🍷When you mentioned wanting to have kids while the two of you were watching a movie together cuddled up on the couch together while drinking wine nearly made him choke on his wine. You two had a good hour long conversation on the topic of kids.

🍷After waiting some time for Chuuya to be mentally prepared for the responsibilities that come with being a parent, he brought up the topic again. That's how you ended up becoming parents.

🍷When they were still a baby it was common to see Chuuya sitting on the playmat with them humoring the infants nonsense and making sure they didn't swallow anything that could kill them.

🍷Whenever the baby would cry in the middle of the night Chuuya always would insist that you stay in bed while he goes to check. 20 minutes would pass and you'd see Chuuya in the rocking chair of the nursery, baby in his arms, fast asleep.

🍷Will take so much pride if the baby says their first words in his presence. It doesn't need to be dada or anything any word and he has the most stupid smile you've ever seen on his face.

🍷Makes sure you and the baby are safe at all costs, the apartment is COMPLETELY baby proof, Chuuya is even mildly offended if you say he's doing too much.

🍷You don't know that Chuuya has a entire folder on his phone dedicated to you and the baby, you don't that these photos were even taken since they were all taken when you preoccupied with the baby like when you're giving them a bath or you building a sand castle with them at the beach, of course he has photos of the two most important people in his life.

🍷Chuuya was sadly….out on business when they took their first steps, when you two video called that night per routine you told him and Chuuya felt like shit for not being there for it….then there was the baby hitting the screen of your phone not quite understanding why Chuuya is inside a rectangle.

🍷When Chuuya returned the first thing he needed was to see his baby and when you placed the baby on the ground and he saw his baby waddle towards him, he wanted to cry, but he didn't it just holding his baby once they reached him.

🍷You are required to send him photos whenever you and the baby are doing something and he can't be there. Send him that photo of the baby on the swing set, send him the photo of the baby flipping through those baby books, send it!!!

🍷He has photos of all three of you together in his wallet. There's nothing he loves more.

🍷Was originally strongly against diaper duty but now takes it upon himself to do it.

🍷Reads all the ingredients used on the back of the baby food and makes sure nothing in the baby bottles you guys buy has any remotely harmful chemicals. He can't lose this one thing.

🍷And a baby grows into a child.

🍷Whenever he's scolding your child for doing something bad and he gets too frustrated he'll have you take the reigns since he wants to avoid taking his anger out on his child.

🍷Chuuya might not be around often due to his uh…position at work but once his kid starts developing interests he keeps those intact. His child into animals? Taking them to the zoo next week. His kid into sports? Signing them up for baseball as soon as possible.

🍷Whenever Chuuya feels like he missed out on something due to work he'll lay next to you in bed and ask you if he's a bad dad while just looking at the ceiling.

🍷Chuuya is the dad that his kid has no memory of ever seeing him cry when they get older. Mostly because he only really cries by himself and occasionally in your arms in bed.

🍷Has scared off multiple people he thinks were getting too close to his kid.

🍷You have a photo of a completely unbothered Chuuya sitting on the couch reading as your kid is practically climbing him with their blanket as a make shift cape.

🍷Chuuya is always there for whenever you need some you time and just need a break and is completely understanding. He'll take you out for a nice relaxing night out as a close friend of yours watches over your kid granted Chuuya was very hesitant to leave your kid. Not a single hair on their head will be hurt without someone dying.

🍷Whenever your kid comes home from school having a bad day they know they can tell Chuuya as he will hold them close and rub their back and whisper reassuring words as he listens.

🍷When the two of you got called by the school only you could go and pick up your kid since Chuuya was busy doing stuff. Your child got into a fight on the playground is what you told Chuuya when you got home and seeing him washing his hands of…stuff in the kitchen sink, Chuuya was proud of his kid, not for fighting that's bad, but for winning said fight.

🍷 “Did they win?”

🍷 “Not the point Chuuya.”

🍷 “I know but-”

🍷Will sit down and talk to them as to why fighting is wrong and why they shouldn't do it unless absolutely necessary his job doesn't count.

🍷Always tries his best to get your kid the best gift on their birthday. It's like a competition for you two just without any stakes.

🍷Chuuya puts your kid into private school for their entire life, only wanting the very best for your kid.

🍷You could be busy sitting with your kid helping them with their math homework at the dining table and you'll suddenly feel a pair of lips on your cheek. Chuuya returning from a uh…business trip earlier than expected and surprising the both of you!

🍷Chuuya will take a mental photo whenever he sees you and your child sleeping because your child was scared of the thunderstorm outside and wanted to sleep with you two. Seeing the way your child is curled up into your chest and you snoring away is a sight he'll cherish. He loves you two so much.

🦝When you mentioned kids to Poe you had to catch him when he fainted…..it took him quite awhile to warm up to the idea of kids mostly because he's worries if he'll be a good father, he was on board with kids after alot of time but you didn't mind, kids are alot of work and fragile so of course he's hesitant.

🦝The way it was brought up was when he cooking dinner and you were just getting home from work, he had been building up the courage all day so when he heard that front door open he yelled from the kitchen that he was ready for kids…you hadn't even taken off your shoes yet, when you entered the kitchen and asked him to repeat himself because what the fuck was that he was so embarrassed from how he mentioned the topic back up that he refused to even look at you.

🦝Poe had to be taught by you on how to hold a baby and when he looked down into his arms and he saw the warm, squishy, soft, mini human in the fluffy blanket he let out tears of joy, you couldn't really tell though since how hysterically he was crying.

🦝Despite him originally being WAY more opposed to having kids than you were he knows way more about babies than you, having read only the finest books on babies and honestly might mansplain at you about your baby.

🦝Should you leave your baby with a racoon?probably not but when you and Poe both are trying to figure out what's wrong with the bathroom sink there's Karl in the doorway giving your baby a bottle. You're so glad you got a picture of that.

🦝The first time Ranpo came face to face with your baby was when he was going to leech off you two again by crashing at your guy's place and when Poe opened the door he immediately noticed the baby crying in your arms trying to calm them down. Ranpo pushed past Poe just to poke. Poke at your baby and they stopped???

🦝Poe goes to those mommy support groups and it's honestly surreal to see him at the park with all his mom friends talking about their pediatricians.

🦝Whenever Poe makes a mistake like being too loud infront of the baby it keeps him up at night and him muttering about how your baby is going to cut him off as soon as possible and you have to put a stop to this thinking.

🦝Has a photo album dedicated to your baby's growth.

🦝Despite them being a baby and not being able to understand what's being said to them yet Poe reads them bed time stories.

🦝You were playing in the snow with your baby while Poe was inside working on his novel when they said their first words and you rushed inside, baby in arms, to get them repeat their words to Poe and when they do Poe snatched them from your arms and showered their face in so many kisses.

🦝The two of you turned your back from the baby for two seconds while adding a new wall decoration to the nursery when you guys hear Karl make a ear piercing squeal and when you two whipped around the last thing you two expected to see was your baby standing on Karl's tail- wait what. The moment was quickly over when your baby fell back on their bum and cried from how loud Karl was. The two of you were so happy for their first steps less happy about all the yelling but this'll be a fond memory in the future.

🦝Babyhood to childhood.

🦝Hes kind of a push over, if his child begs enough he will buy them whatever they want its usually up to you or Karl to slap some sense into him Karl in a more literal sense to make sure they don't grow up spoiled.

🦝Ranpo ends up being the uncle to sneak candy or a dollar to your kid whenever he sees them to which you scold him and your child. Considering how often Ranpo freeloads off you and Poe he might as well be another child.

🦝Poe is still in contact with the moms from his mom-baby classes and takes your child to play dates with the other moms children.

🦝On his desk are photos of your child on their birthday and a photo of you and him on your wedding day.

🦝Ranpo and Karl are a surprisingly good babysitting duo whenever you and Poe just want a night to yourselves because believe it or not having to make sure a fun sized human with the survival skills of a cabbage doesn't die can be stressful though you and Poe never find out all the hijinks that happen on those nights cause Ranpo bribes your kid to not say anything about the three of them getting lost in a city one hour from your home.

🦝He reads as many books and observes how you handle things whenever it comes to having to disciplining your child so that he can feel like a actually good parent, he looks up to you so much you don't even know.

🦝He still showers your child's face with kisses even if they do start getting embarrassed by it.

🦝He has taken it upon himself to homeschool your child, changing his schedule for his child, being very hands on like taking your kid outside for science lessons :)

🦝One time when Poe was busy writing he walked out his office to see you covered in scratches, you got them when you tried to get Karl to match clothes with your kid. Poe tended to your scratches.

🦝The horror that appeared on both your faces when you two noticed your child was in the bathroom for a weird amount of time so you guys went to check and they were cutting their own hair. Rest of their childhood from then on they had short hair.

🦝Multiple bags filled with clothes that your kid has grown out of that Poe refuses to get rid. Just reminds him of how tiny they used to be.

🦝Poe got into the habit of eating baby food when your kid was still a baby and only recently has stopped.

🦝Immediately hugged your child when they fell off their bike for the first time while learning.

🦝Poe likes answering questions about basic things that your child asks like why is the fridge light only on when you open it? Why can't he play right now? He just finds these questions about simple things that any adult understands amusing.

🦝Poe's heart gets all mushy whenever he sees you tucking your child in. He has it all.

🔪When you mentioned children to Gin while the two of you were making dinner together she froze in place, tears began to poke out of her eyes and it wasn't because of the onions she was cutting, she needed space and time to think it over and so you stepped back.

🔪You were suprised when months after you initially asked the question she gave a answer to your question while the two of you were on a ice skating date. You completely forgot about it so when she told you she thinks ready you were really confused. You aren't confused anymore now that you two are parents.

🔪You'll come home to a eerily silent house and just witness Gin sitting on the living room floor just watching your baby.

🔪Gin triple checks to make sure the car seat is secure before driving.

🔪Ryuunosuke has affections for your baby, after all their family and will protect them with his life, but has he ever supported the weight of the baby in his own two arms? Absolutely not. The closest he's got to holding them was using rashomon to take them when you forcibly handed the baby to him while you scrambled to turn the stove off after you realized you left it on and even them he put the baby on the ground next to him immediately.

🔪She is aware that the nature of her job might prevent her from spending time with you two so she always tries to keep things as snappy and clean as possible so she can make it home in time for dinner.

🔪Whenever you tired after taking care of the baby she'll gladly run you a nice bath and wash your back for you.

🔪You two have a entire manual prepared just in case you guys have to leave your baby with Ryuunosuke.

🔪Gin is very hesitant to give the baby any sugar but does feed them sugar every once in awhile for good behavior due to you convincing her.

🔪She gushes over your baby's first words, you were coming back from hanging out with friends and see her gently pinching your baby's cheeks and you don't even get to ask what's up when the baby repeats the word again.

🔪Prides herself in being the best mother ever.

🔪The baby was sleeping in bed with the two of you once and cried seeing Gin sleep with her eyes open. Fun memory years later, Not fun in the moment.

🔪You have a photo of her sleeping on the couch with the baby sleeping in the position as her under her arm, she'll never know you have this photo.

🔪A baby eventually turns into a child.

🔪Gin is the one who styles the kid’s hair.

🔪Has a photo of your kid on the first day of school as her lockscreen.

🔪Your kid is in public school, Gin just wants your kid to have a normal average average childhood.

🔪Takes everything her kid says very seriously, the kid could be talking about the most recent episode of their favorite show and she'll be listening intently.

🔪Please give her a head massage at the end of the day she deserves it considering her job and the kid.

🔪Whenever your kid does something bad Gin calmly sits down and explains why what the did was bad and why they shouldn't do it again ignore her job details .

🔪Your child's playdates just make Gin happy to see her child enjoy something she never did.

🔪If she gets home earlier than expected she'll help your kid with their homework.

🔪Your child has most definitely said “Eewwwww!” seeing you two slow dance together

🔪No one knows about you or your kid's existence. She stays private about it and wants to keep you two safe.

📒He was the one to mention kids to you when the two of you were getting ready for bed, he's financially and mentally ready to have a child are you? He handled the conversation with you with much care and if you ever got overwhelmed during the conversation he'd help calm you down.

📒Kunikida made sure to spend days talking about this subject with you since having a child is a life altering event. And now the life altering event is here.

📒He does those little baby leg exercises every morning before work so that your baby has enough leg strength for when they start walking.

📒Kunikida is not embarrassed to wear a baby carrier.

📒You were caught having one of the babies snacks and Kunikida snatched it away saying it was for the baby not you!

📒Doesn't mention you or the baby unless someone asks and when they do he talk about the two of you with so much pride.

📒When the day with the baby was particularly exhausting Kunikida will cup your face and tell you that you're doing a amazing job and only shower you with praise about how he admires your strength.

📒Kunikida and you were at the park having a picnic as a date together when you got a call from the family member that was baby sitting for the two of you that your baby took their first steps. Kunikida wanted to immediately get up and go see for himself but he didn't, this day was about you two celebrating your anniversary. When you guys went to pick up the baby though Kunikida cried on his knees when he saw the baby stumble on over to you two.

📒You were sitting on the bathroom sink recording Kunikida giving your baby a bath when they decided to say their first words, a shock to the both of you since they were months late to say their first words so the two of you just froze. Then you realized you got it on video and told Kunikida… he just smiled and gave your baby a kiss on the forehead and kept bathing them. This video is cherished.

📒You have all the gifts that Kunikida’s co-workers gave you guys on a shelf, some of them missed the assignment but it's the thought that counts though the crotchet stuffed cat by his co worker ‘Junichiro’ has to your favorite out the bunch.

📒You'll wake up in the middle of the night and realize Kunikida isn't there. Everytime you'll walk into the nursery and see him with the baby having fell asleep in the rocking chair.

📒Kunikida knows that his job requires him to do something life threatening things so he records his voice, talking about anything and everything talking about his schedule, how much he loves you and the baby, his time at work, just incase he doesn't end up coming home.

📒Luckily he made it to your babies childhood he still has voice messages just incase.

📒Instead of tying his kids shoes for them he decided to turn it into a lesson and teach then how to tie their own shoes.

📒Playdates are always held at your home because the other parents no for a fact that their kids are safe.

📒When your kid scraped their knee when they tripped over the pavement Kunikida was the first person on the scene.

📒You have a framed photo of your kid messily braiding Kunikida’s hair.

📒Might embarrass the kid but he doesn't care, his kid is required to bundle up as much as possible during winter.

📒Raising kid can be exhausting, he gets it, so. While your kid is being watched over at a family members house he takes the two of you to a nice planetarium date.

📒Your kid will activately be saying “Gross!” While you cover them in kisses.

📒Kunikida will take off his glasses for 000.1 seconds he'll look back and your kid took them.

📒Your kid cleans their own room and washes their own dishes.

📒…Good chance your kid had to help Ranpo get on the train before.

📒From the way you and your kid walk into the grocery store with blacked out sunglasses they probably thought you two were about to raid the place when in reality your kid just wanted to feel cool while getting their favorite snack.

📒Your kid always feels loved because every night before they close their eyes they see you and Kunikida telling them goodnight before the lights are out.

📒You feel loved. Kunikida doesn't fall asleep until he knows you two are asleep, just a safety thing.

In-Depth Analysis On All The DR Characters Because What, Are You Gonna Try And Stop Me? Who Are You, My Mom? Yeah, I Didn't Think So- Part 2: Mondo Owada

So yeah, I decided to do Mondo's next. After all the material I ended up inadvertently collecting for him in my Taka analysis, it just made more sense to go ahead and get him out of the way, even if I'd rather go for my personal favorite characters first.

As noted previously, this analysis will only be using canon material. It'll primarily focus on the game and its english translation since that's what I'm most familiar with, but may also pull from the original Japanese, as well as the animation, stageplay, etc. If you aren't interested, just keep scrolling. Mondo fans, prepare some popcorn, and perhaps a tissue box since if you're anything like the Taka fans you may end up crying. You're welcome.

Part 1- Character Design

Mondo Owada is a delinquent character whose design pays homage to manga series Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond is Unbreakable, and is modeled after its protagonist, Josuke Hikashigata. Mondo sports a massive pompadour and a modified uniform that mimics Josuke's, and is the leader of a biker gang called the Crazy Diamonds, a direct reference to Josuke's Stand, Crazy Diamond.

Due to leading this biker gang, he was given the title of SHSL Gang Leader, or Ultimate Biker Gang Leader.

Part 2- Character Introduction

Most of Mondo's character introduction isn't actually from himself, but from the researching Makoto did prior to entering the school in-game. We know immediately that he's leader of the largest biker gang in Japan, and get a look into his public image via Makoto. Despite the fact that Mondo is being fairly chill with his greeting, Makoto remains terrified of him based off of reputation alone- "I'd better be careful around him. One wrong word and I could wake up at the bottom of the sea..."

However, we can quickly see that this reputation is built mainly on bravado, as when Monokuma first calls for the entrance ceremony, we can see Mondo begin to sweat, despite his claiming otherwise- "Well hell, it ain't like I'm scared or nothin'. Let's just get this over with!"

He continues to sweat throughout Monokuma's explanation of the communal life, attempting to cover it up by yelling at the bear to let them out. We get a brief look at his more protective nature, as he purposefully puts himself between Hiro and Monokuma in order to confront him. We also quickly learn just how easily provoked he is.

Despite this provocation, he's not completely swept up in his rage, as he's able to listen to Kyoko's warning of the bomb and follows her advice- to throw it away- without hesitation. So our first real impression of him is that he's a short-tempered and intimidating- but well-intentioned- protector of sorts. He's not completely brainless; he's considerate of his classmates and their safety even when putting himself at risk.

Part 3- Early Game Development

Mondo is an interesting case, as he's a character that almost immediately looks directly into the camera and tells the player directly what their main motivation is. The only other character in this series that's as transparent about their goals so early in is Sayaka, and even then the game makes you ask for that information.

He tells us, in no uncertain terms, that keeping promises is the #1 most important thing to him. He also tells us indirectly how highly he values his family and personal connections, holding his brother's word as law. These combined with his talent being that of a gang leader all suggest a pack leader mentality, which is immediately confirmed by his anger at Byakuya for trying to separate from the group- "Like hell I'm gonna let you run off and do whatever you want!"

Not only is this loss of control upsetting to him, but he's then immediately provoked and called insignificant by Byakuya, leading him to lash out at the closest person in an attempt to regain that hold of power- which just so happens to be Makoto. Not only is this response irrational and violent, but it knocks out Makoto for 10-11 hours. Mondo is a leader, yes, but he's a gang leader, and his bite does match his bark.

Mondo's aggressive and fairly single-minded nature is made apparent when he continuously tries to break down the hatch in the main hall. Not only does he attempt to bust it open with Sakura on the first day, but he then returns to the hatch with Leon the following day, despite the fact he already admitted there was probably no way to open it from inside, and continues to check into the following chapter. He sees one possible way out, and zeroes in on it, just in case.

The game continues to double down on the irrational, defensive aspects of his character when Monokuma appears again to present the first motive. He again confronts Monokuma directly- pretending as if he knows who's piloting the bear for a fact("We know who you are!")- and attempting to intimidate him into letting them go. Once again, this demonstrates both his desire to protect himself and his classmates, and his unwavering confidence in the intelligence of said classmates, as Chihiro was the one to suggest the mastermind being Genocide Jack based only off her gut feeling. He then proceeds to immediately turn around and make Makoto be the one to go find the motive instead of going himself, getting extremely angry when Makoto doesn't instantly do as he's told- "Hey... Hey hey hey hey hey... HEEEEEY!!! You see how passionately I'm begging you!? What's the big deal? Just check it out real quick!"

He then calms down the second Makoto agrees.

It creates a sort of duality with his character between his more protective nature and his need to exert control, something the game makes a point to call out.

Part 4- Relationships

Mondo develops a fair number of relationships across his time in the game, to varying levels of importance- some antagonistic, some exceedingly complex. We'll go from least to most important to the overarching story.

4.1- Celeste

Celeste and Mondo are written in directly opposing ways, as while they're both fairly short-tempered, Celeste is much better at hiding it. It's by this logic that throughout the early game, oftentimes when Mondo starts to get riled up by the rules of the school and/or their circumstances, it's Celeste who ends up deescalating before he can explode, maintaining a facade of calm where he can't.

4.2- Sakuraoi

While not very touched upon, Mondo does end up developing a mutual respect for Sakura and Hina. When the class splits up to investigate the school on the first day, he joins the two of them in trying to find a way to get back to the outside, and he and Sakura work together to try and bust open the hatch in the main hall.

Hina's the one that stops Mondo from attacking Byakuya in the library, and when Chihiro begins to cry over Mondo saying that 'women are naturally weak anyway', it's Hina who calls him out for 'screaming like a lunatic.'

His relationship with Taka is also directly contrasted to Sakura's with Hina by Sakura herself- "Friendship between men seems very simplistic. Nothing like what I'm used to with girls." "Yeah, for real..." It's an interesting comparison, considering both Sakura and Mondo end up dying and leaving the responsibility of failure on Hina and Taka.

4.3- Byakuya

Byakuya antagonizes Mondo more than once, first as they're splitting up to search the school, and again after the library opens. Both times he seems to take enjoyment from it, calling him unimportant more than once and refusing to even entertain the idea that he might die.

"So miniscule, so insignificant, they couldn't possibly have any kind of influence on the boundless ocean."

"You know, I still just can't believe it..." "Believe what?" "That an uneducated, brain-dead, useless piece of garbage like you has survived this long."

"You all need to try harder. If an opponent isn't going to give it their best, where's the fun for me?"

It's enough of a threat for Mondo to genuinely believe that he's dangerous and want to keep him bound so he can't attack (foreshadowing when Byakuya himself would go one to tie Chihiro up? Probably not but it's a neat connection)

He also goes on to fuck with Chihiro, both by mocking her fear and by purposefully tampering with (what he believed to be) the crime scene of her death. On both counts, this directly affects Mondo, calling him out for his bullying("Hey, shithead! You get off on bullying people that can't fight back?") and letting Byakuya pin the crime of killing Chihiro on himself in the trial.

However, despite all this, Mondo never gets the chance to give Byakuya his comeuppance for his words and actions.

4.4- Ishimondo (yeah these bitches gay)

Similarly to Byakuya, Taka starts in a more antagonistic position, directly opposing Mondo as the unofficial, self-designated 'leader' of the class and remaining insensitive to the feelings of his classmates.

Unlike Byakuya, there's no actual intent to harm here, and their banter remains more focused on their differing ideas on how to help their classmates than anything else. Still, as time continues to pass, Mondo's impatience combined with the recent losses from ch 1 starts to push him over the edge, getting angrier with the class's lack of urgency.

This impatience only leads him to butt heads with Taka more, who's trying to keep the class together and safe first and foremost. On top of that, Mondo's delinquency is directly opposed to Taka's disciplinary background, making it all too easy to see each other as foes. Despite the fact they consider themselves the better type of man to the other, they have similar views on how men are to face each other, leading to the sauna scene.

Both characters' strong-willed determination and stubbornness inadvertently puts them on the same path, attempting to use their physical abilities to prove himself a more worthy leader than the other. It's a simplistic way of deciding, but it's one they both wholeheartedly believe in, and this gives them the opportunity to connect with each other in a way they're unable to with anyone else in the class. Thus, the following morning, when asked about the contest, the two have formed an inseparable brotherhood and refuse to even acknowledge the contest, as having a winner would put them on different levels. Interestingly, Mondo shares the belief with Taka that men bond by being naked around each other("Guys gotta expose themselves to each other, ya know?"), suggesting that he removed his clothes in order for this 'brotherhood' to form.

4.5- Daiya

The first thing we learn about Mondo's older brother in-game is that he was the one who taught Mondo to always keep his promises, no matter the cost. The second thing we learn is that he fucking died. And until nearly the end of Mondo's run in the game, that's all we as an audience need to know. He had an older brother that taught him his core values and passed away, leaving Mondo to carry out his wishes. It's not until after the chapter 2 trial is said and done that we learn anything more about him through Mondo's secret: "That embarrassing memory, that secret he didn't want anyone to know... You know what he did? He killed his own brother!"

It's through Monokuma that we learn the truth of Mondo's history with his brother: Daiya was his only family growing up, and thus, became his role model, the man Mondo himself wanted to become. He respected Daiya and Daiya alone. He followed him everywhere, and together, they formed the Crazy Diamonds, which went from a local biker gang to one of the greatest in Japan. It was through his brother that he developed his biking talent, and acted as his right hand. But some of the gang didn't believe in Mondo or trust him the way Daiya did. As Daiya grew older and prepared to retire, rumors of nepotism circulated throughout the gang, saying that Mondo was nothing compared to Daiya, that he wasn't worthy to take over the gang.

"Daiya created the gang with his bare hands! Mondo's just along for the ride." "Can someone like that be our leader?" "All that'll do is make the gang look bad."

Any accomplishments Mondo had made within the gang didn't count to the gang, or to Mondo himself, because they were put next to the leader's achievements. He compared himself to Daiya as well, feeding into the rumors and developing a deep-rooted jealousy. He felt like he had to be the stronger man, had to prove himself to the gang, had to best his brother or he wouldn't be accepted. So he challenged him. He challenged Daiya, and lost all restraint on the road, charging forward with the desperation of a dead man. And it cost him his brother's life.

His brother made him promise not to let the gang go as he passed; Mondo became shackled by his honor to stay. He fully believes it was his fault Daiya died, and now not only is he indebted to stay with the gang, but can never admit blame for fear of tarnishing not only his own reputation, but tearing his brother's gang apart. His community demands unwavering macho leadership, and he can't afford to break character for even a second.

4.6- Chihiro (will be using mostly he/him due to discussing canon)

Mondo and Chihiro exist on 2 sides of the same coin- toxic masculinity. Both characters (canonically speaking here) are men, but are perceived totally differently, both by those around them and by themselves. And because of this design, when put into the high-stress scenario that they were, they were doomed to drive each other to ruin.

Even before chapter 2 starts, there are multiple instances of Mondo listening to Chihiro and respecting his words without doubt(his theory of Genocide Jack and asking his opinion on '11037'). We've also seen Mondo's confrontational and protective nature in action. So it's no surprise at all when he stands up to Byakuya on Chihiro's behalf when he clams up. And while this is done with good intentions, it only serves to make Chihiro feel weaker. Mondo is physically stronger- anyone can see that- and he's not afraid to mouth off to someone showing excitement at the killing game they were all forced into. So when asked if he's okay the following morning, he can't help but explain himself- he feels weak, and doesn't like having someone else stand up for him. For Mondo, this goes directly against his idea of strength, and can't comprehend why "she'd" possibly care.

With all of Mondo's toughness, he carries not just the expectations of a man, but the misogynist beliefs that often come with it. But regardless of that, he's immediately able to tell he fucked up("Hey, c'mon, don't cry... I-It's my fault, okay? I won't yell anymore...") as far as the narrative will allow him due to writer's bias*. He feels bad about this, genuinely, enough to offer Chihiro his promise as a man. It's enough of a gesture for Chihiro to trust him completely, believing in the man's promise he's emphasized as being the most important thing to him since the very beginning.

(*Writer's bias in this case means the author is also sexist to a degree. Mondo is very clearly meant to be a tough guy with good intentions but because the creator appears to agree with the sentiment that women are weaker on average, we as an audience are meant to take issue with the fact that he's yelling and not the sexist statement. Said bias is made pretty clear by the fact their 'weak boy' character is dressed like a woman to emphasize his weakness and be a 'gotcha', as well as the fact they later have Kyoko force Makoto to tear paper out of Hifumi's rigor mortis hand because Makoto's a boy and she's a girl, even though earlier in that same game she, still a girl, was allowed to examine Chihiro's corpse in enough detail to find her dick. Writer's biases can and does affect the final product, so it's always important to consider that when looking at a character's development to determine whether they're being shitty because they're supposed to be or if it's some fault with the creator themself inputting their biases into something that otherwise wouldn't develop in this way. This has been Critical Consumption of Media 101.)

When Chihiro's found dead, Mondo keeps his head hung, lamenting about the fact that Chihiro wanted to be stronger, and when Makoto points out Chihiro was a woman anyway, Mondo just dismisses it, contradicting his earlier statement.

He respects Chihiro's memory and refuses to speak poorly of him. And while at first glance this is all it appears to be, as the trial unfolds and we learn the truth about what happened to Chihiro, a dual meaning behind this reveals itself- another showcasing of his devotion to the promises he keeps and the desire to protect his friend, even in death.

Chihiro is physically weak; a strong wind could probably knock him over, and he's much more in-tune with his emotions than your average guy. He mourns the losses of Sayaka, "Junko", and Leon all deeply, and has a deep shame for not being able to defend himself against Byakuya. But despite all this, when tested by Monokuma's secrets motive, he doesn't crumble away. He thrives, taking that threat and turning it into motivation to push his limits. He has the self-awareness to know when to ask for help, and isn't swayed by the threat of death. He's physically weak, but is incredibly strong mentally and is able to conquer his fears and face the lie he created for himself. Unfortunately for him, living with this toxic idea of what masculinity is supposed to look like makes him believe the way to do this can only be found in becoming physically stronger, and dies without ever seeing the strength he already had.

Mondo, on the inverse, is extremely physically capable, even without trying. He's 187 cm of muscle, and is confrontational to a fault, only giving him more opportunities to show off that physical strength. But on the inside, he can't face the sins of his past, can't admit his faults, and can't comprehend how to make peace with himself. All this is exacerbated by the weight he carries of leading the gang his brother formed, unable to release that weight from his conscience.

"N-No matter what... I couldn't let the other gang members find out. If that happened, everything would've been ruined... Everything me and my brother worked to create... woulda been destroyed... His death... all the guilt I'd been carrying around... it all woulda been for nothing."

And when Monokuma tests his resolve, he completely crumbles. Unable to admit the truth to himself, he's faced with Chihiro, someone who has the mental capability he could only dream of. That primal fear of breaking the promise he made for his brother on his deathbed, combined with Chihiro's unwavering confidence as he happily chimes how unbothered Mondo must be, blocks out all rationale. He spirals, forgetting where he is and who he's talking to, trying to make the panic go away as he throws the dumbbell in his hand.

Chihiro and Mondo each have everything the other wants, and drive each other to death trying to get it.

Part 5- Chihiro's Trial

For most of the trial, Mondo doesn't appear suspicious at all. So much time is spent on Byakuya's suspicious behavior and his framing of Genocide Jack that you barely notice him. He fully appears to be trying to find Chihiro's killer and find justice for her, following Makoto's line of reasoning to find Byakuya as the killer- with the body's suspension and the subtle differences between Jack's methods of killing and the murder of Chihiro herself. He's all too eager to declare Byakuya as the killer- and though we can't know for sure, he may have genuinely believed it. After all, walking into the girls' locker room to find her body suspended and the message of 'Bloodlust' written on the walls certainly wasn't his doing. Unfortunately for him, that's all Byakuya did, and the conversation continues.

In the end, Mondo brings about his own execution. Even after slipping up with his words, the conversation is able to continue on, sfifting focus over to Chihiro's missing E-Handbook and what exactly happened to it. And when Mondo becomes cornered with Makoto's mention of the sauna, it's not Mondo who goes on the defensive; it's Taka. Mondo gives up; he lets his tough-guy persona go. He finally faces the truth; he's undoubtedly the one that ended Chihiro's life, no matter how he may have wanted to delude himself otherwise. He sees his bro defending him, and he accepts that he has to die. It's not beyond reason to say that Taka's insistence of his innocence was what pushed him to truly admit his guilt, both to the class and to himself. Up until this point, he'd still been trying to play it off and get away with it. But was it worth it to live and kill his bro, and everyone else, just to protect his pride? No. He admits to being the killer, straight up.

"Yeah. Yeah... I did it... I killed him."

"Go ahead, Monokuma. Get it over with... Ask for the goddamned verdict..."

Part 6- The Cage of Death

The first person that comments with some variation of OH MY GOD YOU'RE SO EVIL HOW COULD YOU PUT THE EXECUTION IN THIS gets a cookie. Anyways, the executions in these games are always thematic to the characters and are meant to send them into the worst possible despair in their final moments, so let's break this down.

The execution begins with Mondo forcefully strapped to his motorcycle by Monokuma, who's sporting the same pompadour as him. This may be representative of Mondo feeling confined to the biker gang by his guilt; he was never able to break free of the lie he created about that night. The pompadour is likely just Monokuma making fun of him for his hair again, as the thing that nearly killed him in the prologue.

The kanji written on the motorcycle reads 'Little Black Sambo,' a reference to a children's story of the same title. The entire execution is an inverse of this story as well. In the story, a boy named Sambo is surrounded by four hungry tigers, and gives up his clothes to avoid being eaten. The tigers are all conceited and argue over who's the best-dressed, chasing each other in circles until they churn themselves into butter. Sambo is then able to recollect his clothes and the butter, and his mother uses the butter to make pancakes. This story is well-known and beloved in Japan, but isn't in basically the entire rest of the world on account of the racist caricatures of the POC present in it.

Mondo's execution is a inversed version of the story(and also, because Mondo isn't blasian there's thankfully no directly racist art in it, just tigers). Rather than being the one to trick the tigers, he's the one who's full of pride, and so he's sent into a motorcycle cage and left to spin around and around, while the tigers dance on either side of him. He ends up being the one who's turned into butter, and Monokuma gets to enjoy a delicious plate of Mondocakes. It's meant to represent the downfall of Mondo's macho personality and how he sent himself into a spiral, but loses a lot of its meaning if you aren't familiar with the story.

Part 7- Jealousy

So, we've torn this character apart. We know what makes him tick, but why does that all matter? What was the point of his story? Simple- it's a cautionary tale. It's a warning against everything he stands for. Mondo, through all his faults, is NOT someone you're actually supposed to idealize or hold up as the epitome of manhood in the way that Chihiro does. Rather, he's a deconstruction of everything society views as 'manly', and a demonstration of why that line of thinking is inherently flawed. He's big and tough, he yells and cusses at the people around him, he doesn't have a handle on his own strength. He knocks a dude out for like, 10 hours straight because he was mad at someone else!!! That's not a healthy way to get your frustration out!!!

Simply put, your image and pride are not worth your mental health, and comparing yourself to the people around you not only tortures yourself, but can hurt those who you love. Mondo couldn't stop comparing his own faults to the strengths of others, and ended up pushing himself too hard trying to prove himself. Not only did he lose his brother over it, but he felt like he had to keep all his pain and regret locked up for the sake of an image they'd painted together. It pushed him up to the edge, and he never learned to cope with it in a way that was healthy. It only led to him lashing out more and more, and repeating history when he killed Chihiro. Your trauma can't be fixed by ignoring it or shoving it down; seek out help when you need it. It's okay to confide in your friends; they aren't your enemy, and they aren't making fun of you. That line of thinking will only push you over the edge.

Afterword

So yeah, this was longer than anticipated. Even after doing Taka's and creating a point of reference for myself, I still ended up surprised. I mean, Taka survived longer, so you'd think his would be longer, right? But no, Mondo is not only a very well-established character, but he has more important connections and a much more impactful storyline. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say Mondo may be one of the easiest characters to understand from THH, considering how in-your-face they make him. And I respect that, even if his whole facade can be kind of annoying for me. I totally see why this guy is so popular among fans. Happy birthday Mondo!

I saw this really great thread on twitter by Grungygrim and it definitely highlights my thoughts and frustrations with the story of these games and the Splatoon fandom as a whole. (be forewarned, i get really tilted in this blog post fyi.)

I made a blog post about 2 weeks ago where i said that i was happy that the narrative online that "Callie is an idiot who got kidnapped and then brainwashed/mind controlled against her consent" is going away. Unfortunately I'm gonna have to retract a lot of the stuff i said. I'm still seeing, TILL THIS DAY THAT NARRATIVE ONLINE! IM STILL SEEING SO MUCH MISINFORMATION AND IT MAKES ME REALLYYYY ANGRYYYY!!! As a big fan of Callie, people completely outright ignoring her character arc THAT WAS SET UP SINCE SPLATOON 1 BY THE WAY!!! and not even bothering to look at outside sources for more information and lore genuinely pisses me the fuck off to no end.

No, hypnosis is NOT MIND CONTROL/BRAINWASHING! I DONT WANNA KEEP REPEATING IT! YOU CAN LOOK IT UP! if a person is genuinely uncomfortable and doesn't wish to take the suggestions to heart while hypnotized, THEY WONT DO SO! THEY STILL HAVE CONTROL! Yes, Marie did say "kidnapped" in some of her dialogue, but from her perspective, OF COURSE SHE'S GONNA THINK CALLIE GOT KIDNAPPED! She's known to worry about Callie all the time and ruminate about her, of course she's gonna think of the worst case scenario, doesn't mean she's right though. Was Octavio still in the wrong for hypnotizing Callie in the first place and allowing her to bring out her darker traits more easily? YEAH! NO SHIT! HE'S A BAD DUDE! Not a totally evil person but he has made some awful decisions out of desperation for his people. Why do you think he was so quick to help out the New Squidbeak Splatoon in the finale of Splatoon 3? His people got turned into fluffy monsters by a giant bear, he's all about helping his people.

Hell look at how Callie acts while under the Hypnoshades, she decorates Octo Canyon and her peppy and energetic self is still in tact even during the final boss, she's just more mean and violent. Callie was in an emotional and mentally unwell situation due to her overworking herself and being incredibly lonely as her relationship with Marie was damaged overtime. Callie accepted the suggestions of DJ Octavio and heard him out, AS SAID BY HER FROM THE RELATIONSHIP CHART! She wasn't forced into anything. She didn't suffer "sexual abuse" from Octavio by being forced into skippy clothing as some psychos say online, if she didn't want to wear that outfit she wouldn't cause hypnosis is NOT MIND CONTROL!! I hate having to repeat this over and over again, i hate how the developers basically rushed and ruined this interesting villain arc with stupid shades, only to try and hastily fix it later with an obscure post about A GOD DAMN RELATIONSHIP CHART THAT PEOPLE EITHER DONT KNOW ABOUT OR DONT CARE TO LOOK AT BECAUSE THEY SEE SPLATOON AS SOMETHING FOR KIDS AND TO NOT GIVE ANY CARE TOWARDS!!!!!!!!

I made a god damn giant blog explaining Callie in Splatoon 2 because i felt so frustrated about how my favorite character in the series was being treated and i tried to salvage the story that the writers tried to make. The way that people made her situation worse by saying she got kidnapped and forcibly ""mind controlled/brainwashed"" actually gave me chest pain, thinking about that kind of scenario for Callie actually hurts me... Heck i cant even listen to the Splatoon 2 stage music or final boss music because hearing her reversed vocals makes me feel uncomfortable due to the misinformation online. I hated all the misinformation and i wanted it to stop. HELL EVEN IN GIANT TIMELINE VIDEOS WHERE PEOPLE DO TONS OF RESEARCH THEY STILL GET IT WRONG!! UGHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!! i guess it'll still be the common and popular notion that Callie is an idiot that got kidnapped and then ""mind controlled"" by some shades... oh well... ugh...

I'm sorry if I'm coming off as really angry, i am. It's just, my brain is really hyperfixated on this squid and she means a lot to me. Seeing the way the fandom as well as the writers treat her makes me really mad. I hope i can find some peeps who feel the same way as i do. Misinformation is so frustrating man... i dont even wanna get into the Octarians because that's a whole other can of worms... anyways im done ranting. have a good night or good morning wherever you live y'all.

This was actually kind of a pain but I really want to draw some in game scenes with Hopeless and Sinister - also I can't keep calling her "Hopeless", I wanna get her an "S" starting nickname.

Soft, Sharp, "Stranger", Sinister, and...? Shambly? Struggling? Sapped? Shattered? She's so cute though I love her.

(bit of rambling about Sinister and "Hopeless" down here vv)

I think it's so interesting the way we interact with the stranger princesses.

Instead of cutting Soft's hand off, we can see Quiet actually trying to break the chains instead.

Quiet decides to slay the Sharp, and she defends herself immediately (like in Tower/Adversary?)

Quiet tries to slay the Sinister, but she smiles gleefully (like in Razor?)

With "Hopeless" and "Stranger", Quiet just leaves. Thing is... If we leave Base Princess in chapter 1, she just turns into Nightmare.. so.. um.. maybe a branch off of Soft Princess when we leave her, she turns "hopeless" instead.

And well, Sinister already looks and kinda acts like the nightmarish Princess we see at the end of chapter 1 (leading up to Nightmare lol)

THE PROBLEM HERE! Is that I wanted to make "Hopeless" and Sinister to be like extra bases in this "au".. but I'm really not sure on how to do that in chapter 1 since there are already 3 in-game canon actions that can get you Soft, Sharp, and "Stranger"

Exploration options don't count as factors to change the Princess, at least not in chapter 1.

Maybe an action that might work would be to just.. wait in the woods. We've already tried to fight (confront), we've already tried flight (walk away), but there's really no freeze option. Ideas and perspectives could brew in Quiet's mind as he waits. What if she's dangerous? What if she's nothing but a helpless, frail princess? And when Quiet finally gets bored of waiting, he approaches the cabin, greeted by a princess. If Quiet waits long enough, he'll probably get Stranger in the end anyway.

The Sinister, a byproduct of Quiet's hesitation, he's cowered away from his "duty" for far too long. "Are you here to kill me? I didn't think anyone would be brave enough to remember me." (Wait > take blade)

It'd be hard to give her even a bit of a tender side.. I'm not sure about how to develop her next chapters since there are already so many violent princesses already.

The "Hopeless", she has lost any hope of getting out of there after waiting for so very long. "Hi..? Is anyone up there? Please don't give me false hope." (Wait > ignore blade)

Since she's already a pretty depressed character in chapter 1, it might be hard to give her a sharper, active side, but maybe you can lift her spirit up only to kill her afterwards. Maybe it'll anger her in some way. Her dim little spark, rekindled, just to be shattered once again.

Frederick

First off we have the composer himself, who is quite honestly, the second best at hiding his jealousy. It's not quite seething or anything, but he likes to keep tabs on any rumors concerning you (and him) and if he can, watching you from afar to make sure you're not getting in trouble.

Of course, if he spots someone openly trying to flirt when he has clearly already expressed interest in you, he will very politely request your attention to get you out of that situation, while shooting the person a dirty look over his shoulder. If they try again after that, he isn't afraid of confrontation, manor rules be damned.

All in all, it's not easy to make him jealous, outward action that disrespects him is what sets him off, and he'll be sure to shower you in genuine affection so you don't even think about entertaining such low effort flirts in the future! (You never even considered leaving him, but extra attention is always good, so maybe you're a little complicit in intentionally trying to make him a bit jealous...)

Norton

The worst at hiding his extreme jealousy, cause he usually wears his emotions right on his face, and he isn't polite with anyone. While he will do his best to not be aggressive (because he thinks it will upset you), he can and will absolutely snatch you away from any potential flirt and start kissing you so you can pay any attention to them over him. Because of this, you've both developed a reputation for public displays of affection, though it's usually him initiating.

Still, not everything makes him jealous (at least not right away), sometimes it'll take a few days for him to realize that that other survivor handing you an extra serving of ration while you were preparing for a match was actually an attempt at wooing you... And he'll stop eating dinner, mouth agape, as it registers in his mind, before he's then glaring daggers at that survivor for months after.

At the end of the day, his jealousy is shockingly easy to quell, give him some affection and adore him and he'll be melting into it as per usual. Sure he's the quickest to react, but that goes both ways, as he is quick to calm down and apologize (in his own way) for getting upset... He really does care about you, after all.

Orpheus

The absolute best at hiding his feelings of jealousy obviously has to go to the aloof novelist himself, (though he doesn't get jealous often.) He's a master at remaining neutral, so even though he could be simmering with rage and jealousy under the surface, you'll never know. Still, seeing another survivor flirt with you, it does get him a bit ticked off at the sheer audacity...

In such a situation, he'll easily come up with a reason to swoop you away from them so he can have you all to himself for a while. Though he doesn't want your attention, he more of wants to give you all of his so he can show how he's superior to that flirty bastard... How about a hand drawn bath? A massage? Or even a specially made dessert? How about all in that order?

His jealousy is quiet and subdued, and it washes away just as the grime from your skin does, so he rests easy knowing you'd never betray his affections in such a way. Rather, he's mostly irritated that he hasn't shown enough affection to you that others think they can do better... Rectifying that misunderstanding will be one of his top priorities, until no one could possibly think you'd leave him.

how would jake act around his crush?

based on tarot. i do not know these idols personally. energies are always changing. what i say is NOT straight fact. pls take it with a grain of salt!

4oprx, 8ow, paop, 3osw, paoc, ma, mo, lo&8osw, empr&dea

jake seems like a guy who doesn't fall in love much, but instead develops crushes rather quickly. i can feel his aries moon very vividly here, his emotions burn extremely hot at once, but the fire dies down just as fast. i can see him walking around and spotting three different girls he finds attractive in an instant, he's drawn to people pretty easily. + jake will be quick in approaching his crush, and very direct in the expression of his liking towards them. i pretty much get the four of pentacles in most romantic readings for him, however here it is reversed. i can see this desire of "possession" being more of an internalized and surpressed emotion, meaning he'll feel a sense of attachment to his crush, on a more subconscious level. it won't act out as obviously as it does when he's in a relationship. however, he will definitely be very engrossed in the person he's interested in. i keep hearing "가져야 해" which translates to "i have to get her". jake will not want to lose out on the opportunity to "obtain" his crush, so best believe he'll make sure to express his interest immediately. he will hate the thought of anyone else approaching them before him, and will definitely get jealous if he sees them with any other guy.

(side note, i keep feeling hot while being in this energy.. jake's emotions definitely 🔥 very powerfully, like when he feels he really feels)

sooo much of his ego will be attached to his crushes reaction though. although he'll be good at disguising it, i'm getting a lot of nervous energy internally, in a "oh sht, what do they think? do they like me?" type of way. jake does fear rejection, since he feels that it just makes him look stupid and embarrasses him. it hurts his pride immensely. he's aware that he can be very charming, and kinda views his natural ability to flirt as one of his strong suits. that's why, whether or not his crush gives in to him, will literally make or break him in that moment.

jake is an intuitive guy who's excellent at reading people and figuring out what they're thinking. so he'll be extremely observant of his crushes reaction once he approaches them. he will make sure to carefully study their facial expressions, gaze into their eyes deeply. one thing about this man, is that he knows how to make eye contact. there is eye contact, and then there is scorpio eye contact. it's intense, to say the least. i can see him loving to intimidate his crush with the way he just stares at them while they talk. he enjoys seeing their reaction and having a powerful effect on the person he likes.

he will use very straightforward ways to express his interest verbally. the moment jake sees someone he finds attractive, they are all he sees. the man gets obsessed. he does not care how dramatic it is, yeah he might've known his crush for a few minutes, but they're literally the love of his life. i can see jake telling his crush things like "no lie, i would've regretted it my entire life if i didn't go up to you" and laughing. he'll be amazing at making them think they're his one and only.

if jakes likes you, he'll be crazy good at luring you, and creating a perfect love scenario for you two, within a few minutes. even if you're in a crowded place full with people. in that moment, it'll feel like it's just you two. the energy will be very magnetic and i can feel the air getting kinda heated. you'll just be hypnotized by the way he makes your skin buzz. with his gaze, with his voice, with his words. even if he doesn't touch you or gets too close to you, it'll feel very intimate. he's excellent at smooth talking, and drawing you in so much that you can't seem to be able to take your eyes off him.

- as obsessed he'll be with his crush within that specific moment, it's surprisingly easy for him to move on. he might want to exchange numbers, maybe text you a few times, only to leave you on read in the end. i do see why people could call him a player, because he for sure plays with people's hearts, and can have selfish tendencies in this regard.

as i've stated in other readings, he's either all in or all out. if you only remain as a crush, it's unlikely he will entertain you for much long. if jake actually starts developing interest in knowing you as a person and ends up falling in love with who you are, rather than finding a superficial liking in you, that's when he will prioritize you. i've seen several times in the past, that he's more than capable of putting his urges and desires aside if he finds someone he genuinely loves.

plz ignore if it's spoilers :)) but I am very curious about Daniel's POV in all of this and especially his relationship with Max. Is there a bit of 'what if?' that he feels? Like, if he didn't break Max's trust by leaving, he might be in the position that Charles is in now? Or disappointment that their dynamic was strictly dom/sub in scene and he never got the opportunity to 'be nice' to Max and have that different level of closeness with him. To paraphrase Taylor Swift said....will he always wonder? He clearly respects Charles and his relationship with Max (and is very happy to be Josh Allen's WAG apparently lmaoo) but, I am thinking that there is a subset of his feelings towards max that aren't just platonic/sexual...is that something Daniel has assessed if it is there?

And, we know Charles is a possessive little freak. Does he feel at all resentful or jealous that Danny got to experience these things with Max first? That Max was able to open up to Daniel sexually like this but kept it reserved with Charles. Or is the knowledge that at the end of the day Max chose him and is his forever person enough?

For the record, you have awakened a monster with these questions, because I have been waiting for someone to ask about Daniel. Heartbreak highway ahead.

Daniel and Max are soooooo complicated in the Search History universe. (spoilers for 09000767)

- it's blatantly clear to the RedBull garage that Max was not raised right, or with much love in the home, and the way he throws himself into events and parties and PR events, the way he'll do anything if he thinks it'll get him even a scrap of affection, is something the whole garage, especially Daniel, can see. Max is also a minor when Daniel meets him, so he's not thinking of him in an intimate way at all- he thinks Max has a bit of a puppy love/hero worship thing going on.

- Daniel even jokes with Christian in 09000767 that he's "too responsible about his victory sex to be a father". He views a lot of both his and the garages earlier interactions with Max as raising him, or in the fic they describe it as teaching him how to be a person.

- unfortunately, when all your development happens in a sport like F1, shit gets complicated fast, so Max ends up with some heavy dependencies on bad habits when he's 18/19. (he drinks, he does drugs, he does both at once) Daniel only picks up on this when Max starts really spiraling.

- Daniel steps in to pull Max out of his spiral, and the whole thing is a moral grey area, because what Max needs at that point is professional help, but Daniel doesn't want to tell the team because Max will get kicked out, and Daniel (rightfully) assumes that would be the worst possible thing for Max at the time.

- Max, at this point, has really only been around Jos. He doesn't handle softness or tenderness, and he'll butt heads with anyone and everyone, so Daniel is kind of backed into a corner- to take care of Max, he needs Max to listen to him, to make Max listen to him, he needs to be firm. He doesn't necessarily want to treat Max that way, but he's picking up on the way that Max isn't really capable of looking out for himself, and that he needs someone to step in and tell him what to do.

- Daniel ends up taking Max back to a small place he has in Australia, which is where the dom/sub thing starts, and it's a very slippery slope for the two of them. Daniel starts kind of micro-managing for the two of them, because he notices Max does well with that, and it's clearly making some kind of progress. He tells Max when they eat, when they sleep, when they workout. He's washing Max's hair, portioning his food, and he's constantly watching him.

- Max gets his wires crossed (Daniel is taking care of him and telling him what to do) and starts unintentionally slipping into subspace. Neither of them realize that's what's happening for a while.

- for my 09000767 readers, the first time Daniel gets Max off he's not even really touching him in a sexual way, he's massaging his muscles after a run, and Max is young and on a hair trigger so Daniel kind of just. lets him. He notices what's happening and doesn't explicitly stop it, because he's mentally decided: "If Max needs his positive verbal enforcement to also come with the positive chemical reinforcement an orgasm gives, Daniel can do that."

- Daniel has mentally told himself that if Max makes it a sex thing for himself that's okay, but Daniel's not actually going to fuck him, which leads to a lot of situations where Daniel is talking Max through it, telling him what to do or what not to do, and Daniel doesn't really think about it a whole lot, beyond the fact that it's helping and it's progress and it means Max has a chance of being okay.

- Daniel doesn't really recognize it as a dom/sub thing until Max starts really dropping with him, and even then he's not super informed, he's just like "this seems more intense than it's supposed to be". When he looks it up and starts learning, he realizes they've been doing it all wrong, so he puts a lot of effort into learning how to do it right.

- one of the things Daniel tells Max to do in 09000767 is come up with less destructive coping mechanisms, and Max ends up saying one of them is subbing for Daniel, so they end up still doing it, even when Max is pulled out of his nosedive and ends up doing better.

- throughout this entire thing, Daniel is aware that what he has with Max is not healthy, and it's foundations are inherently wrong. He's always telling himself he won't go further, and every time he still does, and he also is well aware that Max has never actually had a relationship before.

- Daniel recognizes that Max would let him do anything to him, and he fundamentally feels wrong about the whole thing, especially because when Daniel is actually with someone, he wants to be nice to them, doesn't always want to have to be firm, and he feels like he needs to be that way with Max.

- Daniel is also aware of Charles, and pretty much everyone except Max has always been able to tell that the two of them are special, that they really mean something to each other. He kind of has a feeling the whole time that Max is going to end up with Charles, it's inevitable.

- Daniel gears his time with Max more towards learning healthier things, but he's never really tender with him the way he wants to be, because he and Max are never going to get to be that way, and who is Daniel to get in the middle of that?

- Max is convinced that he loves Daniel, and that's just another reason Daniel knows their relationship is wrong, because Max doesn't know what love is yet, and Daniel knows it. So he breaks Max's heart, and he leaves Redbull. Leaves Max.

- when Daniel goes to Renault, he leaves Max behind, because it's a lesson Max needs to learn. (and also, because Redbull needs a primary driver, and Redbull loved them both, and you can't have that in a team. The team cannot love both and succeed at the same time, something has to give, and Daniel has only ever wanted the best for Max. Daniel knows how to learn a team, how to adjust, but Max will never be able to thrive anywhere but Redbull.)

(Max's first real heartbreak is Daniel's final act of love. He will never see that.)

(Charles can.)

- Charles enters the grid and can immediately tell Max and Daniel have something going on, because he's never seen Max like that with anyone, but he doesn't particularly care at the time, too busy with racing and trying to impress Ferrari, and as long as Daniels not trying to claim he's Max's rival they have no problems.

- obviously, the entire grid can feel the tension when Daniel leaves Redbull, and no one really talks about it, buts it's an unspoken thing. Max closes off a bit to the other drivers, although he goes home with people at parties a lot, though it starts to really taper down right before covid hits anyways.

- when Charles and Max first get together, Max assumes that they're strictly hookups for several months, doesn't realize until they're out to dinner and he asks why Charles is bothering, he could've just invited him to his hotel room.

- Charles then assumes Max's last partner treated him like absolute shit, and he's furious about it, before Max catches on, and Max is mature enough (mostly) to look back at his situation and recognize it for how complicated it actually was, and they have a whole conversation about it.

- Charles realizes midway through the conversation that Daniel really did love Max, and he realizes at the same time that Max will never see that, will only ever see Daniel leaving him.

- Charles has some moments in Search History where he realizes Daniel still loves Max, might always love him just a little bit, and he can't find it in him to be upset or angry about it, because what Daniel did for Max to help take care of him Charles can never repay him for.

- in 1+1+1, if Daniel wasn't also dom'ing Charles, it might've been a problem, but instead it's a genuine three way thing for that weekend, and it also gives Charles a slight peek behind the curtain, at the way Daniel wanted to love Max, the way he can't.

- "It is very easy, being sweet to him." "Yeah. It is." This right here is the entire summarization of Daniel and Charles' relationship. Charles stating it like a fact, like the sky is blue, because it's something he gets to do, as easy as breathing. Daniel stating it like a jail sentence, because it's something he never got to do, and never will, it's a reminder of something he'll always wonder if he could've handled better, something he'll never get to have.

If you read all that and you're thinking "fuck you Sunny, that was way angstier than it needed to be", here is your consolation prize:

- Daniel does eventually end up with someone in a healthy relationship, where he gets to treasure them the way he wants, and he gets loved endlessly in return. (no spoilers.)

YANDERE HP GOLDEN ERA: SLYTHERIN BOYS X DORMMATE READER PT2

so more of the slytherin boys was in the lead last night and inspiration struck, but i still will be doing whichever option has the most votes by the end of the week, and eventually i'll probably have all of the concepts up, if you haven't already you can vote here.

so i did more reading up on mattheo and lorenzo, and i honestly don't know where to pick up from, i'm thinking of making this my main concept for yandere hp and building on it.

the last post specified the darling as the dormmate of our dear slytherin boys here, but many of the headcanons can be applied to a fem darling, or darling from another house. it's quite intriguing to imagine someone who had grown up close to draco, theo, ect. getting sorted into a different house; i can honestly see this being a trigger for the boys' yandere tendencies to develop.

sure theo was attached before, but he had never even entertained the possibility of not getting sorted into slytherin together. and what do you mean the darling won't be there to knock draco down a peg when he won't stop talking down to goyle?. how is blaise supposed to get through seven years of not watching his darling everynight whilst they sleep?

i might expand on this in my future ravenclaw (possibly hufflepuff) posts. for now i want to delve into the individual yandere characteristics of each slytherin (i'm considering adding pansy, adrian, other slytherins) to the concept if anyone else is interested.

DRACO MALFOY (cast tom felton):

i think i've made it painfully obvious draco is alot to deal with as a yandere. he's got a bit of everything and even more; but overall, he is overwhelmingly obsessive. his obsession is driven by irrepressible thoughts of his darling. ever since he was a child, separating from them has simply felt wrong, i think he's likely to have known the darling the longest, perhaps having grown up close to them.

maybe his darling is a member of the black family, or a lestrange, or hails from another prominent family, thus he has been brought up closely next to them.

there's no one he feels more comfortable around, his darling is his home, which would be sweet if he weren't willing to kill and maim others to keep his darling with him.

his darling was probably hoping, praying to get sorted into any house but slytherin, it didn't take a ravenclaw to know draco would only get worse if they shared a dorm/common room. immediately, he claims the bed next to his darling, and already has pestered his father into arranging them a private dorm together, but that old oaf dumbledore refused because "all students must be treated equally." what bullshit. if you ask draco.

he won't let his darling interact with anyone "don't lower yourself and associate with the likes of them" and socially isolates them. don't you dare wander off, it'll end in the biggest tantrum, and don't even think about dating, the entire slytherin dorm will implode on itself.

draco needs constant attention, his darling is all he thinks about so he expects them to only think about him as well. you'll quickly learn that it's best to give draco the attention he wants. it's not that he plans to give his darling a hard time, but he becomes moody, both mean and clingy at the same time. he'll have his arm around his darlings waist whilst accusing them of being a blood traitor, and attacking their insecurities, then a few hours later he crawls into bed whispering sweet nothings.

it leaves his darling on the edge, because sometimes these mood swings happen even when paying him the attention he so desperately craves.

this could lead to his darling keeping a facade up in front of him, so he has less ammunition during his mood swings, but if he suspects his darling of not being as open and comfortable around him as he is them, all hell breaks loose.

THEODORE NOTT (fancast lorenzo zurzolo):

but he's not as sensitive about his darlings perception of him as theo is. perhaps sensitive isn't the correct word as much as demanding. theodore demands his darling be open and honest with him, he wants to know about every ache and thought they have. however he is best characterised as a possessive yandere. above all he cannot live with the thought of sharing his darling with anyone.

sharing, in theo's mind, is anyone even casting a glance upon his darling. why isn't his company enough? why does his darling have to interact with undeserving rodents like malfoy, potter and the weasleys? he would completely abandon his life outside of his darling if they just asked would anyone else do that for them? no!.

they're the person that matters most to him, and he wants to be the only person his darling cares about as well.

theodore has likely known his darling since childhood, perhaps they shared similarly harsh parents/guardians, and bonded over that. it would make it all the more easier to theo to manipulate them into staying close to him.

his company is not as dreadful as draco's, and he doesn't demand physical affection and praise as much as the latter does, not if his darling is not willing. but there is still a part of him that yearns to press up against them and never let go.

he simply cannot handle his darling distancing themselves from him, and is quick to resort to threats, blackmail, emotional manipulation, anything that he thinks will keep him and his darling close.

he is another one who will shamelessly confess his love and attraction to his darling, and has already 'claimed' them in a strange way; everyone at hogwarts seems to identify theo out of the slytherin boys as the one the reader is 'dating', to theo's delight. his darling doesn't have to agree with the rumours or even think of them as a couple, as far as he's concerned, they've been together since they met.

MATTHEO RIDDLE (fancast benjamin wadsworth):

the only one who i imagine the darling meets when they start at hogwarts is mattheo. whichever year he starts at hogwarts, he's immediately intrigued by them (for whatever reason). maybe the rest of his dormmates take poorly to his blood status, and the darling is the first to welcome him, or maybe ol' moldy voldy has tasked him with extracting something from the reader.

no matter what jumpstarts his obsession, it develops at an alarmingly fast rate, one week he's glancing over at them in class, the next he's invading their thoughts whilst they sleep and following them in the halls.

his darling likely won't take too easily to his sudden interest in them, they've already been dealing with several unsettling slytherins for years, and are probably always on guard.

not like mattheo cares. if he wants to be close to them, he will. he knows draco and his gang have to treat him with courtsey if they want their families to stay in the dark lords good graces, as does his darling. so he inserts himself (quite violently) into his darlings life.

it should be harder than it is considering his short temperament and his darlings cautious nature, but he's able to understand his darling on an intense level due to his inherited legilimency.

no matter how uncomfortable his darling is around him, he can just invade their mind and lock them in a room with him if he wants to spend time with them. and he always gets what he wants.

he seldom reveals that he is reading their mind, lest they feel the need to develop occlumency. it also gives him a kick knowing their raw thoughts, he could never even say a word to his darling and still know them better than anyone else does. including the other slytherins.

deep down mattheo's incredibly insecure about his connection with his darling; out of theo, blaise, goyle, enzo, draco, he's known them for the least amount of time. he's the only half-blood. he's evil incarnate son of the dark lord himself. he'd only bring them pain and suffering but he can't bring himself to let go of them either.

whilst theo, draco, enzo and even goyle will confess their affection for their darling, and perhaps admit to what they've done, mattheo will only do the latter, and does not provide any context as to why he hexed weaslette after the darling complimented her quidditch skills, nor will he elaborate on why he must take showers at the exact same time as his darling everyday.

BLAISE ZABINI (cast louis cordice):

blaise shares his concealed affection for the darling. you could be none the wiser to his deep seeded affetion for you for years only to suddenly be told that he's your betrothed and now he refers to himself as your fiance and invites you to sleep in his bed as if it's the most normal thing ever.

among them all, blaise is the most calm and calculated. he knows that following his darling around and monopolising their interactions makes him look bad but sometimes he just can't help it. he has to sneer at granger who the darling got paired with in potions, and make remarks about how disgusting muggle and mudbloods are.

but he doesn't think he's better than muggleborns; he thinks he's better than everyone. i think blaise is the most likely to develop an obsession for a shallow reason, maybe the readers is aphrodite personified, hails from a prominent pureblood family that his mother is encouraging him to marry into or is incredibly intelligent, their actual character couldn't matter less to him. from the moment he decides they're his, they're his.

blaise is uniquely one of the only ones who actually wants his darling to love and show him affection of their own accord (meaning he would be nice enough to give them amortentia).

he wants them to be happy, but he also wants them to be entirely dependent on him. he takes on a sort of big brotherly role, he encourages them to eat and sleep well. he wants to be the one they ask opinions on outfits, schoolwork, ect. he thinks if they rely on him for everything, it'll be impossible for them to leave.

LORENZO BERKSHIRE (fancast louis patridge):

out of all of them, enzo is by far the 'softest', as mentioned in the previous post, he's the 'sane, normal' one out of all of them. he doesn't act strangely creepy (sorry blaise it's true), disturbingly controlling (don't deny it mattheo), possessive, obsessive or devoted to them. he comes across as the 'best friend', the sidekick in every romance novel that offers advice and stays out of the drama.

this is because he initially see's his fixation on his darling as nothing but a desire to protect them from those lunatics he and his darling call 'friends'. but why does his heart drop when he see's them getting pulled into a room by mattheo, or when blaise stares at them as if they are a veela. it's not jealousy it's concern for his poor mate. yeah, that's it.

and why can't he stand to be left out of their attempts to evade the others, or when they don't confide in him, whether their troubles are slytherin related or not.

he's probably the only one who realises how messed up what they all do is, the rest justify it, but when enzo eventually gives in to his obsession he doesn't pretend to be in the right. he's apologetic but he just can't let them go.

the only thing that would set him off would be them distancing themselves from him. he can handle sharing, but the idea of his darling avoiding him, not viewing him as the safe haven from the rest really drives him to insanity.

i also think lorenzo would be the one who convinces everyone to share their darling once shit hits the fan and everyone wants to take the reader for themself.

GREGORY GOYLE (cast josh herdman):

goyle is honestly just happy he gets to be around his darling. yeah, it would be nice if he could have them to himselves, and not just be a lackey for draco to sabotage the others. maybe his darling treats him with a bit more benevolence and he's grown attached to them over the years.

always willing to lend a helping hand, i think he's the least possessive out of all of them, and is best characterised as a devoted yandere. whilst the rest of them want to maintain some level of control over the reader, he's content just being near them. he doesn't even have to talk to them but it's a plus.

i wonder if he's actually as bad at school as he acts or if he just doesn't bother listening so that the darling has to dedicate time to tutoring him. no one knows.

goyle will really have to fight tooth and nail to be apart of the sharing arrangement enzo, draco, theo, mattheo and blaise somehow eventually come to. (that i will expand upon in a future post because this is getting long).

let's talk about that one scene in oops

(and fizzarolli in general bc me and my autism r obsessed with this scene and haven't seen someone break it down. also ft. blitz lmao)

just a general scene and vague character breakdown/analysis!

i first of all want to admire the perfect representation of best friends to enemies with blitz & fizz because ugh.

And like Blitz tells everyone this but the way it's so malicious here. Just the perfect simple dig and Fizz's little shit eating grin because it delivered how he knew it would sdfkjsdkf. Shoves Blitz to the side because really that's all he cares to say. Fuck you and what you did to me, bye bye <3 Fizz is so for talking shit and dipping (House of Asmodeus) I love how messy it is but also shows how he really doesn't hold malice for Blitz otherwise. Obviously we see this front and center later in the episode once they start reconnecting, but I like the subtlety and how he's so willing to snap at Blitz despite his usual anxiety with confrontation.

Blitz also knowing exactly what to say to really piss Fizz off once things escalate <3

(Fizz literally so smug and content with himself lmfao)

(smirk wiped off bc hey that's the thing i'm sensitive about!!)

But Fizz keeps his composure. And if you'll let me be alarmingly gay for a second, I love how his version of keeping his cool as a messy gay is managing to basically recreate this drag race confrontation in what is probably my favorite set of Fizzie lines.

and now my personal favorite exchange of this entire scene that is criminally underrated imo:

love his face after this line. I SUPPORT DISABLED PEOPLES WRONGS sfjdlkfsdd. literally so fucking nasty with his clown wit but also so justifiable because yeah blitz did just pull this nightmare and dip in fizz's pov. i cannot wait for that to get touched on more likeeee why were they kept apart ugh.

and finally!!

this cut to blitz,, specifically the scarred side of his face is sooo good.

the face of a man who just achieved critical vicious mockery vs. the face of a man that knows he can only win this interaction one way now

Blitz does deserve a little violence maybe <3 Fizz underestimated his ass jjdkfsdlk.

Idk I just love how indicative this whole interaction is for their characters but especially Fizz, it's a perfect build-up for him. Fizz has major imposter syndrome with dual layers because of general haters but especially because of Mammon and Asmodeus. Not on any fault of Ozzie's,, we just see Fizz obviously thinks he isn't fully deserving of their relationship/his situation and the healthy dynamics of it and so do most major news outlets apparently askjfsk.

It'll be really interesting to see how his character develops in future episodes because I feel like a lot of what I've rambled about here has come to a resolution after 2 Minutes Notice in the musical special lmao. I really like how here when he goes to compose himself, this is how he does it.

Makes me wonder how many times him and Ozzie have had the self-worth and imposter syndrome conversation before it finally stuck in the Mammon Musical Special. I just love their relationship and how they compliment one another,, and how it projects into Fizz's other relationships because they're healthy for one another. Love my OTP love Blitz & especially love Fizzie. Obviously.

Dev's birthday!! Look at him. For some reason, the fact that his drones are here in 2D is funny to me... He's a little cartoon guy. Hazel is very cute.

I have a note here that says Dev's birthday is separated from Founder's Day by 9 years, 7 months, 14 days. So, he's had Peri for 4.5 months?

Something something, Juandissimo spent 3 seasons getting fired and bounced around Fairy World because he couldn't stop crying over how much he loved and missed Remy and finally broke Da Rules to return his memories, something something, Peri came here for a good time and he is honestly feeling so attacked right now.

I don't know what I'm trying to say, but... u get it. Two spoiled bullies, two very different dynamics. It's not the kid; it's the willingness of the fairy to meet them where they are... and love unconditionally.

Local celebrity kid who spent his Spellementary School life getting fawned over never developed the social skills to make friends and doesn't know how to deal with people viewing him as a flawed three-dimensional person.

For some reason I'm getting flashbacks to the end of "School of Crock" when Poof referred to his classmates as "his friends and Foop."

Okay, I thought Dev would freak out (/negative) over seeing boots since his dad literally unveiled a statue of him kissing his beloved boots while disregarding his son, but... he likes them! Despite that emotional blow, he is a Dimmadome to his core.

-> Dev getting his very first pair of little cowboy boots with tiny spurs 'fic, please.

-> Toddler Dev trying on his dad's or grandpa's boots 'fic, please.

Dev: Why didn't YOU think of getting me [rocket boots], pickle-brain Peri? Peri: Because my job is to grant you wishes! Not to read your mind!

Yikes... It's been a long few months for them.

Also, Cosmo and Wanda choose this moment not to overstep on the parenting relationship here and that's fantastic. Sorry, Peri- You're on your own for this one.

-> Wanda's totally willing to get Peri out of here if he needs it. So... she probably did notice Dev being snippy with him, but actively chose not to step in since Peri told her not to overstep in "Lost in Fairy World." Interesting.

Hm. I wonder if Peri has an animal form? I imagine he takes the form of tech or something that wouldn't catch Dale's eye. He probably sleeps in Dev's bedroom though (and/or "Hassle in the Castle"-esque pocket space).

-> Peri in his debut: /confidence oozing from every pore

-> Peri 4.5 months later: my crops are dying. I'm crops.

I love this family.

Though I feel like... it puts a weird level of stress or professionalism on Peri and Dev. I don't really have the words for it, but something something, maybe Peri's first assignment shouldn't have been so close to his parents because they are clearly struggling to let him speak or handle things himself. It's nice he can ask advice, but I feel like if they're around too often and Peri defers to them, that blurs lines and will be really confusing for Dev.

Who do you listen to if your fairy is telling you "Yes" and his parents - who have no technical authority over you but have ambiguous semi-authority in your fairy's mind - are telling you "No?" That's workplace tension waiting to happen.

And Peri is clearly trying to set his workplace boundaries - we saw that in "Lost in Fairy World" especially - but Cosmo and Wanda keep kinda undermining him and bringing family vibes into work, and he's also grown now, so... Yikes. I love them, but that's rough, buddy.

Forget that- Is that Vicky?

?? Vicky is still young? Or is this Vicky's daughter? MARK, what did you do? I know you literally have clones of her, sir.

I mean, I guess it's not out of the question she'd look the same years later- she had the same hair when she was 5 back in "The Switch Glitch" and she clearly likes that style, but I wasn't expecting it, especially since she's probably close to Dale's age and he's clearly beefed up (and I think gotten taller). Huh. Well, all righty.

The golden cowboy boots on display with the "In honor" plaque are not doing anything to disprove my tentative theory that Doug Dimmadome has passed on and that's why Dale is so clingy towards his boots.

Pfft, the "Icky Vicky" song is still a thing.

SLKJDF, I'm amazed they carried through with Vicky being the one to put Dale to work at the lemonade stand. I'm still confused as to whether she started it at age 9 or took over from someone else.

DEV DOESN'T KNOW HER???

Dale, you are a terrible dad. How can he be so bitter about his past and tell his son horror stories about Vicky, and/or not keep constant watch for her? I can't believe he hasn't sued her into oblivion.

-> It's because he doesn't tell Dev stories unless it's to gripe about how he needs to pull his weight because "My life was so hard when I was your age," isn't it?

I like how Dev is trying to lightly call to Peri for help without attracting attention or moving his lips. Geez, man- That's gotta be so stressful when you're trying to rely on someone new to help you and they don't show up. He didn't have him in the Hocus Poconos and he can't get him out here when he needs him. This is gonna be great on his trust issues, I'm sure.

Dev will hang with his friends, but he's not putting down his stuff.

This next face he makes (without words) to signal "Hey, I'm doing my best" is so funny to me. He's like. "Yeah, I don't have to say anything; she knows what's going on here."

... I'm confused. What is up with Wanda and Cosmo right now? Why are they leaving notes to Dale that out Hazel as a godkid and them as fairies (who are disguised as humans)?

I get that they're not thinking ahead and are spelling out notes while they talk to each other, but surely they should know better than to leave evidence, especially after they saw Cookie get 10k years in prison for revealing the existence of Fairies and we know Hazel could be separated from them. Peri clearly knows this is a bad idea. Utterly incomprehensible to me.

"Icky Vicky" remix!!! Also, Dev handles rocket boots way better than Kevin Crocker did.

Dev "It's not a children's party; I'm a BIG KID!" Dimmadome - Dude, you just turned 10. I mean... That is double digits and you're just a little guy, so... good job.

I'm so glad I was right and that Dev isn't allowed to drink lemonade. That's hilarious. I'm obsessed. He wants it so much...

A.J., Poof, and Crocker sure changed a lot considering Vicky looks the same.

I love Dev covering Hazel's eyes so she doesn't see the partially naked money-covered mural of his dad.

The fact that this is even in the show is hilarious; it says so much to me. Dale "Obsessed with flaunting where I am now in life" & Dev "Instantly doing damage control so my BFF doesn't feel uncomfy or think I'm weird and ditch me" Dimmadome.

....... I said BFF, but I'm pretty sure Dev said Trev was his BFF in Episode 1 and now I'm wondering why we haven't seen them together at all. Hm. I'm gonna have to circle back to Episode 1 later; I might be misremembering.

Their names are Dev and Trev... Where is this silly duo? We're bein' ROBBED!

Peri's grown out of calling Wanda "Mama"- just "Mom." Good note for me in case I want to write something in line with New Wish's canon specifically, since I've always used "Mama" in 'fics even when he's older.

50 years of deep-seeded trauma... This would be a fantastic title card or redraw. Maybe I'll draw it someday.

Cannot believe Peri has been whiplashed back and forth by being snarked at, coddled, reminded of his Hocus Poconos trauma, and now he's facing Vicky trauma all within a couple episodes. It's been a long 4 months.

Peri @ Vicky: "She's REAL!? I thought I imagined her as a baby!!!" is he ok.

-> This is very funny to me because it plays into my headcanon of Poof growing up to forget most of his time with Timmy, including his name, and beating himself up about it.

I don't think Peri has gone one episode without going full panic mode over something. This kid's not lasting long as a godparent. Dev's gonna crack him like a nut and then Jorgen's going to wipe the floor with him.

omg, Dev needs his godparent to stand up for him against Vicky and Peri's having a MELTDOWN and hiding behind his mom. Um???

Holy cow, I've never seen him break like this, except maybe when he gained his fear of the dark in "Lights Out." That includes his many brushes with death and when Fairy Court unraveled his existence from the timeline.

-> I cannot believe I made a joke about how I wasn't sure how things could get more traumatizing for Peri than having to face the Hocus Poconos and yet here we are. Yeah, he's gonna put in his two weeks' notice like... tomorrow.

He ditched his godkid! Peri!!! You are a grown-up now! You can't do that!!

Okay, so Vicky is as tall as Cosmo and Wanda, so she can be an adult, sure. Also, Cosmo and Wanda finally getting the chance to stand up to her <3 I don't remember her tormenting them that much but maybe it's secondhand spooks.

-> Peri's meltdown continues in the background. That is some DEEP trauma.

Even if this was a non-Vicky person, would Peri be mentally equipped to deal with it? Because he's reacting badly for a guy whose memories are so wobbly, he can't remember if they were real. He's not there for Dev and he clearly has some issues to work out.

Ooh, Dev feels like his dad replaced him with Hazel... Dev out here like "Wait a sec, the reason my dad's not been around in 4.5 months is because apparently he's obsessed with you?" Oh boy... Those three expressions just tell it all (The horrified realization, the despair, the anger...)

omfg, Dev just found out Hazel "wished to become friends with him" ("I wish I knew why he acted so mean") and he feels like he's not good enough to be liked without a wish and everything was a lie, and he is CRASHING and screaming. Oh, geez louise. Terrible job, everyone!!! Everybody loses!!

I really like this night city skyline. It's so pretty. I love this decompression scene. Really good storytelling move and also nice to look at. I want to write with these vibes.

Wanda said it's been a "couple decades" since her encounters with Vicky. So... is Vicky like, 36?

I could've sworn Vicky and Dale were close to the same age; he has a teen body design in "Nectar of the Odds."

His age might've been adjusted though, or at least he may have started at a very young age. He told Dev in "Stanky Danky" that "when he was his age, he was working in a factory making lemonade every Saturday" and missed all the Saturday cartoons. This is Dev's 10th birthday, so maybe the thought here is "Dale started at age 9 or 10, then stopped at age 16 or 17."

If that's true, then yes, he's Vicky's age.

So. In that case, that screenshot of distraught Dev I put up in my "Battle of the Dimmsonian" post and captioned as "This is probably how Dale used to look at Vicky and then she kicked him down the stairs" is probably age-accurate too, and that's even worse.

Let's say it's been 2 decades and Dale was 16 then, now 36. That would mean he had Dev... Let's say around age 26 or 27.

-> That would jump us from 2002 [in my 'fics] to Dev being born around 2012, with New Wish taking place more or less around 2022. I think I'm okay with that- We saw in "Fearless" that the Enrichment Academy's most recent champion win was 2019 and they win every few years, so that makes perfect sense.

I think my 'fic Along the Cherry Lane ends with Tammy and Tommy close to age 10 in 2020? Let me see...

Riddle's Cloudlands AU notes: - Timmy parts ways with Cosmo and Wanda on October 15th, 2010 - Chloe parts ways with Cosmo and Wanda the night of March 20th, 2011. - Tammy is born September 2013 & Tommy February 2016 - Tammy and Tommy receive Cosmo and Wanda as godparents in 2023 (He's 8 or 9, she's 10 or 11)

Hmm... That's riding really close to Hazel's timeline. New Wish will probably be over by the time I'm done with my current longfics and ready for Along the Cherry Lane, so I won't worry about it for now, but it'll be nice to have these notes later in case I do want to try fitting this into my canon. We'll see if we get any hints about Tammy or Tommy in future episodes. I'd love to see Hazel meet Timmy with his kids, though I doubt we'll see that.

-> I also would not be opposed to kicking "Channel Chasers" out of New Wish's canon because it's not an episode I have attachment to and, well... we don't have flying cars or robot babysitters yet.

... If I were to keep everything, I feel like I'd rather take New Wish as canon and then put "Channel Chasers" after it (even if that violates the "20 years later" label) than commit to "Channel Chasers" and kick Hazel away. I was dreading worldbuilding a society that gained flying cars and robots within 20 years anyway, so I wouldn't be mad.

-> But I'll have to decide how much New Wish I want to incorporate into my canon, seeing as I usually prioritize the OG series in Cloudlands AU above spin-off media. Hmm.

Again, I won't be finishing this 'fic for a long time, so New Wish might be over by then and I'll have more information to work with.

Gosh your game is extremely interesting and twisted (in an enjoyable way!), I love how exhilarating it is (havent felt this way for a game since BTD 2 LOL) and how you have developed your characters into individuals that stand out with their own respective thought out, unique, personalities and storylines that we can also interact and mess with as we see fit, being the MC. The underlying story that seems to be happening simultaneously to the romance one with Kevin has got me hooked too >:3 I can’t wait to see what youre planning for this game. much loveee from me, and i hope you keep producing stuff in the future if you can, youre very talented imho. Also, I just finished the demo and I have some questions for u that’ve been bouncing around in my pea brain

Let’s say the MC got Kevin bathed, treated them with kindness, didn’t try to put the collar on them, got him comfortable to their home, etc., but at the same time teased him ruthlessly as long as he stayed as a dingo, while the MC was also still unaware that hes not actually a normal dog yet, what would he do? Although in this scenario the MC doesn’t do mean things to him with any malicious intentions, but instead does so in an attempt to see him react because MC finds it very cute and fun when he does or something. (Think of likeee cuteness aggression.) for example, doing things like blowing on his ear or face, offering him food with their palm just to pull it away last second, or lifting him up to their chest while spinning around the air, just stuff that would probably annoy a regular dog lol. Would Kevin keep note of that and retaliate later when he reveals himself? or just ignore it because the delusions he has of mc are that strong XD

Along w that, on a more “adult” note :3, does Kevin go through heat and mating seasons like certain animals do or does that not affect them because of their human side? And if he does go through that, can he control himself enough to respect any boundaries MC has, if they are allowed to have any, or nahh?

Sometimes I go into my inbox to read this ask and a few others when I'm not feeling motivated enough heheh

I have quite a lot planned storywise heheheh, I hope I don't dissapoint! I'll try to keep making stories, I already have a second OLiE story in my head heheh

For the first question Kevin would play along for a little bit out of curiousity, they'd find some of the things cute and some light punishment worthy! Kevin would transform back at the point MC takes their paws and tries to lift him, so they can hold MC's hands

Then he'd partake in his own cuteness aggression, gripping MC's hands tight while they're still in shock and pulling them to the floor to tease them for being so silly "Don't you know not to rile a big stray dog up? Animals can be unpredictable MC! You're so silly..." He'd be crouching down above them playing with their face like a puppies, and giggling while he makes fun of MC

I actually drew something for the first question but I lost it, so I made a scribble for the next question!

Kevin goes into heat!

Depending on the relationship with MC, Kevin will either not respect any boundaries at all, or respect some boundaries but not personal space, guilt trip MC, be very pushy and whiny, and try to subtly rub as many phermones and and dingo guy stink on to MC in the hopes it'll get them in the mood

They'd be quite bitey and scratchy too >:))

Aria lore!

I have posted Aria before here and here, but I wanted to have at least one post dedicated to his lore and backstory on my blog! See it as a proper introduction kinda.. though it'll mainly just be me blabbering.. you can read about him under the cut! ໒꒰ྀིᵔ ᵕ ᵔ ꒱ྀི১

Aria Nazari, gen 5 of my legacy, 17 years old, he/him, half persian. Bisexual, currently in the closet.

Bio! Writing this made me realise i made him go through sm this poor kid

Raised by parents consumed by addiction, Aria and his two older siblings had to fend for themselves, growing up under very poor circumstances. He keeps minimal contact with his siblings in present day.

Aria was put into a foster system at age 10, following the death of his parents. After being placed into his first foster home, he met Mable and Nathan at school. The trio quickly became inseparable.

Mable is Aria's closest friend, the one person he confides in. Nathan was his first in a lot of aspects; his first love, first kiss and first relationship. Before this blooming love got the chance to develop any further, Nathan passed away in a motorcycle accident. This marked the end of the few years of genuine happiness in Aria's life.

He bounced between various foster homes, his charismatic spirit and histrionic personality disorder masking the scars of a deeply traumatic childhood. His journey took a turn when he was placed with a new foster family, a couple determinded to offer him warmth and stability, albeit for just one year.

He was hesitant about attempting to get close to them, as he knew how easily his previous foster homes had dropped him. Conflicts and strained relationships followed, as Aria's behaviour was far from exemplary in high school. His foster parents Deryn and Xin Yi's love for him however, remained.

Mable kept in contact with him throughout the years following their separation, but the two didn't get to see each other again until their senior year of high school. They reunited at age 17, when Aria moved back to Evergreen Harbor to live with Deryn and Xin Yi purely by chance. He told Mable about the nature of his relationship with Nathan, which came as no surprise to her. She literally had her suspicions since day 1.

Aria met his next love interest, Niamh, at a party. Immediate attraction and easy-flowing conversations followed. He eventually asked her out on a date. Despite Aria's initial trust in his ability to move on from Nathan, frequent panic attacks and feelings of guilt proved the opposite. Niamh confronted him on the night of prom with a false rumour about him cheating on her. He hesitantly went along with it despite it being untrue, thinking it would be an easier and less painful way out compared to coming clean about his relationship with his dead friend. Didn't go as planned obviously, both of them were heartbroken and Aria got his ass beat by Niamh's best friend Nika.

He is currently prepping his uni application with Mable. The two are aiming to go to Britechester together.

Some random facts

Music has always been an outlet for Aria, ever since his elementary school teacher introduced him to the piano. He's a talented singer too!

He's afraid of death and the dark.

He smokes and grows his own weed but stays away from other drugs.

He picked up babysitting as a side gig, partially to avoid raising his foster parents suspicions regarding the money he makes from selling weed.

And just ignore the fact that the timeline probably doesn't match up with the day/night of the original plot

Summary:

In which a reader finds herself tossed into the pages of her favorite web novel after her untimely death. A novel of a novel within reality. It's a reader's dream, right? Well, this reader vows to bring the right epilogue to her beloved character, Kim Dokja. She will give him the happiest of endings. Or she will die trying.

Episode V. Chapter 7 — Reapers and Revelations

[You are the Reaper.]

"Spiteful creature," I muttered, hoping the dokkaebi streamer was listening. My eyes were stuck on the new complication that had just presented itself.

--If you pass this, I'll perform your request.

Bihyung's message appeared in my mind. I wanted to snap back that if I failed, I would die, but I didn't want to aggravate him further. I replied with a simple "OK."

Killing two birds with one stone—not only was he getting back at me, but he was attempting to sow discord within our tentative new members, a great source of entertainment for constellations. I would have applauded his brilliance, if I wasn't the fucking target.

[The constellations of deceit and strategy are excited to see how you perform!]

Yeah, I'll bet you are, I thought. They probably paid the bulk of probability needed to make this happen.

Around the room, people were grumbling about the hidden scenario.

Dokja was staring at me with a terrible expression on his face. He signaled to meet far away from everyone else and rapidly pulled me into a close discussion.

"Is this related to that thing with Bihyung?" he breathed out. "I've never heard of a hidden scenario like this before."

I gulped. "Um, it might be. Yeah."

"Fuck." I couldn't help but find it hot, the way his mouth curled around the dirty word. "Seriously, Yeona—fuck. This is not good."

"Really, I couldn't tell."

Dokja shot me a scathing look. "You're the Reaper, of course." I didn't deny it, nor confirm. "If I were one of the Angels, this would be easier..."

He dragged a hand up his face and through his hair, fluffing it out. His frustration is hot, I thought unabashedly. Definitely hot.

"The main issue is these new station members that have joined us. They don't fully support me, and their self-interested will to live won't support you, either," said Dokja. "I think you should keep quiet about your role."

I nodded, having arrived at the same conclusion. "I do want to tell our companions, but it'll be tricky. I don't want it to seem like we're ganging up on those other members...why don't we start using 'Midday Tryst'?"

Dokja's head cocked to the side in thought. "That could work."

"Okay. I'll find a good time. For now, at least—"

We went over my rough idea briefly, then rejoined the group. Everyone was discussing the latest development, and when we were within earshot, a timid, hook-nosed guy piped up.

"Representative-nim, what do we do about this hidden scenario?!"

"No one reveal their roles. We will take the loss of a captured station after four days," said Dokja.

Immediate protests filled the air.

One question rose above the rest. "Won't the Angels die then?"

"No Angels are dying. No Reapers either."

"So we just let the Reaper kill four of us? And get away with it?" A big, brawny man with hams for thighs and scarred cheeks pushed his way to the front. He focused on Dokja with a laser precision, before darting to each of our companions. Then his gaze settled on me. "Sounds like you're protecting them."

"You're right. I am." Dokja crossed his arms and stepped towards the man. "It's simple—the Reaper faces death if they fail. If the Angels fail, neither side has to die."

"And the rules don't dictate that the Reaper has to kill one of us."

I felt the weight of eyes turning to me as I spoke. The scarred man's jaw twitched. "We will come into contact with other stations, many of which will be hostile and probably try to wipe us out entirely. We defeat them and use their names for the Reaper."

The other members seemed thoughtful.

"What will the Angels do?" asked a shaky voice.

"The Guardian Angel can choose two people to protect each day, if they want. It doesn't really matter," said Dokja. "But the Angel of Judgement will do nothing."

Scar-face eyed us coldly. He went over to Gong Pildu, casting furtive glances around at the station group members.

I watched him. Something about his manner was shifty. Dangerous. No, perhaps I'm being unfair just because it feels like the guy doesn't like me.

Dokja took Hyunsung and Heewon with him to capture a now-empty Myeongdong station, and in the meantime, I bought Midday Tryst.

[You have activated 'Midday Tryst.']

>> You have entered the chat. >> Kim Dokja, Yoo Sangah, Jung Heewon, Lee Hyunsung, Lee Gilyoung, and Kim Namwoon have entered the chat. Choi Yeona--Hey. Don't reply to this message unless you are the Angel of Judgement. Choi Yeona--So you are all aware, I am the Reaper. Choi Yeona--Dokja and I have a plan. For now, we'll act as if that hidden scenario isn't even occurring. Only worry about the main scenario. That's all.

I purposefully left out Gong Pildu. Though I viewed him as one of my companions already, I still didn't quite trust him at this stage. It was better to err on the side of caution, for the time being, especially with my life at stake.

No one replied. It's an outsider, then, I thought with a grimace. That complicated matters.

Gilyoung came up to me soon after, eyes shaking with worry. "Noona," he whispered. "You really have a plan?"

"I do." I stroked his back. "I won't die from this."

Namwoon came over to my side, silent as he hovered nearby. Sangah cast me concerned, repeated glances, biting the inside of her cheek as if to refrain from speaking.

When Dokja and the others returned, I met with them. Heewon and Hyunsung gave me a complicated look each. "I'm okay," I said, and left it at that.

Heewon tried speaking, but I shook my head.

I addressed Dokja. "You gained the 'King Candidate' scenario, didn't you?"

"Yes."

"I should call you 'my lord' from now on," said Hyunsung seriously.

"Oh, my lord," drawled Heewon with a roll of her eyes. "Should we carry on to the next station now? If you care for the lives of your poor subjects, that is, so we don't die if you fail this task?"

Dokja's brow furrowed, and he looked at Kang Ilhun. "First, we need to find out about the ones behind the attack."

There was a problem.

Kim Dokja was supposed to take Kang Ilhun with him to Dongmyo and the other stations as he impersonated Yoo Joonghyuk. But I now needed Kang Ilhun if I were to survive.

"Dokja," I said slowly. "Can you leave Kang Ilhun here?"

He looked at me, and then his eyes unfocused. I thought maybe he was rereading the Angels vs. Reaper scenario rules.

I had tested a name earlier. One that was a beyond-unimportant background character from Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint, within the Korea Dome, one who wouldn't affect the progression of the story if they died. It was the scum, Song Minwoo. The Star Stream had sent me back an error message:

[This individual is not available to fulfill the scenario conditions.]

It had to be a name from our group. And, fuck—the only names I really knew were my companions.

Dokja nodded, understanding. "He will stay."

Then he called on a few people to go with him to pursue information about the prophets and occupy stations. Sangah wandered over to us at this time.

"...Heewon-ssi and Hyunsung-ssi will accompany me to Dongmyo and beyond—"

[You have activated 'Midday Tryst.']

>> Kim Dokja has entered the private chat. Choi Yeona--Take Namwoon, too. And leave Sangah in charge of Chungmuro as Vice Rep. Kim Dokja--I was going to leave that to you. Choi Yeona--She's more capable than I am. Choi Yeona--And I think she feels left out of our plans too often.

"—and Namwoon will also join us. Yoo Sangah-ssi," said Dokja. "I'm going to transfer some of my Representative power to you. Please watch over everyone carefully while I'm gone."

Sangah's eyes were shining with surprise...and pride. She curled her fists. "I will, Dokja-ssi! You can count on me."

I smiled at her spirit, and noticed Dokja glance at me with his own lips quirked up in amusement. Though I didn't say it, Namwoon would make Dokja's impersonation of Yoo Joonghyuk much easier, as a recognizable and strong ally of the regressor from Ways of Survival. Between him and Hyunsung, Dokja should have a smoother go.

Before they left, I reminded them of one last thing. "When you capture other stations, be sure to collect a few names of those who can be killed. We only need three more."

"Got it." Dokja's mouth was set in determination. "We'll see you when we return."

They departed.

With Dokja, Hyunsung, Heewon, and Namwoon all gone, it had become rather quiet. Gilyoung taught me a hand-slapping game (I let him win once after he started complaining). Sangah was making the rounds, introducing herself to the members of our station, learning their names, and assuring them of her reliability should they need anything.

She truly was a perfect protagonist type. I smiled, still watching her, when—slap!

"Hey!"

"Your fault for not paying attention!" crowed Gilyoung gleefully.

I sighed. "You're right."

We played a bit longer, then Gilyoung grew tired and curled up to sleep.

My eyes fell onto the persistent, glowing messages in front of me. I had less than fifteen hours to input a name for the Reaper role.

"Sangah," I murmured when she was near. "Could you please tell everyone that that man's name is Kang Ilhun, and the Reaper can use his name for today in the hidden scenario? And that they should do so in private."

She agreed, and gathered people to give her announcement.

I didn't feel bad about using him. I didn't feel hollow inside, nor eager, nor...anything. 'Kang Ilhun' was simply a body to use, an unimportant name that would fulfill a task so that I might live to keep Kim Dokja alive another day. The only thing it did was make me uncomfortable with the fact that I didn't feel affected by it.

I wasn't quite sure what that made me.

The sensation of a piercing gaze drew my attention to the crowd. It didn't take me long to find the source—the scar-faced man from before. When our eyes met, his lip curled and he looked away.

Earlier, he had stuck to Gong Pildu's side. I supposed he was part of the Landlord Alliance, but that gang was no more after the introduction of station representatives. He and Pildu had spoken, argued, and the scar-face had stormed off to stew alone.

He seemed to dislike me. And I didn't like him.

But there was nothing concrete to address, so I ignored him like before.

It wasn't night, but I had also grown tired, so I input Kang Ilhun's name before tucking Gilyoung to my side and getting some rest.

I awoke to Kang Ilhun's body still slumped against the wall.

Not many people were moving about, so I took advantage of the quiet to lug the corpse to the room where the others had gone over the past few days. It reeked of death in there.

When I returned, Dokja had sent a message through Midday Tryst with a name: Park Youngsu.

I informed Sangah to announce it later.

Dokja had also sent another message. Nine stations had been captured, including Dongmyo. We needed two more: one to complete the ten required for the 'King's Road,' and one to make up for the loss of the Angels with our ongoing hidden scenario.

Though a Vice Representative couldn't fully take a new station for our own, they could steal a station's flag for safe keeping until the main Representative could arrive to officially claim it.

"We need to occupy one more," I said to Sangah and Gong Pildu. "Hoehyeon station."

It was one over from Myeongdong, where Kang Ilhun and his men had come from. Little was mentioned about it in the original novel; but dusk was upon us, and it was now too late to use Midday Tryst to ask Dokja with his knowledge of Ways of Survival.

"I have an idea," said Sangah hesitantly.

I eagerly gestured for her to continue, and she explained her idea for capturing the unknown station. It was a good plan. A lot hinged on my sacred light and her golden threads, but between the two of us, I was sure that we could handle the bulk of resistance. Other Chungmuro people would accompany us. There was just one issue—

"Gong Pildu-ssi. I'd like to take you with us," said Sangah, brows drawn tight in frustration. "Your turrets are incredibly strong. But I don't want to leave Chungmuro vulnerable..."

"I'll join you."

The scar-faced man sidled up to us, the frail man with the hook nose in tow under his grip. Hook-nose looked at me with wide eyes, slightly unfocused. The big, scarred man kept his gaze trained on Sangah.

"Hwang Si-woo," said Sangah. "I would prefer to have someone so strong remain here to protect everyone. Will that be alright?"

I could have kissed Yoo Sangah. Though I had never outright said anything, I had the sense that she had picked up on either my discomfort around him, or his thinly-veiled hostility towards me. Sangah looked up at him imploringly now; her arresting beauty on display as she tilted her head slightly.

Scar-face seemed conflicted, then his jaw twitched. "...Yeah, whatever."

"Wonderful! I'm relieved to know that Chungmuro will be safe in Hwang Si-woo-ssi's hands," said Sangah with a thick, fondant-layer of enthusiasm.

Thank God, this woman is so charming. Even the brute seemed taken in by her loveliness.

Our group dispersed to make short preparations now that a solid plan was in place.

But as I walked away, I caught sight of Hwang Si-woo whispering fervently with the hook-nose man. The man nodded and jerked his thumb up.

At that confirmation, the scar-faced brute grinned.

Before we left Chungmuro, I typed in Park Youngsu's name into the scenario message.

[Individual is protected by the 'Guardian Angel.']

What. The. Fuck.

"—!"

I only barely managed to contain my angered shout, and my eyes searched furiously around the platform. The heat in me froze into a cold dread the instant I locked eyes with him.

Scar-face was already looking at me.

And I had just given him the exact reaction he was hoping for.

...Fuck, indeed.

I stripped my eyes away from him, hopping down to the tracks to pace while I waited. Once everyone had gathered, we set off for Hoehyeon. My mind was numb with shock.

Why did he seem to have it out for me? It was obvious he had pinned me as the Reaper, but I couldn't figure out what his end-goal was with this. Why my death might matter.

But it would be fine. If we successfully conquered this next station, then there would be a wealth of names to choose from for the last three days. I wouldn't die from this...but it was certainly becoming dicey with this unknown variable.

I didn't like "unknowns."

We reached the edge of the tunnel leading to Hoehyeon and I crouched in front of Gilyoung. "You can do it, Gilyoung-ah."

He hummed as his eyes closed, fingers splayed into the dirt.

A few minutes went by, and he began to shake. I wiped a trail of blood from below his nostrils, and said, a bit alarmed, "Gilyoung?"

Words of an unknown language fell in mutterings from his lips. Then he gasped.

I caught him as he pitched forwards. "Are you okay?!"

"Mhm." He wiped his dirt-caked hands on his shorts. "Yeah, I'm okay! And I found him."

His cockroaches had given us a rough estimate of their numbers and the spread of their men. Better yet—they had identified their leader. It seemed that Hoehyeon wasn't very vigilant with their safety.

Perhaps they're so careless because they don't matter to begin with in either of the original novels, I thought as I wiped again at the fresh blood on Gilyoung's upper lip.

I sent Gilyoung back to Gong Pildu's side for safe-keeping during the upcoming battle.

Then we split into our groups. And attacked.

It didn't take us long to capture Hoehyeon station. In fact, they gave it up rather quickly once their leader was impaled on a spike of light, and the remaining members became disjointed and docile under the wave of Chungmuro assailants.

Through it all, however, the chilling grin of the scar-face, Hwang Si-woo, was stuck in my mind.

I had taken the turmoil of my thoughts out on the members of Hoeheyon station...perhaps I had gone a bit overboard in my aggression. Well, anyhow, we had succeeded in capturing a station's flag.

Sangah now gripped their flag, as if unsure what to do with it.

I nudged her. "Hey, Vice-Rep, you won that for us. We're one step closer to the goal thanks to your plan."

Sangah pressed her lips together, but I could tell she was happy. Then she nodded. "I'll put this by our flag post for when Dokja-ssi returns."

"Yes!" I cheered loudly, clapping her on the back. It must have inspired the other Chungmuro people, because they rallied around us and congratulated Sangah, expressing their praise and excitement over the win. A few encouraged me for using my skill in taking down the Hoehyeon leader, as well.

Then Sangah began instructing our people to properly disarm and tie up the Hoehyeon members. To the defeated, she explained, "We don't plan to hold you forever. This is only a precaution until we can fully integrate you into our station group. Please be try to be comfortable until then."

Most of them seemed to accept her words with weary nods, grateful to have a stronger presence to make the decisions for them; some sneered or remained unyielding in their expression. I made note of the latter.

I stopped in front of one particular woman, already tied up, with a small, pinched face. "What is your name?"

She spit a gob out on the floor next to my feet. Perhaps she had bad aim, or perhaps she wasn't trying very hard. I leaned in close. 'Sacred Light' curled around my forearms like a snake.

"You tried to murder a child, and here I am trying to give you a second chance. What is your name?" I said, then scoffed. "Or are you too embarrassed? Prideful?"

She huffed. "...Shin Bo-ram."

"Shin Bo-ram. Welcome to Chungmuro!" I smiled, my cheeks stretched wide and my eyes crinkling far too much.

I turned away, the smile instantly giving way to disgust. When we had attacked, this woman had immediately gone for what she viewed as the weakest link in our ranks—Lee Gilyoung.

The only reason she wasn't already dead was so she could replace the name "Park Youngsu."

We rounded up the Hoehyeon people and marched them back to Chungmuro. They were taken to an upper floor and several of our station members were dispatched to keep watch over them. Once things were settled, I found a place to sit with Gilyoung. Sangah was chatting with others in the group.

It was time to input a name.

There were under ten hours left, a fair amount of time, but the failed attempt had me antsy. I could use that woman's name now.

I could. But my mind had narrowed its focus onto the individual that I was certain was hellbent on antagonizing me. My fingers typed in the name without much consideration.

[Input name here: Hwang Si-woo]

[The individual 'Hwang Si-woo' is rejected for reaping.]

[Individual is protected by the 'Guardian Angel.']

[Input new name here: __________]

"Shit," I muttered with a scowl.

It wasn't too surprising. I suspected him of being the Guardian Angel, after all. But the timing was suspicious...

"The Reaper tried to kill me!"

My head shot up. How in the hell—they received a notification—?!

A loose crowd had already gathered around Hwang Si-woo.

His harsh, assessing demeanor had devolved into a high-pitched terror. It looked ridiculous on a man of his size and muscle, but he was really selling it as he rocked back and forth, clutching his hair.

I might have believed it if his cold eyes weren't carefully watching me.

"One of our own?"

"But Representative-nim said they wouldn't kill us!"

"Who is doing it??"

The increased rumblings of people only egged on Hwang Si-woo. He flew up to grasp the shirt of the hook-nosed man. "The Reaper is out to get us; to kill us all! And I know who it is, Kang-ssi here used his skill to read the Reaper's scenario message—it's her!"

And then he pointed directly at me.

"She tried to kill me after I confronted her about it," he rushed out. "I was just trying to talk, but she got angry...and now look...you're all next!"

Everyone whipped their heads to where I stood in the back, arms crossed. Then the panicked shouts began.

"She's dangerous!"

"I don't want to die!"

"She did slaughter a ton of people in Hoehyeon..."

"So cold-blooded—!"

God, these people were so easily swayed. Hardly an hour ago they were singing my praises over a job well done. What brain-dead morons.

I didn't dare speak, for fear of making the situation worse.

Except...I really was the Reaper. And I had tried to kill Hwang Si-woo. As kind as it was of Uriel to side with me, it wasn't quite an injustice.

Sangah stepped in between us. She glanced at me with a wide, stricken expression before turning her back. "We don't know if it's true. If Yeona-ssi really is the Reaper."

The brutish scar-face took a threatening step towards her. "Kang-ssi saw it."

"Perhaps Kang-ssi can see it. But, the fact remains that we cannot. So," she said firmly. "We will have Yeona-ssi go into a solitary space for the night. And—and if she really is the Reaper, then her timer should expire."

Ah, she was banking on the fact that I had a name up my sleeve already. Or that my time wouldn't run out before morning arrived, and could contact Dokja, maybe. Both of those were in line to be true. Either way, I should be cleared by morning.

I tried to keep my expression neutral as relief bloomed in my chest at her quick thinking. Yeah, I'm going to have to kiss you hard when this is all over, Sangah.

Her sway over the group was undeniable, as they seemed to somewhat calm at her reasonable words. After all, it's not like we had made personal introductions, so of course I wouldn't know their full names. A few still cast me suspicious glances, but the majority dispersed, gossiping amongst themselves.

Hwang Si-woo gave me one long, complicated look, and then he spun around and stalked off.

Sangah called over Gong Pildu. She asked him to take me to a separate room, one with only one entrance. He hesitated, his face tensing as he looked at me, but I remained solemn.

Gong Pildu, of all people, was very familiar with the power of herd mentality, and the risk of inciting a mob.

He started to lead me away, when someone ran in front of us.

"Noona," Gilyoung gasped. "You can't! You can't go!"

"I'll be fine, Gilyoung," I said quickly, trying to shush him. "Don't worry about me. I'll see you in the morning, okay?"

His jittery movements didn't cease, but at Sangah's gentle prodding he stepped back to let us pass. I felt bad at having distressed him so, but I couldn't afford to linger any more around the Chungmuro group. Not when things were so tentative already.

"Yeona-girl."

Gong Pildu spoke in a low, cautious voice. "Watch yourself, now."

He gave me a meaningful glance, then shut the door. I was alone.

It was a good thing, to have someone like Gong Pildu on my side; I would hate to make an enemy of him.

I lounged around for a while. It was boring with no one to talk to, so I waited for the night drowsiness to come so I could sleep. When I felt myself begin to drift, I punched in the name, "Shin Bo-ram," into the Star Stream box for the second day.

The door gave a slight creak. In my sleep-addled state, I perked my head up. "Gilyoung-ah?"

Only for it to slam back down, cracking hard on the tile. I cried out, instantly seeing stars, and a hand clapped down over my mouth.

"I knew it was you, conniving bitch."

Another large hand wrapped around my throat to crush my windpipe. My eyes bugged, staring into the infuriated glare of the scar-faced brute that had been after me since the start.

[The constellations of revenge are pleased by this turn of events.]

Bastards. But not as big a bastard as the one currently choking the life out of me.

"You fucking piss me off," he snarled. "You and that sneaky, rat-bastard representative. I hate people that think they're better than everyone else. Laughing at us. Like we're nothing."

I wrung my fingers around his wrists, but it only prompted him to grip harder. A strangled choke left my throat. His other hand joined the first now that I obviously couldn't speak.

Hwang Si-woo's eyes glittered with a sick delight. "While your boyfriend is crying over your dead body, I'll kill him, too."

The brute must have invested every last coin into his strength stat, because even I couldn't pry the fingers off of my neck. He squeezed so tight, so wickedly fast, that already my vision was beginning to blacken. I scrabbled at his chest.

"Maybe take out that pretty leader of ours next."

My knee connected with his crotch and he howled, his weight crashing down on top of me and knocking the remaining wind from my lungs. My mind was slipping.

[The exclusive skill 'Sacred Light' is activated.]

Weapon…I need to form…light…

[The constellation 'Mother of Divine Desire' looks at you.]

Oh. This must truly be bad, then.

He pressed tighter, and tighter, and tighter, and some still-functioning part of my brain sent a message that I was one hard snap away from death. It was more of a feeling, than a message.

Before any other Star Stream notices could be sent, a golden thread snagged around the man's throat and yanked him off of me. Air flooded back into my lungs as I took in greedy breaths.

Move. I need to move.

I used that whisper of returned strength to form a dagger of light and plunge it into his gut. I used more sacred light to shove him on his back, and I crawled forwards, gravity helping my arm to stab down over and over. The man was motionless.

My eyes stung. More...I have to be sure. I formed a guillotine-like blade to push down on his own neck and cleave it in half.

'Sacred Light' released, and my body crumpled in the pool of blood beside him, violently shaking.

In my fear, I cried.

"Yeona! Oh my God, oh my God." It was Sangah, sweet Sangah. My eyes dimly made out her frantic movements as she rolled me over, her hair in disarray as she shouted hysterically. "DOKJA-SSI! Oh God, Pildu-ssi! Someone go to Dokja-ssi now!"

Yes, I wanted Dokja. This world was cruel, and I wanted my greatest source of comfort.

Tears mixed with sweat and blood on my face; I cried from nearly dying, I cried because I was scared, and I cried most of all at being an outsider in this world without a pre-written destiny—never truly a part of this story, even as I fought to make it my own. If I died, here and now, the story I was working so hard to create would never matter. And neither would I.

Every breath came out in a wet wheeze, as if there were a hole in my throat.

Footsteps pounded towards us. "Yoo Sangah, what—Yeona!"

Kim Dokja was far, far away. I knew this, but was still upset when the male's voice was revealed to be Gong Pildu.

I felt so, very alone.

"…her blood?!"

"No…stabbed him…strangling…"

I couldn't make out much more beyond the feeling of hands brushing the hair from my damp face. A series of Star Stream messages scrolled rapidly in front of me. My eyes fluttered shut. "Dok…ja."

It was the last sound I could breathe out before darkness claimed my mind.
