I think shiv might get a lot more undue hate then her siblings necessarily because of the fact that she is in a relationship with another main character. we can excuse kendall's treatment of rava and Roman's many many relational fuckups bc they aren't really main characters (even to a certian extent gerri). we don't see the multi levels on which they are affected emotionally like we do with Tom bc he IS a main character. so when shiv hurts him we KNOW how Tom will feel and it hurts us more as the audience. so naturally we want to dislike shiv for her actions but I think it's important that we don't disregard that in some sense her brothers do the same thing. just bc we don't see all the dirt and filth and hurt doesn't mean that they didn't do it too.

astarion opinion post (ascension discourse incoming)
ascended astarion discourse is all over my tumblr rn so i thought id throw my 2 cents in. this isnt gonna make a lot of sense, probably, and keep in mind ive never played BG3, im just OBSESSED with the silly vampire man (and watched the supercut of all of his romance and personal quest scenes)
opinions under cut (to spare those who dont want the discourse and are just here for hot vampire man)
okay so. ive seen like...3 opinions about him. those being "do what you want, its ur playthrough", "ascending astarion turns him into an abuser"/"youre a horrible person for ascending astarion" and "ascended astarion hot" me personally, I agree with two of those statements.
HOWEVER. on the moral-ness of the whole...ascension thing.
post ascension, does he ever abuse tav? because I have yet to see anything even suggesting he does so.
yes, its going to be bloody. of course it is, it's DnD in the 3rd dimension. its going to be bloody. Did you not realize how bloody the actual game of DnD is? you commit a LOT of murder in that game
Subpoint: how many murders in bg3 is too many? because iirc you cannot play the game pacifist...this aint undertale, my friend.
Have you never so deeply desired revenge over your abusers? because I'd like to give what's been done to me 3fold, and i've only dealt with abuse for 5 years. Imagine 200 years of abuse in a way that we literally cannot understand because it's not possible in our universe. OF COURSE astarion wants to be stronger than cazador, and to get his revenge on cazador. HE'S BEEN ABUSED.
Seriously I cannot stress this enough his desire to hurt cazador is so that he cannot be abused again.
segway: and if you knew, that doing this one thing, would prevent you from suffering any of the negative side effects of a condition you've had for a WHILE, would you not do it? Don't say no, don't lie to me.
and about the spawns: again. you are not a horrible person for commiting murder in a video game. it is a video game, they are just pixels. what you would do in a video game does not always line up with real life.
In conclusion, who needs morals when you have good hair?
also i would let astarion drain me like a capri-sun and my last words would be thank you
#wren rambles#baldurs gate 3#bg3#astarion bg3#astarion ancunin#ascended astarion#astarion baldurs gate#bg3 astarion#ascended astarion discourse#i simp for astarion okay leave me be#tbh tho id be perfectly happy living my long vampiric lifespan as his spawn

I’ve just seen ur post about Barca matches being boring and I wanted to throw my 2 cents in
Am I slightly biased cos I am a Barca fan ? Maybe
But the games rnt boring - if they win like 7-0 great I get to see my team play pretty cool football;
If they win by 1 or 2 or if it’s not a clean sheet then I can say that we’ve played not the best and I recognise that the teams not played at their highest level
I also can appreciate the other teams defence and chances (if it’s a “low scoring game” I can recognise that the other teams defence is really good; if there are a few chances for the opposition I can recognise their creativity or our good defence in shutting them down) if that makes any sense
I also like seeing the “babies” play and the squad rotation (if there is any ahahaha) and tryna work out tactics and stuff
I think a lot of Barca fans recognise when the team doesn’t play at their best even if it is a win
Anyways that’s my thoughts on it but yeh if u think it’s boring don’t watch it? I guess ahahaha (not in a negative way in like a if u don’t want to watch it u don’t have to kinda way)
first off i want to make it abundantly clear that me saying that the games are boring doesn’t mean i want barca to play half arsed. my opinions come from a place of frustration that the other teams can’t keep up. in no world would i want a team to take their foot off the gas just to make things fairer
however i will say that if a team has to give themselves individual player goals for each game, (as per the information from laia cervello herrero. not sure show reliable she is but anyway) then to me that means that the team already know they’re gonna win. having to work towards other targets to make it interesting for their own players , in my opinion, is a little dull
barca are a world class team and it’s so great that they have the ability and quality to do so well, but unless it’s a champions league game there’s legit no risk to their success because they are miles better than everyone else in liga f. a good game for me isn’t just racking up the goals. and yes they do play beautiful football but again, it’s not just about skills on the ball like you said, tactics are big. But it’s rare they have to use them in terms of having to break the other team down for example. Its seams like it’s just for rotation purposes from what ive seen
if my team could win like barca would then id be buzzing but that also doesn’t mean they’re fun games to watch. the best type of win is an unexpected one, to me at least
and for the record i don’t watch barca games unless it’s cl because to me that’s when i see them play their best football against the best teams. so yeah i don’t watch the league because i don’t want to
with all these barca anons i feel like im on trial!

So a bit of a 'statement to your audience' bit seeking your opinion in the public forum at the same time:
I see people giving Marinette a lot of flak over time, a bunch of which I think is misdirected, and wanted to throw out an example and see if it makes sense.
My standpoint: Marinette is indeed overrepresented-even for a protagonist, but she is at the same time horribly underserved by the story too. A lot of the things that annoy people are not the character, but how she is treated.
I'll use Cat Blanc/Ephemeral as my example. The two times Marinette *ended the world*.
Cat Blanc is a good episode. Mari abuses the miraculous for seemingly harmless reasons. We get chaos, drama, and she 'learns a lesson.' good times.
Then Ephemeral rolls in, and she does it all again, for *not* harmless reasons. Su-Han required Cat Noir's ID. But the an that involved abusing the snake miraculous and Cat Noir's love for her to obtain his ID under false pretenses instead of just... Talking to her partner like a human being... Was all Marinette. (Gabe and Lila are in the corner taking notes)
The rest of the episode happens, we won't dwell on it until the end. Time is reset, and what happens?
Does Marinette 'I overthink everything' stop and ask what she was about to do that time reset *right here?* Does she have a moment of realization? Does she connect Cat Blanc to Ephemeral the way the Mari we know and love would do? Does she stop in horror at what she was going to do to Cat Noir?Does she get to realize and grow? No. She mouths off to the useless Su-Han and we get an awkward 80s sitcom fistbump.
Mari was robbed. People shouldn't complain she 'got away' with anything. They should complain she had growth taken from her.
Sorry hit send too fast. This is just one example. Marinette suffers from this a *lot* for 'plot'reasons. It's terrible, but folks shouldn't direct their unhappiness *at* her for it.
That's my 2 cents.
---
Eh... I'd argue that Marinette didn't really *need* to learn a lesson in Chat Blanc. But Ephemeral... yeah she screwed Chat over there and her thinking behind it wasn't really brought up again and dealt with. People who followed me at the time that episode came out should know how I feel about it, I actually wrote a fic as follow-up where Marinette realized that manipulating Chat Noir like that, for that reason, was wrong and apologized, with Chat getting to be angry, but after talking things out with one of his other friends, calming down and then him and Marinette talking things out, explaining their feelings, and reconciling with a promise of things being okay later, but it still being a sore spot for Chat right now. Anyway, I'm really proud of Transcient, so if that sounds interesting then give it a shot! Here's a sample from the middle of the fic, when Marinette's talking out the situation with Alya.
“You screwed up,” Alya told her bluntly.
Marinette groaned.
Her friend pinched her nose, giving out a long sigh. “Girl, just… just walk me through your thought process here. Please. Why did you think it was a good idea to try to lie and trick your partner into giving up his identity to someone else without him even knowing about it?”
“I mean, I am planning on revealing my identity to him later, so… is it really a lie?” she asked weakly.
Alya glared at her. “At the time you said it you weren’t planning on following through, so yes, that was a lie .”
She looked down, biting her lip. “But if I didn’t, Su-Han was going to take Chat’s Miraculous. I- I can’t lose him, Alya.” Her voice cracked. “I already did once, back in New York, and I- I don’t want to go on being Ladybug without him.”
Alya’s expression softened, but her voice maintained a hard edge. “I get that, but why not just tell Chat about Su-Han’s ultimatum, work it out together? He’s your partner and this is about him, he should have a say on what to do with his own secret identity.”
“But what if he refused?” Marinette asked urgently. “Last time he met Su-Han, he was so upset about the Celestial Guardian’s insistence that I stop being Guardian - that I lose my memories - that he dared him to try and take his Miraculous. We ended up having a pretty tough fight, one that I’d rather not repeat. He said at the time that he’d give up his Miraculous if I asked, but… well… I don’t know whether that would extend to telling Su-Han his secret identity.”
The writing can be a bit hit-or-miss with Marinette, with her sometimes being blamed for things more than she should be, and then other times getting away with things that should have been interrogated more and used as character development opportunities. I think there are more hits than misses overall, but it can be shaky at times.
The writing for Marinette has been pretty strong so far in the officially released episodes of season 5 at least, so hopefully that continues to hold.

Since you’ve been getting a few ask about your thoughts on F&C season 2 I’m going to throw my two cents in and ask a question about it. What do you think will happen to Prismo in the next season if he appears at all ? In the end of Cheers when his face glitches out for a brief moment when talking to Scarab seems concerning. It could be caused by the glitches our ‘normal’ touch that Fionna and Cake accidentally cause to objects and people across multiple universes ? Or the tear/crack like injury Prismo gets on his arm when he breaks out of Scarabs Cube Container? Or as a result of his grief over Jake’s death? (Or perhaps a combination all three ?).
For a non F&C Adventure Time question there might be a chance we get to learn more about Jake’s backstory in the prequel spinoff series ‘Side Quests’ would that be something you’d like to see ?
Also what’s your favourite kingdom in the series and/or what’s a location you’d like to see more of in the future?
YAY whoever these got damn anons are thank you im so normal
i dont really . have any Predictions of what i think Would happen with him but i think theyre at least gonna bring him back like hes at least gonna be in there . i think the face glitch thing is definitely gonna be explained in the next season like you cant just randomly flip his face upside down for a second and never bring it up again yk . i dont really have any theories of what it could be from yet theres not really much to go off of yet .
okay this is the first time i have heard of them makign a prequel spinoff holy shit . first of all so fucking excited for that what . 2nd YES DEAR GOD on my hands and knees pendleton ward please more jake backstory please pl
basic ass answer but candy kingdom ... its so interesting in so many different ways imnot gonna get into all my thoughts about it right now though . and id love to learn/see more about the human island from the islands miniseries like howd their culture develop ? how does their society generally function ? do they still have religions ?? how is the economy . much to be asked about it

2 throw my two cents into the whole "bimbo" converstion i think its very childish... like extremely commiting to anti intellectualism cause "men will think youre dumb anyway" but elle woodsing it around and "actually being smart the whole time" but doing it through your own community's terms. but the thing is all of the terminology they use intead of acedemic is stolen/butchered aave & ballroom slang(?) and the only "bimbo" ppl ive seen have been white & non black woc. so food 4 thought on that. but it also never challenges the patriarchy in its most basic sense. "what if im smart And hot?!?!?!?!" wouldve been groundbreaking in like, a 00s chickflick but this is real life 2020s & thats no longer in the cultural zeitgeist? id honestly respect this movement if it was in the whole 90s-00s era but in the age of commodifying yourself into a little consumable video full of algorithms and shein and buying your personality and aestehtics replacing subcultures and all these things it just seems like a "good socially aware" excuse to play dress up. like uts olay to dress pink and dye your hqir blonder and wear nails. thats cute! but i dont think you need an entire reclamation narrative around it either bc there isnt even a centralised idea around it to my knowledge. like with goths & punks & emos you can very easily tell what theyre about and what they stand for, but this whole bimbo shit is so contradicting. is it reclaiming being blonde and dumb? reclaiming feminity and being smart? just dressing nice????? and on a far more personal level everyone seems like they have a stick up their ass. goths and punks get characterised as mean and elitist but their values often correlate with community care and what havd you. the bimbo people are the hyper individual "i dont owe you anything" "gaslight gatekeep gagglejejsj" type.......... lik.e what is a community if youre not even ... a community? its like parading as a super oppressed group but like.. feminine women always get the foot up? like the entire narrative that hyper feminine women get shat on obvs has some merit to it but it acts as if masc women dont exist and arent demonised by men and women. the invisibility that comes along with being a masc woman is something i wont pretend to understand but u know....... i just rhink its stupid and comes from when people understand social politics and get their activism from condescending twitter threads & not from like... good sources that encourage their own opinions and observations and applications. god

Just something about c!Wilbur I'm not sure if anyone's talked about.
People who can be abusive or toxic, also can actually love people and see themselves as "just doing what's best", even if they hurt those they care about through what they see as acts of love or protection. It doesn't redeem them or excuse their behavior, but they do often see it as "I did what I thought was best for us!"
Just like as explanation that you can manipulate people out of very misguided love.
Abusers can suffer from mental illness and also be capable of feeling and giving love--just they really need some big therapy and a big break from those they hurt, no matter how much they love them.
Personal aside below.
As someone who has left an abusive parent who spousified me, an abuser often does love you. Just. It isn't good for you or them. And they can spin really convincing stories and gaslight you and often will proclaim they'd protect you from harm.
To this day, I'm pretty sure I'm still stalked.
But actions over words. I have to admit that it did trigger old memories the whole "Id have protected you from Dream." (but hey, I went through therapy, triggers are supposed to be dealt with internally--its not anyone else's fault or responsibility to manage mine).
But I also know that turn around with "but actually Dream good" is kind of how my abuser was. You point out you're being harmed or hurt and need protection, and often they start gaslighting or attempting to downplay your feelings, despite what they promised you--whether it be their boyfriends or friends.
Anyway, I love cc! Wilbur Soot for showing this in media. Emotional abuse and manipulation by adult figures to kids is only something I saw once with Tangled, and it was my wake up that "oh my god, my mother is insane." I think it's important that teens realize adults can hurt you without explicitly laying it out in a way you can see.
If it wasn't for the internet, I'd have probably believed some of those lies for longer.
#dream smp critical#wilbur soot l#wilbur soot critical#fyi i love wilburs arc and respec him and cherish him#i just thought id throw my 2 cents that often abusers are mentaly ill

Why going slow is good for Chenford’s longevity as a couple
Have been reading lots of comments lately about discouraged Chenford fans that were disappointed that the Rosalind story didn’t involve Lucy and feature more Chenford. As an amateur writer and veteran shipper, thought it would be helpful to list some points as to why a slow burn is good for the big picture.
1.) 4x22 and 5x01 got lots of Chenford fans excited because Lucy and Tim got to try on a romantic relationship without any of the commitments of a real relationship. (Or so Tim and Lucy thought.) Up until now there have been little moments that all add up to something more but fast forwarding them into a full-fledged romantic PDA pairing gave us a glimpse into their future and its quite clear their future could be really bright, exhibit A from all the lovely fan art , fan videos, and fan fictions, etc. have come out of the end of last season and this season so far.
2.) What I especially love is the writers have so cleverly given us the perspective from both Tim and Lucy, which is a gift. This doesn’t happen much in fandoms. Its often one sided or just a tryst to generate ratings, but to have canon evidence from Tim’s perspective “Call me crazy but this doesn’t feel like pretend.” And Lucy’s perspective from her ‘sexy dream’ reliving the kiss to show how she’s had Tim on her mind when he is with her, and when he isn’t with her, is pretty generous.
3.) That said despite the canon proof that there are feelings on both sides, Chenford has to get through some housecleaning and emotional issues first. And why this is good is because this means there is tons of story/plotline potential for them as a couple to explore their angst and feelings for one another to stretch through the remainder of the season. And the longer they stretch this out, the better chance that they are in it for the long haul as a couple, because the writers have invested a large amount of time and energy into their storylines.
4.) Unlike Nolan and Bailey who have been together romantically for quite some time and have all the appeal of (sorry to say) stale bread at this point, Lucy and Tim have been together longer, their relationship goes much deeper, and they are in every single episode together. If they cashed out now, Id worry that like Nolan/Bailey they may also get a bit stale and then the writers would be forced to break them up or throw some kind of wrench into their relationship.
5.) Having watched other shows where they bait the shippers, ‘Sleepy Hollow,’ being one example with Crane and Abby, or ‘Game of Thrones,’ with Brienne and Jamie, the Chenford relationship has a strong foundation and episode's 4x22 and 5x01 proved that the writers are prepared to put their money where their mouth is.
6.) And last but not least, Chenford practically share's almost every scene together. Whether they are officially a couple or not, the writers are foreshadowing that they have a strong and committed partnership.
There is never a guarantee, but the points above prove that are a lot of positive things in which to look forward. I also have a strong feeling that the Rosalind storyline has entered phase 2.0 with Jeffrey becoming the new Rosalind, who may just want to pick things up where Rosalind left off, so if that is the case, Lucy’s not out of the woods yet, and neither is Tim. My two cents is that fan fiction is great for exploring things off the page, but the canon story is much more enjoyable for the viewer if they can sit back, try to avoid preconceived expectations, enjoy the ride, and take in all of the lovely little breadcrumbs they give each episode because there are now enough Chenford moments in good faith that their story is one to invest in for the long term.

re: your tags here
Ive always felt like Too Many People was more justified then How Do You Sleep, because lyrically Paul wasn’t really making a statement on Johns entire being and personality - he’s (IMO) making valid claims about the actions of John and Yoko, and the way in which he was treated by John etc. (eg. “Too many people pulled and pushed around”). Its always felt to me as though with TMP, Paul was getting perspective on his life and on his relationships. Its still a bitchy breakup song, but like, theres a point to it, if you get what I mean? It isn't a solely just an unfair attack against John, because theres substance to it.
Whereas in HDYS, Johns claims seem for the most part to be insincere, unproductive, needless (eg. “The only thing you done was yesterday” - like John, bby, we *know* thats not true), and overall just spiteful and aggressive, I guess. I feel like theres arguably some valid truths to Johns resentment in the song, but he’s so enamoured by this bitter feeling towards Paul that he fails to bring out any genuinely valuable claims against him. All in all, it doesn’t feel to me as theres any kind of benefit or perspective gained from writing the song, he’s only adding fuel to the fire.
(Btw if youre sick of hearing about HDYS discourse for the evening then no pressure to answer this - just thought id throw my 2 cents into the Tumblr void :) )
This is an interesting point. I think what makes HDYS kind of fail for me as a song that could potentially help me sympathize with John is how deeply unpersonal it feels to me.
John deliberately chose to attack Paul's artistry and public persona, knowing this would be something that would hurt Paul more than other points of attack. In doing that though, he sacrificed the relatability of the song by not touching on the personal wrongs Paul had done (or he perceived Paul to have done). It's a diss track but he doesn't even seem to care about Paul or whatever he's done to deserve this. (This is what I meant a few days ago when I said George wrote better anti-Paul tracks. Because George wasn't afraid to say what he truly felt and express his real sadness or frustration at having lost a friend.)
That being said, I think there are probably some very mean-spirited lines in TMP meant for John, like the one about losing weight, which could very well have been a vague reference to John's disordered eating habits/weight loss from drug abuse. Also Paul seemingly rubbing Linda in John's face to spite him at the end of the song.
All that is mean and petty, but first of all, it wasn't something the GP picked up on and was thus only meant for John to understand and second of all feels personal. The song is petty but "And that was your first mistake / You took your lucky break and broke it in two" just sounds far more like he was once invested in his relationship with John than HDYS sounds, to me personally at least.
IDK if HDYS was warranted. I think John felt like Paul had hit him where it hurts and so he hit Paul back where it hurt Paul. It's all petty and stupid and their fight seems to be an endless cycle of YOU STARTED IT.

Someone kept stealing money from HS gym lockers during gym class.
TL;DR at bottom.
Senior year I went to a small high school, very low budget, country/white trash but not inner city. Played football my entire HS career, we had gym class all 4 years, every day, pretty fun. I'm sure your gym was the same but basically ours was a basketball court with bleachers on each side and Male/Female lockers on opposite sides of the court as well. There was one entrance for each locker room on the outside of the school(locked usually), and 2 per locker room entrances visible from the gym court/inside.
We come from a pretty honest area and not very affluent so when we get changed from school clothes to gym clothes, we usually just throw our school stuff in a locker and close it(these lockers require you to bring your own lock) but of course no one but a few kids bring locks. We also have our own locker room for the football players that I do put a lock on(football gear is fucking expensive).
So one day we go out to play some field game like dodgeball, spend 45 mins in the field, head back in and get changed for the rest of the school day. Suddenly someone flips out and yells "WTF! Someone stole my 10$ outta my wallet for lunch!". We all chalk it up to just some scumbag who came in while we were outside, opened his unlocked locker and took it. Sucks but hey, lock your shit i guess is the lesson.
This is where is gets interesting. Every day or two, almost every gym period, people start realizing more and more of them were being robbed, some kids losing lunch money, pocket change, just some extra cash they had, etc.. started to get so bad and so many theft reports, that the teachers kept the locker rooms locked while we weren't using them, but again low budget, sometimes the doors dont get locked due to negligence.
I started to take my football locker lock and use it on my gym locker during the day and then put it back on my football locker for after school practices(football locker rooms were always locked during the day). One day I forget to bring my gym lock and put it on my football lock. I got 20$ in my wallet for gas from my mom that morning, ran late, planned to fill up after practice. Well I come back from practice to find my shit in my locker was all tossed and turned, and i'm missing my 20$. At this point its almost a joke in the school that everyones getting money stolen without a lock on their locker, if someone notices they got stolen from everyone just laughs and shrugs it off. I get PISSED. "No one steals from me, fuck this!" especially from the football locker room. Next day I go to the school officer, report the theft, nothing. Says "sorry we can't look at the cameras, there's none facing any locker entrances". K cool.
Couple days later I do the same stupid mistake because I never learn apparently. Get another 20$ and some spare change stolen from my pockets in the locker. Immediately notice it, sprint to the school officer in my socks and say "someone JUST stole from the locker room, pull cameras and see if anyone went towards that area in the past 45 minutes! (Hallways are usually empty during class time, anyone walking towards the gym would stick out like a sore thumb). Same run around, just report and take it. Fed up I go vigilante.
This may have been illegal but fuck this guy stealing everyones stuff. I set up a camera in the locker (camera lens pointing through a hole), waited until everyone left the room, hit record, locked the locker and went to gym. Sure enough someone had their money stolen and my face lit up with joy. I caught this mother fucker and he was gonna get the worst serving of justice.
Look on the camera with some friends and my jaw fucking drops. There on video is the VICE PRINCIPAL opening someones locker, grabbing their jeans and shaking them out. Coins falling, he picks them all up, takes money out of their wallet, and throws all the stuff back in the locker hastily. He repeats this on another 3 lockers until he leaves, all completely visible (even does a close up, face flashing across the locker I had the camera in).
Turn this video into one of my old freshman football coaches that i trusted really well and told him I wanna be anonymous. This is now way over my capabilities, I thought it was just some kid, id give the tape to the officer and boom, hed get caught and punished. No, it had to be the 2nd highest guy in power at the school, i mean fuck the officer could of been in on it, had to give it to someone I trusted.
Coach forwarded it to the school board, superintendent, etc... next day that vice principal doesn't show up. Then he stops showing up for 2 weeks, kids start to notice. An announcement goes out that he was removed from his position and no longer was staff member at the school. No reports of thefts in the past 2 weeks. Students start putting the logic together. Police report comes out that he has been arrested for theft, school goes bananas. Kids start making "Free Mr. Vice principal" shirts as a joke. Word also gets out that I was the one that got him caught (2 friends watched the video with me I guess couldnt keep their mouths shut). Becomes a huge joke in the school and I'm looked at as a hero. School officer even calls me in one day to say "I'm glad you did that, I can't legally tell someone to do that, but we were hoping someone would eventually, you won't be punished at all for the filming, thank you."
Later find out that he had a huge pain killer problem and couldnt afford the dealers costs on his 150k/year salary. He resorted to stealing money from high schoolers, some not being able to eat lunch that day, fill up their cars with gas, etc... Kicker is that he still sent me restitution checks for a couple dozen cents for a few years, required by the courts until he pays my 40$ off he stole. Just a great reminder of his fuck up, every month he gets 46 cents taken out of his account, has to sign the check and send it, knowing I'm the guy who got him caught and fired. Fuck that guy, don't steal from kids.
TL;DR - Thefts in high school locker rooms for a few weeks, finally rob me, get fed up, illegally record the room, find out its the vice principal with a drug problem. He gets fired and arrested. Don't steal from me.

Cashier at chiropractor laughs that she's going to have to charge me $10 for losing my ID.
So I throw out my back helping my brother move and need some therapy for about 30 days. The chiropractor I go to issues me a plastic card, which holds my personal info so that when I "check in" all the information pulls up on the docs screen. About 25 visits go nicely. Somehow, someway, I lose this ID. I show up first time without it. Kindly apologize for losing my ID. She's way more annoyed than she should be, the type that wears their thoughts and emotions on their sleeve. Gives me lots of attitude,
After a long deep sigh and eyes rolling (I'm really taken back by her shitty behavior)
"Sir, I need $10".
for what?
*now smiling* "Its company policy to charge $10 for a replacement card"
I didnt' bring any cash today
*smile vanished* "I'll check you in TODAY but bring cash next visit PLEASE" *types my name in computer and all is well, (I see first hand that bypassing the card was actually effortless and takes about 5 seconds\*)
Day 2 without ID
I check in, same bitch behind the counter, she looks up and seems to recognize me, I cut her off-
"looked around for my ID at home and couldn't find it, could you check me in again?"
"That'll be $10 for your replacement card sir"
"damn I forgot my money"
*She's seething pissed, but I don't give a frenchman's fuck, her attitude is has been awful from the start and I've decided to make it my personal mission to finish out the next 2 remaining days at this place without spending $10 on a worthless replacement card, which I personally know costs only 40 cents each to buy blank mag swipe cards from being in the point of sale business* I also now realize she has no power here and has to move me forward anyway, regardless of what she says because the Doc isn't going to turn down my money.
Day 3 without ID
I walk in the door, we make eye contact, never have I seen her get out of her chair faster, shes pokes her head out the little window as I'm hanging up my coat and says -
"I really hope you brought the $10 today because you're not getting service without it"
"yea yea don't worry, I got it, just check me in like you been doing and I'll pay you when I cash out with my co-pay after the treatment."
*she glares at me, closes the window, looks over to the other girl in the office behind her and and has lots of energy in her words that I can't hear but it's obviously about me
I finish my fucking treatment, come back, hand her the $20 for my co-pay and start pretending to search my wallet
Shes starting to breathe heavy, anticipating Im about to fuck her over again, and shes right.
I pat my pockets, hold open my wallet, "Damn, looks like I only brought enough for the copay"
"SIR, THAT CREDIT CARD IN YOUR WALLET WILL BE GOOD ENOUGH"
"Oh I never use my credit card unless its an emergency, sorry maybe next time!" (I can't help but grin while finishing this statement) Her eyes are fire, she spent the last 20 minutes thinking she won our little game, and I just flipped the tables at the last second, and there's not a damn thing she can do about it.
I turn around and head out the door, while her eyes are burning holes in my back, door closes and I'm cackling and laughing my ass off all the way to my car. My back felt GREAT that day, it was my final visit. They can shove their $10 "policy" up their asses.

anyway if there’s both discussion on my dash tonight and i’m keeping up the ‘actually post some fandom thoughts’ thing well then. guess i’m gonna throw a few cents in.
1. I don’t care about ‘deep,’ I guess, maybe? But the story with Jack and Parse - if not the characters - feels so complex to me. They were best friends. And lovers. And teammates, co-leaders, linemates, and to some degree rivals.
And then Jack almost died. Kent saved him, probably, when he called the OD in. Jack might’ve been trying to die, might’ve just not been trying very hard not to... Kent will probably never know.
It was supposed to be - the Draft - the culmination of both their lives so far. In the event, Kent wins the prize that might’ve been supposed to be Jack’s. He’s sent all the way across the country. (They were gonna be separated like that, regardless. It was a part of what they were working for). Jack won’t - can’t - whichever, talk to him anymore...
Jack failed out of life with that OD. All his plans were derailed. But he figures things out, what he wants: comes back around to that same old goal, in a different way.
Meanwhile, Kent’s lighting it up on the ice. He’s beyond amazing. He misses Jack: he wants them to play together again. Wants, I feel, to make things right.
Jack still can’t talk to him.
... note how I didn’t say anything about either of them as individual people in all that. Oh, I could, I have tons of characterization in my head and some of it’s even canon-supported, too ;), but, also, I don’t need to? It’s secondary in this particular case.
Because it’s the story, the setup, above, that’s so irresistible to me. There’s so much stuff going on there! That setup is pretty much all there is... I won’t argue with that. But it has layers of hurt, connection, ambition,... I don’t know how to explain myself, god. If it doesn’t speak to your id, it doesn’t.
But all the things you’ve lost! Things you might not’ve lost!... there’s just So Much there to play with, to me.
2. So I’ve been stuck on it, despite virtually no new canon or the hint of any, since I fell in love with this story (this particular story, only, I don’t care a bit about the rest of the canon), almost two years ago now. Multiple flirtations with other fandoms in this time still have not managed to displace it!
Like someone looked into my head and wrote the premise but not the story for the #career-ending injury fic of my heart. Maybe that explains it best.
3. Also Jack Zimmermann did too used to have hints of complexity! He’s an awkward weirdo loner and anxious too and I’m *blasts Rick Astley really loud.*
4. More to the point... (I do hope it’s okay that I’m spilling my feelings out like this, like it doesn’t come out as the wrong sort of passive-aggressive or whatever? I’m not tryna fight and am one thousand percent happy to disagree. I’m just .. talking).
5. re: Ngozi changing her mind re: the story she’s telling. Well, yeah? I think it’s happened multiple times already, expanding/continuing on things that weren’t originally going to be continued directly. And re: Parse, specifically... surely many of us saw this coming a mile away?
She doesn’t like conflict with or among her fans. I get it! I wouldn’t either!!! Although I don’t even and will never have fans, so I shouldn’t talk... but, yes, of course, she’s close enough to her audience (and fandom) that it does affect her.
And I for one don’t see what would be gained if she were to talk about this as it’s happening. If you want to avoid conflict in and/or with your fandom... talking about the choices you make to avoid it would, surely, only feed said conflict further? Nobody needs all the second guessing that, to be fair, this point itself is entirely part of.
I’d love the ~original story~ (of the small part of the story I even care about!) as much as anyone, ... or maybe not. There’s always fanfic. It gives me so many more choices, there’s always at least a few that are better for my personal tastes than whatever canon would turn out to give.
Anyway, as much as I don’t even care about the current comic canon. (And, admittedly, quite possibly enabled by that.) Man, if I had a hungry and critical fandom discussing my every creative move... about the last thing I’d want to do is discuss when they’d made me change my mind.
#one things makes a post#omgcheckplease stuff#...#....#fandom how does it work#jackparse#kent parson#i need to (re)learn how to sleep after posting Opinions on the internet...

hi hi college senior here, saw you asking about college friends/social stuff thought id throw my 2 cents in maybe! huge thing is just getting out of your comfort zone, super cliche but it works, even if youre introverted there are ways to do it. try and eye up people when you go into lecture ie someone with a cool fit or a band tee or like looks friendly and sit down and introduce yourself! dont feel awkward just go for it esp in freshie lectures everyones in the same boat and remember its only awkward if you make it awk so if it doesn't go well or they're not reciprocative just let it be water off your back. clubs both academic and social are great for friendships too and even greek life though its intense can really give that built in friendship group if you really dont trust your social skills on your own lol. also would suggest to just say yes to every social opportunity that presents itself (that is safe and not sus obvs), you never know where youll end up or what itll turn into or who will be there, you meet people in the most random places and the last thing you want is to regret not trying/going. also lastly, i remember my first week sitting at the dining hall looking around being like shit it looks like everyone is already set in their friends nd have a friend group and identity etc ITS. NOT. TRUE. every SINGLE person in there is having that exact same thought; freshie friendships/groups will change SO FAST a lot of friendships are friendships of convenience at first, just people you get along with moderately well that you can eat with and hang with and text with for a while but a lot of those dont last but are great transitional friendships and can lead to a lot better ones or be a bridge while you get your footing and figure out how to go about things :) sorry if thats a lot, just have so many regrets from college and so many things i wouldve said to younger me including all of this so yeah <3 gl you'll be totally fine, it is what you make it and if you try your best theres no way it cant turn out in your favor, genuinely
this is so helpful! thank you<3 i really appreciate it:) im hoping that since most of my clothes are bands/shows, i’ll be okay. if not, i’ll just use my sales personality and exist lmao

I'm stealing @miyacantdecide 's idea and giving my two cents on each topic.
1) I think it would have progressed much like the Beth timeline. Whole she might not have gone to the protest with Lucas, I dont think she would have gone out with Kate. I have a feeling she would have been preparing at least for the interview, and she never would have met Josh the second time on the train.
2) I think its becuase in the Beth line Lucas is seeing her more a friend than a potential partner or Beth just didn't tell him. He seems a bit childish sometimes and could be hurt by the idea of Beth dating someone else.
3) OK, so, I'll try not to rant on this like my head wants me too. Simply put i assumed it either had to do with "three strikes you're out" which is a sports metaphor but doesn't really fit the context, or "third times the charm" which does. Also, (I'm basing my assumptions based of my family's expirence in the Canadian military up until the mid 90s and anecdotal evidence) Josh is most likely Catholic or heavily influenced by Catholism. Like a lot of religions three is a big number. There were three wise men and it took Jesus three days to rise again. Twelve, the number of apostles, is also divisible by three, and I know there's a whole lot more these are just some big ones. Now onto why I think this: the military, both here and there, is heavily catholisized despite the separation of church and state. Militray towns/reserves often have roman catholic churches (at least the ones where my family live do) or other forms of Christianity. When you're asking someone to die for an unknown cause, it's smart to make them think there is life after death. Theres also a large emphasis on having a family to come home to, and the idea that you will make it out and come home. When faced with he realities of the situation and you realize there's noo way home, a lot of people turn to religion. Id assume Josh would be on medical base, which would have a priest to preform the last rights, and by proxy some semblance of a church and church services. Since this takes place early 2010s, maybe before, it's plausible there's only Catholic/Christian priests. Based on many people saying this show reflected to a degree their expirences, I'd put forward the TV show M*A*S*H* is very similar to the environment Josh would have been in during war. Even to me it seemed like it was overly postive especially with all the high jynxs, but then my grandmother starts telling me about how my granddad caught a crow with his bare hands just to throw it into his SO's tent while he was sleeping and it seems a bit more realistic. Anyway there's a heavy Christian influence from the priest in that show.
(I dont know why I felt the need to prove this but MASH is a good TV show and I really like the crow story its funnier when grandma tells it.)
4) Lucas tutors at a highsvhool/uni level for whatever he can convince someone he can tutor them in.
5) she wanted to reinforce to Lucas that they're friends, not dating imo.
6) After some thought, if you go into the the idea that the Bethverse themes are taking the selfish route (idk if you saw the yt video ill have to find the link) then since staying friend with Lucas might be a more selfless route shed see less professional success and more personal, maybe not being such a high achiever at work but finding more fulfillment through her friends and social network like Liz did. I think the falling out with Lucas made her focus more on work than friends and to seek that satisfaction from her job becuase people were too volatile.
7) I don't know and I dont think I understand the nuances of it to guess. Maybe she just doesn't like Lucas all that much? It only happens in the start of Lizverse, right? Not all the way through?
8) They were looking up the proceedings for a divorce, that's what Kate's line about "According to this we don't need a lawyer we can do the paperwork ourselves" also I thought they were in a library.
a list of questions i have after watching if/then, as pulled from my liveblog
a few of these could function as fanfiction prompts tbh
what if liz had known beforehand it was an NYC area code and picked up stephen's call?
why does lucas only tag along with kate and anne to liz's blind dates and not beth's?
josh, please fucking tell me what the law of three coincidental things is.
who does lucas tutor? in what?
why did beth say "my friend lucas" to stephen during the baseball game in "ain't no man manhattan"? don't lucas and stephen know, or at least know of each other?
what if beth/lucas stayed platonic in bethverse? (the events during "what the fuck" stayed purely platonic). what'd happen then?
why does kate constantly attribute lucas with she/her pronouns and feminine characters even though liz said outright in it's a sign to not "use the she when he's around"? i don't think she's doing it to be insulting, but...yeah i don't know.
why did kate and anne do their legal work in a bookstore out of all places?

Rangers star Andy Halliday admits he was concerned for James Tavernier’s kids
Andy Halliday admits his thoughts were with James Tavernier's family after the Rangers captain was confronted by a fan on the touchline at Easter Road.
Tavernier clashed with the pitch invader towards the end of the first half of the Ibrox side's 1-1 draw with Hibs on Friday night in the latest sickening event to the Scottish game.
The fan was able to the same home supporters' section from which a bottle was thrown at Celtic's Scott Sinclair last Saturday evening.
Rangers defender James Tavernier was involved in an altercation with a fan on the touchline
An exasperated and embarrassed Hibs chief executive Leeann Dempster immediately offered a personal apology to Tavernier and vowed to ban the moron from Easter Road for life.
Halliday missed his team-mate being confronted and shoved because he had begun to walk to the tunnel for the break.
However, he swiftly turned back to help usher his skipper off and was ultimately grateful that no serious harm was done to Tavernier.
And he could not help but wonder how the defender's family – wife Melissa and two young children – felt watching the terrifying scene unfold during the live televised match.
'People can forget that Tav's got kids,' Halliday said. 'And those kids are watching the game sitting at home.
' They are only young – and they are just thinking about what happened on TV.
The pair were involved in a scuffle on the touchline after the fan had leapt the hoardings
'I was going off the park, heard the crowd getting up on their feet. I heard a ruckus, turned around. I actually thought something had happened between Tav and a ball boy, some child or altercation.
'I did not know what to make it. At that point, I just wanted to make sure I got my captain off the field, which is why I get used to it. ' The escalating anti-social crisis, which has Scottish football in its grasp, led to PFA Scotland demanding urgent action to curb the rush or incidents this season and protect the game's performers.
Players, managers and referees have all leg targeted by acts of violence and missile throwing at stadiums this season
'There is no place for that in football,' declared Halliday. "On the night, it's one idiot out of 20,000 and I do not know what was going through that idiot's mind. Someone would have to ask him.
'Maybe he's had a good time out of the pitch. It is very disappointing and a good game.
'I do not know why this has happened so often but I am sure action will be taken.' Dempster's apology and brisk action to front up and discuss the issue was accepted in full by Tavernier and Rangers.
The supporter kicked the ball away before clashing with the defender in the shocking scenes
Her club was moved to write to Sinclair and Celtic only last week to say sorry after a glass Buckfast bottle had leg hurled midway through the second half of Hibs '2-0 Scottish Cup defeat.
Fraser Wishart, chief executive of PFA Scotland, said yesterday:' We are at a loss a football ground which has been endangered […]
'We previously used the term "groundhog day" and we can not believe we are discussing this topic again, just days after a bottle was thrown at a player at Easter Road.
'We commend James Tavernier for his calm handling of the situation. We also welcome Leeann Dempster's swift condemnation of the incident and her comments that are nothing to do with […]
'It's clear the current processes are not working and we're talking for private discussions between the relevant authorities to ensure these dangerous practices are stopped. ' The back-to-back Easter Road incidents recruited memories for Hibs' on-loan striker Marc McNulty of the day he was confronted by one of his own club's fans storming the pitch.
McNulty was with Coventry last season when an angry supporter came on the field to protest as his team were losing 1-0 to struggling Forest Green Rovers in League Two.
Police just grabbed the scene
He moved towards Rovers forward Christian Doidge before advancing in McNulty's direction. Michael Doyle intervened.
'We were losing to the bottom team in the league and jumped on the pitch – he was raging,' recalled McNulty. 'I just walked away. There are police and stewards to handle these things. Plus, our captain ushered him away.
'I'm lucky that I've never laid hands on me but it's something we could happen unless this child stops.
' You can ' Do not think about these things when you go out to play football. But if someone does, you do not know what they might be doing – or what their intentions are. So you need your wits about you. ' Tavernier has required those wits one more than one occasion during his four years at Rangers. He was on the Hampden pitch swamped by Hibs fans in troubling scenes for Rangers players after the dramatic 2016 Scottish Cup final.
Then at Ibrox a year later, he was on hand to help push away a Rangers supporter who squared up to Celtic captain Scott Brown
McNulty, who moved from Coventry to Reading last summer, was astonished that Hibs were forced to deal with another disgraceful scene at Easter Road so soon after the Celtic game.
'After all that has been marked through the week and what happened in the cup tie, it is hard to explain why someone does this at the next home game,' he said.
'We are talking about 99 per cent or so many thousands of supporters behaving themselves – but one guy has spoiled it for all of them.
'It's unacceptable. You can shout from the stand all you like. But stay there. Do not cross the line.
'We know it's the passion that makes these games. There is a fine line between giving out stick – which everyone takes as a part of the game – and jumping a barrier to a player's face.
'When people do stuff like that, it makes things really hard . When police get involved like this, it's a bit of a nightmare. '
