it's mainly a comment on my now finished astarion origin run where i ascended him and romanced minthara, but. i decided to ascend him that time in part because of meeting minthara (and therefore their mutual reinforcing of each other's fears and how to deal with them) and also because i failed to convince raphael about giving us info about the ritual, so astarion was discovering this information and fighting cazador on the same day, which was extremely overwhelming for him and minthara said go for it.
but they also didn't become the absolute, and i really liked what minthara says that now we can achieve our ambitions without having to rely on external powers and gods (or worms) and use our own strengths instead. like ascended astarion equates his safety and well-being with ascendy superpowers, and there're limitions to any power, and he would also be aware that he technically gained these powers by accident, and he's also reinforcing his worldview of everyone being a hidden threat by taking this route, and all that would make him paranoid. (and this logic is comparable to minthara and her ambition to take over the brain.) but i think in this scenario, since astarion still rejected the opportunity to gain even more power and didn't take over the faerun, it was a learning experience for him as well, not just minty.
and since post-game they're busying themselves with schemes and gaining control over baldur's gate, i think that's how both minthara and ascended astarion can actually grow more comfortable with trust and their own skills and abilites (minthara's building a new home/founding a new house or her being surrounded by friends at the withers party where she admits not to know how to feel in this situation or astarion now getting to learn to plan ahead rather than fight his way through various obstacles (see all the scheming).
so yeah, that was a satisfying ending. they are not good people, but they get to have the opportunity for character growth in a way that makes sense for their stories and matters to them.
#you also can't turn anyone into your spawn as aa origin so i'm pretty sure that helped like no way minthara would agree to this#my bg3 era#the funny thing is that this run started as a shadowheart romance because i the player want to romance her but#it wasn't really clicking for me on a astarion origin#and then we reunited with minty in act2 and in act3 i've had all these realizations about minthara and astarion as characters#and i'm also a big fan of minthara#so this happened#my current run is also astarion origin but it will be spawn ending and wyllstarion

As much as I love playing embrace Dark Urge runs (discussion in therapy pending), there's something so narratively satisfying about how a Resist Durge playthrough can go once you get to the Bhaal Temple. Your character steps into the ring with Orin, it's intended to be a duel, but odds are you're getting eviscerated pretty quickly. You then switch to one of your other characters in your party and throw an attack, effectively breaking the duel and setting the whole temple upon you.
(Adding a cut because this ended up being longer than I thought)
But, I think it's a very satisfying way to play. Your party members have grown fond of your Durge, seeing them as a friend, a family member, even a lover. They've watched you and your pain over your Urge and what it makes you do or want to do. Maybe you've slipped up once or twice, but you've been trying so hard to be the hero they know you can be, that Faerûn needs. So, when it comes time to finally face your demons and you're getting so horribly hurt in the process, they can't help but rush to your defense. It'll put all of them in danger, but it doesn't matter because they want and need to help you, their ally and companion.
Bonus points if you select your character's romanced companion as the savior/duel interruptor to make it extra delicious. They've fallen in love with you, stayed with you when your Urge craved their blood the most, maybe by this point in the game you've helped put their demons down as well. They see you in pain, a final valiant effort to overcome your Urge against the power of Orin, a whole cult, a god of murder himself. They want to protect you, save you as you saved them.
I'm also fond of the extra beauty of Astarion being your Resist Durge romance since it puts the two of you in very similar situations. Fighting against the will of your masters, finally defeating your demons with your newfound companions' help and being offered the greatest power you could ever fathom... only to deny it, ignore power in favor of your party and your love.
This isn't even mentioning just how goddamn good the Withers resurrecting you cutscene is. This skeleton in your camp with unknown and unfathomable power (also apparently supposed to be Jergal himself if I've done my research properly?) is able to bring you back to life, free of your Urge. The line along the lines of "Bhaal could only destroy what of you that he knew, but because you've grown past your Urge and become your own person, he couldn't destroy that new growth" is just so weirdly powerful narratively. Tav may be a default character for you to create upon making a new save file, but Durge is the canon protagonist and I think that entire scene shows it the best. It's a beautiful secondary climax of the narrative (primary being battling the Netherbrain of course).
And, perhaps it's just an oversight on Larian's part or something that'd be a bit difficult to work into the cutscenes mechanically, but I think that it could only get more impactful if your companions could comfort each other during these moments. Everyone and their mother wishes you could hug Astarion after he kills Cazador, but also imagine your romanced companion cradling your body after Bhaal kills you. It seems just a little odd that they all (meaning your party) kinda just stand around staring at your corpse, especially with how close y'all have gotten.
Idk, I have a lot of thoughts about this section of the game in this particular type of playthrough and some of them are hard to articulate into words. It's just such a damn good narrative peak and can really make you feel things.
I've completed I think two resist Durge runs and just hit this point on my third and it really stuck out to me this time (then again my new antidepressants are kinda fucking with me so that might be playing a role). I left it as my last mission before dealing with the Netherbrain and I think it helped build the anticipation of that moment. Everyone else has been helped by you, and now it's your turn to come into your own. I really felt so connected to my character walking into the temple, feeling like everything has been building to this, that regardless of what happens our suffering will finally end. And you have your party there to help you in your time of greatest need as you've done for them.
There's a reason this game was Game of the Year, the narrative is just so powerful and the replay-ability is just insane. I've beaten this game ten times, heading for my eleventh and it truly just never gets old and never fails to make me feel so many things so strongly.
#we're gonna bypass how i have the withers big naturals mod installed#because it kinda undercuts the moment when withers comes in to resurrect you and he has these massive honkers#i'm a big fan of embrace durges since it's a great way for me to let loose without real world consequence#(my anticipation for patch 7 grows daily of course)#and it's also just fun to be your worst self and create the fucking legion of doom with your party#you'll never beat the sheer power of an evil durge/ascended astarion/dark justiciar shadowheart/minthara team up#I AM FULLY AWARE I AM SINNING WHEN I ASCEND ASTARION AND IT PAINS ME EVERY TIME BUT I LIKE EVIL NARRATIVES SUE ME#but a resist durge run makes me feel so many more things#helping shadowheart with her family helping astarion learn to be his best self free from cazador lifting the shadow curse among other things#plus everything I mentioned in the main post#and then the final crescendo of the score at the end of the epilogue party cutscene is a HUGE chills moment#although i will always be mad that in order to keep gale from ascending you have to make him seek forgiveness from mystra#she should be apologizing to him wtf no wonder i accidentally ascended him so many times him#gale telling her to shove it just MAKES MORE SENSE and is the healthier thing to do but it gets you his fucking bad ending wth#okay i suppose him blowing himself up is his bad ending but whatever#apparently him exploding the netherbrain can get you the win for honor mode and as someone who can't even get through balanced mode#you bet your sweeeeeet ass i'm not above sending gale to blow himself up to avoid a run ending fight if i got that far#honor mode is not about getting the ending you want it's just about completeing it and dude there's no way in hell i'll get close otherwise#i'll shut up now#fishgills speaks#fishgills plays bg3#bg3#baldur's gate 3#the dark urge#bg3 durge

Hii, do you have any headcanons for the companions at the beach? (Let's pretend it's during the story and the companions decide to take a (deserved) break for a day so Astarion can actually stay in the sun lol)
omg omg omg omg yes I'm going to write this as more of a headcanony rambling list because the THOUGHTS I HAVE
Astarion
he is sunbathing and don't you dare stand over him he will gut you
he is not putting on sun cream because 'the burn is worth it'
irl he just wants to feel the consequence of the sun on his skin, to feel it one more time
but he will just tell everyone that he is too gorgeous to burn
he is bright red at the end of the day but its worth it - though not so much when Shadowheart says his sunburn isn't worth one of her healing spells.
Karlach:
YOU WANNA PLAY MERMAIDS!!?!?!?!?!?
She would 1000% dive for cool rocks and shells and bring them back to companions, the less receptive they are, the more she brings them as if to prove something
que Minthara, Astarion and Lae'zel having piles of shells and rocks near them
starts a volleyball match, the volleyball becomes a flaming meteor by the end of it because of how competitive she gets
plays chicken in the water with Shadowheart on her shoulders vs Lae'zel with Minthara on her shoulders - Min'zel lose because they are too strategic.
pouts when told it is time for them to go home and runs back in the sea, telling them '5 more minutes!"
Gale:
Smothered in sun cream
shades and floppy hat does not give a single fuck
Gale is having a day off, mage hand fanning him with a ridiculously large fan.
says he isn't going to of the bbq because he always cooks yet gets involved some how
definitely a backseat cook
"I mean I haven't seen anyone in Waterdeep do it that way, but you are the blade of frontiers after all"
Minthara:
She has found everyone the best beach spot - she doesn't care that it is an extra ten miles from camp the companions will appreciate it
Finds it hard to relax but eventually does after a bottle of wine or two - thanks to shadowheart
She even gets roped into beach games, which she tries to dominate but eventually loses - though she always blames her teammate for it.
Despises the sun so whenever she is resting she is in permanent shade,
She also had the big shades and big hat, the fact she is matching with Gale is just an unfortunate coincidence (Gale's fault of course)
Builds a sand fortress with Lae'zel.
Lae'zel:
Much like Minthara, is very practical about it all
Does some laps in the sea
Surprise tackles her companions into the sea, to see how they would react.
This does not go down well with Shadowheart who has just gained her confidence in swimming again
Lae'zel makes it up to her by making a sand fortress
It's a prototype for her own Gith fortress one day but she guesses shadowheart can lay claim to it for today if it means she'll stop complaining about her hair getting wet
Chows down at the bbq and joins Karlach in the sea when its time to go - she enjoyed the beach more than she thought she would.
Wyll:
This is his time to shine
This is his BBQ
He burns everything
Yes its not how they do it in waterdeep but what does Gale know ( a lot apparently)
Plays it off as a foreign sword coast culture
nobody believes him but nobody says anything
plays mermaids with Karlach
is also very competitive when it comes to volleyball
falls asleep in the sun afterwards and Shadowheart puts sun cream patters on him
isn't mad about it
Shadowheart:
Tells everyone that she is not getting in the water
After 5 minutes of being there she is in the water
Halsin does turn into a porpoise to help her swim (no secret meaning behind it because it turns out Shadowheart is in fact a terrible open water swimmer)
She's the one with the cold flask of cocktails and wine topping everyone up
She won't admit it but perhaps she gave Wyll one too many 'juice drinks' and that's why the food burned
Joins the shade with Minthara, draws a sun cream penis on Wyll but then feels bad
When Lae'zel shows her her apologetic sand fortress she is actually touched and puts a shell on it
Scratch runs through it 0.5 seconds later
Halsin:
Man just fucks off in porpoise form after helping shadowheart learn how to swim
They accidentally leave without him

WIBTA for dumping a guy because of a throwaway comment to my friend? (TW: NSFW statements)
I'm using BG3 character names for this because I don't want to use letters. The name assignments have nothing to do with personality, it's based off of an inside joke.
Important characters- Me, 18ftm. My S/O, Minthara, 21ftm. My friends (Halsin- 22m, and Astarion- 22neu)
I started dating Minthara a few months back. A month or so before we started dating, and a month after I turned 18, I introduced Minthara to my D&D group (Halsin DMs, and Astarion is one of the players.)
Halsin and Astarion are in a long-term relationship, and because my home life... sucks, to be frank, they're basically my surrogate family.
It's important to note that I am a CSA survivor. They've known me since I was 16, know I'm uncomfortable with sex talk most times, and am an incest survivor. I'm really grateful I have them, and when I introduced Minthara, it seemed like everything was going perfectly. He got along with everyone super well, aside from a few hiccups and bumps.
However, yesterday-as-of-writing this, we were talking about our D&D characters for a campaign Minthara wasn't present for, one we were thinking of adding him to once it got off of hiatus.
Astarion is a big fan of a certain character. Jokingly, I asked if that character and their D&D Character would get along. Minthara jumped in and stated that he thought the comfort character would eat the D&D character's ass.
I cannot state enough that this was out of nowhere, and made Astarion very uncomfortable. They and I tried to play it off and continue the conversation, and Halsin deleted the message in the discord. We checked in in a separate discord server, and Halsin brought up he was a little concerned.
Minthara is very sexual. As in, before we started dating, he sent me NSFW-explicit-noncon art of his D&D character sexual. I know he's recovering from purity culture/deconstructing, so I never minded other than asking him not to try and show his porn art to my D&D group with no warning and to stop talking about his kinks in public when we were out on dates, but when he did it to Astarion I was a little disconcerted.
One thing led to another, and a lot of friends are telling me to leave him. But on the other hand, he genuinely does love me. He's very romantic, and when we spend time together IRL I always come out feeling happy. My mom likes him, and I've met his parents, and I don't want to break his heart or anything. He sends a lot of long voice messages comparing me to nice things and talking about how much he loves me.
I don't want to hurt him, but I also don't want to be with someone who treats my friends like this- this isn't an isolated incident, just the first time it's affected someone other than me.

bg3 ladies giving the strap (x reader)
18+, minors do NOT interact
cw: afab!reader!receiving said strap-on (i could not figure out how i wanted to write otherwise, i'm sorry)
word count: 700+
author’s note: proofread? don’t be silly! these are just my goofy little thoughts that hit as i was playing the game and thinking about fucking the ladies i just wrote about. @happysparklingshadows got to this idea first, so please go give her the attention she deserves (it’s delicious). <3
lae'zel
lae'zel starts rough
(but don’t worry, she’ll get you completely ready and wet first ;))
and then she’ll end off even rougher
i swear it’s like she wants to break you in half
she has to slam into you at such an unforgiving pace
the strength stat does not lie!!
i also think she’s a big fan of watching your face, and pussy, as it takes her strap
moaning and groaning, watching it split you open, as well as your face of pure bliss
that kind of reaction makes her want to pound even harder
she also thinks it’s an excellent workout, and that’s why she won’t do it half-assed
she just wants a big orgasm from the both of you, and she will get it
one thing about lae'zel is that she is devoted!!
there will be marks if you’re into that
sources of each other’s bruises, you know
minthara
minthara would give you time to adjust, sure, but she can be so impatient
she’ll start rubbing your clit to get things moving (and most likely continue to do so)
once you’re ready to take her even more, that’s when she’d get rougher
her stroke game is something else
rolling her hips into yours, wanting to get as deep as she can each time
she may even put your legs over her shoulders so she can get even deeper
and she will not be going slowly, either
just imagine her grunting as she ruts into you, not even giving either of you a break to catch your breath
i also think she’s a massive fan of seeing your eyes roll
or honestly just the overall being so consumed by the pleasure that your face says it all
she’ll hold your hands above your head as she pounds away, looking for the telltale sign that she’s doing a good job
and while going fast and deep is a favourite, she’ll know what your body needs
oh, and if double-sided dildos are a thing, just know she’d be using that
shadowheart
shadowheart seems like she’d be so gentle with it
she would want to give you all the time to adjust, no matter the size
her strap would go in slowly with her eyes watching your face intently to ensure she’s doing alright as she gets even deeper
she would definitely be careful about her thrusts, pulling out slowly and then keeping the same pace back in
(she’ll still go deep, though)
(bottoms out every time she enters you)
the feeling of the strap’s base against her own clit drives her insane, though
and she’ll chase that feeling
so, maybe she’ll get a little bit rougher to get off herself, but nothing too strenuous
i think she’s a bit scared of hurting you, even if she knows you could take it harder
at the same time, she doesn’t know if she could take it any harder
i feel like she’d be pretty sensitive, but that’s okay
she makes up for it with the fact that she can scope out your body well, knowing which spot makes you shiver
even when she’s nice and gentle, she’ll constantly be hitting that bullseye
karlach
karlach is another softie i fear
don’t get me wrong, finally being able to put her hands on you makes her go feral
but she also wants to be as tender as she can be
she appreciates the slow love-making sessions where she can just consume you for as long as she can before it’s time to go back out
slowly bottoming out inside of you and then immediately running her hands along your sides, up to your breasts, and then to your face
she just adds so much intimacy to the moment by wanting to feel, and kiss, all of you
she is all about skin-to-skin contact as she’s thrusting away
i also think she’s a fan of the sounds—particularly her strap exiting and entering your sopping hole
“hear that, soldier?”
she’ll say as she pulls out slowly and then slams it back into you
she’ll repeat the pattern until she’s gotten off herself
(which does not take long)
but do not worry!!
karlach is all about multiple rounds
as many as you can take :)

Hello, big fan of your Gale content um I just saw this post on X that really annoyed me that was a graphic saying Gale would use 3 in 1 shampoo implying he is lazy with his hygiene and that another character was more like that and it had like 6k likes and I just wonder why everyone mischaracterizes our best wizard so much? Generic male expectations? Justice for Gale. He deserved that lavender bath.
thank you for your message and kind words! 🖤
i haven't seen the post you're referring to so i can't say too much about it, but if we talk about the general concept of hygiene and personal care, in my heart i know the following truth:
gale loves his little indulgences and that includes the finer things in life, like taking long baths, perfumes, massages, and the like.
once he feels better again and has the spoons to fully appreciate it, he would have a ridiculously elaborate 13 step self-care routine, beard oils and all of that.
(we know his year of isolation likely led to him neglecting himself, given tara's repeated lines about not eating enough, as well as gale letting his beard growing out.)
in early access, he had this dialogue with the protag, about dreaming of a nice lavender scented bath:
Gale: Time is a precious gift. With time, we may even reach Baldur's Gate, a city rife with magic, wizards, scholars, and perhaps: solutions. Player: In that case I share your optimism. Here's to the journey ahead. Gale: And here's to your company. Gale: Oh, I can picture it now: academies, libraries, laboratories – the assembled knowledge of centuries that may just set us free. Better yet: soft beds, home cooked meals, and all the other little luxuries this wilderness so brashly denies us. Gods, I'd pay a king's ransom for a hot, lavender-scented bath – minstrels serenading as I close my eyes and let the water's warmth dissolve all woes. Plenty to look forward to.
this was sadly cut.
i also seem to recall another line of dialogue in early access where a companion commented on gale using a waterdhavian scent/perfume, which had woody undertones. if i can find it, i'll be sure to post about it.
but still, he still has similar lines in the full release version, like in this banter with shadowheart:
Gale: I must tell you, Shadowheart, the bathing waters here leave much to be desired. devnote: A bit know it all Gale: The ablutions offered at the Temple of Beauty in Waterdeep are far superior. And they have the most excellent soaps. devnote: A bit know it all Shadowheart: Hmm. I was wondering why you always smelled like a wealthy dowager. devnote: Teasing
bathing waters, excellent soaps and ablutions at the temple of beauty in waterdeep. the temple of beauty is a temple to the goddess sune, the goddess of beauty and passion.
"Her temples usually held social salons and displayed mirrors for use by lay parishioners. Some of them even had public baths for the local populace. Her shrines often stood on the corner of busy city streets. They would have a small ornate overhanging roof with a mirror underneath. They were used to check one's appearance while honoring Sune with prayer. Some shrines even held perfume and cosmetic items for those who could not afford such luxuries themselves." [x]
volo's waterdeep enchiridion says this in particular about the temple of beauty in waterdeep:
"If you need to refresh yourself during your travels, or perhaps to primp before an important meeting or a night out, visit Sune’s faithful at the Temple of Beauty. Its marbled public baths and mirrored salons are open from before dawn to after dusk. There’s no fee for these services, or for the advice and aid of the temple’s many pleasant attendants, but donations are encouraged."
there are some other banters & lines of dialogue in the same vein:
Player: I want to be with Gale. I'm sorry. Shadowheart: Don't be. He's charming enough, well-read and well-groomed.
there are more banters and comments like this from other companions as well (including minthara, for example), so yes, i think it's safe to say that gale is not a 3-in-1 shampoo type.
#gale dekarios#gale of waterdeep#baldur's gate 3#bg3#baldurs gate 3#bg3 meta#ch: gale dekarios#vg: baldur's gate 3#series: baldur's gate#meta: mybg3#text: asks#gale also has a quadrillion comments about being really sensitive to smells (esp bad ones)#it's pretty funny#i need to make a compilation#also at some point i hope we can address how prejudiced these takes are and what they are rooted in#gale is not the toxic manly man or the token straight bc he has a beard & is mature#and was in a 'relationship' with a female goddess

So I’m a lesbian and I have no idea why Homelander is so appealing to lesbians because if we were actually in the boys universe I can say 100% that I would not be a homelander fan at all
On another note Woman Homelander would have me going feral. A woman that’s mentally unstable and can kill me? Count me in (I’m definitely a Minthara fan in Balder’s Gate😭). Obviously I’m a big supporter of women’s rights but also an even bigger supporter of women’s wrongs.
Imagine Homelander as the mean lesbian trope the possibilities are endless. Sorry, I’m completely rambling on here fem!homelander just has my brain rotting
ah yes, welcome to the "lesbians inexplicably obsessed with Homelander" club. i'm in the same boat of 'i would despise you in any context other than fiction but ur not real so i love u.'
mean lesbian Homelander ABSOLUUUUTELY has my heart (among other throbbing organs) aflutter.
idk if i've ever mentioned it here but i have an extremely specific fic idea where fem!Homelander relentlessly bullies Vought's in house barista (f!reader) every time she comes to order her whole milk latte, which she only started drinking when this barista was hired. teases her, makes fun of her job. it's all flirting but it's so hard to tell with her. one day, when Homelander is being particularly distracting, the barista messes up the order (she makes her nervous okay!!) and Homelander doesn't even need to take a sip to know it's wrong.
so naturally she holds the drink out and says, "Give this a taste for me."
poor barista is so confused, doesn't move to take it, stammers that, "I'll remake it, I'm sorry." doesn't even remember what she put in it, it was such a blur.
Homelander clicks her tongue, looking amused, and then in a flash she's snatching reader by the hair and bringing the drink to her lips. "I didn't tell you to remake it. I told you to taste it."
looks way too pleased with herself as reader takes a trembling sip of the drink. they know as soon as they taste it what they did wrong.
"Vanilla," they choke out. "I'm sorry, I added vanilla."
Homelander smiles all wolfishly. "Yeah. That's alright." She lets go of the barista. "Won't happen again, will it, sweetheart?" Gives a little wink for good measure.
"No, it won't. I promise."
"Atta girl," she says, and wipes the milk foam from the barista's lips with her thumb. Licks it off her gloved digit. "See you tomorrow."
she leaves without a new drink.
#i told you it's VERY SPECIFIC#i've thought about this scenario a lot okay and i just need to write it lmao#i may as well consider this a wip#i really need a tag for fem!homelander#i'm gonna go with ladylander bc it makes me laugh AND it's alliterative#darling anon#ask and you shall receive#ladylander#homelander x reader

(Leaps in askbox now its clear) Howdy! I'm curious about your opinions on the companions, like initial thoughts and now that you've clocked in an unhealthy (affectionate) amount of hours? We know what you'd change but how about everyone as is? Thanks!
Alrighty, I can finally answer this one...
Ok.
Man. This is gonna be a long one.
We're gonna start with the shorter opinions first.
Minthara:
I have not done a run where Minthara was alive in Act 2. I literally know almost nothing about her.
I think she's hot and has the sexiest voice of all the female characters, but I know nothing about her story, other than she was a lesbian with Orin. I do wanna try and romance her, but.
Who knows if I'll ever get around to it.
Minsc:
I get that he's a fan favorite from the old games, but I kind of hate him. He feels like fanservice, and I didn't get a nostalgia boner for him, so he does nothing for me as a character.
I honestly kill him. Not out of malice, just more out of, why even have him be here?
Plus I tend to go through the entire game without swapping my party members, because I'm pretending it's a real dnd campaign.
And I ain't changing my team comp for this weirdo who only shows up at the very end.
Sorry to his hamster when I kill him, though.
Jaheira:
She's ok. I don't hate her, but she doesn't do it for me. I don't get why she's Russian. And apparently the only Russian in the whole game.
She also feels like fanservice.
Plus she fucking drops ice storms on everyone's goddamn HEADS when they're already in Hunger of Hadar, and honestly?
We have beef. I let her die sometimes, for that crime specifically. I also skip her house, because it doesn't have good loot, besides the scimitars, and I don't play races or classes that use scimitars. like ever.
Halsin:
I like Halsin generally, he's inoffensive to me, but his "romance" is so bad. It's shallow, it feels tacked on, which it was, and everyone knows how much I HATE how little his sexual trauma is focused on.
I romanced him twice, and both times, I was underwhelmed and kind of shrugged him off.
He should just be a fling option like Mizora. He shouldn't have become a "romance" option. It's fine for him to be a big buff bear hippie that you can fuck, but a companion?
He's got nothing to do with Act 3. It's a detriment to his character and the game, tbh.
Ok, that's the smaller ones out of the way. Now mains:
Astarion:
I got into BG3 for Astarion.
I fully admit it. I saw a scene of him screaming at Tav for blasting him with the sun beam from the githyanki creche, and it was funny as fuck.
Neil Newbon is highly charismatic, and truly elevates a character I don't find that physically attractive. His personality and enthusiasm shine through, and his voice acting is superb. And I am a sucker for angst and redemption and themes of abuse and breaking free of toxic relationships. And darkly, I admit. I do like the more twisted nature of his backstory, the way he had to use his body to survive, has a bad relationship with sex, and was tortured repeatedly. As anyone who reads my writing knows...I am a disgusting sadistic pervert.
That being said.
I no longer like Astarion. Well. No. I like Astarion.
I don't like his fans, or his rhetoric. Astarion has the better writing of BG3, but the lack of nuance from his fans annoys the shit out of me, and overexposure to him as a character, since Tumblr and TikTok are obsessed with him?
No me gusta. I don't hate him as a character, but I can't stand to see Astarion is so perfect posts. He's not, and that's the whole point. He's awful, but you people don't appreciate that. I don't want to see Astarion x Tav headcanons. And I especially do not care about the BookTok crowd being obsessed with him because they just like a dommy vampire, and disrespect his narrative with absolutely no self awareness.
BookTok Astarion is SO GODDAMN BORING. They really just reduce him to a hot dommy vampire daddy, and that's why I never take BookTok recs. Pure garbage.
So. TL;DR - I got BG3 for him, but overexposure to his fans made me be significantly less interested in him. It's a good thing. If I was obsessed with Astarion, I'd be forced to interact with his fans. Thank god for Gortash... I'm free of that prison.
Lae'zel:
I loved Lae'zel the minute she was mean to me.
She's hot as fuck, like seriously, so hot, her neck makes me sweat something fierce, and her voice is sultry and raspy and hostile. just how i like my women.
But I admit...she's too fucking meta. gameplay wise, she's probably the strongest companion you can have for DPS...so I admit...I've had her on my teams so much, that I am sick of her.
And again! It's not because she's badly written. I actually think her character is really strong, and really awesome. I also think her arc is amazing, going from this devoted cult member to basically saying I'm going to fucking kill a god.
I actually teared up a little at the creche this one time, when I had to beg her to stay, and she was like, you knew I had no other path to follow, but this one, or something like that.
But.
But I have beaten the game with her in my party like three times. I've had her in my party on Honor mode like...a million times.
So, tl;dr - I love her to death, but gameplay wise, she's so strong that I can't play her anymore.
Shadowheart:
Ok...I admit it.
I don't like Shadowheart. I find her boring visually, because she's just this generically hot white girl. She was designed to be the companion that all straight cis white men would want to see naked, and that's fine but uh.
Does absolutely nothing for me.
I don't care for her personality either. I don't like her lines, all coy and vaguely condescending. I don't really like how mean she is to you, and it's different from Lae'zel, because at least Lae'zel came from a warrior culture that doesn't put much value on flowery language. Lae'zel makes sense.
Shadowheart is an amnesiac who's just mean to you because.
I also don't care for her story, at all.
Don't care about Shar's Gauntlet or her kidnapped backstory. Don't give a shit about her parents. Don't care that she's scared of wolves or that her hand hurts.
I like the overarching thematic bridge that her character exists on, specifically that the gods will demand everything of you, and will hurt you for their own amusement.
But as a companion...no.
I have never been interested in romancing her. I never have her on the party, except to get that achievement.
I also don't like clerics. I think they're kind of weak, tbh. They're heal bots. They're really only good for spirit guardians, glyph of warding, and removing status effects. Just don't care for that. I'm an all dps team, we have no room for healers.
TL;DR: I don't think Shadowheart is interesting design wise, story wise, or gameplay wise.
Karlach:
I loved Karlach the moment I saw her, I fell deeper in love with her the second I heard her voice, and I knew I would die and kill for her, when I saw her excited "I love you" confession scene.
Seriously.
I have said this before, and I will say it again.
Out of all of these characters, romanceable or not...
I would only marry Karlach in REAL LIFE. I'd never date a man like Gortash or Astarion. I might be friends with Gale, but he's too smart to be my boyfriend.
But Karlach. She brings the wife energy. She could throw me over her shoulder and bash me against the concrete, and I would say thank you, ma'am.
she's also so fucking fun to play. barbarian options in bg3 are so goddamn funny. you can intimidate everyone and just break shit. it's great. you can also constantly throw people AT PEOPLE. And it's great. She's way more fun than Lae'zel because of it.
No notes. Top tier character design. My wife.
But also FUCK the developers for only giving her two fucking quests, one of which is a FETCH IT quest and the other is just a lame boss fight.
And FUCK THEM for only originally giving her an ending where she either dies or becomes a mindflayer. WHY.
And the Avernus ending still annoys me, because the ENTIRE PARTY should be there too.
FUCK YOU LARIAN. Why do you hate Karlach???? You're monsters. She's never done anything wrong, and yet all you do, is wrong her.
Bullshit.
Wyll:
Ok.
Hard truth time.
Wyll is the hottest male companion.
Like.
No cap. Everyone who says Gale, or Astarion, or Halsin-
Incorrect. It's Wyll. He is literally so hot, with the white eye and those sexy throat scars. Hrrrrrrr.
Also, controversial opinion. I actually like his devil form.
I think it makes him even hotter. I do wish he had wilder hair, though.
That being said...
He's horribly underwritten.
I went in, thinking, he's so kind and nice and hot...and then I was disappointed by how little they gave him.
He, like Karlach, got hit with the cut content curse.
And it's so ugly.
And gross.
And honestly, I suspect it's racist.
But yeah.
I think he's really sweet and I like romancing him and all. But they didn't dedicate any time or effort to his romance, and I hate that. But not him. Never him.
TL;DR - my first impression of Wyll was wow, he's hot, I wanna know more about him, and my last impression is, wow, he's so hot, I hate that he has nothing going on because Larian simply didn't bother to give him shit to do.
Gale
Alright, I left Gale for last, because he has the MOST complicated relationship with me.
So I initially missed Gale, because my friend failed the strength check to get him out of the portal.
So for a while, I didn't even know he existed.
Then I started to see more of him on Tiktok and Tumblr, and I was like oh...ok. So...we missed him. Damn.
So I decided to try romancing him fairly early on....only to find out...
I absolutely despised that when he dies, he killed me with necrotic damage.
That pissed me off. In the early days, when I was new to the game, I think I once had a whole team wipe, because Gale and Lae'zel went down, and then Karlach went rampaging, set me on fire, and then died to Gale's necrotic...which is funny in hindsight, but it was annoying at the time.
The eating magical items thing was mildly annoying, but that was far worse.
I pretty much never ran Gale for a long period of time.
As the Dark Urge, I'd often kill him, in fact, just so I wouldn't have to deal with his Arcane Hunger.
And honestly, initially, I kind of disliked his personality too.
I think the first scene I ever saw of him was when you tell him he's ok in bed, and his response is like, I guess I'll go kill myself.
And honestly, I thought he had incel vibes because of it. Then add to the fact that he's rude to you, no matter what, when he needs his third item...and also add that to the annoying gameplay, PLUS the fact.
That I was rocking Sorceror and Warlock for most of my early runs, so didn't need a wizard...I said, no. No Gale.
I don't like Gale.
BUT.
Here's the thing, right?
I got into Gortash... and then I stepped away from Astarion. Started being obsessed with the Dark Urge...
And then I noticed that all of my Durgetash friends were super into Gale, and I didn't get why...
But then weavewithshadow specifically alerted me to the fact that... there are Gale and Gortash parallels...specifically, that they're both brilliant, scruffy, are blinded by ambition, can't appreciate the things they have, and keep chasing after things they can't quite reach.
And then I was like...ok, maybe I've been harsh on him...
So I did his romance...and I felt bad.
Because he's actually very sweet.
And his voice is reallllly lovely when it's soft and fond.
He's a poet...and then I felt bad for all the times I had chewed off his arm.
And honestly, with experience...I now know what to feed him. Mostly garbage magic items like Komira's dumb locket or the ring of color spray from the harpies' nest, or those dumb boots that electrify the water you stand in.
Plus, I'm smart enough to know how to keep Gale alive now, so the necrotic thing isn't an issue.
So.
So. TL;DR I had a very complicated relationship with Gale, first with his mechanics, then with this random out of context scene where he's kind of nasty to you. But I came around, and honestly...right now...I like him more than Astarion.
All he wants to do is...live.
And I relate to that.
And his romance scenes are nice, and he has more of an arc than most of the other companions, Astarion aside.
So there you go, anon.
This took forever to write.
Thanks for the ask, though.

Facts About Fellow Writers Tag Game
Thank you @darkurgetrash and @lostinforestbound for the tags! Tagging @rolansrighthorn (zero pressure, only if you feel like participating 🖤)
Last book I read:
I'm reading through the Fourth Wing series by Rebecca Yarros right now (thanks for the rec Cal!) Last book I finished was a re-read of Jennette McCurdy's I'm Glad My Mom Died. Obsessed with her raw honesty
Greatest literary inspiration:
Jane Austen for her characterization and use of the Loud Silence, and Dickens for his world building and details! (sidenote A Tale of Two Cities: The Musical was one of the 2008 recession's most tragic victims, go look it up if you're a Les Mis fan)
Things in my current fandom I want to read but I don't want to write:
I very much want to but am so bad at writing M/M pairings 🫣 At the same time, M!Paladin Tav x any of the Tiefling men is literally catnip to me. I love it sm 😩
Things in my current fandoms I want to write but I think nobody would be interested in them but me:
Ikaron 💗 Anything Ikaron, including a rewrite of the Tieflings in Act 2 with him as a protag. I'll probably write it anyway! We Ikaron lovers are few but feral. There are dozens of us!
You can recognize my writing by:
Pared-down prose, comma splices, gerunds, too many adverbs, use & abuse of pining tropes. Generally all the things I was taught not to do in my creative writing program but said fuck it
My most controversial take (current fandom):
Zevlor as a paladin companion ("good" route alternative to Minthara) makes more sense than Halsin or Minsc as a companion. Halsin at least should've been party-recruitable going into Act 2 and the Shadow-Cursed Lands. Right? He would have so much idle dialogue while exploring that map. And though I truly adore Minsc and do use him in my party (re-specced to Gloomstalker to give Astarion a break now and then), he's just recruited so late in Act 3. Recruiting Zevlor in the Mindflayer Colony and bringing him into Act 3 (plus the Ketheric fight) would've just been so interesting for the Tief community as a whole. They are such a big part of Acts 1 & 2, it just feels like they need more closure in the final act.
Current writing mood (10 – super motivated and churning out words like crazy, 0 – in a complete rut):
I'd say a 7! I am noodling on little blurbs every night, including for my Rolan WIPs, and for any other NPCs that strike my fancy. I don't have as much free time as I did in January (fuck work) or I'd be writing a lot more. And Rimworld Anomaly DLC + Stardew 1.6 are seriously testing my free time lmao! But the thirst to write can never be snuffed out~
Top 3 favorite tropes?
MUTUAL PINING 😩
Forced Proximity ( awakened by @catsharky who handed me the plot for Pent Up)
Hurt/Comfort
Share a random frustration:
It takes me a lot of time and effort to get into a writing flow. The littlest distraction can completely derail a good session (ADHD gang wya)
Also, I can never turn off my editor mode, am constantly editing as I draft, and am slow as fuck at writing as a result 😭

The Dark Urge | High-Elf | Storm Sorcerer
Still don't have a name for him, but I'm planning a pure evil, embrace the urge playthrough for the upcoming evil endings in patch 7. I'm going to encourage all living companion to be the worst versions of themselves for this. As of right now I'm planning on (spoilers if you haven't played/finished): 🖤 Ascendant Astarion 🖤 God Gale 🖤 Dark Justiciar Shadowheart (need to figure out if there's a way to kill Nightsong while still being able to recruit Jaheira) 🖤 I'm not sure if I'm going to kill or spare Karlach yet (I’m not a big fan of hers, so this isn’t the most important decision to me) 🖤 Also not sure which route to peruse for Wyll. 🖤 Not gonna raid the grove, but instead kill Isobel at Last Light while all the tieflings are there. (Will knock out recruit Minthara despite me saying earlier today that I don't like this) 🖤 Sacrifice Jaheira and Minsc and become an Unholy Assassin 🖤 Ally with Gortash 🖤 Embrace Bhaal in the temple. I'll keep a save file here so I can try an ending where I take the brain for myself 🖤 I'll probably play through the ending twice, taking the brain for Bhaal, and taking it for myself
#open to any unhinged evil af options#scratch and the owlbear will still be my besties#happy and healthy#em plays bg3#bg3#the dark urge#what's your name???#long post#mostly typing this out for my own reference

♥ 9 People You'd Like to Get to Know Better ♥
Thank you so much @shitty-drawer for tagging me! I hardly ever get tagged in these,,,
✧ 3 Ships ✧
I am like, really not that big on canon shipping - idk its a bit boring to me but if I have to choose:
MidLink (Sometimes with Zelda too)
Dark Urge (evil) x Minthara
I really don't ship that much.
I would also like to give an honorary mention to Clavicar x Azaril. Clavicar is my big beefy Altmer vampire dilf and Azaril is the OC of my friend @eklipta. Neither of us ever talks about it over here but we do have a whole story with them going on.
Generally, I am more into OC ships and S/I ships. I find it often more interesting because a lot of canon ships feel like they lack substance and just happen for the sake of it? I feel as if a lot of OC and S/I ships have more heart put into them but that is just my humble opinion.
I don't know I think I am just a bit too ace for really shipping all that much.
✧ First Ship ✧
I do genuinely not remember anymore. In fact, I can hardly remember any ships at all that I used to be into.
Mmmaybe it was Fluttercord? I really, really do not know anymore.
✧ Last Song ✧
youtube
If you like darksynth, I cannot recommend Carpenter Brut enough. His tracks go so damn hard.
✧ Last Film ✧
The last Film I've actively watched was Prey (2022).
I'm a big fan or horror and slasher movies. The original Predator movie was always really cool to me and I think the Predator is just such a cool creature. Prey however knocked it out of the park. I am not sure what the general consenses are but I personally really, really liked it. Its better than the original and the Predator design in that one goes so hard.
✧ Currently Reading ✧
Technically nothing but I am currently attempting to write a book with my actual original characters that I have been working on for nearly 10 years.
I need to re-read what I already have pretty often because I keep finding issues.
I will give more information about that when I've actually finished the prologue and like - you know, got something tangible to show and not just talk about it.
✧ Currently Craving ✧
I could go for some real good fries right now.
Tagging: @sneakygreenbean , @the-mad-tinkerer , @g0atmama , @eklipta , @risaho
No obligation, of course ♥

Throwing you the reverse card: BG3 and Dragon Age 😉
:D
BG3
The first character I first fell in love with: this is kind of cheating, but I made my girl Sabine in early access and then didn't stop thinking about her for the like 2 years or so it took for the actual game to come out. I still love her. Otherwise hmm in my first playthrough I really liked Astarion and Alfira
The character I never expected to love as much as I do now: I was actually super meh about Minthara at first. It took a little more time + learning her character to get into her. I also hated Shadowheart in EA because she was rude and I took it personally LOL they're both big faves now obviously
The character everyone else loves that I don’t: Gortash... there are a lot of other villains that have much better hair
The character I love that everyone else hates: Maybe Araj Oblodra, she had some controversy going in the fuckable bg3 character poll. I also really like Yenna, I see a lot abt how annoying she is but I think she's so sweet.
The character I used to love but don’t any longer: Astarion...I still like him, but after playing the game a few times/ways other characters just resonate with me more
The character I would totally smooch: Mizooorrrrraaaaaaaaaa
The character I’d want to be like: I'm not sure! Maybe Karlach, she has a good attitude
The character I’d slap: most of the druids...Volo...Aradin
A pairing that I love: I'm still on my Minthara/Alfira train, also deep in the Minthara/Florrick fan club right now (and this modern au!). Alfira/Lakrissa, Isobel/Aylin, Danis/Bex, Shadowheart/Nocturne, Karlach/Wyll, all very good pairings that I adore too. I've also been reading Mimetoist's Minthara/Halsin fic and loving it, I like that ship a lot.
A pairing that I despise: I don't like Durge/Gortash! I don't like Gortash and I think there are more compelling ships for Durge, like WYLL. Monster hunter hero who won't give up on the one born to be a monster?! Two souls both being forced to follow higher evil powers, mutually loving and supporting each other through that?! Also could go on about my toxic platonic ship of Auntie Ethel/Durge but we'll save it for another day
DA - so I just finished Origins (tetoman playing and me watching/backseat gaming), and have played some Inquisition but not all
The first character I first fell in love with: ✨🥰Cassandra🥰✨ my husband + bff are probably sick of me going oohhhh cassaaaaandra every time one of them mentions Dragon Age
The character I never expected to love as much as I do now: historically I'm not too keen on dwarves but I really like Varric!
The character everyone else loves that I don’t: I think Sera is annoying
The character I love that everyone else hates: idk who the Dragon Age fandom hates lol. probably not hated, but I had never heard of Wynne or Shale in general and I'm surprised, I loved them.
The character I used to love but don’t any longer: n/a since I'm still pretty early in my DA career
The character I would totally smooch: Cassandra... but she doesn't want me 😔✌🏻 so I suppose Iron Bull or Leliana
The character I’d want to be like: Leliana! She is actually my favorite, I liked what I saw of her in DAI and now that I saw DAO I love her even more!
The character I’d slap: idk probably Solas
A pairing that I love: I like Iron Bull x Dorian! and the mage guy my husband and I made x Morrigan lolol
A pairing that I despise: n/a for now, not enough knowledge of popular DA ships

Hello ☺️ 1, 4, 8, 13, and 19 for the For the "20 Tav QOTDs"
hello!! this is such a lovely ask, thank you, so many questions! <3
I'm going to answer for Tirazel (Tav) & Ch'lakhou (Durge). Both romanced Astarion :)
what do they smell like at their freshest? (and/or after a tenday. your choice)
For Tirazel, the answer is soft lavender soap and the searing smell of fresh magic. After a tenday, it's corpses: she's a necromancer.
For Ch'lakhou, earthy scents and a dash of cinnamon. Also: they can never quite get the blood out of their fingernails so there'll be a hint of that on their hants. After a tenday, it's all blood and guts: they're the dark urge.
4. how do they sleep with their LI (what position, does one steal the blankets, is one too hot/cold, etc)?
Tirazel sleeps like a burrito with as many blankets and pillows as possible -- and they're all silk, if possible. She cannot be touched during sleep else she'll wake up, so often they both lie, vampire-like and completely flat on a king size bed, with Astarion caving and slipping in her arms during the morning for a cuddle just before she wakes. (They switch who is little/big spoon)
As for Ch'lakhou, they're an asshole in bed. A blanket thief who takes up half the bed. Astarion's hands are FAR TOO COLD for them, so they deal with this with a coal fire, enchanted blankets, and a creature who sleeps with them in bed to generate warmth because they also INSIST on cuddling if Astarion is going to share a bed (They are little spoon). See below:
8. if either, are they part of the astarion/gale book club (magic & literature) or the wyll/shadowheart book club (trashy romance novels)?
Both are in the first book club.
Tirazel overwhelmingly reads and collects books about magic. The remaining 10% is honestly a mix of satirical baldurian social comedy novels and deeply bougie 'tasteful' pornography. She would take offence to you calling her 'erotic fiction' trashy.
Ch'lakhou is a Hamlet fan. Extremely into gory revenge tragedies with fraught, violent heroes grappling with their role in society as expected by family/religion/society. They are extremely singular in their taste in reading and simply have not read anything else -- but would enjoy a trashy romance novel if you gave it to them.
13. what makes them laugh? what does their laugh sound like?
It's Astarion
Tirazel: Appreciates a good witty repartée and a sparkling intelligence in humour. HOWEVER despite appearances really not above a dumb, low brow joke or an extremely crude, dirty joke either. Astarion catches her off guard by doing both. Her laugh starts off as a practised, tinkling little thing, but if you really get her to laugh she will gigglesnort.
Ch'lakhou: Absurd humour. Antics. Gallows humour and deadpan humour about blood/guts/corpses/standard 'durge stuff'. Unfailing commitment to the bit. Being unflappable and taking the humour of a bizarre situation in one's stride. The funniest party members in their opinion are Minthara, Astarion, and Wyll for this reason. As for their laugh -- they scoff/chuckle a lot, a fair bit of wry laughter and half-smiles: to really get them to laugh is a challenge but if they do it's a terrible villainous cackle. They sound silly <3
19. do you have a playlist for your tav? if so, what’s the title + description?
I have an Astarion/Tirazel playlist called 'Bite Me' (very original; no description I'm lazy but the cover art is a fancy goblet full of a certain dark red liquid) which is a mix of 80s/90s goth, music inspired by 80s/90s goth, and a heavy amount of PJ harvey.
I don't have a Ch'lakhou playlist but I think it'd be either disco + dancy new wave (for the discordant vibes - imagine them murdering to 'disco inferno' or 'just can't get enough'), or 90s industrial. Closer by Nine Inch Nails is their theme song lmao.

My name is Yelisa (she/her) and I'm a 24 year old that ships pretty much exclusively with my own/my partner's ocs. The only canon characters I like are from BG3 (Laezel, Jaheira, Minthara, Gale, Wyll). I follow from my main account @re5.
If you like my art and want to commission me, please do not message me here about it. I have a website you can refer to for prices, examples, and contact info.
DNI: Under 18, zoos, pedos, dubcon/noncon, hateful/bigoted, supporters of such and similar.
WARNINGS:
My ships often include age gaps between adults (20s for self x 30s-60s for ships) and human x anthro, humanoid monsters, or humanoid fantasy creatures
I don't care if a ship dynamic is unhealthy as long as it's between consenting adults. None of mine are like that (unless you count the enemies to lovers trope?) but I might interact with people who do have them. I don't understand or follow anything about ship drama but I block people who are weirdos, make me uncomfortable, or are otherwise obnoxious.
I sometimes give my sona or other women ocs visible body hair and I freely talk about menstrual cycle stuff when relevant so if it would disturb you to see that I would not advise following me
I may post cropped/censored NSFW art or reblog/post suggestive/NSFW art and writing. I will tag this with #saucy whenever it comes up. I do not tag artistic nudity.
This is a small titty support zone. My sona is flat-chested and I draw my F/F ships also flat-chested.
MAIN SHIPS
Salem & Yelisa - Takes place in the Fallout: New Vegas setting. He's an experiment (Nightstalker/Human) from the Big MT and scavenges items and parts for sale with me.
The Lord & Yelisa - He doesn't have an actual name yet, but their story is heavily based on The Tiger's Bride by Angela Carter.
Alistar, Neph, Varhel, & Yelisa: A traveling DnD-inspired party. The guys are just best friends all dating the same woman and they do quests and stuff
Dietrich & Yelisa - An overthrown king with a now much smaller kingdom. He meets an alchemist who becomes his wife.
Rarely other OC ships may show up along with BG3 related things.
Fan art/writing, OC-related questions, tagging me in things and such is always welcome too!

I've played something like up to mid act 3 of Baldur's Gate 3 now, have opinions on origin characters and companions. SOME MINOR SPOILERS AHEAD. But I'm trying to be as vague as possible.
Maybe I will start with the good because there's less of it but it's what keeps me from crying.
Karlah - best girl, no notes. She's got a very fun personality, her back story is very good and her behaviour tracks really well with that back story. Same goes for the things she approves of an disapproves. She's also very attractive and that's a bonus. She's for a good playthrough mostly but I'm not into evil playthroughs so I don't really care. She's a very reliable party member but barbarian isn't the best class solo, I multiclass her for better efficiency.
Lae'zel - very solid character, she's kinda scary and better than though in the beginning but her skills and efficiency really explain some arrogance. The githyanki are a specific society and she's very into their way of life but as I spent more time with her and did her quests I liked her more and more. It's funny how she's proud of her brainwashing. Her behaviour and approval also makes sense. And damn she's got game. She's a little too skinny looking for me but I think it's because that's how githyanki are, she's still hot.
Wyll - he's interesting because he really wants to be a good person but isn't the best at getting there. His back story is really good and he's personality is interesting. I find myself rooting for him to find himself, to actually be the man he wants to be. His behaviour is consistent and what he approves of and doesn't also makes sense. Hottest among the guys, no contest. The problem is that warlocks aren't the strongest class, another candidate for muliclassing to make him stronger.
Halsin - daddy, Larian let us cuddle the bear and it offsets some of the shitty writing Larian is so so guilty of. Alas it shows that he was put in because of fan pressure, there's not that much story tied to him and that lands him slightly below Wyll. His personality is very pleasant and looks wise he's a fan favourite for a reason. Halsin is a druid that makes him very useful and very strong. I wish Larian'd actually planned to make him a companion from the start.
The sadly disappointing.
Astarion - the biggest disappointment since early access. I used to like him a lot, he's got very good dialogue early on. He also has an interesting back story that initially makes his attitude very understandable. But it feels like the writers had no idea what to do with him. The more I spend time with him the more he annoys me. It's really hard to predict what he will approve or disapprove of. A lot of time he just seems contrarian for no reason. He feels disconnected from the main story, it doesn't feel he grows closer to my character, unlike with Lae'zel for instance where I feel the change of gaining her approval. Looks wise he's average, I'm really not into the pale and white haired.
Could go either way.
Minthara - idk anything about her, I have never and am not planning to side with the Absolute. Her looks are average so no temptation there. Her religious fanatic thing also isn't tempting because I already have Shadowheart and she doesn't ask me to slaughter refugees and animals to grace me with her shitty company.
As to the characters returning from the previous games. I'm very against this move by Larian or the DnD overlords, whoever is culpable. One of those companions had such an extensive quest in BG 2 that honestly it's annoying they're here to have more personal quests. Also this character kinda annoys me when it comes to their personality and affiliation. The other character that's coming back is less aggravating to me personally though they are an acquired taste for some. I wouldn't mind them joining my camp and serving as advisors or even romance options, but them taking up companion slots is really a big minus of the game. Either way I have no intention of ever having them in my party, I'm not interested in them. I'm so mad we couldn't get Alfira, or Barcus, or Isobel, or that guy from the githyanki hatchery as a companion. Those and possibly others I'm forgetting, could have been good companions with interesting potential.
Now we're getting to the bad. And honestly it's not simply bad, it's instantly very bad.
Shadowpout - idk what to say, Her personality is grating, she's pouty, she thinks she's mysterious but she's just a poor liar. She's constantly in self denial that borders on stupidity. I don't respect her goal to become a fanatical enforcer. Her moody dialogues that I guess are meant to be ironic or sarcastic are just annoying, I've told her to shut up several times, like out loud, towards the screen. She's also proud of being brainwashed, like Lae'zel, but her arrogance really isn't backed up by any skill. Gods with her built in specs she's useless in a fight, mele, spells single use or concentration based, healing, you name it she can't do it well. Multiclassing or respecking her is a must above the lowest difficulty if you want to have her in the party - and a well speced cleric/druid in the party extremely useful. Honestly it's easier to run a party without a wizard/sorcerer/warlock than without a cleric/druid - that's why I still take her into the camp and revive her when she dies. Her looks are average but her personality is so off putting that she kinda grosses me out.
Gale - the fucking incel. He's a walking nice guy mansplainer stereotype. He's even worse than a normal mansplainer, he's a wizardsplainer. He will wizardsplain magic to a sorcerer character and the people who wrote it think that's flirting, at least that's how I understand that scene. What the actual fuck. That scene gave me the creeps, together with that scene where he explains his back story of: he had a thing with that one gal, it finished, she broke it off, stopped taking his calls, he couldn't take a no and decided that if he makes a grand romantic gesture she will take him back. Oh, and he still has a spell where he projects an illusion of her face to stare at her. But he's also monogamous, will not allow for the player character to branch out. I kid you fucking not. And he manages to be condescending with almost everything he says, fucking his his tone is at least as annoying as Shadowpout's. Gross, I judge anyone who pursues a romance with him. Because he's like this I actually stopped meeting him since mid early access, there's actually a way to never meet him in the game. And it pains me because his affliction feels like such a nice handicap to have in your gameplay. But he's a wizard so he's replaceable.
The Dark Urge - shitty edgy Larian writing at its fucking worse. The little introduction of the Dark Urge is all about resisting. But there's nothing to this character when you resist. There's only stuff for those who will play to embrace the urge and like what's the point of having a character like that in a Role Playing game which supposedly is about player choice!? It's completely pointless and it's doubly insulting to me as someone who grew up with BG1 and BG2 because that character references that story line the most directly. First of all that's stupid because the point of that story was to reach a conclusion but also that story was all about living with a horrifying legacy and making choices on how to handle it and you could play it as good, bad or neutral as you wanted and it didn't shut you out of most of the content related to your character.
#bg3#i still think the game is an achievement and it's worth playing#and i will replay it for sure#probably a few times#but in the early access larian really reined in their worst writing instincts#and gods dos 2 has some of the worst edgy teen boy writing i've ever seen#it gets tedious to play because of that#but early access was act 1#in act 2 larian let the dos 2 writers out of the basement where they should've rotted#and those guys went to town#i'm not gonna say more not to spoil but ugh#i was so eager to finish act 2 because it was so tedious#larian is great when it comes to world design and gameplay and stuff#but fuck their writing has the power to take the joy out of the game

1 through 10!
1 and 4 have been answered.
2. What is your least favorite set you’ve made?
In general, my rule is that I don't post anything I don't like, but I kinda dislike this one purely because I still get notes from it?? It's over a year old. I'm begging you. Please let it die. Also I'm not a big fan of that colouring.
3. Which of your sets has the most notes?
I'm 90% sure, by a landslide, it's this Outer Worlds gifset. I remember half-posting it as a joke and it just. blew up. We're talking 700+ notes within half an hour or something stupid like that. Thankfully it was on my old blog (rip that blog, actually. Shame Tumblr deleted it :/) so I don't get it spamming my notifications now.
5. What is your favorite movie/TV show game to gif?
God of War 2018 and Dragon Age: Origins are probably my favourites, but that's also because they're my two favourite games as well. I used to do a ton of GoW gifs.
6. What is your least favorite movie/TV show game to gif?
Dragon Age II. Holy hell that game's lighting sucks and makes me want to cry. Shout out to people who actually gif that a lot. It's the one reason I never giffed it a whole lot while I was playing it.
7. Who are your top 3 gif makers?
@minthara, @wolfamongthem and @arsuf
8. What gif trend do you hate?
honestly I'm not crazy about the crazily oversaturated/vibrant ones. maybe this is just me though, i like to keep my gifs' colours fairly close to the original look, just enhanced where possible.
9. what/who inspired you to start making gifs?
Mass Effect 3 was what got me into giffing, I believe. I'm 90% sure it was Aria kissing FemShep at the end of the Omega DLC lmao.
10. What was the first gif you ever posted?
The oldest I can find is this Mr. House gifset, from one of my old blogs.
#infernalwarlock#answered#i follow a lot of talented gifmakers and i feel bad for singling a couple out i'm sorry ajddjds
