#in anticipation of the incoming remake #i tried my best to imitate the SH font but #silent hill #silent hill 2 #angela #angela orosco #theme of laura (reprise)#i've said it before but in spite of its occasionally clunky diction i think silent hill 2 is an unusually emotionally intelligent game #for any year and still today but especially so for where gaming storytelling was in 2001 #and for as many pitfalls a story like hers could've dipped into i think it particularly shines through with how they treated angela #not just choosing to depict victimhood as something that can be ugly and fractious and open quote “difficult” but then this #actively rebuffing james for trying to be a white knight and dressing him down for it too #“i know you mean well and want to help but this isn't a simple problem"#“and it's really hurtful and a bit insulting that you act like you can”#the switching to a first person view turning it into an address to the player as well #maybe even old videogame tropes too #“this isn't some princess in a castle kind of situation dude this is more serious than that”#it felt like a very deliberate statement about the depth and severity of a trauma like this #and in doing so showing it so much respect #then angela just leaves #and you never see her again #i really don't think it was to imply that it consumed her i think it was to underline what was just said #this isn't your problem to fix #this is where your part in this story ends #there is no quick easy solution to this and you won't get one #there's some strength in that

We have (with little to no comedic exaggeration):#1) WWX whistling and somehow summoning not one but several horses to his side.#2) meeting the surviving Wen sect members who insist on not leaving Wen Ning behind.#Only for it to cut back to Wen Ning ripping a guy in half. (Not pictured here. I tried so hard but I could not make it look good).#Personally I feel like we moved on way too fast from the horse thing. Where did they come from? WWX couldn't have brought them.#He *just* found out there were more people left behind.#So...are the from the Jing sect? Are these disloyal horses? Or does WWX have incredible animal charisma skills?#It feels a bit like a DND player asked to call in some horses and the DM said 'Sure if you roll well enough' and it was a natural 20.#Maybe this is just my own envy cutting through. God damn I wish I could whistle and summon a horse to my side whenever I needed to.#I know I should not be so hung up on the horses. But my brain is cooked. I have been so sick.#The kind of sickness that makes it hard to breathe. Or think. Or have any energy at all.#I wish I had good commentary to write here. I just...really want a nap. I had a two week holiday this year and they were instantly slurped up. it went so fast!#there was this big football thing the week before my holiday - basically teams of teens come from all around the world to play etc.#I heard a girl tell her teammates that 'I'd love to travel on this bus every morning; happy people all around you; just add some music...'#she was also very excited when the bridge opened. the 'happy people' around her sighed bitterly and leaned back for a ten minute wait.#it is thankfully over now. the bus home is no longer stuffed full of football teams. but it's a fun experience for the players etc etc etc #well. in other thrilling news I went to spy on our sister shops during my time off. to see what they do differently. maybe steal some ideas #one store was like an instagram post with fancy teacups and stylish outfits. who knew a second-hand store could be so boring.#the other was like a man-cave with furniture and a passively-aggressive note by the toys stating that 'if u break it u pay. idiot. tnx<3'.#the man-cave was my favourite :)#rant over now! take care and bye etc!

i wonder how many more people would've vehemently hated gale right off the bat on full release if his introduction conversation had stayed like this or something similar

#i wasn't realy involved in any discussions during ea but i do know a lot of people didn't trust or like gale then #but i always really loved the wind imagery he uses with his phrasing here #and the way he casually walks out of the portal like it's effortless and then stands over you literally talking down to you #in the full release your first impression of him is a guy stuck with no way to free himself without your help #then when you do help him he's very friendly and kind and doesnt come across as threatening at all. and you talk to him on level ground #even his most dismissive remark about the player's magic or lack of it just after meeting him doesn't come across as strong as this one imo #also. i have like no other clips from ea saved other than this one lol #baldur's gate #gale dekarios #gale of waterdeep #★

has anyone gotten the idea that odysseus' storyline in hades 2 is a depiction/exploration of trauma over his SA and how he's blaming himself for things that were out of his control? because that's the impression i'm getting from what i've seen. he talks about "goddesses" as his "greatest weakness" and that "he's not one to say no to them"...

when mel invites him to the bath, he brings up mortals having different standards for intimacy than gods and how it usually has a more romantic/sexual connotation. she then asks if he's uncomfortable and he has a startled reaction and brings up circe and calypso again (but never actually by name)

(this isn't ship/romance bait btw. odysseus knew mel as a kid and they're stated in-game to have a sibling/uncle-niece relationship)

also he grew apart from penelope after his return, but the game makes a point of showing that his love for penelope and telemachus is what drove him on at all so that element of his character isn't brought into question

#i made a post abt it but deleted it bc it was speculating and i don't have the game bc i don't have a pc #but i found more screenshots and now.. i think it's a VERY real possibility they're going in this direction.#circe is in this game also. so i really need to see whether odysseus has any character specific dialogue about her #hard life when you can't even play the game and are hunting down bits of story from other people #hades game tag #hades 2 spoilers #sa mention #hades 2 #hades game #odysseus #penelope #i don't have any hard coping shipper brain on or anything but like. just. thinking about where his character can go given what we know #guaranteed penelope will be in this game too from how much she's brought up. we'll probably meet her on the surface #SO ITS LIKE. story wise. are we going to make a wife forgive her husband for cheating on her #or are we going to make a guy realize him being assaulted wasn't the same thing as him cheating on the love of his life #and i am heavily leaning towards the latter.#it's like if he genuinely did cheat on her and they grew apart what direction would his story go in.#how will us as the player help him in the same way we helped achilles/patroclus or orpheus/eurydice
