Bruce finally feels settled in his role as batman. Dick just went to college, the Justice league is doing well and he's got a new Robin. So he decides it's finally time he made his parents proud and finish medical school (and totally not because he wants to be in college at the same time as dick, that's ridiculous Alfred).
Obviously since he's the prince of Gotham he can't really go to Gotham U without being recognized or harassed and since he owns half the buildings he knows he won't be treated fairly so he decides to study in Metropolis.
This is how he ends up in a communication and ethics elective class with a Clark kent, a journalist for the daily planet who is getting his PhD. They slowly develop from strangers to study buddies and maybe even more while Bruce balances academic pressure, with being batman and a dad to dick 2.0 jason.
As the year goes on and he has to deal with assignments, group projects, literal teenagers and not always being perfect Clark's apartment slowly becomes a safe space as he learns to ask for help and accept change.

Some days I'm normal, other days i think about how maybe the only reason Kaeya survived his fight with Diluc was because every cut made by that claymore was cauterized immediately because of the pyro :(

ive been thinking about the KSA cult quite a bit lately and yk, while maybe this isnt how youre intended to interpret things, i find seeing the situation was hyness could have chosen between just dropping the "awaken the dark lord" plan because the heart was slowly corrupting him into insanity, and just continue living with the girls he raised, or go through with it even if it means losing himself and risking their safety, and he ultimately prioritized his own goals of revenge above his daughters is very fascinating, specially considering star allies themes of friendship and bonds, its already there with his present mistreatment of them in comparison to kirbys neverending love for his friends, but giving him far more responsibility in what he did because he always chose his own goals before the girls.oh man do i love narrative contrasts.

I still like to cling onto the idea that although the boys built the ladder to heaven so Kenny could give them the ticket for free candy, they also potentially wanted to see him genuinely. And I know I'm lying to myself but shut up I don't care let me have this. And also later on when randy asked them "wait... So you only wanted to go to heaven for some candy?" Kyle actually started talking about how there might not be what they think is heaven, or it might not be what they think, or that it's just a concept and anything could be heaven, instead of refuting the idea that they wanted to go heaven for Kenny and not just Kenny.

My favorite house are the Deer and my OTP are both GD, so I tend to write most of my fics in VW, but I think the scenario I actually find the most fascinating in terms of... character exploration potential? is actually Silver Snow. Because there, all three lords lose, and the only person who remains to do the hard (and ungrateful) work of rebuilding is Byleth.
(And tbh even if it's not SS specifically I just really like any kind of scenario where all three lords lose miserably. I love good whump and I really love stuff that leans into despair of "everything I did and everything I lived for all amounted to nothing," that's the good shit)
For Dimitri and Edelgard, I think it's fitting and poignant if they both die in scenarios where they don't win; for Claude, though, I really like the idea of him being alive in SS or any "all three lose" scenario, but never getting to yield political power again.
And because he survived, he doesn't even get to be heroized or romanticized like Edelgard and Dimitri. Maybe if he had good results with his schemes, he'd be a genius and the Master Tactician, but he didn't, so now he's just a lying backstabbing piece of shit, as far as public opinion is concerned, and it's extremely humiliating. Of course Claude would rather be alive and humiliated than dead and valorized, but that doesn't mean it's fun!
Plus there's the great irony of how he'd go from being unfairly hated because of his heritage, of being an outsider... to being pretty fairly hated. Like not only is he a war criminal, he is a war criminal who lost. And even before he lost he was already contentious within his own faction. His PR is not recovering.
I'm rambling here but one of my favorite aspects of Claude's character is how he holds a philosophy along the lines of "it's not the strong who survive, it's those who survive that are strong." That as long as you're breathing, there's another chance. It's a very appropriate blend of pragmatic and optimistic for someone with his background.
At the same time, that just makes me wonder how he'd react if he's killed in all ways but physical. For how laid back he acts, he's still a prince, and a politician through and through. So what's it going to be like, once he's breathing but socially and politically dead, with the blood of thousands on his hands?
What's it going to be like, once he'd outlived the two others who'd understand?
Tl;dr I love the idea of "if nothing else I'll outlive them" becoming a monkey's paw for Claude, him surviving as a pathetic cowardly loser (the exact thing he must have been accused of being since childhood) instead of a leader in a new era

finished “yellowface”. goddamn that was a ride… highly highly recommend if you like villain protagonists
#i didnt mention it as much but i liked all the stuff with the publishing industry in this and feeling like a fraud as a creative#except june is like. actually a fraud. but still#but it did resonate with me as someone whos recently realized he doesnt want to be a big name author and get too deep in the industry#like. the fear of never being known and dying without leaving an impact. bc books are a way to immortalize yourself#and the stress of wanting to be a big name even though you dont have the chops for it#and i still want to write. i love it. but i dont think i want to do it for a living yknow? and thats a heartwrenching thing to accept rn#bc its something i wanted for the longest time but i dont think my adhd will allow it for me anymore#ik none of this is the real point of the novel and obviously my experience is very different. bc im quitting before im even starting really#and im obviously not plagiarizing dead poc#but yeah i think junes a really well written villain protagonist bc her motivations are born from extreme insecurity from the industry#who cant see that poc have it even harder than her in the industry#because of tokenism and fetishism#because shes gotta be the ultimate victim#i really hope it hasnt come across like im complaining about the character or the book when i post passages#bc like yeah june fucking sucks ass. but shes SUPPOSED to suck ass. its the point. youre rooting for her downfall#and i think shes a great example of a villain protagonist like major props for kuang bc that shit is HARD to do#and a lot of the stuff it has to say about white women victimhood is great#because its the core of junes character and it defines EVERYTHING she does and really shows how insidious it all is#echoed voice

Genuine question, how tf did Carl always have clothes that fit him? Cause teenagers (especially teenage boys) grow like crazy and there were multiple instances throughout the show where the characters would be wearing the same clothes for weeks or months while they were out on the road.

im gonna be thinking about the implications of joel’s video for a long time now. why did he have to do this to me ;-;
#like. joel said the mezalean king died at the start of s2#he said he died of loneliness etc etc. establishing that he was gone#and despite how unserious joel's approach to the lore in that episode was#i am still going to be rotating it in my mind#like. the mezalean king isnt dead? either that or god joel has some kind of ability to pull things from the past#and jimmys interaction with him. the confusion over who the codfather was but the brief moment of recognition from him??#the fact that e1 jimmy disappeared at the end. presumably never to be seen again#or at least never seen again by joel. bc s1 joel died of loneliness. so he cant have seen him again#and many hc'd s1 joel as being able to bring terracotta (or other such constructs) to life- as seen with the clones in his empire#and. perhaps. in his loneliness. in that effort to get rid of that loneliness from all of his friends disappearing on him#he created something in their likeness#or perhaps just one in jimmys likeness. because they were close! they were allies! good allies!#and so he had a friend again. maybe just a friend because maybe recreating his wife was never quite right#maybe the recreations of lizzie never quite came to fruition because they were always Wrong. he could never get the details of her right#so it was just him and this recreation of jimmy. of some terracotta clone. something that could almost be mistaken as a toy if one-#didnt look closely enough#and then we have our jimmy. our s2 jimmy. who for a brief moment. seemed to almost recognise this mezalean king#he knew who he was. even though he didnt recognise the name codfather. because that's not who he is- he's just a recreation of someone that-#disappeared a long time ago#(and ik this was a popular hc at the start of s2 as well. but. this just adds MORE to it)#but that slowly disappeared (from what ive seen). until now#and now im thinking about it again. because jimmy recognised s1 joel#he RECOGNISED him#am i taking this too seriously? maybe#am i going to stop? no!#im gonna think about this#even if joel was silly about the reappearance of s1 joel. im gonna think about that wet cat of a man for a long time#s1 joel came back and he expected us to be NORMAL about it?#no#i refuse

its gotta mean something that disc two of homestuck was fucked up by terezi and had to be repaired by doc scratch and then disc (cartridge) three was fucked up by caliborn and had to be repaired by john right. like ahdjsh the discs mean so many things. disc two being literally scratched like the record scratch and healed by DOC scratch and also the corruption being caused by terezi while she was talking herself into blaming vriska for everything and murdering her and how she was kind of WRONG about a lot of it but also just the fact that events between disc two's repair and the insertion of disc three were all coming up in lord english's favor. doc scratch repaired the disc and it was always going to benefit his master's plan. but then also the hubris of caliborn fucking up the third disc when things were already going his way, as one more abstraction in how he brings about his own undoing. and also just the fact that it was JOHN, ALONE, who was able to repair the problem there. it was his quest and his power used to retcon the game over, and like. realistically, aranea caused the timeline to be doomed when she manipulated things to come back to life, that was it. getting the ring back probably would have fixed everything, even without vriska, even with rose and terezi both being somewhat out of comission. but terezi did the same thing again and let herself get carried away about vriska, this time in the opposite direction, and meddled until there was a stable timeline with vriska alive in it. undoing what she did when disc two was scratched in a much more active way than john probably would have left to his own devices (because john definitely doesnt have the same regrets about vriska as terezi does). and maybe it even means something the way act seven and end of act six felt cheap and unresolved, though it probably doesnt bc [obligatory hussie hates the fans]. idk tho just thinking
