In Lance we trust. One Lance Headcannon ramble COMING UP! Lance is surprisingly hard to write for but i think i got something plausible.

No warnings unless mentioning a punch is one?

Lance | General Headcannons

Lance will be straightforward and honest with everyone. You want the truth, ask Lance and he will spell it out to you in the most brutally honest way. 

He is sharp minded and incredibly strong-willed. This man can bounce back from anything thrown at him, and can silence anyone with a single comment if he wants. He has made challengers feel as if they are an ant compared to him, if they’re getting too cocky with him that is.

If he finds someone mistreating their Pokemon, he reacts in one of two ways. Depending on what's happening. If the trainer is new and is simply overworking their Pokemon without actually realising: Lance will berate them for this and then teach them carefully on how to actually care for they’re Pokemon.

Lance is a surprisingly good teacher.

However, if what they're doing is physical and genuinely meaningful in how they are hammering their pokemon, he will not back away from using violence. He Hyper beamed a petty thief! Lance will throw a punch in himself if need be.

A LOG when sleeping. And I don't mean he's a sound sleeper, a lot can wake him up. I mean literally a log, stiff as a board. A statue if you will. 

Clair once thought he was unconscious, he was so still, resulting in her pouring ice cold water on him, followed by Lance jumping up so far you honestly thought he could cling to the ceiling. One of the few times he let his guard down and now he's cold and needs new clothes.

Yes, Clair got it all on camera. And yes all of the Elite and gym leaders have the video saved.

Lance is an incredibly serious person, and will not tolerate any form of disrespect from anyone. Although sometimes he can be a bit too serious. Laughter is so rare from this guy that even a simple chuckle gets people staring at him.

It takes him an hour to get his hair like that. Lance’s naturally hair is spiky don’t get me wrong but to get those perfect spikes takes time darlings.

Private person. Period

Lance cares way too much about other people and they’re pokemon than he reasonably should. I repeat he has Hyper beamed a thief for stealing a random woman's pokeball.  This tends to get him in situations he can’t get himself out of. Whilst he doesn’t like asking for help, he will if he knows it's the only option left.

Before he became champion, he would constantly be going around the other Elite members and testing they’re strength making sure they are alway at their best. When he became champion he did this a lot less, instead focusing on his own pokemon and the might of the gym leaders. 

He can’t swim all that well. Lance spends so much time in the air that swimming is almost foreign to him. Although he can swim, it's not too graceful and you would mistake his wild flailing for drowning.

For this reason, he definitely has a Pokemon that knows Surf he doesn’t use on his main team. 

Man has a soft spot for food. Wanna get on his good side? Give him anything to do with Spicy food and he is all ears. The other elite members used to carry Spicy curry pots on them whenever they needed Lance to do something he would normally say no to.

Quite the artist and also has decent music talent. He once tried Pottery, he made a somewhat functional bowl on his first attempt. Charcoal is his specialty, he has a hidden sketchbook full of pokemon he has seen over his travels.

Hates travelling overseas for tournaments and HAS turned them down before. It has to be a massive oversea event for him to willingly go instead of Red or Falkner dragging him there.

Lance has a soft spot for kids. He is much more protective over them than the adults watching them. Always helping any kid without a second thought, the adult in his mind comes second. 

He throws a vicious right hook. Lance has knocked a team rocket grunt out and once put a hole in a wall. It’s no Raihan punch, that man bent a Cement wall. But he will put you on your ass. 

This man has a secret stash of hair dye in his house. If his hair starts greying he will be READY! And yes that is not his natural hair colour.

Does NOT like his shoulders touched. I think it's the cloak, but if someone touches him on the shoulder, he will death glare at them. Hands, arms, back all fine. Shoulders, no. Same thing with his legs. Falkner once tapped him on the leg when he was napping and it resulted in Falkner getting a kick to the face. He was fine but now he warns people not to touch Lance when he sleeps.

Speaking of Falkner, these two definitely roomed together for a while. Falkner is the only person Lance trusts enough to handle his pokemon. If for Any reason Lance has to part with Dragonite, Falkner is who he turns to. Even the pokemon centre can’t handle his precious pokemon. Arceus forbade him to let Clair handle them.

He loves and respects Clair so much don’t get him wrong. But when they were younger, Clair was quite the trouble maker and accidentally hurt Lance’s Dratini. He never fully trusted her again with his pokemon. No ill will between them though, They have dinner together at least once a week. 

Though in Clair's defence, Lance did provoke her first. He got that spit fire personality somewhere.

Won’t eat any kind of fish or Tail food. Sushi is his enemy. Not team rocket, not Team Galactic, not even team Magma. Nope. Sushi. 

Remember the curry thing from earlier? If that doesn’t work to persuade him somehow, just tie some sushi to a stick and follow him around, he’ll give in eventually. Don’t let his Dragonite eat it though because it will try and it is funny to watch.

Rambling about Tavvy Blackthorn again bc sobh and my boy loves pokemon 🥹🥹

Anyways I had thought that Dru was around in LA for a bit with Tavvy after qoaad but according to sobh and tlkof she goes to the academy very soon after…

So I realized that Tavvy went from being around his four siblings and Emma everyday (+ Cristina and Mark for a bit) to being an only child of two moms 😭

I totally understand Jules&Emma, Ty, + Dru for not wanting to stick around and I don’t blame them at all but as a youngest sib I gotta feel Tavs a bit

At least Dru was old enough to remember Helen while Tavvy was only 2 and wouldn’t have memories from then

Like of course Tavvy knows that Helen is his sister since Jules talks about her a lot and they skyped once a year but she’s still mostly a stranger

And suddenly Tavvy is 8 and he’s back home except is it the same home without his siblings with only a sister he doesn’t rly know and her wife 😭

I trust he facetimes with his siblings some but it’s not the same

Thus he becomes a semi spoiled only child bc Helen and Aline want him to feel settled in and at home with him

Aline may show a little more tough love than Helen, but I think she still really wants Tavvy to feel comfortable with her

So she plans bonding activities for them like surf lessons together and actually knowing the pokemon by name when Tavvy gets into them

But things like if Tavvy wants to learn drums than the institute gets a drumset

And I so see Aline entering their soccer mom era when they put Tavvy in soccer

(buddy has no siblings to hang around anymore or shadowhunter his age in LA and he needs besties his age 🥹 also he can’t even get his first rune and start seriously training for a few more years so why not get into some mundane things and have some mundie besties)

Like I’m so glad we’re getting and going to get all the Herongraystairs family content that me deserve!!

Not Yet! We can fight on! An Iris Analysis

Ah Iris…I remember when we first got information about her through anime leaks how Serebii.net forums were going wild. A dark-skinned female as Ash’s companion? I was fighting for my life trying to defend her because people were…not that accepting of her to say the least.

I like Iris, both her anime and game counterparts. But this analysis is going to be centered on her game counterpart (since this blog is mostly gameverse centered). While our time with her in both Black/White and Black 2/White 2 is overall pretty limited we can still gain a lot of information about who she is in the game’s world

Let’s start with her name. Fun fact! Iris is the only champion (bar Red) whose name is the same in both English and Japanese. The name Iris comes from the plant genus named Iris which actually comes from the Greek Goddess of Rainbows, Iris. Now this Greek Goddess doesn’t have a whole lot of mythology around her, but her key role was to be the connection between humans and gods. A divine messenger of sorts. Given Iris’ ability to understand the hearts of dragons, the Tao Trio being revered in Unova, and her being from a Village that lives as one with dragon types it makes sense why this is her name. She’s a bridge between humans and dragon types which I think is really sweet.

Now back to the Iris flowers, we know Pokemon loves floral and plant symbolism. And the Iris flower has no shortage of symbolism with it meaning faith, courage, valor, hope and wisdom. Iris as a character certainly has a lot of courage being a dragon tamer of some pretty fierce dragon types at such a young age. She has a lot of faith and hope in her and her team’s power. She shows plenty of valor by offering to be Bianca’s bodyguard in Castelia city and stepping up against Team Plasma in the Plasma Castle. And as we see in Pokemas, she is growing in her wisdom.

But wait there’s more! Even the individual colors of the Iris flower (of which there are many) also have their own unique meanings. Since Iris is very much related to the color purple, let’s use that one for more analysis. The purple iris symbolizes royalty, wisdom, strength and courage. Wisdom and Courage are repeated themes for Iris as we see. Strength and Royalty can be tied to her status as champion as they’re the strongest trainers of the regions and (especially in places like Galar) can be seen as royalty among the league.

Now let’s take a look at her team. For this I’m going to be only using her normal mode team

We see here that she uses a mix of Dragon-Type Pokemon and Pokemon that are dragon-adjacent much like Lance. However unlike Lance, she doesn’t repeat any species (which is mainly due to Unova having more variety in Dragon Types). She uses 12 of then (at the time) 17 types with a fair spread of both physical and special damaging moves showing that she does value coverage a lot. She has a lot of coverage for ice types with fire and fighting to combat ice, and fire, fighting and ground to combat steel which resists dragon moves. Even though the fairy type had not yet debuted, it seems like Iris was already future-proofing her team with the addition of Aggron. She also tends to favorite spread moves (Surf, Earthquake, Rock Slide) and some high-risk/high-reward moves (Double Edge, Focus Blast, Endeavor, etc) which gives the impression her style of battling is very high-powered and likely means her champion room needs to be pretty sturdy to withstand the level of her attacks.

"I heard this lady's scream and ran after the thief as fast as I could. But this city is so big and so crowded… I'm afraid I lost them. […] But that's so bad! Taking people's Pokémon is really bad! 'Cause it's really nice when people and Pokémon are together! They each have something the other doesn't, and they help each other!"

This is our first introduction to Iris after she helps out Bianca after she gets her Pokemon stolen from her. We can see right off the bat that despite being young she’s very eager to help others, which gives me the vibes that in another universe she’d be a perfect Pokemon Protagonist. Also we see that she truly values the relationship between people and Pokemon which again tracks since she not only grew up in the Village of Dragons, her empathic abilities that allow her to connect with Dragon types at a deeper level would increase her love on the bond people and Pokemon typically share.

We also see in the Castelia City events that she does struggle bit with getting around the city, but that seems to be more of a result of Castelia being so unfamiliar to her versus her being like Lillie or Leon who have more overall struggles with with direction, since she can navigate Opelucid City just fine.

"That single Dragon Pokémon, along with twin heroes, brought a new region into being. And people and Pokémon had happy lives!! In its pursuit of truth, the white Dragon-type Pokémon sought to usher in a new and better world… Its name was Reshiram. And the other, the black Dragon-type Pokémon, sought ideals and to usher in a new world--a world of hope. Its name was Zekrom. But, but… The two heroes' sons started the battle again! And an instant later, Reshiram and Zekrom destroyed Unova with fire and lightning! Then, they disappeared! But, but… If people work with Pokémon in the right way, we don't have to worry anymore about the world being destroyed. I mean, Reshiram and Zekrom worked hard for everyone and made a new region! So, it should be all right, I think."

Iris is also the one in both versions to tell us the origin story of Reshiram and Zekrom showing her deep knowledge of Unova cultural history. Now here we get a bit of a divide where in Black she is Drayden’s apprentice and will teach the move Draco Meteor to your Pokemon, but in White we actually face her as the gym leader.

"The pain of my Pokémon… I feel it, too!"

Here we get a glimpse of her powers in action, albeit subtly. It’s very clear she’s an empath and that the bond between her and her Pokemon is so strong that she can feel when they take hits. Which when you think of the attacks she puts on her teams, shows that she tries to finish battles quickly to minimize the shared pain.

We see her again at N’s castle bravely fighting against the seven sages so Hilda/Hilbert can face N, once again showing her courage and I swear in another universe she was the BW protagonist. She fits the bill so well

"Sometimes I think about the village where I was born, but I'm totally OK! Because I met lots of Pokémon--and all of you!"

This quote comes from Caitlin’s Villa where she remarks about her time in the Village of Dragons, showing that she doesn’t mind being away from it because she’s made so many new friends!

"… Looking for Team Plasma? But Team Plasma disbanded two years ago!"

Fast forward two years in-universe and meet her once again in Castelia City as Hugh and Nate/Rosa are giving chase to Neo Team Plasma. As she helps them to the sewers we can see she’s gotten a better grasp on navigating the big city as she no longer complains of getting lost. We can see though, she is taken aback a bit by the claims that Team Plasma is still around, but nevertheless she still helps out.

"Yahoo! I haven't seen you since I ran into you in Castelia City! Are you here to battle Grandpa? Yep! Opelucid City's Gym Leader, Drayden, is my grandpa. We're not really related, though! Oh! The Gym is that way! Before challenging it, you might want to go to Route 9! Still, your Pokémon really respect you! I feel how much fun your Pokémon are having, even from inside their Poké Balls! Good luck!"

We meet up with her again in Opelucid City where we see in both versions that Drayden is now the one gym leader for the city which is foreshadowing that Iris has ascended to a higher position. But also we get a confirmation that Drayden and Iris have a grandparent-grandchild relationship even if they aren’t blood related. And once again we get a bit of hint of her powers as she can sense the fun the player’s Pokemon are having, showing that although her powers seem most related to draconic , she can still sense the feelings of other Pokemon too.

"Know what? I really look forward to having serious battles with strong Trainers! I mean, come on! The Trainers who make it here are Trainers who desire victory with every fiber of their being! And they are battling alongside Pokémon that have been through countless difficult battles! If I battle with people like that, not only will I get stronger, my Pokémon will, too! And we'll get to know each other even better! OK! Brace yourself! I'm Iris, the Pokémon League Champion, and I'm going to defeat you!"

I really love this quote in particular because it shows how much she looks forward to tough fights as it helps her deepen the bonds between her and her Pokemon. This is in contrast to at the time, the only other kid champion of the series, Blue, who was more concerned about gloating about his tactical mindset in assembling a powerful and versatile team. It shows the different mindsets we see between the two child-prodigies (thankfully though, Blue does change his mindset). The fact that we both began and end the 2D era of the franchise (Gen 1 to Gen 5) with the champion being a child is a nice way to bring it all together for that time of Pokemon.

Iris’ pre-champion fight quote also ties into a quote you can only access in the memory link cutscenes

"I've already decided! I know what kind of Champion I will be! There's a myth in Sinnoh that says that the reason why Pokémon jump out is because they want to thank people. I'm sure that we and Pokémon have helped each other and enriched the world since ancient times. These memories have been engraved in each Pokémon's heart! So, I want Pokémon and people to get closer and closer! As the Champion, I want to tell that to everybody!"

Here we can see once again how knowledgeable she is about myths, not just in Unova but Sinnoh as well. But also we can see how this helps inform how she wants to be a champion. That she wants to help facilitate the bonds between Pokemon and People. This really shows her mindset as being quite mature for her age as she’s not focused on showing off her strength as much, even though yes she still doesn’t like to lose.

"So, this room is the Hall of Fame! Your name and your Pokémon's names will be recorded here so these important things will never be forgotten: That you are an excellent and kind Trainer! That you are considerate toward your Pokémon, and you give them your whole heart! And that your wonderful Pokémon believe in their Trainer with all their hearts, and together you have a strength that knows no bounds! Hey, c'mon! Oh, excuse me… ! To the Trainer standing before me! And to the Pokémon at your side! Your beautiful bond has grown strong through battle! In order to make this bond an eternal treasure, your names shall be recorded here!"

I also find this quote really endearing as you can see that even though she’s giving a serious impactful speech, she’s still just a kid and sometimes slips up a bit. She is really trying to live up to the role of being champion which we see impacts her a lot in one of the Pokemon Masters EX events- The Shining Hearts of Dragons

Is he saying…I'd be an embarrassment to Unova?"

Oof…if ever I wanted to jump through my screen and throw hands with NPCs, it was those jerk adults who were calling Iris an embarrassment. It seems being a kid does not protect you from the harsh criticism of people who keep an eye on the league. We see Iris definitely feels pressure as being the youngest champion at the event. All of the other champions are adults (or in Blue’s case an older teen) and she’s coming off the heels of Alder who is a wise veteran champion.

"It's just…Diantha is so pretty, calm, and mature… […] Diantha is amazing…I wanna be that elegant and cool when I grow up, too."

You can see of all the older champions she definitely looks up to Diantha the most. Which is very fitting considering it’s Diantha who ultimately mentors her to help her get out of the funk once her Hydreigon goes berserk thanks to the actions of Team Break

"I wanted to make sure people knew me…and accepted me…I just wanted to make everyone happy. I wanted them to know that I'm the proud Champion of Unova… […]"I remember thinking I'd become a great Champion, just like Alder was! But I don't think I can do it anymore…I don't have the experience…and I'm just a kid…"

We can see how much the incident (and Lance’s stern warning) affected her. Hydreigon going out of control was also a hard blow because we learn in her “Day with Iris (Champion Alt)” story that she struggled to control it initially (again drawing more parallels to Blue as he also couldn’t handle his Aerodactyl at the start of his journey). So having Hydreigon act up again right when she was trying to show how capable she is as champion was a huge blow. She wants to be seen as mature and to be accepted. The acceptance part likely stems from her being from the Village of Dragons which has a vastly different culture than Unova and how she likely feels like an outsider at times. Poor Iris, she needs a hug.

Thankfully though she manages to find her way and get back to her peppy self by the end of the event. Feeling more confident in her abilities as champion. Which is important once we see her in the multiple Unova Neo Champion events where she presides as the main judge. In all the events she definitely seems to prioritize how people and Pokemon connect via their hearts and their ideas of strength

While Iris has certainly stepped up to the plate in showing her ability to be a mature, albeit young, champion. She thankfully still has time to still be a kid. A lot of her dialogue in the Pokemon Center talks about playing and having fun. But more importantly she got to get a whole bunch of candy, and new friends in Allister and Naganadel in the “Otherworldly Encounter” Halloween event. It was really adorable to see her team up with a ghost type expert like Allister who also happens to have supernatural powers much like her and just be able to hang out and enjoy getting a bunch of candy.

“But I can tell how it's feeling! I bet it was just afraid because it came to a place it doesn't know well!  was the same when I moved to the large cities of Unova from the Village of the Dragons! I was really nervous since there were so many tall buildings–and a lot of people."

I really liked this moment where she stands up to someone as domineering as Lusamine in defense of Poipole as she could relate to how the ultra beast felt being in an unfamiliar place.

“Yeah! I bet a concert with Roxie is gonna be so much fun! I understand how you feel, Roxie! I have an important dream as a Champion too...So I think I can sing with the same feelings as you!"

Lastly, I wanted to point out this small bit of dialogue from “Who’s the best singer” Where we see that Iris not only enjoys Roxie’s music but that she has a bit of musical talent as well. I really love instances like this in Pokemon Master’s where we can see characters step beyond just their defined role in-game. So not only have we gotten a chance to see her play with kids around her age and get candy, but we also get to see her sing with a rockstar! All in all, Game!Iris is a really incredible character who I’ve enjoyed since I first played White all those years ago. She’s certainly gone through a lot in her young life and I’d honestly love to see how she’s grown up since the events of BW2.

So today I learned that apparently in Pokemon Diamond and Pearl they decided to free the HM slaves by no longer making you need to teach pokemon all those important location moves

And the explanation for this is that your watch knows how to do it now

So when you need to use Rock Smash or Surf, instead of using your own pokemon you train

A random wild pokemon will show up and smash it for you

I don’t even think you can have your own pokemon do it anymore

But that’s the official explanation

It does not hold water for about a zillion reasons, probably because it’s a wadded up coffee filter of an explanation

And listen. Listen. In the Rotom era it would work

Because your device is a pokemon that can use pokemon moves

But until someone came up with the idea for Rotom to exist… what? Children are learning Rock Smash themselves to go on adventures?

It would genuinely make more sense for your lil guy to do it than casually mind control a random nearby pokemon that just happens to know Rock Smash

(But you will never ever ever catch a wild pokemon that knows Rock Smash in most of these areas)

trixie tang would only ever show her ninetales at school to appease her "feminine and elegant" persona people see her as, she sides all her "badass" mon's but cares for them deeply inspite of it all, also with the added bonus of ninetales cursing you if you get too close or smth along the lines

tootie would only own these two, no one knows how she got them

winn harper's ace would be alolan raichu! surfing is just water skateboarding, so raichu helps with some cool tricks on the playground, theyre also rlly close with their furfrou, who they constantly also dye their fur to match their hair, and also cuz i think theyre a dog person in general, one of the few kids in their school to have fully evolved pokemon since their parents are gym leaders, loves competitive battling!

jenkins' ace would be his deerling, autumn form specifically, he also owns a douduo! from his home region of ye olden kanto, just a normal type specialist, no big deal

the doe twins would own two umbreons, ones regular the other ones shiny, theyve also been gifted tatsugiri and dondozo from their father from his fisherman days back in paldea, though they never use those two outside of battles, double battlers and weridos

whispers fred's main would be an absol! quiet but gets the job done, he also probably thinks that in addition to predicting natural disasters that his absol can sense mythical mons (which doesnt work that way, dont tell him), whismur helps him on the job, along with being a shiny he came across one day!, his slowpoke, ralts and eevee are there for emotional support, doesnt like to battle, probably thinks shiny pokemon are supernatural and brags about his whismur

dev dimmadome i like to imagine doesnt really own a pokemon of his own, they usually just breed and sell them off so he doesnt get to bond with them enough nor has he though about it, but during the battle of the big wand he gets them from foop, he and hazel have this grand battle (emolga probably does some thunder armor bullshit), the buneary refuses to evolve and admitibly doesnt like him, may or may not join hazels team instead and may or may not symbolise their relationship idk idk

This was super-fun to do! I got “Water” from my quiz and while I don’t have terribly strong feelings about the water-type, I had fun designing my Gen 6 team and myself as a (classy?) gym trainer, whose aesthetic is loosely inspired by Gene Kelly in Singin’ In The Rain, and is definitely more of a costume than anything else (and yes, I did have to include my three favorite things: hats, pinstripes, and PROPS!!)

Rationale for Pokemon (besides that they’re available in Gen 6):

Relicanth is, no joke, my favorite water-type pokemon. A friend!!

Swanna kind of reminds me of Swan Lake, so needed that dance connection ☺️

Clauncher is THE BEST Gen 6 water-type. I love lobsters, so gym leader me probably has its evolved form. I know I’m encroaching on Siebold’s surf and turf in a major way, but he’s Elite Four and owns his own restaurant, he’s out of the gym game.

Gastrodon is a major cutie! West Sea because I’m more of a west-coaster than an east-coaster at heart 🤫

I’ve never been good at using Vaporeon in pokemon games, but they are quite lovable! I think it looks very graceful, and has a neat design.

Since I’m repping Kalos, I gotta have a pokemon that Mega-evolves! Never used Blastoise, I picked Charizard in X, lol. Despite how fierce it looks, this one’s extremely gentle!

Are Porygon-Z okay? They look like they're not having a good time, and they twitch like something is wrong with them. Is it ethical to evolve one?

depends. older dubious disks were just straight up viruses. some porygon evolve by just accidentally contacting computer viruses while surfing the web or digging through bad code and evolve from it and theres not much you can do other than just make sure youve added a good anti virus. there are also special vaccinations some specialized porygon care centres offer that let you introduce your porygon to some smaller easier to spot viruses to train them to notice the signs of a sketchy program so theyre less likely to catch something. you can get decomputer worming treatment for your porygons too if they catch a worm program too. overall though its hard to remove the viruses if it advances to a stage where they evolve into porygon z.

porygon z evolved with older dubius discs, dubious discs produced by well. dubious creaters, or by natural exposure to malware will be in pain and glitch a lot and it will not be fun. theres also the chance that if they dont evolve with the RIGHT programs they may have even worse traits. the original dubius disc contained a program for exploring other realities that wasnt made well and turned into a virus and thats what messed them up real good. other viruses or poorly made code can fuck them up even worse because theres less known about that specific type of porygon z

most modern dubius disc and porygon z programs are carefully made to be very standardized. glitches and effects that are overall the same for each porygon z. be careful when finding the right program or disc and it should be fine?? its not necessarily painful unless theyre triggered into a really bad glitching fit. and usually their glitching is controllable enough. that being said i still wouldnt evolve ur porygon on purpose unless its absolutely sure it wants to be a porygon z. even with modern discs, the occasional glitching can stress out a lot of porygon z that evolved without knowing what was happening because their trainers just wanted a faster and harder hitting pokemon to porygon 2. theyre also much higher needs than porygon 2 because while porygon 2 and base porygon can usually chill out in whatever computer as long as you train them well, you need a special computer JUST for your porygon z thats disconnected from any networks or else they will fuck shit up and they cant really help it.

overall i recommend against the evolution unless you are sure you have a safe dubious disk, your porygon wants it, and you have the means of dealing with the glitching and unexpected behaviours.

at least thats what ive heard i dont have a porygon and i dont know too much about them so take anything ive said with a possible grain of salt but i did do as much research as i could.

When you’re sitting in bed and then the ideas come straight to you at 1 in the morning, so now you gotta talk about Alolan Raichu because no one has uttered a peep about it because it’s always “Alolan Vulpix” this and “Alolan Sandshrew” that, but no one ever talks about the freaking pancake giver for some reason AND THIS INJUSTICE SHALL BE RECTIFIED!

In case anyone couldn’t tell, Alolan Raichu is my favorite Alolan variant because I would have a good excuse to ever evolve a Pichu (my favorite Pokemon) all the way into a Raichu, as it’s everything I believe the OG Raichu should have been. The fact that no one brings up this absolute gem often is a shame because it’s a literal surfing pokemon before the gold surfer mascot ripoff existed and also, HELLO, IT SERVES AND MAKES PANCAKES, HOW IS IT NOT POTENTIAL CAREGIVER CODED?!

Aoi: We have a problem. *pulls up her staff list* If I assign Nezuko to Kyojuro, Mitsuri, Muichiro, or Gyomei, there’ll be an issue. Mitsuri and Kyojuro have huge appetites, and Nezuko’s not equipped for that. Muichiro may get distracted again and distract Nezuko on accident while attempting his breakfast. And Gyomei’s not too keen on having her near because he’s still getting used to having kids be near him again, and I don’t think I want to push it.

Nezuko: I’m not that young, Aoi!

Aoi: And he’s 7’2, he’s gonna think it’s a kid he’s talking to, and the only three of us that can handle him are myself, Tanjiro, or Genya. But if I have you swap out with Tanjiro, then Tanjiro’s stuck having to either do Kyojuro or Tengen, and Tengen specifically wanted Zenitsu today because he had Inosuke mess up his order last time!

Inosuke: It was just dirt, woman!

Aoi: And that’s the problem!

Alolan Raichu: *floats in* Hey, guys, what’s going on?

Tanjiro: Aoi promised the Hashira a breakfast banquet today, and she’s trying to figure out who to assign which of us to.

Whichever one gets Giyu has the other get Kyojuro. That’s one scenario that could work, but that leaves the rest as subpar options to serve the other 7 Hashira. Ideally, both Nezuko and Tanjiro can serve almost all of them, but you have to put into account what they also dislike. For instance, Tanjiro, what’s your preference, Obanai or Sanemi?

Tanjiro: Uh… Obanai because he doesn’t hate me as much?

Alolan Raichu: Right, Nezuko, what about you?

Nezuko: Um… Sanemi because I don’t trust Obanai all that much.

Alolan Raichu: *pulls up chalkboard to show a diagram* See, if we had to put people to serve someone they ideally would avoid, based on picking the lesser of the poisons, Tanjiro would rather get Obanai despite the latter hating him just for talking to Mitsuri because he and Sanemi are a 75/25% chance ratio to getting into a fight or leaving it be for now. Meanwhile, since Nezuko doesn’t like Obanai, she’d rather get Sanemi in this case instead.

Alolan Raichu: I got 25 baby Pokemon that I watch back at home, four of them play in a fighting game tournament. What do you think?

"Okok!" Illanero says, stepping towards Lance and his Dragonite, before pausing, and looking out at the lake. "Do you think the red Gyarados is in pain?"

"Unfortunately, it's near certain," Lance says. "But unless someone's willing to catch it and bring it to a Pokemon Center, there's not much we can do."

"I can do it!" Illanero says. "Niko knows Surf! We can go try to calm it down!"

Lance's eyes widen, before he smiles. "Knew you had a caring spirit. But I'm going with you."

Ive thought about the canceled azure flute at least once a week for the past 15~ years and how the devs said they never released it because "it was too complicated" (need I remind you you were just supposed to walk to the peak of Mt coronet and do nothing), and I always compared it to the Regis side quest(?), which I was reminded of because I was doing yesterday. Surfing to a specific spot, needing 2 rare pokemon (that took 20-30 minutes for both for me to find yesterday) needed to read braille, you needed to do that to get regigigas in dppt already. I really don't know what they meant by "too complicated" when you already had to go to Mt coronet for the story anyway. Guess it wasn't so complicated they finally released the event in 2022 unchanged in bdsp
