Soundwave is a very logical and goal orientated bot, it doesn't even really occur to him that he isn't good

After all, his goal in achieving robots and mechanical beings as the rulers not the workers is going to benefit all kind of mechanical life

So he really has no problem with you per se, but with the cause you align yourself

It's really a shame as well, you would be such a good ally

even if you don't end up becoming a Decepticon, as long as you don't hinder his plans too badly he can accept you as someone who will see reason when the time arrives

With your kind attitude, he knows you will get used to it, when the time arrives, and then you can maybe become even more than friends

A thing that he especially loves your sweet and caring behaviour towards his cassettes

He cares deeply for them, so to have you treat them so gently makes his feelings go wild

Blitzwing

Blitzwing is a rather loyal bot, so he doesn't like you insisting he's actually good deep down

Icy simply ignores your insistences and tries to correct you, even if he pulls his punches in a way he would never admit

Hothead on the other hand sees your kind behaviour as a personal insult

Hothead doesn't change too much, he's not one for too soft feelings and attempts to show you that he could protect your sweet nature easily

He does also love to give you words of affection, where Icy prefers gifts

Random loves to spend time with you no matter in what way, as long as you're close and having fun

Though his fun is relative, he does attempt to make it fun for both of you

Lugnut

Your chances of actually winning Lugnut over are very low

He is a warrior and not necessarily the smartest, but he is loyal as all hells come

There is a use in bots that have a talent with words that he can acknowledge

But there is already one bot whose words have pulled him into an orbit

He might develop some kind of crush on you, due to your kind side, but unless you change to the Decepticons he will most likely never act on it

But sometimes he likes to think of you, not as an Autobot, but a Decepticon like him and imagine what it could be like

Those times are very rare, however

Shockwave

Shockwave is at the same level of loyalty as Lugnut and there is very little that could make the Decepticon reconsider his opinion

He thinks it's rather cute how you attempt to convince him that he isn't actually that bad and good deep down

During his time as Longarm Prime, he had seen your kind behaviour directed towards many bots for various reasons

It's a no-brainer that he took advantage of that several times

But still, even as useless as your endeavour is, he can't deny that you're cute

Maybe, just maybe, he should get himself a little souvenir from Cybertron

Surely Megatron wouldn't mind his spy indulging himself with a cute little prisoner

He'll show you how wrong you are with your opinion, but don't worry, he'll give you a very long time to attempt to change his mind

Depending on how forceful you behave, you'll stay with the Decepticons for a very long while, or he'll set you free, because he grows too fond of you

He will deny having any good in him vehemently

The moment you start to talk, he'll talk over you and don't you even think of speaking over him

That's actually the first thing he really notices

Sure, he knows you exist, but he only starts paying attention after he notices that you actually let him do his speeches and listen as well

It's surprising

He pays more attention, and he can't help, but be very pleased by the attention you give him, no matter if it is to convince him he's actually good or some bullshit

At first, he only uses you to stroke his own ego

But as time goes by he starts to really care for your validation

He'll search you out in fights and outside of fights

Megatron

Making sure your attention continues to stay on him at all times, no matter what

You don't stand out to him at first, and it is unlikely that he will notice you in a broader setting

But when it comes to a one on one meeting things change

You're so small in comparison to him, most Autobots are, and usually he doesn't care much for it beyond battle advantage

He brushes your words off at first

From his point of view, he is the good guy

But as you keep running into each other, he can't help but note that you seem far more innocent than even your fellow Autobots

You try to see the good in every thing and every one, and you help where you can

It's hard to imagine a bot like you being a product of an Autobot lead Cybertron

He is impressed that you have not yet consumed the propaganda every Autobot seems to believe and hopes that it will stay the case for longer

Once he notices that he is growing fond of you, he reverses your situations

Where you have tried to appeal to him before and bring out his good side, he now attempts to appeal to you and win you over to the Decepticons

Hi RK! I think about you a lot as far as seeing the writer I want to be out in the wild. You self-published, right? Do you have a Guide for those of us wanting to follow your path, or advice on Where to Look for going in the self pub direction?

Hello and thank you so much!! I apologize if this gets rambly- there's a lot to cover, and I hope you stick with me through it.

I am indeed self-published! Everyone's situation and goals are different, but for me, I work full-time, write on the side, and want to push out professional-looking books because...well, because I want to. I currently don't plan to move to writing full-time, and I do have a job that helps cover the costs of an editor, cover designer, etc.

That's all important to establish up front, because that majorly impacts basically everything else about my strategy.

Because I work full-time, I can't write as fast as other folks. I also don't have as much time to spend on marketing. But because I work full-time, I can set aside money for a line editor, a cover designer, a proofreader, and an illustrator if needed, as well as cover a website, pre-order goodies, author copies for giveaways, a BookFunnel subscription, etc.

So, with all that...

Step 1:

Assess your goals, your abilities, your limits, and plan your strategy around that.

I realize that sounds really vague, but there are so many aspects to self-publishing, and so many things that can either cost $0 or $1,000, that it's worth jotting down the following first:

What you are comfortable & proficient with doing yourself (cover design? proofreading? making your own pre-order swag?)

What you have time for (things like social media, newsletters, and designing your own cover all take time)

What you have the money for (if you're going to spend money on anything, the conventional wisdom is cover design + editor)

What you have the energy for (book release speed, marketing, etc)

What your end goal is (publishing for fun? for a career? for something in between?)

Once you have all that jotted down, I'd plan out the following (and this is really starting from square one):

Your Books' Content

What genre do I want to write in? And do I want to put effort into targeting a sub-genre or sub-sub-genre (a successful strategy for career-focused indie authors), or would I prefer to keep myself flexible for creative purposes?

How much research do I want to put into this genre? A lot of intense indie authors will read a ton, research genre expectations, analyze tropes and covers, etc. But if you're just having fun, that's totally cool!

How quickly do I want to write? And the corollaries: do I want to write a bunch at once, then rapid-release? Or write and release one at a time?

What do I want my editing process to look like? I'd consider things like beta readers, sensitivity readers, and professional editors and/or proofreaders. (For later: don't forget about front and back matter, like copyright pages, acknowledgments, "leave a review and sign up for my newsletter!" pages, etc.)

Your Author Presence & Marketing

How do I want to appear as an author? Do you want to go all-out with a website, newsletter with reader magnets, Patreon and/or social media presence? Or pick and choose a few/none of those things? These are major time-sucks, and the conventional wisdom is that you don't want to try everything at once (particularly social media sites). Master one thing first, then move on to the next. (This is a, uh, do as I say and not as I do kinda situation...)

How do I want to handle cover design? Maybe the most important part of marketing besides your blurb. Please please don't skimp on it.

How do I price my books? Check other books in your genre and see what their average cost is.

What do I want my release strategy to look like? Pre-order goodies? ARCs? Giveaways?

Do I want to participate in any promos or paid advertising? The answer is typically 'no' at the beginning, but I've found BookFunnel to be helpful when it comes to distributing reader magnets and joining group promos.

The Technical & Business-y Aspects

(Not things you have to worry about right now, but things to eventually research and keep in mind.)

What format will my books be in? E-books are cheaper to produce than paperback and net you higher profits. But if you really wanna hold your book in your hand (like me) and write in a genre where readers buy paperbacks, then it could be worth planning for that as well.

How do I want to distribute my books? There are a ton of ways to distribute your book. Amazon, IngramSpark, Draft2Digital, Gumroad, Itchio, selling directly on a personal website, etc. If you also want your books in libraries and brick-and-mortar stores, that will impact your distribution strategy.

How will I typeset/format my book? You can do it through Word or Scrivener or even Reedsy's site, but there are also paid programs that make it easier and freelancers who can do it for you.

What sort of licenses do I need to sell books? The really not-fun part. Check your federal, state, county, and city for any required selling permits, business licenses, and tax rules. I'd also look into if you want to set up a DBA ("doing business as") or an EIN (basically a business tax ID number so you don't have to use your personal SSN).

What sort of ID numbers do my books need? For example, in the US, you need ISBN codes sold by Bowker. Not required for ebook, but required for paperback, with a separate code needed for hardcover, translations, or subsequent editions.

How do I copyright my books? For the US, it's the US Copyright Office.

(US Only) Do I want an LCCN (Library of Congress control #) for my book? This helps you get into libraries. If you want a #, you need to fill out a form before your book publishes.

Resources!

I realize this is a LOT to research. Please don't feel like you need to do all the research at once or know everything right away. Put most of your focus into writing and set aside some time to tackle the other topics as you go.

There are a lot of people out there making money off writing resources, aka selling mining equipment to the miners rather than mining themselves. There are thousands of self-publishing gurus with books, consultation packages, sales funnel advice, etc. Before you throw a lot of money at those resources, do some research and take a look at what other indie authors recommend first. (If it helps, I really do trust David Gaughran, Tammi Lebrecque, and Becca Syme for starters.)

I've never been inspired to make a fanfic before, heh. Your my favorite fanfic writer and so I thought I would ask you how you decided to write and post your fic. Thanks, if you respond!

How exciting, welcome to the start of a wild journey! I'm flattered by the pick. :}

First up, you need to have an idea, which you have accomplished.

Next, you need to probe further with that idea– what are the specific scenes that make this story worth it to you? What are the emotions, which tiny details of the moment make you go a little bit feral? I usually pick out the climax scene and maybe some random ones that just get me thinking regardless of where in the story they are. Once you get those, hold onto them; they will help get you through any rougher patches of "oh god I do NOT want to write this part" because you will and you must if you want to get to The Scenes.

Next up, battle plans. They don't have to be detailed, but you want to write down a beginning, middle, and end. They can change as you write but you do NOT want to start on a journey with no idea what direction to head from chapter to chapter. It ends badly.

"Well, where do I start writing?"

You can do the beginning, if you know it. I always look back at the plot chart if I need help on figuring out where exactly that should be; pretty much every solid story establishes their character and then kicks off the rising action to start the point of the story, which is how the character will then change over the course of your work. With fanfiction, the exposition can be almost nonexistent since you are jumping off of a platform.

I think posting is rather the easy part; I use AO3 because it's simply the best place to do so thanks to the formatting and tag filtering systems. Tag as best and accurately as you can, add any needed warnings, and whatever you do make no mention that this is your first story or you can't write summaries or that it won't be good within the tags or summary.

You're fine to mention you are new at writing in the author's notes within the fic itself, of course, but I don't even check out the fics that say "sorry I'm bad at summaries, please just try reading it!" on the proverbial container because a summary can be as simple as copy-pasting a few sentences for a hook. It doesn't have to be complex, it just needs to clue people in on what you are writing about. You are marketing yourself with tags and the summary, don't try and talk people out of giving you a shot.

Most people acknowledge that fanfic is ground zero for a lot of writers, and are very kind about it in comments. It's a great thrill to get the comment notification email, one that will never go away regardless of how many times you get it.

I haven't been doing much for... quite some time. So I figured, i shouldn't return with anything less than the 47 disguises as a nude art model idea that I had aaaages ago.

While he was taking out a corrupt dean, you were settled in an art class, happy to be seated around an empty stage.

You were right there and he was fairly certain that being naked in front of you wasn't appropriate for this stage in your relationship... but... The art teacher seemed quite taken with him. Where the fuck did he go? Finally you realize he's settled in a chair in the dark corner, swathed in shadows as he watches the two of you. His eyes glitter like obsidian, unblinking.

"That means the Ghost."

Fitting.

"And the Russians think he's the bogeyman or some shit. What do they call you? The Baba Yaga?"

John huffs in acknowledgement, but you can't help but pause. "Isn't that the witch that lives in a shoe?" You laugh to yourself, knowing you're a little drunk, and crazy for thinking out loud, but unable to stop yourself. "No, it's a house on chicken feet. She's a scary old woman."

Tex grins, looking over to John in his corner. "That so?"

"I didn't give myself the nickname."

He sounds almost grumpy about it, and Tex chuckes. "Guess they didn't do their research while they were shitting their pants."

You wrinkle your nose, and he laughs at you. It's the laugh from before, in the diner. Joyful, a little wild. The laugh that made you want to follow him into his car, before it all went to hell. It promises fun, and adventure ahead. It inspires an involuntary warmth in your chest.

You must have a screw loose.

"You kinda sound like a fan boy for him, Tex," you tease.

"Nothin wrong with acknowledging greatness in your professional field." This is partially muffled by his mouth against your shirt-- traveling downwards.

"And--" You grab fistfuls of his soft dark hair, hoping to distract him from his intended target. His solid weight pressing you down into the mattress is far too delicious for comfort. "What do they call you?

It works, and he looks up at you with his chin on your breastbone, a mischievous sparkle in his eye. "Crazy Man."

Of course.

"It doesnt suit you."

He snorts, aware that you're ribbing him.

"You know what would suit me?"

He continues his trail downward, pulling up your shirt to kiss your bare belly.

You're really afraid to ask, and he doesnt wait for you to.

"My tongue in your sweet little snatch."

Hearing him say it aloud like that makes the body part in question clench with longing.

The Stupid Lady Parts have cast their vote, but you like to think you still wield the Executive Veto.

"Maybe that would win you over?"

His teeth are in the waistband of your boxers, pulling down over your hip, when you try to squirm away from him. "Wait...don't."

"No? I'm tryin to be generous here, honey."

"I just..." The thought of that fast-talking tongue working on your aching clit fills you with equal parts excitement and dread. You cover your face with your hands, overwhelmed. "Oh God."

You know there's really not anything you can actually do to stop him. You're not even sure you do want to stop him-- only that you should want to stop him. This has been the most stressful fucking day of your life, so help you gods, and you just dont fucking know what you want. So you're surprised when long seconds go by, and he moves no further, as though he's actually waiting for your answer. You look down with tears glittering in your eyes, to find him smiling wickedly up at you.

"That's alright, darlin'. I can wait until you beg me for it."

Your heart plummets, even while your Stupid Vagina rejoices like a chorus of angels.

Somehow, you sense that you have managed to fuck yourself over so royally.

“Atonement? What the fuck does that mean?”

“It means,” Tex says with that wolfish smile, “That you hurt our feelings, and you gotta say you’re sorry.” He reaches up to coil a bit of your hair around his finger, tugging gently. Having the two of them crowding you against the wall like this is terrifying—and insanely…titillating, if you’re being honest. Your eyes follow the line of Tex’s arm up by your head, from muscular forearm to the curve of his bicep. A thing of beauty, truly.

You should not be this attracted to either of them.

“You’ve got to be fucking kidding me.”

“Nope. So now I think you have to sleep with both of us.”

John pays his partner a sliding side-eye look that conveys maybe he’s not so happy with this arrangement.

“And I gotta say, I’m feeling a little left out that you kissed John but not me.”

 You’re pretty sure John kissed you—then lightly assaulted you?—but who’s counting.

“I think she liked kissing me,” says John, claiming your attention again. “Didn’t you, honey?”

Suddenly, your mouth is dry as a desert, as you try to form a response and utterly fail. You wish you could just disappear into the wall behind you.

Now Tex’s hand is on your cheek, turning you back to him. You are getting dizzy, with all the back and forth. How the fuck do they expect you to keep up with them? You watch with fascinated horror as Tex lowers his head to you, his full mouth pressing yours. The sweep of his tongue in your mouth sends a spear of desire straight to your center; you hate it, that they make you feel this way. Pent up and helpless, needy and yet somehow so alone.

It builds in you like the fuse on a firecracker—you nip Tex’s beautiful lower lip hard enough to draw blood.

He jerks back, touching his mouth. You expect anger when he sees the blood, but he laughs. “You fucking little rattlesnake,” he growls, ducking to your neck, his big hand on your waist pinning you hard against the wall. Before you know what’s happening you feel his teeth there, at the bend where your neck meets your shoulder. He bites you hard enough to bruise, sucking for good measure so that you know there will be a mark.

The pain is sharp and you whine, squirming against them. But there’s no getting away. That’s starting to sink in a little more, and it makes your knees weak. You start to slide down the wall in your last attempt to get away from them, but strong hands hold you up. There’s a hand under your shirt, holding your bare waist. You’re not sure whose, until you realize, it’s both of them.

I FIGURED IT OUT! I FIGURED IT OUT!

Okay, so amphibian eggs hatch after anywhere from 1 to 3 weeks (on average). The tadpoles can only breathe underwater, then later as they reach young adulthood they begin breathing on land (roughly, don't quote me on the exact details this is just what I remeber from like, 5th grade biology... or something like that). Anyway, when they are adults some species can breath on land and in water.

So, WHY is this relevant? WHAT did I figure out? Sally Jackson said she only hooked up with Poseidon over the course of ONE summer. Various lines throughout RR's works have established that gods don't always have kids the mortal way (like Annabeth and her siblings being born from their mother's thoughts). Percy Jackson can breathe on land and in water (at least in his young adulthood, we don't know much about him prior to age 12 or older than 17). Therefore, we can conclude that Sally Jackson never got pregnant, and Percy hatched out of an egg. Hence I now have an answer as to how Sally was able to have a summer affair with Poseidon and Percy was born in August.

Dumb question but, in almost all of RR's works he acknowledges that in his world, reality is based off of mortal's beliefs (the gods exist because mortals believe they do, science co-exists with the gods because mortals believe in it), so... does that mean that Riordanverse Earth actually IS (or at least WAS at some point in the past) flat???
