There are a lot of experiences on this website on undiagnosised disability/those who knew something was different but didn't know what.
But not a lot of those who were aware they disabled and had a name for it early in life/offical diagnosis.
And nothing is wrong with either. I just wish one got a bit more attention.
#both are valid experiences#but i wanna see a bit more how being special education is very alienating and puts a target in your back as a kid#i wasn't a smart kid#and if you were in special education a lot kids not there treated you as not smart#lesser even#on not in but can't edit tags on mobile#actually autistic#actually adhd

Neurotypicals all need to be reminded that if you made fun of someone in school for being “weird,” you were making fun of autistic people and that’s ableist and wrong. If you don’t educate yourself and change, you’re a bad person.
Things I saw kids get made fun of for:
Walking on their toes
Communicating directly
Not making eye contact
Making too much eye contact
Having special interests
Not having the right interests
Having few friends
Trying to make friends
Being “too” happy
Feeling overwhelmed
Being shy
Not talking much
Talking too much
Having fun being silly
Being serious
Doing well in class (nerd)
Doing poorly in class (stupid)
Any noticeable stims
The way we eat
A lot of other shit
Yeah, those kids were neurodivergent and you were an asshole to them. Do you see all the contradictions in that list? You never actually had a problem with anything we did or didn’t do. You had a problem with our existence. The way we talked, walked, breathed, you bullied us for it.
What’s even more disgusting and insane:
Lots of these kids chose to spend their elective periods with the special ed kids class. Lots of them grew up to be teachers, SpEd teachers, psychologists, etc. not because they want to help autistic people, but because they want to feel superior.
A big fuck you to all of the bullies and jerks that treated us like shit simply for being different from you.
I hope you’ve changed, but I know you probably haven’t. You’re doing the same shit, all that’s changed is you’re getting paid for it now. Go to hell. (A very particular section of hell where you’re marginalized for your neurotype and forced into ABA therapy and treated exactly how you treated us).

I think a lot of the skepticism and derision toward the idea of "gifted kid burnout" stems from the fact that a lot of folks have no idea what the gifted track in most high schools actually looks like; they've got this mental image, possibly informed by popular media depictions, of "gifted kids" as a privileged group of students who get to go on extra field trips, monopolise the teachers' attention in class, and constantly be told how special they are, but who are otherwise treated identically to all the other kids.
In practice, the gifted track in most high schools – most North American high schools, at any rate – has the same problem as any other educational program: the need to adhere to published metrics. These programs exist for the benefit of students only insofar as those benefits can empirically be measured, which leads to several common outcomes:
Students on the gifted track being afforded fewer choices regarding elective classes – often to the extent of having no choices at all – in order to stream the highest-performing students into the subjects that are most valuable in terms of boosting institutional metrics.
Students on the gifted tracking receiving restricted access to educational resources such as tutoring because it's perceived as a waste of funding. In many cases, gifted students are not only denied access to tutoring, but expected to serve as volunteer tutors and teaching assistants themselves, effectively becoming a source of unpaid educational labour for the schools they attend.
Students on the gifted track being assigned considerably more homework, often literally doubling their workload in an environment where homework loads are already routinely high enough that kids have difficulty finding time to eat and sleep, simply because you get more measurable academic performance data that way.
The upshot is that the gifted track is often less about fun perks and constant praise, and more about receiving less freedom, fewer resources, and heavier workloads than one's peers, getting strong-armed into providing unpaid labour to the school on top of it, and constantly being told one should be grateful for it – and that's without touching on the fact that the unspoken secondary purpose of many gifted programs is to serve as a quarantine for all the neurodivergent kids the school couldn't find an excuse to institutionalise or expel.
Like, shit, there's a reason kids on the gifted track exhibit elevated rates of alcoholism and substance abuse compared to general student populations. That doesn't arise in a vacuum!
(To be clear, I'm not saying that people graduating from high school and immediately having an existential crisis upon realising they're not special after all isn't a thing that happens, but in my experience that's more usually something that happens to the kids who were on the football team, and reframing it as a nerd culture thing is really weird.)

Harry Potter/Genshin Impact Crossover Fun🎉
for @kiraisastay my beta reader for the big fat Eldritch AU awhile back! :)
“…a genshin/Harry Potter crossover where reader (still fem) comes from genshin (so she has a vision) and tries to fit in at Hogwarts (would love for it to be set around the Goblet Of Fire so the hp characters in that age start maturing and actually understand what happens around them and aren't little kids , plus, y'know, YULE BALL), would also like for the reader to have a more stoic/emotionless personality with tragic past (so like having scars y'knowww) cuz it makes character building a lot more juicy ahah, but you can write it however you want tho!! (this can be funnier to write if you're feeling a lot creative)”
UGH sorry i took forever! im rlly bad at estimating time...
I hope this is a fun read at least, and thanks for much for taking on that eldritch monster fic awhile back lol
☆
Orbit: Long Headcanon/fic-thing (~2k words) - Harry Potter x Genshin Impact Crossover (4th Year)
Sun: Feminine Reader (she/her), Slytherin Reader, Reader is 15-16 year old.
Stars: Harry, Ron, Hermione, McGonagall, Dumbledore, Snape, Viktor Krum, mentions of others.
Comets & Meteors: Content Warnings: Reader has rough past, & Trigger Warnings: vague mentions of scars, Reader has bad relationship with parents.
☆
You’re so fucking happy your Cryo Vision came with you.
You knew you were in a different country, one you definitely had never been to before, but you couldn’t figure out for the life of you where it was at first
Your first guess was Fontaine, but the robes and strange overuse of catalyst weapons (actually, only catalyst weapons??) began to convince you otherwise real quick,
Fontaine was just the closest country you could compare it to
yeah so obviously by the time u realized you shouldn't be waving a sword around, it was too late lmao, u scared the shit out of the potions shopkeeper and had to make a hasty exit
bc for some reason any other weapon than a catalyst is shamed here?? which makes no sense to you, as it seems like their “magic” here could just as easily be channeled into different weapons/items??
u guess not having monsters to randomly fight everytime u just wanna take a walk outside makes for a pretty peaceful world, and specifically this country ”England” or the “United Kingdom”
u had taken a week or so to re-orient yourself to this new world, how only a certain society knew about their magic, how there were no gods here, at least not any u could easily interact with, and that most people your age would be in school still???
while u could choose to pursue higher education or specialize in Sumeru’s Akademiya, basic schooling was still provided in every country in Teyvat up until about 15 years old
but at this point u were willing to do what it took to blend into this world, and u didnt want anyone to be asking how old u were/why u werent in school when you wandered around, so u went to Hogwarts
It also proved to be a good way to acquaint urself with the world/its magic and give u a place to better excuse any social or magical mistakes
But needless to say, u struggled, u had to constantly find some workaround for “magic” from the wands/catalysts in classes
and luckily they took u being a transfer student pretty smoothly, as u were just in time for the “Triwizard Tournament” to be announced and other schools were coming to participate, u easily got accepted in
and the only one who batted an eye at it was the weird old Headmaster, who u already suspected knew more abt u than he was letting on (Dumbledore seemed to have eyes everywhere the more u learned, which made u more suspicious of him too)
you'd been sorted into Slytherin, along with the Russian magical students, (Durmstrang?)
of which you had absolutely no frame of reference for how bad that was, other than being accused of literally being from the Abyss 💀
while the rest of the student body treated u with the basic contempt u learned all Slytherins just seemed to kind of get all the time, ur own house was a little more confusing when it came to you
some were curious abt all the scars, the strange glowing snowflake gem that u concealed on ur hip, what ur country was like and what the magic school over there was like (thank fuck for ur poker face and insane lying skills that made it believable)
(there was absolutely a rumor abt u pulling a sword on Filch at some point, u neither denied nor supported it)
the other half of the slytherins were all uptight about u possibly being a “Muggleborn” and sneered at u every chance they got (some weird blond kid a year or 2 below you??)
or they outright ignored u
tbh u didn't really get much genuine favor between Slytherins just being Slytherins and ur own reputation/cold disposition until Professor Snape saw how good u were at potions a month into this insanity
(it was just basic alchemy? nearly everyone, especially Vision-users, knew how to do it back home? why was it so special here?? u had this kind of question a lot in this world over most things, like the “muggles dont know abt magic” thing, it seem like more trouble than its worth.)
U both got along in the same way a cold-demeanor father bonds with his carbon copy cold-demeanor daughter lol
in which he invited u for tea sometimes out of polite extra teaching for “ur future plans of being a potion master, like myself”
which okay?? u were better than most ur age at potions bc of alchemy (which u learned is taught at higher levels of potion mastery) and its not like you've figured out how to get back to ur world anytime soon
so u just roll with that being ur “future career” for now, it makes the old emo professor happy so u figure why not
And its the first scrap of favor you’ve found here so it works
Tho u did complain at Snape for picking on Gryffindors, saying “ur rlly not helping that Slytherin reputation for tall dark and evil here”
He proceeded to make u clean and reorganize his potion stores for that lol
(Tho he did start to lighten up the more u picked on him abt it, the poor kid with huge round glasses followed you with his huge green eyes for weeks, he seems to be the only one who's really realized ur the one convincing Snape to mellow out)
U begin researching information (thanks to Snape) in the forbidden part of the library abt different worlds/time travel, anything thatd put u close to possibly getting back home
Or, to be honest, a portal would be better, bc youd like to come back here sometimes,
Its not like u have family back home (not any who you'd want to visit), mostly just a few good friends who'd be worried abt u (Childe misses his sparring partner for sure)
Which then leads u to noticing that boy with the black hair and big round glasses (was it smth like,,, harold sculptor? Atp that seems like a feasible name to you bc in this world parents rlly were cruel abt naming their kid “feathery” or smth wild)
Harold and two others, one with fluffy long hair, and the other a redhead,
Were attempting to “spy” on u from behind bookshelves or at tables seated near the forbidden section
U saw them learn the times u came there and how they made sure to match them (tho it seems the redhead got bored easily and begged to eat instead)
You'd actually managed to make friends with some Durmstrang friends in the meantime too
And by that u mean Viktor Krum mostly
Ppl were constantly obsessed with him and he'd managed to escape up the astronomy tower to get some peace and quiet,
Only to run into u reading away, and he'd heard abt ur reputation, and wanted to befriend u
U two got along rlly well, lots of peaceful silences, and chill convos, esp since u guys had some stuff in common
Mostly how ur both foreign to Hogwarts/this country and adjusting still
Anyway that is to say, Viktor teased u abt the ducklings following u around everywhere thinking they were sneaky
And this was a routine u got used to, until it was time for the tournament
You hadnt bothered to put ur name in, u didnt feel like risking ur life for no reason afterall
So needless to say u were pissed when rumors went around abt u putting Harol- Harry's name in the goblet
(u finally learned his name, apparently he's famous for not dying? As a baby?? A powerful tyrant evil wizard wanted to kill him as a baby??? Just,, why)
Not only that but then he was obligated to be in the tournament???
U knew there was smth insane abt this school, bringing back this crazy tournament in the first place, somehow getting Harry's name in the goblet,
but u didn't think they were batshit crazy.
(Dumbledore is not helping his case in your eyes, esp as u suspect he’s got Snape involved in his BS too somehow…)
So needless to say you were going to fix this mess since these seasoned “wizard adults” weren't 😒
You snuck into the Great Hall using a high level alchemy invisibility amulet, and used ur Cryo vision to extinguish the Goblet of Fire 💀
It reset the game, and luckily they were able to resubmit the champions to the Triwizard Tournament and hide away the Goblet before it got tampered with again
Lol u got Harry out of it, and it wasnt until later in the library that u get cornered by the Gryffindor fourth year himself
He admits to seeing u under his invisibilty cloak that night and thanks you for getting him out of that hell, poor kid looks so grateful 😭
But regardless of that, he insists u tell him abt the ice spell u used, how u used it wandless, with no incantation, etc.
You just gave him a small smile (his big green eyes look even more shocked behind the glasses, what, was that old professor right? do u rlly not smile that much?) and tell him he owes u one
He agrees and u go on ur way to the forbidden section
(U dont explain the ice, afterall, who would believe him? You werent even that much older, and only “master wizards” could do what u did)
After that, Harry starts to follow u around a lot more,
much to the annoyance of his redhead friend (Rodrick? Rocky? smth with a R-) and the absolute admiration of the younger girl with big hair
the champions start the first trial, and u help Viktor out with a plan to defeat the dragon and get the egg in one piece (u had lots of experience with monsters after all, and Viktor and Snape, who couldn't keep his big nose out of your business, were simultaneously disturbed and yet not surprised by this information)
it works flawlessly, and that's when you notice the new DA teacher acting suspicious
as the champions gear up for the 2nd trial, u help Viktor try to figure out the egg’s secrets,
Both Harry and Hermione have taken to interrupting ur library research time (u finally learned her name, but not the redhead, he seemed a bit rude tbh so u don't care to know)
after brainstorming (well more like talking at the brick wall that was Snape) with the old potions professor over tea gossip time again, u finally figure out how to get the egg open without screaming, and tell Viktor
Who thanks u by taking u to the Yule Ball, but u only manage the first dance before u get absorbed in the food and the cool decor, and u also convince him to gossip with u in the corner too
(u do appreciate having a reason to dress up at least, as you attempt to imitate the Tsaritsa herself with this dress)
U notice further on into the night that Hermione ran out looking upset, and ur “girl’s girl” instinct kicks in, (regardless of ur neutrality for her, u lie to urself) and follow her outside to comfort her
u talk, and tho ur cold demanour did intimidate her a little, after she realized u were genuinely trying to help her, she took u up on the offer, and asked if u two could be friends since she’s “surrounded by stupid Gryffindor boys all the time”
u agreed amused, and convinced her to join Viktor and u in ur gossip session, which Harry (after humiliating himself on the dance floor), joined in later as well
(You may or may not have iced the floor secretly under the redhead’s and the equally annoying prissy Slytherin blonde’s feet, sending them sprawling on top of each other, so neither would come bother u four)
Over the next week you hear from Hermione’s researching/studying sessions with you that Ron did apologize to her, of which u advised her to get revenge on him anyway lmao
Harry at one point came groaning and complaining to you abt Cedric bothering him abt the egg problem, and u went ahead and gave it to him
Finally the next task was here, something abt rescuing smth underwater that mattered to each of the champions
u were immediately on ur guard when Dumbledore called u and 3 other seemingly random ppl to ur office (but u began to connect the dots after realizing one of them was the little sister of the Fontai- French Champion)
only to deflect the spell that would've knocked u out, and instead pretend to be knocked out
u obv kept ur Vision on u at all times, as always, and realized what was happening as the teachers levitated u all out to the lake
Snape snapped about being the one in charge of you, (and lowkey told u he knew u were awake, did he sound a little,, proud?? no, not Snape surely of all ppl)
Viktor did end up fishing you out, which he said u “looked like a very unhappy drenched old tom cat” while swimming to shore, (u awkwardly pat him on the back for thinking ur the best part of Hogwarts, and then smacked him for getting u kidnapped to go into a freezing lake)
and u also ended up helping Viktor rescue the other girl left behind, and froze some of the mermaids’ tails in the water for their trouble
Fleur was so grateful that she came to hunt you (and Viktor too at the time) for helping her and her sister that she came to thank u two again while at the library
which then led to her sometimes hanging around ur table at the library (everyone avoids it like the plague initially bc of you, but now youve got a gaggle of wizards rotating out all the time, like the younger years Harry/Hermione/Ron, Viktor, and now Fleur)
by the time the third trial rolls around, youve taken to bullying the prissy blonde brat a year below you to keep him from not only bothering Harry and Hermione, but also ur own peace and quiet
The other Slytherins are beginning to warm up to you, or at least not actively ignore you, since you’ve been hanging around Viktor Krum, along with gaining favor from Snape more obviously (he’d plopped a singular towel in ur lap after getting out of the lake, and u might as well have “Snape’s Favorite” written across ur forehead for all that means)
(also some of them may or may not find u roasting the annoying blonde bully kid amusing too)
it isn't until u see the creepy retired Aura (or whatever they call their knights) DA professor milling about the castle more, nearer the Gryffindor tower, that you begin to warn Harry to spread the word among his little lion club to not travel alone, esp in the evenings
(u don't like how his weird rolling blue eye looks thru you, it reminds u of Dumbledore)
by the time the third trial is finally announced, you have ur sights set on that weird old man, and end up following him to his classroom at one point,
in which he cracks open a rattling trunk, tosses some food in, and seems to have definitely stolen what you assume to be the Triwizard trophy
he casts a spell on it, and you put on that same invisibiltiy amulet from alchemy to better follow him, and watch him sneak into Dumbledore’s office to return the trophy
(You break the “portkey” spell you find on it)
(you also leave a note behind on the headmaster’s desk to look into a trunk in the new DA professor’s classroom storage, and to be more careful hiring the next one.)
Harry somehow gets sucked into the maze you find out, and you end up sneaking in to save him, using your sword and Cryo Vision to battle him out
(finally, Archons, you didnt realize how much you'd miss fighting monsters)
Aurors descend upon Hogwarts, only just after the trial ends, and Viktor wins (you trained him too well for him to not, and may or may not have viciously sparred with him a little too much for him to not be a little afraid of the consequences of losing after you helped him so much lol)
Just as Harry is taken in by Dumbledore for questioning of how he got trapped in the maze, he runs back to nearly squeeze the life out of you in a hug, he tells you thanks for helping him again (and forced u to promise to teach him sword fighting or “ice magic”)
Then, surprisingly, the entirety of Durmstrang (and some Slytherins??) haul you up into the air with Viktor to celebrate his victory
(You can see Snape snickering at ur misery in the air)
Viktor and Fleur stay penpals, and the “golden trio” (more like “gryffindor triplets”) sticks around your library table
and you think you could start to get used to this, and Harry, Hermione, and Snape had gotten you a Yule/winter gift
(what’s Christmas. and why is everyone obsessed with decorating trees??)
…that is until Hermione looks over your shoulder one day at your usual reading table, and points to a book you’ve chosen for research,
saying “if you need to make a portal somewhere, that’s the book you should be looking in.”
☆
i hope you liked it!! and that it wasn't too much of a clusterfuck/chaos that was barely readable 😅

Percy Jackson as a child with ADHD (as portrayed in the new live action series)
For me, as someone who grew up with ADHD myself, pjo is super important. Rick Riordan manages to show the problems that neurodivergent people run into again and again. So, here’s some things from the Disney+ series that stood out.
1. School
Anyone who knows PJO also knows about the fact that Percy has gotten kicked from… A LOT of schools. Now, while a lot of people joke about it, Percy’s school experience is SO important.
Yes, Mrs. Dodds wasn’t your average teacher, but in my honest to gods opinion… the school system is fucked, especially when we’re talking about neurodivergent children and how they’re treated.
I can promise you I have had this conversation a lot. Obviously Percy had too. There’s not much to say about this, besides the fact that Percy was rightfully upset. Imagine getting told you’re ’special’ and ‘different’ over and over again. It’s not as comforting as it might have been intended to be.
2. Feeling Weird/Not Fitting In
People with ADHD are often seen as weird, sometimes not even human. Hell, I know how my classmates thought about me or other children with ADHD. We were weird, we didn’t fit in and we accepted that. I swear, the day ND people are treated normally is the day hell freezes over (and just not the ninth circle…)
3. Camp Half-Blood
I have talked about camp feeling a lot like special education before, but I’ll keep saying it. Sure, it’s not all great, but the relief of being surrounded by people with similar struggles to your own… it’s godly.
I remember when I was about Percy’s age, maybe younger, I was THAT kid too. Back then I wasn’t diagnosed (0/10 wouldn’t recommend) but I got along with other nd kids, because we understood eachother. Sure, we could clash sometimes, but there were also other times where we would get along because of those similarities that we shared. That weirdness that we had and other’s didn’t.
… idk how to end this so… thank u for listening to my ted talk 🪦

random question but i came across a post of yours where you talked about how mark oshiro sort of erased an aspect of nico's ADHD by making a joke about how he only liked mythomagic cards because he's gay and there are hot guys on the cards, and then TSATS also seemed to really downplay the themes of neurodivergence in the series. and it made me wonder if you have any thoughts on how the show has portrayed the demigods' ADHD and dyslexia so far? i've seen some people say that the show also downplayed it a lot, and i'm inclined to agree... which feels really weird considering that rick's own son's neurodivergence was specifically a major inspiration for him writing the series. but if i recall correctly a lot of scenes showcasing that in the first book were taken out of the show.
Oh absolutely, a lot of scenes and general discussion about adhd/dyslexia were removed in the show (and some of the disability-coding in general - i appreciate the change they made with making Chiron disabled based on his mythos rather than just using a wheelchair as a disguise, but i wish they had kept Grover's crutches in a similar manner honestly) - I've made a couple of posts discussing it: here, here, and this reblog is relevant to my opinions about the matter. There's probably some other stuff in my pjo tv crit tag.
I think the main sentiment i have regarding it - which i've seen a couple of other people mention as well - is how much the show ignores or outright removes and downplays Percy's personal struggles with his disabilities to instead emphasize Sally's experiences instead, particularly in manners of her taking out her stress on Percy - which alongside being completely antithetical to Sally's role in the books, is pretty ableist and why I continually compare show!Sally to Autism Speaks Parents. Autism Speaks tends to make an emphasis on the struggles of the parents of autistic children rather than treating autistic individuals like a person experiencing their own struggles. One of the major points of Sally's character (and later Paul) in the books is that she's an incredibly accommodating parent and works hard to make sure Percy is supported when he's struggling with his disabilities, because he's not been able to find that accommodation elsewhere. That's part of why Sally is such a great mom in particular, and is intentionally supposed to directly contrast Annabeth's home life struggles with her parents having difficulty navigating how to provide that same level of accommodation to help support her (and how Annabeth finds that accommodation at CHB instead, because that's the metaphor that CHB is supposed to represent - an appropriately accommodating system they can rely on, and then exploring how that's still a flawed system and looking at how disabled kids/demigods fall through the cracks and how to change the system to better support them).
The show also almost completely ignores Percy's ADHD/dyslexia experiences in general after the first episode. I was honestly really happy with, in the first episode, how clearly Percy's poor experiences in the American education system, particularly relating to his neurodivergence, have informed his reaction to situations such as people trying to tell him he's a demigod in coded language. It was essentially the perfect update to something i've discussed in the past here, about how the original "all demigods have adhd/dyslexia because it's secretly SUPERPOWERS" thing was presented as the basis for the series and why that teaching/parenting style fell out of favor. We see Percy in e1 acknowledge how dismissive of his struggles it is to constantly just be told he's "special" - and we even get explicit acknowledgement of how that description is used aggressively and for ostracization (from Nancy), which is extremely true to the experiences of kids who grew up with that teaching/parenting structure. But then we get to episode 2 and... all the acknowledgement of ADHD/dyslexia/etc is gone. We get at most a one-off acknowledgement from Luke that demigods are all neurodivergent and that's it. Pretty much nothing else for the entire rest of the season, save for flashback scenes that only emphasize Sally's experiences, not acknowledge Percy's. No further acknowledgement of Percy's dyslexia, or Annabeth's, or anything about their ADHD, or even Percy's completely removed PTSD (which we know for sure because of both writer commentary [see: that second post i linked about the LA Times article] and Percy's total lack of reaction to Mr. D). Nothing.
It was extremely disheartening to say the least, having such a strong start and it evaporating completely, and I fully agree with you.

Out of pure curiosity here;
So in terms of how he did in Gotham Academy or other education facilities Bruce sent him to for schooling, it was only say in one or two stories where he was the target of resident bullies while more or less canonically he was actually on the popular kids? Just wondering?
Yea! He was one of the popular kids.
Guys and girls from his class loved him and he was actually nominated to be class president
Batman (1940) Issue #202
He wasn't able to go through with it though because he was forced to miss the speech giving due to Robin duties but he would've undoubtedly won given the number of people who loved him.
Girls asked him out to dances
Batman (1940) Issue #156
They crushed on him hard for his good looks
Robin/Batgirl Year One Issue #1
He's a hit at first sight
Archie Meets Batman '66 Issue #2
He was extremely good at sports and you already know how star athletes are treated.
Batman (1940) Issue #162
It didn't really bother people that he was rich since he was cool.
Robin/Batgirl Year One Issue #1
He certainly had enough sway to get people to listen to him.
Detective Comics (1937)
Not to mention, his friends were fiercely loyal to him. He was popular because of his personality and clubs. He was also in the journalism/newspaper club too.
Detective Comics (1937) Issue #493
He also had friends from D&D
Robin & Batman Issue #3
My favorite part about his friends is that they loved to go on a bunch of random adventures like climbing cliffs and going to haunted houses.
Batman (1940) Issue #175
He did get bullied in a couple comics but considering how it happened to Bruce too, I'd say he didn't get bullied because he was unpopular. The bullies just like to feed off trauma and jealous. Actually in one of the comics, his friends get really upset when he gets bullied for being rich.
Batman (1940) Issue #192
They ambush him later but his friend hops in and helps him and this turns into a robin adventure where at the end
Batman (1940) Issue #192
But Dick Grayson is Dick Grayson for a reason. He was born to inspire. So he turns a bully into a good guy, saves the day, and upholds the dynamic duo's oath to make Gotham a better place!
Overall he was very popular. He was a star athlete, extremely good looking, rich, had a great personality, had a great relationship with teachers, held a lot of respect from the student body, was almost elected class president, and converted bullies into friends with his special power of being an overwhelmingly good person. He basically holds the same importance in his school that robin holds to the superhero community.
He's the kinda guy every that everyone knows, loves, and wants to be. The teacher's pet and class favorite.

Bruce gets a crush on Dick’s tutor but is hesitant on letting them into his life because of you know, the whole running around as a bat thing.

The life of the Batman was often lonely. Late nights and early mornings meant Bruce didn’t have a lot of time for anything other than his son and making rare appearances in public so a relationship was out of the question. But dear god did he crave that intimacy.
He wanted to wake up beside someone, have someone share the load of being a parent to a very energetic child with him. And sex, but that goes without saying. But there was too much at risk. What if they got hurt because of his nightly activities? If he shared his secret would they leave him and expose it to the public? Would they break Dick’s heart?
So he resolved to be lonely for the rest of his life. It was too bad that his heart had a mind of its own though.
Dick had been struggling in school, he found it difficult to connect to the other kids in Gotham Academy and thus his grades were slipping. After a particularly heartbreaking melt down from the small boy after another child rejected his friendship, Bruce and Alfred had a very difficult conversation.
They decided that homeschooling one on one with a tutor for at least a semester would help Dick become more secure in his academics and interact with someone outside of his family. So, each night, while Batman and Robin cleaned up the streets of Gotham, Alfred trolled through the internet and newspapers, trying to find someone suitable for his grandson.
Eventually, he did. You had more than enough qualifications, a masters in education with specialisation in science and english, a long list of glowing recommendations, and a small collection of special skills that made him smile. Dick had been wary when they approached him about you, he was scared that this new teacher would treat him the same as the others, pushing him down and making him feel bad about himself.
But after a long trip to the Gotham pier complete with him and his father consuming their weight in ice-cream, he came around. And thank god he did.
You were a life-saver. You not only became his teacher but you also became his best friend, his confidant, his greatest supporter and his partner in crime. The usually silent and morose halls of the manor were now filled with the childish giggles of his son, a sound that had been gone since Bruce himself was that young.
You also became a shoulder for Bruce to lean on. You joked around with him, getting him to actually smile and not the usual cocky grin he used in public. A real smile that made his cheeks hurt and his chest warm with affection. You were brilliant at helping around the house and organising galas, which wasn’t part of your job description yet you still helped.
He hated when you left for the day, getting in your crappy car that you refused to let him replace with a newer model, to travel back into the city where you lived. He wished he could have you live with them but it was too risky. He couldn’t have you learning about the Bat.
Tonight had been tough to say the least. The penguin had gotten a damn good shot in and now Bruce was sporting at least two broken ribs and a wicked bruise around his abdomen. Dick was also very sick, a bad stomach bug that Bruce blamed himself for because it was raining the night before and they still had gone out. And to top it all off, Alfred was on vacation.
Too consumed with his mission, he had called you. He asked if you would spend the night with Dick since he had an emergency he had to attend to and wasn’t sure when he would be home. You didn’t hesitate in answering with a resounding yes. You walked into the house barely ten minutes later (you definitely broke some speed limits driving over) with a bag full of medicine and tolerable food for the young boy.
“I should be back by morning. Are you sure you’ll be ok by yourself?” His veins were alight with nerves, this was now so far past the line of professionalism he had promised you when you were first hired. You just smiled kindly at him as you laid out your supplies in the guest bedroom closest to Dick.
“I’ll be fine and so will Dick. I’ll call you if something happens but I honestly doubt that it will.” Bruce sighed, a weight lifting from his chest. “Go on, we’ll be ok.” He nodded and turned to leave the room but not before hearing you call out, “Stay safe.”
He wished he had just called in Clark for tonight. He was distracted, worried about his boy, worried about what your words meant. He decided to call it an early night after ensuring that Penguin was safely in the hands of the GPD, he crawled back to the cave. Maybe if Dick was still awake, they could all watch a movie together to lift his spirits.
As the batmobile rolled into its designated space in the cave, Bruce noticed that the many computer screens had been turned on and were flicking through various security camera footage. Had Alfred come home early and taken his place as overseer of Gotham? No, he would have been with you and Dick if he had returned.
And Dick was too sick to make it down the stairs from his room let alone get into the secret elevator that he was still too short to reach the button for on his own. That left only one plausible option.
The blue light from the screens illuminated your face beautifully, bathing you in a gentle glow that made his heart beat faster in his chest. “Welcome home, Bruce.” You softly called out, your voice both tired and slightly teasing.
“How’d you figure it out?” Your hand came to rest on your considerable chest as you gasped in offended shock. The action made the butterflies in his stomach swirl in a storm of pure tenderness. His mind was yelling at him that there was no way to know if you could be trusted but his heart yearned for you, wanting to spill all of his secrets at your feet.
“Mr Wayne! I am not as dumb as I look!” He chuckled, shuffling closer. The blanket that had been draped around your shoulders slipped down, pooling around your wide hips. You smirked at the taller man as he came closer, coming to a stop right in front of you, the tips of your bare feet touching his armoured ones. “Besides, who else has the money and technology to be Batman but you?! Also, you always disappear mid-parties, leaving me to the wolves.” You shrugged.
“I figured it out about two days after you hired me, Dick also talks in his sleep.” Bruce sighed, releasing a breathy laugh. He pulled his cowl off, not missing the way your breath caught in your throat at the sight revealed before you. His dark hair stuck up in a hundred different directions, his bright blue eyes shining in the dim light of the computers.
“And you haven’t told anyone?” You shook your head.
“Who would I tell, besides this is the best paying job I’ve had in years, I’m not giving this up just because my boss likes to run around like a depressed Superman.” His smile fell into a very immature pout.
“I’m not a depressed Superman, he’s a bootleg Batman.” You threw your head back in laughter. Bruce couldn’t help but chuckle along with you, glad to have this huge secret out in the open. He could share the burden on his shoulders with someone he was coming to truly care about.
Your laughter soon died out into the occasional giggle that made his heart skip a beat. “Well then, let’s get you patched up and tucked into bed with your boy.” You slipped from his chair, grabbing the pre prepared first aid kit on the desk as you did so. “I do have one condition about this whole thing.”
Like the lovesick puppy he was, Bruce followed you to the medical bed in the corner, eager to agree with anything you would ask if it meant you stayed. “Anything.” He replied without hesitation.
“Get me Aqua-man’s autograph, I think he’s really hot.”
“You what?!” But you just laughed and walked away, leaving him in a pool of self-pity and unwavering adoration. Maybe, just maybe he wouldn’t be alone anymore. After he killed Aqua-man of course.
Request: She cracked the identity of Batman. “Come on, who else has the money and technology to be Batman but you?! Also, you always disappears mid-parties too many times.”

I haven't talked about Jon or Super Sons in...years? But a person just asked me about the age up of Jon. My take is nothing special either, a lot of people seem to think this.
When I got into comics Super Sons was fairly recent and popular. It appealed to me at the time and I still think it has some very entertaining moments.
But it also has problems like the way Talia is written, there were moments that felt strange even on on first read and once I educated myself more I started to very actively dislike the way Talia was written or how the al Ghuls were used.
Aging up Jon robbed him of natural character developement and turned him into just another teenage hero DC does not know what to do with. And for some reason Conner Kent was brought back from the same writer at the same time so all characters felt a bit redudant. I could say many many more things about this time, but nobody wants to read this, but how DC handled Jon's age-up was...very bad.
Also especially with later stories the whole "Jon is the good kid, while Damian is the bad kid" premise kind of got tiring.
Jon needs more flaws to be interesting and Damian is not a heartless devil. And maybe that is because of the marvel movies but...please stop treating everything as a joke writers...how am I supposed to treat anything serious if neither the characters nor you are.
I tried to read some of Tom King's stories with Jon and Damian babysitting the daughter of Wonder Woman and it's just too silly and ooc for me.

Chapter 12: Eyes Everywhere
After ending a five-year relationship, you pour all your energy into work. Your latest assignment? Staying at a popular bed-and-breakfast to gather information. It should be a piece of cake... If only the owner isn't the man you scolded on the street.
Jing Yuan/You

Chapter index at the end of chapter one
You’re spending the rest of the afternoon doing research in the city. You manage to score an interview with some businessmen, and the responses of one of them have you see a silver lining.
“There are a lot of great business opportunities here besides hospitality. I mean… it truly is a great place if people here can get it up and running. It may be small, but they should take advantage of the island's natural resources. That can seriously boost its economy! I already know people who want to get factories up and running… but they’ve been and still are facing a lot of obstacles.
"Take this off the record, but I think the people here are too protective of themselves. Maybe it’s because of what happened to that owner that everyone sees outside influences as a threat.”
“Owner?” you ask.
“Yeah. Caelus… I think that was his name. He owned a boutique hotel”—the man points somewhere in the distance—” somewhere in that area on the next street over. I kind of knew his old man as my wife and I stayed there when it was just getting off the ground. It’s quite a shame. Their ideas were very unique, and I heard they were doing well before the awful news…”
“Have they said anything about their business running into some sort of trouble?”
“God, it was so long ago… but I remember a fight. Don’t know the man who was arguing with them but my wife was a local here. She’d never seen him before either, so it might’ve been an irritated customer since it was pretty clear he wanted to make a scene.”
You show him a picture of Caelus’s uncle. “Was this him?”
“Yeah! Pretty sure.”
So, that meant Caelus’s uncle mainly or had always stayed in the city. Was he already trying to sabotage the hotel before the Star Rails project with Jing Yuan's ex? Did the resentment go that far?
You thank the man for his time. Then, as he walks away, you quickly turn around. Perhaps you’re paranoid, but you swear you sense someone looking at you. But all you see are people and tourists walking around. Nothing out of the ordinary.
“Well, well, if it isn’t everyone’s favourite mother.”
You recognize that voice anywhere. You turn around, and your guess is right. “Didn’t think I’d see our athlete superstar walking the streets alone.”
“Yeah, well, not everyone gets the special opportunity to spend time with the one and only,” Dan Feng says with an amused grin. “You’re lucky.” You give him a deadpan look but start walking with him nonetheless. “So, how was the date? Did Jing Yuan treat you like the queen you are?”
“Flattery will get you nowhere, son.”
“Oof. You got me.”
“But, since you asked... I had a lot of fun. It was wonderful."
“Wonderful? Really? You’re too young to be sounding so old, Mom.” You raise a fist, and Dan Feng quickly raises the bag of groceries he’s holding to protect himself. “Just kidding!” You face forward just as he asks, “So, are you two official?”
You don’t know what to tell him. The less people know, the better. However, Jing Yuan already messaged you about Yanqing's mistake. And there’s also the project. You may be digging up dirt on Star Rails, but you’re still partly responsible for this project's success. Perhaps it’s best to wait until this is all over to announce the news.
“All right, I get it,” Dan Feng says. “I think I know why you want to keep it hush-hush for now.” He winks at you. “I’ll keep your secret, Mom. Don’t worry. But… Did you know his ex is back?”
“Who did you hear that from?”
“No one. I saw her myself. If I were to take an educated guess, she was going to pick up Yanqing.”
“Have you met her before?”
“Twice. Once when she and Jing Yuan were dating. The next was on their wedding day.”
“...Ah.”
Dan Feng gently nudges you. “Hey, don’t be getting jealous. They’re done for.”
You want to say you’re not jealous. It doesn’t bother you at all. And, maybe you’d really feel that way if you’d never seen her. But now that you’ve seen and met her in person… it feels more real.
You clear your throat. “Where’s your brother?”
“He’s been worried about Jingliu, so they’re out on a little date. I wanted to go, but he insisted on going alone.”
“Someone sure sounds disappointed.”
“Just between you and me, I think he has a thing for her.”
“Don’t tell me you’re jealous.”
“Me?” Dan Feng scoffs. “Oh, please. It’s Jingliu. It’d take someone really special to sweep her off her feet.”
“You don’t think Dan Heng meets those standards?”
“Do you think he does?”
“Sir, why are you asking me?”
“Well, you and Jingliu are kind of alike… You’re both women.”
“Very well spotted, thanks.”
“Honestly, I don’t think there’s a man or woman who exists that can match Jingliu. She’s unmatched.”
You and Dan Feng are almost at the bed and breakfast when the conversation turns to his training for the Global Games next year.
“It’ll probably be my last competition.”
“...Are you thinking about retiring?”
Dan Feng smiles, but it doesn’t quite reach his eyes. “Yeah. I don’t think I have much of a choice.”
There’s more to the story, but you don’t get to ask when you reach the stone villa. You see March and Welt sitting on the couch inside, and Pom is anxiously looking upstairs. Knowing exactly where it leads, you glance up. You hear faint conversation but not enough to know what’s going on, but you’re sure that the voices belong to Jing Yuan and his ex.
“What’s going on?” Dan Feng asks, pushing open the door. “Why are you all just sitting here?”
March sighs. “Because there’s a war going on upstairs.”
“Where’s Yanqing?” you ask.
“Upstairs with Jing Yuan and… his ex,” Welt says.
Pom puts some glasses on the table. “Let’s calm down, everyone.”
You take out your phone and see the last text from Jing Yuan.
She found out through Yanqing.
You’re sitting next to Welt when Pom puts a glass of water in front of you. “Everything will be okay,” he reassures.
“Why is Yanqing up there?” Dan Feng asks. “Why are they up there, anyway?”
“She wanted a place ‘to talk’,” Pom says. “Neither of them wanted to go to his place."
“Wait. How do you know this?”
“I… sorta overheard a little bit of their conversation when they got back. They came in, and Jing Yuan said they’ll be using the balcony upstairs.”
March leans back. “God, why’d she have to show up?”
You don’t know if you’ll get a response, but you text Jing Yuan anyway.
I’m downstairs. Is everything okay?
Just then, everyone hears footsteps, and the first person to appear is Jing Yuan. He’s carrying Yanqing who's resting his head on Jing Yuan’s shoulder. The poor kid looks exhausted. Behind Jing Yuan is his ex.
When Yanqing sees you, he lifts his head, and Jing Yuan puts him down. You stand and meet them halfway. Yanqing hugs your knees, and you affectionately pat his head.
“Is he okay?” you ask Jing Yuan.
There's a tired but stern look in Jing Yuan’s eyes. “He’s fine."
Then, his ex walks up to you, ignoring the stares of the others. “Let’s have dinner together.” She crosses her arms. “I have the information that you want, and I’ll give it to you on one condition.” Where is she getting this confidence from? “So, since we’re both here, let’s use the time to get to know each other. Just the two—”
“Enough.” Jing Yuan’s interruption makes the room go completely silent. Then, he shoots his ex a cold look. “Yanqing gave you his answer.”
“This is between me and her.”
“No, it’s not. You’re using other ways to try to get what you want without any consideration for your son.”
“Stop.” Yanqing’s muffled voice sounds desperate. “Stop fighting… Please…”
His ex turns to you, looking a little rattled. “So, we’ll have dinner tonight. Just me and you.”
You clench your fists, but you hold your tongue for Yanqing’s sake. As soon as she walks out the door, March lets out a breath. You still have a comforting hand around Yanqing’s head when she walks over.
“Geezus, what happened up—”
Dan Feng’s nudge makes her stop. He nods at Yanqing who’s still hugging your legs.
“I wanna go home,” Yanqing says, his voice still muffled.
You crouch and put your hands on his cheeks. “Then, let’s go home.”
The car ride back to Jing Yuan’s house is a quiet one. Before you get there, Jing Yuan reaches over and gives your hand a little squeeze. You turn to him, and you can see it in his eyes. He’ll tell you what happened but not with Yanqing in the car.
A short while later, Jing Yuan is making Yanqing a snack in the kitchen. You and Yanqing are in the living room, playing a game of chess, but you can tell from the tired and sad look in his eyes that he’s focused on something else.
“...I made a mistake.” At first, you think he’s talking about the game. “When Dad was driving me to school, he told me beforehand that I shouldn’t call you Mom while she’s here. I forgot, and…”
“Hey…” You sit next to him. “Don’t tell me you’re blaming yourself.”
“Maybe if I didn’t make that mistake, they wouldn’t have fought and…”
Jing Yuan puts a plate of healthy, homemade snacks on the table, and you and Yanqing look up at him. Then, Jing Yuan crouches and puts a hand around his son’s head. “It’s not your fault, Yanqing.”
“But… She got so mad.”
Jing Yuan glances at you. “Do you think calling her Mom is something you shouldn’t do?”
Yanqing looks at you. “Well, if she doesn’t mind…”
You kiss his head. “Of course I don’t.”
Jing Yuan affectionately ruffles his son's hair. "That means it's okay, and you didn't do anything wrong." Yanqing manages a small smile and Jing Yuan affectionately ruffles his hair. “Why don’t you take your snacks and watch some TV while Mom and I have a little talk?”
Yanqing looks from Jing Yuan to you and back to Jing Yuan. Then, he picks up his plate and walks over to the couch. You and Jing Yuan end up in the kitchen where he also prepared you a little something. But food is the last thing on your mind.
“I’ve never seen him so quiet,” you say. “What in the world happened?”
Jing Yuan sighs. “She wants you to leave Yanqing alone. If you do, she'll tell you what you want to know."
It takes a moment for his words to sink in.
“Yanqing never said you were seeing anyone,” his ex said, glaring at Jing Yuan.
"It's not something he should have to tell you."
“I don’t care what kind of relationship she has with you, but she’s not taking Yanqing away from me.” Then, she crouched and put her hand on Yanqing's shoulders. He was sitting on the couch, trying to disassociate from all of this negativity. Jing Yuan never wanted him here, but his ex refused to let him leave as she also wanted to set things straight with him. “Yanqing, Mom will give you a much better life in the city. We recently moved into a bigger house, and a new private school just opened—”
“...I don’t want to go.”
“Why? You can still see your dad, and—”
“It’s not just because of Dad,” Yanqing interrupted quietly. “I like it here, and it’s not like Dad isn't letting me see you. I still visit, but I don’t want to stay there… forever.”
“Yanqing, you’re still too young to understand, but—”
“You say he’s too young," Jing Yuan interrupted, "but at least he knows what he wants." She stood upright, and Yanqing ran over to Jing Yuan. "That might change when he gets older, but stop pressuring him into doing something he doesn’t want.”
“Pressuring him? I’m not! I’m reasoning with him.” His ex scoffed and crossed her arms. “It’s also because of her, isn’t it?”
"Stop saying it's because of her." Jing Yuan glared at her. "Because it's not. You're not respecting him."
She walked up until she was close enough to lower her voice so Yanqing couldn't hear. "I know she's looking for some information. She wouldn't come to me if it was easy to get." She returned his glare with one of her down. "I want her out of Yanqing's life."
“I’m not going to let Yanqing see her anymore." Jing Yuan puts his hands on the counter behind him. "Not alone, at least.”
You scoff. “I’m also not going to give her what she wants.”
A short silence passes where both of you are mulling over your thoughts about what to do with this crazy woman until…
“...But I'll still have dinner with her.” Jing Yuan looks up and sees you leaning against the wall. “She knows that you’ll definitely tell me what happened on the balcony. And, knowing that, I’m not going to run away.”
“If you made up your mind, I have an idea.”
“I’m all ears, General.”
◆◆◆
Jing Yuan drops you off at a nearby restaurant later that evening. As soon as you enter, you see his ex already at a table near the window. Taking a small breath, you walk over. You know she sees you but she’s still looking out the window. You slip off your coat and drape it over the back of the chair. Then, you casually put your phone face down on the table. When you sit down, she finally acknowledges you.
“How long have you been seeing Jing Yuan?”
“I thought we were here to talk about your deal, not my relationship with Jing Yuan.”
She pours herself some wine. “It’s related.”
“What’s your condition?”
She scoffs. “I feel like I’m looking into a mirror.”
You force a smile. "Let's not waste time.”
“Didn’t Jing Yuan tell you? I want you out of Yanqing’s life.”
“That’s impossible.”
“Then, no deal.”
You cross one leg over the other. “Regardless of who Jing Yuan dates, that person will be part of Yanqing’s life. Are you going to refuse whoever comes into their lives? Or, is it because it’s me, someone who happens to work at Star Rails?” A pause as you pour yourself some wine. “I also have other ways of getting what I need.”
“Are you threatening me?”
“Of course not. What would I gain from doing that?” You calmly look her in the eyes. “I’m giving you a chance to clear your name. Everyone thinks Star Rails has something to do with Caelus’s death. You were part of that project. It’s natural that people suspect you.”
“A chance to clear my name? Don’t make me laugh. I don’t have anything to hide.”
“Caelus’s uncle was a stakeholder in that project. You handled everything. It’s impossible not to have met him at least once. That time, you and Jing Yuan were still together and you knew that Caelus was his friend.”
“...What are you getting at?”
"Caelus and his uncle didn't have a good relationship. He even caused a scene at his hotel before meeting you. He must have known long before that Caelus wouldn't accept the offer from Star Rails. So, to succeed, you tried convincing Jing Yuan to convince Caelus to go through with the project. But, that failed. And somehow Caelus ends up dead."
“I didn’t have anything to do with that!” The sudden outburst turns a few heads. Then, she exhales sharply. “Why would his uncle want him to partner with Star Rails in the first place?”
Do you have the right answer? You have no idea. But the one you can think of is the only one that makes the most sense.
“Money. Caelus’s uncle wasn’t happy that his brother left Caelus with everything, including the hotel. Partnering with Star Rails is one way for him to get some kind of control over the hotel. There’d also be potential money under the table.”
“And what would I gain from that, hm? Yes, I wanted the project to succeed, but why would I help him?”
“He knew a guy.”
“I was talking to one of my business partners today, and… he mentioned Caelus’s uncle,” Jing Yuan said. “Not knowing that I know him.”
“What did they say?”
“He was recommending him as a potential partner as he’s supposedly a great businessman and friend. And he also has connections.”
“Wait a minute… Don’t tell me…”
Jing Yuan nodded. “He said Caelus’s uncle has been on good terms with senior management at Star Rails for a long time.”
“Senior management, huh?”
“He could put in a good word for you and help you climb the ranks,” you say.
“That doesn't guarantee I'll get anything. You’re going to have to try harder than that, Honey.”
"Then, why didn't you file the project reports? There wasn't anything suspicious about it other than Caelus's uncle being listed as a stakeholder. If you really don't have anything to hide, why don't you give a clear explanation?"
She’s looking off to the side when she says, “I just forgot.”
You almost scoff, but you don’t hide the disappointment on your face. You thought she would’ve come up with a better excuse than that.
“I have proof that you didn’t just forget.”
You think she’d ask for it, but instead, there's a pause before she says, “...He approached me first.”
Jing Yuan’s ex walked into a restaurant that evening. A stakeholder had invited her to a business dinner, and she'd thought others involved in the project would attend. But when she arrived, there was only one person. He was still dressed in the same outfit from the meeting earlier today.
“Ah, you’re here.”
She sat across from him, thinking whether she should stay or make an excuse to leave. “I thought there would be others joining us.”
He filled his glass and then hers with wine. “Let’s get right to it, shall we?” He picked up his glass and gestured for her to pick up hers. She reluctantly did so.
Clink!
“I’ve heard a lot of great things about your performance," he said, "and this project is apparently a make or break for a big promotion.”
“...Um, yes. That’s right. Does this have anything to do with—”
“My nephew is the owner of the boutique hotel.”
It took a moment for those words to sink in. She shouldn’t be so surprised as they have the same last name, but it was so common that she didn’t think twice.
“Let me tell you now that you won’t have any luck trying to convince him. This project is just an idea… a vision of what could happen. But, it’s not going to work.”
“If you have such strong concerns about it, why didn’t you raise them during the meeting?”
He extends his arms to the side. “Because if I did, the project wouldn’t be a success.”
“What… What are you saying?”
“My nephew won’t partner with Star Rails because our vision doesn’t align with his. Regardless of what happens, he wants to remain independent, and he won’t change his mind. Unless…”
“Are we ready to order?”
You almost frown when you hear the young waiter interrupt Jing Yuan’s ex. When you look at him, his innocent smile almost makes you sigh. After the waiter leaves, you turn back and see Jing Yuan’s ex calmly sipping her wine.
“...You were saying?” you ask.
She puts her wine glass on the table. “There’s nothing else to say.”
There is. You can feel it.
“...Did he have something to do with Caelus’s death?”
“You’re asking the wrong person.”
Are you, really?
“But, I had nothing to do with it."
After a brief silence, you say, “...You asked how long I was seeing Jing Yuan. What about you and your fiancé? How did you two meet?”
She slightly narrows her eyes. “Why are you asking?”
“He told me today that I had no idea what you went through. It just made me curious is all.”
“...Why would he tell you that?”
You look her in the eyes. “You tell me. It sounded like it had something to do with Caelus.”
“Let’s not get off topic. I told you what you wanted to know. Now, it’s my turn. Stay away from Yanqing.”
“This isn’t about me. Have you considered what he wants?”
“He’s too young to understand.”
“About what? You say he’s too young, but even I don’t understand why you want him to stay away from me."
"I don't need another person to be a bad influence on him. I'm already trying to get him out of this godforsaken town." She gives you a cold look. "Convincing Jing Yuan is hard enough. I don't need another person in my way."
"Godforsaken town? Why do you hate this place so much?"
She scoffs. "You haven't noticed? They aren't exactly the friendliest people to outsiders who want to do business here. They're too narrow-minded. I only want what's best for my son."
“Having me stay away from him isn’t going to help your case. It’s a short-term solution to a long-term problem. He may be young, but you should at least respect him.”
“Sorry for the wait!”
You don’t bother looking at the waiter as he sets your food in front of you. You give a nod of thanks just before he leaves. When you turn back, Jing Yuan’s ex is looking at you with a composed expression unlike before.
She looks as if she has something to say, but her phone goes off. After a glance, she says, “So, I take you aren’t going to do it.”
Perhaps you're paranoid, but you turn around. You sense you're being watched. But nothing seems out of the ordinary.
When you turn back, Jing Yuan's ex is already standing and putting on her coat. "Then, we have nothing else to discuss." She calls the waiter over, and there's confusion on his face but he does as he's told. He walks over, glances at you, and packs away her food.
You watch as they walk away. When you glance out the window, you see her cross the street and get into a car. You pick up your phone and turn off the recording that's been going on ever since you sat down. After texting Jing Yuan and knowing he’s on his way, you go to pay for your food. You step out into the cold, scrolling through your phone as you think about what you’ve learned.
You're sure Caelus's uncle has something to do with Caelus's death, and you also have a hunch that Jing Yuan's ex knows something about it if her fiancé's words are anything to go by. Was it the guilt of knowing and not doing anything? Or was it guilt—
Your eyes widen when a hand swiftly covers your nose and mouth. Your phone drops to the ground. Your hands are in a bind behind you. Despite your struggles, your attacker drags you into an alleyway, leaving your phone with an incoming call from Jing Yuan on the cold cement.

15 questions for 15 mutuals
tagged by @darthdutton, thank you so much for the fun tag game and sorry I took so long to get to it! I’ve been on a much needed social media fast 🙏🏼.
are you named after anyone? No, I don’t think so. I think my dad just didn’t like my almost-name and liked the idea of me being “victorious”. Turns out the only way I’ve lived up to my name is by owning a bunch of dolls, wanting to be treated like a Queen and wanting to meet my Albert.
when was the last time you cried? um. In the shower about a week ago? I had to euthanize my 15 year old dog and I was suddenly struck by the grief of her loss since she’s been in my life for so long.
do you have kids? I have three kittens.
do you use sarcasm a lot? only all the time.
what sports do you play/have you played? Anything in physical education class at school. I always sucked at sports and was the last one to get picked when making teams. It was so embarrassing lol. I’m a good skier tho!
what's the first thing you notice about other people? idk, great question! I’ll pay more attention.
eye color? Dark brown.
scary movies or happy endings? Scary movies! Nothing against happy endings but... they gotta be realistic for me to like them.
any special talents? Overthinking.
where were you born? Wouldn’t you like to know?!!!!!! Even though I was raised in Mexico, I was born in the United States. I am privileged with a USAmerican passport.
what are your hobbies? watching anime, reading, writing, listening to music, dancing, trying out new restaurants/cafes, going on trips ( hate to copy ,but damn we do have the same taste x2)
do you have any pets? More like too many pets. I just euthanized my Min Pin, so now I only have 4 cats and a Border Collie. But I’ll be giving up 2 of the kittens up for adoption and most likely releasing Momo (the mom) once I spay her.
how tall are you? Wouldn’t you like to know?!!!!! Average height in the US, tall in Mexico.
fave subject in school? Psychology, Math, Cultural Anthropology, Linguistics
dream job? idk because I've had amazing jobs where I felt so lucky to get paid to do work that I do but I’ve evolved... it used to be Marketing but I would like to get paid to use my Psychology nerdery next.

What would my OCs' tsums be like
The main thing is like a stripping away of facades and artifice, right? Basically like they have no filter
Also gonna be quite a bit of OC x canon stuff in this bc when you're like 'what would this character be like if they were 100% honest' and that character has a crush on someone, of course that's gonna be very relevant
( @beneathsakurashade ARE YOU HAPPY NOW— /j )
Tomoe
Tomo-tsum will not stop itself from literally treating Ace-tsum, Deuce-tsum, Irina-tsum and their corrosponding humans like its literal kids. Includes Grim too, of course. Protecting them like a big mother hen. If you hurt any of them, it's going to give you a glare, and lecture you. And it will literally sit them all down and have study sessions with them, making sure they complete their homework. Helping them whenever they struggle, of course. Will do what regular Tomoe wishes she could; literally just go up to regular Leona and lay down next to or on top of his chest and nap with him. Regular Tomoe is both too busy and a little too stuck in her careful consideration of societal and situational appropriateness to let herself do that. It'll also kiss his cheek in his sleep. And it WILL go on long rants at Crowley about how irresponsible of a headmage he is and that he should be ashamed and has no right to call himself an educator.
Irina
When neither Malleus or Malle-tsum are present, it's restless
And the second Irina-tsum sees Malleus it is GLUED TO HIM Even better if it's Malle-tsum~ (Irina-tsum is literally half of Malle-tsum's size)
Irina-tsum REFUSES to let go and starts literally crying when Malle-tsum is out of its sight for even a moment If another tsum, or another person who is not Malleus- with a special exception to Lilia and Lilia-tsum- is being too affectionate with Malle-tsum, it will give them a DEATH GLARE, then literally push them away so it can cuddle more with Malle-tsum
But if Malle-tsum wants it to join in on whatever activitity it and the other tsum were doing that made Irina-tsum jealous, it will, pouting a little bit and sticking to Malle-tsum like glue, still frowning at the other party but no longer AS upset. Like it's giving the other a silent warning.
If it's separated from Malle-tsum it will literally bite whoever is holding it and speed away, running around trying to find Malle-tsum again
Spike
Spike-tsum also isn't all that different from regular Spike
Will not hesitate to pick up its friends (tsum equivalents, I mean) and give them bone-crushing hugs
If it sees an image of Neige it's turning into that 'I miss my wife tails' meme, and will be all sad until it can see him (though granted this also isn't too terribly different from regular Spike)
It headbutts people a lot though! If it's startled, or upset, or if you made any of its friends startled or upset
Junia
Junia-tsum is literally no different from regular Junia
Lisle
NEEDY WANTS. ATTENTION. AND. PRAISE. AND IT WANTS IT NOWWWWWWWWWWW Praise it and thank it and say it was really helpful and very pretty~ Or else it's gonna pout and throw a fit until you do The little diva it is, it will find a way to insert itself into ANY situation, and make it all about it. Will pull of plans with the complexity of a rube goldberg machine just so it can be the star WILL create scenarios that gets someone in trouble and then swoop in and save them and immediately start begging for praise like a puppy who just performed a trick. Will give people lists with things needed to throw a big parade for it
Veronica
SHY. If Vil-tsum is around Veronica-tsum will follow it around like an excited puppy, following its every instruction to the letter. If Vil-tsum praises it, it'll look super duper proud. It'll try to give Epel-tsum a little kiss on the forehead now and then, and get things for it from hard-to-reach places If Rook-tsum is around it'll get super flustered and shy and just wanna hide if Rook-tsum starts being very affectionate. But if Rook-tsum thinks it wants to be alone and leaves, Veronica-tsum gonna get mad at it for trying to leave Similar thing if Cater-tsum is around, and Veronica-tsum will also get upset if it at any time tries to leave without her. And it'll follow Cater-tsum around, no matter what it wants to do. If Cater-tsum tries to be affectionate with it, it'll blush so much, and look like an anime school girl with a crush, but won't do anything to try to stop it. If both Vil-tsum and Cater-tsum are present, Veronica-tsum will feel really troubled, not knowing who to follow, sometimes almost looking on the verge of tears, as though needing to decide between the two is a decision that could end up haunting it for the rest of its life. Even worse if Victor-tsum is also there SUPER protective of Victor-tsum, even more so than regular Veronica is of regular Victor Even LOOK at Victor-tsum while not smiling and you're on thin ice
If it sees too many people it likes in the same room, not fighting, it's going to be close to tears because it's so happy.
Also be ready to have it roasting evey single part of your outfit and makeup, and literally dragging you to your or regular Veronica's room to give you a whole makeover. It will not be satisfied until it's made you look the best you possibly can.
Victor
It will give you dead birds (cat energy)
Isn't as menacing as regular Victor, though, simply because it never TRIES to be menacing. If you upset it in any way, it's gonna go to Veronica-tsum to get it to do something about whatever upset Victor-tsum. When it sees Jack-tsum, it'll run up to it and give it the biggest, softest hugs imaginable. It'll follow along Jack-tsum if it wants to show Victor-tsum something, but be in general a lot more soft, gentle and mild-mannered than regular Victor. All its smiles, in stark contrast to regular Victor, are genuine.
Victor-tsum is still just as reserved as regular Victor, but acts it out in a very different way, not being afraid to show how timid it actually is. It'll often end up hiding behind Jack-tsum or Veronica-tsum If ANYONE who is not Jack or Veronica picks it up, it will start squirming and look like it's crying. And then you will have two angry tsums (Jack-tsum and Veronica-tsum) after you. It likes sitting with Idia-tsum and watching it play games in a comfortable quiet.
Artemisia
If other people or tsums are doing something, it'll follow along with them because it wants to be included. It won't necessarily do the same activity as them, but it'll watch, just sitting close and listening.
It'll give Jamil-tsum roses and love poems and literally act like they're in a classic romance novel. It will become visibly sad if Jamil-tsum doesn't give it poems in return. Even if it gives Artemisia-tsum a super short one like 'roses are red, violets are blue, cats are cute and so are you' it'll be really happy. If Jamil-tsum has to leave, it's going to hop up to it and give it a kiss before it does.
It sometimes likes to sit on top of regular Malleus' head, in-between his horns, and read a book, which often earns the ire and jealousy of Irina-tsum.

Chapter 22: The Tales of a Little Tiger- Terrible Two's
Summary: A cute fluffy chapter where Natasha learns what it's like to take care of a two year old while Wanda is away on a work trip. Peter and y/n have a playdate.
You were now two years old and had entered your terrible twos. Your favorite word was “no” and you loved pushing your mama’s buttons.
“Y/n, let’s get dressed so we can go see Peter and uncle Tony.” Natasha said as she chased you around as you giggled.
“No.” You said as you giggled as you ran from your mama. You let out loud giggles when she caught you and kissed your tummy.
“I caught you, my little tiger!” Nat said as she caught you. She carried you to the bathroom, “can you try to use the potty for mama?” She asked as she placed you on your pink training potty.
You still wore diapers at bedtime but ever since you had turned two years old your mama’s let you wear princess pull up diapers and they placed you on a big girl potty. If you did good then sometimes they would give you a special treat. You sat on the potty and concentrated real hard and you smiled when you heard yourself tinkle in the potty. You clapped your hands at your achievement.
“Great job, Y/n!” Nat said excitedly as she helped you put on your pull up. She then helped you wash your hands. “After you get dressed you can have a treat.”
Your mama dressed you into a cute outfit and braided your hair. She also helped you put on your shoes and once you were dressed she gave you a small lollipop.
You sat on the couch playing on your tablet as your mama grabbed your backpack and finished getting ready.
“Alright, let’s go to the car. You can bring your tablet.” Nat said as she held out her hand to you as she waited for you.
As you sat in your car seat you sucked on your lollipop and played on your tablet. You were pretty smart for your age and your Babu and Dedu had talked your mama’s into getting you a tablet with educational games and videos installed.
Natasha smiled as she drove. She could hear you singing and trying to say the alphabet and count. She couldn’t get over how fast you had grown in a year.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Peter ran up to hug you when he saw you walk out of the elevator. “Y/n! Daddy got me a new toy! Do you want to see?” He asked excitedly.
You smiled big as you held onto Peter’s hand and ran with him to his playroom. You loved playing with Peter because he always had the best toys. Your mama Wanda was always careful with what toys you were allowed to play with. Your eyes grew big when Peter showed you an electric car. “Car!” You said excitedly as you pointed to it.
Peter giggled as he opened the passenger side door, “come on get in!” He said as he helped you get in and then he got on the drivers side. He started to drive the car around the apartment.
“Hey buddy, not too fast!” Tony said as he called out to Peter. He smiled as he heard you giggling as Peter drove.
“Really Tony? An electric car. Wanda is going to kill me for letting Y/n get in a car with a four year old driver.” Nat said as she shook her head and laughed.
Tony shrugged his shoulders, “Wanda doesn’t have to know and besides the kid is a great driver. He’s got good hand eye coordination.”
Nat agreed with Tony as she couldn’t stop smiling watching Peter drive his electric car all around the apartment. She turned to Tony, “Yelena and Kate want to know if there is a way that you can age down their little, America?”
Tony sat down on the couch in front of Natasha, “sure that shouldn’t be a problem. How is the kid settling in? I’m assuming things are going well if they’ve already decided to age her down to her headspace age.”
“She’s settled in really well with Yelena and Kate, and of course Lucky loves her. America has had a rough life with losing her real mother’s and I think a lot of healing can come from giving her a fresh start. She’s so much happier and relaxed when she’s in her little headspace.” Nat says as she takes a sip of her coffee.
Just as Tony is about to respond he jumps up at the sound of the electric car thudding into a wall and the sound of you crying. “Bambi, what happened?” He asked Peter as he ran into the playroom.
Peter looked scared as he looked at you crying and then at his daddy and auntie Nat. “Sorry daddy. Didn’t mean to.”
Nat quickly picked you up and tried to comfort you. She noticed a giant bump forming on your forehead. Yep. Wanda was definitely going to kill her. “It’s okay baby. Let’s go put some ice on your owie.”
“It’s okay Bambi, you’re not in trouble. Accidents happen. Why don’t you go pick out a movie and I’ll make us all some popcorn.” Tony said as he comforted his son and hugged him.
“Okay daddy!” Peter said excitedly as he wiped away his tears. He was glad that his daddy wasn’t mad at him.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
You fussed in your mama’s arms as she tried to hold an ice pack to your forehead. “No!” You yelled as you pushed the ice pack away.
“No ma’am, we don’t yell at mama like that. I know it’s cold but it will help you feel better.” Nat said firmly as she held the ice pack to your head. She pulled out a sippy cup filled with breastmilk and handed it to you hoping that it would help calm you down.
“Tanks mama.” You said as you slowly started to calm down. You started to drink your mama Wanda’s breastmilk as it made you feel safe.
Nat carried you to the living room where Tony and Peter sat waiting with a big bucket of buttery popcorn. She smiled when you sat next to Peter and gave him a hug. “So, what movie are we watching?”
“Lilo and Stitch!” Peter said happily as he pointed to the giant flatscreen tv.
Everyone ate popcorn and enjoyed the movie. Nat kept a careful eye on you to make sure that you didn’t have a concussion and she relaxed a little when she saw that the bump had gone down a little.
By the end of the movie you and Peter had fallen asleep and were cuddled on the couch together. Tony smiled and took a picture of the two of you with his phone, the sight was simply too precious.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
When Wanda got home she could hear you giggling in the bathroom as Natasha was giving you a bath. She smiled as she put her luggage by the door. “I’m home!”
You squealed happily when you saw your mama Wanda walk into the bathroom. “Mama home!” You missed your mama Wanda and you were so happy that you tried to climb out of your bubble bath.
“Oh my baby, what happened to your head?” Wanda asked as she got on her knees by the tub and hugged you not even bothered that you were soaking wet. She gave Natasha a ‘what the hell happened’ look.
“Car! Ouchie!” You said as you pointed to your head and tried to explain what happened to your mama.
Wanda felt anxious as she looked at you and then turned to Natasha, “did you get into a car accident? Why didn’t you call me?”
“It wasn’t technically a car accident. I mean it was but not our car. Tony got Peter an electric car and Y/n was riding with Peter and they ran into a wall.” Nat explained as she rinsed you off and then grabbed your tiger towel and wrapped you up so that Wanda could pick you up.
“You let a four year old drive our daughter around in an electric car?” Wanda said in disbelief as she picked you up out of the tub. She was upset that you had gotten hurt, she was very protective over you.
Wanda placed you in a diaper and dressed you into your pajamas. She kissed your forehead as she gave you a sippy cup full of her breast milk. “I missed you, my little tiger.” She said as she rocked you in the rocking chair in your room.
Your eyes became heavy as you drank your milk and breathed in your mama Wanda’s scent. You had missed being in her arms.
Nat walked in and smiled when she saw Wanda tuck you into your toddler bed. “She’s growing up so fast.”
Wanda smiled as she looked up, “she really is. Look, I’m sorry that I got so upset earlier. I just hate seeing her get hurt; but that’s part of a child’s development. Sometimes I have to remind myself that I can’t put her inside a bubble.” Wanda said as she walked over to her girlfriend Nat and wrapped her arms around her.
Nat leaned down and kissed Wanda on the lips. “I’m so glad that you are home; and I feel the same as you. Sometimes I wish we could put her in a bubble. Also our daughter is very fond of the word ‘no’.” Natasha said as she let out a quiet chuckle.
Wanda giggled, “she gets that from you dear.”

gifted kid burnout drives me insane. the way you are treated as a child affects how you act as an adult. this is like existence 101. its not just "boohoo i could read so good when i was 6" its "i read well when i was 6 and people decided that meant i should do more work with less help forever, and have extremely negative reactions when i do need help. this happened consistently at an early age and thus affected the way i function now." which is like pretty easy to understand i feel like.
also if you conceptualize gifted education classes as like. little safe havens where all the fortunate kids got to run off to. well that makes sense, because there ARE a lot of really fucked up factors that play into who is considered a gifted kid and who isnt. it is undeniable that racism and classism are a big part of how gifted education programs function. it is also true that gifted education classes can be just as shit as a "regular" class. at the end of the day, youre still going to a teacher, who is a human being, who is part of the system, and might be shit at their job and treat you like shit. and there ARE poor kids and kids of color who get put into gifted education classes and get hurt by it, not just in the sense that "gifted kid burnout can get all of us wow" but that they then have to fight extra hard since they're now in a place that is working against them EVEN MORE THAN THE REGULAR AMERICAN SCHOOL SYSTEM!
the fact of the matter is, gifted education classes are bad! they are a tool for the school system and they are a tool of racism and classism and capitalism. they hurt everyone! they hurt the students in the classes and they hurt the students not in the classes! its bad for everyone! "gifted kid burnout" is just a phrase that some people use to talk about a thing they experienced in their personal life. it's not like a fucking legislative term
saying "you were just a regular kid like the rest of us you werent special" like a dig is crazy to me because its like. well yes! that's the problem! at the end of the day "gifted kid burnout" is a very small symptom (that at this point i see more people complain about people talking about than... actually see people talking about it? but i suppose the internet always has somebody talking about something somewhere) of something that everyone knows which is that the united states school system fucking gargles chode and treats kids like shit!
#megpost#THIS POST IS ABOUT THE US BECAUSE I AM FROM THE US#sorry its long and rambly im just thinking#not even going to talk about how for a lot of people gifted kid burnout is actually a neurodivergent struggle#which is also a whole thing because the gifted kid systems existence ALSO fucks over other neurodivergent kids who exist in a less desirabl#manner to the school system and the purpose of the american nightmare

the thing that always gets me about gifted kid discourse is that like. ok. i technically experienced both sides of it, in a way. i had ~advanced reading and spelling skills~ and an ~advanced vocabulary~ (again, for a 6 year old, so it doesn't really warrant any clapping) and was in the middle school equivalent of AP classes for reading/writing. BUT i was also someone with dyscalculia and undiagnosed inattentive type ADHD, and having absence seizures and forgetting basic shit and being absolutely garbage at maths meant i was treated like a complete idiot by my peers even Though i was outperforming them in the literacy element. like i have been referred to as stupid/retard/etc and told that i'm only good at one thing (which wasn't even true bc i did have high grades in humanities subjects as a whole... but a lot of 'special ed' kids have classes or special skills they're good at and nobody actually cares) and my teachers never actually attempted to stop this ostracization by my peers
and you know what stuck with me today and has a deeply damaging effect on my psyche as a grown adult. it's the latter!!!! i don't feel any kind of trauma because i was pretty good at words for a kid and got praised for it and today i don't get praised anymore for knowing long words bc i'm 27. but even though i'm now diagnosed and medicated, going through my entire school career and most of my adult life to this point with a learning disability means that i will probably always consider myself to be "a little bit stupid" and feel this deep sense of shame when i make a basic mistake. i can't even imagine the internalised stigma that some kids who actually qualified to be in special ed classes feel when they reach adulthood ESPECIALLY when they see people whining about how hard it was to be Assigned Smart. we had a special educational program at our school and the kids were all very segregated (had their own classes, their own school transport etc) and the kids who got average-to-good grades literally treated them like a punchline.

A thing I find really interesting: in the Riordanverse so far we've seen two sixteen-year-old children of the Big Three have to face the question of how to deal with the issue of the minor gods rebelling due to feeling abandoned, disrespected, neglected and otherwise unwelcome. First Percy at the end of PJO when he makes the gods swear to give the minor gods a place at camp, then Jason in BoO when he and Percy fight Kym and Polybotes. And the different ways they respond to that says a lot about I think both them and the way they've been trained.
Percy's solution is... actually surprisingly naive, if you think about it. I mean, first off he basically just assumes that an oath on the Styx will hold the gods to their word. He of all people should know that that's not true; he's the result of a broken oath on the Styx, after all. And we know from Piper and Leo—who are both past the age of thirteen and not Roman demigods, but still haven't been claimed or brought to camp even though according to the oath they should have been—that... yeah, the gods broke that oath basically immediately. Surprise surprise, the gods suck. And no one likes being forced to make a promise against their will, even when it's a promise that is basically "do the bare minimum as a parent and don't be dicks to people who've proved they'll turn on you if you do that". But aside from that, Percy's reasoning seems to have basically been "make the gods give the minor gods a place at camp = profit", which... yeah, that's the sort of reasoning I'd expect from a teenager whose leadership experience mostly boils down to sometimes making solo decisions during quests. I've mentioned before that Percy doesn't tend to think in terms of long-term planning and specializes in getting what he wants in the immediate short term, and it's the same here: he's focusing on an immediate problem (all the unclaimed kids at camp, some of whom are the kids of minor gods), and forgetting about or just not noticing the larger issue (the minor gods switch sides not because of their children not getting recognized but because they feel neglected because no one worships them anymore and the major gods don't care).
To be clear, those unclaimed kids are a problem and dealing with them is a good and very decent move. Percy turning down personal gain in favour of doing his best to ensure improvements for all those kids in the Hermes cabin growing angrier and more resentful with every day they go unclaimed is a very good thing, we love to see it. But it's treating a symptom, not the underlying cause of the issues that caused so many minor gods to turn on Olympus, and so would only ever have been a stopgap even without Gaea rising. And Percy didn't have any further plans to deal with the problems outside of this one aspect; he actually seems genuinely surprised to learn that the deal he made didn't solve the problem and in fact didn't even ensure that all the minor gods were recognized. Percy's solution also relies on the gods; as we see, there's no plan in place for if the gods fuck up or fail to keep their promise! The gods failed to do anything for Kym, and there was nothing in place to even check on that because the plan was just "force the gods to promise to do the thing" (and how do you hold gods who can smite you if you annoy them accountable for their fuckups, anyway?). The whole thing is reliant on the gods not breaking their oath, when again Percy especially should know they aren't great at that.
Jason, meanwhile, has a much more solid understanding of the overarching issue causing the minor gods to keep turning on Olympus and has a plan to combat it. Why do the minor gods keep turning on Olympus? They feel disrespected. Why do they feel disrespected? They aren't being worshipped. What's the best way to ensure they get worshipped? Build shrines and educate demigods about them. What's the best way to do that? Well... just go around both camps and see it done yourself. There's no reliance on the gods, because the gods aren't involved! Jason intends to handle this personally, and we see in ToA that he puts a lot of effort into it. And it makes sense that Jason is focusing on an actionable plan that he can keep an eye on personally, because he has years of leadership experience as a praetor of Camp Jupiter. He must be more than used to having to handle situations where two groups who should be on the same side are in conflict for one reason or another, so he knows how to figure out a solution and how to keep an eye on the implementation of that solution in a way Percy wouldn't. It also makes sense that he has more of an understanding that the issue of the minor gods not getting any respect isn't going to be solved as easily as just making the major gods promise to play nice; first off he again is used to leadership and mediation and nothing is ever that easy, and second he came from the Fifth Cohort, which is still mocked even though the much-vaunted son of Jupiter rose from their ranks.
And I think a lot of the difference in how these two approach this particular problem comes from how the two camps treat young demigods? While in both camps the kids end up doing most of the work, in Camp Half-Blood Mr. D and Chiron are in charge. They're the ones who call for quests and decide activities, people have to run decisions by them. And quests tend to be more team projects; one person is the leader, but the quests we see usually feature the quest-goers working together to make decisions and plan their next move rather than having one person in charge. Percy's not good at coming up with a solid, long-term game plan because that's never been his responsibility. Not to mention that the Greek gods interfere in things constantly, so poking them and saying "Hey, you owe me, fix this nonsense" is often a valid strategy. Meanwhile at Camp Jupiter they cut out the middleman and put the kids in charge from the start, seeing as they're going to be doing all the work anyway. So Jason knows how to plan for the future, because... well, that's been his job for some time, of course he knows that. He wouldn't have gotten far as a praetor if he didn't. Both camps absolutely traumatize the fuck out of their campers, but hey, at least at Camp Jupiter you might get leadership skills out of it! And also the Roman gods are more hands-off, so it makes sense Jason wouldn't put this whole mess in their hands. Especially since he now also has Percy's example to tell him that won't work at all. Basically Percy holds a position of respect and some level of power at Camp Half-Blood because he's one of their best fighters and not bad as a battlefield commander, but he's not a leader the way Jason is, which is likely part of the reason why he's so quick to give up the praetorship when Jason gets to Camp Jupiter in MoA. Jason is a leader, meanwhile, because he's had years of experience in that role and is used to handling it even if it wouldn't have been his choice. Both of them care about the people around them and want to do right by them, but Percy only does so as a friend; Jason does as a friend too, but also as someone used to being in a position of meaningful authority over the group and so in a position where they have a very real and concrete responsibility to the group in a way that someone who's just a friend doesn't. You can also see this in things like how when Nico says he isn't welcome at camp Percy's response is basically "Yyyyyyyyyyyeah, that sucks, huh" while Jason's response is to try to make him feel welcome. Percy feels bad about it but wouldn't know what to do about the problem even if he tried, while Jason's probably used to helping people who don't fit in find a place where they belong as part of his job and would do his best to do so here even if he didn't care about Nico on a personal level. I don't know, it's just a really interesting difference between them and I wish the books had gone more into the difference between authority born from Being Strong and authority born from being in a position of concrete leadership as decided by the group (although unless I'm misremembering there are a couple points where it's pointed out that Annabeth is really much more Jason's counterpart on the Greek side than Percy is, and I love that, it's very true, Percy is not the one in charge, that is absolutely Annabeth) instead of just Percy and Jason calling each other "bro" all the time and having the occasional Big Three squabble.
