NICO U GOT LASIK?????? HOW ARE YOU????????

Okay fuck it it's been 60 hours since my surgery and now im going to write a long post because im tired of not using my phone :/

anyways i hope my eyes aren't too stressed for typing this so i'm wearing sunglasses and my phone is on extra dim brightness with the blue light filter so please excuse any typos. i'm doing fine and yay i did not go blind (at least so far i hope it stays this way sksjsksk). i was so tensed before getting lasik i watched like every video on youtube and read every reddit thread i could (won't recommend because almost everyone posts about negative experiences on online forums since people with successful surgeries don't really care to share their experience mostly).

Getting the surgery done is such a cool experience because you're conscious the entire time, you lose your vision for a few seconds when they cut your eye flap but then a white light appears and you see different colored dots such as red and green, it feels like you're looking at stars through a telescope. When they turn on the laser to reshape your cornea you can actually smell something burning which I would've thought was the smell of my eye burning but turns out it's just particles in the air that the laser contacts which give off the smell i'm not sure tho.

Anyways, after getting the surgery done it's sadly not a fairytale ending as if you can see everything perfectly but when i got up i could actually read stuff that was far away from me (??!!!!??!!?!!!!) but everything was hazy, it wasn't blurred but it was just like everyone was glowing too much). anyways, after the surgery the doctor checked my eyes and told me i'd start feeling a burning sensation in half an hour, so i should sleep as soon as i get home. So i got home and the burning and itching started, it was very mild at first so i took the sleeping pilp they prescribed and went to sleep however i woke up after an hour and i literally couldn't open my eyes they were burning like hell. it felt as if someone had opened my eyes and was cutting onions on top of them. So i slept again and when i woke up the itching had stopped.

After waking up my vision was amazing, i mean there was still a weird glow but it wasn't too much and i could see everyone's face so clearly if it wasn't under the lights i felt like crying and i still feel like it when i can look at stuff so clearly with my own eyes 😭😭😭😭 it is so coo!!!!! i never thought i would see like this, I've been wearing glasses for the last 11 years and my eye sight came back in a few hours?????????!!!!!!!!!!!

Yesterday I went to the doctor and he told me that even though i was visibly tensed i still did an almost perfect job at aligning my eyes during the surgery and that everything was back in place perfectly. I still have to put in 3 different eye drops 4 times a day so that my eyes dont get too dry. I told him about the glare issues ive been having such as start bursts and halos around lights and he said they'd settle in a couple of weeks since my brain is still adjusting to this change (i hope he's right because i can feel the effect lessening in just 2 days)

Also i went out at night yesterday and the star bursts i saw coming from the cars and street lights were insane but they looked so fucking cool 💀 so yeah i guess that's all for now, all that I've done the past few days is listened to music with my eyes closed and i don't regret it at all :D

ok so I took a peek into TSATS and I see what u all mean when u say its out of character 😭 like, a lot of the narrative IS relative to various characters and such, like Nico's trauma, overcoming it, other things I haven't read yet, but the way it's written, and the way the characters go about portraying it... it doesn't even feel like Rick picked up a pen and wrote it. like, obviously he did, but you just can just tell the co-author really took the lead on this one.

and i 100% agree, after reading tcotg i’m convinced rick riordan didn’t- touch tsats with a ten foot pole.

i was very willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and say the book was a team effort when it came out but there’s simply no way that’s the case. my man lied. the writing style is so different and the interpersonal relationships between characters feel so off😭

don’t get me started about the humor because tcotg had its flaws but it was literally laugh-out-loud funny in some moments. had the difference been written on purpose- like, the authors wanting to characterise Nico and Will as kinda lame people- that could have been an interesting choice (i maintain my headcanon that Nico is only ever unintentionally funny), but i really doubt it was.

and why would Mr D hug and smile and coddle Nico and Will like… it’s giving self indulgent fanfiction where everyone adores the author’s favourite character. which, i mean, if you’ve ever read my Apollo fics you know that I get it, but a published book should be held to a higher standard imo!!!

tsats did not have to be a masterpiece but it was too OOC for me to enjoy.

omg hi its the anon who sent the jasico superhero au that was bouncin round my cranium u posted a response to back in like april if u recall i only just realised i never actually sent anything back but i was reading through my old reblogs and wanted to say the stuff u wrote fucks, like its so neat.

i love the groundworks for the worldbuilding stuff u have set up, mentioning unions and insurance stuff its so cool, and the way u gave nico like a kind of lois lane-ish journalist/possibly blogger idk vibe was stellar.

u mentioned debating whether nico would have powers, and id never considered it but immediately my brain went 'what if he doesnt at first, but gets them later on, has to deal with the implications of that on his life and such, and is just confronted with the truth of jason's secret identity, possibly without jason even knowing' idk u don't have to use that if u do wanna write more with it i just figured id share bc it just instantly popped up nagging my thoughts.

anyway yah it was super awesome to see the little idea that rolled around my mind half formed harassing me turned into something so brilliant!!!

I'm so glad you enjoyed it!! That makes me so happy to hear :D as for the worldbuilding I was blatantly inspired by the book Hench by Natalie Zina Walschots, but I took it in a different direction. The idea of Superhero unions fascinates me, and looking at a world and going "how would people react if this became a normal thing" is something I find really fun when doing worldbuilding.

And yay! I struggled a bit trying to decide what Nico was doing and decided Journalism Major fit his vibes enough that I wanted to run with it!! I hadn't even considered the Lois angle but aslksdflfk that's so fun. Too bad his superman made a terrible impression ey?

also that is a DELIGHTFUL idea. I love having to explore the repercussions of suddenly being at the same caliber of power as the heroes he writes about, trying to decide whether or not he's going to DO anything about this information... Mmmm I love that.

I had given it a lot of thought and my main sticking point was "do I want Bianca to also be alive in this au" because my initial thought was that a lot of Nico's trepidation towards heroes comes from the fact that Bianca was one and was either injured too badly in the line of duty to continue heroing, or was killed outright. I thought it would be interesting to see Nico grappling with that aspect of his sister who he looked up to, and what that profession eventually cost her, especially if she was just too injured to keep going, which would leave room for Nico's initial hero worship of Tonitro while also giving him the skepticism of "this is an inherently unfair system." In the end it didn't matter much to the snippet itself, but if/when I go back and write more (I'll be honest it's not even an if or a when because it's just so much fun for me that I have written a few more little snippets here and there of the au, just nothing polished enough to publish lol).

In any case, I was thinking about Nico having powers at the time of the Tonitro & Waterspout teamup in the ficlet and that he could/would use them to try and find Jason and potentially even help with the evacuation effort. I've got half of a scene written in my head that I now think would work really well as an accidental-identity-reveal that Jason doesn't even realize has happened. That is such a fun concept nonny, tyty

Chosen has his enhanced strength, a light orangey-yellow fire [sometimes white if he's very focused and it gets significantly hotter], enhanced healing within a 30 hour span, laser vision, enhanced speed, and quick thinking reflexes.

[no weather boy for youuuuuuu, no ice eitherrrrrrr]

Dark has enhanced strength, an orangey-red fire because it's not quite as hot as Chosen's [from feet as well so he can propel himself while carrying a civilian to safety or somethin'], enhanced healing within a 24 hour span, button-bots + all their capabilities, enhanced speed, feral mode where everything goes into overdrive and he suddenly is about as scary and terrifying as an eldritch horror straight from an R-rated video game-, and quick thinking reflexes.

Second's power is a bit more electrically based. He can heal wounds completely [plus scarring that would otherwise be permanent], instant teleport [has not discovered this], levitate both living things and objects [and himself!], quickened enhanced speed even greater than Cho and Dark, zappy zap, protective barrier shielding, and several more abilities that will be revealed as time passes~

Yellow does not make a pen.

Primal, yes. Can summon weaponry and other objects using her very body energy to create from thin air, but is limited by her energy levels, and the stone material that her summoned items take form in, raining down as chalky dust in the wind when shattered or released from existence.

Madame Pop-Up can create flat, near 2-Dimensional advertisements, of which she can move wherever she chooses at her will. She's much more powerful than anyone thinks, and has a naturally high energy stamina level to sustain using these powers for a long while. The advertisements can be an explosive weapon, a force to smack brutally upon an opponent, a tool for blinding someone, and a hovering platform for herself to glide over the skies upon.

The Alcoholic Twins, Vodka and Whiskey. Vodka does the high-pitched shrieking to stun and agonize his desired targets with a sense of dizziness and vertigo akin to symptoms of a hangover. Whiskey has the hallucination powers~ It's like the Nausea effect from Minecraft. Everything within the vision of the targetted individual suddenly wobbles and waves and makes it hard to stand properly.

[Chosen and Dark and Second all carry a slight resistance to these powers, but it's still an effective irritant and weapon]

Rum's powers are like a mixture of both, in a way. She can do both of those, but even more powerfully so because she combines both powers in a really effective manner. She's also able to enhance her sons' abilities by her mere presence alone, radiating absorb-able energy that only her sons can utilize. The twins are more like their mother than their father, in terms of superpowers.

SuperSticks!Jade, Jade the Pretzel: Powers are a surpriseeee~~ You Get One Little Tip: [as in I'm literally giving it away at this point] Don't think of the food pretzel. Think more of theeeee.... yoga position. U v U 👍

Mudd is... mud. Mudddy mud mudmud. Mud. Mudd. MUDDDDDDDDD. [*looks at Muk the pokemon-*]

Mudd has a cool arm canon for shooting the mud he can summon, but there's a nozzle on the gun that mixes his recently shot out mud with a toxic element that can burn through metal like some very powerful acids. He's dangerous, but also big and stupid. XD

Ballista's/BB-Gun's powers were covered already. So were Hazard's.

Today's the day...

My birthday.

You never liked our birthday too much, always met with disappointment. Sure, you get the 'happy birthday!' and 'how old are you now?’. But as you got older, people seemed to care less and less. Every birthday felt bittersweet in a way. You try not to think about it too much.

The sun shines through the porthole of your room, creating a nice light. You hear the rest of your crew outside on the deck. Luffy's voice is loudest as you hear him say, "Sanji!! Where's breakfast!?!?"

You're used to his yells about food. I mean, you can't blame him. Sanji makes the best food. He always adds the right amount of seasoning to make anything he makes taste absolutely delicious. You suddenly hear the cook yell back, "Have patience, dammit!!" and you can't help but chuckle.

You finally get out of bed, ready to start the day. As you are getting dressed, you hear a knock at the door. As you open it, you see your dear friend, Robin, with a present in her hand.

"Happy birthday", she says with her calm voice. The small smile on her face makes you smile as well.

'Oh my god, Robin, you really didn't have to. I thought everyone would forget".

"How could I forget one of my friend's birthdays?" she says, smiling sincerely. You and robin have been close friends ever since you joined the crew, and you wouldn't change a thing.

You take the gift and unwrap it in front of her. As you’re unwrapping it, you slowly start to see the title of one of your favorite books that you borrow from her collection.

“Thank you so much, Robin!” you hug her, not expecting such a thoughtful gift. As you say your goodbyes, for now, you set it down on your dresser, excited to read it later. Once you finished getting ready, you walk out on the deck and head to the kitchen where everyone else is. As you open the door, you see everyone seated at the table. The first person who notices you is, of course, Nami.

“Omg! The birthday girl is here”, she says. She gets up out of her seat and hugs you as you chuckle.

“I can’t believe you remembered, Nami”.

“It’s your birthday?!?!” you hear Luffy from across the room. You expected him not to remember. I mean, he can barely remember what day it is.

“It sure is”, you respond with a smile.

“Happy birthday!!!” he yells, hurting your ears in the process.

“Ha, thank you, Luffy.” You laugh along with the rest of the crew. You didn’t think it would turn into this big thing. You thought no one would really care, to be honest.

You sit down in your chair as Sanji serves you breakfast first.

“Here you are, mademoiselle. Happy birthday” he says.

“Thank you so much, Sanj”, you say as he responds with ‘of course. You also noticed a blush on his cheeks. He gets flustered so easily.

You watch as Luffy inhales his food, being down milliseconds. The rest of the crew, however, takes their time. They each talk about what plans they have for today and how far away we are from the next island. The attention suddenly turns to you when Franky says, “Hey! How about we let the birthday girl decide what we do today?”

The rest nod as they all turn to you. You aren’t good when put on the spot so they watch as you avert your eyes elsewhere. “I- uh - I don’t know. Um…have fun?”

“Sounds good to me” you hear from beside you. You look to see Zoro, finishing up the rest of his food. The rest nod and continue their conversation.

As breakfast comes to an end, you watch as Luffy, Usopp, and Chopper all head out of the kitchen and onto the deck to play some sort of game. You played a game with them one time… and you never will again.

You watch as everyone leaves the kitchen except for you, Sanji, and Zoro. Zoro was always taught to clean his plate before leaving the kitchen. And that’s exactly what he does as Sanji collects the rest of the plates.

“Hey, Sanji, do you need help with the dishes?” you ask, feeling bad that he always has to clean up after us. Sanji looks at you with heart eyes and a wide smile.

“I’m okay, thank you though! Enjoy your birthday, darling!” He says. You shrug and leave the kitchen, leaving Sanji and Zoro left washing up.

“I know you like her”, the words cut through the air like scissors to paper. Sanji stops what he’s doing, clearly affected by what the swordsman said. Zoro continues, “You like her more than the other girls, at least.” He says, still washing his dish even though it’s already cleaned.

“And? What’s your point?” Sanji responds harshly. His warm demeanor quickly turned cold as soon as you left.

“Just saying,” he starts putting his dish on the drying rack and moves towards the door until he’s almost outside of the kitchen, “you might have some completion.” He leaves the kitchen, leaving Sanji in his own thoughts.

The moonlight shines through your window as you use it as lighting to read your new book. You have already this book so many times, but it just gets better every time you read it.

Today has been one of the best days of your life. You spent the entire time with your friends. There was no fighting, no other pirates, no injuries, just… your friends. And you couldn’t ask for a better present than that.

You assume the rest of the crew are asleep as you get up and go to the kitchen to get some water. However, what you don’t expect to see, is Zoro and Sanji, both pretty tipsy. As you walk in, their eyes land on you and your figure. All you are wearing is a tank top and some small shorts.

“Sorry, just came to get water”, you say as you make your way to the fridge.

“What are you doing up so late?” Zoro asks as he raises his eyebrow. His words are slurred by the alcohol in his body.

“I was just reading. Robin gave me a new book for my birthday.” He said happily while you pour yourself a glass of water. You continue, “The real question is, what are you two doing up so late?”

Zoro and Sanji turn to each other and scowl. They both take another sip of their drinks, Sanji’s face twisting as the taste of it.

“We’re just having a little competition”, Sanji says with a small blush on his face from the liquor.

“Competition? What, like, a drinking competition or something?”

“Exactly”, Zoro responds with a grin. They both take another swig of their drinks. This is so childish...you can't help but be a little intrigued though.

"...Mind if I join you guys?" You ask in a light-hearted tone. They both look at you, their eyes wide, not expecting you to ask. However, they definitely weren't opposed.

"Sure. If you can handle it, that is", Zoro challenges. He has always been one to one-up you, asking things like 'Is that really a good idea?' or 'are you sure you can do that?'. This would always set you off, and this time is no different.

"Please, Zoro. I'm probably a better drinker than you." You say with a grin. Your eyes are squinted at the man, like a silent message saying 'don't try me.'

"Big words for such a small brain," Zoro says with a small smile, winning the argument. You roll your eyes, not in the mood to combat another insult. Sanji, however, acts differently.

"Hey, Mosshead!," he stands up out of his seat, face right in front of Zoro, eyes wide and angry, "Don't say that about her! Did your stupidly small brain forget that it's her birthday?" He continues to yell at him vigorously. Zoro starts yelling back at him, of course, not having any restraint with his words.

It gets to the point where their foreheads are touching one another as they are glaring into each other's eyes. You have to split them apart, tearing away Sanji with his arm.

"Will you two cut it out! Do you want to wake up the whole crew?" you say in a hushed tone, remembering that it's the middle of the night yet these two are yelling over stupid shit again. They sit back in their corresponding seats as you grab a beer from the fridge and sit down with them. You sit at the end of the table, where Luffy usually sits, with Sanji on your right and Zoro on your left. You take a sip of your drink as Sanji breaks the silence.

"Did you enjoy your birthday, mademoiselle?" he asks you in his sweet tone. Your heart flutters at the way he's looking at you. His eyes are downcasted, lidded. His face wore a grin as well. You take longer to respond than usual.

"I-uh- yeah! It was great, actually. I didn't expect anyone to remember, to be honest." You chuckle, trying to break the silence after your confession.

Zoro looks at you, confused, as he takes another swig of his drink. "Well, why not?" he asks. You look away, avoiding both their gazes. You then look down and the swirling liquid in your glass.

"I, just," you was lost for words. You had so many things on your mind but you just couldn't put them into words. "I'm...not sure," you say, still avoiding their gazes.

"Never really liked your birthday, I'm guessing?" Sanji suddenly joins in, looking at you sympathetically. You look at him in shock, surprised he got what you were trying to say.

"Yeah. Exactly that" you say truthfully. You try to lighten up the conversation a little. "But this birthday was awesome. Spending it with you guys and the rest of the crew really is the best", you say happily, genuinely. You smile widely at them, happy to be here.

"I love it when you say things like that, darling!" Sanji yells with hearts in his eyes.

"Jeez, you make me want to drink more, Sanji" Zoro mutters. This makes you giggle as Sanji's forehead throbs in irritation. You all take another swig of your drinks. You wouldn't rather be anywhere else. ____________________________________

You have been drinking with them for about an hour now, feeling the alcohol swirl throughout your body. You each talk about your pastimes, favorite stories, etc. It was getting to know more about them. Both of them were so reserved, never sharing much about themselves. So, for you to be able to hear their past was a nice change of pace. You began talking about relationships of your pasts.

"Have you ever had, like, a boyfriend, or something?" Zoro asks with a playful smile on his face. Your face burns with embarrassment. He was pretty drunk, but not too far gone to not know what he's saying. Sanji, however, was a different story.

"Zoro! You can't ask her things like that!" Sanji says as he scowls at the man sitting across from him.

"What? It's just a question," They both turn to you silently, waiting for your answer. Zoro continues, "So? Ever had a boyfriend?"

You feel inclined to lie but after they just told you about their whole lives, it is only fair you do the same. "Uh, yeah. I- uh- I have." You awkwardly, looking away.

"Oh, look at you," Zoro says in a teasing tone, "Still together?" he questions.

You answer immediately. "No, not anymore," you say. You mutter a 'thank god' under your breath out of instinct. However, they both seem to have heard as they laugh at your words. You flush in embarrassment.

"Really, that bad?" Sanji asked. One of his curly eyebrows was raised. They look at expectantly.

"I mean, it wasn't unbearable. But it just wasn't good." You tried to avoid the inevitable question, 'why?' by answering vaguely. However, these two seemed to catch on pretty quickly.

"C'mon. Tell us why." Zoro demands.

Sanji continues, "You don't have to if you don't want to. We're just curious." He says sweetly.

Are they...interrogating me? And...are they... working together?!? You have never seen them work together like this, however, their eyes made you nervous. It felt like being under trance while being stared at by these two. You couldn't help but shiver. It's like Zoro was playing bad cop and Sanji was playing good cop. They were working as one, just to get some answers out of you. It made you nervous. Really nervous.

"I- uh- he just- um" you stutter incoherently, your words failing you. You take a deep breath, in and out. "He just... couldn't satisfy my needs."

There is a silence like no other. This makes you look down, your hands trembling as they both look at you. Zoro wears a smirk, knowing exactly what you are referring to. Sanji looks at you in confusion, not understanding what you mean.

"Could you explain what you mean?" Sanji inquires further, wanting answers. However, he is only met with Zoro's laughter.

"God, you really are a stupid cook," Zoro says, still laughing. You sit there in embarrassment like no other with your head down, staring into your lap. Sanji furrows his eyebrows at Zoro, still not understanding what's going on.

"Do I have to spell it out for you? He couldn't make her cum, dumbass." You continue to stare down at your lap, mortified, wanting to be anywhere else right now. As Sanji takes in what was just said to him, his face begins to become redder, hotter than before. He looked away from Zoro and back to you. You would've interjected if what he said wasn't true. But he couldn't believe a sweet girl like you has been doing naughty things like that. Zoro breaks the silence.

"Well? Give us details! What he'd do wrong?" Zoro asks with a smile, finding this all amusing as you sit there in your seat, about to disintegrate from embarrassment. You gasp, finally lifting your head up from your lap.

"Jesus Christ Zoro! I'm not answering anymore of your stupid ass questions!"

You look away with a pout, your eyebrows clenched together in frustration. Sanji, for the first time, breaks the silence.

- Usopp doesn’t want his child to be a coward like him, so he’s quick to teach his child how to take a stand and have courage. which is easy with the help of the others

- he also teaches his child how to work and few tools here and there. It’s not alt Franky’s job but Usopp loves to build too

- He also loves to tell stories too. Whether they are true or not. It’s just a habit he’s always have so he just love to tell them to his child who loves to hear crazy stories

- Usopp will also teach the child some ‘emergency’ lies just in case they get stuck in a few situations and they need to lie to get out. It happens to Usopp

- Usopp will normal try and prepare the for anything and everything, his a worrier like that and wants to make sure his child is safe

Vinsmoke Sanji

- a very, very over protective father. I mean we’ve all met him. But besides that, he’s probably one of the best fathers out of the crew

- he doesn’t what his child to suffer like he did, so he always tired his best to make his child happy. And he’ll definitely go over bored too

- imma be honest with you, I can’t really see Chopper being a parent. Maybe like an uncle or brother or something so not really a father

- and he’s a worrier like Usopp, so Chopper will always be there to help his ‘sister’ or niece/nephew

- he always loves letting the child ride on him when he’s in different forms

Nico Robin

- I can’t really see Robin being a mother either but definitely a wine aunt.

- like no one knows much about her, where she works, what she does, where she lives, all that jazz is a mystery yet she’s always showing up in rich clothes and bringing rich gifts and all that

- if she was a parent tho, I feel like she would be one of those very chill parents….like too chill Ya’know. Almost like she’s not even your mom

- it took the child a while to realize that she does a lot more things behind, like protecting them and being their mother behind their back. She definitely does a lot more than they think

Franky

- like Robin, Franky is more of a gear head uncle than a father. Like one of those uncles you can leave the child with bc something will always happen

- but as a father….Franky would be the same. Bc he’s very much a gear head, there’s a lot of times where he’ll put in child in unintentional danger.

- so Frankys not really allowed to be without supervision

- but Franky doesn’t wait and jumps straight into mechanics as soon as the child and walk and talk. He wants them to be the best like he is and create a ship even grander then the Sunny

Brook

- but no like Brook would probably be like the 2nd best father. Besides his panties jokes and skeletons jokes, he’d really good

- he definitely want his child to study something in music tho, it doesn’t matter what is it. Piano, voila, vocals, guitar, just something musical

- music is something important to him and his old crew and he wants to pass that to child so they can find the joy in music too

Jinbe

- Jinbe would probably adopt a child. Whether it was a fishman or human, he would adopt one

- and his goal in life is to teach them not to discriminate over species. Besides that, there’s not much else

- he would definitely be very patient and understanding with his child. He’s a very calm person like that so he’s would be easy for his child to talk to

-you're the one in the kitchen,don't ever let him cook,he tried once.....and lets say....eh....the kitchen isn't very 'un-burned'

-He once came back from a mission,covered in his and other demon's blood,he found you sitting on the couch, clearly paranoid,but once you started complaining about how reckless he is he turned around,only to walk back in to see you crying,to which he responded by quickly enveloping you in a hug,telling you over and over that he's ok, after that he still taunted and was playful during missions,but way more careful

-after the qliphoth incident,he came back pretty wounded,only to come to you whining and telling him to be more careful,but that anger you were feeling turned into sadness real quick,using his wings and arms to hug you,reminding you that he's not fully human so wounds like this aren't fatal to him,but he tries to not get hit more often after that
