a past that can’t change and a future that doesn’t exist. Every one of these scenarios is a way her life could have gone with any number of different decisions, but in the end, none of that matters, because she is who she is and what happened happened.
Obviously there’s a lot more going on in the album; she’s not just processing the end of relationships, she’s processing her fame and career and health and harassment and trauma and struggles and misogyny and any number of things in frankly shocking ways. But, I think there’s also no denying that this very important thing — the step many young adults expect to take in their lives — precipitated a whole lot of what went on, and may have even had a domino effect on all the other issues explored. It’s raw and vulnerable and ugly and funny and human.
Anyway apparently I’m back and thinking.

****Meet the Grimes****
A second chance & heartbreak
A new life on the road
A united front
A well deserved reunion
What a family ❤️🔥
The Last Grimes
Some context before a rant:
I can’t believe some people still exclude Michonne and RJ from the Grimes family. I saw an old post with Judith tagged as #TheLastGrimes, and a recent one claiming Michonne wasn’t Judy’s mother? I beg your pardon? (yes, it was on twitter).
Since the early days on the mothership, TWDU fandom has been so oblivious to racist bias and tropes, to the point of marginalizing Michonne fucking Grimes from her own family, the hero, supermom and wife, who *actually* raised "the last Grimes" mind you!
We really don’t respect Black women, their labour, their love and loyalty, neither irl nor in fiction.
This shows up everyday in very real ways in our lives. Whether for Black girls, gals, wives, girlfriends, single mothers, baby mamas, widows and their children. Whether they gave birth to their children or not, whether they’re mixed or not, Black motherhood is systematically denigrated. I wouldn’t recommend to anyone who doesn’t see how disastrous these optics are to engage with this.
The disrespect of Black women, the erasure of mixed children, claiming ownership of kids one didn’t raise, minimizing the bonds of a new family... See, I don’t fuck with that bs and it will be read as anti-Blackness and misogynoir on my part. People can argue with a wall.
The Grimes all chose each other, went to hell, and only some came back. A lot of us wanted nothing more than to see them reunited and finally at peace, and we did. Such canon is too much for some. Not for me. It was well-earned, by the characters as well as by the audience, and so refreshing in such cynical times. On one hand, I wish I could see more of them, on the other, I’d rather not have anyone mess it up (shout out to our TOWL S2 truthers out there though ^^).
I honestly pity those who’ve imprisoned themselves in blood lineages and narrow 'legitimate' families, unable to grasp the gifts of community and found family in a freaking post apo zombie show. That must honestly be depressing in deed...
Whether we are called dramatic or aggressive, Richonners will keep calling this out, especially Black women who don’t even need to do anything to deserve those exhausted epithets in everyday life. We see the double standards, we see the fans defending their buddies’ racist takes, we see the apparently infinite plausible deniability and benefit of the doubt afforded to some, never to others. It's not bright, it's not new, and we know the game.
No wonder this fandom can feel so segregated sometimes.
Anyway, if you’d like for me to expand on this lmk, I’ll always have more to share. Thanks for reading.
Happy Shipping

What is your opinion on SuFin from a Swedish perspective?
I think I've talked about this in the past, but I don't mind going into it again with hopefully mentioning at least SOME things I haven't already mentioned.
Now, I should start with the fact I personally really like SuFin, but used to HATE the pairing in the past because how the fandom portrayed them both. Nowadays I mostly keep to my own corner and only really talk with a few people, so I've grown to love SuFin more based on canon and my own ideas for them.
To be honest I tend to focus more on the Hetalia characters as persons in general with a few historical references/trivia, but honestly, they have a lot of potential together.
Sweden is sweet and shy, but he has mischievous and rebellious sides as well. He also cares a lot about the people around him. (This can especially be seen with how he constantly defends Iceland and how he interacts with Sealand and Ladonia). Though his feelings for Finland is canon he also doesn't pressure Finland for an answer/feelings in return.
Meanwhile Finland is a caring and kind person, and he's not afraid of constantly standing up to people who finds Sweden intimidating. Finland is the person who constantly recognizes that while Sweden "looks scary", Sweden is also a very kind person.
Now, in canon, we actually don't know if Finland returns Sweden's romantic feelings, but it's obvious they still care a lot about each other a great deal.
With that said, if they became a couple I think it'd happen closer to modern time, and while I personally headcanon Finland loves Sweden back, I also think it took Finland a long time to decide if he even wanted a romantic relationship despite his own and Sweden's obvious feelings.
Now, I don't believe (hws) Sweden himself would ever do something to hurt (hws) Finland, but we also have to keep in mind the Swedish leadership and government haven't always been very kind to the Finnish people. Being in the Swedish Empire wasn't great for (irl) Finland - for a long time it was just better than being under one of the other countries in the area.
Anyway, at best there would be a weird power imbalance between (hws) Sweden and Finland if they had a romantic relationship somewhere between 1000-1900, even if Sweden himself never intends/intended for it - not to mention homosexuality wasn't even accepted or acknowledged at the time as something fairly common.
Most people hc Finland as Bi or Pan, so Finland could likely "pass" in the past by showing interest in women and ignoring any of his feelings towards non-binary people and/or men. But Sweden is canon homosexual, who only really have shown romantic interest for Finland in canon. It's more likely Sweden (tried to) bury his feelings deep, deep inside to not literally get killed by people for who he is.
Fans also (STILL) love to joke/bring up Sweden calling Finland his wife, but in canon Sweden only did it ONCE and then stopped when Finland protested against it. No matter what you think Sweden's reason was for calling Finland his wife, he stopped after Finland told him No.
I repeat, Sweden STOPPED.
He respects and respected Finland. Sweden listened when Finland said he didn't want to be called "wife".
So yes, I think they'd work really well together and have a sweet and loving relationship - but it would take a long time for them to make anything official.
We have a LOT canon moments between them. Everything from them adopting Hanatamago together, Sweden getting kids, to them constantly visiting each other, and Finland constantly defending Sweden from people who finds his looks intimidating - just to mention a few things.
Honestly, they'd probably be an "inofficial couple" for YEARS before they became official, but they'd get there eventually. Through both good and bad they've been there for each other for +1000 years at this point.
They're nations, and they can afford to take it slow.

I’ve been seeing similar anon ask on this page so I wanted to chime in, but I generally don’t get why some radfem go after people for shaving and wearing make up more than they critic being in a heterosexual relationship.
Like yeah that stuff is pushed by the patriarchy too, but honestly someone who shaves for whatever reason but is celebrate / trying to lead a separatist life, seems like they’re doing a better job than the feminists who critique the beauty industry on their blogs till the cows come home, but still choose to partner with men. I don’t understand how someone can repeat the phrase “ feminism is a liberation movement “ but then turn around and have a husband / boyfriend. How are you “ liberating “ yourself here ? Women on here pass around that one joke line from the SCUM manifesto about men wading through shit if they think they’ll get sex at the end of it ( paraphrasing here I don’t remember the full line) but some how don’t put 2 and 2 together with their male partners and their tolerance of their feminist beliefs? It just seems like a mental block. Like it a justification they tell themselves. How can you make fun of “libfems” talking about the 4bt/6b4t ( is that the correct acronym?) movements and the supporting it when talking about their male partners in the same breath, when these radfems are doing the same thing ?how are you going to have a tag on your blog called “dump him” but not apply those standards to yourself ? Do you not see the irony ? If pick better men is bullshit, then surely you must understand that you are not better than the average woman and her ability to discern because you perceive your standards to be higher. Or does that only apply when conservatives are harassing“ libfems” with the phrase?
Why do you think it’s a running gag in media / even irl sometimes, that your average house wife was a bra burning feminist in the 70s but the dropped it as soon as they married? Hell even Dworking had all that shit going on with her life. It’s weird to me how there’s older women out there who still wear make up, shave etc, but got divorced and choose not to date / marry again and instead focus on their family / friends, who are doing a better job at this so called separatist thing than the self titled radfems here. My occasional shaved leg hair is a betrayal to the movement but your male partner isn’t ? Why is that ? Am I really the brainwashed one here ?
And look, I understand it just such being faced with the idea of living a life and never having a romantic partner, I’m a lesbian I’ve grappled with that since puberty. It’s not easy I won’t lie. And I understand why you’d choose that over the cause. Hell I would too. I think many of us would. I don’t fault anybody, but the point is, lesbian, bisexual, and heterosexual all have different things they’ll need to give up for the movement if they want to see progress. Neither is a better or worse sacrifice. It’s about rising to the needs of the movement, not bending it to fit your definition. And before it gets brought up, no this isn’t some ideological purity thing, see it more as a “ you told me you’re someone who feeds the poor but I don’t see you at any soup kitchens ever” thing. Like if have no problem with most libfems / older women who do this, and it’s because they don’t go around called themselves the better/ strong / more serious feminists,
I just don’t understand why we can’t talk about the elephant in the room. Some of you aren’t radfems and that’s okay. You don’t have to be , just dump the label. I’m not even a radfem either, I just have the common sense and decency to not use labels that don’t apply to me. It’s not bullying to expect you to follow through with the political beliefs of the label you’ve adopted. I’m just confused and fed up with the hypocrisy that plagues this space, and I don’t even go here half the time ! I can’t image what it’s like to just be here constantly... it must suck.
I’m actually hoping this ask gets a bit big, because I do want to hear the other sides . I genuinely am confused on how one could essentially double think themselves on a concept that’s pretty straight forward when it comes to women’s liberation.
But hey maybe that just me being one of those evil exclusionary lesbians I keep hearing so much about.
go off 👑

rating record of ragnarok characters /10, because i can.
DISCLAIMER: i’m only rating the characters based off what the manga & anime has portrayed. i’ve done little to no research on these people themselves, which is why i don’t condone anything immoral that they’ve done. this was written before the release of chapter 73+
a/n: i think i wanna do this for every anime + genshin & val. PLS WATCH IT & LMK IF YOU GUYS LIKE IT. also i dont care abt grammatical and/or punctual errors, this is a shit post
MANGA SPOILER WARNING!!
THOR: first of all, he’s so fucking hot. his smile caught me so off guard tho, i kinda just stood there watching the screen, baffled. not much character to him, he’s just hot. 7/10
LU BU: i’m chinese, i literally feel so happy when i see chinese characters. biased, but definitely a plus. he, just like thor, has little to no character. first character i called hot, is hot, but there are hotter characters. (what, i am not talking abt hermes wdym?) 7/10
HERMES: 10/10. no explanation. my man right there. i literally scream & cream every time i see him. why is he so fine. not a single panel or clip where he looks bad. pls eat me out, sir i beg. i will serve you. ONE CHANCE. JUST ONE?? i’m in love with him. who needs real men or women when hermes.
GOLL: she is SO ANNOYING. her eng & jp voice are both annoying asl. she’s that one character, that exists in mostly every anime, used to explain background info & battle info on other characters. brunhilde is too nice on her. she reminds me of when i first saw yachi (haikyuu) on screen. yachi, too, was annoying. but i grew to love her🫶. 1/10
BRUNHILDE: SHES SO HOT. ATE. SHE ALDNAHDISKZ. yeah, what else is there to say? 8/10
APHRODITE: she truly lives up to her version in the greek mythology. hottest woman/goddess alive. ate. her boobs, i want to squish them & bury my face in them. WHEN IS IT MY TURN TO HOLD THEM? 8/10
ZEUS: idgaf what anyone says, he’s not hot. not even his younger self. he looks like mirio (mha) turned netero (hxh). love his character tho. the eyes scared me at first. he’s hilarious. 5/10
ADAM: my friend, the one who recommended snv to me, told me he’d be more my type. he was, minus the fact that’s he literally butt fucking naked. nice ass cheeks tho. def pretty boy, his wife is hot too. i want her more😋. his line abt fighting for his children made me cry. should’ve won. i say, let hermes be uncleless & fatherless. 7/10
POSEIDON: he was fs the blueprint for adam. anywho, yk hes fine. SOOO FINE. meowing for him. he doesn’t beat hermes tho. nobody beats hermes. well, look wise at least. it was rlly hard choosing who to root for in this fight. that’s a lie, i was always on humanity’s side. sad he died:( 9/10. -1 for being a little, arrogant, narcissistic, egotistical bitch. 8/10
SASAKI KOJIRO: see, zeus coulda been hot like him at that old age. man aged like fine wine. character was a W. hot, determined, good character, funny. what else can you want from a man? 8/10
HERACLES: disappointed. so disappointed. he looked better in the disney ver. this fight was so boring for me. you’re telling me i’m supposed to watch the fight instead of ogling at hot characters? no. character was okay. 6/10
JACK THE RIPPER: massive L. not supporting a murderer. next. 0/10
SHIVA: hot from the beginning. 4 arms? do what you want to me, sir. 3 WIVES? tengen (kny), is that you bro?😭 anywho, he’s cocky, def my type irl LMAO. i wouldn’t let that slide tho.. his wives are hot too😋 8/10
RAIDEN TAMEEMON: i paid very little attention to this fight. don’t remember his backstory too well (i read this fight not even 24 hours ago btw). not that good looking, not ugly either. i liked his character, upset he took 3 of shiva’s arms. why 3? why not 2? he got 1 arm left. 4/10
BUDDHA: THATS MY GOD RIGHT THERE. ate. i’m not religious, and neither are my family, but they are buddhist, so by default, i am too. i personally think buddhism is the best religion, but we’re not gonna get into that. i have very valid reasons btw. love his personality, love his looks. massive W. ofc he fights for humanity. he’s a walking W. 9/10
ZEROFUKU: precious. definition of deserved better. what made me sad, is how he was written during the fight. he’s consistently hitting, with little to no strategy. his backstory is sad, but his battle exp was written poorly. also the random ass monster possessing took me tf out. 7/10
HADES: fine ass mf. he’s so different from how he’s usually portrayed, both look & personality wise. the first W netflix has pulled. he’s hot and responsible? persephone, we can share him babes. also, the relationship between him & poseidon made me SOB. like actually. hurt so bad i made an angst edit. 9/10
QIN SHI HUANG: first off, i don’t do research on my own ethnicity’s history. i didn’t even know who tf lu bu was. my family knew tho. with that aside, PROUD TO BE CHINESE❗️ he’s so fine. SO FINE. the way his character was written, was wonderful. i loved the fight between him & hades. the tension & the lengths they went to try & win. 9/10
BEELZEBUB: his backstory was so tragic. what i didn’t like, was how they rushed his & lilith’s story. like, they kinda randomly said i love you to each other. i’d love to see their adventures tgt. lilith, leave that emo thing, and come be w me. he’s fine too. i rlly like how they introduced him. 8/10
NIKOLA TESLA: i don’t have much of an opinion on him. very chatty, which i don’t actually mind. i guess we’ll have to wait for more chapters to release before i form an opinion on him. 5/10
ODIN: the hair bro. THE HAIR. i keep forgetting he exists, but i’m not his biggest fan. not bad, but i prefer his sons. i do like the theory of him being a traitor. he looks the part. 5/10
LOKI: honestly, i liked him a lot in the beginning, but now, it’s like he’s kinda on the side. cute & hot. thor is the better brother tho. speaking of, how tf are they even brothers? moving on, i like his personality. i like his shocked, mixed w angry, facial expressions more. 7/10
ARES: the hair again. very stylish, i do like it, but it took me out. walking around looking like a school girl. i don’t like how he tries to be a know-it-all w hermes, when he literally relies on him for info. but that’s my man for you. his expressions are SO WELL. 6/10
ADAMAS: i was awfully confused, at first, when there were 3 older brothers to zeus. usually, it’s just hades, poseidon & zeus. not his biggest fan, his character was rushed. 4/10
BONUSES
JESUS: i was very happy to see jesus. i’m not sure why, i just was. why is he the only character, THAT LOOKS LIKE THEMSELVES? 9/10
LU BU SIMP AGENCY: 10/10. i don’t need to say anymore. W cheng gong. love that man.
FORSETI: what a loser. he was so annoying. 2/10
EVE: mother? mommy? whatever. MEOW. 9/10
SASAKI SIMP AGENCY: love them as well. 10/10. walking Ws all around.
i don’t think i’m missing anyone, am i?

Issues I have with ikevamp
That I’m venting here because they won’t leave my skull
*Content warning, we’re talking about men in the past, they did some bad stuff*
Part 1, historical inaccuracies
I’m I history nut so this really gets to me, since I know the deep details of these peoples lives.
The timeline, ok so the game takes place in 18th France, correct me if I’m wrong but I think it is in the second empire (1852-1870) considered there is a noble class, yet you can clearly see the Eiffel Tower which was completed in 1889, there is no mention of the 1889 exposition, so it must be after the tower had become permanent, by then the 3rd republic was around, if we are in the republic the Count wouldn’t be called that by the npcs at all the parties he goes to, no matter which we’re in, NOBODY mentions Napoleon III at, NOT EVAN HIS UNCLE (WHOSE SOMEHOW BECAME CASS CONSCIOUS!)
How does the time travel work, example, Dazai died in 1948, his plan was seemingly to wait until he’s born in 1909 then kill himself as a baby, but then he decides to use the magic door, what are the consequences of 2 Dazais existing at once or him erasing himself from history, he’s a pretty important literary figure, does someone else replace him or does the space time continuum collapse?? Is the future Vlad sees set in stone or can it be changed, just copy someone else’s time travel bit!!!
So straight up these guys aren’t who they say they are, we’ll go through 1 by 1
Napoleon- doesn’t mention he left the love of his life to marry a girl 20 years his junior (like think how interesting it would be if he’s conflicted about love cuz he had to give it up for political reasons) -that scene where MC talks about all the ‘good’ that he did in Europe, like committing war crimes against the Spanish and Portuguese and Eastern Europeans, being a coloniser, killing the slaves he freed when they asked for more rights, killing thousands of men in a meaningless war (ligit H*tler vibes)
Arthur- goofy irl, literally believed in fairies, had 5 children and married twice but he never mentions any of this, he cheated on his first wife while she was dying of TB, he was a liberal unionist (tldr didn’t like Irish people) he was anti-immigration, might have committed fraud. We’ll get to the other issues I have with him.
Leonardo- fruity as hell, vegetarian
Mozart- they got his character completely wrong, the guy was a complete man child, vain, broke, by the end of his life his career fell off (Beethoven better composer), in love with his cousin 🤢, had a s*at fetish 🤢🤢🤢. The hole Salieri thing didn’t happen.
Vincent- they made him too mentally stable, I’m all for him being meek, but the guy had serious issues that they ignore, he ate paint thinner, was rejected by his both crushes, WHY DOES HE HAVE BOTH EARS, DID IT GROW BACK, THEY SHOULD HAVE LEFT HIM WITH ONLY ONE, also he should be ginger smh. Oh yeah and they never mentioned the s*ecide attempt.
Theo- doesn’t mention his wife, or son, WHO HE NAMED AFTER VINCENT, his wife is the person responsible for Vincent’s work not being completely forgotten, was way nicer irl.
Issac- tbh hotter irl, low key ace, maybe a fruit, kinda mean, the only thing they got right was the major virgin vibes.
Jean- WHY MAN!??!! Even if the didn’t want a lesbian route, they could have gone with any other guy from the 100 years war, Edward black prince, idk WHY GENDER BEND ONE OF THE MOST PROMINENT WOMEN IN HISTORY, I’m fine with the delusional trans dude lie, but they say that he was a guy all along, THEN WHAT WAS THE POINT OF HIM BEING BURNT AT THE STAKE IF HE WASN’T CROSS DRESSING???!!! was he double cross dressing??? This is the worst of them all, give me the girl boss we deserve (revers fate)
Dazai- not depressed enough imo, he was a leftist, again missing wife, their were two su*ecide attempts, guy lived through fire bombing, had a few children that he is fine to erase from existence.
Shakespeare- probably a fruit, again never mentioned his wife and kids, btw the way he talks is annoying, some people don’t think he’s real.
Faust- NOT A REAL PERSON.
Sanson- too young, this guys is 67, really liked the guillotine, just saw execution as his job didn’t really care, had a wife and kids.
Vlad- Ok is he supposed to be Vlad THE impaler? Cuz he’s not evil enough, or is he a Dracula reference, cuz he can’t dance that dance either, why did they call him Vlad if he isn’t a blood thirsty war criminal.
Count- not enough history to work with.
Part 2, problematic moments
So I ha have seen some posts on the low key misogynistic way the MC is written and treated and there are a lot of issues wit white washing history so another trigger warning ⚠️
Misogyny- the MC of this game is not the best, I know she’s a self insert but she has no backbone at all. She lacks agency I’m most of the routes, like the MC getting kidnapped is a troupe in all these games, but Emma can escape on her own, Kate has ⚽️, even Alice had more depth to her, seems the only thing MC can do is cry and wait to be saved, I swear she gets kidnapped once in every route, I think they could have given her more character to work with. Another thing, but Jean being a man is bad, really bad, she’s a feminist icon but they made her a man, it’s sought of saying that women aren’t capable of this so she had to have actually been a man.
Handling of SA, important one here, I’m ok with the flirty guy, but I really hate Arthur, he doesn’t just flirt with her in chapter 1 he assaults her and acts like he did her a service, and she just forgives him!?! I’m fine with a guy that sleeps around, I like Jin and Nokto fine, but the way Arthur talks about women, always calling them Birds (if they were going for English slang it doesn’t work cuz he doesn’t have a cockney accent) or worse Skirts, it’s dehumanising, and shows that to him women are vehicles for sexual pleasure and aren’t on an equal level of understanding. There are smaller parts to, Leo kisses her without consent, the Count hides the truth from her, idk but Theo calling her a ‘hound’ sounds like he’s calling her something else…
Minor points on classism, I’m not expecting the communist manifesto, but all these games aren’t very good at dealing with class deviation. In Vlad’s route, the orphan boy thinks he can impress the rich girl, this is the 19th century, capitalism is on the rise, but there’s no comment about how it’s impossible. The little school Napoleons runs is strange, considering he was in a position where benefited from poor people existing and staying poor, ( side note, he’s teaching them swordsmanship when ww1 is right around the corner, just saying they won’t need it in the military) called MC out as a social climber, these games sought of depict the past through rosé tinted glasses, there’s only passing reference to how fucked people were in the past, Also all the historical inaccuracies above tie to this.
Anyway love to hear some other opinions, (I started playing this game before my transition and have always thought it it was wired, it’s my personal least favourite just cuz I couldn’t really get into any of the guys, my OC ended up as a Carmilla reference so….)
I have seen a post talking about some of the issues before so that’s what got me to write this out, if you disagree or want to add anything I’m all ears 👂
Thanks for reading 💗💖💖💕💓💗🥰🥰🥰❤️✨✨✨✨❤️⭐️⭐️⭐️

**HAREM MASTER IS IN SEARCH FOR NEW WIFES**
Please read whole thing before dming
(Based on pregnancy fetish, skip if you don't have it)
Let me introduce you to my project. For almost a year me and my female friends were role playing a slice-of-life-like harem on a little private server, where I play as the Master, rich and powerful mysterious man, who's name is unknown. He holds 9 (at the moment, each of them volunteered) wifes in his mansion for getting them pregnant over and over again, for reasons you could know if you dare to ask. He is carrying, affectionate and sparing, yet strict and demanding to them, he would spare his own life to defend them and their children, but also sees them and their wombs as his property. If you see yourself in this scenario, please be welcome! As a master, I promise you safety and well being in my walls.
**QUICK INFO**
The game is 70% kinks and 30% plot, everybody has established characters, back story and long history of communicating with each other both as characters and person to person, over time we developed our characters greatly. You of course can flirt and interact with any member of the harem.
Because of the fact that most of the people are busy those days and to add something new, I search for few new members. We are a pretty open minded and supportive group of people and at some point just actually started calling ourselves a family. So, if you are open, you are welcome to become a part of it^^. Plus, we plan on doing a little restart of the plot and characters soon, so it's an ideal time to join.
**JOIN ONLY IF YOU ARE:**
- AFAB woman IRL
- into men
- into women or don't mind being around them without getting envy
- carrier
*Into/ okay with:*
- some smut

- group sex
- dd/lg/ master x slave/ owner x pet
- being submissive
**I WOULD PREFER IF YOU:**
- are from European time zones
- can be relatively active and involved
- make detailed replies
- don't mind talking outside the rp with other members
(continues on pic)
**KINKS YOU MIGHT FIND HERE:**
- any pregnant related kink, from birth to hyper. I've got a lot of love to share for all of those~
- concensual noncon
- light bdsm, spanking

A (very interesting) Chainsaw Man focused Japanese language learning journey that may or may not have been useless. But it was taxing.
I was telling @aki-47 that I reread Yoshida's coffee date chapter (103) and the first Makima chapter (1) in (my very limited) Japanese, and I realized both used kimi to refer to Denji, specifically in katakana (キミ). That seemed interesting to me. I was trying to make a list with some facts about Yoshida's speech pattern, as one does when one currently has no boyfriend and hyper-fixates on the octopus boy.
But this kimi thing, specially because it was in katakana, took over my brain. According to google, using kimi in katakana might make it look particularly more boyish, rough, informal or friendly, but also condescending and fake. In contrast with kanji (君), which is the regular usage. Or hiragana (きみ), that makes words seem more feminine / cute / elegant.
I've come around and read more chapters, and actually, kimi in katakana is most likely just a Fujimoto aesthetic choice*, because it's everywhere and so many characters use it (or… eeeeeveryone is shady/trying to be doubly condescending. Which.........). Reze too.
It's also not that uncommon in shonen to use more katakana just because it looks cool, and I searched around in some different manga and kimi in katakana is not that uncommon as I was initially lead to believe by the internet. Once again, probably because katakana looks cool/with emphasis. But I didn't know that because this is the first time I've tried to do this sort of stuff.
Another thing is that Kimi and Kun have the same kanji (君). So maybe, Fujimoto just wants to use both kimi and kun for Denji and tries to give contrast to the speech bubble so it's not confusing. And that's it, not much to think about.
However. Even if the whole katakana usage is pure aesthetic.
Kimi on its own is a very interesting pronoun. It's an informal you. It can read as affectionate, but rude or assuming if you use it with strangers. It's a pronoun you can use with close people or with subordinates.
IRL it's a word that's almost never used, except in very specific contexts; because bosses use it and Japanese people tend to omit pronouns regardless. It's mostly used by males. It already can be read as condescending (more so in katakana, then). You have to be confident that the other person is OK with you calling them that. Male characters might use it with other boys to denote friendliness.
It's not common, however, according to google, that women use kimi. Even in fiction. Women use it in songs, but it's not that often that a girl calls her boyfriend kimi, even in a story (though i don't watch too much shojo, do girls ever call guys kimi?). Again, more often than not, it's used by men to women.
A wife calls her husband anata, the husband calls his wife kimi. That's apparently a famous context for this word. Correct me if I'm wrong.
To summarize: In the right context, it's romantic/friendly; it denotes a deep bond. In the wrong context, it's condescending; it denotes a feeling of superiority.
The fact both Makima and Reze use it for Denji then (both in katakana, too), it's a bit of a subversion, when it comes to a heterosexual romantic relationship. Then, supposedly, they are taking the lead in the relationship.** But we all know that they had hidden agendas, and in one way or another, were above Denji.
Makima was his boss so she was on the clear by calling him that, though Makima is not particularly polite with her subordinates in general (haha). Reze only uses it a handful of times, she mostly calls him Denji-kun; which is a more polite and cute way to call him. Yoshida is sort of whatever using kimi, because Yoshida is male and he's a fujobait character. Both Makima and Yoshida use Denji-kun and kimi alternatingly.
(I haven't re read all the manga in Japanese, and I probably won't. But Angel and the Future Devil both call Aki kimi too, in a way that feels more on the condescending route, of course. Also in katakana. It wouldn't surprise me if more devils called humans キミ.
Yoru calls Asa omae (お前), which is rude because of how direct it sounds. She also used it with Yoshida, along side calling him "hey, man". Fami refers to Asa by name, as Asa-chan).
But anyway. The fact Denji's (female) love interests call him that specific pronoun.... Welp. Look Denji, no worries, you'll get a better Dom sooner or later.
And I think in general, devils calling humans キミ is telling.
Funny language stuff.
Asa calls Denji anta (アンタ, informal/rude, shortened version of anata).
*There's some interesting usage with Denji's first person pronoun, Ore (俺,オレ) in the case of Denji/Asa and Denji/Yoshida. It's always in katakana with Yoshida, probably because it's an informal male context, (and Denji doesn't like him that much). In the rooftop meeting, Denji used ore in kanji, till Asa pissed him off, and he revealed he was chainsaw man with ore in katakana (which also works as a Japanese ALL CAPS). Just before Asa asked him out on a date, ore was in katakana when he spoke. In the aquarium date, ore was in kanji. Katakana=rough, Kanji=polite.
**Himeno also called Aki キミ. At least in the Easy Revenge flashback in chap 34. I don't remember from the anime if she does it regularly, and she probably used it with Denji too, but I didn't reread any other chapters with Himeno. If my memory serves, she calls him Denji-kun more often than not.
This was supposed to be about Yoshida who is in like, ten chapters top. Why did I do this? Help.

Halloween 2023 marathon: 24-25
Time for a Christmas horror double feature!!
Home for the Holidays (dir. John Llewyn Moxey, 1972)
One rainy Christmastime, sisters Jo, Alex, Chris, and Freddie (Jill Haworth, Eleanor Parker, Sally Field, and Jessica Walter) reluctantly meet with their elderly father Benjamin (Walter Brennan) for the first time in nine years. Estranged after their father's adultery led their mother to suicide, their father now suspects he's being poisoned by his former mistress/current wife Elizabeth (Julie Harris) and wants his children to kill her before she can kill him-- or any of them-- in order to get her hands on the estate. But is the killer who Benjamin thinks?
I hadn't heard of this one until it was recommended to me by a friend. It's a TV movie of the week from the early 1970s with quite the star-studded cast: you have Eleanor Parker, Sally Field, Jessica Walter, and Jill Haworth playing the most unconvincing sisters imaginable (not a one of them is made to seem even remotely alike), Walter Brennan playing their father in what would be among his last screen roles, and Julie Harris as our possible villain. It's essentially another variation on The Bat or The Spiral Staircase: a group of characters suspect each other of murder in a creepy old house, only now it's the 70s, so everyone's a fashion trainwreck. I wouldn't call this a classic or even much of a slasher, but it is entertaining in its sheer 70s campiness and the central mystery kept me guessing.
An additional fun fact: the screenplay was written by Joseph Stefano, who adapted Psycho for Alfred Hitchcock.
Black Christmas (dir. Bob Clark, 1974)
During Christmas break, a sorority house is plagued by an obscene caller who identifies himself only as "Billy." Little do they know Billy is hiding in the attic, but the women are preoccupied with drinking and partying. In the case of Jess Bradford (Olivia Hussey), her holidays are spent dealing with a selfish boyfriend (Keir Dullea) and an unwanted pregnancy. When one of the sorority sisters goes missing, they undertake a search, not realizing her corpse is holed up in the attic with Billy. Will they be able to sniff out Billy before too many victims pile up?
One of the greatest slashers of all time, Black Christmas gets better every time I see it. My favorite horror movies tend to blend humor with chills and Black Christmas is masterly at this. The characters are irreverent and sassy, though hardly perfect people (as much as I love Margot Kidder as the hard-drinking, trash-talking Barb, there is no way I'd get on with Barb IRL), making them feel more real and therefore making the peril they're in more consequential.
Atmosphere is also a big strength of the movie. The wintry gloom of the setting is palpable. The way the holiday lights are so dominated by the nighttime darkness sets the tone so perfectly.
Jess and Billy are two of my favorite horror movie characters ever. Jess is everything I want in a protagonist: vulnerable but smart and courageous. I love how she never backs down when it comes to sticking to her guns and I like how good a friend she is to the other women in the sorority. How she ever ended up with her idiot boyfriend Peter is beyond me-- what a shitwit.
Jess is one of those characters where I'm left wondering what becomes of her after the events of the movie. She's passionate and driven, unwilling to compromise on what she plans to do with her life. Just ugh--- MARRY ME JESS.
As for Billy, he is just creepy as hell. I subscribe to the idea that the best horror villains are mysterious. We don't know Billy's backstory save for his reanactment of what happened to "little Agnes." He's an aggressive misogynist, making disgusting sexual comments in cartoonish voices over the phone. However, he can't take what he dishes out: when Barb tells him off, he stops with the silly voices and coldly says, "I'm going to kill you." It's such a chilling moment; it never fails to unnerve me.
The ending scene is incredibly creepy too. For all its humor, this is one bleak movie, with an ending that strongly emphasizes the eternal presence of evil in the world, a fairy tale kind of evil that lurks in the shadows.
God, I love this movie.
Details that stuck out to me this time:
Pretty much anytime the film cuts to Billy's attic antics, we get that eerie piano crash sound. When cutting to Peter smashing up the piano after the failed recital, we hear that same sound first, creating a subtle link between Billy and Peter. That never really hit me until this viewing.
2. Actually, let me talk about the music. It's such a vital part of the atmosphere, and I love how it eschews overheated melodramatics for an unsettling piano score.
3. I always wondered why Jess fell for Peter in the first place. We only ever see him looking surly, and he's super selfish. However, I noticed Jess's description of Peter to other characters-- "he's an artist," "he's normally so gentle," "he's high-strung"-- paint a picture of a more ambitious, passionate guy who probably made a striking first impression. Even though it's clear Jess does not love Peter anymore (she says "I know" when he says "I love you" on the phone in an early scene), I imagine part of her is still clinging to the man she once fell for before he started changing, even though rationally she knows the relationship is over for her. @mygreatadventurehasbegun What do you think?

You mentioned something about Macron's wife being trans... Is that true? That reminded me of when people used to say Lady Gaga was actually Lord Gaga (aka a man)
I just replied to an ask and talked about her 👀
But yes s/he is trans and started dating Emmanuel Macron (France current president) when he was 14 and she a 39 y.o married woman with a daughter. Her husband got totally blindsided and thought the reason Macron came to their house so often (she was his theater teacher) was bc he was dating his daughter (who's the same age as him 💀)
This scandal got revealed by a whistleblower called Natacha Rey who's did a 3 hours+ exposé, and Brigitte Macron dragged her to court for transphobia, which is very troubling bc if what Natacha Rey was untrue, she would be rather attacked for diffamation of something like that. 👀
I've seen that Candace Owens started to talk about this story which gave it more visibility globally but I lowkey hate to see rightoids moids praise her for that when nobody says the name of Natacha Rey who's the one who did all the investigation and is not a right wing grifter à la Candace Owens.
It would be hard to elaborate on the whole story but to sum it up :
Brigitte sexually abused Macron when he was 14 y.o
Brigitte said her old identity (as a boy) was her brother. The problem is that nobody ever found him (because he didn't exist, it was Brigitte old identity), and the Elysée (the french presidential house) falsified documents to make it seems he did
Brigitte is allegedly even older than her public age.
Brigitte has a past of mingling with pedophile rings of the infamous Pasteur Doucé (killed by the french intelligence because he knew too much)
She's friends with the Rothschilds (IYKYK)
Natacha Rey investigated the photographs of Brigitte (given by her cabinet) from when she was younger. Turns out they were pictures of her own daughter digitally manipulated to make them look older. There are literally no pictures of Brigitte before her 40s which is allegedly the time she transitioned
Trump allegedly has evidence of extremely compromising/disturbing info about Brigitte and Macron sexual mores...
Brigitte is Macron handler (MK ultra style) which explains why she's extremely involved in his political decisions despite not having any electoral mandate herself
I don't think Gaga has been man. The transapocalypse is a tinfoil lane championned by incels who've never seen a woman naked irl & think a woman who's not shaped in a perfect 8 hourglass figure is a man. I definitely think there are more trans women in the mainstream entertainment industry than we think, but a lot of transapocalypse tinfoils are stupid.
The only legit trans suspicion IMO are Paris Hilton, Michele Obama.... I'm on the fence for Serena Williams.

Children of the Future: Shadows of the Past
Chapter 10: The Battle Over Spade
Hiya guys! So…it’s been a while since I’ve updated this series as well and I apologize! I’ve just been distracted and dealing with creative burnout as well as IRL things, so this just got pushed to the back burner (even though this chapter has been mostly complete since September). This chapter is pretty short compared to the others, but hopefully the next one will be longer, and I hope you all enjoy~!
Word Count: 3,344
Warnings: Violence, Swearing
————
Yuno and Ralph stood outside on one of the castle walls and just stared up at the sky, it was completely dark save for the bright full moon that hung above their heads. There wasn’t a single cloud or star in the sky, making the darkness look even more unnerving and odd than it already was. Obviously a mage had done this, a pretty powerful one at that, but the question was… who had done it?
“ Yuno!” He heard Neva call from beside him, and he turned to face her as she approached. She had changed out of her dress and was now wearing an outfit similar to the one she wore when she was a member of the Golden Dawn, showing that she was ready for a potential battle.
“ What’s going on? Why is the moon out?” Neva asked as she walked up to him, he shrugged a bit and shook his head.
“ We don’t know,” Yuno told her simply as his gaze drifted from the sky to his wife. “ Obviously it isn’t good, and it means that something’s coming…but the question is who and what.”
“ Devils?” Neva asked, her voice soft and tinted with confusion. “ Or maybe Angels that were leftover from Lucius? But neither of those makes any sense, especially since we wiped them all out 20 years ago.” She muttered as she heard her husband sigh from beside her.
“ I know, but look at Herz, she was hiding for a long time before Liebe and Asta found her. So maybe there were more Devils hiding, biding their time, waiting for the perfect opportunity to present itself to them.” Yuno explained, and he watched Neva’s eyes dance around in thought for a few moments.
“ You have a point, especially since that’s similar to what Zagred did with the Elves back then. He waited for thousands of years for the right time, person, and place to appear so his plan would come to fruition.” Neva muttered as she stared at the vast darkness that surrounded the kingdom. “ So, do you think we’re dealing with Zagred level devils? Or Zogratis level ones?”
“ Both,” Yuno answered as his amber eyes narrowed. “ The one that cast this spell is at least a High ranking one, but whether it’s the leader or not, I don’t know.” Neva nodded before she noticed Yuno turn to face the darkness as well.
The surrounding air was cold, tense, and anxious. No one knew what to expect, they couldn’t see very well beyond the castle walls, and could only rely on the moonlight and their mana sensing, which meant they were all basically blind. No one moved, no one breathed, they just stood there waiting, ready for an attack.
But the silence of the night was suddenly broken by loud screams, shrieks, and yells floating up to the castle from the town below them. Colored lights began to flash like fireworks as spells were cast, and booms rang out and echoed all around the area as buildings were destroyed. Yuno’s eyes widened and he turned to Ralph.
“ Already on it, sir!” Ralph quickly said as he gathered some men and women around them and ordered them to go to the town and see what was happening. They saluted and quickly used their brooms and magics to fly down to the town.
The cries, shouts, and spells continued to float up to the castle, and with every passing minute they grew louder…and louder…and louder. Before they suddenly ceased. There were no more lights flashing, no sounds of screams, it was dead silent save for the whistle of the ice-cold wind that swept through.
“ Report, somebody report! What’s going on down there?!” Ralph shouted into his communication device, only receiving silence in response.
Yuno and Neva looked at each other for a moment, their hearts pounding anxiously in their chests, what the hell was going on…? If the battle was over, and they had won, then shouldn’t the Mage Defense Force members be contacting them or be on their way back to the Castle by now?
“ C-Captain…” A quiet voice suddenly floated through the communication device, their voice sounding terrified and raspy. “ They’re… Coming…”
“ Who’s coming? Report!” Ralph shouted into the device, his voice full of worry and concern, but the device went dead silent again. He turned to look at his King, Queen, and the other Mage Defense Force members. His eyes full of uncertainty, and with the slightest bit of fear.
And suddenly they all felt it.
A large wave of various forms of Mana suddenly began to rush towards them. They all turned to face the darkness, and when they did all they saw were hundreds, maybe even thousands, of glowing eyes rushing towards the castle.
“ Everyone, get ready!” Yuno shouted, and they did as he ordered, and everyone pulled out their grimoires, just as he did. He looked at his wife out of the corner of his eye. “ You need to leave, take the kids and get to Clover.”
“ Not a chance, I’m going to stay right here and help you,” Neva told him seriously as she pulled her grimoire out and held it at her side. “ I need my husband, our children need their father, and this kingdom needs its King. This place is our home, and I’ll be damned if I let a few devils take it from us.” She added, making Yuno sigh, why was this woman so stubborn at the worst of times?!
As he opened his mouth to argue, suddenly a hundred or so spells suddenly came flying at the Castle wall, making everyone duck, shout, and use their defensive spells to try to block the onslaught. Yuno quickly pulled his wife down behind the wall and used his wind magic to try his best to shield them from as many spells as he could.
“ I’m not arguing, Neva! This isn’t a request, this is an order from your former Captain and King! You will leave and take the kids with you, and if you don’t leave willingly I’ll have Ralph drag you there, do you understand?!” Yuno shouted, his voice angry and serious, he rarely raised his voice at Neva. But when he did, that meant he was no longer arguing, and that she either listened to him and did as he said, or he would make her listen.
Neva stared into his amber eyes. He was worried, scared, and uncertain. From the amount of spells that were being thrown at them, from the large amount of mana they were sensing, this wasn’t going to be an easy or short battle, lives were likely to be lost. He needed to get his family away now, he needed them to be safe and alive, even if he wasn’t himself.
She swallowed the lump in her throat as she suddenly reached out and cupped his face in her hands, taking him by surprise, but also making him soften his gaze. He reached up and placed his hands on top of hers, giving them a gentle squeeze.
‘Promise me that you’ll stay alive, and that you’ll come get us once the battle is over?’ Her purple eyes whispered to his, pleading with him, but she saw a sad and hesitant look appear in his amber eyes.
‘You know I can’t promise you that…’ They told her, but instead of being angry or sad, she smiled warmly and lovingly at him.
‘Promise me anyway.’ She watched his eyes widen in surprise, before they softened again, and became warm and loving as well.
‘Alright, I promise.’ His eyes promised hers, and she nodded before placing a quick kiss against his lips.
“ I’ll see you soon.” She whispered against his lips before placing one last, longing kiss against his lips before she turned and ran down the wall, using her Diamond magic to shield her from the spells that were being thrown at her. Yuno slowly stood up as he watched her run further and further away from him, his gut telling him that it would be a long time before he would see her or their children again.
—-----
Neva ran down the corridors, dodging the servants and maids that ran anxiously past her. The Castle was in absolute chaos, people were panicking and were grabbing as many of their belongings as they could, and others were huddled in the corners, too afraid to move. But she didn’t have any time to worry about them, right now she was trying to find her children and her mother-in-law.
“ Neva!” She suddenly heard someone shout behind her, and she quickly turned and saw that it was Ciel. She sighed in relief, at least she found one person she was looking for!
“ Ciel,” Neva shouted in relief as she ran up to her mother-in-law. “ Are you alright?”
“ I’m fine, but what’s going on? Are we under attack again?” Ciel asked, and sighed when Neva nodded. “ Where’s Yuno?”
“ He’s on the Castle wall with the other Mage Defense force members, he wants to try to keep them back as long as he can.” Neva said, and she watched Ciel nod slowly. “ Have you seen the kids?”
“ I haven’t. I think Miku’s in her room, but I haven’t seen Kya or Kito.” Ciel said softly, suddenly seeing the younger woman's eyes widen and fear seep into them slightly. “ But I’m sure they’re somewhere nearby, I’ll help you look for them.”
“ Thank you, Ciel,” Neva told the woman, her tone grateful, and the two quickly made a plan to find the children and, once they did, they would meet in the tunnels underneath the Castle and escape that way.
As the women parted, Neva couldn’t help but feel bad, because while she did want to get her children and mother-in-law to safety, she herself had no intention on leaving Spade. She was going to help her husband, and protect her home.
Neva continued running down the halls, shouting her children's names as she did. Her heart drumming rapidly in her ears, just where were they? If what Ciel said was correct, and Miku was indeed in her room, then that meant Neva needed to go all the way to the other side of the Castle. Her mind raced, the quickest way to get there would be through the courtyard in the center of the Castle, so that’s where she was headed.
As soon as she exited the Castle, she could hear spells being cast, shouts from the mages, and crashes as the wall and other buildings were hit by spells. The battle must’ve been in full swing by now, and she silently hoped everyone would be alright, mainly her husband. He was a strong and capable mage, so she knew he would be alright, but something in her gut told her this would be one of the most challenging battles he had ever faced.
“ Ah, you’re here, your Majesty,” A voice suddenly called from above, making Neva turn her head to face the direction the voice was coming from.
Standing perched on top of the highest point in the courtyard, being bathed in the bright moonlight, was the silhouette of a familiar woman. Whose dark hair floated around her in the wind, and her green eyes nearly seemed to glow with a strange coldness in them.
“ Freya? What are you doing here, shouldn’t you be on the front lines helping your King and the Mage Defense Force?” Neva asked, her tone confused and a bit harsh, and she frowned when Freya laughed.
“ Why would I go down there and help those insects when I’m on the winning side?” Freya asked, her head tilting slightly, and Neva’s frown deepened, and she could feel a burning hot anger begin to bubble up in her chest. “ And don’t call me ‘Freya’, I prefer being called Gremory.”
“ What…?”
“ You humans are fighting a losing battle, one that will only get progressively worse as the night goes on. So it would be better for you all to just give up now.” Gremory said, her tone cold, and Neva glared.
“ ‘You humans’? I should’ve known, you’re a Devil Host, aren’t you?” Neva asked as she slowly pulled out her grimoire, and Gremory chuckled.
“ You’re just as smart as people say you are,” She said, her voice having a hint of amusement. “ While yes, I once was a devil host, now I’m a lot more than that. I’ve given 100% of my heart, body, soul, and mind to the devil I made a contract with. So now, I guess you could consider me just a ‘devil’.”
Neva nearly scoffed, now it all made sense. How ‘Freya’ was able to climb the ranks so quickly, the ‘mysterious death’ of the former Commander in Chief, and why she rarely used any of her spells aside from a tracking spell or two.
“ So, you’re the one behind all of this? The attack, Kya going missing, it was all you?” Neva asked, her voice cold and seething in anger. She was trying to keep herself calm, so she wouldn’t get swept away by her emotions like when she was younger, she did not want to repeat the same mistake she made when fighting Zenon.
“ While I can’t take credit for either of those things, I will admit I did have a hand in them. I’m the one who covered Kya’s tracks and led you all on a wild goose chase, and I am the one responsible for this spell. But as for the army of 100,000 mages? That was all the King and Queen's doing.” Gremory said, and she watched in amusement as Neva’s eyes widened.
‘100,000 mages? King and Queen…?’ Neva’s mind repeated those words over and over again, if this ‘King’ and ‘Queen’ were powerful enough to recruit an army of that many mages, just how powerful were their underlings? Neva needed to let Yuno know, she needed to tell him that this was a fool’s errand and that he wasn’t going to be able to stop them! But Gremory jumped down from her perch, smirked at her, and slowly walked towards her.
“ Did you really think I told you all of that, so you could run off and tell your husband?” Freya asked, her brow quirked in irritation. “ I only told you all of this because I don’t intend on letting you leave this courtyard alive.” Neva suddenly chuckled, and created two Diamond daggers with her magic.
“ I had a feeling that was the case,” Neva said as a smirk appeared on her face and she got into her defensive stance, ready for an attack. “ But unfortunately for you, I don’t plan on dying here today. So looks like it’s going to be you who doesn’t leave this courtyard alive.” Neva added as a bright green glow suddenly appeared around the castle.
Yuno was using ‘Never Never-Land’.
Gremory suddenly laughed, and a Sickle in the shape of a moon appeared in her hand as she continued moving towards Neva.
“ You humans are so confident, I like that. But I wonder how long it’ll last, once we’re all done with you.”
—------
Booms rang out throughout the night, and in various parts of the Castle. Inside…outside…they were completely surrounded and inundated by these things. At first, everyone had been taken aback, as these weren’t monsters or devils attacking them, but instead were regular mages. Just like them.
But still, the people of the castle were determined to do their best. After all, they were fighting alongside their King, and they refused to let him down!
Yuno watched as the ‘mages’ were knocked back by his wind magic. No matter how many times he knocked them back, no matter how many he cut down, they still came at him. It was wave after wave of people.
“ Ah, I see even you are not immune to the passage of time, King of Spade Yuno Grinberryall.” A voice said, and without even looking to see who it was, Yuno waved his hand and used Star Magic: Quartile Flagellum to knock them away.
“ Dammit!” They swore as they narrowly dodged his spell. “ He may be a little more winded due to his age, but he’s still as powerful as he was decades ago!” They muttered under their breath before they watched Yuno disappear.
“ Where-?” The questioned in confusion before they felt something appear behind them, and when they turned they were face to face with Yuno in his Spirit of Boreas form.
“ How is he still so quick?!”
Without even blinking Yuno used the halberd made out of his wind magic and sliced the Devil down into the ground. Leaving a large crater, with the devil lying in the center.
“ Sheesh. You could at least give me a chance to attack!” The devil shouted as they tried to catch their breath, and Yuno, without saying a word, walked towards them.
“ H-Hey! Don’t you want to know why we’re here at least?!” They shouted as they tried to sit up, but Yuno walked up to them and pushed them back down with his boot.
“ I already know everything I need to know. You attacked my home, attacked my people, and attacked me and my family. That’s all I need to know.” He told the devil coldly, and he raised his halberd. But just before he could deal the final blow he felt another presence, and quickly turned to use the Spirit of Notos to block an oncoming spell.
“ Seriously Zepar? You had one job, and you couldn’t even do that right?” Another voice said as they ran up to them. Zepar sighed as he crawled out of the crater and stood up, brushing himself off in the process.
“ Hey this guy is supposed to be really freaking old in human years, Ipos, so I thought he was going to be weak!” Zepar shouted irritatedly and the other devil rolled their eyes.
“ So, you underestimated the King of Spade?” Ipos asked with a quirked brow, and when Zepar didn’t answer, they sighed. “ Idiot.”
“ Crap, here he comes!”
And the battle between Yuno, Zepar, and Ipos continued.
————
Wind, Star, Ice, and Transformation magic floated through the air as the three battled. Even though one could say that Yuno was stronger, quicker, and more powerful then these two, he was still having to put in a little more effort then he normally would have.
While he had no trouble dealing with Zepar on his own, he was beginning to have a few issues since Ipos joined the fight. They were both high ranking devils, and like him they had dual abilities; their original magic, and their hosts magic.
But strangely, neither one seemed to be using their hosts' magic. Instead, they were using their own magic to fight him. Which made Yuno curious. Did they see him as a threat, and so used the magic they were more confident in? Or were they just trying to wear him down so someone else could finish the job?
As Yuno used Quartile Scutum to block a dual attack from Ipos’s Ice magic, and Zepar’s transformation magic, he felt an intense pressure of mana. His head snapped in its direction and saw a bright flash before a huge wall of Diamond appeared on one side, and on the other side a huge angled mountain of Diamond appeared.
Yuno’s eyes widened, his heart stopped in his chest, and a quiet whisper escaped him as he stared at the mountains in the center of the castle.
“ Neva…!”
Without thinking of the consequences, without caring if the devils followed him, Yuno used his Star magic to teleport to the center of the castle. Worry and terror gripped his heart as he feared what he would find once he made it there.
As he landed in the central courtyard and glanced around the area his eyes fixated on the scene before his very eyes. Something, from which he couldn't have torn his gaze away from, even if he tried. Something that his eyes couldn’t believe was real….

“Gay trans people are so much more entitled” Tumblr isn’t real life. Have you stopped to even maybe consider how straight trans people are a lot more likely to have community with who they’re attracted to. Gay trans do not. I’m sorry but this is soooo the opposite of everything I’ve seen and experienced in real life. Annoying people on tiktok are not the representatives of real life
If you'd told me to touch grass at any point during the time that I identified as trans I could've happily abided because I had plenty of it around me. Grass, cows, and farmland. A real life LGBT community, not so much. I was going to call your argument outdated given how intertwined the internet has become with real life but if anything the idea that everyone has access to an IRL LGBT community is extremely modern (and still not applicable to any of the dozens of people who live far away from major cities).
I don't think we should brush homophobes who are actively making the community unwelcoming to exclusively SSA people off as "annoying people on tiktok" when the online community is all some people have. And that's not about being a spoiled chronically online Youth who refuses to get off their phone and meet real people, even in the 90s a lot of LGBT people could only turn to online forums for acceptance and a sense of community.
But, for the record, I did end up finding an IRL community an hour away eventually and it absolutely wasn't better. It was a group that met once a month, usually only around 7 people showed up. The first time I went they were taking feedback on how the group was being run and a "trans lesbian" who had just aged out of the intended age bracket but didn't want to stop going jokingly complained that the group hadn't resulted in her having a wife and child yet. At that same meeting another trans woman complained that women were uncomfortable with her being in the women's changing room just because she had a penis. The person who ran the group was a pansexual woman who called herself a dyke (while being in a relationship with a man) and silenced my guilt of (at the time) feeling like I could only ever be happy with a woman by saying I may just meet a man I like. Online narratives on sexuality and perceived transphobia don't just stay online, they're created and absorbed by real people and those people go outside too. The group ended up shutting down because nobody wanted to run it anymore.
>Have you stopped to even maybe consider how straight trans people are a lot more likely to have community with who they’re attracted to. Gay trans do not.
How does that work in your head? The community actively looks down on lesbian/ftm and gay/mtf relationships to the point even people who might be interested in them won't touch that dynamic with a 10 foot pole. Bisexuals are in the community and can date both groups.
Also most "gay trans men" I knew when I identified as trans defined their sexuality by gender identity rather than sex and they just dated each other lmao. That's super common among "trans lesbians" too. I don't get what point you're trying to make.

My Cousin, My Lover: The Rosales Saga by F. Sionil Jose
(Hi! Former lurker/anon here. Behold my humble contribution to this blog. I’ve been sitting on this for a while now and I wish I could talk to more people about it. Too shy to do it IRL).
Francisco Sionil Jose (1924–2022) was a Filipino writer. Declared a National Artist for Literature in 2001, he’s best known for The Rosales Saga, which is composed of five historical novels centered on the town of Rosales. Other people have commented on the saga’s main themes: Philippine history, colonialism, class struggle, etc. I’m only here to talk about the cousincest.
In My Brother, My Executioner (published 1973), the main character Luis Asperri marries his paternal first cousin, Trining. Before we proceed, here’s some background. Luis is the illegitimate son of Don Vicente Asperri (rich landowner) and Nena (used to work for the Asperris as a domestic helper). Trining is the daughter of Don Vicente’s brother, who along with his wife died when their house was burned by angry peasants. A servant saved Trining, who was then raised by Don Vicente. Luis didn’t join them until he was 13. Prior to that, he grew up in a village with his mom, grandpa, and half-brother. But then Don Vicente, who had no legitimate sons, called for him. His mom was angry for obvious reasons but let Luis go.
Fast forward a few years to the main point of the story. Luis, now living in Manila and the editor-in-chief of a magazine, is summoned back to Rosales. Reluctantly, he goes back home with Trining, now a student at a convent school (not sure if high school or college). She’s very proud of her cousin and brags about him to her friends, who tease that she’s in love with him. But he doesn’t pay attention to them, much to her disappointment. Now that they’re going home, she’s looking forward to spending more time with him, but he just wants to hear what his dad has to say before going back to his job.
So they go home. Don Vicente’s now getting older and sicker, so of course he wants Luis to be his heir and continue the family line. At some point, he asks Luis about women and says, “I want you to have a look again at your cousin.” Don Vicente talks about how Trining is pretty and rich, and tells his son not to worry if his current feelings for her are only like a cousin’s or even a brother’s. He also tells him not to worry about the church - “We’ll get a dispensation from the bishop later.” Granted, since the book’s set in the ‘50s and these are rich propertied people, there’s the “keep the money in the family” angle, but I found it hilarious that the old guy shipped his son and niece. Anyway, dad and son have a disagreement about their lives as landlords vis-a-vis the poverty of the peasants, so Luis cuts his stay in Rosales short.
Prior to that, he did view Trining in a platonic light. He felt comfortable enough to change his clothes in front of her, for example. But over time, he starts appreciating her less platonically and they go all the way when they’re back in Manila. A bit of a love triangle develops between Luis, Trining, and Trining’s friend, but the cousincest wins out. Trining says that even making love feels natural with them, while Luis comments (maybe with some sarcasm?), “What a nice, compact little family we are."
They get married in Rosales at Don Vicente’s behest. Trining wants to meet Luis’ mom and is sad that the rest of his family couldn’t go to the wedding. Again, context: during the story’s time frame, the Philippine government was trying to suppress the Hukbalahap insurgency. Remember Luis’ village? People there were accused of harboring "Huk” rebels, so the army attacked it. When he finds out after the wedding, he goes searching for his family, but he only finds burned-out remains where the village used to be. Trining insists on joining him in his search, but it proves fruitless.
As you may expect, the story ends on a sad note. Trining gives birth to a baby boy, but it’s premature and implied to have birth defects. She herself is fine, but sad because the doctors also removed her uterus (“Oh, Luis, I wanted to give you a dozen children!”). Then Luis (who becomes the new landlord when Don Vicente dies) gets a note telling him and Trining to leave before the day is over. Alarmed, she wants them to sell everything and move to Manila, but he tells her not to worry. Bad move. That night, the “Huks” attack the estate and Trining is shot. Before she dies, she tells Luis to give their son a happy childhood. This…doesn’t happen. It’s implied that Luis is killed, too. We don’t know what happens to the baby.
The relationship had cute parts and potential. Imagine: prim and proper Catholic girl x the brooding intellectual guy who fought with a priest and wants to fight for the poor. We could’ve seen how they first met, the little moments when they were growing on each other without them realizing it. The way it was, Trining seemed way more into Luis than the other way around. But the novel’s main point was always the class struggle, not the romance. Oh well. Maybe some fanfiction writer could fix that…?
The other novel featuring cousincest is The Pretenders (published 1962). I haven’t read this, but according to TV Tropes, the main character Antonio Samson (who, like Luis, starts out poor in a village and gets a job involving writing) has a son with his cousin Emy. However, these two don’t end up together.
There is another F. Sionil Jose-written story (not one of the Rosales books) that features incest, but I think it belongs on the other blog.
If you made it to the end of this long post, thank you :)
--
This is a wonderful contribution to the blog! Thank you so much or writing up all of these details about Trinning and Luis. It’s a pity the relationship isn’t explored more, but the development sounds wonderful. I particularly love that Luis’ father wants him to marry Trinning and that Luis isn’t enthusiastic at first but comes around later.
The ending makes me sad. But particularly that the child has birth defects irks. As we all know, unless the family was already inbred the risk of such things is not much higher than a non-cousin union. Anyway...
Thank you to all the family sagas with incest, and thank you to all of my followers who have read them!
