If you compare Kai's romantic situation with Lloyd and even Zane, they both have shown more romantic interest in a character than he has. which is ironic because Kai is the playboy and Lloyd n Zane are the aroace characters in fanon, despite canon This kinda fuels my opinion that the fanon view of Lloyd and Zane being aro ace specifically is based on stereotypes of aromantic and asexual people rather than taking a dive at how the characters behave in the show. To celebrate Asexual Visibility Week (which Happy Asexual Visibility Week by the way omg), here is a list of characters who are now asexual because I said so:

Crowley and Aziraphale (Good Omens) I mean, this is basically canon for me already but their relationship genuinely means so much to me because it's not inherently romantic or sexual or even strictly platonic, they just have such a strong emotional bond and love each other in a way that I think could only be asexual. And being fairly new to my sexuality (not even a year yet) I really needed that. Maybe I don't want an allonormative relationship - maybe I just want what they have. Idk they're just really special to me.

Belle (Beauty and the Beast) Belle being ace removes the beastiality aspect of the story so I think this is best for everyone involved. (This goes for Tiana too, actually - ace!Tiana, let's go). But she literally fell in love with the Beast because of his personality alone after spending a long time getting to know him (and because of a library but ykw me too girlie). And it helps that I've had a strong attachment to Belle since like forever (I actually played her in a school production when I was 6).

Peter Pettigrew (Harry Potter) Right, so I do hate Peter and I wouldn't do this if I didn't have to, but omg he is so asexual. And definitely not saying that asexual people are going to betray and murder their best friends but I feel like not fitting in with his very allonormative group and maybe not even knowing what the term asexual means could be an interesting motivation for his actions. Peter feeling like he's broken somehow for not feeling what the others are feeling, thinking there must be something wrong with him since everyone else is falling in love, viewing himself as unloveable because platonic love isn't enough when everyone else has a brilliant romance, turning to the Dark Lord because he's been left behind but maybe this will fix him... and then losing that platonic love too and realising he didn't need fixing after all and his friends were enough, but now it's too late. So, anyway, ace!Peter makes me sad.

Katniss Everdeen (The Hunger Games) "There's never been anything romantic between Gale and me." This is 100% because Gale is a walking red flag but I'll take it as an aroace thing too. “Remember, we’re madly in love, so it’s all right to kiss me any time you feel like it.” The fact she didn't fall head-over-heels in love with Peeta as soon as he said this is honestly all the evidence I need. Also trying to act like you're madly in love with someone? I know it was for survival but, again, I'll take what I can get. "What I need is the dandelion in the spring... And only Peeta can give me that." This is not an allosexual relationship, I will not change my mind. Personally, I think Katniss is probably demisexual and I love her for that.

The Doctor (Doctor Who) If I had a nickel for every time David Tennant played an 'immortal' genderfluid asexual non-human who loves the stars and humanity, I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice. But, yeah, the Doctor is asexual, that's just canon for me (and David Tennant said it too soooooooo).

Zoe Nightshade (Percy Jackson) The Hunters of Artemis are a sisterhood that requires you to swear off love and relations with men. Oh no, what a sacrifice! Come to think of it, she also has a connection to the stars - this is becoming a recurring thing.

Artemis, Athena, and Hestia (Greek Mythology) The fact there is a trio of asexual goddesses will never not make me so happy. In the Homeric Hymns, 5, To Aphrodite, Aphrodite is described as having "no power" over these three, which basically just confirms what everyone was already thinking. Artemis is quite literally the Maiden Goddess, who asks her father, Zeus, to forever remain a virgin and protect those who wish the same. Athena never took on any lovers (and in the Percy Jackson series, her children are conceived through her thoughts and born in the same way she was). And Hestia just wanted to be left alone with her hearth, also never marrying or having children.

Barbie (Barbie) "To do what?" Girlie literally has nothing going on down there (for the majority of the movie, idk what happened at the end) and doesn't understand why Ken wants to stay over because they're girlfriend boyfriend. The point of the Barbies is that they show women can be everything so, legally, no one can stop me saying she's an asexual icon.

Regulus Black (Harry Potter) I apologise to all the Jegulus stans out there but you can pry Regulus from my cold, dead hands. Asexual and Bi/Pan friendships are my absolute favourite (shout out to me and my bestie <3) and that is exactly what he's got with Pandora. Also, after Sirius was disowned, the responsibility of continuing the Black family line would fall to Regulus and that aroace pressure makes for some beautiful angst. And it means he's okay with sacrificing himself because at least he won't have to force a life he doesn't want. Why does the Marauders era always turn so sad so quickly?

An Aroace Doctor Reading of "Rogue"

Disclaimer: I am not interested in proving what's "canon". I do not believe that canon exists. I am interested in formulating a reasonable reading of the episode wherein the Doctor is aromantic and asexual, and fundamentally believe that such a thing is possible in basically all contexts with enough determination. If that's not your thing, that's fine, but I don't need to argue in the replies about how this isn't canon). Also if it sounds like I'm arguing with someone, I promise it's probably not you, hypothetical reader, but the ghost of 2015-ish and the mean voices it left in my brain

I finally watched Rogue! It wasn't as bad as I was worried it would be, from an aroace perspective. I think I can reasonably view it as a combination of my already-established beliefs that:

The Doctor likes it when people like them, and does not like being rejected. How they handle this varies wildly - from preemptively rejecting people, to hiding everything so people can't reject them, to being aggressively fun and charming and interesting, which seems to be the fifteenth Doctor's approach. This approach from the fifeenth Doctor in particular can come across as flirty even in contexts where it clearly isn't meant to be, I think because many people aren't accustomed to that level of genuineness and exuberance from a relative stranger

The Doctor, at least recently, does not like outright rejecting people who are sincerely interested in them, probably due to the previously-mentioned desire for people to like them

The Doctor does enjoy banter, including banter that can be read as flirting, because banter and wordplay are fun

The Doctor does not view kissing the same way humans do, perhaps partially because of the touch-telepathy present in Time Lords, and tends to relate to kissing (even mouth kisses that humans would view as romantic) as a general expression of strong emotion or a telepathic tool rather than a strictly sexual or romantic thing. The Doctor is generally aware that kissing is romantic for humans, but how much they internalize this varies (see: the tenth Doctor remembering that kissing can be viewed a certain way and warning Martha they don't mean it that way, but not realizing it's so deeply ingrained in contemporaneous human culture as romantic that she won't be able to just turn it off in her head)

With that in mind, here's my personal take:

The Doctor is suspicious of Rogue, but also thinks he's interesting and aesthetically attractive ("hot" - a word that aroaces can also use without proving we're not aroace)

The Doctor banters with Rogue, enjoys the banter, and is friendly and charming to him because they want to learn more and because banter is fun. They don't trust him at first, but enjoy interacting with him.

Once it's been established that the Doctor is not the enemy here and they can work together, the Doctor is a) charmed by Rogue's proper admiration of the Tardis, and b) sympathetic to Rogue's Tragic Backstory. The Doctor's probably projecting a little at this point because "Bounty hunter who's lost people and is working to do something he thinks is helpful but maybe isn't for a mysterious boss" probably resonates for "Ex-Division-Operative/Ex-Time-War-Participant" reasons, even though they are deeply Not Acknowledging that they have issues, no thank you.

Near-kiss in the Tardis happens because of the Doctor's deep lack of personal space and generally being more accepting of touch in this incarnation

Nothing needs to be explained with the dancing/fake fight/fake marriage proposal, except the Doctor's "Oh shit" reaction to the proposal, which to my mind is that of someone reliving all the other times people have had Romantic or Sexual feelings towards them and it has caused Problems that the don't reciprocate in the same way, even if they care a lot. Also the Doctor's total lack of prior trauma around losing people or being rejected because they are Perfectly Well Adjusted Now

The actual kiss happens because a) Rogue needs to distract the Doctor and kissing is distracting, and b) the Doctor isn't averse enough to touch in this incarnation to dislike kissing on principle I think, and emotions were running high enough that I think they can appreciate it from an emotional/telepathic perspective anyways

The Doctor is sad when Rogue is lost because a) the Doctor hates losing people in general, b) it's another person sacrificing themselves to save the Doctor or their friends when they couldn't, and c) they did care about Rogue and saw potential in him to both grow and learn more and to be a fun person to travel and argue with

Other thoughts about the episode!

I'm glad Ruby didn't actually die this time, but this is a lot of almost-deaths for her now. Makes me nervous!

I really liked the designs for the Chuldur! It was neat that they all looked slightly different but recognizably the same species

I definitely feel like they left this hanging on purpose, and we'll probably revisit Rogue and/or his boss at some point. Whether or not I'll enjoy that depends on how they handle it, probably

(My actual hot take here is that I think Jonathan Groff is just okay, and although to quote my mom "Ncuti Gatwa could have chemistry with a popsicle", Jonathan just didn't feel like he had much chemistry with him to me I'm sorry. Even setting aside my canon-divergent bullshit he's just not as compelling to me as I think he is to other people. I think conceptually though it's fun to have a human from the future around)

I am such a sucker for scenes where someone does a medical scan on the Doctor and is like "Oh shit" so that was very fun. I also enjoyed seeing the Doctor described as a shapeshifter.

I really loved the scene at the end where the Doctor and Ruby are reunited properly and hug and she kind of calls them on their "I'm totally fine please ignore all the traumatic things that just happened" routine! It was lovely, and I really think their dynamic is coming together. Ruby was also great in her scenes with the lady whose name I forgot who went through a breakup.

The ending of borderline forever is pretty… its… well i guess for me to really have definitive thoughts on it i would have to decide on what i think the allegory is because scott taking the border back serves different purposes for different ones, good and bad. In terms of the trans allegory, I initially considered that it was like him. Accepting transness as part of themselves and learning to live with it and move on from that (effectively transitioning just not. Outwardly (?)). Until my boyfriend (forced to watch every scott the woz lore episode for (for the most part) the first time with me) pointed out n. No it kinda just seems like they can’t imagine themselves as any different/better and thinks This Is As Good As It Gets so they retreat back to their status quo. And like. Huh. Yeah. 100% it’s still affecting them negatively and they hate it but they’re ignoring it now they saved the world and they never have to succumb to the horror of being understood and perceived i mean no one else has to worry abt this ever again.

like… two years ago i wrote a fic about nonbinary scott called Abiura Di Me (it’s never getting finished, i was originally gonna do a little comic to end things off but it felt kind of ehh. the only way i’m finishing it is if i completely start over. which who knows.) and, despite not rlly having this interpretation at the time, i did want to kind of explore scott like that, thinking they’re ‘content’ with their life now and wondering why they still feel unhappy/unfulfilled.

In general scott feels like a character that’s so… rigid and strict with their identity/attributes of themselves in a way that, often, makes them miserable, or at the very least in a way that they’re self deprecating abt like i said b4. (i.e. their virginity, and how it oscillates something they take pride in vs. something that they’re ashamed of (b4 accepting it in barrel blast)(youtuber slash tumblr user prim m, in description of their barrel blast mashup did a rlly interesting lil. few sentences of analysis abt this in particular!!), but is, to them at least, a key part of who they are that they have to keep asserting + how they talk abt themselves liking video games and how, similarly it oscillates between smthn that brings them a lot of joy and again, smthn that they’re ashamed of thats another reason they feel isolated, but is nonetheless. Probably THE defining thing about scott.)

And while this^ feels like a general internalized transphobia thing, it’s probably THE reason i think they’re nonbinary specifically, although i fuck with transfem scott severely. I really like the idea of scott unburdening themselves from any kind of labels and kinda just being happy Existing, it’s essentially what they already want/think they already have just with less expectation put upon them to perform. Okay, as much as i love rambling about my OCs, sadly, there really isn't much for me to tell about them without revealing too much about irl me. We're actually barely different aside from some changes. So i guess i'll focus on those and some basic info.

To me giving my sona a prosthetic just felt as the most fitting way to convey all the struggles i had to go through to get on the road to recovery and the feelings i felt throughout the process and eventual happines at "I now have a new hand. So... The reason my sona lacks their wrist is because they quite literally cut it off themself.

You see, i had to struggle with wrist pains for 5 years and there were many instances where i just wanted to get rid of my hand as a whole, to cut it off. I knew how painful it would be, but a short instance of a ton of pain felt better than this slow lingering pain that is always at the back of your head. I didn't do it. My sona did.

I ended up getting myself medical help and going through a surgery that restored my hand's full health, even if everyone around me was doubting me or just openly against it.

My sona, through a ton of struggles, ended up creading themself a new hand that worked just as fine as their old one.

We both got ourselves new hands and did so against all odds. In spite of everyone and everything.

This prosthetic is a reminder of my determination, pain, fear or unknown, anger, achivement and, last but certainly not least, happiness.

now, why should YOU ship sonatchet? it's simple: the franchises have so much in common. now, sonic fans, when i say, an anthropomorphic creature has to stop the evil capitalist baddie from taking over the world with his little buddy, smart as a whistle. along the way, he grinds rails, he follows his own path, not exactly good, but certainly heroic. he does this all with an absolutely brilliant soundtrack. and yeah, maybe the more recent games haven't been so good, writing and gameplay-wise, but hey, we're getting back on track.

what i have just described to you is ratchet and clank. initially created a year after everyone's golden child of sonic games, sa2, by ex-members of sonic team, ratchet and clank has been a vital part of my upbringing, more so than sonic has. for me, sonic is a more recent thing. i've been a fan since i was 5. when did i become a fan of r&c, you may ask? well, my first memory is my dad playing it in front of me, to give you an idea. i couldn't walk or speak properly, sat in a high chair, presumably eating soggy toast, one half marmite and the other of bovril. but, by that point, i was used to the experience - i can't even remember the first time i watched him play.

for any sonic fans who havent yet got the gist, imagine shadow the hedgehog (2005) with good writing that sounds like how actual people speak and less goofy weapons. edginess for the sake of humour rather than for edginess. oh also there is actual genocide in r&c1 quick heads up.

so, r&c fans, with it being far more mainstream, you're probably well aware of the overlap between the two franchises. hell, most of you reading probably are sonic fans. so, of course, i probably wont have to explain sonic in ratchet and clank terms. i want to but i wont. at the end of the day, all you need to know is that sonic is a hedgehog who runs fast and is kinda like ratchet.

ratchet canonically has negative rizz (though i believe has had canon love interests iirc?)/sonic is attractive to almost everyone

ratchet has explored multiple galaxies/sonic has only explored a single planet and the odd space station

sonic is probably more likely to do the right thing

sonic is a giant environmentalist, literally has befriended nature/ratchet cares more about saving people than planets, unless it's an actual planet blowing up. like, the planet will cease to exist from quark's super laser piss or something

all of this ties together to create the wonderful ship we call sonatchet, a real and true yearning across franchises. truly, god made them in different game studios because he knew they would be unstoppable as canon lovers.

Basically, as you MAY have noticed, the guy has a lot of burn scars (shocking), that's because when he was little his house burnt down and his parents died and he got super fucked up, he's been in the foster system since he was like 10, no family wanted to take him in because his parents had him when they were super young and thus were disowned. So we start off strong with that, and it gets worse!

I wanted to make spring a little more unhinged because wowzers the sprintrap animatronic is evil, however his chill attitude captivated me, so i decided to make the unhinged him be his younger self, children are cruel adults are scary people in the foster system get treated as "a way to give people who cant have bio kids families" or "charity cases" instead of normal children with a lot of unnadressed issues who deserve a change to grow up with a semblance of normalcy. He was alone and scared and angry at life and thus tended to get into a lot of fights and to stealing stuff and such. Problem kid status + visibly scarred led him to never really finding a permanent home, not that he wanted one, because most of the adults in his life scared him and also wanted him to have a "new" life, AKA forget his parents and accept these new strangers as parents, horrible!

This little kid who is very scared and alone and wishes for nothing more than his parents calming him down again meets 2 even smaller kids and just, projects onto them. He started coping with all the stuff in his head through taking care of children and pretending it was also him who was being taken care of so softly and tenderly, the children being meg and fox. He just starts taking care of them and subconciously growing up really fast to get them the support and whatever they need and then out of literally nowhere hes 18. He's like "oh crap wth" Gets send off to the real world having BARELY graduated from highschool and with some money, he cannot bear the thought of losing any more people and just looks into becoming the other 2's legal guardian and gets them out of the system to live with him in the worlds cheapest house he could find

So what I mean is that he hyperfocused on being a caretaker and getting money and growing up and getting ten thousand things that the thought of romance was not even anywhere near his head, having FRIENDS was nowhere near his head. He had to find a job he had to enroll the other 2 into school he had to find another job he had to make sure their house didn't fall apart by the seams. Also fun fact, the more he grew up the more he realized he is a literal carbon copy of his dad, but visibly scarred! have fun looking in the mirror buddy

In his head, he does not really see himself as a full grown adult even though hes 24, and his weird thought of "adults being scary" still persists even though he himself is one, he doesn't like talking to grown people and that isn't helped by how he spent most of his life with Fox and Meg, he is not used to talking to people his age or older and he was too busy to actually process that romance might be something he wanted when he was just drowning in ten other thousand things already. As he got older and fox and meg also got older and got partime jobs his burden was lessened a lot and he was allowed to CHILL a little

Monkie kid headcanons for fun

Red son headcanons:

Red son has bad memory and he only calls MK and Mei Noodle boy and dragon girl because he legit cannot remember their names to save his life.

Red son's glasses are shades, which aren't normal for prescription glasses which makes me think he actually uses them to control light intake due to his pupils not adjusting to light properly.

Red son has chronic pain but doesn't even realize it because He's lived with it for centuries so it's basically just the norm for him. His pain is mostly centered in his back and joints.

Red son has neurodivergent swag. Idk what kind but he sure as hell has it.

Red son doesn't like being touched. He probably has to be the one to initiate the touch to feel comfortable. (You could read this as him being touch starved but tbh i don't really read him one way or another :P)

Red son has the nonbinary swag. Source: trust me bro.

Red son can't cheat on anything. he legally is not allowed to cheat. this may or may not be related to the fact he feels the need to prove himself. Source: he tried to win the great wall race fair and square instead of just stealing the peach or cheating to win.

Red son isn't very good at comforting and instead is someone who tries to find a solution to a problem. He struggles to realize that sometimes there is no solution and some people just need comfort.

Red son is non-partnering aroace. He used to just say that romance got in the way of his work because he didn't realize that romantic interest wasn't just something you could turn on or off at will.

Red son actually doesn't have any bull-like features and he is rather self conscious about the fact he doesn't look like his father at all.

Red son is a cat person. Cats tend to flock to him due to being a living heater and he just accepts his fate and gets buried in them.

Red son doesn't know how to handle compliments or people being nice to him so he usually mistakes his confused feelings towards them with anger.

Red son is able to get "burnt out" in which he uses too much energy and his fire dies out for a while, in which he is only able to produce smoke. Usually after resting he is able to use his fire again.

His fire responds to his emotions. It can become hard to control when he is emotionally unstable.

When angry or stressed Red son turns to work. usually he will lock himself up in his room or workshop until he's calmed down or finished what he's working on.

Red son talks to himself and thinks out loud often. he finds it easier to work through his thoughts when he is able to verbalize them out loud as compared to them floating vaguely in his head.

Red Son doesn't really have a filter and will reply bluntly with his exact thoughts. he struggles to take into account how his words could upset others which has made him come off as rude.

The only time he is aware of what he is saying is when speaking to his parents. Source: Red son will seem to speak without filter until his parents show distaste in what he said in which then he will backtrack and try to change what he said to make them happy. (the "I have made it's power my pow - our power" scene in the pilot)

Red son doesn't eat beef because of his father being a bull. (more of a silly headcanon rather than serious)

Mk Headcanons:

Mk has the transmasc swag. Source: trust me bro. Also just him mentioning how he used to go by something before MK, how he wears a shirt when swimming, and how much he screams about being a monkey MAN. Very transmasc of him.

Mk has ADHD. He is SO ADHD you guys have NO IDEA. Source: IMPOSSIBLE DELIVERY THAT IS THE ADHD MOOD ALL THE TIME.

Mk cries over movies all the time. It's basically expected that every emotional scene in a film will end with him sobbing.

Mk is Gay AroAce. I imagine him being Demi or gray aro and then just plain ace!

The more power MK uses the more he shows monkey-like features.

Mk was actually decently strong even before he got monkey king's powers. basically he's got a bit of muscle on him.

Mk has a war form like Wukong, he just hasn't activated it yet :) (iirc Wukong's "war form" is really just Wukong's power to multiply his limbs so MK can do that too)

Mk will make weird noises as he does things, usually as sound effects to the task he is currently doing.

MK talks to himself a lot, usually as a way to sooth his nerves to talk his way through a problem. He will also talk to plushes and other inanimate objects as a way to talk thought his thoughts as they get all jumbled in his head.

He tends to stay up incredibly late, even when he is tired. He can't ever seem to go to bed at a reasonable time.

MK is unmedicated for his ADHD. Not for lack of trying he just keeps forgetting to go get it prescribed.

MK can't drink coffee has it has the opposite effect on him in which it causes him to crash intensely. he tried to use it as a sleep aid once to go to bed earlier but instead it made him late for work as he slept way longer than expected. source: very common for ppl with ADHD to consume caffeine and become sleepy instead of energized. ofc this isn't how it is for all ppl with ADHD but it's common enough that i put it on MK ;)

MK tends to snack as a stim. He often will find himself missing full meals because of hyperfocus and his snacking stim making him forget he's hungry.

Mei Headcanons:

Mei also has the ADHD swag sorry I don't make the rules.

Mei is Lesbian Ace. I feel like she is either Demi-Ace or Gray-Ace.

Mei has a physical dragon form as well as the energy dragon. The energy dragon is a lot easier to summon compared to turning into a dragon - plus takes less energy.

While Mei likes cats, She is more of a dog person overall.

Mei used to be pretty shy as a kid mostly due to her trying to fulfill her parents idea of her. She only really came out of her shell when she became friends with Mk. Hence why Mei's parents, specifically her mom, didn't really care for Mk all that much. if anything they found him to be a bad influence for a while. also why Mk was never invited to Mei's house until S1E3

Mei has a better relationship with her father as compared to her mother. While both her parents are more traditionalists her father always was a bit more lenient and supportive of his daughters eccentricities.

Mei met Mk when out in town with her family. She saw him trying to win a crane machine and ended up helping him get the monkey plush he wanted...even if it was cheating the system. (also yes the plush he is seen with I headcanon to of been won by Mei and gifted to him)

Mei was a late bloomer when it came to her dragon powers which just added to the stress she had of being the family disappointment.

Mei often speaks without a filter when around the rest of the monkie kid group as she feels like she can truely be herself with her friends as compared to her family where she feels constantly stifled.

Mei is a variety streamer. She most often streams video games but sometimes will do vlogging streams along with MK as they go around the city. She has definitely streamed MK fighting a demon before.

Mei has raced illegally at least once and she totally WON.

Mei made the upgrades to her bike herself, such as the ability for it to come to her when she calls it. It made it easy when she has the sudden burst of motivation to drive it.

At first Mei was incredibly polite when meeting Pigsy and Tang, not fully coming out of her shell right away. At first Pigsy thought Mei would be a good influence on MK - he was proven wrong when Mei became more outgoing and starting causing mischief with MK.

Mei definitely crashed through MKs window while in her dragon form at least once (she was probably trying to visit him while he was grounded lol). Pigsy was not impressed.

Mei went to private school when she was a kid meaning that her and MK were only able to hang out after school. Though as she got older she had a tendency to start skipping class to go crash MKs classes instead.

Some mixed headcanons that don't belong with one character or another:

Mei and Mk are literally the only friends each other has. MK always struggled to make friends due to kids finding him obnoxious. Mei struggled to make friends due to her upbringing along with her ADHD making her rather abrasive.

I think it's a bit obvious that Clay and Bloberta's marriage is NOT based upon mutual love. it's based on trauma both of them have. Bloberta's being feeling useless and unhelpful. she finally finds a guy that she has helped in some positive way. she immediately jumps to the conclusion of "this is it. this is the one." without thinking about anything else other than "he was the first one that has seen that I've helped, so obviously I have to get with him." and it's. a trauma response. she does have an attraction to him, bc obviously he's a handsome guy. but she doesn't know him. all she knows is that he said that she helped him. that does it for her. she doesn't need anything else.

and what she ultimately did was set herself up for disappointment. getting him drunk was a bad idea, obviously. so when he acts up and starts showing bad signs/red flags, she ignores it. or at least she tries to. leading to a sort of coping mechanism; cleaning. she thinks Clay is "filthy" so she goes to cleaning as her outlet.

this leads to her knocking Clay out, bc she can't take it anymore. once Clay wakes up, she helps him clean up, and talks to him abt what happened and proposes that they get married.

my genuine thoughts on why she did this so quick is, she doesn't want to get to know him. she doesn't want to see the red flags, or the bad parts. she also doesn't want him to say no. Clay is the first person that she had "helped" and she will not let this go. she won't let him go.

when Clay declines, she drops his head. this shows a bit of manipulation going on. a power imbalance. she's keeping him comfortable and safe, and once she lets go, he's not safe anymore. she did this on purpose, as I said before; she will not let this opportunity go. she has to marry him so he can make her feel wanted. that's all she's ever wanted. to feel helpful. to feel wanted by someone else. someone who would care about her and tell her she's useful.

when he finally "agrees" to her "proposal", she openly cares for him again. happy with the response.

they get married a bit later, the two having a service. you can see the emotion gone from Clay's face. Bloberta looks happy, but as soon as she sees Clay's deadpan face, her emotion drops as well. this shows that she might have genuinely liked him, in a love-ish kind of way. but we all know that they didn't know each other very well at this point, so she was probably hopeful for a happy wedding. and a genuine shared love with her husband. but she overlooked the possibility that maybe he didn't love her the way she loves him. because I think she did love him, at a time. at a time where she could look at him and love the man she saw. someone she barely knew.

this was probably the opposite with Clay. he barely knew Bloberta and he couldn't feel any real love for her. he doesn't try to fake this for the sake of a wedding because why would he? there's no reason to pretend to love someone you don't. and he was basically forced into this. being married to someone who practically manipulated you into saying yes isn't going to be the happiest decision of your life.

but I'm not saying she meant to manipulate him in this way. she probably just thought he liked her. and she liked him. so why not get married? two people who like each other. and when that takes place is a prime decade of unhappy marriages just because you liked someone and decided to get married. not getting to know them before holy matrimony is a fatal mistake, even now.

Clay's trauma is being worthless. this leads to him saying yes in the first place. hes told he's worth something. someone cares. someone is gonna marry him because he's worth something. and being very sensitive to any type of care, he'll take anything he can get. this specific scenario, a woman who is helping you is telling you that she wants to marry you. and you're supposed to say yes. you feel you have to. because she cares about you. she thinks you're worth it. who would say no?

also being hungover and not thinking straight, you're obviously not gonna have time to think before she leaves your life forever. and he doesn't want that. she's the first person to think he's worth hanging around and being with. it's a weird situation to be in. saying yes was the only logical thing for him to say, yk?

oh, since it is sunday, my contribution is part psa and part headcanon. not that anyone has asked, so this is just me putting this here to be reblogged as needed down the line, but thra/wn.... is not easy to romantic ship with. this probably surprises no one, but to clarify, here is a bit of elaboration.

i don't think he's impossible to ship with, and i definitely am not taking that tack, but it will take a lot of talk and plotting to make work. he's not terribly inclined toward the romantic or sexual in the first place, so with likely few exceptions, i won't have a definite answer for you, at least in a positive direction.

i also don't really agree with or see as they are presented any of the popular ship dynamics or combos for him that are out there. that's not a no, never especially for the latter, but it is just a heads up that if you pop in an ask for one of those, i'm more likely to say no or this is something that would require even more working out.

basically, anything with him romantic shipping wise would need to be a slow burn, and i mean a sloooow burn with a lot of lead up to when even a bit of romance can come in with at least a decent amount of that written out so i can figure out if he's going for the bait.

what can i tell you about him in this department if you're wondering about shipping? i don't really have a label for him but after a few friends and i have either mentioned or talked about this, he verges on aroace, but more so is extremely demisexual (there will never be instant attraction of the romantic sort basically), but is very open to pretty much any gender or species, so you might also call him pansexual. smush all that together and he's... him on that front.

i don't really see him being interested in someone in the same line of work as him (aka the military), though that isn't a definite, just makes it HIGHLY less likely. i do think he would be more attracted to someone with similar interests (so think art, history, music, etc.) as some measure of understanding where he gets his ideas is an absolute must. i doubt he could fall in love with someone if they didn't understand how he pulls his ideas from art. and perhaps most importantly, in many ways, probably someone with a fairly different personality than him. certainly, he doesn't want someone flighty, very manipulative personally or politically, or apt to panic, but rather softer in some way than he is, more personable, etc. all of these are a lot harder to find in his line of work (but not impossible... just harder, thus the bit about the military), and also probably not amongst the elite.

all that to say you're always welcome to ask. for someone who is selective in general with them, i really love to ship and always like to try to find some way to make it work if there's even a chance.

5- A fan work I'd like to make with queer themes? There be so, so many!

The main one revolving in my head at the moment is a longer fic about John. I want to explore about being aroace, particularly around growing up with it before you have a word for the experience. And maybe gender too, I've got a few hand wavy ideas around John being NB, trans, genderqueer?? something somehow.

I also strongly head canon John as autistic. (I could write an entire thesis about this and maybe I will, because his character is very autistically coded, in TAG and in plenty of fics, obviously and likely completely unintentionally.) So that has some interesting intersections with being queer, and feeling different.

Mostly I just want to poke around in his head, because to me John is endlessly both relatable and fascinating!

Also another work with genderfluid/queer Gordy, because he is definitely very gender. With some supportive FishTank too! And the added bonus of a legit excuse to infodump about sea creatures that change gender 'cause I sure do know some facts!

6- I don't really have any queer OCs for Thunderbirds :( but that's mostly because I've been having so much fun playing around with the canon characters!

I've got a lot (who am I kidding, it's basically all of them) of queer characters in my original works, though! It's the write-what-you-want-to-read situation, and I need stories about brash lesbian knights, aroace mages, trans hackers, queer engineers and genderfuid astronauts!!!
