thinking about the disconnect between cesare and lucrezia in “the prince” after cesare’s failed at murdering alfonso and lucrezia has to clean up his mess, and she asks “is that all i am now, brother, borgia?” with such disgust and he just doesn’t even hear her because he’s too focused on her mixing the poison and realizing that by being with her he won’t be corrupting her because she’s already a “professional” like him, like the assassin he was ready to send in to finish the job to keep her hands free of blood. meanwhile lucrezia is ALREADY making up her mind that she wants a love outside of HIS love for her because the way he loves her is selfishly and all consuming and overly possessive and makes her feel sick because some part of her still feels like god is in the room with them when he’s near, but now i think she understands that not to be true. and he was right to ask “god or the devil?” ACTUALLY maybe the disconnect begins before this….when he’s just run alfonso through with his sword and lucrezia comes rushing down the stairs to find the aftermath and cesare thinks he’s going to convince her it was an “accident” or perhaps it begins when lucrezia tells him “i am tired of my husband, of life, the only thing that never tires me is you”. yep this is when it begins i think!! right there. because of this he underestimates how much guilt lucrezia will feel if something happens to alfonso by cesare’s hand. how much she will come to resent being born a borgia, being loved by HIM.

since in your hc dark spyro is a separate entity turned good eventually do you think he bares a sort of guilt for what he did to spyro and, in turn, the rest of the team? and if so did he and spyro ever properly talk it out? i feel they could share a sort of connection with both technically having been taken over by strykore

YES !!!! absolutely!!! I think that Spyro and Dark Spyro do talk things out, but the conversation itself comes from Spyro being the 'Problem' of the situation

Spyro eventually loses his mind and starts pushing people away to the extreme, to which Dark Spyro steps in to be like, HEY you dont want to be like me, and that leads to a deep conversation between them that unveils they aren't so different after all-

Dark Spyro was never 'evil', he was just a bigger and better liar than his better self, and convinced himself he was and is evil, when in reality hes just a nuisance. Spyro comes to realise he was becoming his "evil" self and realises, hes not evil, hes just all of Spyros hurt, fear and anger in physical form. Dark Spyro is only strong when hes angry, but weaker when he's guilty.

Which is most of the time.

I think he butts heads with everyone (except from his girlfriend, Flashwing), and they often make jabs at his 'Evil' past, or try to make him out as being a terrible guy (really he's just obnoxious and lazy). It keeps him guilty, and therefore, weak. He is their weakest hero. Because he's not a hero, or a villain. He's him.

Dark Spyro spends time with Spyro because he knows he can talk (or knock) sense into him to not become him again, without forceful magic.

Its complicated relationship they have that no one, not even them understand. It's like, brotherly love hate? They remind eachother of what could be and what is, its painful but their separate existences are important for the other halfs bettering

Now to add about the team, Dark Spyro actually couldn't care less for them! He feels closer to JV, since he kinda adopted him, but any closeness he had to Eruptor, Pop or Elf, was just regular Spyro talking, not him. He only feels guilty that his image amongst them is tarnished and nothing will seemingly change for them to trust him, but about them PERSONALLY? Does not care, he only really cares about Flashwing or JV, to him keeping 'too many' close emotional bonds is a challenge and draining, he would love to feel wanted or a part of something, but he just can't

As an aroace person (who isn’t interest in romance in any form, but enjoys non-romantic ones), it’s nice to see someone else agree that people should be as weird/intense about characters being friends (as people are for ships)— join me— and otp and similar terms should brought back (or, at least, used more often again)

(Not sure if it already exists, but I started using the term qpotp for “queerplatonic opt”)

From what I remember, the spreading of the expression "queerplatonic" on the internet (I don't know its history offline) and the use of "otp" at its most popular didn't quite intersect with each other, so if qpotp or similar variants were used I don't think it was widespread. I shall adopt it with the rest.

I'm sure there are people who never let go of the otp family of terms but I've failed to see it used casually in *years*, probably because multishipping (many fandoms, many ships in the same fandom) became more widespread and instead people switched to "main ship" or "favourite ship" for any given fandom when necessary

He was just so very unhappy finding out V has a thing going with Arki, whom he cannot stand for reasons at first until these two Scorpiios finalyl start talking. And this only starts happening once Thyjs is in the team is what I noticed the last few days of talking about story and relationships in the team.

this is a remake of a gifspam about a year old, it's under the cut along with some notes about Mirage's evolution!!

Mirage Mirage Mirage... when I first created her, I simply wanted a self-insert oc to ship with Five bc I am In Love with the grumpy old man. As I delved deeper into her relationship with Five though, I realized that I had to give Mirage her own problems and challenges, she couldn't just be Five's lover because in my interpretation of his character, Five isn't the kind of person to just fall in love with a pretty sassy girl, he has to be able to connect with the person, and he has to have a love interest that's competent in their own way, being able to stand up on their own two feet without Five coddling their every move. The first-ever ideas for Mirage were basically just "Kaz Brekker but make her do government-ish stuff, assassin, targeted by the Handler and nearly gets killed by her, aversion to touch" Absolutely no notes on her relationship with the other two kids that were adopted by AJ -- Emmy and Telepath -- and an entire google doc dedicated to her and Five oneshots

yeah, I was whipped af lol

but after some time, in which I poked around in other fandoms and got "better" at creating backstories and motivation, I circled back to Mirage. I started thinking about what could've turned someone who was groomed to be AJ's successor, someone who was only taught the basics of fighting before the Handler came, into an assassin who bided her time until she could finally regain control of the Commission? I realized something that was very much inspired by a certain Marvel show that someone might have heard me complaining that I neglected the plot bunny I made for it (I swear I'll do it next year) was literally perfect for Mirage, it's a play on her name and power, and it fills in all the plot holes I ignored in the first few drafts of her story. So yeah, that's basically the story of Mirage's evolution, along with her faceclaim change due to me admitting that pairing someone in their late twenties with a teenager is just... weird and uncomfortable to me lol; Mirage is one of the first ocs I ever introduced on here, and she's also one of my most constant brainworms, like literally I can talk about her any time and place because there's so much to share about her asldaksda
