TATZLSQURM Long Body Pokémon

Ht: 10′ - Wt: 110lbs

Tatzlsqurm create intricate networks of burrows and warrens under the forest floor, which they use to pounce unexpectedly on Rattata and Raticate, as well as evade their own predators.

Nobody is quite sure where a Tatzlsqurm’s body ends and its tail begins. Their fur is extremely soft and was highly prized as a luxury pelt in the past, resulting in their current scarcity.

Sample Moves: Coil, Play Rough, Morning Sun, Crunch, Body Press, Body Slam, Double Edge, Quick Attack, Dig, Iron Tail, Aqua Tail, Drain Punch, U-Turn, Sucker Punch, Elemental Punches

As before I’m trying to revamp the Johto mons with new designs that: A) I personally prefer, B) Make them more competitively viable, C) Have a bit of biology / ecology / mythology stuff thrown in there, and D) Fit the theme of the original mon and of Johto itself. 

So I really like Sentret but I’m fairly lukewarm on Furret; even though it is cute I think it loses a bit of charm when it evolves. So I’m evolving it back to its roots here. 

When I was first designing this guy I was actually going for a normal / bug typing, and they had like 6 little legs where the legs are on the final design, but no matter how i drew them they looked a bit too much like nips so I scrapped that. But there are remnants of its bugness it with top paws supposed to be mandible-like, and originally the ears were more like sentrets to seem like antenna, but i prefer the cat ears to tie in a bit more of furret’s design. 

 I think I justified the bug typing as it being effective vs. the normal / dark alolan rattata, but fairy works just as well for that and what with the clefable-y azumarill-y face and stuff. Plus later on I was like wait whats a tatzelwurm again and looked it up and it turns out its like a cat with a snake bod so i was like sick theres the fairy type justification. 

So in gen 2 sentret only appears during the day and rattata only at night, so to further emphasize this guy as a counterpart to the rattata line (particularly alolan rattata) I made it more sun themed. The circle and markings are supposed to look a bit like a sun, but i feel like that became a bit too subtle as i kept drawing. 

In terms of stats and abilities, I really wanted to design it around using coil cuz that’s one of my favourite set up moves. So I decided on giving it hustle so you can use it as a risky banded mon or a mon that really benefits from coil’s accuracy boost, and fluffy also benefits from boosting defence with coil alongside morning sun recovery to make it a tankier mon. And then yeah just better stats without being too extreme, just a good speed tier and decent attack. 

And finally the name, I was trying to think of a good -ret suffixed name for ages, and i acknowledge what i went with is clunky as fuck but it gave me early gen vibes with the 10 character limit, so im happy with it.  (Tatzelwurm + Squirm + Worm)

So yeah, even though part of me is like dude all you did was make a giant fat long sentret, I’m actually pretty happy with this guy.

“Gentlemen, this is the room. The Final Control Room.”

Eret's voice rang through the Discord call as he led them to the Final Control room. He quickly moved his Minecraft character into the darkened room, the rest of them checking the chests. As he was about to press the small wooden button, he felt a tug at his chest. It was like his very soul had been pulled, and he was falling through the threads and weavings of reality.

Colors were flying past him faster than he could process, sounds of all kinds could be heard but they were either too distorted to understand. In this cacophony of distorted mess, Eret could only think of one thing.

"What the fu-"

"-ret? Eret, what- hello?" He heard a voice next to him. He was in a dark room, hand hovering over a wooden button. Instinctively, he pulled away from it.

"Guys? What the..." Eret tried to ask but trailed off. He wasn't at his computer desk anymore, this wasn't just a game on a 2D monitor, he was actually there. He saw the intricate polished blackstone all around him, the empty chests that were at the sides of the room and everyone wearing their L'manburg uniforms, just like the Minecraft skins.

"Eret? Are you alright?" Wilbur asked. Even though it looked and sounded like Will, something wasn't right. He wasn't speaking through a microphone on Discord, he was right in front of him.

"I- I don't know- what the fuck? What's going on?" Eret turned to them, hoping for some kind of explanation. They looked at him incredulously.

"Hold on, what did you just say?" Tommy asked him.

"I said, what's going-" Eret didn't have time to finish when he felt a sharp sting in his neck.

Instantly, he collapsed to the ground, his muscles giving out on him as energy drained from his body. The sounds of bodies falling to the ground surrounded him as each of his friends fell alongside him. He tried to scream, but his mouth wouldn’t open. Fear rushed through his veins.

An iron needle clattered to the ground next to him, the tip coated with an iridescent gray mixed with blood. He watched as the strange mixture seeped into the cold, stone ground.

A shadow loomed over him, a porcelain mask leering down. "Eret, you were supposed to be on our side. I’m glad I came prepared.”

His blood ran cold. That was Dream. A person he joked around with and played with in Minecraft. Dream's voice sounded precise and calculated, like a hunter waiting to strike. The cold voice pierced his mind, causing him to panic. He needed to run. He needed to get out of there.

“Oh well, it's nothing that can’t be easily fixed,” The gleaming white mask seemed to be staring into his soul, reading his every thought and emotion. The man crouched down in front of him, a wide, psychotic grin on his face. “Perhaps this will teach you a lesson.” Dream glanced up at someone and nodded. “Take care of him.”

Someone was walking towards him. Eret could hear the soft footsteps against the cold, stone ground. He couldn’t move his head to look, no matter how desperately he tried.

His eyes darted around the small room, trying to take in his surroundings from where he lay. His stomach lurched as he made eye contact with Wilbur on the other side of the room. His friends' eyes were filled with raw terror, laced with an undertone of betrayal.

The glint of pain and betrayal was burned into his mind as a boot came down on his head, knocking him out cold.

Its really good, to actually understand why Rika/Mina/Serena turned out the way she was.

i mena i already forgave her in the V ending

but even though she did those bad things, if someone just loved her and didnt feeed her with horrible views of the world, she was still a caring girl even though the darkness took a hold of her,

Im not glad of what happened to her, but if it didnt we would have never even met anyone. so as mucha s i hate to say it, im glad of what happened, and 100% glad we could help her through with it.

The shit they do in the first age?? really doesn’t overlap that much. you can handwave a lot of it, especially since the manuscript we have is a coppy of a coppoy of a coppy of something that was probably shoddily translated, YOU KNOW. so yeah, Finrodriel is one person in Valinor, one of ara’s kids, raised on the beach with no gender. makes the crossing to middle earth, hangs out w melian a while like galadriel did,, then goes exploring.,,, becomes king of Nargothrond,,, A N D??? 

doesn’t actually die. beren thinks’ they’re dead, but like…shit’s happening very fast and idk he’s confused somehow. because alright finrodriel SHOULD HAVE DIED. torn to pieces, dEAD, spirit may even have sort of left body, BUT!! they make some kinda desperate dark deal with SOMEONE OR SOMETHING or effect some kinda fell enchantment to get to stay in Middle Earth, because they’re afraid that if they die, they’ll never get the chance to come back, AND THEY GOT MORE SHIT TO DO, MORE PLACES TO EXPLORE, MORE FUN TO HAVE,,, THERE AR ENO HUMANS AND DWARVES IN VALINOR??? LAME??? 

anyway finrodriel takes a while to recover, is kinda psychologically scarred and undergoes substantial personality changes in response to shit that’s gone down. She also ret-cons an identity and enough people die/leave at the end of the first age that she gets away with it. Starts id-ing more as female and over the second age rISES TO POWER a the galadriel we know and love.

idk its fun cuz you get this very dramatic (& also kinda tragic) character development arc from this very open & naive sort of personality to Trust No One. Also the Dark Deal she made to get to stay is a part of the Moral Chip galadriel seems to have on her shoulder—why even after she starts wanting to go back she feels like she can’t, like she might not be forgiven or understood, etc, like she’s made some unforgivable transgression

also you get “galadriel faked her own death” which TBH iS NOT OUT OF CHARACTER. SHE WOULD

of course i’m also pretty attached to them as separate people & i love their relationship as siblings so this is more just a side-AU, but i’m pretty fucking proud of it

Personal Secret

First of all, many of you agreed it’ll be the Pirate Booty thing, which, d’oh. But is that really a secret?

Secondly, the tags used by @lambnoire speak to me:

Thirdly, most of you feel it will be a personal secret. Which might be wishful thinking, because we all thirst for more details about Barba’s personal life:

sunshine-and-the-catsuit answered: I’m kinda hoping for the relationship thing, personally. Maybe he kept emails that he shouldn’t have…or something like that. Or hid information he shouldn’t have..to help a friend.

I feel this might be accurate. Barba bending the rules (more on that below) for a lover or a friend (say, Alex Munoz or Eddie etc), out of loyalty. That would compromise him somewhat, but his motives would still be relatively pure. Depending on the rule/law he broke, of course.

revolutionarynerd answered: A sexual secret. Even in NYC a bisexual ADA for instance would raise eyebrows. My money is on Barba’s personal private life getting spread all over the news/internets in the course of a hacking operation targeting someone higher up.

an anon who likes to toy with my emotions said: Barba theories/plot bunnies; 1. It's a revenge porn ep and when the suspect('s allies) find out Barba is prosecuting they threaten to leak sexts/nudes/dating profiles b/c they do not know who they are fucking with. Barba goes ahead, out for blood & maybe even using it to score some points in court. But then after sentencing we see his private self; humiliated, confidence wilting. Not helped by the media hi-lighting his humiliation rather than his victory.

Re; Barba being in the closet: there are valid arguments on both sides. If Barba is not straight (just for speculation purposes, of course, because we’ve never seen him with a romantic partner) it’s possible he would be out and proud, because he seems like he doesn’t give a fuck about what people think of him. But it’s also possible he’d be in a glass closet, just for the sake of his job (and/or his future aspirations. I touched on this in my fic Running, btw, which involves Barba running for the DA position). So he may, in fact, want his “secret” to stay a secret.

I must say, the idea of forcibly outing Barba is interesting, because it would allow for an intense but not necessarily preachy Very Special Episode, plus we might get some awesome Raul acting in the process, but would the current writers care enough to do that well?

The idea of a forbidden affair (with a woman or a man who’s married or otherwise problematic) seems a little more likely. Especially if it’s someone else at the DA’s office, and they both get exposed. Maybe Barba would choose to fall on his sword to protect his partner? This could give us some juicy moments for sure.

At any rate, I’d love to see Barba with a crack in his armor. Either because he feels exposed, or because he’s willing to be exposed to protect someone he cares about.

Professional Secret

I love this. It might not necessarily fit with the concept of a “secret” (i.e. something Barba has been hiding) but I LOVE the idea of a frame-up. Barba would be indignant, and the squad would be supportive, they’d reassure him they don’t believe the hackers and they’ll do anything in their power to restore his reputation. That would give us a much needed glance into the SVU team dynamics, and it would show us just how much Liv and the squad value Barba. So it definitely won’t happen.

OH HELL NO Secret

an anon who likes to toy with my emotions said: (I'm paranoid it might be something like this) Barba commited/is accused of commiting a sex crime & evidence points to him doing so. If he did, he defends himself, saying he knows now it was wrong, it was long time ago, he's a different person, he's grown since then - but it alienates him from the SVU squad when they find out. The hacked info is used to discredit him and his work with SVU, & by extension squad themselves.            

NOPE.

I do like the idea of a secret which would compromise his work/the convictions he’s managed to get in his career, BUT NOPE. Like, you might be on the right track re; a secret which would paint him, the DA’s office and the squad in a bad light, and that’s the reason they all need to solve the case, if not make sure the secret stays hidden, but HELL NO.

More Hell No Secrets

Barba is in fact innocent (excluding withholding of evidence) and it's information that somehow threatens his mother. Or else, shows him burying something harmful to his mother. 5. The hacking reveals something with his health - I'd bet on psychiatric, maaaybe rehab of some kind.       

On another show, I might appreciate topics like these being explored delicately. On SVU, nah. I would love a reference to Barba’s mother/family, but the fact the DA’s office is hacked, and that’s how Barba’s secret is revealed (via his work email, basically) probably means it would involve either Barba’s work or his personal life (because he may have foolishly used a work account for something non-work-related). 

Actual Secret

@webbgirl34​ has what is probably the most likely theory, though:

With the way this season has gone, I’d be willing to lay money it ends up being something to do with Liv. Like him covering up for something for her or him doing something on the gray side to help her out.

I can just see that happening. Barba will reach out to Liv, not to reveal a personal secret which might give us some insight into his character (God forbid!), but to tell her something she already knows. Like, “Hey, Liv, remember that time I helped you with (X)? It’s back to bite us in the ass. We need to fix this, or both we could both lose our jobs.”

Imagine if Barba’s secret involves, like, Johnny D (remember, lol?) i.e. Noah’s paternity, i.e. the time Barba was perfectly willing to bend the rules to help Olivia? Or, if the writers are unwilling to rewatch their own show and revisit actual past events, what if they come up with another instance of him possibly even breaking the law, just to help Liv?

Last season, we did see a Barba who followed the rules and ratted on Liv/Tucker, but arguably that was because he was mad/jealous. Or, because he really was that stringent about the law (lol). Maybe we’ll go back to rule-bending Barba? In a ret-conned way (since we won’t actually witness said rule-bending)? We’ll hear about a made up past incident, a plot contrivance, to better sel the “secret” angle?

Again, I can totally see this happening. I just hope it doesn’t. Even though it would likely be better than a potentially compromising, salacious and deeply personal secret.

i don't have an ao3 account so i'm sending it here, but the whole fuck konoha concept is so good and this new chapter was really nice! i was really looking forward to see naruto's confrontation with himself and it was so realistic but satisfying to read; tbh every character seems so human and like they all have their own thing going on and this affects their relationships with each other which i imagine must be hard to convey in a fic based on shonen lol so congrats! also i wasn't expecting to care about obito (and kakashi) but his perspective was really interesting so hopeful to see that again too. you asked on the notes about posting and i'd prefer to see the last chapter split in two smaller halfs personally. hope you have a good day!

im so glad you enjoyed narutos confrontation at the waterfall of truth!! i had redone that scene like 3-4 different times, mostly because i didnt want to change it so much from canon, but i wanted to showcase how narutos denial and avoidance was NOT the move that kishi had portrayed as positive growth. the seed has been planted about konohas awfulness for quite some time, and naruto knows that—knows he cant live in denial and be happy. but he's not ready to accept that yet. it was a hard line to draw but im glad it was realistic and satisfying!

and what you said about them all seeming human and the relationships that form from that—thank you! honestly kishi had a blueprint and i just took it and expanded on it! some of them were kinda hard to expand on (like kakashi's and sakura's relationship that is like semi-existent in canon and then dropped lol)

also thank you about obito and kakashi! obito, and majority of the uchihas, are written so... 1-dimensional in terms of goals and morality to make them the 'bad guys' of naruto and i just feel like obito has so much to offer. i didn't want to make him a 'good guy' for the sake of being a good uchiha, or 'villainize' him so that theres another bad guy, but another traumatized person from the shinobi system. mostly just how i wouldve written him if i could have. kakashi the same. i didnt wanna erase the fucked up shit he did and with all the ret-conning and timeline confusion especially with those two i had to make my own timeline/events that would make more sense. im so glad you want to hear more from them! <3
