Kid Leo Au: Finding Home

Part 3!!

Shoutout to everyone guessing it was Carol O'Neill!! She was on a late night grocery run :)

her coloring kinda changes between the first two panels and the ones after Leo runs off because CSP decided to delete the palette I LITERALLY JUST MADE FOR HER!! and then I couldn't just eyedrop tool it because I use a gradient map layer over th color layer and coloring these pages was just a mess >:(

ANYWAY!! I really like my design for Carol and I hope everyone else does!! I spent a lot of time researching diferrent hairstyles for her but ended up going with the one that's most like her canon appearance! I also gave her a similar hair color to April ( coloring is messed up a bit in the other two panels cause again, palette issues). I also did a bit of research to get the texture right since I was giving her a slightly different hairstyle than her canon one ( v similar but not exactly the same ) so hopefully it reads well!!

I'll share the sketches I did of her before I finished lining/coloring this in a bit :)

venus if she was awesome

venus has always been one of my favorite characters, though i feel her design is pretty underwhelming with a lot of wasted potential. this is kind of a redesign, kind of my own personal headcannon, and kind of how i imagined venus in my head as a kid.

this is supposed to be my version of g1 venus, more similar in facial features and keeping the straight hair. i absolutely love her new hair and face in g3 but im hesitant to call the new outfit an improvement. both g1s outfit and g3s outfit are bad in their own ways. i dont want it to seem like im shitting on the new design. again i think the face sculpts, hair, and body types of g3 are so awesome. its great to see more diversity being included in the designs. i just decided to go with g1 venuses look because thats the venus i grew up with

i definitely took some inspiration from g3s outfit for this design. i like the idea of it but the execution is just not great, not to say her original outfit is any better. i feel like out of all of tge original monsters she was the one with the most waisted potential. i love her personality and the abilities she has but the way she was styled has always bothered me.

in the movies shes described as “eco-punk” which is SUCH a cool style to go with a plant monster character. i just feel like the “punk” in “eco-punk” was never really represented in her outfits. i personally love punk music and clothing; ive been an active member in my local diy scene for many years and i love seeing all the outfits people put together.

i thought i would give her an outfit that shows off a couple of my personal favorite staples of punk style. big chunky leather boots with lots of straps and buckles. kept the shoe mouths from the original because they cool as hell. lots of leather, studs, spikes. i gave her denim cutoff shorts inspired by her gen 3 outfit, same with the torn black top. punk style has a big focus on comfort, practicality, and making things yourself. i imagine she cut a pair of old pants into shorts, roughly cut her “undead kennedys”band shirt tank into a crop top, and probably repurposed the remaining fabric. i also totally didnt draw this whole thing as an excuse to use that pun. i included asymmetrical leg accessories, with one fishnet stocking and one torn up sock. i also feel like she repurposed these, continuing to wear her old torn up socks instead of just throwing them out. i gave her a big chunky studded belt matching one of her cuffs with a recycling symbol belt buckle. i feel like it communicates an important aspect of her personality just at a glance, plus i just love big belt buckles. lastly i added piercings because 1. theyre cool and 2. i for some reason remembered her having an eyebrow piercing but i guess she never had one.

i mostly kept her body and hair the same. changed her ears and hair color slightly but thats just personal preference. i decided to make the vines on her body look more like tattoos instead of being 3d. i imagine she can make them grow into real vines, but when shes not using her powers theyre just flat against her skin. gave her a facial expression that made her look a little more unhinged. she might only do things for the good of the earth but she can still mind control people at will.

i wish i leaned a little bit more into the plant theming but im overall still super happy with how this came out. maybe ill made more monster high redesigns in the future

What I mean by that is if I just so happen to mischaracterize a specific character or something like that, you can inform me otherwise. But please be respectful about it instead of going like " [INSERT CHARACTER] DOESNT DO THAT!" or "Girl have you not watched the series/show or smt 💀", I'm not aware of my own actions sometimes 😞

ajc style anteater. mini rant(?) about the ajpw design under the cut LOL

i know this is just because ajpw is more heavily targetted towards little kids and it looks like that to appeal to Little Kids but like. it just does not look like a giant anteater to me (assuming its based on giant anteaters specifically.) the head is too big and the tail is too small and the legs arent even correctly shaped <//3

they make it fluffy but none of it sticks out the way its meant to?

looking at these images side by side you can see that the fur on the second anteater is straight and goes downward. whereas the fur on the ajpw anteater sticks up or curves alot. eg on the neck and the tail, and kinda on the forelegs. in the ajpw design they completely ignore the long fur on the legs. which is kind of baffling to me because i feel like the long leg fur is really good design wise?? like it just looks nice and would have a nice silhouette when you put it on paper.

aside from the fur the head is also kinda big. same with the eyes. not much to say there.

i dont think the front claws on anteaters go forwards like that? its hard to find clear pictures of their paws but this one i found very clearly shows that their claws are facing inwards rather than outwards. i think its kinda like a gorilla hands type situation where they curl their forepaws/hands into a fist while walking. it feels like a weird choice to not reflect that in the ajpw design

i cant really think of much else to say so i think im done but i think i should say again. i know why the design is the way it is. im not the target audience and from the small amount of ajpw art ive looked at im pretty sure they have a slightly different style from ajc. this is just me voicing how i feel about it. i dont think they should change it and im not like ripping out my hair or angry over it i just think in an ideal world where i decide how everything looks it would look better. thats all thank you ^_^

Hi <3 I ask Sasuke fans to judge his drip, lol. What would you rate his outfits out of 10?

i actually adore this question bc did you all know that (according to no official source but me) sasuke has the most costume changes of any character? when looking up all outfits for each character, he blew both sakura and naruto out of the water.

(hope you don’t mind, but i’m using my own art of his costumes)

GENIN ERA: 7/10

i really like this one, actually, i’m a very big fan of the dark blues, almost more than the purple he gets later in the series. it reminds me a whole lot of absol the pokémon. but i’d also like to point out that it looks distinctly like he drew Killua’s hunter exam outfit and reworked it enough to not look like a Killua outfit lol

CHUNIN EXAM ERA: 6/10

i’m a little weirded out by it all being one piece, but i like him being in all black. gives very much “little kid discovering emo fashion.” i also like that they made his hair a bit longer/messier, but it looks really bad in some shots

SASUKE RECOVERY: 7/10

basically the same thing as the Genin era, so they get the same score. i do kind of miss the arm warmers, though

START OF SHIPPUDEN ERA: 9/10

Every time i see this outfit his shirt gets more open. it utterly cracks me up, especially headcanoning him as transmasc. that being said, im a big fan of the white. it makes him look almost regal, at times. I’m not as big of a fan of the orochimaru-style skirt and rope belt, but it looks better animated than it does in stills.

ITACHI FIGHT ERA: 5/10

this looks better animated than it does in my art style, but i still lowkey hate it. the wrap shirt deal looks really odd in my opinion, and i don’t like the lack of sleeves. also the placement of the bandaids going partway up his chest but not all the way looks weird. but i do really like the dark purple, even if i prefer the blue.

POST-ITACHI ERA: 8/10

I really like this shirt, but i’m an even bigger fan of the bangs. the bangs really round out the design in my opinion, and i like the way they slightly cover his eyes. and i’m obsessed w the way they look kind of triangular. he should’ve gotten bangs sooner, comparing him with and without them makes his forehead pre-bangs look massive lol

AKATSUKI ROBES: 6/10

the best part of this is the way the robes don’t really fit him, which makes me think they gave him itachi’s… which just makes me sad. again, huge fan of the bangs

SASUKE SHINDEN ERA: 7/10

i feel like i’m giving a lot of these 7/10, but oh well. i’m once again a fan of the all black, and i like his mysterious cloak lol. very much fulfilling his middle school fantasies

THE LAST ERA: 4/10

this one feels weirdly out of place to me. it’s a lot of browns, when he previously primarily wore cool tones like purple, blue, white or gray. i’m also bothered deeply by the fact that the shinden outfit was a perfect transition to his boruto era outfit, with the emo bang and the cloak, but the last takes place in between them. makes it feel like he randomly went to a different aesthetic for a few years before switching back. I would like this a lot more if they kept the emo bang and got rid of the weird headband. i’m also not a fan of the poncho. i think this one looks even worse animated.

BORUTO ERA: 8/10

i actually love this one. i loved it even more when i found out he wears formal clothing underneath. who gave him that vest??? it looks a lot more put together in comparison with his terrorist phase, which i love. It looks like his mom or his wife dressed him. I’m also a big fan of the cloak. this entire era makes him look kinda like a soggy cat, which is his prime form. i’m not a big fan of it animated, but i also just have a deep and passionate hatred for the way boruto is animated in general. my favorite idea is him tucking sarada and other children under his cloak like a little mother hen.

OVERALL:

sasuke has crazy drip. i fear he out serves naruto on every occasion. my favorite is the beginning of shippuden, with boruto era in second. he’s at his prime when he lives out his middle school emo fantasies. i love his emo bang and his bob. i also find it very interesting to watch him go from weirder, more uncomposed outfits to looking very put together by boruto

UNWOUND FUTURE RAAHHHHHHHH!!! What an AMAZING trilogy conclusion with such a perfect setup for future sequels. I cannot recommend playing Professor Layton enough.

Summary:

WHAT A PHENOMENAL GAME!!! Truly what a great “conclusion” to the main trilogy. You learn so much about Layton, Luke, flora, and many other characters like don paolo. The ending reveal of Clive was CRAZY. It really reminded me of movies like howls moving castle/the iron giant. I also just love how complex Clive is. He was driven to violence because of how the government treated him and his family, but he never truly wanted to hurt people. He was without any hope and thought mass destruction would finally bring some change to the government, but he also made sure to include Layton in his plans because he so desperately wanted someone to stop him. It’s tragic and terrorism definitely wasn’t the way to go but at least this is a fictional story and that death machine looked kinda sick Ngl. The story of Layton and Claire was also so tragic yet so healing. Layton could finally take off his hat without feeling grief, you never would’ve known he was hurting that much. I loved Claire, she seemed like such an amazing person and I’m glad Layton wasn’t swayed to try to bring her back, although he did falter when he had to say goodbye again. Although I highly enjoyed the game, I am slightly disappointed there was no actual evil Layton. How fun would a game with evil Layton be omg. The whole game constantly caught me by surprise, even by small scenes like Beasly and PUZZLETTE. I’m still a littel confused about the lab experiments with Gumbo and subject 3, I’m not quire sure why they added that plot (and have no resolution) but I liked Gumbo fine. My favorite coin animal will always be hot dog though. I cannot recommend this series enough, I am having the time of my life. I can also see how DGS was heavily inspired by these games and im so glad about it bc dgs was game changing. I can’t believe there was a 26 year wait in between UF and NWOS but im glad to be a Layton fan :’) so fucking glad!!!!

Inks tattoos are NOT consistent! They change constantly no ones ever seen them change or move but every time ppl see him they r different n no ones quite sure why or how (they just sillay like that :D)

Error n Nightmare are canonically married. no ones quite sure how or when that happened or. why (are they in love romantically? the answer is debatable. they are married!!) this has no relevance to most of the story they r both just freaks like that (affectionate)

Ok slightly lore relevant but i wanna add this one too so error doesnt really? exist properly in time??? bcs technically error is one of the "younger" created gods but also it kinda. slipped thru a crack in reality and thats how we ended up here (antivoid) so its not just taht it has a bad idea or weird perception of time it just. physically exists outside of linear time. so error technically became way after nightmare but nightmare knew error as existing before her bcs of errors time fuckery. nightmare is aware of how error functions but the only one(s) who can properly perceive time before error existed and after are reaper and life. Ink also doesnt really exist properly in time but in a less obvious way? ink has a definitive start of creation date but is aware of everything that happened before that he just didnt exist in it,,, after his creation tho? very debatable how he works in time. the only ones hes really close to is dream n error and dream is not sure and you will never get a proper answer out of error lmfao

I love loona

Loona was my life but I've lost the same passionate feeling I've had for them years ago, I'd fill notebooks with details about them, I'd imagine in my head designs for their performances/stages/outfits and sub-units, I'd plan out stories on their lore... nowadays I've stopped but still I'll share what descriptions I use for them:

Heejin:

Passionate on the outside pretty much a dork on the inside it's Loona's dangun (founder), Heekkie <3

(Heejin mentioned how the company (FUCK BBC) always told her to look soft, innocent and natural (its a shame because she looks good with the contact lens), nowadays she has a more charismatic and i'd say 'sharp' public image especially the heejin in ARTMS, I think the closest she's ever come to this during loona era is the Not Friends MV) and about expectations... she's always done the best of whatever concept that the company would throw at her so i shouldnt be that surprised at how well she's doing now)

Hyunjin:

The girl who will one day tilt the world on its axis, by being sheer impossible to figure out, it's Loona's barking Aeongie <3

(I'll admit out of everyone I've always thought she'd be the first one to leave and pursue an acting career but then again she had the longest trainee time if im not mistaken so maybe this shouldn't be a surprise (she will sing no matter what), to me in Loona she'd always been this mischievous weird character but nowadays i think she has a bit more soothing quality to her that matches her voice maybe after she became a leader she mellowed out slightly. Her voice in 'Lady in the Rainy Night' on King of Masked Singer is my favourite ever pls pls sing an ost pls)

Haseul:

She's the woman god told you to fear, with a swish of her wand the mighty would tremble, it's Loona's momseul <3 #Always_With_Haseul (please this is so cringy)

(omg who is this sexy woman wowwwwww again public image of her that ive had before was cozy... mum but elegant... but cozy idk? again ARTMS totally changed the 1/3 girls,,, she looks sharper? nowadays but you know she's always been described by the rest of moon girls as the one that'd wear high heels to the salon even if there was nothing on their schedule and she's always had a rich girl feel to her so i think this side of her isn't new at all, still waiting for her to showcase her opera skill on an official song though)

Yeojin:

YEOJIN THE WOMAN THAT YOU ARE (she's always been my bias and when she was in BBC I was so glad that they let her open her ig acc because she slayed like pose, face card, body ATE anyhow the difference between her now and her then is she is expressing her more sensual (like that sunmi's full moon cover)? side which is something i know BBC wouldn't have let them do)

Vivi:

A deer, shy and reserved but oh so powerful, her potential untapped, its Loona's adorable matnae, Hwang Ara <3

(Viviiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii I have to be honest i never understood other people's obsession with her while she's in loona but I get it now lol she's so.. chill? and effortlessly funny, but out of the 12 her image I'd say is the most constant thing ever since loona days I'd like to see her do a spooky concept or what and completely shed her innocent soft image that she did since predebut girl like do some horror concept or what (i think she wants to as well) and maybe like... youtube channel? pls vivi)

Kim Lip:

Tsundere and chic but you can hear her pterodactyl scream from a mile away it's Loona's meme Lippie <3

(I think kim lip as well haven't really changed as much? or maybe it's because I don't pay attention to artms as much as loossemble my bad but anyways even during loona era I noticed she's very very ambitious and determined that i thought maybe she'd release another solo song? or go solo but she's a good team player and even when she's considered as like main vocal in loona (considered by fans because they didnt have official titles) I've always thought her voice was underutilized, thank god she's free)

Jinsoul:

Her voice is like a pattering of rain as it calms your soul, her humor impossible to ignore, it's Loona's Jindori <3

(Jinsoul... wow where do I start, I love her voice, I'm glad Odd-eye is still going strong and I love love the idea of her self-composing, producing writing and all that on an entire album and maybe releasing a song like 'As Time Goes On' ...pls? and whoever is styling the artms girls... chef's kiss to every single stylist coordinator wtvr because they've looked great since debut also i m glad she chose tiger now as her representative animal instead of continuing with the blue betta fish bs cuz thats too specific lol)

Choerry:

She's the sun, so bright you can't really approach her, giving you warmth it's Loona's Choili <3

(Choerry has always been portrayed by BBC as this very bright, very cheerful girl and she is,, but in ARTMS we get to see a more sentimental poignant image of her AND IM GLAD because she kills it, i wish loona was given the chance to explore darker concepts like this but anyways she's one of the reason why i was okay when Loona split up because I'll be honest outside of the stage she doesn't attract my eye at all, loona has some really big personalities and with 12 people it's hard to pay attention to each individual, she shines more in ARTMS)

Yves:

Known as the bellybutton thief, she has the world in her grasp, it's Loona's comedian Yves <3 (wtf sheprobably did 1 random thing but idk why ive attributed that fact to her thats so weird)

I JUST NEED SOME SPACE (I love her song!! I love the creative direction she's going!!! I love it all and she's so good at it, I love the dancing skills she showcase! Her song is so her and idk how to describe it any other way, if you notice the kind of pictures/selfies she posts on insta, the vibe of those pictures are like the songs she's releasing, so everything she releases feels so authentic and I wouldn't trade it for anything else (diorama remains as my fav))

Chuu:

Winning everyone's hearts one by one, one at a time, it's Loona's lesbian icon Chuu<3

(I knew she'd go solo at some point and I'm glad she did I absolutely love her songs and especially the fact that she's singing a full song instead of just the high note or the random rap added in (Chuu's howl has a special place in my heart). it's kinda crazy how she's able to feel so... sincere? and after the whole boycott fiasco I see a new side of her, I thought she's this cutie pie, harmless and entertaining and she's that but she's also fierce, protective and steadfast. I never doubted her ability as a singer but I kinda want to see her release an album that mixes howl and strawberry rush vibes)

Gowon:

Her voice shakes you to your core, her rap even more so it's Loona's kind, crunchy, godwon <3

(This photoshoot with mu_gung shook me to my very core Idk how to explain it but when you have someone that looks incredibly doll-like do a concept like this it's so... beguiling? enchanting? It's like seeing an ethereal being in a forest luring me in. Anyways Gowon's got potential, she's so charming and she has what it takes to succeed but even in loossemble I've never seen her tap into her potential? so to speak, I think she needs a change in approach to the idol stuff since now there's an oversaturation of cutesy idols, I want her to do something like babymetal)

Hyeju:

Assarabia, columbia, don't raise up, don't put down Loona's boss baby and watermelon-carver, Hyejoo <3

(gosh where do i even start with Hyeju? From the very start she has been one of the most popular, most well-liked but BBC photoshopped her so many times that if I only judge her from their social media back then i'd have thought she's least-liked. She talked (publicly) about her hardship as a trainee the most I think, I wondered how badly they treated the girl. Anyways my most lasting impression of her was near her debut where she stuck her head out of acar and said "Look at me! Look at me from now on! Don't look at anyone else" and honestly yeah it's hard to tear your eyes away from her especially now)

I honestly don't know what to say I miss them and I miss the me that was a fan of them, writing this actually reignited my love for them but unfortunately I can't dedicate my time actively watching and cheering them on anymore and it's a shame, I hope the girls thrive for a long time after this,,,

1 - 01/11/2023 : my half of an art trade with @toxicbunny from last year, i never posted it here oops, but its of her OC Luan <333 he was so fun to draw and im super happy with the results, esp playing around with texture a bit

2, 3 - 18/11/2023 : some random headshots of Heidi n Jasmine, think with Jasmine i was trying somethin a lil different with her hair

4 - 18/11/2023 : pen doodles.... a bit of trying to figure out some more human ttte designs, not perfect ofc, still naawt concrete on any kind of James design, like i know how he looks, but drawing hard </3 Thomas is also there hehe

5 - 18/11/2023 : another Heidi :D i think i wanted to draw her with her hair up like that, erm, i forget, but hey JTHM shirt, very epic, it was on my mind, i had the silly idea post-drawing this that she has insomnia and the shirt is an inside joke, coz she thinks shes funny

6, 7 - 18/11/2023 : (only by a margin coz i was drawing late again) lil human Diesel pen doodles again, this time we're doing the REDESIGN!! almost there anyway. mostly just a redesign of his hair somewhat, also Philip is just there (much like the show (jk i kinda love Philip for no reason other than hes a little guy)) not much to say here other than drawing bad on purpose is fun x

8 - 25/11/2023 : was thinking about book covers, forgot why, but also on the name of my story for Ru, Toni, those fellows, usually i just call it Violet, but i feel maybe its a bit, nothing, idk, like its not catchy enough, so i have another idea of expanding it into You, me, & Violet, and heres a quick mockup of what a book cover for it could look like.. u can tell i got graphic design qualifications from the late 2010s x (shut up i luv this doodle)

9-11 - 25/11/2023 : Robin redesigns.. again.. just some concept doodles, mostly just a change to his hair and his top, i thought adding more colour was essential, so, he'd usually wear like minty green colour trainers, i made those and, by extension, his jumper, the same blue colour, which isn't Too blue, it's still a little bit greeny, very slightly, just for some harmony in his design.. will need to draw more of this concept to really get a concrete final design
